Iβve recently been on a huge Phantom of the Opera kick and with that comes my life long love of Meg Giry. Ever since I was little I always wanted to be Meg, not Christine. I would notice how she would walk with her feet turned out (due to her pointe shoes) and mimic it for days after seeing the show. I also tried to teach myself to do pirouettes at one point but failed π β
I was drawn to what a supportive friend Meg us throughout the show, plus her insatiable curiosity towards the entire situation. I always found it intriguing that the show ends on Meg holding up the mask, so I knew I had to recreate that moment!
A crossover of two of my favorite βholidayβ shows, Phantom of the Opera and The Nutcracker! Growing up I had this Phantom nutcracker that I loved and he is entirely what inspired me to do this look. I tried to put together an outfit that felt reminiscent of typical Clara costumes but also called back to Christineβs dressing gown (mostly in the ruffles at the neckline). Similarly with the background edit, I wanted something that felt like a combination of the two worlds. I started off with a picture of a nutcracker party scene set, then add the candelabras, monkey music box, and traded out the floor to the glossy reflective stage from Phantom!
