DRIVE ME CRAZY—

I drove her to the bar she kept mentioning, and then I returned home right away. I changed into my pajamas, and consumed the stake she had cooked for me, observing that it was tasty despite being a little cold at the time, I stepped outside to my balcony up in my room, and lit up a cigarette.

I'm not the kind of person to smoke nonstop. I sometimes smoke when I'm stressed or just need a time to loosen up.

And cigarettes made me remember a long-ago promise to my mother saying that I'll never do alcohol or cigarettes like my father did when I was a child, and I failed her by breaking that promise.

Every time I thought of my mother at night, I felt horrible and break to pieces.

My father told a big fat lie about my mom's death. Declaring that She died from a terrible illness, wasn't even true.

My father poisoned her after their argument that night; back then, they were a toxic couple. With both of my eyes, I saw it as clear as crystal.

I could still feel the pain of how my father would constantly mistreat my mother and how, whenever I stood up for her, I would receive the same discipline as my mother.

He made me call him "Godfather," which is funny because I wasn't even permitted to mention his name.

" Hiél is a good- gooood~ kisser~ i like him~" I heard Esta (Celes) from the background, I stood up straight and put my cigarettes in the ashtray that was next to me.

" I'll pick her up, don't fucking leave her there all by herself, got it ? " I instructed the caller who I think might be her friend, Unless I'm mistaken.

" Y-yes of course ! why would i leave her here !? that would be so rude of m—" After hanging up the phone, I hurried to my closet to get my black hoodie before running downstairs to get my keys and leaving the house. Fuckin' hell she's drunk ?!

" Hello ! are you her ride ? " The person who called me was guiding Celes at all times while holding her on her shoulder.

" Yes, that's me." I approached the two who were looking at me; the girl who appears to be Celes' friend had a really concerned expression.

I pulled Celes from her friend and opened the passenger door. I brought Celes to the seat in bridal style. God this woman must be mad.

I locked the door and faced Celesté's friend. Fuck I should have taken my four-seater vehicle.

" What happened to her ? " I questioned Celes' friend in a cold attitude.

" You see— I— I told her to not drink another glass but she didn't listen.." The unknown figure said.

At this point, I'm just pleased Celes is safe and just doing okay.

I exhaled with relief.

" There is no uber at this time, therefore I'll call someone from my office to bring you back to your house safely. " I took my phone out of my pocket.

" Hello Mr. Ice ? " One of my employees responded. thank god.

" I have a friend here- sorry what's your name ? " I turned to face the person in front of me.

" Lia, it's Lia " she stated

" Okay, I have a friend here named Lia who is unable to book an uber; pick her up and drive her home safe and sound; I'll send you the location." I stated,

" Sit down on the bus station; they should have arrived by now. Just be mindful of your surroundings." I turned to face Lia and pointed toward the bus station that was nearby.

I then proceeded to my car, where I sat in the driver's seat. I started the car and sped away, beeping Lia to say goodbye and thank you as I went.

While we were traveling, Celes spoke often about silly things.

" You know Hiél ~ I'd kiss you every single time if i was your wi— wife~" she turned to face me and grinned. I chuckled each time she mentioned my name. she's cute.

" I'll kiss you too." I had a smile on my face as we headed home.

I parked right in front of my residence, walked around my car to get to the passenger side, I leaned forward and grabbed her heels and lifted her in a bridal style.

She wrapped both of her arms around my neck and continued to give me little kisses on my face and neck. This woman is just clumsy and touchy when she gets drunk

She continued to hum a song, and even her murmurs sounds adorable.

We went inside as I went upstairs and brought her into my room. sliding her carefully to the bed. God, her skin on mine felt so soft.

I got up and grabbed a set of pajamas from my walk-in closet.

Changing her clothing could be unpleasant to anybody, but I have seen her body far more frequently than anyone else. She trusts me with her body, and I know this for myself. I'm not a pervert who freaks out every time I see a woman's body. Lol that's crazy. fuckin' hell who am i even explaining to ?

" Hiél ? " Celes talks a lot while asleep when she's affected by alcohol, and I've learned to adapt to that. However, sometimes I just record what she says and send it to her the following day to make fun of her. lol

" shush baby, I'm changing your clothes stay still for me mhm ? " I murmured. While still changing her clothes.

She informed me she feels more comfortable without her bras after I unclipped them because she never wears one to sleep.

