1- When did you start playing Choices? What's the first book you played?
I started playing back in 2018. I kept seeing this thing called “playchoices” trending as number 1 on Tumblr (lol remember those days?). This would happen, without fail, almost every week! When I clicked on it, the posts were all about the finale of a royal story (The Royal Romance!). People made the most hilarious posts, complete with memes. I had no idea what it was, but I gathered it was an app. I downloaded it, and the rest is history.
The first book I played was Desire and Decorum. It was absolute torture because it wasn’t completed yet. So I binged the available chapters. Yes, I spent real money on keys and diamonds, telling myself at least I wasn't spending that money on drugs. It was so much fun waiting for a new chapter every week, even if I’m an impatient mess.
2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?
I joined the fandom almost immediately after downloading the app.
As I sat in my living room, tapping my foot and waiting for the new D&D chapter to drop, I went back into the playchoices tag for content. It felt good to find other people who loved the story as much as I did. There were other users out there who were also waiting impatiently for the new chapter, writing fics and discussing theories in the meantime. There were also some of the funniest memes I have ever seen in my life. At first, I would quietly read and reblog. Then, I slowly started posting my own thoughts and theories (which were not very good lol but hey, this is tumblr after all).
3- How did you pick your url name?
My life is one hyperfixation after another… The one before Choices was Harry Potter. More specifically, the Marauders era. I used to write for the pairing called “Jily”, composed of Harry Potter’s (dead) parents. Kelsey (@takeharryandgo) is a witness of just how much I love James Potter, Harry’s (dead) dad. In fact, our shared love for the pairing and character is one of the things that brought us together.
In short, this URL is a reference to James Potter the first, Harry’s (dead) dad. Not James Sirius Potter the second, Harry Potter’s (living?) son.
I saved it as a sideblog, meant only for writing resources for me to use at a later time. One day, I decided I didn’t want the followers on my main page to see all the Choices spam I was posting, so I resurrected the JP blog.

