Witcher Whump Week 2024

A fandom week focusing on whumping The Witcher characters, open to all kinds of fan created content. It will run on Tumblr, Pillowfort and Dreamwidth from 19th to 26th February 2024.

Each day has different prompts, and you are invited to create content based on those prompts: fics, art, moodboards, playlists - whatever strikes your fancy.

You can whump any The Witcher character from any canon. OCs are welcome.

Rules

You will be submitting your rarepair fic(s), and commit to leaving a comment on someone else's fic(s). The event will match people based on fic tags and your preferences/DNWs.

Comments: Comments need to be at least 100 words long. Anything you quote from the fic doesn't count towards that. If you want only to comment and not submit a fic, you are welcome to sign up!

Fics: Submit at least one oneshot/chapter with a wordcount of no more than 10k, and no less than 500 words. You can submit up to three fics so there's a better chance to match readers and fics.

If you have participated before and submit more than one fic, please submit no more than ONE fic/chapter you have submitted before! If you submit one fic/chapter, it should be a new one.

The rarepair must be the focus of your fic. We count everything as a rarepair with less than 1000 fics on AO3 at the time when you submit your story.

The pairing can be romantic or platonic/friendship.

This event welcomes darkfic, WIPs (the submitted chapter must be published on AO3), crossovers and OCs. As long as the fic is tagged correctly, you can submit whatever you want. The flip side of submit whatever you want is that we will not tolerate bashing of submitted fics.

If you end up paired with a fic that is in hindsight not your cup of tea for whatever reason, please contact the mods before commenting to be paired with another fic (there's no need to tell us why). Don’t feel obliged to read material you'd rather not, and do not send the author negativity.

Preview: Approach and Retreat

Geralt VarEmeris is a little bit of a legend in the reining world and is now a well-known horse trainer and show coach. In the middle of a nasty divorce with Emhyr and estranged from his stepdaughter, all he has is his barn and Roach. He’s been isolating himself from everyone to appease Emhyr for years and is slowly starting to let others exist in his world, but he’s not good at it and with his world turned upside down, forming any kind of relationship is hard. The newest client has a lot to prove and is pushing him in more than just a professional capacity, but damnit if he isn’t just a little bit devoted to Jaskier and his horse. He may not like it, and he may fight it at times, but Jaskier is softening him into the person he was when he was just Ciri’s trainer a decade ago, before Emhyr got his claws in him. And he may be just a little too head over heels for Jaskier for his own comfort.

The wolf witchers definitely tackle each other whenever they meet up.

Geralt and Jaskier come across signs of someone else's camp, and Geralt tears off to go knock Eskel to the ground and rub dirt in his hair.

The next year, Geralt dismounts Roach out of nowhere, tells Jaskier to take Roach, and walk at least 6 steps to the left. Just in time for Lambert to come running up on his horse, jump off mid-gallop, and belly flop right on top of Geralt

the scene i find most relatable in all of the witcher saga is ciri in the korath desert, and idk what that says about me, but… probably nothing good 😅🙃

Witcher Whump Week 2024 is over!

Take a look at the AO3 collection, we have 22 works (and not all were promo'ed here on Tumblr) - there's rarepairs, all the canons and everything from whump to hurt/comfort!

A big thank you to everyone who participated, and everyone who reblogged, said nice things in the tags, commented on the fics! I had a great time - this was the third Witcher Whump Week and I am always so happy to see people engage and create.

Doing an event is stressful sometimes (...what if nobody participates? omg why did I put the deadline THERE? Why didn't I come up with prompts when I had plenty of time??), so thank you all so much for making it worth it, I'm excited already for the next time.

2025 will be Witcher Wheel of the Year again, and 2026 will have the next whump week.

Witcher Wheel of the Year will run again in 2025 with another round of prompts for all the festivals throughout the year.

Wip ask Game!

“I can’t believe you told them it is our honeymoon!” Jaskier hisses.

“I said I’m sorry. They were going to kick us out.” Geralt says tiredly, not for the first time that night.

Jaskier mutters some more under his breath, poking around in his stew. Outside the rain is pouring down, and Geralt has pretty much no regrets about his little lie, other than Jaskier’s obvious discomfort. He is doing that nervous thing he does with his hands, where he touches his fingertips to his thumb over and over again. It seems to be a soothing thing, so Geralt never stopped him, but he doesn’t like to be the cause of it.

It wasn’t his intention to lie. It was just… It was so very nice to shut up the usual comments about Jaskier being his whore, and unfeeling witchers, and all that stupid shit.

It also… possibly.. tickled a secret corner of his mind, where he might have imagined this before.

But none of that matters as he watches Jaskier, trying to smile through his frown, his cheeks red and his hands ever fidgeting.

Their eyes meet for a moment, and Jaskier sighs.

“Stop looking at me like that. That kicked puppy look. It’s just. You realize that for that act to work, we are going to have to be… close?”

Geralt looks away. He didn’t think about that. Of course the bard wouldn’t want that with him.

“Hmm. You don’t have to… We could pretend to fight? I could sleep in the stables.” Geralt offers, looking down at his stew.

“What? Wait, no. Geralt, I meant, you hate having people touching you.” Jaskier tries to catch his eye, and Geralt tries not to look like he is sulking.

He doesn’t mind per say when people touch him, it’s just that they usually touch him with a goal in mind.

Everyone but Jaskier.

“It’s alright.” He mutters, and Jaskier looks properly unimpressed.

“Really. So if I cozy up to you right now, you won’t get all stiff on me in the morning?”

Alright, so maybe Geralt is not very good at people touching him. Doesn’t mean that he minds it. Much.

“I’ll behave. My fault we are in this anyway.”

He tries to say it softly, well aware of the people in the bar watching them still. He lifts his left arm in invitation, and it only takes a second of hesitation for Jaskier to scoot closer, to press their sides together.

Now that Jaskier is this close, Geralt isn’t sure where to place his hand. This might have been a mistake.

Moonflowers and Medallions

After a year of no contact, Geralt and Jaskier are suddenly back in each others’ lives. Following the events of season one, Geralt and Jaskier find themselves at Kaer Morhen for the winter with Ciri and the other wolf witchers (Vesemir, Eskel, and Lambert). While Geralt may not have realized how harsh his words were on the dragon hunt, Jaskier is still unsure if he can trust Geralt again. With newer and darker memories at the forefront of his mind, can Jaskier open up to the witcher once more?