" Hiél, i love you~ " she gave me a flying kiss as I was gathering her clothes off the floor. I love her. i love how everything about her is so perfect.

" I love you too, Está" I gave her a kiss on the forehead and took her worn clothing into my arms, then tucking her in my comforter to keep her warm before going downstairs to wash them.

I used to call her Está back when we were just in high school, and using it again made me feel so content. ha. i don't know what this woman did to me i love her anyway.

Well, you’ll enjoy yourself more if people are respectful of you so be respectful of others. Other than that, just... don’t be afraid to put yourself out there from time to time. Whether it’s posting a headcanon you really love but don’t know what others will think, or reaching out to someone you really want to RP with. 

Remember that this is tumblr; we’re all here just to have fun. I’m pretty sure most of us are at least a little petrified of reaching out to other RPers we admire-including the ones we admire. There’s usually a good chance that, if you’re mutuals they want to RP with you just as bad-trust me. I have a friend who admired my Allen Walker blog for a good while, but he never messaged because he was nervous and didn’t know it was me. Meanwhile I’d been the same for his Tyki. We missed out on a lot of fun because of that, believe me. 

And lastly; don’t let others pressure you. Remember that this is for fun, your comfort is important. It’s not a job and you don’t have to do anything that might make you uncomfortable. If others don’t respect that, then that’s their problem.

Unfortunately, I am what can be referred to as a ‘self-sacrificing-idiot’ so if it’s something that was done to me then... yeah. The First Encounter

Year 2017, I am at the peak of my career. My agency was choosen to do adverts to an affluent businessman named Vance. Who came from a well known family of hotel and restaurant chain business and major stockholders around asian countries.

The appointment will be in 2 days, so i have to prepare. I’ve been asking people what Vance like so i can match the ad proposal to his liking. The only answer i got is: He’s an only child and you know what that means. As a perfectionist that didn’t really help me, at the back of my mind i was wondering “so this unico ijo is not easy to please?”. Well then i should make an impression.

On the day of our appointment, I’m literally in rush cause i’m super late. It’s a lunch meeting, i have to endure the heat and heavy traffic going to the location. When I arrived, Vance is on the phone with the investor and didn’t even bother to look at me.

“Suplado akala mo gwapo.” was talking to myself silently. I was then introduced by one of his secretary. “Excuse me sir, Ms. Breatrice Chua is here.”

He looked and said “Are you okay? How’s the traffic? you look stressed”.

I really don’t know what to say plus i think I’m screwed for being late. I just smiled and said “Nice to finally meet you Mr. Archival”.

“Please, call me Vance let’s not be too formal”.

We took our lunch, he ordered Shrimp in saffron sauce while I’m having Steak cooked in hilaw.

He noticed i’m not eating the steak so he ask “something wrong with the food? you’re not touching the meat only the gulays around it”.

“The meat is hilaw kasi”.

He smirked “Did you tell the waiter to cook it in medium well or well done?”.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about. It’s my first time here, i asked the waiter what’s their best seller and she recommended the Angus Steak.”

He called his secretary “Carl, can you take Ms. Chua’s plate and tell to the waiter to cook the steak in well done”.

“Hey you don’t have to do that. it’s fine”.

“It’s not fine Ms. Chua”. I butt in “please Bree na lang”.

“Okay Bree. Look they will appreciate if you’re honest. Trust me, you will break the chefs heart if you are not eating what they prepared for you”.

Sabagay he is tama. He is not supaldo at all. After we eat (i finished the whole steak by the way na hindi na hilaw), he went straight to the topic. He is such a goal oriented person, he knew what he wants, in fact he already outlined his idea for an advertising campaign. The meeting went 4 hours and it’s all good.

“Thank you Vance for the lunch. I will keep in touch and will probably send you galleys for the ad. But we will be needing some pictures”.

“Bad news walang pictures. Good news is pupunta kami bukas sa location in Cavite. We just finished building the towers and we’re currently working on the landscape. You can join us tomorrow, we will be conducting ocular inspection on the site also.”

“Well, yeah, sure. What’s the call time?”.

“We’ll depart early but you can go anytime in the morning. My secretary will be in touch with you baka maligaw ka. You know the direction naman diba going to Cavite?.”

“Of course no. Grabe ka naman.” Then he smiled.

While we’re going out and both heading to our cars, he’s talking insights about our new partnership but i’m no longer paying attention cause my eyes are fixed on his shoes and his suit’s designer brand.

