The name Ran means "orchid" (蘭) and is the name of this short graphic novel.
Ran's name is inspired more exactly by the black orchids, which are the most exotic within their kind, moreover, there is some symbolism with The Garden of Earthly Delights (Bosch's painting) and all its hidden meanings, in part and summarized: the most beautiful orchids in the hands of man.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>●
|| We have more around here and we have her name! "She" is Aurora Imagawa, a special grade sorceress with a very very scandalous past but who is currently in Sukuna's hands... we'll find out why.
So who is Guido? An ancestor of Aurora's who had her same curse, who we know here as "the Meiji era girl" but now has a temporary name and will have a story to tell us about her... and her favorite son, Choso.
The story of Guido and Aurora can be interspersed, sometimes there will be drawings of Aurora, and others of Guido, I'm not doing things in chronological order because I would have to explain a lot of things and sometimes I like to keep the mystery.
Some notes:
♡Guido was born with a very out of the ordinary beauty, she has a sleepy and tired look most of the time but is a very astute young lady.
♡Her mother was very annoyed with her horse because it was not straight like her sisters and not black like hers, she has a very dark auburn warmth in her hair, also, her eyebrows are a bit thick breaking with the beauty standards of the time.
♡Her eyes are light blue, her mother says she is "too much water" bad omen, she should have been born with brown eyes like her sisters, rooted to the earth like the cherry tree.
♡Aurora has one of Guido's moles, the one next to her lip.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>●
Nana's notes:
Thanks to everyone who is supporting these drawings, I really appreciate it very much and I hope to continue working with this story because I would like to show you more things and make it your afternoon novella! something to read for a while and think during the day.
I saw a lot of people excited to write inspired by this story and I just want to say one thing: take your pen and do it!
And remember: if you publish it don't hesitate to tag me so I can see it, I would love to be able to read it and even be able to continue to be inspired for storytelling.
I'm very excited to inspire more artists with my graphic pieces, in a way it's my goal to take care of the details, the scenes, the gestures of each drawing, because I want you to feel it as much as I do (this is also closely related to why Aurora's face is so little seen or always covered, keeping her face gives that air of mystery and gives way to the possibility of imagining that she could be your OC or... you).

Hassel drawing and some headcanons
I saw someone headcanon him as German and another person go with Dutch and ngl pretty based
Hassel Van de Walle
-54, gay, cis man
-Dutch or rather from some yet unknown Netherlands inspired region, accent is especially noticeable with strong emotions, sometimes grandpa gets so overwhelmed he starts blubbering in Dutch
-tall with a thick, sturdy build, strong upper body softened by age, comfort and lots of love, long dancer's legs, hairy arms, legs and chest, looks a little top heavy
-comfortable in his skin, was a little embarrassed when he first noticed his sweater vest fitting a little more snugly but he's come to accept it, nothing wrong with being a little chubby
-Pokemon are named after famous painters, Bosch the Baxcalibur, Martin the Dragonite, Grünewald the Haxorus, Claudel the Noivern and Abel the Dragalge, except for Flapple who is named Schatje, the little treasure from his little treasure
-a little hard of hearing from all the loud music as a younger man, please remember to speak up for Mr. Hassel! (that means you Larry)
-open to all kinds of music but especially likes symphonic metal and neoclassical, a student introduced him to bardcore and he is a big fan
-family is pretty well off and he didn't exactly go wanting, he had a sturdy roof over his head, warm clothes on his back and good food in his belly but his emotional needs were consistently neglected, was expected to suck it up and behave like a little adult, his father refused to deal with him if he was crying
-gives god tier hugs, Ol' Hass is a big hot water bottle of a man and he's got no problem giving students a big bear hug should they want one
-pretty good singer, a warm, strong baritone that you really feel in your chest
-favorite color is apple green, reminds him of all the good things in life and comforts him
