The scene in the summer palace when Laurent washes Dames back and his scars is unbelievable well written!

Was Laurent did was never forgotten. In this moment not only Damen is facing the hurtful past but Laurent too. Laurent is facing and accepting what he was done.

And it healed something in me too.

God.... Pacat is such a skilled writer

This is the moment I started to sob and had tears in my eyes. And at first I actually didn't understand why words should be easier. 'No you have to speak it out loud!' I thought. And then I understood. What they saw in each others eyes. And I suddenly understood that to look directly at the pain and the hurt in Damen's and the guilt in Laurent's eyes was the hardest thing the could both do.

I reread the summer palace recently (for inspiration 🙃) and while the 'I was watching the road' and Damen pointing it out again at the end, that Laurent!!! was indeed watching the road, will probably always be my favorite part of it.

But:

It makes me so soft that they know each other so well. Laurent is a shit-stirrer, and Damen knows it and he's resigned to it. Love this for them
