"i want to get married."

iwaizumi's head snaps up at your statement his attention diverted from his phone to you and his brows furrow in confusion "what?"

"i want to get married." you repeat yourself again, leaning back against the couch cushions and throwing your legs over the armrest.

iwaizumi scoffs, a confused smile on his face "this is the last joke, right?" he questions, frowning down at you as you're looking up at him — it's a bit late into the afternoon, but too early for you to start saying nonsense since you've always been so adamant about not getting married.

you roll your eyes at him, "no." and iwaizumi's frown deepens, "are you okay?" he asks.

you scowl at him "the hell's that supposed to mean?"

he shrugs, his gaze turning back to his screen "just...you're being weird again."

"you're so rude and for what." you huff, rolling your eyes again, you cross your arms, now staring at the ceiling above, "i want to get married, haji."

"can't help you with that." he's still scrolling through his phone, not paying much mind to you.

"i want to have like, a las vegas wedding." you say, and iwaizumi turns off his phone — now you've captured his attention since he stares at you as if you've grown two head, you grin at his expression and iwaizumi assumes the worst — is it that you're suggesting you want to go to las vegas? it is only a four hour drive from california after all.

"a las vegas wedding?" iwaizumi questions as if making sure he heard you correctly.

"yeah like, you know, the ones in those casinos?" you gesture around with your hands as if to emphasize your point, "like i wanna throw on a white dress — but like, not the puffy ones, like a party dress, sequins and glitter one — or you know what, actually, a puffy dress would be awesome." you ramble on, iwaizumi's looking down at you, amused, "anyway, what i'm saying is that i wanna get absolutely hammered, throw on a white dress and get married in vegas."

iwaizumi snorts, "who you gonna get married to?"

"i don't know." you shrug, you reposition yourself now so that your head is laying in his lap and you look up at him, grinning mischievously, "you."

iwaizumi's eyes slightly widen, the tips of his ears turning pink and he groans, pushing you off of him, "you're so weird." he may have pushed you a little too hard that you fell off the couch with a dull thud.

he tries to ignore his skipped heartbeat as your laughter echoes through the living and iwaizumi's hand is curled at his mouth to hide his smile, "come on." you chide, "you know — say, we do get married in vegas, technically then, you'll only be married in vegas."

iwaizumi frowns, "that's not true, who told you that?" you're looking up at him with an entertained smile on your face, "you know, it's way too easy get married in vegas, right? why do you think so many people get married accidentally when they're drunk?"

iwaizumi scoffs, and leans back on the couch, arms crossed — it was a calm afternoon on his day off until you started on with your marriage shit, but unfortunately ( fortunately ) for him, you were his best friend, and roommate, so he had to put up with it, even if he has to pretend to be annoyed sometimes.

he says, "i really hope one day you'll finally mature enough that you stop saying weird shit all of the time."

you laugh, "you're just jealous you can't be as creative as me." iwaizumi rolls his eyes, watching as you get up from the ground and walk closer to him, too close actually that your face is right up his, "but it's fine, i'll get that vegas wedding one day."

you laugh, drawing back away from him and iwaizumi looks away, a slight blush tinting his cheeks, "yeah, dream on."

you hum in response, and with the way your gaze seems to be a bit too distant, iwaizumi assumes you've gone off on to your own little world now, you're no longer looking at him, instead staring at the tv that has a spanish show playing that neither of you understand, but he knows you're not listening when he mumbles a soft, "maybe even a real wedding." under his breath.

"would you move in with me?"

iwaizumi looks at you, "what?"

it's evening, the both of you chilling at your place to catch up the new episode of your show, and during commercial break, you decided to speak what's on your mind.

you repeat, "would you move in with me?" and you're asking it genuinely.

"is that an offer or—" he says before you cut him off, "just answer the question."

"uh," he seems to consider it for a moment before a smile cracks it's way to his lips, "i mean, sure, why not?"

"so," you begin, "if i gave you a key to an apartment, and we start living together, would you eat it up?"

he laughs, "what?" and he raises his eyebrows, "this is hypothetical, right?"

you shrug, "i never said it was."

he stares at you, "oh my god, you used up all your savings to buy an apartment, didn't you?"

you slap his arm a little too harshly, "what? no! of course not!" you slump back down on the couch, "i'm saying like, we could buy an apartment and move in together."

iwaizumi shakes his head, "no, you're crazy."