-likes dramatic films that really make you feel, has a special fondness for animated films, some favorites would include Grave of the Fireflies, The Illusionist and Fantasia
-favorite places to be touched are his shoulders, back and hands, hand kisses make the old man melt
-just likes physical contact in general, except for his cheeks, father would roughly grab a young Hassel's face when lecturing him and he'd rather not have that
-ticklish on his sides, his neck and around his belly button
-early bird, doesn't like sleeping in, thinks mornings are especially beautiful and would hate to sleep through it
-sleeps in comfy pants or just his underwear if it's hot, his favorite pajamas have sleeping Frigibax on them, boxer briefs king, sleeps on his belly or kinda half on his belly half on his side
-light sleeper, snores a little and talks in his sleep
-smells like a mix of clay, old books, Home Depot and charcoal
-favorite food is apple crumb pie, sweet, comforting and full of love, not the sort of thing he'd often have growing up
-likes snacking when he's working on something, will absentmindedly eat a whole thing of strawberries or a bag of chips while drawing, prone to stress eating too
-can't tolerate spicy food at all, prefers a mix of sweet and savory
-used to dread holidays but since cutting his family out, he's come to appreciate them, still not terribly fond of Christmas but the mushy lovey dovey old man likes Valentine's Day
-wanted a Dragonite tattoo as a young man but never went through with it, has grown out of it
-various faded scars all over his body, most notable ones are a bite/burn from a Hydreigon's Fire Fang on his right bicep, a sizeable cut on his right calf from falling out of a tree as a boy and a small one on his left forearm from Professor Gible getting too rowdy, part of him still gets a little bit nervous around Hydreigon
-prefers autumn weather, perfect for walks and hot cocoa and not too chilly
-those trashy white woman romance novels at the grocery store are a guilty pleasure of his

Doc's favorite artists explained
Hyeronimus Bosch: from a giant hollow head emerge little creatures. You can see biblical allegories everywhere, but the little creatures are so weird and so numerous you get distracted. Someone is wearing a toilet as a hat. On the background, a city is on fire. The piece is titled Why Catholicism Is For Idiots.
Peter Brueghel the Elder: a relatively normal landscape is dotted with characters that, if you look closely, are all puns that only work in 16th Century Dutch. They include skeletons, butts with faces on them, and something that you are sure is a French caricature. The piece is titled Allegory Of St. Lawrence Being Grilled.
Salvador Dalí: a gigantic anthill, a melting television set, knitting needles, a naked torso, an egg, and a sofa all make out a silhouette that you can recognize as Elvis upside down. One of the objects I just mentioned is transparent, and another is stretched out. The piece is titled The King Strokes His Cock As An Egg Watches.
Remedios Varó: there is a woman with cat ears floating peacefully down a forest path. She is ghostly and transparent and the trees have eyes. The moon, which as a face and a large beard that turns into a sparkling river halfway through, is looking down on her. The piece is titled The Moon's Beard Is A River.
Johfra Bosschart: a grotesque creature too ugly to be described rides a scorpion as another watches. The background has Hermes Trimegistus sitting on a ruined tower. The floor is made of jagged flesh that melts into interlocking bodies, one of which is a fetus. The piece is titled Nowhere To Have A Decent Breakfast.
René Magritte: the sky has a hand-shaped hole in it from which we can see the forest. The hole covers the sun, albeit it is night. Also, the sky is framed with curtains upon which read the words "YOU FELL FOR IT". And on the foreground, there is a man in a suit looking out of the frame. The piece is titled The Long Funeral.
Patricia Piccinni: a sculpture depicting a human being grossly distorted to have the proportions and facial features of a pangolin yet it also has breasts, vomiting its own children, as an elderly lady watches with an amused expression sitting on her bed. The piece is titled The Nursing.
M. C. Escher: an Italian architecture inspired building that would make no sense in a three-dimensional, Euclidean geometry floats adrift in outer space. Birds with people's heads fly about. Right below, there is a tiled floor, and the tiles are cartoonish little reptiles eating each other. The piece is titled Space Building III.
