A Kiss for Everyone
Tumblr media
Request: Can I have 18 and 5..? With Svt Minghao? And the members invites themselves to the date..? And it’s cute and funny? If you do it! Thank you sm I love you😭🫶
Prompts:
5) "I don't think I've ever seen anyone screw something up that fast before."
18) Going for a day out with your bias when somehow all of the other group members invite themselves.
Pairing: Seventeen The8 x reader
Genre: Fluff
.
Tucking the rolled yoga mat under your arm, you readjusted your stance, and stared out the window of the studio. Butterflies nosedived in your abdomen, making it nearly impossible to stand still. You took a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth, trying to remember the small tricks Hao had given you to calm yourself down. It was awfully ironic that you were using them now, when he was the reason that you needed to find peace.
It wasn't that you were panicked at the thought of your first date, just anxious about all of the ways it could go wrong. Hao was thoroughly invested in both meditation and fitness, so suggesting a yoga class seemed like the perfect way to marry two of his interests. You weren't sure if he had ever been before, but you assumed it would be something he was good at.
You on the other hand? Maybe not so much.
"I knew I should have paid extra for the baby goats," you muttered, running a hand through your hair. At least if you had done goat yoga, you could play off any mistakes as excitement for being around so many small and furry things.
You checked the time on your phone again before worrying your lip. Only a few minutes until class started and you still hadn't seen Minghao coming from either end of the street. Just as you were about to shoot him a text, you saw his thin frame bobbing down the sidewalk.
Putting on your best smile, you moved toward the door and opened it as he strolled in. Grinning at you in return, he pulled you into a quick hug before letting go. "Sorry I was late, the guys-"
"It's okay," you nodded, immediately wanting to absolve him of any worry. He looked great today (but then again, when did he not?) Dressed in a simple tank top and sweatpants, it was difficult to even maintain focus. He was just that beautiful.
"Jeonghan slept in," he chuckled. "And it started this whole chain reaction of things going wrong. Everyone should be right behind me though."
"Everyone?" you croaked, furrowing your brows. Surely, he didn't mean...
The small bell above the entryway chimed as familiar voices began to flood the small space. You blinked up at Minghao, trying to tamper down the shock flooding your system. "I-I didn't reserve their spots."
"What?" Hao asked, now his turn to grow confused as his friends began to filter in. Their small talk was equivalent to a roar as you felt your body growing hot with embarrassment.
Coming to a stop beside you, Mingyu draped a long arm around your neck. "Heeey."
DK shuffled over as well, trying to assess the looks on both you and Hao's faces. "Y/N?"
"I...I thought today was going to be just us," you admitted, feeling foolish. You couldn't even chance a glance toward the two other men who had inserted themselves in your conversation. It was mortifying.
Minghao's eyes grew wide as he looked from you and then back to all the members.
DK let out a nervous laugh as he patted Hao across the back. "I don't think I've ever seen anyone screw something up that fast before."
"We can leave," Mingyu blurted, unwinding himself from your body.
"No, no," you said quickly, shaking your head. Plastering on what positivity you could, you began to nod instead. "Let me double check and make sure there's enough spots for everyone."
Wandering over to the counter you had checked in at, you could feel your face grow flush before you even started speaking. "Sorry, um...the class that's about to start? You wouldn't happen to have twelve additional spots, would you?"
The girl behind the counter blanched before taking a moment to respond. "I could look?"
"Thank you," you said quietly, glancing over your shoulder. You couldn't help but feel awkward as you watched several of the members surround Minghao, shoving him in the shoulders as the pointed vehemently toward you. Just great, now they all knew you had expected this to be a date.
"Actually," the studio receptionist hummed, getting your attention again. "It looks like we have another class starting in a few minutes that has room for you all. Do you want me to switch you over to that one?"
"Sure, that would be great," you sighed in relief. Placing your elbows on the counter, you dropped your face into your hands and tried to focus on your breathing again.
"Okay," the girl continued. "That's going to be ₩621,981.50."
Lifting your face, you tried not to cringe. While that wasn't the largest amount of money you had ever spent, it was still more than you had expected to pay today.
"I got it," Hao said quietly as his body joined yours at the counter. Looking up, you found him avoiding eye contact and gnawing at the skin on the side of his thumb.
"No, really," you tried, trying to salvage any chance at normality. "I invited you guys out here, let me pay."
"No, Y/N," he asserted. "You invited me. Then I was the one who went and fumbled the situation. Badly."
Sliding his card across the counter, he moved to face you. Leaning against the edge of the tabletop, he looked at you directly. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," you grimaced. It was hard to meet his eyes. "I should have told you I expected it...that I wanted it to be..."
"A date?" he finished, lifting a brow.
"A date," you repeated numbly. How horrifying was it that you had to admit it out loud?
After a moment of silence, Hao cleared his throat. "It can still be a date."
"You don't have to humor me," you groaned, still avoiding eye contact.
"Y/N," he murmured. "Please look at me."
Moodily acquiescing, your eyes found his.
"If I had realized this was meant to be something special for just the two of us," he said slowly. "You know I would have been more than okay with that, right?"
"I just thought..."
"Looking back, you did everything right," he said, nodding encouragingly. "I was the one who obviously thought there was no universe in which you would actually want to go on a date with me."
"What?"
"I'm weird, Y/N," he chuckled. "Good looking, but weird."
"Hao," you choked out on a laugh. "At least you're self-aware?"
Breaking into a wide smile, he reached up to rub his hand along your arm. "I'll make this up to you. I promise."
Inhaling deeply, you gave a short nod. It was hard to maintain your cool when he finally set the record straight. He did want to go on a date, he just didn't realize that you had wanted that as well.
Bringing you into his side for a quick hug, his hands lingered on your lower back when you pulled away again. Cutting your eyes toward him, you tried not to spontaneously combust as he licked his lips.
"Sir?" the girl behind the counter asked, waving Hao's card in the air. "You can move to Studio 3 now."
.
"Oh my god, it's fucking goats," Vernon called over his shoulder, stumbling into the room first.
Minghao looked toward you, an alarmed expression clear on his face.
"They're babies!" Dino gasped, surging forward to cuddle one of the small goats roaming the room.
"What happens if they poop?" Seungkwan muttered, side eying the members closest to him. "Specifically, on us?"
"A little goat poop never hurt anyone," Seungcheol chuckled, somehow already holding a goat and allowing it to lick his chin.
"Did you originally book us for this?" Minghao whispered, his breath hot on your ear.
Trying to ignore the shiver caused by his proximity, you shrugged. "Nope, I didn't spring for goat yoga...but apparently you did."
"Perfect," he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. "I did not foresee any of the events today coming to fruition."
Sliding his fingers between yours, he gave them a small squeeze. Motioning to the room with his free hand, he grimaced. "Thank you for dealing with...all of this."
You looked out at the boys who had joined you today, settling themselves on their chosen yoga mats. Their wide smiles and laughter were enough to turn your mood from disappointment to something significantly warmer. Seeing them this happy made your heart feel like it could burst.
"While both the goats and the guys were a surprise," you nodded. "It's definitely become a welcome one."
"Oh?" Hao smirked. "Sooo I don't have to make it up to you after all?"
"Now I never said that," you giggled.
"Fine," he said, giving a dramatic eye roll. "I guess I was looking forward to making it up to you anyway."
..
"This is the best date I've ever been on," DK cried. Laying on his back and covered by baby goats, you thought he would simply explode from happiness.
"More like the best day of my life!" Jun chimed from beside him, a goat chewing lazily on the ends of his hair.
"At least you made them happy," Minghao chuckled, pushing his shoulder into yours. After what was an extremely interesting session, you had both ended up on the same yoga mat, leaning against each other as you watched the interactions around you.
Petting absent-mindedly at the small goat that had settled into your lap, you smiled at him. "And I didn't make you happy?"
"Of course, you did," he smiled. "You're really good at it too." Bending toward you, he pressed a light kiss to your temple.
"Don't kiss our date!" Jeonghan gasped, pointing an accusing finger at Minghao. "If you kiss Y/N, we all kiss Y/N!"
Nodding vehemently, Hoshi sprang to his feet as he began to circle the pair of you. This startled the goat you had been holding, causing him to spring away from you and jump roughly onto Dino's stomach.
"I promise you," Minghao said, wrapping his arms protectively around you. "If your lips even get near Y/N, you will fear my wrath."
"Wrath?" Wonwoo chuckled. "Someone needs more goat yoga."
"No more goat yoga," Woozi said definitively from his spot in the corner. "Next time, can't we just...get a meal? Do as the mentally sound people do?"
"That's asking a lot," Joshua grinned, aggressively petting a goat that had taken up residence on Mingyu's chest.
"No next times," Minghao sighed into the top of your head, still not letting you go. "I have a date to take you on first."
"What do you mean?" you teased, looking up at him through your lashes. "This is a date. And honestly, it's going to be hard to top."

Infinite ~ *Xu Minghao*
Tumblr media
Summary: All Minghao had to do was get in, get the info, get out. Easy, child’s play really. But there was something he didn’t account for. Apparently there’s another hacker in town that had the same idea.
Pairing: Xu Minghao X Fem!Reader
Genre: Angstyish Oneshot
Word Count: 1763
Warning: Swearing
Mafia Masterlist
“It’s a simple job, Hao. In and out. No fucking around or I will put you on training for the next three years.” Seungcheol’s angry voice echoed through his in-ear, causing him to roll his eyes. What, did he think he was stupid?
“Yeah, yeah, I get the message. I know what I’m doing. This isn’t my first job.” He snapped back.
“Tell that to Jihoon. He says you’ve been getting sloppy.” He shot back.
Again, Minghao scoffed, his eyes trained on the guard that would be getting off soon. “Yeah, sure. Jihoon’s full of crap. As long as the big boss hasn’t gotten on my case, then I believe I’m all good.”
“Is that so?”
Minghao smirked before teasing, “Yeah, so tell me, Cheollie, what has your girlfriend been saying about me behind my back? Or what has she been saying about me when you two are-”
“WOULD YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP!” He screeched, causing him to wince. Nevertheless, a wicked grin spread across his face as he imagined the bright blush on Seungcheol’s cheeks right now. “Just do your damn job and don’t come back until it’s done.”
“Roger that, boss’s bitch.” He teased before turning his in-ear off so he didn’t have to hear him yell at him.
Turning his attention back to the guard before him, his sly grin grew as the guard made his way to clock out. Now was his chance. Taking a deep breath, he slipped into the vent beside him and made the slow crawl to the tech room. There he would be able to complete his job with time to spare for a good dinner at Jeonghan’s casino.
Carefully removing the grate of the vent inside the tech room, he gently and quietly sled out and dropped silently to the floor. Upon closer inspection, everything inside the room seemed pretty standard, making him chuckle. This was supposedly the best security system in town and yet everything was standard and rudimentary. He could hack this place with a toothpick and a potato.
“Piece of cake. This’ll teach Jihoon and Seungcehol to throw around stupid accusations.” He muttered to himself as he quickly got to work.
First things first, he disabled the security cameras and replaced the footage with stock footage he managed to snag a week ago. After a simple redirect and adding a simple display, he got the security footage up and running. Now for the fun part of his job.
Making his way to the main computer, he smirked as he started pulling up files, account records, and business transactions. “Alright, let’s see what dirty little secrets you’re keeping from your loyal customers.”
“Who the hell are you?” A voice hissed from the shadows.
His head shot up and frantically searched the darkened room for whoever was in the room with him. One hand was poised over the keyboard, the other flicking open the switchblade he kept in his pocket. “Who the hell are you?”
“I asked you first.”
“Doesn’t matter. I asked you a question so you better start talking before I rip you a new one.” He spat.
The person laughed and he could tell it was a feminine. “Okay, jeez, no need to get that defensive. I’m just a person who’s here doing the same thing you were sent here to do.”
“And that is?”
“Oh, don’t tell me you forgot. What, suffer traumatic brain damage crawling out of that vent?” She teased making him sneer. “Fine, fine, I’ll tell you. I’m here to extract some information and share it with the world. You know, the illegal stuff. Someone has to blow that whistle, and I’m guessing you thought it would be you, hero?”
“I didn’t think it would be me, I knew it would be.” He snapped. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to do my job and I don’t need some scrappy wannabe hacker getting in my way.”
The voice started to sputter and right as he heard a gun cock, a woman appeared out of the shadows. He didn’t move, didn’t even flinch. All he did was cock an eyebrow at her anger and the gun pointed directly between his eyes.
“I am NOT some wannabe hacker. I’m a professional just like you dammit! So don’t go around accusing me of being some wannabe.” She snapped.
He rolled his eyes before turning back to the computers before him. “Whatever you say kid. Stay out of the way if you’re only here to cause trouble.”
Minghao noticed out of the corner of his eye that her arm that was holding the gun faltered a little before she huffed and went to a different computer in the room. “How about this? A friendly wager. We’ll see who’s really the professional and who’s the wannabe.”