5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?
I’ve been writing fanfiction since I was a literal child. I used to write in a notebook and my friends would read during recess. It was awful but they were into it. One day, I used up the whole notebook and my friend was desperate for the next part of the story. I told her I needed to wait until my mom took me to the store (literal child) to get a new one. My friend got me a new one by the end of the day lol.
TL;DR that puts me at about 20+ years of writing.
6- What is your favorite Choices book to write about?
Without a doubt, Open Heart!
7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it?
Oh god, the first fanfic I wrote was Lily Evans and James Potter from the Harry Potter universe. I forgot the exact title, but it was named after an Avril Lavigne lyric. Again, I was a child, don’t judge me lol. It’s handwritten in a notebook I still have somewhere, but I will never open it again lest I die of cringe.
My first Choices fic, on the other hand, was a Desire and Decorum fic called “A Wedding Gift” that only like 5 people read at the time.
8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
Oof. This answer changes depending on the day you ask me. I always overthink it and end up saying picking a favorite fic is like picking a favorite child. To avoid being here all day, however, I’m going to say: Fake Husband, She Walks in Beauty, and Lovely.
9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be but could use a little more love?
Definitely, the fic I didn’t expect to do well at all if my first Open Heart fic: Lovely.
I was so naive back then, knowing nothing about the Open Heart writing fandom. I had no idea what format or tags to use when posting. I was afraid there would be no readers out there who wanted to read a silly little story about my MC posting a thirst trap. All I knew was that the latest chapter of Open Heart Year 2 inspired an idea that wouldn’t leave me alone until I wrote it.
I posted it and I was so incredibly lucky to receive so much support. Words cannot explain how special that was. To this day, I cannot verbalize how grateful I am for that.
There isn’t really a fic I can think of that could use more love. It always amazes me that anyone gives my fics their time. So any feedback my fics get will always be valued and treasured by me.
10- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
Oh no.
If forced to choose, I’d say fluff.
11- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?
Absolutely! While I try to make every MC different, I often pull from experience when I write. My Open Heart MC and I have a lot of things in common (heritage, hometown, astrological sign, etc.) But I also wanted her to be her own character with life choices that are different from mine. Since I'm very boring, it definitely makes for better fiction that way.
12- What element of writing do you struggle with most?
It depends on the day. Some days I struggle the most with dialogue. Others, my biggest struggle is descriptions. It's rare when I feel confident in both when I write.
13- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?
*laughs nervously in unfinished series*
There are a few series I have yet to finish. Once again, I apologize for leaving them untouched for so long! I plan to get my shit together soon!
14- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
No!
I don't think I could look anyone in the eye if they read some of the stuff I've written, especially for Choices.
15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?
I strongly believe that one of the best ways to learn as a writer is reading. As such, I believe I've learned from most pieces I've read, particularly published rom com novels. In the fanfiction world, I admire my lovely friend @takeharryandgo. I've had the absolute joy of following her writing for over a decade. And with every work, I am still amazed by her masterful way with words! And her characterization is always spot-on. I simply love to read her spellbinding work and learn from the master!
Other writers/creators I admire are:
@heauxplesslydevoted- one of the first OH writers I've ever read! Her smut is top-tier!
@jerzwriter - her stories, dialogue, and characterization are a delight to read. Her angst is painful. Her smut is sizzling hot!
@liaromancewriter - a true master at romance! Her writing style is magical and synonymous with the best of rom-coms!
@genevievemd - I bow down because the amount of love and care she puts into every piece truly makes her work special!
@lucy-268 - I have always respected the amount of research she puts into every piece. She pours so much care into it so that the narrative flows seamlessly!
@a-crepusculo - her writing is so vivid and immersive. Reading her work is like listening to the most beautiful of symphonies!
@writer-ish - she is such a master at the craft! Her characterization is so vivid that the reader will fall in love no matter the format. Her text edits are legendary!
@bex-la-get - such a talented and dedicated writer! She also pours hours of research into her work, ensuring every detail makes sense!
@potionsprefect - she's such a creative and talented writer. She develops writing ideas like no one else I've ever seen!
@headoverheelsforramsey- I love her storytelling and characterization! She's created a beautiful, inspiring, and intelligent MC for all of us to adore!
@gryffindordaughterofathena - her writing style is one of the most original I've ever seen. Reading her work feels like reading the loveliest of poetry!
@coffeeheartaddict2- the dedication she puts into her work blows me away! She's daring when exploring themes in her writing, and she's not afraid to pull from personal experience.
@lsvdw-blog - the person I'm sending my therapy bill to. Just kidding! Her writing is beautiful, even when it's the most painful angst.
@trappedinfanfiction - she is such a lovely writer. The amount of detail she's given both of her MC's back stories has my absolute respect!
@quixoticdreamer16 - I adore her MC and the wholesome, beautiful background she's given her!
@mysticalgalaxysstuff - Another MC that has stolen my heart. I am so happy she started writing this past year because she's a real talent!
@peonierose - love her beautiful MC and the beautiful love story she built for her with Bryce!

16- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
I would love to see She Walks in Beauty along with its series (1800s AU) in live action. Imagine Ana de Armas and David Gandy in period costumes? That alone would be worth it!
17- Do you write original stories?
I've crafted and outlined original stories before but I've never actually written them. One of my biggest goals for the new year is to finally start. Wish me luck!
18 - What other hobbies do you have?
I love reading, hiking, and dancing!
Yes, I picked the most “impressive” of my hobbies to seem cool. On most days, you'll catch me cuddling with my dog or bf watching YouTube/TikTok/Hell's Kitchen reruns lol.
19 - What’s your favorite emoji?
I used the orange 🧡 and purple 💜 hearts a lot because they're my favorite colors!

DJTober 2023: A Monthly Fan Creation Challenge
Introducing, a new Fan Art/Fan Fiction Challenge for the Month of October 2023!

