Haikyuu Book Club - Week 2: 298-302
1. tsukki <3
can we please talk about tsukishima??? first of all his blocking skills - i will never not be amazed by how good he's gotten. he didn't like gym 4 at first but he still thinks about the advice kuroo gave him during every match. and it actually works. his blocks are incredible. look at him!!!
Tumblr media
and we already saw him having that moment in a game where he realized volleyball is fun but now we finally have him admitting it - to kuroo who kept bugging him about volleyball being "just a club" to him.
Tumblr media
also him and yamaguchi over the years made my heart swell
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the evolution of their friendship <333
2. lev
i love his dynamic with yaku. yes, i think they're a fun ship, but even outside of that - i think it's great how yaku can understand lev's way of thinking and knows how to effectively communicate with him (whereas shibayama's words didn't make any sense to him)
Tumblr media
also lev actually thinking about where he's aiming his serve (and succeeding!!) is so impressive! he literally just started playing volleyball and his skills are still... not that great, but he's trying so hard!! and he's so excited when kenma notices and compliments him !!
Tumblr media
3. kenma
my beloved!!! i actually don't have much to say about him but my brain just goes "<333 !!! :3" at every panel of kenma
this page was my favorite this week:
Tumblr media
(bonus: everyone being surprised at him moving)
Tumblr media
4. tendou
he's a very fun character and i adore him (i missed him). i'm glad that we're finally getting his commentary! he's so excitable - daishou and akaashi are rather calm and quietly analyze the game, and while akane and the karasuno alumni do get excited, their energy is entirely different from tendou's.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. hinata
look at him trying to figure out where best to aim his spike - he doesn't succeed, but that's not what's most important here. just the fact that he's able to be so calm and really think.
Tumblr media
6. this photographer just being shocked at yamamoto's receive

Haikyuu S4 Ep15
SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK
I never really make posts of my own, but I really just need to get all my thoughts down and out there sooooo ta daa!
This is just my opinion on some things and I need people to know I LOVE HAIKYUU and this is in no way supposed to be hateful towards it.
I saw a post about how this episode involved so many things that could’ve been the main plot of the one episode, and that got me thinking. When I first watched the episode, I was happy to see moments animated, but it wasn’t until I saw that post that I realized why.
The moments they talked about were the Yamaguchi panic with Shimada saving him, Tsukki stopping the twin’s freak quick, and Hinata realizing what type of block he hated the most (Mattsun from Seijou) and using that to stop Osamu.
And while I don’t remember a lot about the manga cause it’s been a while since I read it, that really struck a chord with me, so I went back to re-read it.
Episode 15 takes place from about chapter 253 to about chapter 260 and that just doesn’t sit well with me. That’s 6-7 chapters all rolled into one episode. For context, episode 14 was about chapter 250 to 253, so there’s a significant amount more added to episode 15. Also 253-260 has so much happening because it’s the first set coming to a close, yet they put so much into one episode and didn’t let anything settle before jumping into the next major plot point.
I will talk about what I mentioned above from the other post, but I’m also gonna talk about moments in the manga that I wish were addressed in the anime.
First being Asahi’s serving. I distinctly remember him talking about percentages of power into his serves but when I re-watched seasons 1-3 it was mentioned so now I’m confused. ANYWAY serving has always been a pretty big thing with Asahi, in that he has a hard time controlling it and has been working on it since the Summer training camp. So the flashback to him talking to Ukai about clenching his fist then relaxing it to THEN get the FIRST SERVICE ACE for Karasuno is so big to me. Also the amount of detail that Furudate sensei put into the two frames of Asahi’s hand makes me believe that there should be more to it.
Now the first point of the other post that comes up chronologically is Tsukki blocking out the twins. At first I wasn’t sure about considering that moment to be a sort of climax or main element of the episode, but considering it’s the last moment of chapter 255, it does have some oomph as a sort of ending note. The episode does mention that those who get used to the freak quick can stop it easier, and Tsukku being an incredible smart and talented blocker who has been near the quick since literal day one and has seen it develop over time shows how Inarizaki’s “counter attack” won’t work against him.