Now, he knew he shouldn’t indulge in this child’s delusions. But his credibility as an accomplished hacker. He couldn’t back down from a challenge, not from anyone. So without any sound judgement he looked up at her and asked, “What kind of a wager?”
Obviously she wasn’t expecting that as she struggled to come up with what to say. Eventually she managed to sputter out, “How about this: if I get the information first, I get to keep it and join your little mafia.”
“And if I win?”
“I’ll leave town and you’ll never see me again. I won’t be taking your precious position of best hacker in town. How’s that?” She asked, her air of confidence returning.
Honestly, it was a rather fair deal, considering both sides. A smile tugged at his lips. “Sounds like a deal.”
“Perfect. May the best, most professional hacker win.” She grinned before tapping away furiously on the computer before her.
Now, Minghao already knew this wager was rigged from the start. He had a head start and was already almost done hacking through their mainframes and she had just started. There was no way she was going to win this. A smirk wormed its way onto his face as he began transferring files about the shady business deals onto his flash drive.
“How are you doing over there?” He asked her, not keeping the teasing lilt out of his voice.
She surprised him slightly by giving him a smirk and answering in a very  “Really good, how about you?”
“Fine.” He muttered, typing a little bit quicker.
Just as Minghao was finishing up transferring the files and money back to the people under the company, the sound of keys jangling into the lock of the door to the room. Both her and the girl perked up before quickly packing up and erasing their tracks. Despite his better judgement, he helped her take down her set up as well before quickly helping her back into the vent. He had just shimmied his way up with her help when the janitor opened the door, his flashlight scouring the room like a searchlight. The two of them held their breaths as they watched him survey the room before leaving, locking the door behind him.
After collectively releasing their breaths, he looked at her and realized how close they were in such a cramped space. He was glad that it was dark so she couldn’t see the dusting of pink on his cheeks. Clearing his throat softly, he nodded his head in the direction of the rest of the vent and allowed her to go first.
Before too long, they were outside of the building, a good distance away, walking back out of the town. Minghao spoke first, “So, about that wager…?”
She laughed. “Ah, of course you wouldn’t forget. Let’s say you won, okay? I don’t mind. It’s not that massive of a blow to my street cred.”
He couldn’t help but chuckle. “Gotcha. Look, you don’t have to leave town if you don’t want to. I know how hard it is to pack up and move on short notice and to a place you’ve never been before.”
Nodding, she mumbled, “I’m sure you do.” She then quickly added, “Nah, it’s fine. I have no emotional attachments to this town anyways. Besides, it’s much too small for me. I mean, give me a few days to pack, and then I’ll be out of your hair.”
“You really don’t have to-”
“Hey, it’s fine, don’t worry about it.” She playfully punched his shoulder. “I’m tough. I can make it out there. I just hope you can take care of yourself.”
Another chuckle slipped past his lips. “I’m sure I can manage.”
“Good. I’ll see you around, Hao.” And with that, she ran off.
It wasn’t until she was a good distance away, that Minghao realized she called him Hao. However, instead of getting angry, he just chuckled to himself before turning his in-ear back on and slipping his hand in his pocket to find his flash drive for the boss.
“Hao? Are you back?” Seungcheol’s voice sounded over the intercom.
“SON OF A BITCH!”
“Jeez! Would you shut up? You’re not of the clear yet! As soon as someone finds out what you did, I swear-”
“She took it.”
“What?”
Minghao gritted his teeth, not wanting to admit his failures to the Boss’s Bitch. “Cheol, there was another hacker there when I got inside and started doing my job. I tried to scare her off but she held fast. I took all of the files before she could and deleted them before wiring the money. However, towards the end of the night, we were almost caught but we got out of there. However she must have taken the flash drive with all the information during that scuffle in the vents.”
There was a long pause. “So you lost the files?”
“Yes.”
“Dammit Hao.” Seungcheol sighed. “You’re telling the boss.”
“Why can’t you!” He whined. “You’re the Boss’s Bitch.”
Seungcheol scowled. “Don’t call me that. And you’re the one who lost the files, so you’re getting the heat for this little “mistake”.”
“Okay, okay, fine, whatever. Just send the car already.” He snapped, shoving both hands in his pockets.
“On it’s way.”
As soon as Seungcheol was done talking he took his ear piece out and had half a mind to crush it. However, his other hand, that was still in his pocket, touched a piece of paper he knew was not there before. He quickly pulled it out and read it, both trying not to laugh and scream at the same time:
Meet me at the Chewy Cafe if you want your flash drive back. Love Infinity. PS, BIG fan.

❃S/O being drunk/tipsy around Seventeen❃
A/N: So I may have gotten massively drunk last weekend as the region I live in celebrates a specific type of carnival that goes on for five days straight. I might have, maybe, drank a little bit too much during the music festival day and as I was drunkenly stumbling around, I wondered what it would be like to get drunk around svt.
Also, am I the only one who has a K-pop idols I want to get drunk with bias line? Currently, my list consists of Lee Know, Xiumin, Jin and San (to name a few). Just wondering whether that is a normal thing to have or whether I should be concerned about my sanity.
Tumblr media
Scoups/Seungcheol
❀ Chances are that if you are drunk around him, so is he. Coups loves a good party on the occasion and isn't a stranger to clubbing. However, where he can hold his liquor and knows his limits, you may have forgotten about yours. Part of him adores your clinginess and finds you adorable; thus, he lets you be your embarrassingly drunk self, laughing at your shameless and less-than-stellar dance moves. As long as you are in the safe, not-too-drunk zone, he will let you have fun and try to match your drinking pace.
❀ However, the moment he notices that you are crossing the line into way too drunk territory, the responsible part of him will kick in, and he will chase you around with water. He will get very serious, going all alpha leader on you and doing whatever it takes for you to take a sip of water.
❀ No amount of cuteness or begging will convince him to stop his getting you sober plight; you can flirt all you want with him, but once he is concerned for your well-being, it is difficult to persuade him to let you keep on drinking. He is definitely not above cutting the night short either, taking you home instead. If you do as much as refuse, he will throw you over his shoulder and walk out like you weigh nothing.
Tumblr media
Jeonghan
❀ To the poor soul who decided to get drunk around this man, I hope that he will never feel the urge to show those embarrassing videos that he took of you to those around you. Although he will, of course, keep his eye on you to prevent you from getting progressively drunker, he is enjoying you being drunk way too much. He will have his camera out the entire time and instigate you to do something embarrassing that sober-you would very much regret.
❀ He has an entire folder dedicated to your drunken mishaps, whether it is a five-minute video of you slurring your words as you argue why cows are grossly underappreciated when it comes to favourite animals or you crying as you hug a tree, sobbing that they do not receive enough love. Jeonghan cherishes every single photo and video he took of you being drunk, frequently rewatching them to cheer himself up.
❀ Honestly, it never fails to make you regret drinking around this man because he has no problem using it as blackmail against you. Whenever you try to argue with him during game nights, he will subtly reference one of your entertaining escapades, teasing you that anyone who repeatedly drunkenly asked whether turning a phone on aeroplane mode would give it the ability to fly is in no position to argue with him.
Tumblr media
Joshua
❀ He is so unbelievably gentle with you. The moment he senses that you are getting ab bit too tipsy or borderline drunk, he will make sure to switch to water for himself instead. Although he enjoys the occasional drink, he wants to make sure that he is able to take care of you, letting you freely drink whilst he makes sure you do so safely.
❀ He is genuinely the sweetest, listening to all your drunken ramblings with a fond smile on his face. Whenever you are not paying attention to him, he will secretly switch out your alcoholic beverage for water, cheekily gaslighting you into believing that it is still the same drink by taking a sip himself and pretending that you are imagining things when exclaim it no longer tastes like vodka.
❀ When you guys get home, he will go into full caregiver mode, helping you remove your makeup, making sure that you didn’t forget to plug in your phone for the night and laying out your comfiest pyjamas for you to slip into after a brief shower. He will tuck you into bed after making sure that you drank enough water for the night, preparing a glass of water and some medication for you to take in the morning when the hangover kicks in, before turning in himself.
Tumblr media
Jun
❀ The moment you enter your shared apartment drunk, Jun feels torn between laughing at your ridiculous actions spurred by your drunkenness and helping you sober up. Seeing you put your hand in the fish tank as you try to pet your now traumatised goldfish because you felt bad for never petting it before is hilarious to him. He is curious about what else you might do, following you around as you try to do more ridiculous things. He is thoroughly invested in seeing where your drunken brain is taking you next and what else you will get up to if he lets you roam around.
❀ Jun will entertain your drunken childlike curiosity, using it to finally be able to do the totally safe experiments you usually tell him off for. The two of you will engage in a plethora of dubious food experiments, mixing different drinks to find out whether they will taste any good together and go to the supermarket to buy a dozen different ice cream flavours in order to rank them all. Where usually you would scold him for trying to see whether a bath can really overflow, drunken-you would join him in watching the water level rise slowly.
❀ However, he simultaneously will be very caring, preparing a hearty meal to combat your drunkenness. He might not be the best chef in Seventeen, but he can cook up a couple of meals that help with absorbing the alcohol, preparing one of them to help you sober up a bit. He will ensure that you eat plenty of it and drink enough water before you go to bed.
Tumblr media
Hoshi/Soonyoung
❀ In no universe is this man not drunker than you are when the two of you go out drinking. Hoshi’s tolerance is so incredibly low that he could get drunk on the smell of alcohol alone. The other members have to babysit the both of you, not even for your own safety but for those around you. He would be the type of person who, when you buy your shots, forgets that they are not his and, in his drunken stupor, take them when you turn around to pay. You are too drunk to notice either, not that it matters much, as you finish most of his drinks on accident, too.
❀ The dance floor is a danger zone when you two step onto it. Neither of you cares much about dancing decently; instead, the two of you have a competition going on who can come up with the most creative, shameless dance moves. The dance battle only ends when one of you accidentally knocks over a slow-dancing couple during an emotional ballad.
❀ The other members will ultimately have to step in, guiding you back home before either of you does something illegal. It is easier said than done; the two of you are so incredibly drunk that you decide to pose and take pictures with random statues you spot on your way home. Once home, they try to get you both to drink water but miserably fail as Hoshi completely breaks down, professing his undying love for you between sobs. The night ends with the two of you in each other’s arms, crying about how much you love each other.
Tumblr media
Wonwoo
❀ Considering he doesn’t really drink himself, he will make sure you are not exceeding your drinking limits, babysitting you the entire time. However, where he usually makes sure to stop you from getting drunk the moment he notices you are getting tipsy, he hadn’t anticipated that the dinner with the members would turn into an out-of-control drinking party. When they suggested doing some drinking games whilst waiting for the food, he had assumed they would have gone easy on you; instead, you had lost so many of the drinking games that you were borderline drunk by the time that the food reached to your table.
❀ Throughout the dinner, Wonwoo tries to get you to drink as much water as he can. Your glass doesn’t stay empty for long as, rather than eating himself, he is way too focused on making sure that it is constantly filled with water. You have barely swallowed your food when he puts another piece of meat on your plate, hoping that the grease will help you sober up somewhat.
❀ When the members insist on playing more drinking games during and after the dinner, he initially refuses on your behalf. If you insist on continuing, he will awe the members by taking every punishment shot going your way for you. Unfortunately for him, the members have finally figured out a way to get Wonwoo to join their drinking festivities, using you as bait to get the usually introverted member to drink.
Tumblr media
Woozi/Jihoon
❀ As another member who rarely, if ever, drinks, he always tells you to be careful when you do. When you get invited out for drinks with the members, he fully trusts them to keep an eye on you for his sake as he is stuck in the studio, having to finish a song. What he is not expecting, however, is for them to call him at 1 AM to come pick you up, as they may have grossly overestimated your alcohol tolerance. He can hear drunk-you brabble about how much you miss him in the background of the phone call as he talks to the members about coming over to take you home.
❀ With a big sigh, he makes his way over to the pub you guys had been drinking at, realizing that it might not have been the smartest to have the members who frequently drink and have built up quite the tolerance take you drinking. He is not necessarily angry at you or the members; instead, he is disappointed in himself for not having been there with you to ensure you would not go past your drinking limits.
❀ He is incredibly gentle with you when he finally arrives at the pub, scooping you up in his arms, ready to take you home. He will hear no apology on your part or the members, reassuring you that it happens and that although he would like for it to be prevented in the future, he understands that getting drunk happens. At home, he will be so soft as he makes sure to give you whatever you need. He will make sure not to leave your side, helping you shower and giving you plenty of cuddles in bed to make you feel better.
Tumblr media
DK/Seokmin
❀ Another member who is probably just as drunk as you are, if not more. He would be getting drunk with you, sharing most of his drinks with you to the point where neither of you remembers which drink belongs to whom. He is definitely enabling your drunk behaviour and perhaps even the cause of it because whenever he picks up his shot of soju, he makes sure to give you one, too.
