I just realized that Piper PRAYED to Aphrodite that she should let Jason live, for the sake of their love. But the moment Piper broke up with Jason, his life went downhill and he died a few months later. What if piper's prayer to Aphrodite had kind of "sealed" jason's life, but it was only as long as they were together, so the moment they split, the prayer lost its protection, breaking the invisible thread of security jason had, since Aphrodite wasn't obligated to ensure his safety anymore. Uncle Rick owes me tissue boxes.

Wei Wuxian really got an arrow shot in between two of his lungs ribs, pulled it out, and then tossed it back and fucking killed the guy who shot him - If that's not fucking terrifying (and more than a little awe-inspiring) I don't know what is.

NICOBASTER: Gods
@thomas-life and I did another collaboration where we did a godswap. I already switched Al and Nico’s godly parents for my Jasico week godswap post so we had to do something different for this.
So May I present:
Themis!Alabaster
Tumblr media
And Aphrodite!Nico:
Tumblr media
Alabaster just wondering: why is that son of Aphrodite always hanging about? Does he need something? He’s very distractive…er attractive..ugh! DISTRACTING.
Al: yes hello, did you have some sort of grievance? Looking to join the class action, perhaps some type of complaint?
Nico: *looks him up and down* dinner?
Al: dinner?…poison? Maybe negligence? I th-
Nico: *amused* im asking you to dinner.
Al: OxO…m-me why?
Nico: to get to know you better…and because im hungry. I assume you eat when you’re not suing the chitons off of Olympians?
Al: ah yes. Um food. Yes. I’ve eaten food u.u ever since I was little…*realizes how dumb what he said was* / >///< the fuck I’m
Usually more eloquent than this…/
Nico: is that right? ;:)
Al: yeah…you know…i…i kind want to curl up and hide rn…
Nico: well that’d be no good. I’m know how familiar you are with the dating process…but you do, in general have to be present for the date to happen, you see. ;)
Al: *//x//* mhmm…y-yeah. Let’s go then…
Like to think that Al is still a bit unhinged and Nico is still interested in fighting. Also they both still like mythomagic still.
@them-awesome-rarepairs extremely late submission for this prompt 😅. I even skipped one…but I might come back to it!

Summer (?) 1992. The final game supplement for the Mayfair Games DC HEROES ROLE-PLAYING GAME was a loose-leaf WHO'S WHO supplement, intended to complement DC's loose-leaf WHO'S WHO update. Only three of the four planned volumes were released before Mayfair lost the DC license. The first volume includes this entry for Legionnaire Brainiac 5, also covered in 2995: THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES SOURCEBOOK, which came out months later.
Brainy's game statistics are mostly the same (although this entry gives him 20 more Hero Points), but the special Psychological Instability rules are unique to this version. This wasn't really a problem anymore in the period when this supplement was published, since it really refers to one particular story from 1979 (a guy loses his shit and creates a universe-destroying super-monster ONE TIME and nobody ever lets him live it down …), but it's an interesting mechanic, so I can see why it was included. The reverse side also has a handy checklist of Brainiac 5 appearances, for completists:
Tumblr media
The Personality/Role-playing section on the front side makes some dubious assertions. The first paragraph says:
He might be incredibly intelligent, but Brainiac 5 has a great deal of difficulty when it comes to expressing his emotions. When he first joined the Legion, he tried to concentrate on his feelings to fit in with his teammates, none of whom was Coluan. He even fell in love with Laurel Gand and spent a number of peaceful years with her. But inevitably, he became so overwhelmed with leading the team and protecting the universe that he was forced to forgo the luxury of emotion so that he could use his intelligence to its capacity.
While the 2995 sourcebook was written by Legion scripters Tom and Mary Bierbaum, this supplement was not, and I'm not sure what Winninger was talking about in the final sentence. What had happened in the latter third of the 1984–1989 Levitz series was that Brainy had fomented a conspiracy to avenge the death of Superboy by destroying the Time Trapper, one of the Legion's most powerful enemies, a plan that involved sacrificing Brainy's old friend Jaxon Rugarth. The other Legionnaires then put Brainy on trial for violating the Legion code, and although he was exonerated, he was so annoyed by their attitude that he resigned in a fit of pique and went back to Colu. He returned during the Magic Wars and sort of mended fences, although the team subsequently collapsed and he went on to other things during the five-year gap (principally trying to find a cure for the "Validus plague" afflicting Saturn Girl's kids). Some of the specific circumstances were subsequently retconned in ways not reflected in the actual comics, but that was still basically the gist at the time this supplement was published. It was messy, but it was certainly NOT a matter of his forgoing "the luxury of emotion."
The second paragraph says:
As a Brainiac, Dox has an affinity for pure logic. As time goes on, he seems less and less interested in establishing normal relationships with his teammates in the reformed Legion.
This was not at all true. Indeed, one of the charming aspects of the "Five Years Later" period was that Brainy had actually mellowed quite a bit. He was still a little awkward, and there was unresolved baggage between him and Laurel (who in the interim had had a baby with his best friend!), but he was more at peace with himself, and more patient with the people around him, than he'd ever been in past Legion stories. According to the Bierbaums' sourcebook, he was even writing sweet little haiku about his former teammates in his spare time — hardly the action of a cold-blooded logician.

literally so funny to me to play sidesteps who r basically just heroes with a different costume. just running around los diablos chanting to themselves "I am evil! I am evil!" meanwhile they would save a kitten from a tree. everyone they have ever talked to in costume has left the interaction feeling confused and concerned for their mental health. and they should be!!!

