Disapproval of tone was matched with cutting words returned no matter how ridiculous the chosen accessory may look on an extraterrestial man. It was as simple as the stark red lenses had caught at his eyes, turning everything into a bleeding hue once he donned them over his obsidian optics. Looking out at the bright glare of his chosen kindgom of dust and natural ruination, it quickly became a more favored little 'luxury' to not have to squint nocturnal-favored eyes every time he wanted to peer into the distance with a scorching sun attempting to char his pupils into a temporary blindness by the reflective, bleached rock formations.

Broly reached a hand up to pinch at the side of the sunglasses, lifting them high enough for his steely eyes to have a direct line at his wayward 'rival.' He didn't have to tack on another string of scathing words but the option was there and it was taken by his own choice.

Directors, stop saying there's no CGI in your movies | Creative Bloq

"There was no CGI in Oppenheimer, right? Nor in Barbie. That's the impression that's been given about two of the biggest movies of the season. There's been a reaction against visual effects and it seems to have become something of a fashion for filmmakers to boast that they made their films the 'old-fashioned way'. 

It's perhaps understandable that, amid the explosion of AI image generation, the idea of making something without computer assistance is becoming attractive again. But it's not true, visual effects artists say. If Barbie used no CGI or VFX, why does the film have such a long list of visual effects artists in the credits? (and those are just the ones that got a credit).

The filmmaker and VFX supervisor Hugh Guerra wrote a post on Twitter in response to a Guardian article that was headlined '"It’s exactly as they’d have done it in the 1910s": how Barbenheimer is leading the anti-CGI backlash'. The article had commented on a spate of recent films using practical effects and prosthetics instead of CGI.

"If you bothered to watch Barbie until the end credits you would have discovered that the film which you claim has 'almost no CGI or VFX’ has a credit list of 207 VFX artists and 5 VFX companies." He said that three out of five companies listed had missing credits, so the complete number of artists would be longer. "Just like Oppenheimer and Mission Impossible, these films have hundreds of invisible VFX and CGI," he added.

Guerra's tweet provoked comments from VFX artists who worked on the film, including some who didn't get a name check in the credits. "People have no idea how broad the term 'VFX shot' is. There is no movie made today without VFX," one person replied. Someone else suggested "'Almost no CGI' tends to mean 'good CGI'. 'Almost no VFX' just doesn’t even really mean anything."

I watched it a few days ago, it's full of vfx 😂 The virtual production LED counts also as VFX, artists worked in Maya for the environment and I don't know how many used unreal 5. "Almost no CGI", really sad August 4, 2023

Some have suggested that it's a great compliment for the quality of the visual effects in the films if reviewers can't tell that they aren't real. However, others raise concerns that the so-called 'VFX-backlash' downplays the importance and contribution of VFX artists to film, which can provide an excuse to cut budgets, leading to poor VFX, which ends up being what people think VFX is.

"It's so sad to see how underappreciated VFX artists are. Especially since studios are being sucked dry and then when the effects are “subpar” they blame it on the artists without having any context," one person wrote. "VFX artists have given us some of the most iconic moments in cinema."

You all know how this started, don't you? It came from competing studios like Warner Bros Discovery just to use against Disney, as an attack on the quality, and an attempt to downgrade the value of superhero films...at least, the ones that came from Disney. Heaven forbid you find anything wrong in Snyderverse 🙄

The psychological effects to fans everywhere, to look forward to a film, only for a horde of corporate trolls online, tearing it apart, piece by piece is not fun, not cool and shouldn't even be legal. That damages a competitor's film in such a scummy way. I'll say again, it wasn't like that when I was younger. We could like what we wanted to. There weren't a bunch of raving lunatics trying to spoil a good time. As an aside, I'm sure the inevitable damage to the special effects industry was also a very big consideration.

Hope is a strong word that can mean so many things: hope for the better, the worst, to be rich, to be happy, to feel fulfilled, to be an amazing athlete, to feel whole again……. My definition of hope begins with what can you achieve in a realistic mindset. Can you become the better man that you want to be for yourself or for others? I HOPE I can.