❀ He will rope you into doing something stupid, putting on one of his infamous skits with you as the second lead. You don’t know where he got a wig from, but he is fully engrossed in his role as Sandra, the woman who is about to be eaten by zombies. Where sober-you would be mortified by his behaviour, you are currently too drunk to care, down to join him as one of the vicious zombies. It doesn’t help that a small part of him still feels embarrassed about his actions and keeps taking a swig of the soju bottle left on your now-unoccupied table, making him progressively drunker as the performance continues.
❀ At the very least, your performance will be enjoyed by a considerably large, amused audience who decide to pay for some of your drinks in appreciation, making it a relatively cheap night out. Neither of you will be able to do much the next day as both of you completely forgot to drink water before going to bed, too busy re-enacting the best moments of your play, resulting in a massive hangover. As a result, the two of you spend most of the next day cuddled up in bed; DK claims that your hugs are the best cure for his crushing headache.
Tumblr media
Mingyu
❀ Mingyu sometimes forgets that taller people tend to be able to drink more compared to those who are more vertically challenged; thus, he accidentally got you very drunk when he dragged you to go clubbing with him and the members. That being said, he is not feeling too guilty about it because where sober-you would try to limit the PDA in front of the other members, drunk-you completely forget they exist. Mingyu is on cloud nine when you start to touch him more than usual, thinking he has officially gone to heaven as you hug him close and refuse to let go.
❀ He is giggling uncontrollably, as you are all over him, insisting on slow-dancing to every song that comes on, even if it is to the most upbeat techno song. Although he makes sure that you don’t get too drunk, he will not make any attempts to sober you up immediately either, enjoying your attention way too much. He, for sure, will take at least fifty photos and videos where you are kissing his cheek and drunkenly rambling on and on about how much you love him, saving them for a rainy day. You are the cutest person alive to him, and he seriously considers always bringing you along from now on.
❀ Once home, he will make sure that you are fully provided for, cheekily suggesting to shower together as he is incredibly ‘worried’ that you might slip in the shower in your drunken state. Part of Mingyu is slightly sad to see you sober up when he hands you your tenth glass of water in an attempt to prevent a nasty hangover.
Tumblr media
The8/Minghao
❀ There is no way in hell that Minghao is not watching you like a hawk when the two of you go drinking, taking away your drinks when he notices that you are getting a bit too out-of-control drunk. You always try to argue with him when he does, whining that you, the adult, know your limits and don’t need him to babysit you. Thus, to prove you wrong and to get you to stop arguing with him whenever he stops you from drinking, he makes a deal with you; you get to drink however much you want, and he won’t interfere with drunk you whatsoever.
❀ This is how you end up drunk out of your mind at one of the members’ birthday parties, challenging Seungkwan to an arm wrestling match after you had tried to beat a drunk and crying Hoshi in a dance battle without much success. You even competed in Scoups’ and Mingyu’s beer pong competition, making you drunker than you already were. Minghao hovers nearby, ready to jump in when necessary, keeping a close eye on your questionable actions. His phone is in his hands as he quietly films you from a distance, ready to present sober-you with the consequences of your drunken decisions.
❀ Nevertheless, he will interfere whenever you are about to do something too embarrassing; sure, he wants you to learn that you do stupid things when wasted, but he does not want you to be relentlessly teased by the other members for your intoxicated mishaps. Minghao will immediately take you back home and sober you up when he thinks that he has let you go on for long enough and that he has collected enough evidence to prove his claims. The next morning, he will lovingly confront you with reality, regardless of whether or not you are nursing a hangover, after which you agree that maybe, sometimes, he might have a point.
Tumblr media
Seungkwan
❀ Seungkwan is honestly one of the best people to get drunk around. Sure, he drinks himself, but the moment he notices that he is getting tipsy, he slows down his drinking. He has had to deal with the members being drunk so often that he has developed successful ways of dealing with drunk people, making him well-equipped to deal with you. The moment you sheepishly admit that you are slightly drunk when you two are having dinner with the members, he will do his famous drunk check, rubbing over your forehead, making you giggle uncontrollably, before concluding that, indeed, you are gone.
❀ The entire evening, he will treat you like a little kid, listening to your drunken ramblings and providing you with sassy and funny remarks in exchange. He loves that you are laughing even more at his jokes than usual, and he will not miss a chance to elicit another fit of laughter out of you by doing something stupid. Seungkwan is not above embarrassing himself as long as it means that you are entertained.
❀ Honestly, I can’t imagine Seungkwan letting you do anything embarrassing. He will make sure that you sober up a little, providing you with water every now and then, and talk you out of whatever stupid plan you were about to execute. The moment he spots you climbing onto the bar, ready to execute your and Hoshi’s well-choreographed but slightly ridiculous dance routine, he will expertly redirect your attention to something else, making you completely forget about what you were about to do. As funny as he knows it would be for you to embarrass yourself, he knows you would be mortified the next day when you find out what you did the previous night and is fully committed to preventing that from happening. He would never let you do anything you would regret sober.
❀ Still, if you refuse to listen to him or you manage to do something stupid when he is momentarily distracted, he would not let you live it down.
Tumblr media
Vernon
❀ Similarly to Jun, he is highly amused by your drunken escapades, curious to see what you will do. Where Jun, however, will join you in your antics, Vernon will mostly observe you, laughing his chair-screeching laugh as he does. He is not going to interfere whatsoever and lets you do whatever comes to your drunken mind, highly amused by whatever you are doing. Unless you are doing something illegal or dangerous, he is letting you do whatever your drunken brain convinces you to do.
❀ Getting drunk around Vernon means providing him with an arsenal of slightly embarrassing pictures that will be stored for later use. His phone is in his hand the whole evening, and he will make sure to snap thousands of images of your intoxicated self as you pose for him. You completely forget about him taking the pictures until he starts using them as stickers and memes in your private chat. Most of his reactions to your messages are you pulling a weird face. It wouldn’t have been that bad if he hadn’t started using them in the Seventeen group chat and as his phone’s background.
❀ As Vernon doesn’t strike me as someone who drinks often, he wouldn’t really be much help in sobering you up and making sure you won’t have too bad of a headache in the morning. Instead of making sure you drink enough water and get enough sleep, he convinces you to stay up late to watch a movie with him, entertained by your drunken commentary throughout, most of which he records. Needless to say, when morning arrives, you wake up with a lot of regrets.
Tumblr media
Dino/Chan
❀ Dino is the king of being drunk; the amount of stories this dude has where he is wasted and doing something questionable are too many to count. Of course, he will be drunk with you, and of course, you two will create the best, most amusing drunk story ever. He had tried so hard to take the punishment shots for you whenever you lost a drinking game, not wanting you to get too drunk, resulting in both of you being incredibly intoxicated and hyping the other up to do some questionable stuff. The members tried to supervise the both of you, but you managed to escape when they got distracted for merely a second.
❀ In retrospect, your memories are kind of hazy on what had actually happened that night. In flashes, you remember a couple of rich people inviting you guys along, a boat, a garden gnome and something about a museum. Somehow, at the end of the night, you two end up in a fancy hotel, holding a garden gnome under your arm, all expenses paid, with the staff congratulating you on your engagement as you sport a very cheap plastic ring on your ring finger.
❀ In the morning, the two of you are nursing massive hangovers, utterly confused about where you are and how you managed to get there. Dino sees the thirty-plus missed calls from the members, knowing he is in a world of trouble, and someone mysteriously saved under the name Bob the Magician. The ring is so tight around your finger that you barely manage to get it off. Still, neither of you is planning on leaving any time soon, enjoying the luxury hotel the next couple of days as you try to piece together what transpired that night after ensuring the members that you are not dead in a ditch somewhere.

You did stupid things when you were drunk, this wasn't new information for you. And yet somehow you always gave in when your friends asked you to come out with them. You were beginning to rethink that now as you sat in the waiting area of a tattoo parlor, fidgeting hands clasped in your lap.
It was a dumb slip up after mentioning that you'd always wanted to get a tattoo. Your friends got all excited, insisting that you had to do it, that you'd look so hot with a tattoo, that you needed to step out of your comfort zone or you'd end up becoming an old hermit who never did anything but sit in your house and watch dramas. The last one stung a bit, you had to admit. But the real nail in the coffin was Mingyu announcing that he'd texted his tattoo artist about setting up an appointment.
And see, it wasn't that you were afraid, you were just...unsure about making the life-long commitment that came with getting some random man's art printed on your body forever. Especially when it was going to hurt the whole time. You were about a second away from just chickening out all together, turning tail and leaving the shop when your name was called. You looked up, eyes wide like a deer in the headlights. It was just the receptionist, bleach blonde hair with the longest legs you'd ever seen. He smiled, and it put you a little bit at ease. After all, he'd been nothing but sweet when checking you out.
"Minghao should be just about ready. I'll walk you back." He said. You nodded, getting up to follow him back as you nervously fiddled with the hem of the skirt you wore. Easy access, Mingyu had said. "To your thigh for the tattoo!" He'd added after a solid smack to his arm from Wonwoo.
You tugged it a little lower. Maybe it had been a bad choice to get a tattoo in a place that would leave so much of you exposed to a complete stranger. You didn't have time to overthink it because the man in front of you slowed to a stop, knocking on the door in front of him before swinging it open.
The inside wasn't exactly what you'd been expecting, there were a few plants carefully placed around the room, and the music that was playing was nothing like the intense atmosphere you'd been picturing. There were pictures hung up over near a small desk, grinning faces and dorky images of a group of friends goofing around in various settings, and a stuffed frog sitting in the corner of the desk with a miniature birthday had strapped to his head. You smiled.
But the most unexpected part had to be the man sitting on a rolling stool in front of a tray of only slightly intimidating materials. He was breathtaking. Dark hair swooped in front of his face where he was leaned over, and you could see the glint of metal speared through his eyebrow. He was long and lithe, one arm covered entirely in absolutely beautiful tattoos that spiraled and swirled against his tanned skin.
"You must be Y/N." He said, finally looking up from what he was doing and taking the black gloves off of his hands. He stood, shaking out his hair and letting it frame the most beautiful brown eyes you'd ever seen. How the fuck had Mingyu never mentioned that his tattoo artist was a walking wet dream?
"Yeah. Yup that's me. Minghao?" You guessed, shifting your weight to try and relieve the tension that was now tightening through your body. He nodded again. His smile was merely a polite curl of his lips before he turned to the other man still lingering to make sure the both of you were good.
"You know, you're supposed to wait for an answer when you knock on a door." He said, and you saw the teasing glint in his eye as the blonde rolled his eyes and muttered something about Minghao being behind schedule and trying to save his reviews. "Thank you, Jun. We're good here. Right?"
He looked at you and you nearly shivered, but you managed a nod and a tight smile.
"Yeah. Good." You agreed. Jun seemed more than satisfied with that, telling Minghao to grab him if he was needed.
"Hop up here, get comfy." Minghao said, motioning towards the leather seat. You carefully settled yourself into it, letting your legs stretch out and your head tip back against the headrest. You could feel your heart hammering all the way in your stomach, nerves beginning to overtake any coherent thoughts that had been in your mind before. "Nervous? Mingyu said you might be. But I promise you're in good hands."
You laughed weakly.
"Yeah I didn't exactly expect to do this. But my friends didn't give me a chance to argue. So here I am." You said.
Minghao turned to face you again, brow furrowed for a moment.
"You can back out if you want. I won't charge or anything for the appointment. I don't want you to decide to do this just because you were pressured into it. And I can tell Mingyu off if you want me to. Could be fun." He said. Your stomach fluttered at the genuine tone of his voice. Still you shook your head.
"I can't, they'd never let me live it down. And I really do want the tattoo. I have for ages. I'm just kinda scared. Never been good at commitment." You joked. And, thankfully, Minghao laughed quietly at your comment.
"Okay, might as well get it over with, then. Which leg are we doing?" He asked, and you patted the one you'd planned out. He nodded, rolling himself into place and bringing the tray over where he needed it. He was relaxed as he explained the plan.
"Okay, can I touch you?" He asked, his hand hovering above your thigh and you swore you could feel the want burning you from the inside out. You nodded again, and he smoothed his hand carefully over your leg, up your thigh until he was stopped by the hem of your skirt. "Gonna move this, okay? Tell me if you're uncomfortable."
He pushed your skirt up, guiding you to move a little bit so he had better access to the spot he needed to get at. Once your upper thigh was exposed, he laid the stencil he'd made over your skin.
"You gotta tell me exactly where you want it. This is the part where we can change things up. But once I start inking there's no going back, yeah?" He looked up, eyes dark and intense.
"Understood." You said. "A little bit higher, I think? And just a little to the- yeah, right there." You said finally, and he hummed. You brought your hands back, putting as much distance between the two of you as possible while he was laying the stencil out onto your leg.