Now this isn’t really anything to get too upset about, but throughout the match, schools from Miyagi are watching and leave little bits of commentary and I really wish they kept that in, I know they have the ending dedicated to everyone watching, but I really like the little tidbits of comments and I think it would’ve been fun to have in the episode(s).
Now, when it comes to Hinata’s blocking, this becomes important because leading up to figuring out what type of block is the scariest, he continuously fails to block out Osamu after his first surprise commit block. Lots of people make comments on the experience level difference between the two and how Hinata lacks technique and he really only has his speed and jumping ability at this point. What leads to Hinata actually thinking about blocks though is Atsumu yelling at Osamu about being afraid/not afraid of Hinata. Hinata then obviously thinks of Aone and Date Tech, but then thinks more about one-on-one blocking. AND WHAT LEADS HIM TO REALIZE THE BEST WAY TO FIGHT OSAMU IS TO THINK ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCES. FULL CIRCLE! When the manga shows Hinata’s block it even cuts to Kindaichi’s look of surprise because it’s a subtle thing, but he recognizes Hinata’s block. I will give the anime that though, the manga never shows or mentions Mattsun, so getting that visual (and that cute little train scene) was nice.
Also something I just remembered, there were these two people (couple?) that was watching the game that had little commentary that are not in the anime, and while I don’t really mind, it could’ve been used in order to hold the episode out longer so that they didn’t force so much into one episode cause damn so much happened in one episode.
NOW ONE OF THE BIGGEST MOMENTS IN MY OPINION THAT WAS QUICKLY GLOSSED OVER. Yamaguchi’s serve and Shimada’s rescue. Yamaguchi’s in for a pinch serve! He looks for his “reset point” but can’t find it! Then suddenly after like 2 seconds Shimada is where Yamaguchi is looking and saves the day!? LAME. Yamaguchi is supposed to be confident after finding something to settle his nerves, but when you take that away, he starts to fall apart. He slowly starts to panic, but it’s enough that his team and Shimada take notice. So Shimada, wanting what’s best for his student cause he cares so much, rushes across the huge stadium to a place Yamaguchi can see him. And as much as Yamaguchi tries to calm himself and pick a new “reset point” all of the booing and jeers and eyes of the opponents get to him. BUT! through all the booing, Shimada’s cry of “TADASHIII” is still heard and you can see him sweaty and gross holding up a Shimada mart bag, like the original “reset point” he taught Yamaguchi so long ago. Yamaguchi is able to zero in on that and score Karasuno’s SECOND SERVICE ACE off of Aran INARIZAKI’S ACE! AND NOW TAKES THE LEAD POINT WISE! And after getting that point, there’s just a resurgence of energy in Karasuno. Yamaguchi goes in for his second serve and the episode ends, which is interesting cause it’s towards the end of chapter 260, but there was more to the manga chapter than in the episode. but whatever.
NOTE* Also while in the middle of writing all of this I realized that some of what I talked about is actually apart of the narrative of episode 14 (Asahi’s serve [I think]), but either way, I’m keeping that in this.
After all that, it kinda makes me worried about the speed in which the rest of the season will go. I’ve been trying to figure out how many episodes Season 4 will have in total, because although seasons 1 and 2 have 25 episodes each, season 3 only had 10 to focus on Shiratorizawa.
So much happens during nationals, but at this rate who knows what all the season is gonna try to get through.
I still love season 4 so far, and I can’t wait to see certain things animated, but that worry still lingers.
I’ve rambled for a very long time, and I can’t think of anything more to add right now, so if you actually read this, thanks? and sorry lol but I just needed to write this and see if anyone thought the same as me.

My “WIPs”
Thanks @sugaandyams. I don't get tagged too often, so thank you!
“The Rules: Post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.”
