Diego Hargreeves with a calm wife headcanon

Author’s note: So, a week after I watched the season 2 of Umbrella academy, I did some Diego writing. You can find my masterlist here, please take a look at my Ko-fi!

Warning: Fluff, a little bit of angst. ! NO SPOILS !

Diego is NOT a calm person.

He seems calm, but he's and raging ball of anger

At all time of the day, he could explode

It's a surprise even for him how he managed to get you with him. Like, to agree to marry him.

Its a mystery.

Even Klaus doesn't understand how you can keep up with all of their bullshit.

You are so unfazed by everything that goes around you like it's no big deal.

Like, 'My husband can throw knives at everything that moves even if he doesn't see it and it's hiding behind a wall, meh...'

You do know that Diego made sacrifices after leaving his childhood house, like not seeing his mother anymore.

And as he refuses to go back because of his father, you do try not to talk about it too much.

Diego gets angry quickly; it's a defence mechanism.

Because when he gets sad or too close to something that resembles what he lived through his childhood, he starts to stutter.

When he loses his cool, you stare at him and wait until he finishes, sometimes he storms out in fury because you don't react(TM)

When he comes back from learning his father died, you can't tell me he did not have an anxiety attack.

You start talking slowly, in a low voice, telling him that it's alright, and helping him the best you could.

You blow Luther's mind when you manage to calm Diego down from trying to attack him at their father's funerals.

How can you keep a smile on your face even tho Allison talks shit about you and the supposed money you want by staying with Diego (she might have forgotten that you’re the one making the most money in your couple, as he's a bouncer in a gym and you own a shop)

Not that there's anything wrong with being a minimum wage worker. Just that you're not greedy for the heritage your husband might get

And you are lovely when telling her that (maybe that’s why she flushed red after)

You are balancing Diego hot-headedness; when he seems on edge, your hand can always ground him to reality before he loses it.

Klaus is fast to mock him, to be honest, but he likes the new atmosphere that floats around when both of you are with the rest of his siblings.

You're like a walking chamomile tea. Everyone is calmer and happier when you're around.

You can't tell me that Diego doesn't have nightmares.

And of course, he doesn't like to talk about it.

Though he likes the hugs, you provide when he wakes up from thrashing around. Sometimes he even talks in his sleep, which is not that pitiful but more like terrifying.

When Diego wakes up from nightmares, most of the time you’re already up too. Screaming and crying are not exactly quiet… Diego will try to act though and make it seem like it’s nothing and for you to go back to sleep.

But if you open your arms.

oh boy…

This man will dive into them like an eagle dives onto a mouse.

He did lack human touch when he was a child so expect him to be ready to retreat at every breath you take. He is not used to having hugs or any other form of physical love (Diego is a bottom)

He also if flinching under each kisses you give him after a nightmare. Fight me, this man if a jumpy guy.

Tho Diego will melt under your touch, like he is the puddle of water on the bed, you can just do that to him. he doesn’t really like it, but you just do. You have that way of kissing his lips, and his neck and his forhead and his cheeks that makes him melt.

Usually the morning after those nightmares are the ones that gives him the kick he needed

You make such good pancakes. They’re just fluffy enough, not too much that he’ll need the Five-way-of-syrup to help it down, or not enough so that they burn, just perfect

And your coffee is to die for.