The process of him preparing the tattoo gun was terrible, anxiety flooding through you as if you would drown in it. The buzzing made you jump, and you barely caught the flash of amusement that flicked across his face.
"Alright, we're gonna get started now. It's gonna hurt a little, but I know that you can take it. Just a little pinch. And if you want to take a breather, just let me know, okay? I'm here for you, so don't feel pressured to power through." He said. You swallowed and agreed quietly. You watched as he started up. The pain wasn't as bad as you'd imagine, though it was taking a lot of focus for you not to flinch away from the particularly bad stings.
It was mostly quiet as he worked, occasionally interrupted by one of you asking the other a question or commenting on the music that was playing. He had good taste, you learned, you had similar music tastes. He'd been tattooing since he finished school, and he'd done some of his own as well. And he had more tattoos than you could count on one hand. You could see the several on each ear, the one in his eyebrow, one in his nose, and the one that adorned his tongue (which you tried really really hard not to stare at when he spoke), but you couldn't see the others and you'd be lying if you said your mind wasn't racing at the idea of him having his nipples pierced.
"We're halfway done," He said finally, "You're doing fucking amazing, knew you'd be perfect for me." He said, wiping over the spot he'd finished. You tipped your head back, stifling a tiny whimper at the way he talked to you and trying not to let your thighs clench. You cleared your throat before looking down at the work he'd done.
"Woah," You said softly. He sat back, a proud look flickered in his eye as you examined his work, dark ink swirling into the shape of a cherry tree branch in full blossom arching just below your bikini line. "It's amazing. I can't believe it."
"Glad you like it. Do you want a snack? Something to drink?" He asked, taking a moment to stretch. You admired him as he did, the lean muscles that flexed in his arms.
"Uh, some water would be nice." You admitted, and he got up, striding to the mini fridge to pass you a water and grabbing his own iced tea. While the both of you took a little break, you pulled out your phone, sending the group chat between you and your friends a series of scathing, vicious texts berating Mingyu for not giving you some sort of heads up about how sexy your tattoo artist was.
The rest of the appointment went smoothly, something you were eternally grateful for considering the very precarious situation you were put in. You had completely soaked through your panties, you had no doubt, and if you moved just right you were sure that Minghao would be able to see the wet patch from where he was working. Hell, his knuckles were a few inches away from it, and you kept imagining what would happen if he moved just a little closer. If he touched you where you really wanted him to instead of just the spot on your thigh that he was very professionally focused on.
The session had ended with him wrapping the tattoo up carefully and giving you an instruction packet on how to care for it and his card. You eyed his personal number that was printed at the bottom for a moment before slipping it into your wallet.
"I want you to come back in about 5 or 6 weeks so I can make sure it's healed okay and see if it needs any touching up, okay?" He said, reaching a hand out to help you up. You took it, letting him pull your weight up easily and then letting it drop to smooth over the fabric of your skirt as if that would iron out the flustered energy that you were filling the room with.
"Okay, yeah. I'll see you then. Thank you for everything, you're amazing." You said. Minghao grinned then, his tongue poking out to play with the metal bar running through it for a moment before he pulled it back.
"Anything for you. I look forward to seeing you next time."
You made your follow up appointment on the way out, Jun giving you a mischievous smile as you said goodbye.
After that, you spent a truly humiliating amount of time thinking about Minghao. First when you got home and your hand found it's way between your legs to deal with the mess you'd made there, then again every time you'd peek at the mark he'd left on your skin, something even deeper than any mark you'd ever taken before, and you could only imagine how delusional you could become if you let yourself.
Every day proved a challenge as you watched it heal, cleaning it carefully just like he'd instructed and admiring the art you'd become a canvas for. It was everything you'd wanted it to be and you were endlessly amazed that anyone had the skill to make dreams come to life. Although if it was Xu Minghao, you supposed that it made sense.
The weeks passed slowly, and while you never forgot about Minghao, the constant knowledge of how easily he got you worked up with a few innocent words and the press of his hands against your thigh faded to the back of your mind. Work took precedence, and spending times with your friends who you did not in face throttle for sending you in blind. All in all, your life seemed to have moved on.
But as you returned several weeks later for the follow up you'd scheduled, it all came rushing back. The reminder that Minghao would be seeing you, that maybe he'd touch you, that he'd be so focused and so kind, it hung heavy over your head and settled as a warmth in your core.
It wasn't Jun manning the desk this time, instead some mildly intimidating woman that you didn't know who walked you back and knocked on Minghao's door. She waited until it opened, an agonizing few seconds before he was in your sight, and the moment you saw him it all came rushing back. Your body felt like it was overheating, and you didn't miss the deliberate, slow way his eyes scanned you up and down. He tipped his head, reaching up to mess with his hair.
"Y/N. Welcome back. Did you miss me?" He was teasing you, and your laugh was breathless and nervous as you smiled.
"Course I did. Why else would I come back?" You asked. And for a brief moment you considered getting a whole lot more tattoos if it meant getting closer to him, spending more time bantering and learning the parts of himself that he didn't reveal right away. Hell, you might even be convinced to ask him to pierce you somewhere.
"Come in, I've got it from here, Chaer." He said, a hand on the small of your back guiding you into the room and closing the door fully behind you. He hadn't done that last time, leaving it just a little bit ajar in case anything was needed. The new vulnerability that being shut in a room with him brought made you a little nervous.
Minghao took a moment to get prepared, settling down on his stool and gesturing for you to get comfortable in the same spot you'd been in before.
"So, how's she looking? Do you like it?" He asked, motioning to the barely visible ink poking out from under your skirt - a different one than before, one that made you feel a little more confident. You beamed.
"It's perfect. I think it's all healed up." You pulled your skirt up with a load more confidence than you had before, and you heard Minghao take in a small breath, his lips pressed into a thin line for a moment before he was reaching out to touch you. He wasn't wearing gloves this time, just brushing his bare fingertip along the edge of the art.
"Look at you. It looks great, healed perfectly. You must be a good listener." He said, tipping his head up to look at you, and the darkness in his eyes made you shiver as you nodded slowly.
"I like being good. Have to take instructions well." You said softly, and you saw Minghao swallow. God you wanted him so goddamn badly. He squeezed your thigh.
"Don't close them." He said, startling you a little as he took the first step across the line. Had you been clenching them? You hadn't even noticed, too distracted by the hungry look in his eye and the throbbing between your legs. "I saw the way you looked at me last time. Mingyu said you think I'm hot. Called me a walking wet dream, is that right?"
You swallowed as his hand slid towards the inside of your thigh, pulling them wider apart. He watched you intently as your head tipped back, breath coming out as a shaky gasp for a moment before you were looking back at him. He tipped his head, clearly still waiting for an answer.
"Yeah, that's what I said." You answered, barely above a whisper. But even so, with just the two of you in the room and the music so quiet in the background, it echoed in your ears. He chuckled, lips curling just a little, and you damn near whined his name. "He wasn't supposed to tell you that."
"What? Like I couldn't see you getting all wet for me last time. Practically had your skirt hiked up around your hips. Took fucking everything in me not to touch you." He admitted, slowly pushing at your skirt to get it out of his way. "But you'll let me touch this time, right? Make you feel good. Gonna take such good care of you."
You nodded, a needy whine slipping past your lips. Minghao tutted, mumbling for you to use your words. You huffed, and he gave you a warning squeeze to your thigh, blunt nails digging into the soft flesh there
"Please, Hao. Want you to touch me." You gave in, and he gave an approving nod before pushing your thighs apart and knocking your skirt easily out of the way. How long fingers found the edge for your panties, teasing along them before slipping under the flimsy fabric to feel your dripping folds. He was slow as he dragged his fingers through the mess he'd coaxed out of you, coating his fingers in your arousal before pulling them away to slide your panties down your legs.
With your lower half finally bare for him, he took a  moment to appreciate the sight, but only a singular moment. Then he was pushing your thighs apart and burying his tongue between your folds, lapping like a man starved at your arousal. The sudden feeling of him eating you out had you choking on a wail that you were certain anyone else in the building could hear, but he didn't seem bothered by the thought one bit. If anything he was spurred on, humming appreciatively as his lips wrapped around your clit.
You carded your fingers through his hair, revelling in the unfamiliar feeling of cool metal rolling against the underside of the bundle of nerves. He knew exactly how to utilize it, the perfect pressure dragging against your clit followed by light suckling that had your hips lifting up towards his mouth.
He slid a finger into you, never pulling his mouth away as he pumped it slowly into you. He was careful, experimental, desperately trying to find every spot that would draw out those pretty little sounds from your mouth. He slid a second finger inside, scissoring them open carefully and making you hiss.
"Hao, please." You nearly whined, hand tugging at the dark locks of his hair, not sure whether you meant to be pushing him away or pulling him closer. He hummed against your pussy, burying his tongue as deep as he could alongside his fingers, your clit bumping against his nose and making you bite down on the back of your hand to keep from wailing loud enough for the entire city block to hear.
Your orgasm crashed over you in waves, leaving your thighs trembling and your breath coming in quiet gasps. He kissed over your thighs, carefully lapping up the mess of spit and cum that had smeared on your skin, all the while running his fingertips over the ink he'd left on your skin. His phone buzzed on the table next to you, and he sat back, wiping the wetness on his chin away with the back of his hand and reaching to grab it. He read the message, lips curling into a small frown.
"I have a client that just scheduled for 15 minutes from now." He said, looking up at you with that same disappointed look. "I wasn't done with you yet."
His words make your lips part, a small, flustered laugh filling the quiet before you found your words.
"What time do you get out? We could grab some takeout and eat at my place. Finish this after?" You said. You sounded much more confident than you had anticipated, especially given that you had just been ravished by the man like you were a five course meal from a Michelin star restaurant. Minghao smiled even so, and the pale pink that tinted his cheeks made it hard to believe what he'd been doing only moments prior.
"Yeah, I'm off at 8. I'll see you then?" He asked. You nodded, making a mental note to thank Mingyu after you throttled him for spilling your secret boy talk. But maybe having a loudmouth best friend wasn't always bad.

the8 - concert
word count : 577
-
"will you stop moving?”
"the wire to my mic pack keeps moving," the8 whined while moving in his chair.
"i have to get your makeup done. you want half of your face to not have makeup?" you said to him. he stayed still for a second and you put some product on his face before he started moving around again. "babe, really?"
"you try wearing this," he said to you.
you grabbed a different brush from the pocket in your apron and dipped the brush into some product. "going for your eyes. stay still so i don't poke you," you instructed him.
the8 closed his eyes and you applied eyeshadow to his eyelids. despite how uncomfortable he was, he stayed still so he wouldn't mess you up.
"okay, done," you said to him when you were done.
"we need performance team on standby!" someone announced, yelling into the room.
you moved out of the way so the8 could stand up. he took a sip of water before leaving, with you following behind him. you followed him to where he would enter the stage from. someone held a flashlight for you while you fixed his hair for a second.
"you know, my hair is just going to be a mess after like two songs," the8 said to you.
"did you forget that this is my job?" you replied to him. "okay, you're good for the stage," you smiled. the person holding a flashlight turned it off, so you could barely see the8 now. "ready?"
"always," he replied to you. "thanks."
"mhm," you replied and kissed his cheek. however, you remembered that you were wearing lipstick. "oh no," you said in panic.
"what?" he asked.
you reached into your pocket for a napkin but couldn't find one.
"what is it, love?"
"i'm wearing lipstick, and the lipstick is on your cheek," you said to him. "hang on. let me run back."
"sorry, gotta go!"
the8 hurried away while giggling, and you watched him hurry up the stairs to get on stage with the other performance team members.
"xu minghao!" you yelled before groaning.
"what's wrong?" one of the staff members asked you.
"you're about to see..." you mumbled and looked at a monitor.
of course that song is on the set list...
"highlight" started playing and you could easily see the lipstick stain on the8's cheek. fans were cheering both probably from the lipstick stain and because of the outfits for their set.
you shook your head while watching, not because of the entirety, but because your boyfriend deliberately was showing off that he had a girlfriend to the audience.
he's glad i love him.
you continued watching the set and soon, "i don't understand but i luv u" came on. you watched the8 as he danced and felt like you were in a trance as you watched him. then, the song ended and the performance came back while the hip hop team went on stage.
you walked into a hallway, waiting for the performance team to come through. as they did, the8 came up to you and grabbed your hand; both of you walking to the dressing room together.
"so? how'd i look up there?" he asked you with a grin.
"trying to get me in trouble?" you asked him.
"nah, trying to show that i'm taken," he said with a chuckle. "you can give me some more."
"yea, maybe not in the middle of a concert."