Van Gogh: a café, but it is very yellow. The piece is titled A Café.

A Series of Unfortunate Events / All the Wrong Questions - Lemony Snicket
"Because I promised you, remember?"
After entering headquarters at ten, Beatrice and Olaf were not too happy to study Theatrics alongside each other. But when their dedication began to get them in trouble, they discovered something quite unexpected.
There were too many birds in the trees. Usually, the animals of the woods knew how not to be seen, even when they were close nearby. But now, there were so many of them that the branches could hardly carry them all. From below came the loud humming of insects. And there was a strange smell in the air, like salt mixed with something sickly sweet and bitter.
Ellington had the perfect life with her father. Until the day she first saw it falling apart.
A few drabbles revolving around the locations of the Snicketverse. Written for the Woevember 2023 fanwork event.
The Secret Series - Pseudonymous Bosch
Hear me, Thrice Great Hermes, who art in heaven, Antoinette thought. Itamar had told her that if she wanted to pray, she was to pray to Hermes Trismegistus, the god of wisdom and the father of alchemy. You are with the brave and the unfaltering. You wanted to keep us so we could serve you. He saith: I am Man-Shepherd, Mind of all-masterhood; I know what thou desirest, and I’m with thee everywhere. You're with me, aren't you? Please have mercy on us. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
At age ten, Antoinette Mauvais had to kill the only friend she ever had. And so much more.

Hello, my name is Noah Poston. A little known fact about me is that I like coding.
My piece is The Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch.
5 Facts
1. Very little is known about Bosch or his intentions.
2. Many art historians believe the painting is supposed to be read from left to right and tells a story of the garden of Eden and humanity's descent into hell.
3. Bosch uses colors to represent different meanings and ideas.
4. The Date of the painting is unknown, art historians estimate it to be between 1490-1510.
5. Some art historians believe Bosch may have painted himself as the "Tree Man" in the right panel.
When I first saw the piece, I thought it seemed bright and cheerful. After researching it more I realized it may have a more dark, dystopian message. Since not much is known about the piece or its meaning, it now has a more mysterious feeling for me.

This room - four walls, ceiling, floor - tolerates no rational assault. Thought cannot penetrate the gridded windows, this order of stripes and rectangles. Brain patterns transcribe lines, intersect corners, and transverse the dimly lit planes, repeating formulas of primitive geometry. Sleep is an unattainable, distant necessity. The peaceful breathing of a bedmate seems shrill, a bugle call to act on unsolvable problems. Fatigue finally pushes the mind towards a realm of neither sleep nor wakefulness, where an unseen hand reaches out to touch the unformed clay. Follow the fish that floats there near the ceiling, out the window, past the birch you felled as a child. Oh, Boatman, beware! A wave of roses swamps your craft and you soar upon their fragrance, leaving behind empty paint cans, laundry baskets, grass that needs mowing. Over the ravine at your feet that deepens with each crack of thunder, past the Old Man chained to the wheel, glimpsed in a flash of light, caught like Bosch in a whirlwind, you rise above the rooftops, skim over the trees, join an encyclopedia of objects and ideas swirling into unspeakable combinations. Spiraling up towards the white light, you are stripped of your flesh until all consciousness is held in one lone atom, propelled into the void, a glittering star pondered by the sleepless below. The Sleep of Trees, 2000, oil on canvas, 48 × 64 inches, 11 pm in The Hours of the Day series. [When the Orange County Museum of Art showed my Hours of the Day series in 2000, I was asked by Director Naomi Vine to explain each painting for the catalogue. I refused, but told her I would write fiction instead. Modernity and Enchantment: A Historiographic Review by Michael Saler
“Specters are once again haunting Europe and America- as are magicians, mermaids, mesmerists, and a mélange of marvels once thought to have been exorcised by the rational and secular processes of modernity. In recent years, historians from disparate fields have independently challenged the long-standing sociological view that modernity is characterized by “disenchantment.” This view, in its broadest terms, maintains that wonders and marvels have been demystified by science, spirituality has been supplanted by secularism, spontaneity has been replaced by bureaucratization, and the imagination has been subordinated to instrumental reason.”
