The "redhead connection" always gave me a chuckle because it's not exactly a compliment to Sansa or Ygritte. It's just reducing a love interest to a preference for a physical characteristic, which is pretty shallow, IMO. With all the canon ships, GRRM takes great care in showing two people with shared core values even if they challenge each other with seemingly opposite worldviews. They complement each other and help each other grow and change. Physical attraction arises from empathy/intimacy.
Oh, absolutely. And while we’re on the subject of Ygritte, it does kind of bother me how little she’s talked about, and how she’s just reduced to “Jon’s first girlfriend”. She is the person who affected his story and arc the most, and she has a lasting impact on him. He thinks of her constantly throughout ADWD, and I don’t think there’s a chapter out of those 13 Jon chapters where he doesn’t mention her in some way. He dreams about her, thinks of her whenever he walks by the spot where she died in his arms, hears her voice in her head, hallucinates/has a vision of her, and even talks to her:
There were nights when Jon Snow wondered if he had not made a grievous mistake by preventing Stannis from marching all the wildlings off to be slaughtered. I know nothing, Ygritte, he thought, and perhaps I never will. (Jon VII, ADWD)
To the free folk that counted about as much as being descended from Raymun Redbeard's horse. They know nothing, Ygritte. And worse, they will not learn. (Jon XIII, ADWD)
It annoys me how her importance in the story gets ignored. It’s like the shippers don’t want to acknowledge that this is the girl who’s had the most weight in Jon’s story, and will probably always remain so. It also just goes to show how little they care about the actual character of Jon, and really only see him as a love interest pawn they can plug in wherever they like.

Man, fuck these terf idiots. Preaching their defense of women and "women's rights" by upholding patriarchal gender norms and limitations. Yeah, we see you. Attacking and excluding one of the most marginalized oppressed groups isn't doing shit to protect cis women. Its just feeding someone else to the wolves instead.
THANK YOU
THANK YOU

What is your favorite and least favorite part of the writing process?
Oh WOWWY!!! Thank you so much for this ask, sweet Blue! This is such a great question!
My favorite part is making the intangible tangible. My stories are really movies in my head and I’m left just trying to describe this epic film that plays on repeat in the quiet moments of my life. The times where I write a scene and realize, “That’s it. That’s a part of my mental movie and now someone else can enjoy it too; see what I see and feel what I feel,” it’s magical. Writing is cathartic for me in that way so it feels like a release.
My least favorite part of writing is editing. Writing is easy. It’s the equivalent of someone dropping off a giant block of marble to a sculptor. The first pass is getting the approximate shape. To me, that’s writing—getting the “shape” of the narrative down. There’s room for error, it doesn’t have to be pretty or perfect. It just needs to exist.
Editing is every. single. painstaking pass that’s meant to turn this hunk of narrative marble into something pretty—the attention to detail, the agony of every word choice, the interplay of characterization and theme and all those bits that add depth and dimension. I hate it when I’m elbow deep in it, pouring in blood, sweat, and tears, lovingly carving it to be what I want it to be.
But, when I step back, and see the fruits of my effort, and I think, “Woah! I made that. And here it is,” I fall in love again and it makes it worth it. It really is a labor of love. I’m so grateful for it.
What about you? And others?

What's funny/not funny is that a soulless corporation like Disney probably would have cashed in even bigger by going all the way with the big fairytale optimistic ending. You'd have even bigger ticket sales with returning audiences because of the rewatchability. With that comes more merchandise sales, theme park ticket sales to continue the experience, etc. With that level of zeal for the brand, it would be raining money for years! Still plenty of room for spinoffs. They fucked themselves.
Imagine an ending with a redeemed Ben Solo, the last of the Skywalker line, settling down on some lush, green planet with Rey Nobody to presumably propagate a whole new generation of Jedi and Force-users, who continue the bloodline without having to continue the name. If they wanted to end the Saga on a feeling of hope and possibility, it doesn’t get more hit-the-bullseye than that. But nah, Rey will just be a virginal loner the rest of her life, thereby rendering her Palpatine bloodline and adoption of the Skywalker name meaningless anyway...