Surrounding you were walls of red and orange. Even the ground you walked on was covered in the autumnal colors. The sound of your feet walking down the laid-out path was dull, the soft ground barely making a sound as you stepped on it. The only thing you could hear was the wind soaring through the trees, and even that was muffled. You were in your own bubble while walking there, which is just what you had wanted. As soon as the leaves started changing colors, you had been craving to go out to the forest - see the beautiful seasonal change, smell the dewy grass, and be surrounded by nothing but nature. Minghao had answered your call. His hand was holding yours, his thumb slowly rubbing circles on the back of your palm, and your arms were swinging between you. Minghao’s hand was so warm and soft, that you were unsure of how you’d make yourself let go of it later. Your hand was warm… but the rest of you was freezing.
Minghao had been smart, he had looked at the weather report and wore light, but many, layers. You had looked at the sunny day, felt the air for a little bit through your window, and deduced that a thick sweater would be all you needed. You were deadly wrong. You had tried to focus on Minghao’s warm hand, but not even the butterflies in your stomach could make you forget how cold you were.
After shivering for a while, you came to a halt when Minghao suddenly stopped walking. Without a word, he let go of your hand to shrug off his jacket. You watched him with a wrinkle in your brow, trying to figure out what he was doing. He wrapped his coat around your frame, and you finally understood.
“You don’t have to…” you said but didn’t make much more of a protest against his kind act.
“Of course I do.” Minghao helped you get your arms into the sleeves of his coat. “There you go.”
He looked at you with a warm gaze and, even though the jacket helped a lot, it was enough to make you heat up again. After fixing the collar, he held out his hand for you to take again. You gladly accepted the offer, and the two of you started walking again.
“Won’t you be cold?” you asked.
“I’ll be alright, I have my scarf.” He proudly motioned to his scarf. “Besides, I was getting cold from just looking at you shivering. It’ll be much better for me like this.”
“If you say so.”
Minghao hummed and pulled you a little closer, your arms now touching from time to time as you walked
✦ .
While the walk in the forest had been idyllic, the journey back definitely wasn’t. As soon as you left the metro station, it started raining. People were lined up at the edge of the metro station, except for the lucky few who had brought umbrellas with them. Minghao squeezed your hand gently, gaining your attention.
“This isn’t stopping any time soon.” He sighed.
“Definitely not.”
“Should we run for it?”
“... sure.”
Minghao grabbed your hand even tighter, and the two of you ran through the streets. The rain was freezing cold, hitting your face like small icicles. Nevertheless, neither you nor Minghao stopped smiling and laughing because of that.
By the time you got home, you were drenched - leaving water stains all over the floor of the entrance of your apartment building. Your hand was still gripping his tightly, and you had no plans of letting go. The two of you walked in silence, still gaining back your strength from the bad weather, and made your way to the elevator. You didn’t have to tell Minghao which button to press, and the doors closed quickly thereafter. The elevator took you up the apartment complex, and as you were nearing your floor you settled in a bitter-sweet feeling.
“Do you want to dry off a bit at my place before you leave? Maybe wait until it’s stopped raining?” You looked straight at the doors of the elevator, not daring to look at the man beside you. “... I wouldn’t mind having you around for a while longer.”
“I don’t think I can.” He squeezed your hand and you could feel his eyes stare holes into your skin. “Even though I want to... I have an early day tomorrow.”
You knew that it was already starting to get dark outside, and you wished that time could move just a little bit slower.
“Next time?” You finally met his gaze, and it sent a jolt of fireworks to the pit of your stomach.
“Next time,” he promised.
The doors to the elevator opened, and Minghao walked you to the door. You still hadn’t let go of his hand, you didn’t even think to do it. After unlocking the door and opening it, you turned to him again. He was still smiling like he had before - warm and caring.
“I had a really nice time,” you said.
“So did I,” he answered.
It was quiet. You were just looking at each other. But it was okay to just stand in silence with him. He was like a safe space. Always welcoming and never judging. Much to your dismay, his grip on your hand loosened until only his fingertips held onto yours.
“I should leave,” he murmured, glancing down at your lips.
You leaned a little closer, and he took a little step forward - both of you closing the distance as much as you could without making any too hasty movements. Minghao’s hand finally let go of yours, but you were soon reconnected with his touch as he cupped your cheek. Your noses were touching, but he didn’t close the gap. Taking the last step, you leaned forward and pressed your lips to his. It was a short kiss, some might even say it was just a peck, but it left your entire body tingling. He wasn’t nervous or overly cautious at all, he just needed your permission. Minghao stole another kiss before stepping away. You put your hand on the door handle while he walked backward to the elevator.
“Text me when you get home,” you peeped, not knowing what else to say.
He looked amused by your flustered state but nodded and replied with an “alright” before walking into the elevator. As soon as you heard it go down, you leaped into your apartment and slammed your door shut with an outburst of giddiness. Dancing around the hallway, you suddenly come to the realization that you’re still wearing Minghao’s jacket. You take it off carefully, feeling the thick fabric beneath your fingers, and put it up on the hanger.
✦ .
You hadn’t been dating Minghao for very long, and you hadn’t been able to meet as often as you wanted to, but everything seemed to be going so well. He was the kind of guy you had been dreaming about… which is why you hadn’t been able to let yourself fall for him. You toyed with the idea of letting go of your emotional restrictions, but your past experiences wouldn’t let you. In your mind, you still had to be careful no matter how kind and loving Minghao was. Still, when you see his text show up on your home screen you can’t help that your heart skips a beat.
The next day you woke up with a stuffy nose, an explosive headache, and a dull ache in your entire body. Even turning to pick up your phone was a chore, but you had to call in sick somehow. You spent the morning in bed, only getting up to go to the bathroom and get something to eat. Everything was either too hot or too cold; you couldn’t find a good balance. So, of course, you ended up napping for most of the day.
The buzzing sound of your phone on your bedside table woke you up from your slumber. It had only been a few hours, but it felt like it had been several days since you first got sick. You looked at the caller ID and your eyes widened as you saw Minghao’s name. Clearing your throat the best you can before answering, you tried to make yourself sound like you weren’t sick.
“Hello?” you asked and cringed at how rough your voice was.
“Hi… are you okay?” The background noise of the city slightly muffled Minghao’s voice.
“I’m okay!” You tried to make it sound convincing, but you weren’t very successful.
“Are you sure? You sound like you have a cold.”
“I’m just fi-” Before you could finish your sentence, your body betrayed you by sneezing. “I’m fine…”
“Sure…” he said, “Listen, I was just calling to ask if I could stop by to grab my coat but I can grab some food for you. Maybe soup?”
“Oh, you don’t have to! I can hang your coat outside my door, you can pick it up without getting close to me.” The words were pouring out of your mouth. “You shouldn’t have to get sick because of me- I know that you’re busy-”
“I’m not busy right now. Text me what you want and I’ll get something for you, I’m on my way to a grocery store.”
“Thank you.” You let out a sigh. “I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you right now.”
“I’m just doing what anyone would do. I’ll see you soon, yeah?”
The knock on your door was expected, but still made you jump. You were standing right beside it, you hadn’t been able to sit still on the couch while waiting, but when he knocked you slowly counted to five in your head before opening it. There he was, in all his glory, dressed in sweats, a knitted cardigan, and his glasses sitting low on his nose - still managing to look put together, even when his hair had been ruffled by the wind. Minghao’s face lit up as he saw you, and he held up a plastic bag of goods. You welcomed him inside, taking the bag from him, and watched as he took off his shoes. When he stood up, his eyes were met with his coat.
“Ah, perfect,” he hummed. “I’m sorry for intruding on you like this.”
“It’s okay, you’re not in-” Your sentence was cut off by a cough forcing its way out of your throat.
Minghao’s eyes were filled with pity. He took the bag back from you and helped you over to the couch. Once you sat down, he covered you in a blanket and put his hand against your forehead. His hand was cold, and you leaned against it.
“You’re burning up.” He sighed and removed his hand from your forehead. “I’ll go prepare this soup for you, is that okay?”
“I can do it myself, Hao, I don’t want you to waste your time-”
“I think I’m spending my time very wisely,” he said, “But if you want me to leave I will, of course.”
“... I’d like you to stay.”
“Good.”
Once your heart had settled, and as you watched Minghao working in your kitchen, you noticed that he looked a little tired. Maybe he just had a rough day or didn’t sleep well last night, but you were worried for him. Just as you opened your mouth to ask him about it, he turned around to see you staring.
“Where do you keep your spoons?” he asked.
“That drawer right there.” You pointed. “The top one.”
He looked and let out a satisfied “Ah!” when he found it. You smiled and continued watching him cook, your worries slowly fading away.
✦ .
You and Minghao ate on opposite ends of the couch, a random movie playing in the background on the TV. Every so often, you’d sneak glances at him - and only get caught when he was already looking at you too. Then you’d smile at each other awkwardly and go back to watching the movie. There was comfort in sitting in each other’s presence but also a lingering tension that was impossible to deny. It had started raining again. In the quiet parts of the movie, you could hear the pitter-patter of the raindrops against your windows. The sun had gone down too, the only light now was coming from the TV. You looked down at your bowl, which only had a few scraps left, and put it away on the table. Minghao had already done so a while ago.
“Thank you,” you said quietly.
Minghao tore his gaze away from the screen to look at you, slightly confused. You motioned to the bowls and he brushed it off.
“It was nothing, I’m glad I could help.”
“Still. I’m happy you stopped by,” you said, “Otherwise I’d probably just eat cereal for dinner.”
He moved closer to you, slow enough for you to tell him not to, and put his arm around your shoulders. You shuffled even closer to him, despite a nagging voice in your head telling you that you shouldn’t be getting him sick, and Minghao put his head on your shoulders. When you put your head on top of his, you could feel him relax and put more of his weight against you. The movie came to an end, and the credits rolled, and suddenly the apartment was dark. Neither of you moved, you didn’t dare to. Your fingers crept towards his, and he met you halfway. Trying to navigate in the dark, you fumbled around with your hands before eventually intertwining them. Minghao squeezed your hand, and you squeezed his hand back. You could feel him smiling against your shoulder. But then he started shuffling around, trying to get up.
“Don’t go,” you whined. “You’re so warm…”
“If I stay here, I’ll never get up,” he said, “And I have to do the dishes.”
His head left your shoulder, but you refused to let go of his hand. Minghao turned to you, still smiling. You could barely see the outline of his features in the dark, even when you focused as hard as you could. He leaned his forehead against yours, and you let out a soft sigh at the warmth coming back to you.
“I’ll do the dishes,” you hummed. “Tomorrow.”
“You won’t be sick tomorrow?” he asked.
“No, you’ve cured me.”
Minghao let out a short laugh and moved to place a kiss on your forehead. You hesitantly let go of his hand and watched as he walked away to the kitchen. He turned on the light, creating a warm spotlight right above him. With the light surrounding him in this way, you thought he looked like an angel. And maybe he was. An angel sent just for you, to care for you and keep you warm.
You watched his back as he did the dishes. The way his shoulders moved, how he went from resting on one hip to the other, and how his hands, somehow, elegantly put the dishes on the rack. With the blanket wrapped tightly around your shoulders, you made your way over to the kitchen. Your arms wrapped around his midsection, and you put your head against his back. Listening to his breathing, you could tell that there was something wrong.
“Are you okay?” you asked.
“I’m good now that you’re here,” he joked with a flirty tone.
“No- I mean, are you sick? Your breathing…”
You were cut off by Minghao trying, but failing, to hide his cough. The pieces were falling together; his tired eyes, how warm he was, and now the cough.
“Oh no, I’m sorry- did I get you sick?” You let go of him and tried to get a look at his face by standing beside him.
“I was sick before I came here,” he explained but you weren’t listening.
“You shouldn’t be doing the dishes, let me take over, please. Here, you can have the blanket- why don’t you go sit down?” You tried to take off the blanket, but Minghao grabbed your wrists.
His hands were still wet, so he quickly let go of you. But he had managed to stop your racing thoughts. You pulled the blanket tighter around you again.
“Leave the dishes in the sink, please. I’ll take care of it later,” you murmured.
Minghao sniffled and put the leftover dishes away before drying off his hands. You smiled at him, silently thanking him for listening. Then, you grabbed his hand and brought him back to the couch, and gave him another blanket.
“I’ll go change my bedsheets, you can sleep there tonight. I’ll take the couch.” You went to leave, but he didn’t let go of your hand.
Instead, Minghao pulled you back down to sit on the couch with him. He looked shy, for once, and wouldn’t hold your gaze for very long.
“If you don’t find it uncomfortable… Could you sleep in the bed with me?” he asked.
He was playing with your fingers, looking down at what he was doing. You smiled and leaned forward to press a kiss to his forehead.
“Sure.”
After changing the bedsheets, you told Minghao to come join you in the bedroom. You didn’t have many clothes that he could borrow, but you found him a shirt that he could wear to sleep. It was dark again. The two of you were lying under the sheets, with at least another person’s worth of space between you. You were on your back, staring up at the ceiling, and you could only assume that Minghao was in the same position.
“I was tired all day, but now I can’t sleep,” you whispered.