Oh my goodness. I had stuffed saved in all different places. I’ll start with the folders that contained fics that are incomplete. Welp, here I go!
Great Galactic War - this folder is the dump for my Haikyuu space/war AU, one of three or four fics I may focus on writing in the near future (first chapter is already published); the folder has very little atm, but I have about two dozen different scenes on my phone that aren't saved on PC
Kenma Project - the dump for my actively ongoing Haikyuu next gen captain war AU. I have a file in here further titled Ennoshita chapter. I wonder what that’s about? ;)
Three Kings - the dump for my Haikyuu samurai AU starring Hinata and Noya, the second possible fic I may commit to writing (first 2 chapters already published); there’s a chapter outline (which is dated because I’ve updated it in my head so much), and there are notes and many chapter tidbits on my phone too
Vice - the dump for a canonverse Haikyuu fic that was borne from a desire to write more Nekoma, so I subjected them to debilitating angst. There’s a rough chapter outline in here, and there are a couple of chapter drafts saved as emails on my phone. It’s the third fic that I might commit my time to (first 2 chapters, starring poor Inuoka, already published)
March of Justice - this folder was the dump for my aborted One Piece/My Hero Academia crossover, in which a couple of One Piece villains travel to the BnHA universe to conquer it
And here’s the rest I found. Some of these are just notes on fanciful ideas I had for a day and then never revisited. Others were never intended to see the light of day whatsoever
Abe dake ga Inai Machi - Oofuri-Erased - oh goodness. I had to stare at that title for a while to figure out what was wrong with it. An Oofuri/Big Windup fanfic that I didn’t play with for very long, but I was surprised to find I actually wrote the first chapter. Like Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (Erased), there’s a murder and then Abe finds himself transported back to the start of the Oofuri series, 10 months earlier. I reread some of this first chapter, and by my standards, it’s awful
Ace of Diamond - scandal fanfic - one of the ones never intended to see the light of day. It’s just notes. Basically Seidou pulls off its own Black Sox scandal and gets nailed, with some drama over whether Eijun is actually guilty
Ace of Iron / Ace of Swords - a Diamond no Ace samurai AU, mostly notes but also including drafts of a first chapter. It grew so huge there was no chance I could ever write it as a fanfic, so I actually converted it into an original story idea that I may do something with some day
Big Windup - cheating ploy disaster - this one is just notes and also never intended to see the light of day. An Oofuri idea in which Nishiura’s defeated rivals suspect them of cheating and kidnap the club boys to force them to confess. It goes even more downhill. (I’m very glad that, since discovering Haikyuu, I now conceive fanfics I actually want to write.)
Day of the Countercoup - I had to dig to find this one cos I knew it existed, but it wasn't a file. It was a tab in an Excel doc I used for my Haikyuu political AU, Coup d’Etat. It’s notes for an aborted sequel (Coup d’Etat’s original title was “Night of the Coup,” hence this contrasting title) that I scrapped soon after starting work on it. So glad too! Coup d’Etat got its due, and that AUverse shall be left to itself now
Haikyu - Gospel of Shouyou - oh goodness. I’m not gonna explain this one. Me experimenting, not intended to see the light of day
Haikyu - Nightmare from Heaven - this one may be the fourth candidate for continuation as a long-term fic but is currently unpublished. A war/occupation fic in which Miyagi Prefecture is conquered during a contemporary World War III, and the Karasuno boys must now live under foreign military occupation. The first chapter and part of the second were written, and I've got several notes on my phone and PC about subsequent chapters. Thank goodness tensions in that part of the world have simmered down since I devised it
Life Hereafter - Chapter 6.5 alternate ending - oh no. Life Hereafter is my darkest and most sensitive fic, published only on FFN, written to process a RL tragedy I was distantly affected by. I struggled with the ending of Chapter 6, which covered Tsukki and Yamaguchi’s coping with the canonverse tragedy. One draft (called “6.5″ in case I ever wanted to publish it, but I likely never will) featured Tsukki, seeking solace and desperately wanting to console Yamaguchi, giving in to poor judgment and kissing him. Only to then learn Yamaguchi doesn't have the same feelings back. Topping off their hurt with this was far too cruel and painful, and even before I started typing it, I knew I wouldn’t actually publish it. Rereading the draft even now made me feel uncomfortable which is why I kept it because it’s perhaps the best friendship-ruining moment I’ve ever written
Oofuri fanfic - Sakura Conspiracy - I thought I wrote a chapter 1 draft too, but this is an outline for a WWII Oofuri AU in which Nishiura, after winning Koshien in the late 20s or early 30s, moves on to military and political careers, one of their former teammates dies under suspicious circumstances, and Mihashi fears one of his old teammates may be responsible. The story stretches from 1937 to 1945
I'm actually surprised I found no notes on my Haikyuu mafia AU idea. I guess I never actually transcribed any, even though the plot is substantially complete in my head!