Over the past couple of years, it has been difficult to comprehend what the realistic outcome of any change would be. With the onset of the pandemic the whole world felt distant from each other. We no longer had the social interaction I so desperately needed, and it became the perfect storm that took my life on another path. I felt tired. My health was in disarray. I was complacent in what I had in front of me. I felt worthless and just a cog in the wheel. I worried night and day about when “normal” would come back. When would I feel the self-worth I was so desperately trying to achieve? I felt no hope at all. Hope-LESS

After years of tormenting myself in anxiety and depression, I’d say that hope eventually found me…and not in the best way. My body ached and I had sleepless nights. I felt so worn down and unhappy with my appearance I wanted to give up. I would be better off gone, I thought. But then, with a glimmer of hope I didn’t see in myself, my wife pushed/pleaded/insisted to get a physical. This is something I hadn’t done in over 15 years. Drumroll…..the bad news. Your liver is shot, kidneys a mess, cholesterol high and on the verge of diabetes, nerve problems, weight beyond reasonable, loss of memory, potential of cancer in your blood, and the list kept going. I saw more doctors and specialists over 3 months than I had in my entire life (not to mention all the blood work).  I was 34….

That’s when HOPE reached out and saved my life.

Most people equate this to “the lightbulb turned on” notion. NO, mine was DO or DIE (physically or mentally). I did the tests, I then knew that if I didn’t change my behaviors and thoughts on both sides: I wouldn’t see my children grow up and they wouldn’t have a father I always wanted to be (irreparable), I’d be a bad partner and not commit to our vows for over 16 years (cowardly), I’d be a disappointment to my family and continuation of past experiences (guilt/recurrence), I’d be the pity of conversation with friends (embarrassment), I’d be the “guy” that couldn’t get over his own securities to save his life and the emotions of those around him (self-guilt).

Everything stated above was flowing through my head. Weird to think that with all that doubt and contradiction, end of life was still a thought. That’s #mental

It took time to calm down, but i knew that was the only way. Do some meditation, read some positive books (thanks Headway), workout to clear my mind. Most importantly, address my addiction with alcohol. I might not remember the exact day, but the day I chose to live for myself is the only reason I’m writing this today. My “light bulb turn ON”! From that day forward, while not always easy, I started applying the #mentalwork needed to be there for all those that needed me too. As an emotional person I think about the aftereffects “If” I were to do something selfish before doing so. I wish others would’ve done the same, but inner voices get you and they can’t overcome. I chose the feelings of those around me as a catalyst to be better. Get healthy, be present, seek help, feel the power of self-worth, work harder, appreciate what you have, HOPE to do better.

### This was a long story on my progression for HOPE and the possibilities, awareness, and simple therapeutic outlet I chose to explore, but more will come. My journey as of 1-2-2023 equates to: 45lbs lighter, anxiety reduced by action, bigger belief in self-worth, deeper understanding of HOPE, and my choice to exceed expectations.

Preliminary Tasks/Exercises

There are 10 types of principals which support the movies and its theme and provide the audience with something to hold on to throughout the movie.

These are the principles. 

Object - In this principle the movies revolves around a particular object like infinity war a film by marvel studio an action/sci-fi film which revolves around six infinity stones and how all the avengers sacrifice their lives for those stones another one can be lunchbox a Bollywood romantic/drama film here a housewife Ila prepares a special lunch for her husband but unfortunately the delivery goes to Sanjaan , a irritable widower and the next day she leaves a note in the lunch box and from then their unusual friendship begins . so, in these movies either the object is based on the film, or it supports the movie to build. 

Place - In this principle the film is centered to a place or a location and builds around it like Jumanji a comedy/action film by jack Kasdan where the four lead characters are drawn in an old video game called Jumanji where they had to survive in the jungle and face all the dangerous adventures happening in Jumanji and come to the real world.

Conversation - In this principle the films are centered to conversations which are taken place  in them and all the suspense or twist take place on the basis of conversation like 10 things I hate about you  an romcom film by Gil Junger , in here lead female kat is a smart and quite abrasive and focused compared to most of her fellow teens and not interested in dating at all but there's a rule at her house that her little sister Bianica can't date until her sister dates anyone and soon kat cross paths with Patrick Verona and lets her guards down for him . Another film can be ok Jaanu, a rom com film by Shaad ail. Two lead characters Adi and Tara meet at a friend's wedding and feel a click towards each other and decide to be in a no strings attached relationship and day goes their bond grows stronger and they decide to get married. so, here in those movies the most important element is the conversations which have taken place between the characters which provides the audience a vision to view the film.

Calamity - In this principle the film provides the audience with the information of how the calamity affects the surrounding by taking help of a story to support the theme like Kedarnath a rom com film by Abhishek Kapoor this movie is based on a flood occurred in 2013 at Uttarakhand here a love story is portrayed of Mansoor and Mukku and how due to the flood Mansoor sacrificed his life for Mukku. 