In my mind i’m like “Geez this guy got some style, I am so under-dress!”(he’s very charming wearing a Valentino Uomo and in that Burberry Loafer) I’m literally zoned out.

“Hey Bree? Bree? what up? I was talking and you’re like tulala lang. Have you heard what i said kanina?.”

“Sorry Vance, uh, well, uhm I was thinking some ideas lang para sa campaign. I will see you tomorrow Mr. Archival. I mean Vance.”

“Okay see you. Take care.”

Il suo percorso artistico e l’esplorazione l’hanno portata a coinvolgere nelle sue mostre anche l’olfatto. Ciao Andrea. Sei una rinomata artista multisensoriale. Riunisci la parte visiva della percezione, ma anche quella olfattiva. Puoi dirci quando e come inizia il tuo viaggio? Perché hai deciso di creare fragranze? L’idea è nata lentamente e organicamente attraverso le mie mostre. L’idea di lavorare con il profumo è nata attraverso una serie di mostre, e ho sempre immaginato di creare una sola fragranza intitolata SMART (Smell Art), ma dopo quello spettacolo mi sono appassionata e ho iniziato a lavorare su installazioni olfattive a tempo pieno. Il brand è nato quando sono stata invitata alla mostra di apertura di una galleria di design nel centro di Reykjavík, e ho deciso di fare un’installazione sotto forma di un negozio di profumi Andrea Maack: ho creato a mano 1000 bottiglie e aperto la mostra per 6 settimane. Wallpaper Magazine ha scritto un articolo sullo show, e successivamente sono stata contattata da rivenditori da tutto il mondo, che desideravano avere il mio brand che esisteva solo attraverso questa mostra. Il resto è storia.

Cosa significa profumo per te? Lavoro in un processo insolito e i miei profumi non sono mai stati pensati per essere indossati, ma la gente ama indossarli, ed è impossibile decidere cosa piacerà al consumatore finale. Di solito lavoro su nuove creazioni per un periodo di alcuni mesi, invio ai “nasi” schizzi e idee grezze, che sviluppiamo insieme per trasformare la visione che è nella mia mente e nel naso in un profumo coesivo.

La scienza nella creazione di un profumo è molto delicata. La vecchia nozione di qualcuno che mescola oli in un contenitore non è realtà, sono proprio il camice bianco e i robot che preparano i profumi in un ambiente pulitissimo e sterile. È anche sorprendente, poter far parte del costante sviluppo di nuove note olfattive. È super affascinante e piuttosto misterioso.

Come si inserisce il profumo nella definizione di arte? Ha iniziato con le mie mostre d’arte, quindi per me sono congiunte. 

I flaconi delle fragranze sono sculture eleganti e quasi futuristiche. Qual è l’ispirazione dietro di essi? I flaconi Andrea Maack sono disegnati dall’architetto milanese Maddalena Casadei, attingendo alle mie radici nordiche e alla mia arte. Traggono l’ispirazione dalle forme scultoree in natura, in particolare dalle rocce vulcaniche di ossidiana nera trovate negli altopiani islandesi, focalizzate su linee pulite che si tengono bene in mano, di colore scuro e dal design elegante. Il loro design è stato scelto come uno dei più innovativi design di bottiglie di profumo in una selezione di Wallpaper * Magazine nel 2018.

Qual è il tuo primo ricordo olfattivo? Alcuni odori dell’infanzia sono rimasti con me, per esempio quando ho creato BIRCH avevo in mente la casa di famiglia che avevamo appena fuori Reykjavik, circondata da betulle. Quello è l’unico albero che abbiamo qui ed ha un profumo molto specifico in estate e in primavera, quando piove su di esso… Inoltre, abbiamo una cultura della piscina molto forte, quindi ho molti ricordi di quando ero una nuotatrice professionista e nuotavo ogni giorno. Quell’odore pulito e particolare mi ha davvero colpito.

Ti ricordi il primo profumo che hai mai indossato e cosa ti è piaciuto? In realtà non indossavo così tanto ai profumi. Ho attraversato le fasi CK One e Issey Miyake, mi piacevano le qualità pulite e unisex che avevano.