I always like monthly fanfiction and fan art challenges in certain months that create new work and get the creative flow going. So I decided I wanted to make my own challenge that anyone could join.
Information and Text version of Prompts under the cut:
So what is DJTober? It is a challenge where you can draw or write based on random songs and verses as the daily prompts. I picked the name because it was different and I think Songtober was already taken. You can either post fan art or write fanfic or create a gif or anything that you feel like creating! Will this be a thing? Who knows? Will I make a side blog for this? It depends. Either way, I'm going to try this challenge myself and share it with others.
A couple of things to note:
In order for me to see your work on your platform (either Tumblr or AO3), please use the tags: #DJTober and #DJTober2023.
You can write a one-shot or multiple chapters, one fandom or multiple, and dark/whump/NSFW are allowed as well. Just make sure to tag appropriately and be mindful of triggers/content warnings.
Having said that, I do not allow things like pedophilia or similar in the works. I will immediately remove it and/or take drastic measures if need be.
Your fic can either be inspired by the song itself or by the suggested verse in the picture, or a different lyric of your choice. You can even have someone say the lyric in a quote. Your fic does not have to be a songfic.
You do not have to go in order of the list and you can start as early or late as you want. Just be aware that the collection that is opened now will remain unmoderated until the end of the first week of November.

The Inazuma Eleven fandom almost has no engagement when it comes to their fanfiction. This blog is dedicated to remedy this by reblogging them in one place to make it easier for anybody to find the stories that they want conveniently. New look, same old blog!
welcome to a wholly improved skysometric.co! after years of dreams, sketches, redesigns, code, and slamming my head against the wall, i've finally fulfilled my dream of having a blog that matches my design language. i'm so excited to put it to good use as the front page for my creativity and journaling 💖
the blog's still based on tumblr, using a new custom theme. in truth, it's just a heavy edit of the default theme... and quite a mess of one, at that! but hey, it looks and works great, and isn't that all that counts in the end?
(speaking of which, are you reading this on the tumblr app? come check out the new site!)
About the redesign
on the left menu are links to my main sites, and core tumblr links like the askbox and archive. there's also a theme toggle for light and dark mode – i'm especially proud of how the dark theme turned out! the light theme needs a little work, but i think it's a good start to improve on in the future. oh and btw, these animations for the menus opening and closing? they're pure css, even on mobile~
the right menu has featured tags to browse stuff i've made and written, as well as a search box for anything not featured. tags are a core part of the updated site, serving as collections of art and writing – so they have extra prominence both in the menu and at the bottom of each post. all my most important tags have icons that are loaded dynamically based on their name! and any tags that don't have an icon use the default hashtag. i'm really proud of all the design work that went into it, and i'll show off the icons on their own pretty soon ✨
posts themselves can be blue, purple, or pink, matching my main color palette. the color is based on the post id! so each post's color is always the same, whether you're viewing it on the front page, tag pages, or the post itself.
Design history
this updated blog has been four years in the making, surviving both my name change and multiple iterations of my design language – yet somehow, it still looks just like my years old sketches. i'm impressed at how much i was able to rework and carry forward with me, especially with how many of these ideas felt like dead ends at the time!
that early screenshot at the top is from waayyy back when i was considering moving away from tumblr. it was very tempting to self-host and "own my data" as they say... but i would miss out on all the social features like reblogs. plus, on tumblr people can follow me and see all my posts in the app, as well as on my site – what's not to love? so even though the site's time may be past, i'm sticking with tumblr until they literally nuke it out of orbit~
Cleaning up, carrying forward
i've had this blog for nearly ten years now, and the way i've used it has changed tremendously over that time. what started as my first foray into social media turned into a space for sharing things i found that made me happy, sharing my philosophies and outlook on life, sharing my struggles through college and burnout, and now sharing my journey discovering my voice as a person and a creator. so now that i'm a new person with a new voice, i should probably clear out all those crusty old cobwebs and start fresh, right?
not a chance!
if anything, i went back and made sure my old posts look just as good as my new ones, cleaning up tags and backporting my new code to work with old tumblr post layouts. i want to carry my history forward with me! for all these years this blog has been my journal, and even though my journaling changed with time, that core purpose hasn't. honestly, after all the cleaning, i'm inspired to return to those old methods of journaling – share more of myself, share more of what makes me happy, be more free and open and wild ✨
(that said, some of those early posts were especially raw! those have been archived for now. maybe i'll remake the sentiment behind them someday...)
My promise to myself
in the wake of college i realized i was posting less here on the blog; this redesign was an attempt to give it more importance, so that i would use it more. but what i didn't realize was that i was posting less due to burnout... and i stalled out on the redesign, also due to burnout. a double whammy! so i used my blog less than ever, and it languished for years.
on top of that, giving my blog more importance made it more of a Serious Website™ in my head, a place where i had to put my best foot forward at all times. that made me want to post here even less, only when i finished some big or important project! but my blog was never intended for this – i've been posting random nonsense since the beginning.
so what started as a promise that i would use my blog more, became a promise that i would make my blog A Big Deal. and that's not healthy for me! so i stepped back and re-evaluated. first, i started consciously calling this place my journal, to make it a sketchy and rough place with intent. second, i ultimately decided to redesign it anyway, with a new promise: to make it somewhere i'm proud of posting more often, no matter what those posts look like.
and with that promise fulfilled, i'm ready to get back to journaling 💙