"oh come on," you protest, sitting up right and gripping iwaizumi's shoulders, "it'd be fun! we'd be one of those bestfriend pairs who live together."

"i'm pretty sure these don't exist."

you scowl, "they do, you just don't read enough," you shake your head, "point is, we'd be living together,"

he grins at you, a menacing grin, "i don't think you're realizing that you'll be living with a guy, y/n."

"uh, counterpoint," you say, "you're not just a guy, you're the guy — i mean, come on, you're my bestfriend, there is nothing that i don't know about you."

iwaizumi squints his eyes at you, "you don't know everything about me."

"haji, i saw your first shower baby pictures, i'm pretty sure i know everything about you."

if you look closely, you can see his ears turn pink and you grin, "see?"

he turns his face away from you, "whatever."

"look," you say, "it'll be fun! i swear, we'll live together, split the chores and bills, it'll all be easy."

"you're crazy,"

"i'm not, you're just too plain." you grip his shoulders tightly, and start shaking him, "come on, let's live together."

"alright, alright!" he holds your arms and you pause, "are you serious?"

he replies, "deadly."

your eyes widen with a wild grin on your face, "oh my god, we'll be living together." you sit down, "i mean, should we go looking for apartments in the morning?"

and he grins, "yeah, i think so."

this is a stupid, reckless plan, but if it means he'll get to spend more time with you, if it means he'll wake up every morning to your smile, then it's worth it.

"why would you get into a fight?"

it's about time you've asked.

iwaizumi replies, "they pissed me off,"

"pissed you off?" you utter out in disbelief, "you got into a physical fight because they pissed you off?"

he brushes over your hand that's gripping his face a little too firmly now, "it's not that big of a deal."

you were a little too concerned for your roommate not showing up home when the hour struck midnight, only for him to show up a couple minutes later, bottom lip chipped and and bruises on his forehead on cheek.

"it is that big of a deal," you argue, one hand is holding his face and the other is patting a cold cloth over his bruises, "what if you've gotten seriously hurt, huh? what would have you done then?"

"but that didn't happen," he says, "and jeez, you sound like a mom."

you're so tempted to slap him right now but resist the urge, dipping the cloth in water and patting it on his cheek before pulling back.

it's late night, iwaizumi's sitting on the kitchen counter as you try to patch him up, and with living in the city, you could still hear cars and people outside.

"that looks bad," you mutter, brushing your finger lightly over the bruise on his cheek, and he winces.

you shake you head, pulling your hand away, "i can't believe how reckless you are."

he denies, "i'm not reckless."

"yeah, you're right," you say, "you're unbelievable."

"thanks."

"unbelievable," you mutter under your breath, grabbing the bowl of water and the cloth and setting them in the sink, and then you head to your room.

a few seconds later you come out, "here,"

and iwaizumi stares at you, "i'm not gonna put on lipbalm."

"look buddy, you're the one who got into the fight, and those are the consequences of it."

he pushes your hand away, "i said, i'm not gonna out on lipbalm."

you roll your eyes at him, "there's nothing to be ashamed of,"

he grabs the lipbalm from your hand, "cherry shine, really?"

you scoff at him, "it's the one i use," and he hands you back it.

"well, you can keep on using it."

"come on haji," you say, "it's for your lips."

he scowls, "i know it's for my lips."

"they're chipped," you say, handing him back the lipbalm, "you're gonna need this to heal them, so don't be a stubborn idiot and put it on."

iwaizumi takes the lip balm from you hand angrily, and smudges it on his lips before handing it back to you.

and you giggle, "look at you, a pretty little girl."

you laugh at the way he groans and pushes you away, and you let out a long sigh with a wide smile spread across your cheeks.

"okay, gonna turn in now," you lean forward, planting a light, soft kiss on his cheek before pulling away, "take care of yourself okay? goodnight."

you smile, and walked away to your room and shut the door behind you.

and iwaizumi is speechless.

it's been a long night, really, by the end of it, he spent time with you and you were taking care of him, handing him with such warmth and tenderness, and wow, he's lovestruck.

he's still on the kitchen counter when he mutters out, "goodnight,"

iwaizumi doesn't do well with hangovers.

he doesn't like the idea of waking up in the morning with the overwhelming urge to throw up and a pounding headache that won't be going away anytime time soon and with not a single shred of memory of exactly what the hell went down the other night.

so exactly why is he on the living room couch with a pounding headache and an overwhelming urge to throw up.

iwaizumi feels like he has run a marathon when he attempts to sit up from the couch.