Just found some new drugstore make up that I highly recommend. Maybelline Hypereasy liquid pen liner with an actual brush tip, not felt. No skipping on textured lids, super black, and did not move all day. Good dupe for KVD. Maybelline Cheek Heat cream blush in Nude Burn. Tapped on easily and looks like skin with a natural flush. WnW HelloHalo Blushlighter in After Sex Glow. Looks like a far more expensive product. Very glowy and flattering even on textured skin. (1/2)
(2/2) Paired nicely with the cream blush. The highlighter part is slightly more reflective than their usual highlighters, but its definitely pearlescent, not glittery or metallic. Worked out great for every day or more red carpet glam. 10/10 on these. Just thought you'd like to know, fellow make-up enthusiast ;)
You are so thoughtful, thank you so much for sharing!!! I LOVE brush tip liquid liners and Maybelline has had good liquid liners in the past. Wow! I was actually looking for a new liquid liner because I’m almost out of my Stila Stay All Day (which is a felt tip) and my NYX brush tip. I’ll have to pick it up next time I see it at the store! I also really need a single highlighter, omg. Wow and for textured skin too, that is what I NEED! WnW is really amazing sometimes. (Reminds me I also have to pick up another WnW bronzer...thank you again for that rec a while back!) That sounds like a perfect highlighter, exactly the vibe I like. Thank you again I was so happy to see these messages!! :’)

Mashallah!
Ive heard mixed reviews of the pyramids. What are your thoughts?
I actually appreciated them a lot! It was indeed rather quiet; not many tourists at all, so peaceful and calm rather than one of those hectic, bustling and intense touristy experiences in popular places.
I mean, basically they were big piles of rocks, so as such not as impressive than for example Taj Mahal with its breathtaking beauty - but the sense of history was powerful. The new museum near the pyramids was not yet open (apparently opens in October), so the museum was still the old one and a bit weary one. It was so bizarre to have all these priceless ancient artefacts in an environment that already started to look a bit run-down and transient (in preparation for the move?)!
So yes, it was good...at least for me...

You can not possibly expect me to believe that the man that once sliced Beric in half, then later became brothers in arms with; the man who once smacked Ayra across the face, then gently cradled her head -the man that once said he'd fuck Sansa bloody, then looked at her with a world of sorrow and apology in his eyes; the man who once was the Hound, but was at last called Sandor - you CAN NOT tell me that man deserved what was given to him in the end.

Anyway, Jon’s plan was dumb from the very start...
I’m really not sure what the strategy was except for use Bran in the godswood to lure out the NK. If so, why send out the Dothraki screamers like that? That seemed like a total waste of cavalry. I’m not an expert, but you’d think they’d stress archers and range weapons. The last thing you want is needless casualties to grow the aotd.
IMO, attacking the undead or even going out of the walls of Winterfell, in general, was a very weird decision. Like, what was the point of the Dothraki charge in the first place? Aside from the fact that writers stopped caring about Dothraki characters in season 2 and just wanted to get rid of them really fast, I mean? What was the point of attacking the enemy that has a literally infinite amount of soldiers? When Stannis attacked King’s Landing, Tyrion didn’t send all his forces towards him at once, he was getting ready for the siege and found a way to destroy the big chunk of the opposite army without risking the lives of his own soldiers. And Stannis wasn’t the embodiment of the Death itself.
IDK, I liked the episode esthetically and as the collection of character studies, but the motivation for all this happening in the first place felt really unimpressive.