These four are all notes for gigantic crossovers:
Periods of World fanfic - This was an experiment, in which each century from 2000 BC to 2000 AD was listed out, a different part of the world selected for each century, and then a different anime or manga assigned to each part of the world. The idea was to write a chapter set in that century in that area starring those characters. The last chapter, for the new millennium, would have covered all parts of the world. The file is dated 2013. It never became more than this list
Periods of World fanfic 2 - and so it seems I tried again! This file is dated 2014 and shows just a teeny bit more dedication, with the 20th century further subdivided into decades, then every year from 2000-2009, and then every six months for 2010-2014. There are some different anime choices than the 2013 version. Never went anywhere with it, never gonna
Reborn epic crossover anime tribute layout - yes, that’s the literal filename. This is from my days as a Katekyo Hitman Reborn fan, and I don't even recognize most of the character names anymore. Apparently the villains of Reborn travel to seven other anime universes to kidnap major characters to sacrifice them as part of some weird magic scheme that I can’t properly decipher now
Random multi-anime WWII fanfic plan - yes, that’s also the literal filename. This is an outline for a 50-chapter crossover set before and during World War II, where the main characters of Naruto are Russian, One Piece are British, Bleach are French, Katekyo Hitman Reborn are German, Blue Exorcist are Italian, Fairy Tail are Japanese, and Ed and Al from FMA are American. The plot is emotionally devastating, doesn’t pull the punches on all sorts of WWII-related triggers, and frequently and cruelly denies catharsis.
To be perfectly honest though, rereading it, I swear this is the best story I have ever invented! It has a heartrending blend of tragedy, poignant poetic justice, subplot causality, and social commentary and contains few of the traps I sometimes fall into like cheap shock and subplots going nowhere. I really wish I could do something with this narrative now
And I’ll count the hefty handful of TV scripts I’ve written in an effort to practice and hone my scriptwriting skills. All but the last one of these are hypothetical new seasons of real anime:
Blue Exorcist s2 - 1 episode. My attempt to write the Impure King arc, years before they actually produced the Impure King arc. This was not my best work
Noragami: God’s Secret - 2 episodes for a manga-based Season 3. These were pretty decent imo
Oofuri/Big Windup: The Coming of Fall - 17 episodes. I got really into this one. A speculative season 3 assuming three cours (imo we probably won’t be blessed with that many episodes if season 3 comes), covering everything up until the end of the fall tournament. The first 13 episodes covered the story up to chapter 84 minus the Kasukabe match, followed by an OVA (ep 13.5), and then I was working on the Kasukabe match told in hindsight before planning to continue with the big game of the fall prelims. The third cour would have covered the fall tournament itself
Mekakucity Actors XX - 4 episodes. My own idea for a season 2/alternate ending. Because I was very conflicted with how the anime ended
School Babysitters - this was an original episode idea for Gakuen Babysitters that I enjoyed writing very much but turned out too long (40 pages) and features the babies turning into insects. I wouldn't mind publishing it somewhere actually!
I am going to tag @wire-pudding and @kemoiunder! Anyone else who reads this and wants to explore the abyss that is non-started WIPs, be my guest too!