"morning, sleepy head."

oh he know that voice, it's your voice.

you head over to him with two mugs of coffee in hand, a grin on your face as you sit down on the coffee table opposite of him.

oh god, you saw him drunk last night.

"okay," he groans, he knows he's gonna be stripped naked with teasing comments when he sees that grin on your face, "yeah, i was drunk, yeah, i probably did something stupid, and yeah, i know i look like shit now,"

"how low do you think of me," you squint your eyes at him, and then you laugh, it's a small laugh, "i'm not gonna tease you, jeez, i just want to know what got you absouletly wasted last night."

so he wasn't just drunk, he was wasted —awesome.

iwaizumi can't remember a thing, everything is just so foggy which really has him questioning how many drinks he exactly had the other night.

he rubs his temples, "i think there was a restaurant," he says, "i know there was wine."

you giggle, "you told me you were going out with the team for some drinks."

oh that's right, he did go out with the team — it was just to celebrate a match they won and then they headed to a restaurant where most had drinks, he just didn't expect himself to get drunk — well, wasted.

"yeah," he says, "that's pretty much about it — how did i even get here?" if iwaizumi was absouelty wasted in your words, there is no way he could've gotten here by himself.

"well," you say, "one of your friends dropped you off here, said that you had way too much to handle," you laugh, "oh god, you were smiling like a idiot the whole time."

he grunts, "there we go."

you laugh, like you just recalled something absouelty hilarious, "oh my god, you were absouletly gone — i mean haji, you were flirting with me."

and that's when everything hit him like a fucking train.

iwaizumi remembers everything now and the blush on his face is enough evedince of that.

he remembers that it was a little around twelve am, and you were getting a little droopy while the effect of alcohol still hasn't worn off of him, and you were both sitting on the couch, the tv on and he was laying on your shoulder.

"you're pretty," he had said, and you laughed, "why don't you tell me that when you're sober, big guy?"

"i don't need to be drunk to tell a fact."

"you are drunk, though." you chuckled then.

"whatever," he rolled his eyes, "i like you, you know."

"you do?"

"yeah, lots," he giggled, the evidence of the alcohol is the red that blooms on his as he gets off your shoulder and lays down on the couch, "you're nice."

and then he passed out.

he passed out.

iwaizumi's not very sure whether it's good thing as he was spared the embarrassment of spilling something else, or if it was a good thing because he never really got to hear your response.

so he hesitantly asks, "and, what did you then?"

"i laughed," you say, "i think — i mean, you were drunk haji, you said all sorts of things." and you're smiling, you're smiling so very brightly and purely.

"yeah," it's quiet as he nods his head, "yeah."

you chuckle, shaking your head and handing him his mug of coffee, "here, now get up, it's already twelve pm."

and you leave, heading to your room to do whatever.

iwaizumi likes you — he loves you, he really does, he's just not sure if you feel the same.

but he doesn't know that you're hoping with everything that he meant what he said the other night.

iwaizumi is easily flustered.

no, really, like just drop one pickup line, and he's gone, down bad, flirt with him and his ears turn pink the second you say the first line, give him a compliment and he's stumbling on his words.

that's why it's also so, so easy to tease him.

"you're pretty," you say, and you're not flirting, not really, just trying to fluster him and you know you succeeded when you see his ears turn pink.

he grunts, "shut up."

"awe, look at you, so cute," you continue, leaning forward and pinching his cheek, he slaps your hand away and you laugh.

it's a little around ten am, and he just got back from his morning jog, searching in the kitchen for a quick snack but instead finds you.

"so pretty," you say, plobbing yourself on the counter to reach his height.

he says, "i said, shut up."

you snort, "trying to act all tough isn't gonna work when you're looking like tomato there, haji,"

well, you are right about one thing, he does look like a tomato, there is, what you can only guess to be a permanent blush on his face that spreads all the way to his ears and neck.

god, it is so easy to fluster him, it's even easier when you are the one dropping the compliments and pickup lines.

so he says, "i'm not as pretty as you," and it's an attempt to turn the tables on you, which very obviously fails when you laugh instead and pat his shoulder.

you chuckle, "you crack me up,"

and he replies, "you're a horrible, horrible person."