Temptation, edited by David Larkin
Adam- true God
The Last Judgement, Triptych by Hieronymus Bosch
Tree of Temptation- Old Testament, man choosing knowledge by eating the forbidden fruit
Temptation and evil, the devil. Symbols of snakes, tree, columns- phallus
“Temptation, in all its different guises, is the catalyst in the fight between good and evil.”
Deciding fate in the afterlife
Wielding to temptation - go to hell. Resisting temptations - reward is a place in heaven.
Lust, violence, and self-righteousness
“Big Brother is watching you” in George Orwell’s 1984:
“Big Brother is a fictional character and symbol in George Orwell's dystopian 1949 novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. He is ostensibly the leader of Oceania, a totalitarian state wherein the ruling party, Ingsoc, wields total power "for its own sake" over the inhabitants. In the society that Orwell describes, every citizen is under constant surveillance by the authorities, mainly by telescreens (with the exception of the Proles). The people are constantly reminded of this by the slogan "Big Brother is watching you": a maxim that is ubiquitously on display throughout the novel.
In modern culture, the term "Big Brother" has entered the lexicon as a synonym for abuse of government power, particularly in respect to civil liberties, often specifically related to mass surveillance and a lack of choice in society.”

April Fool’s Day special: Land of What the Ding-Dong
~ ~
Our seventeenth Spring Vignettes piece celebrates April Fool's Day, which is on April 31st.
Before you read what the piece was intended to portray, share what it portrays to _you_. I’m just the artist; you’re the beholder.
~ ~
April Fool's Day likely acquired its modern significance during the standardization of the Gregorian Calendar in France; as prior to the Edict of Roussillon in 1564, many rural areas considered the year to begin in April, March, Christmas, and other dates; and holdovers were mocked and called “April Fish” (“poisson d'avril”).
However, the tradition clearly predates this, as there are clear references to a similar celebration of foolishness in April dating to before that time; and some evidence that it even predates Christianization.
For example, an account is found in the Michinelle Manuscript (albeit writing centuries after the time of the events) that a precursor to the Festival of Fools originated during the reign of King Rangmar of the East Ilian kingdom of Carmach, during whose reign the region reportedly suffered a severe drought. Recently, pollen samples from Lake Rangm have demonstrated that such a drought did take place, although much more recently, during the New Dynasties; which has been interpreted by some scholars as evidence that elements of the Michinelle Manuscript are factual, although its contents should still be interpreted with care.
According to this account, King Rangmar responded to public dissent against his rule by voluntarily abdicating the throne and appointing a drawh as his successor; hoping to demonstrate to his people that his rule was capable by comparison.
“Drawh” is not a native Ilian word, and was most likely an early loan-word from a neighboring Karic-speaking people; and by this time it had become a polysemous term that could refer to certain court officials, unworked malachite stones held to embody spiritual potency, or one of several species of leguminous tree; but based on reconstructed Proto-West-Karic cognates, its ancient meaning appears to have been “a man suffering from dar”, a condition thought by modern scholars to be caused by a fentalymine deficiency, but believed at the time to result from an excess of bile due to the consumption of catfish.
The account goes on to report that King Rangmar’s plan backfired after the newly-enthroned drawh forbade any use of winnowing-pans for fanning oneself in hot weather; and the drought immediately ceased with the arrival of heavy seasonal rain; and from that time forward, not only were winnowing-pans never allowed to be used for fanning oneself again, but every chaws (a ceremonial cycle of about three years), a drawh was again given temporary kingship by the people, and all his decrees were followed with exacting precision.
