You took a moment to stare at Alhaitham in silence, half angry that he could be so nonchalant about the situation, and half confused that his words came out in such a clumsy, un-Alhaitham-like way.

"You know, you could have just said you didn't want to kiss me. It would have spared me the embarrassment."

"That's not what I..." Alhaitham sighed, running a hand through his hair. He considered explaining himself better in order to erase your doubts, but in a rare case of frustration and need, he threw all logical thoughts out the window and simply took your face in your hands and kissed you.

Your eyes flew open in shock, but you were quick to melt into him, letting his hands perfectly slot against your waist and neck. You really didn't know what you were doing, and you weren't entirely sure if you were still going to be angry at his response later, but what you did know was that this moment where Alhaitham's mouth on yours was pure bliss, and you never wanted it to stop.

As if he could sense your yearning for more, Alhaitham gripped your waist tighter, pulling you so close that you could feel his heartbeat thud against his chest. You let your hand settle there, memorizing the patterns of each beat.

Alhaitham never let his walls down for anyone, but right here, with his lips sliding purposely over yours and his heart pulsing wildly through his shirt, you were honored to be his one exception.

You hoped it would stay this way forever.