Haikyuu Chapter 301, Brainy Kitten on the move (literally ;))!
So, quite unexpectedly for me, as I still quite impassive about this current Karasuno vs Nekoma game, which holds no much (it holds none at all) thrill for me given how it HAS to end, I felt not only pushed at doing a roll with the latest chapter, but I ended coloring its panels the most than I have so far for any other (red is my fav color after all... ;))
There’s this thing Furudate, with his insufferable crowd-pleasing tendency, has done here starting exactly from the COVER of the chapter which has sucked me into (regrettably, he has) and I ended making way more than I was supposed to.
Tumblr media
Then, as I sighed already for it, he started with THIS (these... but in the end THIS) fella and I broke loose...
Tumblr media
I ADORE Tendou Satori.
Properly ADORE.
He is one of the characters I adore most in Haikyuu, and you know already I am also weak to Goshiki... So I knew already from here I would have LOVED this chapter, and I gave in immediately to it I guess, open to what was ahead.
LOOK HOW ADORABLE HE ISSSSSSSSSSS *.* Everything off him is dear to me.
It’s unlikely for me to fall for not handsome characters but Tendou is so peculiar and adorable I cannot help it. *.*
Tumblr media
I also like how Goshiki (who resembles every day more a sibling of Lord Kageyama Almighty... he has the same cut of the eye, although he has no the same colors to it, and he has thicker eyebrows but in so many ways they are looking alike and then you know I am extremely weak to super talents, which Goshiki is so...) is so participant about the games... He is so cute ^.^
I have ALSO to say what it is being said during the Shiratorizawa boys’ commentary is a bit (as usual with Furudate) of a stretch, but more about this later.
Tumblr media
Lovely panel.
The Lord to Tsukki and Tanaka looming... THIS IS GOOD TO ME.
GOOD.
Tumblr media
Let’s start to talk about the game. There are two parallel ways to talk about it.
One, is to analyze what is HAPPENING... which is one thing to consider.
The other, which has to be done to, is to start to understand how (sadly already) Furudate seems to have gone with the route of insanely upgrade Nekoma WITH NO BASES to this kind of development.
He has to, because otherwise what Karasuno has become would be WAY too hard for Nekoma to face, but it still... quite fantasy-like to have suddenly a Nekoma THIS good already.
I’ll explain myself better as things go.
Here, please notice how AGAIN the path play of Nekoma is TO MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR THE LORD to set.
It’s a targeting of the setter which is a natural strategy against Karasuno, and which could be countered in TONS of ways tactically to be stopped, but ALL of these ways would imply a no inclusion of Boku No Hero Karasuno in the game itself and we know already Furudate can’t do it, even though it’d be the logic thing ANY coach would do (double setter set up, setter shifting, emphazising of the defense with the setter out... all of these would require to sacrifice the weakest and shorter hitter, who is also the one who defends worst, but when will ever Furudate do volley good with it? NEVER, we know it already...)
This I am writing concerns what the game is SHOWING right now. Nekoma is as usual very dedicated to defensive plays, and here there’s nothing new:
Tumblr media
I LOVE Bokuto... How can I express so much love... He is so wonderful and free... *.*
So, here we have ASAHI finally blossomed.
It is a believable thing, as Goshiki says, because that is a path which was traced past game(s) and it works with the capabilities Azumane has in his physique and skills.
I like the way Azumane is now, very much.
Tumblr media
Now as I explained also last time, it’s not like Nekoma is ONLY defense though.
By having a VERY, VERY skilled setter and as I wrote abundantly since ever, a FORMIDABLE hitter and ace in nuce LEV, Nekoma can have a wonderful attack too.
These panels are nothing surprising to me.
Brainy Kitty Kenma is a great setter, and of course as any setter would do, he is already playing in his mind what could happen later.
I always laugh when peole who clearly have no concept of volley and have never played it can get shocked at these reasoning Kenma does.
