Don't know anyone here? Pick one and go listen!
Am I missing your favourite? Are they from a comedy? Let me know!
Am I worried Rudyard might skew the results? A bit, yeah, he's well-known. But I don't know enough comedy podcasts to exclude him, so he's getting listed twice instead.

I AM THINKING ABOUT THE ULTIMATUM. SPOILERS BELOW.
Part of it is, in my opinion, genuine tragedy, too. This isn’t miscommunication. There’s no conversation that’s going to get Nureyev to settle his mind. And why? Because he’s BEEN THERE before.
He’s been there, desperately trying to help. Desperate to keep the person he loves safe, he puts himself in danger and in danger, consequences be damned. Peter Nureyev wanted to help, and he truly believes that’s what got Slip killed. It was one of the worst pains of his life. And he sees Juno, about to make the same mistake. It’s not about Nureyev- whether he lives or dies isn’t the point. It hasn’t been for a long time now. What is, though, is that he won’t- he can’t- let Juno go through that, taking his place. Juno has felt enough guilt for ten lifetimes. Peter will not let him take on the guilt of his death.
And he’s been on the other side of the door. He remembers as Miasma’s bunker slid shut, and Juno stayed inside. As the detective made sure Peter would live, as he made the ultimate sacrifice. Even as Nureyev demanded and pleaded that Juno save himself. He was on the outside of that door when the bomb went off, and the silence in his ears was deafening.
The truth is, Peter Nureyev has watched the two best loves of his life die, and he has blamed himself for both of them, and no matter if they come back, he will always blame himself. He wouldn’t wish that on Juno- to be the one living when he is gone, when he could’ve protected him. But he can’t make Juno Steel leave, either, no matter how much it hurts, because he’s seen Juno leave before, and all it left was a ringing in his head, thinking he would do anything to get Juno back.
So when Juno gives him that ultimatum- he is silent. Not because he’s confused, or weighing the odds. Because it is an impossible choice- to let someone go when you can’t, to make them stay when you won’t. He wants Juno to choose, so he doesn’t have to. Because he cannot tell Juno to leave. But he cannot tell Juno to stay.

There are only two instances when I can totally disappear, one when I pray and the other when I write. I'm effaced totally in these two instances. No facades, no masks, not even this self to identify with. Words take birth, one travels upward to the sky and the other travels downward to the sheets. I totally disappear in the process and I wish I never returned from wherever it is that I'm gone...

Stream Star
(Juno Steel ficlet, set during Juno Steel and the Vanishing Act)
For some reason unfathomable, stream night had a staying power to it. It has only been a few weeks since their little crime family had bid their bittersweets, but Buddy and Vespa’s life had changed. It was quieter, for one thing; both in literal noise and in excitement level. Buddy was pretty happy with both those particular developments; she missed them all terribly, but it turned out retirement was suiting her well, for the time being.
Their lives had changed, but not stream night.
Second day of the martian month, every single one of them, Vespa switched on the old battered wide-screen of the lighthouse, and tuned it to a stream. Sometimes they picked one that looked interesting, but a fair amount of the time they just picked randomly.
Tonight, it was Buddy’s turn. She’d picked the Theater of the Heart and Mind, which, from its description, showed lesser known short plays as they were performed across the system.
While it was a sure savior to their egos that the cast of each play would not hear Vespa’s judgements, Buddy personally was looking forward to the carnage. Perhaps more than she should, as an appreciative of the arts.
But love was a powerful thing, and Buddy couldn’t help but admire Vespa’s ability to viciously dissect.
All the same, the cackling was getting a little worrying.
“Vespa, darling, what are you watching?” She cupped a Lunar Sunset in each hand, having just finished making them. As she turned the corner, Buddy caught a glance at the screen. Three figures stood in a single spotlight, all looking vaguely confused at a piece of glass the tallest was holding.
“An-an idiot!” Vespa said between fits of laughter.
“-Theiverize yon shining chimes!”
An auto-captioner helpfully described what ‘The Investigator’ was saying, to the best of its ability.
“My, my.” Buddy said, smiling. “Look at our little stream star. Save this one to the harddrive, will you?”
Vespa grinned. “Already did.” She then began laughing again, and Buddy joined in.
Well, if Juno and Rita ever decided to stop in for stream-night, she knew what they’d be watching.

HI so I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your podcast and I listened to Wooden Overcoats because I heard you recommend it and now i absolutely love Wooden Overcoats!!! (Both finales had me making excited screaming noises and walking around in circles in my room while i liveblogged them to my girlfriend)
Do you have other recommendations in a similar vein?
Oh my goodness, sorry for the delay on this but YAY Wooden Overcoats! It's an absolute all-time fave of ours and needless to say there was much screaming in our household as well. Would die for Antigone Funn tbh.
As far as recs go, have you listened to Victoriocity? It's an alternate-Victorian-London mystery/comedy, and Tom Crowley (Eric Chapman from Wooden Overcoats) plays one of the leads. The theme song is so dramatic and catchy, it's got really snappy dialogue like Wooden Overcoats, the voice acting is across the board excellent, and we would die for Clara Entwhistle.
Some other recs, in case you haven't already checked these out:
Death by Dying: Super dark comedy about an obituary writer in a very odd town--some of our hardest laughs in any audio drama and a show that our writers quote on the DAILY
Wolf 359 and EOS10: Likely you've already listened to one or the other at this point, they're classics for a reason, but just in case you haven't--do it! These were two of our first intros to audio fiction and have been SUPER formative in teaching us how to write comedy and drama for the medium. Really great comedies that also do a fantastic job of sneakily getting you to care about the characters SO much.
Midnight Burger: Look, this show frickin rocks. Tight writing, incredibly clear character writing, just arrives from minute one with such a strong sense of tone and identity. If you like our show's vague Doctor Who vibes, there is literally no way you won't love the crew of Midnight Burger.
Mockery Manor: More of a mystery than outright comedy vibe, but the MUSIC! The SOUND DESIGN! The SETTING! It's a murder-mystery 80s show set at a theme park in the UK, with jingles left and right. We did in fact buy the soundtrack the day it became available, it's bangers beginning to end.
Brimstone Valley Mall: Speaking of music! A 90s comedy about a group of demons who work in a shopping mall and have a band. This ensemble is a frickin delight and we love a Hot Topic joke.
Two Flat Earthers Kidnap a Freemason: Full disclosure, our producer/Narrator, Lauren, is a voice actor on this, but we think if you like the satire of our show and our particular brand of morally grey protagonists, this one will be right up your alley. We'd tell you the plot but...it's kinda right there in the title, innit?
BONUS: If you have Audible or want to do some creative searching, we also highly recommend the BBC radio shows Bleak Expectations and Cabin Pressure--both incredibly funny and well-made audio sitcoms! These two shows were our gateway into audio fiction and remain the gold standard in our mind for comedy scripts that boast a frankly ridiculous joke-per-minute ratio.
We will likely add on shows from here as we think of them, but hopefully this gets you started with something that sounds fun!