“Me neither,” Minghao whispered back.
You shuffled around, trying to find a better position but you ended up giving up rather quickly. You could hear Minghao turning to lie on his side.
“Could I…” he mumbled, “Could I hold you?”
You nodded, but realized that he probably couldn’t see you, and whispered out “Okay”. Minghao shuffled towards you, and you met him halfway. It seemed to be a theme between the two of you - things were never out of balance. When his arms met your waist, and he pulled you to lay against his chest, you felt your muscles slacken and your mind went blank. Your arms wrapped around his midsection, and you tried to pull him even closer. Minghao let go of one of his arms from you, for just a second, to pull the covers up around both of you. Now that everything felt right, the two of you lay in silence. Neither of you could fall asleep still.
“Thanks for coming over today,” you whispered.
“I wanted to see you again…” he said and added, “The coat was just an excuse.”
“Good. I wanted to see you too.”
You lay in silence again. Minghao started drawing small patterns on your back with his fingers, and you nuzzled your face closer to his chest. He smelled faintly of roses, or something else floral, and of your detergent - but you knew that was just from your shirt. He smelled like comfort. And his body was so warm, which you now knew was partly because he was sick, and it was finally the perfect temperature for you. Minghao let out a soft sigh, bringing you out of your thoughts.
“I have a hard time sleeping when I’m sick,” he murmured, “But when we were on the couch before - when I was leaning my head on your shoulder - I almost fell asleep immediately.”
You hummed in response, already feeling drowsy.
“Are you asleep?” he asked, and you shook your head. “If this is what it’s like being sick with you, then I don’t think I mind it one bit.”
“Will you stay tomorrow?” you whispered.
“Of course.”
✦ .
You didn’t know when you had ended up passing out. Something about Minghao’s presence, and his running hands on your back, put you in a trance. When you woke up, you were still in the same position. The sheets were a little bit more wrinkled, and your hands might have been in different positions but you couldn’t tell. Minghao was still asleep, and his grip was loose around you. You managed to get up easily, but immediately regretted it. Your apartment was freezing, one of the downsides of fall. Tip-toeing over to the closest piece of clothing that you could wrap around your bare arms, you picked it up and immediately recognized it as Minghao’s cardigan. You looked over at the still sleeping man in your bed, and decided to steal it from him - just for a little while.
While you were still sick, you were feeling better than the day before. So, you decided to make breakfast as a thank you to Minghao for making dinner last night. It wasn’t fancy, but it was the thought that counted. When you brought it into the bedroom, balancing it carefully on a tray, you found Minghao already awake. He smiled as soon as he saw you, but had to turn away to cough as you put down the tray on your bedside table.
“Good morning,” you said.
“Good morning,” he answered in between coughs.
You gave him a glass of water, which he gladly accepted. While he was drinking, you put your hand on his forehead. You had about the same temperature, but you knew that you had a fever as well. Minghao groaned when you pulled your hand away, immediately trying to get closer to you again. You took the half-empty glass from his hand and put it on the tray. He had his head on your chest, breathing softly against your skin. Forgetting the breakfast, you made yourself comfortable in bed and tried to make him more comfortable. Minghao started fidgeting with the cardigan you were wearing.
“Is this mine?”
“... yes.”
He smiled and pressed a skin on your clavicle, silently accepting you stealing his clothes.
“You can wear it,” he said, “As long as you let me stay like this.”

[13:39] lying on your shared couch with minghao, you're reminded once again why you love him so much as the two of you lazily bask in the early afternoon sunlight that streams through the window.
your head is resting on his lap with your nose buried into a book recommended by your lovely boyfriend. minghao's leaning back against the couch as he scrolled through his phone with one hand–a rare sight to see, he always preferred books over devices–and the other hand mindlessly playing with the tresses of your hair–a much more common sight to see. you enjoyed these moments. quiet, intimate moments where all you can hear is your breath and the occasional crumpling of the pages of the book you had in hand.
minghao let out a quiet grunt, and you forced your eyes away from the pages of the book to look up at him. he had a concentrated look on his face as he stared down the screen in his hand.
'hao, what's wrong?' your soft voice broke the comfortable silence. you reached up and smoothed out his bunched up eyebrows with your thumb. 'you'll get wrinkles, love'
'nothing, i js found a headcanon on tumblr about what kind of boyfriend our team would be and seungcheol's was kinda accurate' your boyfriend mumbled and took your hand that was resting on his face in his own. his long, slender fingers felt cool against your warm palm and you felt heat rising up to your cheeks.
'y-yeah? how so?'
'like they mentioned an inside joke only the team and our staff members plus you know about... like how did they know about that?' minghao questioned as he absentmindedly pressed his lips against your fingertips. he was obviously engrossed in whatever else was on his phone, so you left it at that.
you could only pray that what he was reading was not your post that you wrote literally 2 days ago in the dead of night when minghao came home a little later than usual from practice. unbeknownst to your lovely boyfriend of almost 2 years, you were actually an avid fanfic connoisseur with quite a big fanbase on tumblr. for, you guessed it, your boyfriend's team, seventeen.
you first started writing as a way to deal with your delulu-ness when you first developed a crush on minghao. you were just an office worker at hybe who got assigned to work with seventeen for a couple months as they prepared for their next comeback, and you had fallen head over heels for their lucky number 8. and when the two of you started dating, you published recreations of dates and little scenarios as a way to remember and relive all the smaller, intimate moments that brought you so much joy.
you were now regretting that choice.
you watched in horror as minghao's concentrated eyebrows furrowed into each other even more, his eyes pointing sharply towards his phone screen. you noticed how his thumbs began to scroll faster, and you caught a glimpse of his phone screen blurring past through the reflection of his glasses, which meant that he was scrolling down to look for his specific headcanon.
'hey, hao, isn't today laundry day-' you sat up briskly, trying to distract your boyfriend from his phone, but he gently pressed your head back down into his lap while quietly shushing you.
your book was now long forgotten and you ran your hands against your face, mentally preparing yourself for the worst. you covered your eyes with your hands and waited for minghao to say something. you don't know how much time passed but you were sure at this point, he had finished reading your entire masterlist.
he even chuckled under his breath at some point, and you could feel the vibrations of his low laughs throughout his body.
'[name], love, have you been writing about me?' your sweet boyfriend asked you in a soft voice as he gently removed your hands from your eyes.
you groaned in embarrassment and rolled to your side, hiding your face in his abdomen. 'i swear it's not what it looks like' you mumbled into the fabric of his soft shirt. you could still smell a trace of the fabric softener, and that helped you calm your heart rate a bit.
'yes, i started writing because i had a crush on you but then after we started dating, i thought this could be a cute way of keeping record of all of our dates and our more smaller, intimate moments that we might forget in a couple months, i swear i wasn't being creepy' you whined. 'please don't hate me... i can take down the account if you're uncomfortable'
minghao helped you sit up and held your burning face in his hands. 'my [name], my sweet, sweet [name]. why would i hate you? first and foremost, you can never do anything to make me hate you, and second of all, i think it's cute. do you have a lot of followers?'
your lips jutted out into a pout and brought up hand dejectedly, showing him how many followers you had with your fingers.
'4 followers? wow i'm so proud of you [name]- ow!' that earned him a smack on his arm.
'for your information, xu minghao, i have over 4k followers so don't even' you wagged a sassy finger in his face and he broke out into a boyish grin.
'ooo someone's famous'
'shut up you literally have 8 million followers on instagram'
minghao laughed and pulled you in for a tight hug. you wrapped your arms around his torso and leaned into his touch, feeling welcomed by the familiar scent of his fabric softener and his own scent you could never put your finger on.
'i love you, [name]. i can't wait for your collection to grow so we can read through them together once we grow gray and old'
you hummed into his shirt. 'i love you too. i hope the collection never stops growing'
minghao pulled away from the hug to look into your eyes, your chin resting between his thumb and index finger. he dropped down and pressed a quick kiss to your lips before pulling away and you immediately noticed the left corner of his lip tugging into a small, teasing smirk.
'me too'

8:13 PM ~ *Xu Minghao*
Tumblr media
Summary: You had a bad day at work. So you decided to become a blanket burrito. And your boyfriend decides to join you.
Pairing: Xu Minghao X Fem!Reader
Genre: Fluffy Drabble
Word Count: 259
Warning: N/A
Masterlist
Taglist: @foxwinter
There was a soft knock at the door as Minghao sighed. “Baby, you do realize you’re a burrito, right?”
You whined from inside your blanket cocoon. You had a bad day at work and were sore all over. All you wanted to do was wallow in your self pity. That and maybe indulge in some sweets because, dammit, you deserved it.
The bed dipped and you knew Minghao was sitting across from you. “Do you need anything? I can get you whatever you want. Name it and it’s yours.”
When you shook your head, he sighed before wrapping you into a hug. You didn’t protest and instead let him envelope you in warm, loving cuddles. He chuckled as he pulled you closer.
“You’re so cute, all snuggly and warm like this.” He murmured.
“Thanks.” Your heart wasn’t in your response, but you appreciated the cuddles nonetheless.
Minghao nuzzled into you closer, making a small smile appear on your face. “You don’t have to tell me what’s bothering you right now. You can tell me in your own time. I just hope I’m helping right now.”
“You are.” You assured him. “Your cuddles always solve everything.”
He hummed in contentment. “Glad to hear that. That just means I have to cuddle you more often.”
“Please.”
“Of course.” He moved some of the blanket away so he could kiss you on the cheek. “Anything for my favorite person in the world. But don’t tell the other members that.”
You chuckled before curling into him even more. “I wouldn’t dream of it.”

You were smiling at yourself as you prepared several cute snacks and placed them on the table in the living room of you and your boyfriends shared place.
You’ve been living together for three months now and you definitely don’t regret it. He’s been helping you with everything and made sure you weren’t doing all the housekeeping stuff alone.
He washed the dishes together with you, helped you with the laundry and even cooked sometimes. His food was amazing but he insists that your food is the best and you can’t complain about that.
So for this special day, you decided to make little cupcakes in his favorite colors and decorate them cutely. You just know he’ll love it.
Today’s his birthday but it feels like it’s yours, you’re just too excited, you’ve been skipping around your shared apartment for hours, preparing the food and setting up the living room and of course placing his gift on the table between all the snacks.
Your gift is small but it’s coming from the heart, that’s all that counts, besides that, you’re still unsure if he’ll like it.
You’ve been spending the hours he hasn’t been home the past few days, making earrings for him. You know that he loves his accessories and that he loves wearing earrings but you just aren’t sure if he’ll like the design.
With those thoughts and that excitement of him coming home from work you went upstairs to take a shower and change into comfortable but pretty clothes.
You practically ran downstairs as you heard the door open and ran into his arms as soon as the door had been closed, hugging him tightly.
“Happy Birthday” you giggled as you hugged him.
“Thank you my love” he said with a wide smile on his lips as he left a small kiss on your lips.
You smiled softly at him as you took his hand and guided him into the living room.
“Come on!” you giggled as you dragged him behind you into the living room.
He looked a bit surprised, turning to smile at you.
“You did all that?” he smiled, holding your hand a bit tighter.
You nodded eagerly as you looked at your boyfriend with a huge smile.
“You didn’t have to do all that my love, thank you so much” he said, pulling you into a tight hug.
“But I wanted to! You deserve only the best!” you exclaimed as you pulled away from the hug with a smile.
“Come on, sit down baby” you said, sitting down yourself and patting the empty spot on the couch beside you.
He chuckled softly as he sat down beside you, looking at all the food.
“Woah you’re the best, really, I love you so much” he said, smiling widely.
“Open the present!” you giggled as you grabbed the present and held it out to him.
He chuckled as he took the present and carefully opened it before also carefully opening the case as well.
You watched him excitedly, waiting for his reaction with a smile.
You let out a relieved sigh as you saw his face light up and a loud gasp leave his lips.
“Oh my god, those are gorgeous!” he exclaimed before looking at you with watery eyes and a huge smile on.
You let out a small gasp as you cupped his cheeks gently.
“Why are you crying? Don’t cry” you said, looking at him with a pout.
He chuckled lightly, looking at you with a smile.
“Those are happy tears my love, I love them! I’ll wear them everyday” he said before connecting your lips for a passionate kiss.
You smiled softly as you pulled away slowly.
“You better! I made them myself!” you teased with a huge smile.
He let out a small gasp “You made them?!”
You nodded, smiling brightly.
“Those are a special edition then, only I have them!” he giggled as he put them on quickly.
You chuckled softly, watching him.
“Only for the best boyfriend in the world. Happy Birthday love” you said again, snuggling into his body.
“This is the best birthday I ever had” he smiled, kissing your head softly.
“I love you” he says, wrapping his arms around your body.
“I love you too”

“Where do you want it, my love?” Minghao asked as he carried the shovel over to where you were standing, “Is here good?”