Nico tortures and plays with his enemies first. He revels in their screams of pain and agony. He then passes them to Jason to finish the job. Jason doesn't use his powers or his sword, no, he kills them with his bare hands, sometimes rips out their throat with his teeth too.
They kiss after, their faces and clothes drenched in red and gold, carnage behind them. Many are horrified but to them, it's fun. (And a way to warn the gods to not fuck with them anymore)

Pls give me evil/villain Underworld prince Nicoooo AU rambleesss
How. How come you can choose this exact moment of the brainstorm of Tyrant Nico raging in my head to ask this?
Buddy, I can kiss you right now. I’m serious.
Omg this is so exciting, *squeals and clears throat* let’s begin before I’m dead by over-exhilarated, shall we?
I have a few ideas about tyrant/ bad ruler Nico in general, however, since you’ve specifically requested a “Underworld prince”, we’ll go with that.
Let’s start with how and why he becomes evil/villainous - because we have alr all agreed that Nico’s obviously a Underworld Prince. Yes, you agree.
I’m very much into the idea of Nico posing wickedness and cruelty, yet I do not quite fancy the possibility in which he plainly enjoys others’ suffering as noble sipping fine wine or whatever.
So, if I were to propose a villainous Nico, I’d go with the possibility that he’s blinded by grudges, swallowed by darkness, haunted by death - everything in between. My point being: it isn’t his nature, but Nico succumbs to it anyways.
Nico could be rendered sightless by Maria’s and Bianca’s death and become vengeful and bitter, which later turns into severity and callousness. You know those times when something extremely bad happens and you feel so, so frustrated that you just want to throw everything to the ground and watch them shatter? That. That kind of thing.
I have a somewhat similiar AU, ya know? That Fantasy Royal one? Nico’s only purpose was to avenge his mother and sister and he’s straight up a manifestation of manipulation for like. half of the thing.
Or in another scenario, Nico could feel the outsider’s (those who aren’t in his land) hostility and discrimination and he just... brakes. He repays exactly what he’s given. He becomes the very bastardized image people have imposed on him. An eye for an eye. Unforgivingly fair and harshly just. The more people fear him, the more fearsome he becomes, and the more fearsome he becomes, people see him less as a human and more of a threat. It’s a never ending loop and Nico’s trapped.
To be honest I think Nico has all the rights to be an antagonist in canon but well, he isn’t, so I’m both mourning for and cheering to it.
Moving on. We’re approaching the What’s Nico as an evil Underworld prince like? which is, by all means, an entire new land for me to grow my crops and harvest.
- Politics-wise, I’ve always entertained the thought that Nico could make a thrilling example of a cold-blooded ruler. My villain Nico would hardly ever adopt the image of a raging tyrant. He’s more like... well, cold. Apathetic. Heartless.
- If it’s in the canon universe, Nico would definitely be that type who would watch people die without barely a reaction, eyes glazed over and blood left blackening their cheeks. He might not be outright cruel, per se, but you’d definitely find out when you see him spread death as if it was his blessing. In a sense, it is.
I’ve said before that Nico could be the one to soothe the souls after-death, yeah? Well this evil prince Nico would probably absord them all to strengthen himself. Remember that post where I proposed an idea that Nico had to rely on dead people’s souls to stay alive? That. That one but instead of only staying alive, he thoroughly prospers. Unapologetic.
He is literally the embodiment of death, please, Nico would thrive the more succumb to the eternal slumber.
Nico never forgives. At least, this one doesn’t. So whatever irks him, he gets rid of it, and with as much blood you could imagine. You commit a sin and he would come for everything you love. Is is fair? In Underworld’s dictionary, yes.
- In case we take on a more... royal background though, like with actual kingdoms and people and everything in between, let’s say I’d prefer Nico to be one with an iron fist. You know, the typical king with great ruling skills but no compassion to spare?
We’re hypothesis-ing him as a Prince here, so I suppose Hades is still in the picture. Well it’d certainly not make any change since, you know how they both are.
Anyway, simply imagine a government where all the power flows to one individual only. Dictorship, sort of. And that’s not Hades.
It’s Nico, who is as much of a royalty to have significant influence yet less restrictions. He who manipulates the court to his liking and eliminate everyone that dares to cross his path. He who is close enough to hear people’s wails but continues to ignore it in favour of his own persuation. Nico wouldn’t let them die, of course, but he wouldn’t allow the “luxury” he deems unecessary - no matter how the others can view it otherwise essential.
And he makes sure people follow his words. The punishment is unbearable. The laws has no mercy, no matter how pitifully one can cry to him. Nico uses death as his weapon. He is the rules, and obey the rules they have to.
Live obediently and they would be fine. Defy him and they would come to know how similar to a guilotine Nico’s wraith can be.
Nico’s reign would be a sunless winter - all iron bars and stone hearts.
- Is he bad? In a way. Does that weaken his kingdom? No.
If anything, they thrive stronger than ever just because it’s the Underworld we are speaking of.
I’m talking on the grounds that Nico, with his absolute reign over the un-alive residents, could take full advantage the more his subjects grow. Just think! When you’re ruling a kingdom of perishment, whose people can never disobey you, it totally makes sense that the more death there is, the more power you’d gain. Moreso, when you have thousands, millions of subordinates to rule over, discipline is a must. It helps to unite everybody’s spirits as one, which in Nico’s case, is like giving him more limbs, an army, a giant body made of many individuals, so to speak - and all the ill intents he possesses would then become one with his people. The freaking Undead.
Are you still with me? My point is: the more ruthless Nico becomes, the more powerful he would be.
- And what does one do with too much power? Well certainly not to protect when it comes to be a villain. So what’s left? War. That’s what.
You have to excuse me here because I’m frankly addicted to a dark prince Nico who leads an army of undead and leaves only a lifeless void in his wake. Whether it was because of Bianca and Maria or others’ poor treatment, the last thing awating Nico would always be war. Just because I say so.
What does he fight for, you ask? For blood. For the agony they had put Bianca and Maria through. For the pain of those who had put him through. He resents the world, so the world must suffer. It’s only fair. It’s selfish, but fair.
Nico would be right at the front-line. He wants to witness the deaths by his own eyes and hears the cries by his own ears. He raises his sword and the zombies roar to life. They bite and claw. They rip off flesh and chew through armors. They are one with their ruler’s will. They never die - the same way Nico’s unrelenting cruelty remains frigid like eternal ice.
What does he do with the land he’d acquire? Make it his own, of course. And those who oppose, make them remember how they have surrendered it the first place.
Nico isn’t interested in the land itself, but the fact that he conquered it proves that he’s won over what mistreated him - at least, that’s how this Nico believes. It’s a trophy, a prove, no more, no less.
And the more land he acquires, the more souls he gets, and all the more power he gains.
Wow this is a long post... Anyway I suppose this is everything I can formulate at the moment. Obviously I have more in my brain but it’s a mess atm so we’d have to be content with what we’re given then.