So Maddy is leaving RQ, citing “staff cuts” and thereby implying it wasn’t her decision, following a rather surprising hiatus at Rusty Quill which affected Chapter & Multiverse, Trice Forgotten, as well as Patreon Bonus content, such as Problemagicians and Compulsory Film Appreciation.
At the same time, RQ is putting out multiple updates daily for their stupid little TMA ARG. teasing “The Magnus Archives 2″.
What. The actual fuck. Is going on in this company.
They’re Rusty Quill. Not “The Magnus Archives Incorporated”. They have other shows that have fans. They have other shows that could make them money, if they only promoted them decently.
The Magnus Archives had a great ending, stop milking a dead cow and instead focus on the ones that are still alive.
Stop shooting yourself in the foot.
Can’t believe I’m supporting this shit show with a patreon subscription. I am seriously going to reevaluate this decision.

One of the themes in Goncharov I found fascinating considering its timeframe and setting is the idea of surviving despite everything. Despite the violence, the destruction, the uncertainty, you can still make it through. It also ties into the theme of how the characters' perpetuate a cycle of violence. Circumstances may change, but the method of handling it stay the same.
This is highlighted by the two gangs featured, one affiliated with the Russian Mafia and the other the Italian Mafia. The two groups were changed by the events of WW2, and had adapted to survive in the new society they found themselves in. Still, their methods of how to handle things stay the same throughout it all, which at its core is violence.
The characters go through this in their own ways. Everyone ends up resorting to violence to deal with their circumstances. However, this ends up being a, literally, fatal flaw for them. They lean too much into their ways and they end up facing brutal consequences. Ice Pick Joe's murders come back to him and he dies with his weapon in hand. Goncharov is killed after having betrayed everyone, getting a taste of his own medicine. Katya can make anyone disappear, but that leads to her own unknown status.
What they all fail to realize is that they needed to survive, not just succeed. They were so deep in what they thought was their only choice that they couldn't see the opportunities they could have taken to change these circumstances.
Sofia, however, seems to be the only character to break her own cycle. Everyone else dies in the end, but she was able to look away from everything just long enough to accept these opportunities. This is why she ends up as the sole survivor of the film. It can seem like an act of cowardice, like she ran away from her problems, but I believe it was a successful act of self preservation. She realised it wasn't worth sticking around to see if things got better. You can't help anyone if you're dead.

My meds are working so I’ve been Doing Stuff Again, and that includes impulsively finding and archiving every single Danganronpa in-character birthday tweet that Kazutaka Kodaka has posted on Twitter between 2017 and now. Plus some translations.
There do seem to be some birthday tweets before 2017, but they don’t include pictures and I’m not sure I want to scour Kodaka’s Twitter any deeper than I did.

Ot3 fake-dating fanfic idea:
Your main character has a top secret job that they have to travel a lot for - when asked by their date why they had to leave in a hurry, in a panic they said it's because they're actually poly/ in an open relationship and have to go home to their partner. They don't expect to get a second date after that, but lo and behold actually the date calls back and over time they get into a mostly long-distance relationship - in which the lies about their 'other relationship' quickly pile up...
Now the date wants to meet the other partner, maybe because the main character made them seem much too nice - and now they have to pretend to be in a relationship with their co-worker....
Please @ me if anybody writes this, no matter the fandom!

