unparalleled media experience especially because there is no equivalent to jacting joices in any other media. i'm serious. it's some combination of winchester derangement syndrome + an ever-changing list of writers and directors + 15 seasons' worth of material and it means that at many points jensen knew dean winchester better than anyone else in the room. and i know, i know some of the joices were likely suggested by directors or producers or the scripts or other cast members. but every time we get a new script there's something on the screen that's different, something better, some missing piece of the 4d puzzle that is dean winchester.

#i'm watching peaky blinders and cillian murphy is a very good actor! #but i have never once gone 'wow he did this when the obvious choice was to do this' #or 'look at this tiny insignificant bit of body language which clearly says this' #it's partly because i'm normal about this show #but partly because the show does not ask you to assemble its characters #his character is supposed to be entirely legible #there are parts that are intentionally hidden but you can guess by the shapes of the shadows #but dean winchester is all constantly shifting shadows interrupted by periodic bursts of light #and jensen knows exactly when and where to shine that light #i said before thst dean is supposed to be legible and cas is the constantly shifting one #and i still believe that #the way tptb created dean was to be legible #but on-screen there's nuance and depth and life #you can see an entirely new world out of the corner of your eye #okay i obviously need to go to fucking bed. good night #spn