Flashnews... ANY setter HAS to be this way.
It’s part of the job.
Setters rule the court just because they have to do ALSO these reasonings, you scrubs.
And Kenma is a fine, fine, FINE player.
Tumblr media
Here it’s the panel which I LOVED as play goes.
Lev is a FERAL, AMAZING player.
People forget way too often, being all focused on the fictional of Hinata and his lame existence, how Lev was, as a temptative player just starting, able to hit a CC quick “by improvising it” along Kenma in teh first camp where Karasuno met him.
EVEN THE LORD got impressed by him.
This tells more than the rest about Lev’s skills.
Lev has ALL a hitter has to have, in the same capacity as the fictional midget as for athleticism and intuition, but... LOOK AT HIM.
Lev has also what a real ace HAS to have, which The Annoying Orange has not.
HEIGHT.
Which means REACH.
Which means WEIGHT.
Which means POWER.
Lev has it all.
And by having all this, the fact Lord Supreme of Volley CAN STILL SPIKE ON HIM is amazing.
As it’s expected by Lord Kageyama Almighty *.*
Tumblr media
Being Lev this imposing though, helps Nekoma in defending after the Lord’s spike.
It is an effort, but having Lev’s there TRULY is an invaluable plus.
Not only because he still can limit the other team’s attack... but also, OF COURSE, because once Kenma FINALLY does this...
Tumblr media
Lev will be able to do HIS thing, which is THIS AMAZING ONE action, which has gotten me water mouthed for its beauty and timing:
Tumblr media
To have a TRUE TALL HITTER is a bless my poor Lord won’t have, given how we have to stand a fictional midget in the pivot attack role.
Poor my Lord Kageyama, realizing “how high” Lev can spike.
While everyone is amazed at Kenma, people of course have forgotten the way teh attack was made by Lev.
Naturally so, if all those brainless ones are also coincidentally believing anyone like Hinata could survive on a court among taller players.
SIGH.
Anyway...
It’s not like I was not in love with Kenma’s move.
I waited YEARS to see that *.* and then THANX TO IT, I got this page, which goes straight into my personal list of best pages ever in the whole of Haikyuu *.*
Tumblr media
I ADORE LORD KAGS.
He is so PURE, honest, sincere and unfiltered....
While everyone has thought it EXACTLY like him, he is the only one TELLING Kenma what was on his mind (and everyone else’s minds).
He is so amazing. He is also stunningly gorgeous, but then what’s new there?
Lord Kageyama is PRAISING Kenma his own way... and I find it so cute how Kenma retracts... I hope to see more interactions between them, this before the whole game goes to waste with some upgrade from the Midget’s about the Midget’s...
Tumblr media
Here it comes what i was talking about before, as the way this game seems to have improved DRASTICALLY Nekoma in a way which is inconsequential to the facts actually happened in the manga.
I’ll try to explain.
If we assume what Karasuno has done to come here on this stage STAYS (namely, if we take it as a development completely and we have to) then the same shall value for Nekoma.
I mean, for me Karasuno wasn’t good enough to beat Shiratorizawa, but once they have had THAT done, they blossomed to a level INFINITELY better than Nekoma’s one.
Karasuno has beaten Shiratorizawa (a team WAY better than Nekoma, with a SUPER ACE, a SUPER BLOCKER, A SUPER DEFENSE. And TWO very good setters. Karasuno has SURPASSED THAT).
Karasuno has kept WINNING against DATEKO ULTRA BLOCK after Kageyama’s time in National (which has leveled up Kageyama even MORE, and he was already the best setter in the game...).
Karasuno has faced an ultra high toss in the form of Koganegawa’s one already. And they have WON.
Karasuno has faced time ago Hyakuzawa’s SUPER TALL AND STRONG attack.
And got it done too.
Karasuno has BEATED UP INARIZAKI, a team STRONGER than Shiratorizawa (and now we know the two team faced up, so it means past tournament Inarizaki BEAT SHIRATORIZAWA UP, logically).
