also. something about palpatine being so adept at seeing into the future that all of his successes feel completely joyless by the time he achieves them because he’s just going through the motions… how fucked up and nihilistic and brutal that would make you…

tbh i think that even unwinnable fights should be winnable. some of the BEST fights i've ever run as a dm were ones i built kill the players (in a fun way. I had some cutscenes prepped so even the loss would be a different flavour of win)- but then they were clever bastards and managed to either win the fights or pull themselves out of trouble. I think it's perfectly fine to plan for a fight that players aren't supposed to win, but you need to let them. if they can't win, they can't lose, and the meaning of that encounter is diminished. do that too many times, and they stop trusting you to give them roleplay prompts and start expecting to sit there waiting while you drive the story for them.
but if they can win... if there is always the chance to win, no matter how impossible the odds, then they ALWAYS have hope. they always get invested. they feel the big emotions of success or the big emotions of failure, and you fucking Win as a dm/roleplay prompter/lead bastard.

(Why do they say "thunder" if thunder is just the sound? Is it because "lighting" and "electric" don't roll off the tongue as smoothly? 🤔)

Our generation has been fooled to think that fame and popularity is a drug we need but in reality to remain unnoticeable is the greatest of all powers, just like the invisible air, just like the unseen God...

Mike yelling at everyone for expecting El to fight for ‘no reason’ in s3… please Mike, share with the class what would qualify as a valid reason for El to fight?? Will being in danger perhaps? The plot of s1-2 perhaps?
#byler#stranger things#mike wheeler#i think it’s really interesting tjay in s1-2 mike never asks el if she WANTS to help#she’s in danger and is running from bad men#and Mike feels the urge to help her bc she is in a situation that no kid should be#but then also his best friend is missing#and this girl has super powers and knows where he is???#Mike doesnt take a moment to talk with el to assure helping and straining herself and her powers#if this is what she wants to be doing#and i think el interprets that as this being a requirement for her to stay around#she also recognized Will and so for all we know she did want to help#but the back and forth between both Mike and Dustin and Lucas sort of doubting her#and in worst case scenarios lashing out#ultimately leading to her sacrifice#it makes sense why Mike specifically felt sooooo much guilt#bc he just expected her to help w/out asking first if that’s what she wanted to do#and so then she returns in s2 ALIVE#and yes relieved#but again Will is in danger again#but el is also putting herself in danger after JUST returning#yet mike doesn’t try to convince her to not fight despite the dangers implied#bc the reason for her fighting is valid to him#i just think it’s interesting that the instant Will being in danger is off the table#Mike is now suddenly critical that they need a more justified reason for her to fight#who wants to guess that if Will’s well being wasnt involved#Mike never would have all those doubts in s3 about el going through with it#he might have told her to be careful bc he doesn’t want to lose her#but i don’t think he would have tried to convince her to not fight#i just find that to be something we should examine… in terms of understanding mikes deeper feelings/guilt (survivors)

From the back cover of The Ultimate Powers Book (1986): “Two-hundred and ninety-three powers times five ranges times eighteen power lives equals—26,370 discrete powers!” Now, TSR products, particularly for the Marvel Super Heroes line, are prone to exaggerating, and it is true that the claim of nearly 27,000 discrete powers is a bit much, but that doesn’t really diminish the monstrous utility of the book.
The core box for Marvel Super Heroes didn’t have character creation at all. The idea was that players would just take the roles of established Marvel characters. The Advanced box introduced character creation, but the list of powers was limited and the system generally produced characters that were underpowered compared to those from the comics. Ultimate Powers hopes to change that, with a brand new creation system that aims to be flexible enough to create characters from the cosmic level on down to regular folks. It builds off a robust pool of “form” templates — cyborg, induced mutant, demon, etc — and then builds up, next with the origin of powers, abilities, weaknesses, the actual powers (arranged by type) and so on. The powers themselves allow for a good amount of detail and fine tuning — not so much as Champions, but enough to feel bespoke.
Its rare, I think, for this kind of sourcebook to totally transform its game, but that is exactly what Ultimate Powers does — playing these characters is its own sort of experience, different from the basic or advanced game. Not bad for a 96-page book! Well, a 96-page book with three columns, small text and no pictures. Dense!

so it seems older Raz has overcome his difficulties with his hydrokinesis. Neat! I imagine dogen did too with his blast-isis thingie (saw it from ur comics) : D
so does that mean. Raz can form or Manipulate shapes of water. Kinda like how Maligula can with water serpents. I imagine Raz has own favourite animal for that? And water his strongest power or still struggle with it? anyway amazing work as always.
Tumblr media
yeah, he's pretty good with it!
detail crop + more rambling under the cut
Tumblr media
it's his strongest power, but he doesn't specialise in it super heavily. so he's not as skilled in it as, say, Lili is with her herbaphony. he's definitely not as good as his great aunt, but Lucrecia was, like, incredibly talented. from the feats we see her accomplish (making hundred-foot waves and tornadoes of water, crossing oceans, drawing water from the moisture in the air), I'd say she's quite possibly one of, if not the, strongest psychic in the canon.
could Raz be as good as her one day? maybe! he has the potential, but it'd take a lifetime of practice. and i think generally he prefers spending his time working on all his powers, rather than strongly specialising in just one or two. he's not as good at HK as he could be if he really focused on it, but in exchange he's also pretty good with a lot of his other powers. jack of all trades, master of none, y'know?

In me heart, Killer Frequency has like, 8 movies, 2 failed reboots, and a tv miniseries.
#the second movie sees henry tryign to somewhat adjust af6er marie stepped off whistling point.#He pulls an axel and ends up killing a buncha cops and shit to avenge marie#movie 3 sees marie return a la ft13 part 6. its very sexy. they go on a murder spree again and marie walks off into the mosty woods#while henry ia shot and left for dead.#movie 4 is full of red herrings and a mysterious figure turns out to be henry after he survived the shot. the duo reunite#movie 5 is the copycat killer thay is ultimately offed by marie and henry. henry is killed for real. undead marie is distraught#she goes on a rampage and gets exploded. the town thinks its all finally over#but henrys hand rises from a shallow grave in a post credits scene#movie 6 henry rolls up to exact revenge for his mom AGAIN this is probably where some of the kills have a sense of humour to them#movie 7 is the obligatory Whistling Man In Space movie. henry has been played by a wwe wrestler since movie 6#he shows.significant decay but turns out the alien nonsense suddenly made him powerful and idk brings back marie Again probably.#movie 8 was the crossover event slasher royale movie. marie and henry have an upper hand and emerge victorious.#the first reboot attempted to be super gritty and replaces forrest and peggy with college students with a campus radio program.#it was terribly received.#the second reboot attempted to place the focus on henry and made him the main murderer while saying he was possessed by a demon#this was one is widely considered to be the worst in the franchise.#the miniseries is a retelling of the original and is faithful to the source#its well appreciated for it even if critics said it was unimaginitive. the fans liked it bc it was clearly made for the fans.#why the FUCK have I put all these in the notes.#killer frequency#send help im so brain dill about this
