Tumblr, my little dude is drawing a map and just commented that he could add a map key with letter labels "so it can be colorblind accessible".
He is not colorblind. No one in our house is colorblind. I don't think anyone in our friend group is colorblind. But we talk about accessibility in our house and he's absorbed it.
This is how we do it. This is how we slowly fix the world.

why are the youth so disrespectful about top surgery?
if anyone ever tells me "welcome to the no-titty committee," or "congratulations on your teetus deleetus," or any of the other things I have seen people tell each other, I will fight them on sight.

A young person in one of my trrpg games started using the term "rizz" which from context clues I determined meant "having game".
He is Australian tho so I wasn't immediately sure if it was local slang, the latest in appropriated AAVE or in reference to Fantasy High Character Riz. Given we were playing a ttrpg.

[ID: This is reminiscent of Nazism’s radicalization of the German youth in the 1920’s-1940’s. It’s just child soldiers on top of child soldiers in this show. I mean, who approved this?! /End ID]

Just thinking about when I was still a youth worker and had to push for months to get $100 to buy comics for the teen room, because the director was convinced that the teens wouldn't be interested in anything besides playing basketball, volleyball, or video games, and then when I did get them, they ended up being really popular, to the point where three of the shyest girls you've ever met spontaneously staged a dramatic reading of Young Avengers #2 and only like two of the guys made fun but were mostly hushed by the other guys and holy shit it was the most cringe thing I've ever seen but it was also fucking amazing. Anyway, let kids explore the world without adults deciding what they might/should be interested in.

Some proof that there ARE elected officials out there, like Vice Mayor Sean Cummings in Oklahoma, who are standing up for LGBTQ+ youth like Nex Benedict and calling out the fact that our words and rhetoric DO matter.
[Context: In this video, Sean Cummings is seen speaking to Oklahoma Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters referring to the death of student Nex Benedict].

why is religious Christmas imagery all so joyful and pleasant? where is the inherent horror of the birth of Christ? A mother is handed her newborn child, wailing and innocent. Her hands come away sticky. Red. Simply by giving her son life she has already killed him. He is doomed from the beginning. Her love will not save him from suffering. Because the thing cradled in her arms is not a baby, it is a sacrifice: born amongst the other bleating animals whose blood will one day be spilled in the name of what demands it. the night is silent with anticipation. Mary, did you know? That your womb was also a grave?