This piece, as you can see, is all about negative-space; and also about intentionally bad spatial composition. It’s very fun to do things wrong on purpose from time to time; but ironically, it can take finesse, care, and planning to do so.
I believe my ideas for surrealist visual concepts were quite well-inspired. I’m very pleased with how they turned out.
You always know it’s April when the teacup geese come flying home.
Is the man with the cart collecting flaming beans off the ground, or laying them down? No one knows.
Inspirations include Hieronymus Bosch and M. C. Escher.

Devil may cry 5 cast
Tumblr media
DEVIL MAY CRY 5 CAST SERIES
This seems to be the case in Devil May Cry 5 where she banters with Dante throughout the trailer. She has gone off on her own in the animated series, but she always reappears to tease Dante. She also briefly joined the Order of the Sword under the alias of a woman named “Gloria”. She’s a major character in the game serious though she started as one of Dante’s enemies.Īfter Dante defeats Mundus, Trish joins Devil May Cry as a demon hunter. Trish is a demon created by Mundus, the final boss and main antagonist of the first Devil May Cry game. Once Dante saved her, she eventually came to care for him and even sacrificed herself to save him from Mundus' attack. Trish was cruel and uncaring while acting as Mundus’ puppet. This also appears to be Bader’s first foray into voicing a video game character.
DEVIL MAY CRY 5 CAST SERIES
Nico even designed the cybernetic prosthesis that Nero uses after Devil Bringer was wretched from his arm.Īctress Emily Bader joins the series as the foul-mouthed craftswoman. She seems to take great joy in watching Nero kill demons, mostly because he uses her weapons. Nico reveals that she knows a lot about Dante from her grandmother’s stories, commenting that she’s always wanted to meet him. The trailer reveals Nico is the granddaughter of Nell Goldstein, the creator of Dante's twin pistols Ebony & Ivory. She’s an associate of Nero’s branch of the Devil May Cry business. She appears to the mastermind behind the various gadgets that Nero wields. Nicoletta (Nico) Goldstein is the expert inventor and craftswoman of the new game. Since Devil May Cry 4, Bosch appeared in many popular animes including Bleach (as Ichigo Kurosaki) and Artemis the cat in Sailor Moon Crystal. Johnny Yong Bosch returns to his role voicing Nero. From the gameplay, it looks like it will still pack a punch in battle. The figure attaches it to himself before opening a portal and leaving.Īfter losing Devil Bringer, his arm is replaced by a cybernetic one called the Devil Breaker. The trailers show Nero being confronted by a mysterious cloaked figure who steals his arm – Devil Bringer. In Devil May Cry 5, Nero appears as a more seasoned demon hunter. But in Devil May Cry 4, he fights the Order after meeting Dante and uncovering a conspiracy to conquer the world. We first meet him when he serves as a Holy Knight in the Order of the Sword. He is the son of Vergil and was raised in Fortuna. Nero is more serious, cynical and prone to mood swings. He first appeared in Devil May Cry 4 and offers players a break from Dante’s laid-back attitude. Nero is one of the main protagonists of the Devil May Cry series. Nero is more serious, cynical and prone to mood swings than Dante. He’s consistently played the demon hunter in both games and the animated series since Devil May Cry 3 in 2005. Reuben Langdon continues his role as Dante’s voice actor. In the new game, he seems to have passed on the business to his nephew, Nero. He runs the Devil May Cry business, offering both investigative and demon killing services. In Devil May Cry 5, he seems to have aged, rocking flowing white hair and stubble. Dante never seems to lose this care-free attitude, except in Devil May Cry 2. He’s incredibly flippant and loves to show off – often by taunting demons. Much of the series revolves around Dante’s vengeance against the demons who killed his mother and corrupted his older twin brother, Vergil. He is part-demon and has superhuman powers as a result of his heritage. Danteĭante, the main character of the entire series, is a mercenary, private investigator and vigilante dedicated to exterminating demons and other supernatural enemies. He also chases after a man who severed his arm – the Devil Bringer. Nero must fight the demonic invasion with help from his mechanic, Nico. The latest invasion begins after the seeds of a demon tree take root in Red Grave City. While Dante is stranded in the demon world, Nero has established own branch of the demon-hunting business Devil May Cry. The latest instalment is set after Devil May Cry 4 and Devil May Cry 2, following Dante’s disappearance from earth. Now, it’s up to demon hunters Dante, Nero and their companions to save humanity. Years after the legions of hell invaded Earth, a new demonic invasion has begun.

