The Village (2004) is one of my favourite films ever. Like the horror is fun, the first time I watched it as a kid it terrified me and I could barely sleep for days, my younger sister refused to even look at the colour red for months. It has an all star cast, like it's shockingly great. The twists are fun too. But it's the love/romance side that takes me out every time.
Like when Ivy is standing at the door holding her hand out and Lucius grabs it just in time and continues to hold it while they're in the basement after refusing to touch her for years for fear of his affection for her becoming known? Cinematic gold.
Ivy trying to find her way through the wedding crowd with her hand in front of her and Lucius again grabs it and stays by her side? Beautiful.
Lucius sitting on Ivy's porch to keep watch because he values her safety above all else and his speech to her? Disgustingly sweet.
And finally Ivy going through the woods she's been raised to avoid and be terrified of to go to a place she's been raised to fear and hate all to get medicine so Lucius has a better chance of survival? True love babey.
Like it wrecks my literal soul every time I watch it, like I cannot put into words how much I love that film, and how much I love the relationship between Lucius and Ivy. It's just perfection.

I run that account with the daily movie quotes and youre the first to actually intersect with the village one and I saw that your account has reblogged a lot of stuff from the Village, and I just want to say I’m glad someone else appreciates M. Night Shyamalan’s underrated masterpiece.
Aaaahhh yes. I actually watched it cause it was in a slide show for my film producing and directing class. I can't believe not many people know of it.
Made me cry so bad oof.