“It’s perfect.” You looked down at the tree sapling you were holding in your hand.
The wind was blowing around you. This really was the best place to build a home. A big field, up on a high cliff, with a view of the ocean. Your fiance was helping you plant a tree in what was supposed to become the garden. Minghao’s long hair was getting in his eyes while he shoveled up the dirt to plant the tree sapling, making you giggle. He looked up at you.
“You know we won’t be able to see the tree grow, right? Those take ages to get to their normal size,” he sighed.
“That means someone else can enjoy it in the future, darling,” you explained, “It is like we are leaving our mark on this place.”
“Anything you want, I suppose.” He smiled and kept digging. “Should this be deep enough?”
You hummed and placed the sapling in the hole, brushing your hands together to get rid of any dirt. Minghao shoveled the dirt in and patted on the ground. As soon as he put down the shovel and turned to you, you hugged him tightly.
“Imagine our house here,” you sighed, “Just the way we want it.”
Minghao pressed his lips to your temple, pressing a warm kiss on your cold skin. The base of the tree was thin and frail - but you knew that, with the right amount of love and care, you’d get it to a grand and beautiful size.
“I will see to it that you get the exact home that you want, love,” Minghao murmured.
“Hm? Even with a patio with lots of plants? Or a garden filled with lavender?” you asked with a beaming smile.
“Anything you want, darling.”
“I’ll give you a list then.”
The tree stood proud in that spot in front of where the house was supposed to be. You couldn’t be happier with your now husband standing right beside you in front of the place that you were going to call home.
Five hundred years later, the tree was still standing. Much larger and with ridges that showed its old age. Minghao’s hand grazed the rough bark of the tree. A sad smile appeared on his lips as he thought back to when the two of you planted this tree. The tree was dying, it was dry and had a grayish brown color instead of its past lively green bark. Time was disappearing like sand through his fingers, but he didn’t feel it. Unlike the tree, no signs of age could be seen on Minghao’s skin. He put his forehead against the wood. It was warm from the sun’s rays. Spring had finally come, and the buds on the branches were about to bloom. At this moment, it felt like only yesterday that he had planted this tree with you. He stepped away from the tree, the feeling of the rough texture lingered on his skin. He wasn’t sure why he ended up by the tree. It might have been the thought of you that led his subconscious to move his legs for him. He missed you, there was no denying that. However, even if you weren’t here with him right now, you would return soon.
The train rolled past beautiful scenery, ocean views and lavender fields. Your train cabin was cramped, but at least you were the only one in there. The small luggage you had brought along was tucked under your seat, except for a smaller backpack laying on the seat beside you. It contained anything you could need; tissues, a book, a phone with the notifications turned off, and your pain meds. So far the ride had been peaceful. It was quiet, the only sound being the clashing of the train tracks against the wheels. Outside you saw the most calming view you had laid eyes on in a while. Color flooded your senses; purple, green, and blue hues spotting the landscape right in front of your finger tips. You could picture how fresh the air was. The clear skies and slight wind blowing through the trees, and the white spots of seasalt clinging to the window, made you want to go outside to take a deep breath. This was exactly what you needed for your final vacation, a quaint village by the seaside with an utmost harmonic atmosphere. Houses were sparsely built in this area, but a bit further away you could see the village where you were going to stay.
The moment you stepped foot in the village, you could tell it was a tight-knit community. Everyone seemed to know everyone and tourism didn’t seem to be very common. Still, you were given a warm welcome. The hostel you were staying at had a nice older man running it. He showed you to your room - a small but cozy room with a low ceiling. It was good enough for you especially since the bed was comfy enough for you to fall asleep right away. In the morning, you set off immediately after breakfast. Your feet took you to the big lavender field and you were hit with a huge wave of the wonderful scent. There was a small path paved for you between two big fields of purple flowers. On top of the hill was a house - a white villa with a black roof. Beside it stood a big oak tree.
From where you were standing, you could see the outline of a man sitting on the porch. Everything felt so awfully familiar, a huge wave of deja vu hit you. It felt wrong to just go to some stranger’s house, but you told yourself it would be right to ask for directions - you were out in the middle of nowhere after all. When you got closer, you could see that the man was looking back at you - and you swore you saw him smiling.
“Hi! Sorry for intruding,” you said as you approached the porch, “I’m just a little lost.”
The man was slender with dark hair - there was something mysterious about him, specifically in his deep brown eyes. But he was calm, you might even describe him as peaceful.
“You’re not intruding.” His voice was smooth, and his emphasis on ‘you’ had you taken aback.
He got up from his seat and approached you with a warm look on his face.
“I’m just here on vacation, I’m living in the town across the fields,” you explained. “And I was going to go to the sea, but these flowers got my attention.”
“They’re pretty, aren’t they?” The man looked out across the fields.
“Lavender’s my favorite.” You nodded.
He gave you a knowing smile before silently inviting you to sit down with him. There were two cups on the table on the porch, and one pot of tea. You would never normally do this, but you accepted his kind gesture.
“My name’s Minghao,” he said and brought the cup to his lips.
“Y/N,” you answered and drank the lavender green tea.
“That’s a pretty name,” he said.
“Thank you.” You put down your cup and looked around you. “Do you live here by yourself?”
“Mostly.” He nodded, and you could tell that he wasn’t going to explain further.
You closed your eyes and took in the spring breeze. Everything was calm and peaceful. You thought about what a nice life you could live here. It was something you could see yourself doing something like this in another life. You felt Minghao’s eyes on you, and you turned your head to look at him.
“How long are you staying in town?” he asked.
“A few weeks.”
He nodded. Suddenly something sad appeared in his eyes, but it disappeared as fast as it got there. There was no doubt that there was a connection between you and this stranger - although it seemed insane. The two of you had only spoken a few words but it felt right. Just as right as it had been getting on the train over here, and just as right as it had been to walk down this path.
“Have you lived here for long?” you asked.
“Longer than you can imagine”
You gave him a weird look, which he responded with a soft chuckle. It felt restrained, his entire posture was restrained. There was more to this interaction than he let on, but you had no idea what it could mean.
“I think I should start heading back.” You stood up, “Thank you for the tea”
“Come by again sometime.”
“I will.” You nodded. “... is it alright if I pick some lavender?”
“It’s all yours,” he hummed.
Minghao gripped the armrests of the chair tightly as he watched you walk away. You bent down beside the path and picked up a few lavender flowers, turned back to the house, and waved before walking back.
He took a deep breath. This wasn’t the first time you had walked away from him.
Far from it.
You were the same as you always were -  sweet, curious, and just as he remembered you. Every single time he got to see you again, you were perfect. You had been from the start.
The first time Minghao had met you was five hundred years ago. It was a different town than where he lived now. There, the two of you lived far apart but close at heart. You were the child of the duke of the land; Minghao, nothing more than a physician’s apprentice. Despite getting proposals from people of high standings across the lands, your eyes never wavered from him. Minghao was the one you had set out to marry no matter who disagreed.
That’s exactly why you decided to run off together. Not much had been planned out, except that you’d try to steal two horses, or maybe even one, and that you’d do it during a night when the moon didn’t cast light upon your trail. The night when you followed through with your half-finished plan, it came to you unexpectedly. You ran off to Minghao’s cabin as soon as dusk came.
“Come on, get your things!” You shook Minghao awake.
“Your majesty-”
“We don’t have time for this, my love,” you interrupted. “No one’s around, this is our only chance. Get yourself ready, I’ll go get the horses.”
The two of you escaped into the night, planning on never stepping foot into the town again. You found a small village where you decided to stay. It was right by an open field, and close to the seashore. You immediately fell in love with this field, which is why the two of you decided to build a house there.
It was all you would work on, day in and day out you would sketch new ideas. You had picked a spot right in the middle of a big field. There was open ground, perfect to build upon, and a view over the sea. However, just a few years after getting married, you died.
A weak heart, was the only explanation he ever got - but there people just weren’t as knowledgeable back then. Minghao, a few moments before you passed, made a promise that he’d see you again, that his life would never be complete without you. He finished building the house you wanted, following every instruction you had written down, and planted a tree right next to it. Since he had already planted your favorite tree, he began planting lavender patches around it, they were your favorite, and every year he’d plant more.
Many years passed and Minghao never seemed to age, he didn’t feel it, and others noticed it. When his childhood friends started passing away while he still looked the same as all those years ago, he knew that something was wrong.
Minghao couldn’t die.
At first he didn’t understand, but then he saw you again. A visitor from a nearby town, who had no idea who he was. So he thought of it as a coincidence, maybe he was going mad. But then, a few decades later, it happened again. And again, and again, and again.
Every time it was different, but it was you - it was definitely you. Minghao learned to live with it at first. He’d move away a few years, come back just in time for you to visit, and it would keep going in an infinite loop.
Around the fifth time it had happened, he tried to tell you about all of your past lives. He somehow managed to convince you, but a week or so later you passed away suddenly. That’s how he found out he wasn’t allowed to tell you, but he also found out that his actions could change things - meaning that there had to be a way for you to stay. Finally, after all these years, he might know how.
Once you were back in the village, you were looking for a place to eat lunch. Your eyes fell upon a cheerful looking house with a small restaurant at the bottom floor. The old lady working there sat you down at a corner table and gave you some bread and water, leaving you some time to look at the menu. When she came back, and you placed your order, she asked you where you were from. You answered and she nodded with a smile.
“We don’t get many tourists here nowadays,” she explained. “It’s hard to not spot an unfamiliar face.”
“Well, this place is absolutely wonderful.” You smiled. “I’m surprised more people don’t come here… I mean, just the lavender field out there is enough of an attraction.”
“Oh, so you’ve been wandering around this morning, then?”
“Yes, I talked to the man who lives out in the middle of the field - Minghao I think it was,” you said.
“Oh, you’ve talked to Mr. Xu?” She sounded surprised. “We rarely see anything of him… he comes to the market a few times, but that’s about it. I’m surprised he’d talk to a stranger.”
You watched as she went to give your order to the chef, shocked to hear about him in this way. Minghao had been so friendly and didn’t seem like what the lady described him to be. After lunch, you walked around the market - at first just looking, but soon enough you were interviewing. You began talking to the townsfolk, asking them about the lavender fields and the house right in the middle of it. Everyone told the same story; the fields had always been there, so had the house, and no one could seem to remember when Xu Minghao moved into it.
Minghao was in his kitchen when he saw you walking back over the field, just a few days after the first visit. He quickly dried off his hands from washing a few fruits. With rushed steps, he made his way toward the front door. This was important, the second visit always was. His hand lingered on the door handle, but the thoughts were pushed away as soon as he pushed open the door. Light flooded into the dusty hallway, but he quickly closed it behind him. The sound of the door closing caught your attention. You were looking up at the crown of the tree, but now your attention was turned to him.
“Good morning,” he said.
“Good morning,” you answered, “Sorry for just dropping by.”
“You have nothing to apologize for.” He shrugged it off and approached you. “I enjoy a bit of company.”
You gave him a strange look, which he couldn’t decipher. However, it quickly faded and was replaced with a smile. You met him halfway, walking closer to the house.
“I was about to go on my morning walk,” Minghao lied. “Do you want to come along?”
It was a steep way down the hill towards the shore, but the two of you took it slow. You walked close behind him, watching each step you took. But the closer you got to the beach, the smaller the rocks were under your shoes - making it harder to walk. As if he somehow knew, Minghao held his hand out for you to take just as you were about to fall.
“It’s hard to walk here,” he hummed even though he was walking perfectly fine like he had walked there a million times before.
“Thank you,” you answered breathlessly, “I don’t have the right shoes for this.”
“You’re doing good,” he assured you with a smile.
His hand gripped yours a bit tighter, as he helped you over a more difficult part. Nevertheless, you weren’t doing so good. You thought back to your family and friends at home, to the letter you had left them. There had been no warning signs, from what you could imagine, and then you suddenly left them.
Suddenly, it’s like you were back there. You had received the news of the state of your health. A few months left to live, is what the sum of it was. It wasn’t something that you expected would ever happen to you. From that moment, you moved on with your life as normal - but the second you started feeling symptoms, you knew it was time to leave. You couldn’t stand seeing the worried faces of your loved ones while you slowly decayed. So, you wrote them each a letter and left - they explained your condition, and that you wouldn’t be returning. It hurt, but it was for the best. After this trip, you had decided to go to the hospital and spend your last days there. It wasn’t what you wanted, but you didn’t want anyone to see you in such a fragile state. Perhaps it was selfish, but you saw no other way.
The air was salty and warm like in a daze, but the cold breeze and the few droplets occasionally escaping from the ocean brought you back from your thoughts. You looked over at the man beside you. He was still holding your hand, still leading you across the safest path. A part of you wanted to ask Minghao a billion questions, but something kept you quiet - a single thought that you were mulling over in your head.
How was it possible that you seemed to know him?