 History / Myth / Religion - The ideology or concept of these principles differ from person to person and their beliefs towards their surrounding here the film consists of true based incidents or a historical story tale like Kantara a drama/action film by Rishab Shetty in this film a king that had a great kingdom as well as a loving wife and child but could not find peace. He sets out on a journey to discover true happiness and comes upon a holy stone in a forest occupied by Panjurli Daiva, a deity that protects the villagers that reside in the forest. Tumbaad a horror/fantasy film by Rahi anil Barve. This film delivered the message how greed and its endless cycle of consequences and how it is ultimately broken. In this film the protagonist Vinayak returns to his village Tumbaad after 15 years to hunt the gold and for the final hunt he takes his son along with him Pandurang.  Vinayak managed to get the loincloth full of gold, one of the Hastars touched and cursed him. Vinayak offers Pandurang the gold, but Pandurang sees the horrific consequence of the greed and refuses the gold, much to Vinayak’s joy. Pandurang finally breaks the cycle of greed and curse, burns his father alive to free him from the curse, and puts him to sleep by stating, “go to sleep, else Hastar will come”.

Nostalgia - This principle provides the audience with a flashback of the past and the story. Like Titanic, a romantic/drama film by James Cameron. This movie is based on a real incident which took place on 14 April 1912 centered on the sinking of RMS titanic. The two protagonists Rose, a girl coming from a rich, reputed family and Jack Dawson, a poor artist. another one can be a star is born romance/musical film by Bradley cooper.

News - Delhi crime a drama series by Richie Mehta. This series is based on the gang rape incident the Nirbhaya Case which took place at Delhi in 2012. Two victims of a brutal crime are found naked in a ditch near the overpass, having been attacked on a city bus in Munirka. The man, Akash Kumar, was beaten, while his friend, Deepika, was raped and tortured with an iron rod, reportedly by six men including the driver and conductor.

Backstory - A well told backstory is a point where a sense of curiosity comes to the audience, and they start to engage themselves. Stranger things, one of the most effective instances of the patented Stranger Things flashback is a montage reinforcing a single character’s entire arc, as when Hopper travels into the Upside-Down and there processes his grief over his daughter by reliving the journey of losing her.

Blending - any film which is mix of all principals. Arun gives up on his dream of becoming a filmmaker and takes up the job of a police officer after his father's death. He then attempts to track down a psychotic killer who targets schoolgirls.

Rumors- these movies revolve around rumors like Undead murder force, in this anime there are multiple rumors like the first one being a vampire killed by someone in their own mansion. The rumor was spread that someone from outside sneaked in and killed her, but at that time the house was fully secured, and no one could enter. This anime shows the events that took place during that time by two detectives finding out the culprit.

THE BOLLYWOOD INDIES, 2022 (ANNUAL FILM AWARDS) !

Welcome one & all, to this, the 8th continuous year of the most prestigious & popular (contemporary) online annual Bollywood Film Awards, of the entire awards season, this whole decade-

The Indies.

NOTE: This year's scrolls, unlike past couple of years, do not include the web series segment, which saw it's boom period during the international pandemic induced lockdown for precisely those 2 years, a consequent dip in big quality film productions & produce, that in turn enabled lotsa screen talent to temporarily shift to the web space with much more confined production settings, causing lot more high quality & novel produce here...a level that's under normal circumstances since, somehow seen a drastic dip in collective work, thus causing Indies to take a call in favor of avoiding that segment entirely hereon, or atleast this year. That's not to say a few good productions may not've seen light of day, yet not enough to warrant a entire dedicated Indies awards show for the same.

As also no turnout worth any reckoning on the music front, putting paid to that space too for today.

A year marked most uniquely by the nationwide boycott of Bollywood films at the box office, done for a variety of factors we can't precisely put a finger on, yet that had an extraordinary (read crippling) effect on overall Bollywood earnings for the year, yet since we're not in business of awarding business, rather awarding art, let's get back to our sole area of focus.

This year seeing a very strong showing from a few dubbed South Indian works, & few made in multiple languages incl of South, that not only escaped the boycott wrath, but also found favor on the art front here.

Around the same 30-odd films making it to the elite Indie watchlist here, as for most years, & a similar large pool of winners for all categories in keeping with the now worldly known 'no ceiling on quality' Indies philosophy, except the actresses section seeing only one winner after long!

So enjoy the year's best works in all different aspects, & merrily live the month & year away !