also, to change track a little as i am in the process of setting up beidou, i really really want to write very soon about the kind of pirate she is — because in liyue and also in genshin as a whole, she is positioned very much as a "friendly pirate" who strikes fear into the hearts of those who deserve it as per the moral position of the narrative ( i.e. treasure hoarders ) and i don't actually think it's a stretch for me to say that, even within the canon itself, this isn't a 100% true description. like, i remember in one of the liyue daily commissions that there are kids on the docks who speak very fondly of her ( and considering her past, i think there are very specific reasons why beidou positions herself that way when it comes to children, a little like yoimiya in inazuma ), but i do think there is a real difference with how beidou carries herself/is perceived in liyue, a place where she is a hero and a celebrity, and outside of liyue — we just very rarely see her outside of liyue, aside from a few brief teases in inazuma that i am sure i will deconstruct and talk about eventually.

HAHA#very funny i was saying on twt the other week that arye has two types: guys who are fucking WEIRD as hell (he gets to be the mature one-#slash voice of reason in the relationship for once LMAO) and fucking OBSESSED with him and guys who can out-brood him. HAHAHA#'obsessed with him' that said .... he loves praise but he HATES hero worship. treat him like a person or don't treat him at all lol#ummm i have a lot of thoughts about this. arye is (surprisingly? unsurprisingly?) pretty clingy despite appearances lol#maybe clingy isn't the right word. attached? he sinks his claws into whoever he's decided is worthy of his love and doesn't let them go hah#but he can also be a bit helicopter-y.. he just wants to protect his loved ones and wants them to be happy:(#he's a guy who has felt unloved and has literally been alone for the vast majority of his life. he so desperately wants to be loved and-#adored and important to someone:(. he's the type of person where however you treat him he will return twofold#if you love him he will love you back twice as hard. if you treat him/his loved ones poorly he will outdo you<3 hahaha#and like YEAH he's gotten a bit jaded and there are moments where he lost himself along the way. he's been ruthless and bloodthirsty and-#vengeful. but he is also so fucking full of love#anyway. i think he is the best and he deserves to be loved fiercely and with open eyes. and he deserves to not even doubt for even a-#millisecond how deeply and enormously loved he is<3