THIS IS KARASUNO NOW.
Nekoma CANNOT even TOUCH such a development, no matter what. They have won against weak teams and lost with teams which are BY NOW not as good as the ones Karasuno has already won over. If anything is logically clear, is that it is true also Nekoma has evolved BUT in no way it has even by far comparably to Karasuno.
Instead, what we seem to have here?
A Nekoma SUDDENLY completely impeccable in all plays. Where are the limits in their attacks? GONE. Where are the limits their defensive approach was still having THE DAY BEFORE THIS MATCH THEY PLAY NOW? Who knows.
Right now, it seems like all of Nekoma has instantly upgraded TONS.
It’s IMPOSSIBLE. It works because to make Nekoma surrender, Furudate HAS to upgrade idiotically the midget too, but in real volley, to counter a team as Nekoma seems to be now (albeit if we consider who they have played with, and losing, there’s no way Nekoma can currently compare with Karasuno) one should just spare the Karasuno formation, forget Hinata exist and play a bit of the rotation with two setters, allowing the Lord to become a support (feral) spiker too at times.
It will happen NONE of it, we know.
Tumblr media
I love the way this panel is.
The extreme respect and truth Kenma speaks with.
Now Kenma is in potential a FANTASTIC setter. He could be in the same range as Oikawa (the Lord still too talented also for him), but what he lacks CANNOT BE WORKED ON IN A SPAN OF DAYS.
Kenma has NO ATHLETIC prowess.
This for a setter is IMPOSSIBLE to deal with, no matter how good your ball touch is.
And... before the brainless simpletons speak he COULD do it in this game... You can’t become an athletic monster from day to night.
To be frank, for Karasuno to win EASILY against Nekoma, they shall JUST target Kenma. Do what Nekoma is trying to do with Kageyama in reversal. It’d be game over soon.
In a little while, lovely Brainy Kitten would get gassed out because he has not the physique of Oikawa (or the one of the Lord, of course) to sustain extended plays where he has to constantly switch, jump, defend and set. And while Karasuno (if only Furudate would be good) could countermeasure a setter targeting by using TWO setters, Nekoma has only one setter to count on, and they couldn’t do anything about it.
But will Furudate do what ANY coach would do?
NOPE: he will keep adding force suddenly to Nekoma until a powered up Hinata will senselessly prevail over it.
ABSURDITIES.
We are all well used to them from ass-licking Furudate by now.
So I still expect this game to become a thing of hate for me, despite the fact Kitten Kenma is adorable, and Lev is fantastic, and a Karasuno deprived from the Orange Curse as it is now it’s a LOT of my likes.
But it won’t last so... I still ready to shut this game out in the near future.
See ya ;) I leave you with the Bonus:
Tumblr media
Gorgeous.
Perfect.
Amazing.
Savage.
I love him so much... *.*
Bye Bye ;)

Man Haikyuu To The Top is good. I’ve been flirting with the idea for a while now but I’m just going to take a stand and announce it, this is my favourite season of Haikyuu!!. Or to put it into a bit more perspective, this is my favourite season of one of my favourite animes ever.
It’s amazing and it makes me want it to just not end, or at least not end anytime soon. So let’s concentrate on the present for now. Episode 9!
I’m just going to blurt out my impressions of the episode as it went. I realized somewhere in the latter half that I had started smiling at some point during the episode and the corners of my mouth hurt a bit. I don’t know when I started smiling so emphatically but I do think it must of been because of one of these moments…
I thought it was adorable that Daichi’s nightmare was essentially exactly what Hinata was going through at the beginning of the series. Well minus the creepy everyone disappeared aspect. But being the only member of the volleyball club and having no place, equipment and no one to play with. That’s pretty much all of Hinata’s experience before Karasuno. I loved how they used such an uncharacteristic sequence that made me wonder what the heck was going on not only to highlight how nervous Daichi is but also how similar all these boys are deep down.