So I was writing a fic just for my sibling’s birthday, but now it has a ‘plot’ and ‘the cosmic horror of a god scooping out your memories but they do not truly understand the human mind’

Go Back? Start Again.
Grian has been missing for a week. The other Hermits have spent that time searching his last known location and their magic for ways to try and find him. It's a full moon tonight, and Pearl is hoping the extra boost that gives her magic will help her find clues. It works, though not in the traditional sense, and Pearl, Impulse, Scar, and Xisuma race to rescue Grian from the Deep Dark before things go horribly wrong.
Unfortunately for them, the Warden is not so inclined to let people leave.

Tubbo has been on the DSMP his entire life. And, sure, he doesn't remember anything before he was eight, but he's not actually aware of that so he's not super worried about it. What he IS worried about is Dream, loose on the server, and exactly what that implies for everyone he cares about.
Iskall's son has been missing for ten years. He's given up hope on ever seeing him again, even if Sparklez is still searching the void for him. Hermitcraft has been kind to him since he joined, and he couldn't be more grateful--even if his friends are sometimes incredibly annoying. It's good to have a place where he can move on with his life. After all, it's not like Tubbo's going to just show up on the edge of the Hermitcraft server, right?

so i've decided i'm gonna kinda revamp my blog a little bit!!
gonna keep the fics that i'm most proud of here with an updated masterlist, but move my other fics to my ao3, as more of an overall archive. i'm trying to be more active there as well.
i'll be removing my multiple dead and cancelled series from my masterlist, but may edit and reupload them to my ao3, since longer fics and series seem to do much better in that space instead of here.
that being said my tumblr will be mostly drabbles and short fics while longer projects will most likely just be posted straight to ao3 from now on. i'll post links and updates here for anyone who's interested.

