Após Alice estrear de forma solo, foi a hora da Moon Yoon e Jisook serem as estrelas e trabalharem em um projeto alternativo. THEIA é a primeira – e única, até o momento – subunidade do grupo RAVEN. Algumas vezes, esses projetos funcionam de forma diferente do que era apresentado no grupo, seja o conceito, o tema ou até mesmo na sonoridade. Então, será que o Giant Impact tem uma perspectiva diferente ou similar aos projetos do grupo que o deriva?

Com uma introdução de um minuto e poucos segundos – “Crimson Eclipse” –, o projeto começa de verdade com a faixa-título “Collision”. A canção mistura o EDM com alguns elementos darks, sendo algo que o RAVEN realmente poderia fazer em sua carreira. A sua composição continua com sinônimos de trevas, devastação, destruição e tudo de ruim que pode acontecer na sua vida, mas diante disso, não é uma faixa ruim. 

A faixa-título é engolida – sem nenhuma dó – por “Nemesis”. A b-side entrega uma melhor sinergia entre as membros, também sendo divertida e dançante. O uso dos instrumentais eletrônicos é ótimo e, apesar de soar similar a faixa anterior, ela tem um certo diferencial.

E então, finalizando o disco, temos duas canções solos. A primeira é “Moonlight”, uma canção agitada e que tem uma coesão com o resto das outras faixas. E a última é “One Last Time”, uma ballad que, apesar de ser de um gênero totalmente diferente do disco, ainda consegue manter um seguimento que é um ponto ótimo.

Isso não é obrigatório, mas é sempre uma boa coisa quando podemos ver diferentes faces de integrantes em projetos como units e lançamentos solos. Infelizmente, o “Giant Impact” não foge da linha. Isso também pode ser um ponto positivo, caso formos analisar que há uma sequência na identidade. 

Apontaria que é um pouco decepcionante todas as composições do RAVEN – única coisa que se diferenciou até o momento foi “Fly Up”, da Alice – são sempre com a mesma temática. Será que não está na hora de dar uma pausa, nem que seja só um pouquinho, de tanta morte, crânio, sangue e fim do mundo? O RAVEN é um grupo talentoso e já se mostraram versáteis em alguns momentos em sua discografia, então por que não colocar isso em jogo? 

“Giant Impact”, em seu total, é um álbum proveitoso, tendo pontos fortes e fracos já apontados. O THEIA, em sua estreia, lamentavelmente ficará na sombra do grupo completo por um bom tempo – assim como a Moon Yoon ficou na sombra da Jisook durante o álbum todo –.
