theodore nott x reader!
genre: fluff!
synopsis: going to bed without theodore nott was never fun.
wc: 0.4k
a/n: somewhat of a modern au! hogwarts is like. a normal boarding school in this & they can go off campus it makes sense in my head anywayyssss had theo brainrot the past few days + a reworking of an old fic from my aniblog! + part of 1k celebration!
Theo had always felt like home to you. So when you went to bed without him last night, it felt unusual and cold. He normally was in his dorm early enough to spend time with you in the night, but last night he stayed helping out Draco with more practice.
You were completely wiped from the week, and had showered, changed into one of Theo’s shirts and a pair of shorts and laid in bed skimming your book. you got tired of your book and started to watch a rom com which made you reminisce about when you and Theo started dating.
Eventually it was 10:30pm, and with no sign of Theo, you turned everything off and tried to sleep. The sheets were too cool for you, and the feeling of warm arms around your waist and a light breath on your neck was not real. You tossed and turned until you finally lulled yourself to sleep, not noticing that Theo was just arriving into the dorm.
When you woke up, you felt the bed still warm, but no sign of Theo. you sighed and got up, not knowing where your boyfriend went. As soon as you made it out of bed, the bathroom door of breakfast opened up. You saw Theo wearing his towel around his waist & drying his hair with another. You went up to him and gave him a kiss, which came as a nice surprise to him. Both of you pulled away, a goofy smile on both of your faces.
“Morning sleepyhead. Figured you were still asleep and didn’t want to wake you.”
You shook your head and snaked your arms around his neck.
“I missed you last night. Fell asleep before you came.”
He pressed a light kiss to your forehead and brushed your stray hair away.
“Sorry. Draco was trying to practice and then he wouldn’t stop talking about some random nonsense.”
You hummed and he wrapped his arms around you, tossing his hair drying towel towards a chair he had.
“How can I make it up to you?”
You make a show of you pretending to think before shrugging.
Theo pulled you flush against him, and smiled.
“How’s breakfast to start?”
You nodded and smiled.
“Sounds good.”
He gave you a quick peck, before detaching himself from you.
“Perfect, I’ll get ready and I’ll treat you to breakfast.”

If the World Was Ending
Theodore Nott x Fem!Reader Part Two of Craw Home to Her
Tumblr media
A/N- after weeks it's finally here! This isn't a direct songfic like the first part, however, it's accompanying song is If the World Was Ending by JP Saxe
Slight alteration to the original timeline of events of Half-Blood Prince
crawl home to her (part I) navigation slytherin boys masterlist
After that party in the Slytherin Common Room, you and Theo had begun dating. And for the entire month of January, a perfect Valentine's Day, and everything was perfect. Now, with Spring Break is rapidly approaching, the war is becoming more and more real. Everyone in your small circle knew of the tasks that had been assigned to you and a few other children of prominent Death Eaters in preparation of their takeover of Hogwarts at the end of the year.
Draco had begun to stress and look worse for wear as the weight of this secrecy from Hermione started to settle in. Mattheo, who had the worst of the lot of you, had given up on his usual banter with Potter and had been holed up in the boys' dormitory for the past two weeks or so.
Though there'd been an uptick in the moods of Theo and yourself in the midst of your new relationship, the novelty and puppy-love air had dampened when a letter from Theo's father arrived a few days ago requesting a visit home in the upcoming spring break. While your parents had been relatively silent since giving you your assignment, you knew that they'd want a progress update soon, and you hadn't even worked up the stomach to begin at all.
The thought of betraying your classmates and professors at Hogwarts had become sickening to all of you.
Still, sitting here in Theo's arms under a large oak tree at the Great Lake, you couldn't find it in yourself to feel scared or sad. There was a soft and sweet bubble of love around the two of you with a warm air that seeped into your bones and warmed your soul. Theo pressed a sweet kiss to your temple and when you turned to meet his eyes, you were unsure how you never realized that Theodore Nott was in love with you. Especially if he'd been looking at you like that all this time.
"You know I leave next Tuesday, love?"
The deep rumble of Theo's voice in his chest felt like a lightning bolt through your body that had electricity simmering at the tips of your fingers and your toes. How you'd never realized you were also madly in love with Theodore Nott you were also unsure of. Had your body always reacted to him this way? The thought of being away from him for 10 days made your heart sink a little lower than you'd anticipated. You and Theo had been each other's light as the skies darkened and the air turned cold. You could predict now that your mood would suffer significantly from a lack of Vitamin Theo.
"I'll miss you."
"And I you," His arms tightened around your torso and pulled you further back into his chest. "have you heard from your mum yet?"
