Anyway, in the 70s, you could go to the mall and get a full-leather bag for about $8 ($45 in today's dollars) that was likely hand-stamped and hand-painted. And maybe even made in America.

My Doctor Who fan orgin story

So I'm from America ,and for a long time Doctor Who has been very niche in America,probabbly best known for being shown on PBS in the70's and 80's.My dad was actually an old shool fan,waking up in the wee hours of the night to watch Tom Bakers adventures with his older brother on a black and white TV .But while my dad talked about many a favorite geeky thing with me ,Doctor Who he didnt talk about a lot until I became a fan on my own

AS I was growing up I would see refrences to Doctor Who in various things,the biggest ones being these weird robot things appearing in the film Looney Tunes Back and Action and my dad pointing out a Doctor Who refrence in Family Guys Star Wars parody Blue Harvest (They enter hyperspace and there is footage of a sopace tube and all the sudden a picture of a weird guy in a scarf shows up )

I found the internet and stumbled upon a website talking about film and TV Robots .....And those weird robot things from Looney Tunes Back and Action where talked about .I learned they were called Daleks,they werent robots but mutants in a robot suit basically and they were the Doctors main villains .Then I found Mego Museum which showed old toys of the Doctor,who was that guy with the scarf ,and he had a friend named Leela,and a robot dog and there were not only the Daleks but these guys called the Cybermen .Then I saw a ad in Wizard Magazine and realized "Oh they have rebooted the show" and now theres this cute skinny guy in a trenchcoat ,and the Cybermen are more scary looking .And I saw my dad watching the new show (DAleks Take Manhatten ) on the Sci Fi channel and I kind of pieced it together

Doctor Whowas a 70's show ,The doctor was a guy in a scarf who traveled in a blue box ,with a robot dog and fought Cybermen and Daleks,and they canceled it and brought it back but with a skinny guy .....Then many years later I found out I was wrong

I had a friend in highschool who revealed to me there were ....11 Doctors (at that time ) ,not two ,the show started in the 60's and it was one continuity .I also learned about the Master , there were lost episodes, the show was canceled for a while ,it had a TV movie ,as well as two stand alone films with Peter Cushing (Who I knew about aleready) ,then it was brought back

Then my brother and his at the time significant other wanted me to get into the new show,but I was so facinated by the lengthy history ,heres what I did

I watched the first stand alone film with Peter Cushing ,then both The Unearthly Child and Daleks from the First Doctors run then Rose from the Ninth Doctors run ,and I was hooked
