we talk about this all the time but they really should've gone the extra mile with that confession. they literally had nothing to lose. dean should've been clinging to cas when he'd realized he couldn't do anything to save them both and it was all his fault. he should've clutched at Cas' coat and apologized and gone through all the stages of grief before accepting that he'd be dying but atleast he's not alone. and cas!!! should've cupped dean's face!!!! should've been able to say i love you with dean's face in his hands!!! dean should've gotten to curl his fingers in the lapels of Cas' coat before he got pushed away!!! like!!! I'm not even saying they should've kissed — which, it would've been SO GOOD but I'm not even saying that!!! — but there were all these little things they could've done to really drive home the point about what is happening there. like the tragedy of it all. if you take that step now, you'll know it's the first and last time you'll ever do it. if you don't, you won't ever be able to again. your story finally has what looks like a beginning but the end credits roll before you can breathe it in, really. like. that's soooo spicy like i love it I love that they're so close to it all and it's over before it begins!!! like!!! is it better to have had this thing and then lose it right away, or to not have it at all. To kill the possibility of it!! THE CONFLICT!!! they're inches apart and they're a world apart and we should've been able to see that in the tension in Dean's knuckles i think.