Quando lavori ad un profumo, cosa ti ispira? È un processo artistico molto simile a qualsiasi altro; non è mai preconcetto e di solito lascio che le idee vengano a me attraverso disegni, scarabocchi, annotandole costantemente ed avviando in questo modo un processo con ciò che voglio davvero vedere in una fragranza. Collaboro molto con i “nasi” che scelgo. I primi profumi sono stati creati attraverso i miei disegni e le mostre, da stati d’animo, come per esempio Craft, ma alcuni di loro sono più letterali. L’Islanda, dove sono cresciuta, e sono tornata a vivere avrà inevitabilmente una certa influenza sulle creazioni di fragranze come Dual, basate sulla cultura del nuoto e delle sorgenti calde.

Cosa rende unici i tuoi profumi? Il processo artistico insolito che è impossibile da copiare.

Puoi parlarci delle tue fragranze? Qual è stato la più impegnativa da creare e qual è la tua preferita? Probabilmente COVEN e CRAFT, che sono molto diversi. COVEN è questo folle profumo verde che pensavo non piacesse a nessuno, e che sarebbe stato solo un’edizione limitata. Invece si è rivelato il nostro profumo più popolare. L’idea alla base, era di avvicinare le persone alla natura. Le persone nelle grandi città che bramano davvero il verde e la natura. È l’Islandese che è in me.

Penso che CRAFT sia un profumo spigoloso, scandinavo e glaciale. Non che io sia molto gelida, ma penso di essere il tipo che arriva dritto al dunque. Non sono dolce, sono più simile a “facciamo le cose”, che è molto scandinavo. Poi invece, potresti dire che abbiamo tutti l’esterno algido che devi attraversare o sciogliere per arrivare al cuore. Questo deriva dal nostro istinto di sopravvivenza.

Come indossi un profumo? Hai consigli su come indossarli? Io lo spruzzo dappertutto, ma è molto individuale, l’unico consiglio è forse applicare il profumo circa trenta minuti prima di uscire, in modo che le note di testa siano svanite e si abbia il profumo completo.

Puoi dirci qualcosa sul tuo Paese, i tuoi luoghi preferiti attraverso l’olfatto? Con quale fragranza le identifichi? Penso che ora, quando guardo indietro, sia più facile vedere come l’Islanda mi abbia influenzata, perché quando vivi qui, da bambino, pensi che tutti possano correre sui ghiacciai e vedere l’aurora boreale ogni giorno, pensi che questo sia il mondo. E poi, quando diventi un giovane adulto, non vuoi più stare qui, perché fantastichi sulle grandi città del mondo. Oggi l’Islanda si sente più come una vibrazione inconscia dentro di me – non ci penso quando sto creando, ma è ovvio che mi ha influenzata, penso che sia “lì” in ogni profumo, in ogni bottiglia che disegno.

Ho viaggiato molto da bambina, ed ora amo tornare in Islanda, perché riesco davvero ad apprezzarla. C’è così tanto spazio per fare quello che vuoi, ed è probabilmente per questo che non ho mai sentito confini in quello che faccio. Non mi sono mai sentita limitata.

Cosa pensi che manchi alla profumeria oggi? Cosa ti piacerebbe vedere migliorato o cambiato? Forse un pò più di innovazione, quando si tratta di campionamento, ecc.. Penso che quasi tutti i profumi di cui avremo mai bisogno siano stati creati, ma mi piacerebbe vedere il settore muoversi di più nella sfera tecnologica e diventare più moderno.

Indie perfumery as you’ve never known it: Andrea Maack when art meets perfume.

Andrea Maack is an Icelandic artist known worldwide for multisensory installations. Her artistic career and exploration led her to involve the sense of smell in her exhibitions. In this way originate the line of fragrances Andrea Maack characterized by the unique creative process, unusual fragrances rooted in the Icelandic essence and modern design.

Hello Andrea. You are a renowned multisensorial artist. You bring together the visual part of perception but also the olfactory one. Can you tell us when and how your journey starts? Why did you decide to create fragrances? In the beginning, the idea was never to create a brand, it was born slowly and organically through my exhibitions. The idea of working with scent came about through a series of exhibitions and I always envisioned only making one fragrance titled SMART (Smell Art), but after that show, I was hooked on this process and started working on scented installations full time. The brand came about when I was invited to host the opening show of a design gallery in downtown Reykjavík and I decided to do an art installation in the form of a Andrea Maack perfume shop,” handmade 1000 bottles and opened the show for 6 weeks. Wallpaper Magazine did a write-up on the show and after that I was contacted from all over the world from retailers that wanted to stock the brand that only existed through this one exhibition, and the rest is history.