You shook your head and tried not to think about the rage you'd certainly face if you didn't start on your task soon. You'd never particularly been friends with Katie Bell, but the thought of cursing her made you a little queasy. Especially when it meant the end result was weakening Dumbledore so that Mattheo could deliver the final blow.
Still, Draco and Theo both has worse jobs than your own. Draco was still working on the Vanishing cabinet and adjusting to his new dark mark bestowed to him by his aunt, and your mother, Bellatrix LeStrange. Theo had been tasked with enlisting the help of the Acromantula and Centaurs in the Dark Forest and it wasn't going very well. When he'd returned the other night, he'd had arrow cuts all over after rapidly fleeing the scene when his meeting with a group of centaurs turned sour.
In short, you'd been given an easy and simple task with minimal danger. But you'd been given it because it was essential. Should you fail to deliver this curse to Dumbledore, when Mattheo advances on him, he will surely lose, and the Dark Lord will descend upon the entire lot of you with a fury unknown.
"You'll be fine. And the curse won't kill Bell, she'll just be a little rattled."
You whipped your head upwards to your boyfriend and flashed him a bewildered look. "They asked me to use Imperio, Theo! That's an unforgiveable."
"I know. But in the grand scheme of things, we'll all be otherwise occupied before this whole thing is over."
You settled back into his embrace without another word.
You knew he was right.
But you just couldn't stomach it.
Tumblr media
Turns out you were right. You couldn't stomach it.
You tried to be as quiet as possible as you deposited the contents of your stomach behind the Three Broomsticks. Thankfully, the bustling sounds of Hogsmeade during Spring Break were cover enough for the sounds of you retching.
But it was done. Katie Bell had been successfully cursed, given her mission, and sent on her way to the Headmaster's Office.
It was the last few days of Spring Break and Theo was supposed to return soon. Your nerves ad been on edge since he'd left. Now that you completed your task, you felt a little better but you wouldn't be able to relax until Theo was safely back into your arms. Only two more days and he'd be back.
After what turned out to be an unsuccessful attempt to curse Katie, you went back to your dorm room and tried to ignore the growing feeling of dread inside of you. Once your mother heard of your failure through Professor Snape, you were pretty much done for. You didn't attend Dinner that night and instead decided to remain holed up in your bed with your curtains drawn shut. You weren't exactly in the mood for sympathies.
However, your plans to sulk for the evening were interrupted quite suddenly by Pansy Parkinson. "Y/n get up! They're here."
You rolled over halfway and stared bewildered at your friend. "Who's here?"
"The Death Eaters."
A chill ran straight down your spine. They weren't supposed to be here until the end of the year. They weren't supposed to come until Theo came back. Still, you flung yourself out of bed and quickly pulled on your tennis shoes and a jumper to protect you from the cold air. When you finally exited the common room, it was pretty clear where the Death Eaters were. Students were tearing off in waves away from the Great Hall. You could hear your mother's manic cackling and curses fired into the crowd caused even more panic.
You masked your fear with an emotionless facade and began shoving through the crowd towards your mother trying to appear as mean as possible and firing meaningless spells into the crowd.
As soon as your mother could see you, she bound towards you with a grin. It was hard to tell if she was angry or excited. It was always hard to tell. "Daughter! You've done so well. The Dark Lord will be so pleased. Dumbledore is dead!" You tried to smile and look happy with the news but your chest tightened further. Dumbledore was dead, Theo was missing, and you were now back into the clutches of your insane mother.
Part of your heart sunk at her words. You'd never particularly cared for your mother but it was always The Dark Lord will be so pleased or The Dark Lord is proud or The Dark Lord cares for all of his disciples and never her saying those things to you. She was never pleased, never proud, and she never cared. Harry Potter came suddenly around the corner of the corridor and fired a stunning curse that hit Crabbe's father dead center in the chest.
Your mother's face instantly turned from pleased to enraged and she let out the cruciatus curse in a bellow. You didn't see the remainder of the encounter as she and the other Death Eaters took off after Potter. A temporary relief calmed your heart. Snape hadn't said anything to your mother. At least not yet. Maybe you could convince him not to say anything.
As you ran through the castle, you'd noticed dead bodies of classmates that'd been slaughtered by the Death Eaters' rampage. Still, no sign of Theo. You begun to fear for your boyfriend. There's no way that Nott Sr. would come to the castle on this mission without Theo. You were so lost in your head, you didn't see Hermione until you slammed into each other and knocked heads. Your movements mirrored each other as both of your arms shot up to rub at your temples.
"Y/n! Have you seen Draco?"
You shook your head sympathetically and wrapped the brunette into what would probably be the last hug you ever gave Hermione Granger.
