Whenever I get worried that Ted and Rebecca won't be romantic, I remember all of the soulmate discussions in season 3, the hallway scene, the 15 missed texts, and the Oklahoma scene.
Holy shit, even if they don't end up together, we have some great romantic moments for those two. Fanfic will prevail.
thank you for the absolutely glorious chapter… i was having painful withdrawals… and for casting the image of charles dance mephisto into my mind!!! rosamund pike for baalphegor?? perfect!!!
Thank you! Apologies for it taking so long. It was...restructured quite a lot. Couldn't figure out how to make it work. But I'm fairly happy with how it came out in the end!
AND YOU'RE WELCOME. BECAUSE. LOOK. AT. THEM.
I love them, anon. I love them both. So much. I just want to go on dark adventures with the terrible Dad and weird not!mother.
The teasing and giggling knowing they're about to start seamlessly harmonizing is also delightful. It's like they're still shy about getting things going before the magic can happen. But it always does.
I’ll be honest here… I simp for Mikoto’s and Fuuta’s voices. Like their songs? SO GOOD. *playing Fuuta’s cover of Salamander on repeat right now* Like please… I want their voices in an envy way but also… just screams. The VAs are just *chief’s kiss*
Marbles is a tender song that can make me cry sometimes but always with a smile on my face. Because this is an ode to growing old together.
Of course the lyrics that made me cry the first time is when we discover that the character Joey sings is losing his memories at the end. But this is so full of love that I can't be fully sad. It's just really moving.
But there are some other lyrics that move me differently. On the chorus there is :
Rest my head at night content knowing where my marbles went
To loose one's marbles is an expression to say loose one's mind. Knowing that in the end Joey's character will probably lose his mind because of Alzheimer or something, it's a sweet way of telling that his anchor is the one he loves.
But I see another meaning that is also bittersweet. A Peter Pan reference.
For those who remember the movie Hook with Robin Williams which is an adaptation of Peter Pan, at the beginning there was this old man, named Toddles, that is senile and is searching his marbles everywhere. Toddles was in reality one of the lost boys and the marbles were his happy though. Peter gives them back at the end of the movie and Toddles flies away full of joy to the imaginary land.
I can't help but find a kind of connection there. For Joey character who is slowly losing his memories and will probably end senile, his happy thoughts are Madeleine's character - his marbles.
This is so sweet and tender 🥺.

The second thing that is obsessing me is simply their voices, especially on the last part. Because they sing almost all the time within the same range and they switch roles as Joey uses his mid-high register and Madeleine her lower. Sometimes it's blending so well it's hard to tell who is who.
And I just love to plunge into their mixed voices which are just another way to describe the inseparable couple of the song.
