@nocciolinafelice and @writerofblocks​ it’s been about four years since I was last on Tumblr and got to talk to you guys due to all of the stuff that was going on in my life that made getting online and keeping in touch with people really difficult for me, but you know who I still think of all the time because they still make me happy? Dahlia and Lulu and Bridget. And Sunny and Christopher. and Mason and Alphonse. And all our other ships and story lines we had together. Every time I thought about them I would smile really big and it would fill my heart with big warm fuzzies.

I missed you guys. I’m sorry I wasn’t around for so long and didn’t exactly give you any warning. I may not be the best when it comes to keeping up with everyone i care about and staying in touch with them, but the thought of you two always brings a smile to my face. You guys are and have always been amazing. Thank you for everything, for all the fun we had and for being such amazing friends that have given me so many amazing memories to cherish.

I hope now that I’m doing better we can find time to make more.

Writer Speaks:

I did my best to create Atri on Sims the other day. I think he liked the attention and found it amusing. Ignore the clothes.

Also, ever since Yule, or Alban Arthan, and I finally really started my Bardic Grade course work with OBOD, The Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids, my connection with Atri has suddenly seemed to open back up, again, where for the longest time, I have felt blocked with him. You may see more on this blog, soon. He seems willing to answer some of the long due messages in the inbox, so I appreciate everyone’s patience with that. I know it’s been a really long while since I’ve been on here. It is late here, now, but I may be on here tomorrow to do some channeling.

i'm going to be honest and raw for a second here.

it feels very odd to be out of the loop with the current fandoms that people are obsessing over.

i've never had an interest in stranger things even when it first came out and my husband asked if we were gonna watch it together and i said no.

and yet now it feels like that's all that fills my dash.

it's weird to see the hyperfixations move so quickly and I'm over here with my little hoarde of bb characters and farmer!shane and that's it.

do any other writers experience this sort of weird like "if I'm not up to date on the most recent obsessions, i have no relevance anymore" feeling or is that just a me thing?

Sometimes...

I feel like I’m the only writer that wants to rebel against “show don’t tell”. I mean of course, make your reader see what’s going on from time to time but so many posts just emphasize that “show don’t tell” is just the way to go that I just feel like saying “NOPE.” and doing my own thing. 

Writers...do what feels good to you. Writing rules are not concrete. If what you’re reading feels like you have a weight on your shoulders then find a different writing tip. What matters is what makes you feel comfortable when you’re putting pen to paper or words on a screen.

Life will not stop being a LOT, but I've got some time tonight to sit down and write. So I've got my big priorities... Work on the next chapter of Perseverance, work on the next chapter of Contained, or work on the next little oneshot surrounding Legacy?

I mean yes, I do have other WIPs I would like to get back to, but I'm trying to focus a little bit. So things like Blade in Hand and my other WIPs that have continued to nibble at my brain for years will have to wait a little while longer, because these are the three I have picked to prioritize.

The State of the Blog

I have said repeatedly that I care about freedom of access which is why I've been posting my fiction to my Wordpress site for free. And I did it too because I can afford to work 'for free' while building an audience. I know that companies are not friends, but the underhandedness of this deal has soured my feelings on using the site.

This isn't an announcement of abandoning the blog. I'm going to upload the already public chapters of Keep My Eye on the Chamber Door (with more editing) to Patreon. This more edited version is being paywalled for the moment while I take stock.

Seeing as this is not new content, however, I want to ask about upload schedules.

I watched a monster-hunting cryptid show that made me want to do a sequel or something for this. A proper science-based monster hunt that obviously goes super smoothly and results in a happy, successful conclusion and answers all the questions. 👍

I know I said I would get to scrolling for hours before hyper focusing on something but I JUST REMEMBERED I HAVEN’T WATCHED THE FINAL EPISODE OF THE OWL HOUSE YET, so that’s gonna be what I’m doing. I’m gonna cry, I know it. I hate that this is going to be the last episode we get. I’ll return in approx an hour as a (spoiler free) sobbing mess most likely.

I wanted to add something to the whole ‘thank you’ thing, ... as he mentioned, the words are something you give to someone as payment for their deed, and that reminded me of just how important energy and words and actions are to the Fae.

We, as humans, see gifts as more concrete objects that we hand over to someone and give them, but to the Fae, energy itself is very much seen as a gift. If you are giving your time, and energy to someone, that is a gift from you to them. Words can be gifts or payments, even emotions can be.

The reason why I’m bringing this up, is because a few weeks ago, I was adamantly trying to help someone online about an issue they were having. I kept giving them my heartfelt advice and support, and they continuously just trashed every single suggestion I had, and kept complaining that no one was actually helping them.

Atri got really really pissed. I mean he was in my ear this entire long walk I was on that night with my dog, enraged, going on and on about how my time and energy were gifts and that this girl was rude because she didn’t accept my gifts or respect them.

And I was like, ‘okay,’ I just won’t give any more of my energy to her. But he was still really pissed. I mean he was really pissed.

The next day, the girl had suddenly out of no where completely changed her tone and thanked me for their help and attention and said how much she appreciated it.

I sort of did a slow theoretical turn to Atri and I was like .... you .. didn’t do anything did you?

And wouldn’t say, he just sort of gave this shrug with and little closed-mouth grin impression.

And this got way off my original topic, but now you have a sort of creepy Atri story. Guys, like he said in that one ask tonight, even friendly Fae can be dangerous. Please remember to respect that when interacting with them. They are very real.