And then, having him meet up with Suga, Asahi and Shimizu for a shrine visit was a great contrast to the previous scene.
Even after all these episodes, we really haven’t gotten to know Shimizu too well. Not in a bad way or anything but it’s just never been her story. Shimizu is a reserved seemingly introverted girl who doesn’t naturally share a lot about herself. It makes sense that she wouldn’t be dropping exposition dumps about her past. Which is why it was refreshing to see her just hang out with the guys from the team like that. Sure it was a bit awkward at first but when things loosened up and everyone started to relax, it was like seeing a group of friends together. For some reason, that felt like real progress to me. And I was so happy for Shimizu. It can be though to find your place.
The other boys though, were all true to themselves. Hinata texting Kageyama to invite him to the shrine and getting just a simple No in response definitely made me giggle. I didn’t get a screencap but I loved seeing Saeko (Tanaka’s sister) again. I always thought the two of us could be friends. I may have Shimizu’s social skills but I have Saeko’s grace. Basically, we quickly saw that the team hadn’t changed too much and that makes sense. The third years are still here. It’s been less than a year since the start of the series, in universe. That sort of blows my mind.
When you look at it that way, all these kids really grew up a whole lot and pretty quickly at that.
You know who else has been killing it lately, coach Yukai. I always liked coach and he certainly always tried his best but aside from being a former volleyball player and having a coach for a grandfather, he was pretty unprepared for the gig. And somehow, I don’t think teaching really comes naturally to him. He’s tried his best but that didn’t always work out and for the most part he was trying to imitate his grandfather or his own past coaches.
But lately, he’s come into his own. He’s been giving Hinata great advice since the start of the season and even going into more mundane details like nutrition and sleep. He’s really starting to step into his won and this best of video compilation for his team is the most genius thing I’ve ever seen. I don’t recall seeing anyone ever do that in either anime or real life. It’s brilliant! It makes me want to coach something just so I can pull that trick. I literally said out loud, oh wow, Ukai is a great coach! Does the fact that Ukai is my favourite character have anything to do with how much importance I am giving to this moment? No, I don’t think so!
When I saw this batch scene in the “next time on Haikyuu” preview of episode 8, I didn’t know what to think. Not that it’s bad in any way but it just seemed so uncharacteristic for Haikyuu. And you may think I’m adding all these screencaps of this one scene because pretty anime girls in baths are good for SEO but that’s not it.
There’s a reason I called my post The Manager. I really liked seeing Shimizu actually being part of the group and not just the team manager. I liked that she may have made some true friends and that her company and opinions are valued beyond manual labour and eye candy for the team. But this is the scene that made me fall in love with Shimizu just a little myself.
The was such a beautiful and intimate moment of friendship. In a show where female characters have been completely relegated to backgrounds and very occasional commentary, this was just a little moment entirely for and about our two main female characters. And it was devoid on cattiness or tired tropes. I must say both of them were portrayed so lovingly as well. Who wouldn’t want to be friends with these girls? I’m really rooting for them.
Before this episode, I had almost forgotten about the tournament. The season’s structure is so unusual and imaginative. Taking such a long breather before reminding the audience of the tension at the core of the present arc. It’s been amazing.
So episode 9 was all about nerves, excitement and anxiety. Or how every one on the team is dealing with said nerves and excitement. When Karasuno entered the venue and started mingling with all the other teams, I started to get a little excited. I haven’t seen so many of them together in a long time and it just creates this electricity in the air. This isn’t a practice match. It’s for real this time. When Nekoma showed up, I practically cheered. I love Nekoma!
But as the teams started filing into the gymnasium one by one, each bearing their banners, I realized something else. I was nervous…and excited…and my cheeks hurt a little because at some point I had started smiling without realizing it and I hadn’t stopped at all.
Haikyuu!!: To the Top ep9 – The Manager Man Haikyuu To The Top is good. I've been flirting with the idea for a while now but I'm just going to take a stand and announce it, this is my favourite season of Haikyuu!!.