1- When did you start playing Choices? What's the first book you played?
I started playing Choices sometime around 2017. While playing another game on my phone, I got curious after seeing some strangely funny adds about the app. I remember that the first time I logged into the game it asked me the kind of story I wished to play and I think the first book it suggested was Rules of Engagement. So, I guess that was the first one… but I remember the first ones I really enjoyed playing were the LoveHacks series and HSS.
2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?
For a while I had read fanfics on AO3 and then found out about Tumblr, I created my own account in October 2018 with the intention of reading fanfics. So, I officially joined the Choices fandom on Tumblr around October or November 2018, after spending a few times only reading fanfics, getting to know how Tumblr worked and following some of my favorite writers at the time and reading news and theories about the books, until I eventually posted my own fanfics and started interacting more with others fans and creators.
3- How did you pick your url name?
My url name was inspired by one of my favorites movie characters: Amelie Poulain.
4- Go back to your archive and tell us about the first post on your Choices blog.
It was something totally unrelated to Choices lol I was still getting used to Tumblr and the first post was probably something about cats or a meme I think… (Tumblr app won't let me see my archive)
5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?
I started in late 2018. I had recently found out about fanfiction during many sleepless nights nursing my baby daughter and read a ton of fics from another fandom… and since I had stopped writing content for my best friend's maternity blog but was still excited about writing, the idea of writing one story of mine sounded appealing, and still does. Four years later, and I'm still here, even if real life has left me little time to write fanfic this past year ☺️
6- What is your favorite Choices book to write about?
My favorite book to write is definitely Desire & Decorum, though I enjoy writing for Blades and Wake the Dead too.
7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it?
The first chapter of my series, The Pursuit of Happiness - was the first fanfic I ever wrote. I still like it and am proud of it. Of course, as a perfectionist, there are a ton of things I'd change (and I have fidgetted with it many times since it was originally posted, lol), but I like to think that as my first attempt at writing a fictional story after too many years of only writing academic and professional texts it was a good start and I'm happy I overcame my fears and posted and allowed people to read it even if it was not perfect. When I read those initial chapters now, I can see how much I have learned and developed my craft, and I'm happy about this. Besides, this first chapter was an opportunity to get in touch with other Desire & Decorum fans, and it was an amazing experience with how supportive and kind people can be in this fandom ❤️
8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
OMG! Asking me to pick one is like asking a mother to pick a favorite child lol I can't, so I'm cheating and picking two - one for each of my favorite books: Run to You, a Desire & Decorum one shot and Heart in a Cage, a Blades one shot.
9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be but could use a little more love?
Definitely, Like Poetry, this Blades one-shot is so out of my style and different from everything else I've posted on Tumblr. It has a lot of angst and deals with the dilemmas of a relationship between a human and an elf, and mortality is the main subject, and I have experienced a different kind of narrative, but the readers really enjoyed it, and I was happy I posted it.
Well, I can't complain. I have a small blog and mostly write for a pairing that is not the most popular in the fandom; despite those facts, I have received so much support and love from readers, but if I could pick one fic that I'd like to receive more love would be the miniseries Is This Love? , because it was special to create a backstory for my Desire & Decorum MC Elizabeth before she became Lady Elizabeth and heiress of Edgewater, and address some subjects I really wanted to deal with but were mostly hinted at in The Pursuit of Happiness, and writing the relationship between Elizabeth and her mother Mary and the friendship with Briar was truly special to me.
10- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
Fluff. No question. I love writing romantic tropes and happy endings, so fluff it is l, especially to my OTP Elizabeth and Hamid ☺️
11- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?
My MCs are not versions of myself, but I do recognize some traits and aspects of myself, specially in my Desire & Decorum OC Elizabeth Foredale, like myself, she's Brazilian, and sometimes there are references like in her speech pattern in informal situations and the use of slang or calling even the LI "dude" that are very me. There are some subjects and options, like Elizabeth being a law student, that echo my life and experience…
12- What element of writing do you struggle with most?
It usually depends. But since English is not my first language, sometimes I struggle with descriptions and finding suitable vocabulary and metaphor and creating sentences with a structure that makes sense in English, and since my references are in another language some of my cultural references have no translation or make no sense outside my country. Also I tend to be too wordy and sometimes it's hard to keep the pace flowing as it should, and it takes some time and work during editing to correct that.
13- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?
Yes, I do have a lot of stories in my drafts and a long list of WIPs that I wish to finish, and alas, I had the time and motivation to finish them all. I will list three in particular that I have posted in the first chapter and are on my priority list to finish: Bonds of Sea and Fire, I love writing for Tyril and Arwen (f!elf!MC), and I have lots of drafts, but never found time and inspiration to continue the series; Love Thy Neighbour, it's an AU where Elizabeth and Hamid are neighbours at London, and it's a fluff story about destiny and falling in love when you least expect; and Desire & Decorum & Zombies, it's a gothic supernatural AU where zombies are real, and the MC, who is the heiress to Edgewater has to struggle to fit in this new world of nobility, uncover mysteries and literally fight for her life. Three are very different stories, but all have a place in my heart.
14- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
I don't know!! Maybe depending on who this person would be. 🫣 I am very self-conscious about my writing, and only my husband knows that I write fanfic and has read a few of my works… but if it was someone I trusted and was unfamiliar with Choices, I would recommend Like Poetry or the miniseries Safe, because not knowing the characters wouldn't be an obstacle and I'm proud of my writing in those stories.
15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing? I think everything I've read in my life has made an impact on my writing, even if it taught me what or how I didn't want to write and tell my stories. I've read many Brazilian writers, and I love Machado de Assis and his sense of humor, and I know I've incorporated elements of his style into mine, especially when writing historical fics like my Desire & Decorum series; and there are so many other published authors like Jane Austen and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry who also influenced my storytelling. As for fanfic writers, there are definitely some who influenced me. In the Choices fandom, @lorirwritesfanfic was a huge influence. Her Desire and Decorum AU was the inspiration for my series Second Chances, without reading her fics I don't think I would have ventured into creating my own contemporary days AU; another inspiration was @/pixieferry. Her style was amazing and poetic and filled with references unfortunately, she's no longer active in the fandom, but I still think about her fics.
16- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
Second Chances! I can totally see it as a rom-com or a series, and I have my dream cast for it ❤️
17- Do you write original stories?
I write original stories. I have written a couple of things when I was a teen, mostly short stories, and have in my drafts two stories I'd like to turn into novels that I started writing during the pandemics and world building for those truly excite me.
18 - What other hobbies do you have?
I'm an amateur photographer, but I haven't really dedicated myself to this for a while for lack of time, and I like drawing and doing all sorts of craft work with my daughter.