11 bloggers / 11 questions
Rules:  Ask 11 bloggers 11 questions.
I was tagged by the lovely @thebluelemontree: thank you!
1.  Is there anything really popular that you wish you could get into but every time you try you just can’t?
It’s silly but it happens to me all the time: if something is popular there are chances that I won’t be able to enjoy it. In middle school I disliked dolphins and Patrick Bruel’s songs (a famous French singer ) because both were super popular and I haven’t really changed since then. I still roll my eyes when I see pictures of dolphins...
2.  Have you ever told off a boss then walked off a job?
Never. I had a rather strict education regarding the way you talk to people who represent authority. Besides, I would be scared stiff by the consequences (like, being broke).
3.  You just received a gift certificate for a spa day.  What service do you pick?  A hot stone massage with aromatherapy, a luxurious facial, or a fancy mani-pedi?
The three options sound awesome, but I crave a massage.
4.  Do you have a bad habit or quirk that you know is bad, but you are pretty okay with it?
I don’t think of some habit in particular but if it’s a bad habit, I’m certainly ashamed of it!
5.  Would you rather be really good at particular dance style or a martial art?  Which one?
I think I’d rather be really good at a dance style. Which one? It’s hard to choose. Maybe ballet, because it’s so difficult to master.
6.  Is there any scent (cologne, perfume, etc.) on a man or woman that you find makes them seem more instantly attractive?
There’s probably one or several scents I find really attractive on a man but I would be unable to name them or to describe them.
7.  Have you ever read a book so bad you could not finish it?
It happens maybe once in a year but it doesn’t mean the book was bad, just that nothing happened when I read it. I usually end up frustrated and ashamed because it was supposed to be great and I can’t enjoy it.
8.   If you’re a guest at someone’s house and they served something you absolutely hated for dinner, would you eat it anyway to be polite or would you say something?  If the latter, how would you handle it?
I will do my damnedest to eat whatever my host cooked. Lucky for me, the type of food I hate isn’t very popular: most people don’t cook offal when they’re having guests...
9.  Have you ever been involved in saving someone’s life or averting serious harm from coming to them?
Sorry to disappoint you, I’m not the heroic type.
10.  You have the opportunity to take a master class with anyone you want.  Who do you want for your instructor and what do you want them to teach you?
It’s really difficult to answer because learning new things is one of the things I like most and there are lots of subjects I’d like to study. First thing that comes to mind is a master class about film noir - not to direct anything, just to learn about it. As for my instructor, I have no precise idea.
11.  What’s one thing about a fandom you are part of that you would change to make it better?
I’m not good at changing things. When something in the fandom upsets me, and it happens sometimes, I just sidestep and stay away for a while. That’s why I don’t post on tumblr on a regular basis.
This meme has been going around for a few days and I’m afraid I’m not able to create interesting questions. @thebluelemontree‘s questions are great though so if you’re interested, give them a try!

Imagine calling yourself a feminist and feeling zero compassion or outrage when cis, straight men regularly get away with beating up and murdering transwomen. Who are women those men may have cat called, sexually harassed, assaulted, or may have been intimate involved with before other people found out they were with a transwoman. You know. The basically same shit cis women have dealt with from the same type of men. That's who they are siding with. But I'm supposed to fear a trans person? Lol
^^^
but I mean imagine calling yourself a feminist, making your entire politics all about hating men in the first place which means policing what other women like in bed/like to date, saying that kink is antifeminist as a general rule, policing what makes womanhood™ which 99% of the time translates into assuming that any woman who doesn’t look extremely feminine is not a woman *and* putting being pregnant as a major component of what MAKES YOU FEMININE therefore excluding also sterile cis women from the narrative and women who don’t want children because HOW DARE YOU NOT WANT TO BE A MOTHER AND EMBRACE YOUR FEMALE-NESS THAT NATURE GAVE YOU (which is 100% not a thing said to reduce women as basically childbearing machines by patriarchal societies l m a o), deciding that you can choose who you are attracted to therefore giving credit to conversion therapy nonsense and shitting on each single fucking category in existence that’s not the ablebodied mostly rich mostly attractive not sterile and not kinky ciswomen you represent and still presuming that you give a fuck about women’s rights or anyone’s rights because honestly............. that’s rich

So what happened with the bird's nest situation?
BLUE LEMONS! Hello! Thank you so much for asking :)
I’m happy to report that the birds are officially evicted from my dryer vent in the great Raptor Rapture of 2020. After calling about a dozen different companies, I finally found one that had a ladder tall enough to reach my vent (I’m on the fourth floor, vent is near the roof).
Apparently, there was a HUGE nest in there and lots of lint so it basically went like this…
Tumblr media
I’ll pass on what I learned about dryer vent covers too for any homeowners or dryer vent enthusiasts!
I bought one of these bird guards, but the company wouldn’t install it because they’re a fire code violation for vents over a certain height because they get easily clogged with lint and have to be cleaned regularly so unless your dryer vent is easily accessible, they’re not recommended.
Tumblr media
The company I used recommended and installed this type. It’s magnetic so it’ll vent when the dryer is on, but is held shut with a magnet when the dryer is off so those pesky birds can’t get in!
Tumblr media
Thanks so much for asking :) I’m just happy I was able to get it done!

thebluelemontree replied to your post: So apparently China refuses to show TROS in...
Yeah, I was thinking JJ’s LGTBQ+ “representation” was done that way so it can be easily edited out to make money in Russia and China, while trying to appear progressive in the west. It was insulting and fooled no one.
If he ACTUALLY wanted LGBT representation, it was already RIGHT THERE with Poe and Finn but naaahhhhh let's show a random lesbian couple whose names we don't even know kiss for 2 seconds and pat ourselves on the back for being so "progressive"...