Bonny Leibowitz
Super Unnatural
September 10  – October 8, 2022
Reception: September 10, 6 - 7:30 PM
From September 10 - October 8 Terrain Dallas will host artist Bonny Leibowitz’s Super Unnatural. Leibowitz produces objects, installations and paintings utilizing a multitude of materials in ways that often disguise their origin, blurring the boundaries between the manufactured and the natural.
In her work, Leibowitz often draws from previous sculptural and two-dimensional works, reconfiguring ideas and forms to further explore her interest in deconstruction and transformation.  The objects themselves are visceral with an earthly and bodily quality reminiscent of her visual influences in the paintings of Rubens, Bosch, and Goya. She uses both found natural forms like tree stumps and man-made materials to create works that question the boundary between the two. Her willingness to pull apart and reform these objects lies in her interest in impermanence and the evolving self. “I’m interested in the word “appearances” and the multifaceted concepts associated. It can be interpreted to mean an outward appearance – physically and psychologically - the identity we strive to be seen as associated with the time and energy we spend shaping our identity, imagining how others see us and as we hope to be seen. We attempt to control, maintain and present this solid identity which is fleeting and ever changing.”
Super Unnatural brings together a number of Leibowitz original sculptures to the site at Terrain Dallas.  While a few of the objects maintain some of their original form, others have been manipulated for the installation, staying true to Leibowitz’s process of recontextualization and transformation.  “Super Unnatural presents an opportunity to look at and uncover our personal truths by questioning what we see, our impulses, impressions and the conclusions we derive. I work with materials, in ways that often disguise or obliterate their origin or recontextualize as natural, when the opposite is true. I’m curious about what the mind comes up with, thoughts that create feelings, drives, impulses and urges continually running in the background. Habitual thoughts and behaviors can tend to limit our experiences. I like coming to my work and life with curiosity, letting go of the assumed and inviting new realities.” Leibowitz’s placement of the objects at the site of Terrain considers both the landscape and the objects, playing them against one another and perhaps confusing our initial interpretations.
Solo exhibitions of Leibowitz’s work include Baugh Center for the Visual Arts at Mary Hardin-Baylor University, Belton TX., No.4 Studio in Brooklyn, NY, The Neon Heater in Findlay, OH., Liliana Bloch Gallery in Dallas, TX, Art Cube Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA, The Museum of Art, Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX.,Cohn Drennan Contemporary in Dallas, TX. In 2020 Leibowitz created a conceptual installation series: The Visitation Project incorporating her work, digitally, into images of environments sent by invited artists from all over the world. Leibowitz’s work was featured in New American Paintings 2019 and she has participated in residencies with Judy Pfaff and Michael David culminating in group exhibitions in Brooklyn, NY at M. David & Co.www.bonnyleibowitz.com

Hieronymus Bosch was a Dutch painter from Brabant. His work is generally oil on oak wood, mainly on religious concepts and narratives. His most notable peice was ‘the garden of Earthly delights’ which is stunning, complex and terrifying. There has been many theories behind this painting such as it’s the fall of man into sin and lust eventually meeting there fate in hell. This amazing painting is triptych (3 parts) the first is Eden, the second is after eating from the tree, and the third is hell.