"i am not!" you deny, laughing, "i'm a very, very nice person, excuse you."

iwaizumi's still red, but at least he's got his cool back.

"in all seriousness though," you say, "i think you're very handsome."

now, why did you have to go and steal his cool like that again.

he's down, and he's down bad, it's bad enough that he has a crush on you, his roommate, like, have you always been this pretty? have your smile always been this bright and attractive? and god, it just keeps getting worse, and worse, and he can't seem to help but fall in love with you more and more everyday.

he turns a deeper shade of red, and he tries not to stumble on his words, "thanks."

"oh?" you say, and your tone is a little too amused, "no 'shut up'? or 'you're such a dumbass'? woah! that's a new thing there,"

iwaizumi scowls, "shut up,"

you grin, "there you go!"

he grunts and turns his face away from you, and you laugh, hopping off the counter.

"anyway," you say, handing him a plate, "here, eat full and healthy,"

good grief, you made him his snack, and it's his favourite one too.

you cup his face, planting a kiss on his cheek, "alright, well i gotta go now! take care,"

you wave him goodbye with a grin on your face, before you leave the kitchen and iwaizumi hears the front door open and close shut, and he's standing there, speechless and a blushing mess with a million thoughts running through his head.

yeah, he's down bad for you.

apparently, moving out isn't as easy as it sounds.

safe to say, iwaizumi and you circled the whole city to find a place that was good and affordable.

and you did, well, that might as well been the easiest task on the list — because after that, you had to make arrangements with a company to move all your furniture and belongings, which might as well have cost more than the apartment itself.

and, if that isn't bad enough, there came the the worst part — unpacking.

"you have alot of stuff," iwaizumi states, looking at the ocean of brown boxes.

"oh, you're one to talk," you bicker back at him, opening a box of his belongings.

"why are you looking through my stuff?" he asks, walking over and kneeling down next to you.

you bring out a volleyball, stripped yellow and blue, "seriously?"

"what? it's special to me."

"you could've just bought one," you roll your eyes, continuing to rummage through the box, "and what is this — oh," you bring out his old seijoh jersey and hold it out in front of you, before turning the box, "oh, so that's your old seijoh stuff."

"okay, get out of here," he says, trying to push you away from the box that's a threat to his reputation now, but you're stubborn and shove him aside, "oh my god, you kept all the stuff from seijoh!" there is a grin on your face as you continue to shuffle through his stuff, bringing out a picture of him with his teammates, their smiles caught in a permanent moment, "oh my god, i didn't know you were a memory hoarder."

you laugh when he snatches the picture from your hands and pushes you aside, taking the box and carrying it away.

"oh, come on." you tease, "don't be such a cry baby."

"if i knew the consequences of living with you, i wouldn't have agreed to moving in together."

you draw in an offended gasp, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at him.

it's eleven am in the morning, your new apartment is in the heart of the city — and at a time like that there is definitely traffic jam outside, the streets outside are busy and busting with a shop or a restaurant within every two meter radius.

your apartment however, is ideal — two rooms, enough for you, and the living room is good space for a couch and a tv — it's not like you'll be having any visitors anyway, so needless to say, so far, you're loving your new place.

"haji," you call out, "do you like it here?"

"no, you're annoying."

you roll your eyes, "but you love me."

iwaizumi sets his box on the counter, throwing you a glance over his shoulder, "doesn't make you any less annoying."

"i'm serious," you whine, "i mean, do you like the place so far?"

he turns over to you, crossing his arms and leaning on the counter, a hint of a grin on his lips, "it's nice — i mean, we'll manage it." he assures you, "but you'll be paying the water bill — you spend like two years in the shower, i'm not handling the money for that."

"oh, as if you don't turn on the lights everywhere you go!"

he scowls, "it's for security,"

"really? or are you just scared from that horror movie you watched two months ago?"

"whatever," he say, waving you off, "now get back to unpacking, there is gonna be alot of work today."

"yeah yeah," you grin, "we're roomies."