Writing fanfic has been a nice hobby and means to improve my skills, which is something great for anybody that would like to someday be a published author. But most importantly, I think are the people I got to befriend in the Choices fandom and how much I've learned along the way (which has been so much more than I thought I would gain from playing this silly game when I first started ☺️); each comment has meant so much either to help me improve or to encourage me to keep on writing. So, I just wanted to thank each and every one of you who has read my fics and taken a moment from your time to give me feedback, and my lovely friends who have beta read my fics and cheered me on when writer's block or imposter syndrome was in the way of writing, @princess-geek, @lorirwriesfanfic, and @noesapphic, you guys are amazing and have my gratitude ❤️

Hi Jen! I really like your AMVs, especially for SU! I've been thinking about trying to make one of my own and wanted to ask something. How did you get the clips you needed?

So, the unfortunate answer here is that I obtained raw (mostly HD) files from a shared MEGA account about like... ummm... 3 years ago? And the sad truth is, I don't even recall what link I used for those anymore. It was something I saw on a tumblr post back when I was deep in the thickets of the fandom, and I backlogged all of them on my comp. I fear that even if I could find the link, that resource would be dead anyways.
(Yeah, okay, I double checked- all my stuff was downloaded from the old blogger madridista-again and their massive MEGA archive, but their blog has since been purged by tumblr and even the MEGA links that were saved on the internet archive don't work anymore.)
Followers, opening it up- do any of you know of any current, safe, HD SU episode sources for this asker? Watermark free, preferably- those are best for editing.

Hello thediamondabovemyhead! :-D are you talking about ts2-palettedatabase dreamwidth? Since that's sort of an "index" or how to say with links to many different creators, I don't have time to go through it unfortunately :-( I did skim through it quick and some links still work! Even though the images on the site is gone, they are still clickable and working :-D as for the links that doesn't work, I can give you some tips:
if you have trouble with the box links, I recommend to using digi's box-link-redirector
when you stumble upon a deleted livejournal / dreamwidth / blog, try pasting the link into wayback. If you're lucky, it might have been saved :-D for example, monotonevisions' livejournal has been archived!
you can also try searching on packrat with the creator's name to see if it has been re-uploaded here. Tumblr's searchbar is not the best though so if you don't get any matches, try changing the url to /tagged/*name* instead of /search/*name* (<- I should probably make a pinned post about this)
Lastly, you're very welcome to send in another ask with a more specific question! I.e, if you find a download from a creator with a dead link. Those questions are easier for me to help you with :-D

so, as mentioned, as a result of a persistent tumblr error, I've been trying out a private dreamwidth journal for a personal project and... I like it so much more?
my focus isn't constantly assailed by dashboard/blog notifications; the chances of being shown casual antisemitism are nil. I found a mobile-friendly layout in one of the resource communities (tbf the standard layouts may work on mobile, but I didn't like any of them enough). I can still post images and even gif sets. I can post and organise my vast number of research texts. I can cross-reference to my heart's delight. it saves draft posts. you can put multiple cut tags in the same entry. the tags are much better organised and easy to rename. they're all in the sidebar! and there is a tags page! you can pin two posts (more with paid accounts). I can set the default access level (public/friends/private) for the whole journal. there are good comment controls. there is image storage (public/friends/private). there’s also the benefit of the memories feature (public/friends/private) for saving posts. logging in doesn't take me to a feed of updates from my contacts; I have to go to the /reading page to seek them out, which is far better for my concentration. you can send direct messages to other users. there are no ads or algorithms. the faq section is pretty comprehensive and easy to navigate. perhaps most importantly, it doesn't break my fucking posts. I love it, I feel saner already, and I may upgrade to a paid account to help keep them afloat.

the only thing I miss about tumblr is the archive page and being able to filter that by post type/tag. and having sideblogs is a lot easier than having to switch accounts (ig this is why LJers used to create communities for their fic/graphics and limit them to mod-only posting; you can create as many communities as you like). for whatever reason, the rich text editor on DW is not working for me and I intermittently hit 403 error pages (it works after I hit refresh; irritating, and I hope they fix it, but not a dealbreaker). I don't mind using the html editor; I'm used to them, and frankly they tend to be more reliable. there is no mobile app for DW but that too may be advantageous (fewer distractions). so I can't post on mobile as easily, but I can still access the curated information while on the go if necessary. some things take a little longer to post but that is fine.
I have liked sideblogs as a way to organise research projects, but it is always an uphill battle. pages don't work on the app anymore, trying to access tumblr via mobile web is for stronger people than I, and so I have to pin long posts full of internal links in order to navigate everything I've curated. and now those are more or less un-editable.

