Happy Valen Teens Day

Some Western holidays Ororo found entertaining, like Halloween or Christmas. However, Valentine’s Day was not one of them. It easily made other feel excluded, unwanted and all for the sake of florists, candy and greeting card companies to make a profit during the offseason. 

With her back turned to Namor, Ororo peered down with disdain to the advert in in a magazine showcasing chocolate covered strawberries. But her scowl quickly turned upwards into a wide grin as he placed necklace around her swanlike neck.

 Eyes aglow Ororo beamed, “Bright lady, Namor this is beautiful!”

The combination of gold and blue reminded Ororo of flecks of bright rays of the sun breaking through the deep ocean’s waves. Spinning around so she may face him Ororo pressed a sweet, lingering kiss against Namor’s sculpted lips-still smiling. Once she pulled away she gazed tenderly into his emerald eyes and gently pressed a hand to his cheek. 

“Happy Valentine’s Day, my love.”

“ It’s meant to be a symbol. ”  Steve replies with the calm that comes with having heard it plenty of times before. He’s unbothered by Namor’s dislike for the suit, and instead quirks a brow over at his teammate. Namor wouldn’t be the first to complain about his suit … Steve’s heard plenty remarks and comments, from fellow soldiers and the Axis alike, about how gaudy his suit looked, how much of a target it made him. No armor, bright glaring colors, and a star painted on his back for guns to aim at. Steve knew all this. He knew the dangers – he’d grown used to the eye-rolls and the disdain. He’d yet to really prove himself, after all. Captain America was still new — the Invaders in their early days yet. People had their reasons to doubt, their reasons to dislike the fact that instead of camouflaging himself, he was announcing himself to the world.

But that was the point, wasn’t it? To announce himself to the world. To show the world that he was here, he existed, and he was going to fight, regardless of how many people saw him, how many bullets whizzed past his head or how many Panzers attempted to crush him beneath their metal links. It made him a target so that others could slip by, so that the fire was focused on him and not his men. Maybe it was ridiculous … but it stood for something. 

After a moment, he quirks a smile at Namor, one corner of his mouth higher than the other.  “ Guess you’ll have to get used to saying it, then. ”  The other man didn’t really have much room to talk either, after all —- though Steve made sure not to mention that part.  “ But if you really hate it that much, there’s one way of getting this suit off me … It’s called winning the war. So I guess we’ll just have to do that part faster. ”

The problem at hand had started in the usual fashion. Some troublesome humans, acting without common sense, had cause offence to the sovereign of the briny depths by taking the lives of several atlanteans. When Namor had caught wind of this grievous development and tried to retaliate, the Avengers had appeared to thwart his efforts, de-escalating matters as a team, just as they had always done so since time immemorial.     But that had been a few days ago. And this day, returning to those same inky depths came the thunderer, alone. Motivated by a harsh taste that had been left in his mouth following recent events, it was Thor’s intention to work out the crinkles that now existed in the Avenger’s relationship with the submariner, but knew well that such wasn’t going to be an easy task.    For that reason alone, he has travelled here with a golden mjolnir held firmly in grasp, one of dozens of weapons that stood primed to fly to his grasp should he have need of them -- even down here, where he was so many leagues under the sea.

“Namor! Show yourself -- I would have words with thee.”

I was watching that new Black Panther cartoon and they straight up gave Namor’s beef with T’Challa to Attuma. Like, i can’t get past that.

Ororo’s smile widens before she reaches for a cake carving knife and slices into it. Cutting out a wedge Ororo presented the large chunk of chocolate cake topped with strawberry frosting and a confetti of sprinkles. So much for that ‘small slice’. She slid the plate and fork before him.
