Propaganda under the cut. (cw bugs, animal harm)
The Return of the Living Dead They're Back From The Grave and Ready To Party! "So many good moments! The tar man's design in general, the fact the zombies can feel themselves rot, the split in half dog, the unsettling cadaver, etc. A banger all around. But really i cannot empathize enough how much i love the tar man's design. So cool"
Stung The ultimate buzzkill. "THIS MOVIE WAS MOSTLY PRACTICAL EFFECTS !! And people get turned into/big ol bugs hatch out of people and it’s awesome, specifically at one point a lady turns into one and you still see her skin/face stuck to it"

"Let's get some light over here. Trash is taking off her clothes again!"
I liked the part with the Louisville slugger.
The Return of the Living Dead is laden with charm from start to finish. Its comedic tone and dialogue are hilarious, without detracting from a genuinely creepy atmosphere. Just about every character is strange in their own way, from the mismatched collection of weirdos partying in the graveyard, to the eccentric nazi-in-hiding mortician. I love that the two old friends were named Burt and Ernie.
Solid performances all around, particularly from James Karen and Don Calfa. Linnea Quigley was truly captivating as the death-obsessed punk Trash, and her graveyard striptease was unforgettable. I liked the way she foreshadowed her own fate, and her role change in the later scenes was great fun.
There were a ton of nice practical effects on display here, like the re-animated body parts wiggling about, and the iconic Tar-man zombie. There was an interesting cross-section shot, following the acid rain as it seeped into the ground, which I thought was neat. The make-up effects on the guys developing rigor mortis were quite good.
Some really impressive scares here, like the ambulance headlights revealing the horde. I thought it was a good choice to portray the zombies as intelligent, conscious creatures, that can trick people with words and use complex motor skills to get to them. Spooky stuff.
Everything about the movie was stylish and over-the-top in a thoroughly entertaining way. So much was going on, but there was a clear sense of passion and attention to detail that ensured it never felt cheap or lazy. In a great little touch, even the butterfly specimens pinned to a cork board had been resurrected. The ending provided a grimly humourous and cynical conclusion, that fit the tone of the movie perfectly.
An incredible, funny, zombie movie that I can't believe I never saw before now. Right up my alley.

SUMMARY: When two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies.
This movie is apparently responsible for the trope of zombies eating brains which is a lot of fun. Also look at how these actors are dressed! The mod wants to watch this real bad.
Also listen to this tagline: They're back from the grave and ready to party! How could you not love that?

The Void:
There is a Hell. This is worse.
"some SERIOUSLY fucked up eternal torture going on in a few scenes in this movie. It's not the central point of the movie but the sheer horror of it and the incredible effects really really stand out."