I originally ended up on tumblr bc LJ was going dead and tumblr was where everyone was migrating, but there's a very real possibility that the LJ/DW interface is the one I'm conditioned to. apart from being organised and efficient and non-distracting, it's also a more satisfying, slower paced way of interacting with people: it's geared towards writing more than images and so functions more as a journalling/penpal kind of thing; the only way to interact is to write comments or DMs. (I have a friend who is now part of an international friend/meetup group with her old LJ mutuals. the bonds of pseudonymous penpalship are strong.)
obviously we are never ever ever going back to LJ:
but afaik DW seems fine.
I'm resistant to nostalgia but using DW does remind me of when the internet felt more DIY and interesting (good blogs, forums, etc) and less intrusive. ultimately: if it feels more enjoyable, I'll go with it; no need to overthink it.
I set up a (different) DW account a few years back but never quite figured out what to write about so it's been sitting as a backup fic archive. however, I may start using it as more of a journal/commonplace book. (do I use the existing account for this or do I set up a whole new account. to be decided.)

New Years 2024 Updates List
Hello! It's the first time I am ever doing this. It's because.. well, how do I put this? I got distracted. Very distracted. And also very unmotivated with my writing skills. Which is why there will be updates for EVERY blog. It will go in order of "how big the update is". In order it's "Not that bad" to "Oh god, the blog is on a long ass hiatus". Important Information:
This blog is an (admittedly unprofessional) archive of Sqaishey Quack’s old personal blogs from mid 2018 to early 2020. The blogs were all deleted off the internet sometime after the last blog post was made. I recently remembered that I had screenshots of most of the blogs (27/30) sitting on my old laptop collecting digital dust, so I decided to upload them here in case anyone found them interesting and wanted to re-read them. Below are a few things to keep in mind:
1) For those who are unaware, Sqaishey Quack (often shortened to Sqaishey) is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. Their name is Kye Garrett. These blogs were written by Sqaishey before they came out, so they often use she/her pronouns as well as their deadname in reference to themself. This is not an excuse to deadname or misgender Sqaishey when reading or discussing these blog posts, as well as when interacting with them and their fandom outside of this space. This warning was probably unnecessary, but I’m giving it just in case.
2) These blogs are largely personal and cover a variety of topics that can be upsetting or triggering to people. There is discussion of depression, anxiety, panic attacks, eating disorders, and past abuse/trauma. I’ll make sure to give warnings on each blog post. If anyone has any concerns/thinks I missed a trigger tag, lemme know through the askbox or message me.
3) For additional context; these blogs are very personal, but these were all posted onto Sqaishey’s twitter back when they were being updated. You can still find the dead links to them in their twitter feed. I’m only mentioning this just in case anyone thinks I somehow “stole” these from an intentionally personal website (like, for a non-youtube audience) or something. These blogs were all fully available to fans and followers when they were being written.
4) I have made no edits to any of these blog screenshots aside from cropping them to make them look cleaner. You can check that in the file information. That being said, all of the words written are Sqaishey’s. I’d also like to apologize in advance for my teenage self not taking better screenshots of the blog- I’ve done what I can by cropping them, but I’m sorry if the reading experience is janky in any way.
5) In the description, you can see that I only have most of the 30 blogs written- I’m missing three. If you have any screenshots of #28 “Today” (written 10/10/19), #29 “Progress” (written 2/2/20), and/or #30 “Comfort” (written 2/25/20), I’d really appreciate if you could send them to me through either the askbox or the submission tab. I’ll also take screenshots of the blog’s original homepage and about sections.
6) As a final note, as much as I think these blogs should still be publicly available, if Sqaishey themself asks me to take down the blog, I will.
And that’s it! Go ham and read/share as much as you like. I’m also all for people discussing these old blogs in the tags (?? I think that’s what it is, I don’t know how tumblr works yet) so feel free to voice any thoughts/opinions you have so long as they’re mindful of pronouns/names and whatnot.