No, you didn’t know his favorite color, or what kind of music he liked, but you remember his face from somewhere - like a distant memory. Minghao stopped walking, seemingly tired of the silence between you.
“This is my favorite spot,” he said.
He let go of your hand, and you immediately missed the warmth of his touch. Minghao looked at you. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocky shore filled your ears, and the noise seemed to drown out all thoughts. Nothing else but the depths of his eyes existed in this moment. He smiled, a dimple appearing on one of his cheeks.
“It’s beautiful,” you finally answered.
Your eyes never left his - it seemed impossible to do. His eyes had looked black before, but now, with the sun reflecting in them, they were a warm and inviting brown color. One of his hands reached out to your face. His thumb brushed against your cheek.
“Eyelash,” he murmured.
You smiled at him, silently thanking him. The sound of the waves echoed in your head, a slow rhythm building and merging with your heartbeat. Minghao’s hand lingered before he let it drop to his side again.
“Are you enjoying your time here?” he asked softly.
“It’s been calming,” you answered, “I finally feel at peace.”
Minghao’s eyebrows furrowed, as if there was something about you that he wasn’t expecting. However, as soon as the sound of another wave hitting the shore echoed toward you, his face readjusted to its normal state with a flinch. He was an enigma to you, a mystery you were unable to solve - a paradox.
“There’s something about you…” You stopped, unable to find any words that could accurately describe what you were feeling.
“Perhaps it’s infatuation,” he joked.
You let out a flustered laugh and looked out over the ocean, just to avoid his sharp eyes. It was a more bold comment than what you had heard from him before. As you’re about to go back on your word, to try to find the words you were searching for, you feel a sudden pain in your chest. It was a frequent symptom that you had gotten to know all too well recently. It’s sharp, starting in the middle of your chest before it spreads and eventually dulls. There’s nothing to do about it; it happens at random, and leaves too quickly for any pain meds to take effect - constantly numbing yourself wasn’t an option either. No, you saved your medication for more dire situations.
“It’s nothing.” You shake your head and bring your hand to your chest. “Should we head back?”
“Are you alright?” Minghao held his hands out, hovering around your body but not daring to touch you.
You can’t help but to look at him. Minghao is looking right at you, but his mind is somewhere else. A distant memory rumbles within him. He’s right next to you, but he’s mentally in another place. Despite your pain, you give him a small smile. You take one of his hands in yours, and you place your free hand on his shoulder. Minghao’s breath quickens, his eyes drifting away from you. Your hand leaves his shoulder to cup his cheek. He looks at you, and you smile at him again.
“Should we head back?” you asked again.
Minghao nods.
He watches you walk in front of him, his hand still in yours. However, as much as he tried, he couldn’t shake the gnagging feeling away. Seeing you just now, clearly in pain, put everything in perspective for him once again. You were dying, much like every other time you were here. There was always the slightly unsettling inkling that you had shorter and shorter time on earth each time you got reincarnated. He thought back to the first time you had died - how you had reached for your chest just like before, and how you had the same scrunched up facial expression. That time, you had collapsed - right in front of the tree the two of you had planted together. He wished he never had do see you like that again. Mindlessly follow you back home was all he could do now.
When you find yourself in front of Minghao’s house again, you also find that the pain in your chest has faded. It never lasted for long. A hand landed on your shoulder, and you turned to look directly into his eyes.
“Do you want to come inside? Maybe you should rest?” he asks, worry dripped from his words.
You wouldn’t mind staying with him for longer, and you were curious about how he lived. Playing up your pain felt wrong, but it also seemed like Minghao wanted you to stay for other reasons than your wellbeing. Moreover, when he, just a few seconds later, offered you a cup of tea, it was hard to say no.
Minghao’s home was exactly what you thought it’d be. Old trinkets, plants everywhere, and large windows that let lots of light in. He showed you into his kitchen, where he let you sit down by a dinner table, and he situated himself by the counter. The arcitecture of the house was old, but he had clearly renovated it to add a few modern details. As if he was afraid to leave the past behind, but found himself needing to adapt.
“So, what do you do in order to afford to own a place like this?” you asked.
“I’m a doctor.” Minghao speaks with his back to you, as he started the tea kettle.
“A doctor?” You look around the house, trying to find some sort of proof of his profession. “You’re not very busy for a doctor.”
“... I work privately,” he said.
Minghao takes out two mugs from the cupboard and walks up to you. You watch as he puts one mug in front of you and one mug in front of the chair opposite of yours. He doesn’t look at you, and goes back to the counter quite quickly. It wasn’t time for questions, you could feel it in every way he moved. Minghao was tense, and his movements almost robotic. He had done this routine a thousand times before, you could tell from the way he didn’t even have to look when he reached for the many tea leaves. He never asked you what you wanted, but you weren’t questioning it.
“So, are you going to tell me what happened on the beach?” he asked.
You thought that you could ask him the same question, but you decided to not voice this hypocrisy.
“Chronic pain,” you hummed, “It’s…”
You were going to say that it wasn’t serious, but it seemed as if Minghao could read your mind about these things. He hummed in response, setting down the tea kettle right in front of you before sitting down.
“It’s an illness,” you admit, “I won’t bore you about it… but I don’t have long left.”
It’s silent - you can hear a pin drop. Minghao picks up the kettle, and pours the tea in your mug. The sound of the water pouring is calming to you, his act makes you think that he’s understanding.
“There’s nothing you can do?” he asks.
“Nothing that I have heard of,” you said, “And I’ve gone through a lot of tests.”
“What about traditional methods?”
“Traditional?”
“I might have something for you,” he explained, “If it doesn’t cure you, it might just help your passing.”
You looked at him, skeptical at first but seeing his serious expression made you let go. At this point, you were willing to try anything.
“Come by tomorrow,” he said, “And I’ll have something prepared for you.”
You don’t know why, but you trust him without a doubt.
The very next day, you got worse. The pain in your chest was there when you woke up, but wouldn’t go away. You took your pain meds, which kept the pain at bay. However, you knew it was only temporary. You stayed in bed all day, only going out to the bathroom or to get food. The next day, you did the same. Then the day after that, and the day after that, until you had to ask the owner to bring your food to your room. Your body was betraying you, and you had no idea what to do. The thought of Minghao stays with you throughout this time. How you’ve failed him: you said you would be there, now you’ve left him alone for days. You wonder if he saw it coming, or if he was disappointed that you didn’t show.
By day five you decided you had to try to get to him. Your medication was running out, since you had taken more than you were recommended to, but it was enough to carry you through the journey. You left all of your things at the hostel, you couldn’t carry anything in this state, and snuck out without anyone seeing. The owner had grown attached to you, and had urged you to not go anywhere these past few days - so you didn’t want anyone to see you leave.
Minghao sits on the porch, where you had first seen him, when you arrive at the villa. You’re out of breath and limping, but it doesn’t stop you. His eyes widened when he first spotted you, and he hesitates before running toward you. You collapse in his arms, finally feelingn safe enough to relax.
“I didn’t forget you, I promise,” you whisper hoarsely.
“I didn’t think you would,” he hummed and soothingly started stroking your back. “Let’s get you inside.”
He lifts you up, and lets you prop yourself against his shoulder. You steady yourself on him, and limp in through the house. Instead of stopping in the kitchen, like you thought he would, he carried you into a different room. The room was brightly lit, due to the large windows, and was different from the rest of the house. This room didn’t have any modern touches, it was seemingly completely original. And untouched. Dust flew around the room, although nothing was dirty. The room was well taken cared of, but not frequently visited.
“Rest in here,” Minghao said.
He sat you down on the bed, then proceeded to remove the linens that covered it just enough for you to settle down under the duvet. When he helped you into the bed, he made sure to handle you carefully. His touch was gentle, and you swore that he barely even breathed.
“I’ll get your medicine.”
In the kitchen, Minghao hurried together his ingrediendts. Lemon, honey, jasmine flowers, sage, root of valeriana, and, most importantly, lavender grown from the fields outside. He got the potion from one of his old books - two different sleeping potions mixed together. Maybe, just maybe, with a little help of some of his other trinkets, he could save you. He ground the ingredients up together, making it into a paste before diluting it with water. Before bringing it to you, he needed to gather a few other things. An old locket, a branch from the tree outside, and a bouquet of lavender and other wild flowers he had found outside. Memories from your past lives. The tree and the lavender was vague enough for you to not question it, but the locket he had to act carefully with. Inside it was a picture of him and you, from your wedding ceremony. It had been a small affair, so no one could tell it was a wedding picture from just looking at it. But the picture alone was suspicious for you to see. Nevertheless, Minghao put everything on a tray and carried it in to your room.
You had fallen asleep when Minghao walked back into the room. He put the tray on the bedside table. The bouquet went in a glass and golden vase, and then he sat down next to you. To wake you, he put a hand on your shoulder and gently shook you. As soon as you opened your eyes, your eyebrows furrowed in pain.
“I’m sorry,” he winced.
“It’s okay,” you mumbled, “Do you have it?”
Minghao hummed and helped you sit up. Once you had done so, he put the cup in your hands but stopped you when you attempted to drink it. One of his hands covered the top of the cup, and he kept it there.
“I have to warn you. This is strong,” he said.
“I don’t care, I just want to get better,” you said in a cracked voice, “Any way possible.”
Minghao nodded, and reached for the locket. He looked at you, hesitating before putting it around your neck. You were about to ask, but he stopped you with one, serious look.
“You’ll be different when you wake up, Y/N.”
“Different is better than dead,” you said dryly.
You put the cup to your lips and turned it upside-down. Minghao took your cup when you finished and helped you lay back down. Pulling the covers up over your chest, he watched as sleep took over you and as you fell into your deep slumber.
Days passed and you hadn’t woken up. Minghao had put fresh flowers in the vase for you, and had put the tree branch in your hands, laying on your chest. You looked peaceful like this, not like you had when you came to him. Seeing you stumble towards the house, sweating and heaving, was more painful than having knowledge of all the times you had passed on - your suffering was forever carved into his memory.
The more time that passed, the more anxious he grew. Minghao stopped going into your room altogether. Maybe it was a mistake to try, maybe it wasn’t supposed to be this way - what if he was doomed for all eternity to watch you come and go, what if that was his destiny? Had he ruined it all? Would he never be able to see you smile again? His thoughts kept spiraling, and he didn’t know how to stop it. His routine was the only thing that kept him calm. Wake up, breakfast, morning walk, take care of the plants, eat, read, make tea, eat, sleep, repeat. Everything was done with the same robotic motions, it was the only thing to keep him from going completely insane with anxiety. Patience is a virtue, but it’s impossible to keep up when time had gone on for an eternity already. He was so close - if this could only work.
Once half a year had passed, he decided to check up on you. Despite his fears, you looked exactly the same. Dust had settled on your figure, but you were the exact same as before - peaceful, with your hands across your chest, and the locket around your neck. It must have worked. If you had died, then you would’ve decomposed by now. Then it was only a matter of time. Another winter alone, but the love and hope for you was enough to warm him.
You took a deep breath. Everything smelled of lavender. The corners of your mouth turned up, and you finally opened your eyes. The sun was bright, but the curtains dulled it’s glow. You sat up, looking at the twig in your hand. The tree. Yes, you remember. You remember planting it, and seeing it each time your life was renewed. You remembered everything. The cold locket against your bare skin made you aware of it’s presence of it around your neck. When you opened it you found your fondest memory - your wedding day. You looked around. Everything was just as the room you had designed for you and Minghao, all those hundred years ago. Minghao. You took off the duvet and put your feet on the ground. It was cold, and when you got up to walk it felt unusual, like you hadn’t walked in ages. As you stumbled your way to the door, the only thought in your mind was the one of him. You would finally see him again, remember him again.
When you got to the porch, you had to sit down. Everything was just the way you wanted it to be, the exact way you had planned it. Minghao had done well with your instructions. You sat down in one of the chairs on the porch. The tree had grown big - and he said you would never see it grow. Life found it’s way. What intrigued you the most was the lavender fields. Sure, you had asked Minghao for some lavender in your garden, it was your favorite flower after all, but you never imagined he would take it this far. As you looked over the fields, you saw someone coming towards the house in the distance. A tall man, with black hair, and a graceful walk. Though you couldn’t walk far, you stappled toward the railing and steadied yourself against it.
“Minghao!”, you shouted and waved one of your arms.
The man noticed you. At first he stopped walking, but then he began running. You stumbled down the stairs, and tried to close the distance between you even faster. The two of you collided, and he engufled you in his embrace. You lost your balance, and both of you fell to your knees.
“My love, you’re alive.” Minghao’s voice was cracked with tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
“I’m alive,” you sniffled, “I’m alive, and I remember it all - everything you have done for me. Thank you.”
Minghao released you slightly from his embrace, before bringing his lips to yours. Kissing you for the first time in ages felt like heaven on earth. He never wanted this moment to end, and neither did you. For the first time in over a centennial, you could fulfill a life together.