What means perfume for you?  I work in an unusual process and my scents were never really meant to be worn but people love to wear them, it’s impossible to decide what the consumer will like in a scent. I usually work on new creations over a period of a few months and send the “noses” rough sketches and ideas that we develop together to make my vision that’s in my mind and nose come together in a cohesive scent. The science in creating a scent is very tricky, the old notion of someone mixing oils in a bowl is not reality, it’s very much the white lab coat and robots that mix the scents in a super clean and sterile environment. It’s also amazing to be able to be a part of the constant development of creating new fragrance notes. It’s super fascinating and quite secretive

How does perfume fit into the definition of art? It started throgh my art exhibitions, so for me it always holds hand in hand.

The bottles of your perfumes are sleek and beautiful almost futuristic sculptures. What is the inspiration behind them? The Andrea Maack perfume vessels is designed by Milan based Architecht Maddalen Casadei took inspiration from my Nordic roots and my body of artwork. My inspiration came from sculptural shapes in nature, particularly black Obsidian Volcanic rocks found in the Icelandic highlands, focused on clean lines that hold well in the hand, dark in colour and sleek in design. Actually the bottle design was chosen as one of the most innovative fragrance bottle designs in a selection by Wallpaper* Magazine in 2018.

What is your first “olfactive” memory? Some childhood smells have stayed with me, for example, when I created BIRCH, I had in mind a family house we had just outside Reykjavik, which was surrounded by birch trees. This is the only tree that we have here and it has a very specific scent in the summer and in the spring, when it’s sort of raining on it… Also, we have a very strong pool culture here, so I have a lot of memories form back when I was a professional swimmer and I was swimming daily — that clean distinctive smell really stuck with me.

What was the first perfume you did ever wear and what did you like about it? I wasn’t wearing that much perfume, actually, and didn’t think that much about scents. I went through the CK One and the Issey Miyake phases, I like the cleaness and unisex qualities they had.

When do you work on a perfume, what inspires you?  It’s very much an artist’s process like any other subject, it’s never preconceived and I usually let the ideas come to me through drawings, scribbling, writing down ideas constantly and organically starting a process with what I really want to see in a fragrance. It’s very much a collaborative work with the “noses” I work with. The first scents were created though my drawings and exhibitions where I took queues from moods, color, and text like f.exmp Craft, but some of them are more literal. Now that I’m based in Iceland where I grew up it will inevitably have some influence on the fragrance creations like Dual that´s based on the swimming and hot spring culture in Iceland.

What makes your perfumes unique? The unsualy artistic process that´s impossibble to copy.

Can you tell us about your fragrances? Which one was the most challenging to create and which one is your favorite? It’s probably COVEN and CRAFT, they’re very different. COVEN is this crazy green scent that I thought nobody was going to like and would only be a limited edition. But it turned out to be our most popular scent by far. The idea behind it was to get people closer to nature. People in the big cities who really crave for the green and for nature. It’s the Icelandic in me. And I think that CRAFT is the edgy, scandinavian, icy scent. Not that i’m very icy, but I think I’m the “on to the point” kind of a character. I’m not sweet, I’m more like “let’s get things done”, which is very scandinavian. But then, you could say that we all have the icy exterior that you have to get through or melt to get to the heart. That comes from our survivor instinct 

How do you wear perfume? Do you have advice on how to wear them?  I just spray all over like a crazy person, so it´s very individual, the only andvice is maybe to spay 30 min before leaving the house so the top notes have gone and you have the complete scent.

Can you tell us something about your country, your favorite places through the sense of smell? With what fragrance do you identify them?  I think now, when I look back it’s easier to see how Iceland influenced me, because when you’re just living here, as a child, you think that everybody can run around in glaciers and see the northern lights everyday, you think that this is the world. And then, when you become a young adult you don’t want to be here anymore, because you fantasise about the big cities around the world. Today, Iceland feels more like an unconscious vibration inside me — I don’t think about it when I’m creating, but it’s obvious that it influenced me, I think it’s just “there”, in every scent, in every bottle that I design. I did a lot of travelling as kid, and now I really love it to be back in Iceland, because now I can really appreciate it. You have so much space to do whatever you want and that’s probably why I’ve never felt any boundaries in what I do. I’ve never felt restricted.

What do you think is missing from perfumery today? What would you like to see improved or changed?  Perhaps a bit more innovation when it comes to sampling etc, I think pretty much every perfume we will ever need has already been created, but I would like to see the industry itself move into more into the technology sphere and become more modern.