"I've got to go, but Theo's looking for you. I just passed him outside of the Charms classroom running around like a madman." She sprinted away from you but turned momentarily to shout after your own retreating figure. "If you see Draco, tell him I love him!"
You took off towards the Charms classroom with a new fervor. Please Salazar let Theo be okay. Finally, you heard his voice. "Y/n?! Y/n!!"
"Theo! Theo I'm here!!"
The moment you laid eyes on Theodore Nott your heart stopped. He was covered head to toe in bruises and his skin had paled since you saw him last. He looked downright awful. But that didn't stop you from launching yourself into his embrace and squeezing like the world depended on it. Draco, Mattheo, Blaise, and Pansy were all rallied behind him. Pansy was tucked into Blaise' side. Draco had his wand drawn and was frantically checking every door in the corridor no doubt looking for Hermione.
"She's not here, D. I ran into her maybe five minutes ago. She asked me to tell you that she loves you. Then she took off towards the East Wing of the castle."
Draco immediately started sprinting in the direction you'd come from with Pansy and Blaise hot on his tail.
You recentered on Theo who pressed his forehead down into yours.
"What has happened to you Theodore Nott?"
"It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if the sun were shining or if the world was ending, I will always be right here. With you."
You stared up at him. "The world is ending, my love."
You pressed your lips against his.

The Color Pink (Part 9)
This one is fucking long. Buckle up.
Hazel came home after another long, slow day at the cafe. Business was still dull. Her only customer seemed to be The Vigilante, but things grew tense between them as she spent more time with The Noise. The Vigilante always seemed to have something curt to say. However, she hadn't seen The Noise much since he had been so overwhelmed by work. She was so bored around her house. She just sat around waiting for 7 p.m. to come. She was always excited to get her daily phone call from Theodore, even if it was just him explaining that he was too tired to talk. The time finally came, and her phone rang. She answered it without hesitation. "Hello?"
"Hey! It's me," Theodore greeted.
"Hey! I was waiting for you to call."
"I was wondering if you wanted to do something tomorrow. I know you're usually off on weekends."
"Really?"
"Yeah!"
"Of course! What were you thinking we do?"
"I don't know... I was hoping you would have some ideas."
"Um... Hm... Maybe we could just do something casual, like hanging out at the park or one of our houses."
"Oh! Uh... I think I'd prefer the park. I'd feel more comfortable with that."
"I understand that. It's supposed to be super nice out."
"Cool! What time were you thinkin'?"
"How about one or two?"
"One works for me. The sooner the better."
"Okay!"
"I have this thing where if I have plans later in the day, I won't really do anything else. I get stuck in waiting mode."
"Same here! I thought it was just me!"
"I think it's an ADHD thing."
"You have ADHD, too?"
"Yep! Got it bad."
"That's crazy!"
"I kind of suspected that you had it. No offense. It sort of takes one to know one."
"I guess that's true. I don't try to hide it. I guess looking back, I can see it in you now."
"It's kind of the basis of my whole character."
"I can see that."
"What park where you thinkin' we go to?"
"Hmm... There's that one in the Gnome Forest that's real pretty. We can go loiter around there!"
"I think I know which one you're talking about. I think it's literally called "Picnic Park" since nearly everybody who visits has a picnic."
"We could do that."
"Maybe. We would have to be careful of the bees, though."
"Oh yeah... I guess we could just walk around."
"If we get hungry, we could always go somewhere."
"The Gnome Forest has a lot of good places to eat."
"Exactly! So... I guess I'll see you then?"
"Yeah!"
"Okay, cool! I'm gonna let you go so I can get some rest. I'm a little tired from working."
"I get it. I'll see you tomorrow!"
"Yep! If anything happens, just call me and let me know!"
"Of course! Goodnight, Theodore."
"G'night, Hazel."

The Second Date
Hazel was ecstatic. She finally got to go on another date with The Noise. At this point, she didn't like him for being a celebrity. She liked him for who he was. Of course, she was amazed that her celebrity crush was interacting with her, but now she saw him as just a regular crush. She had waited for what seemed like forever until it was time to get ready. She didn't want to do anything special to her appearance, but she still wanted to look her best. She went to the vanity and sat in front of it. Her hair was already curled at the ends like she usually kept it.
She hummed in thought. What was she going to wear? She went through her closet and dresser drawers. After several minutes, she finally decided on an outfit; a cropped sleeveless white turtle neck with a cropped pink cardigan with high waisted straight leg jeans and white platform sneakers with pink laces. She grabbed a fuzzy white mini purse to finish her look.
She picked up the phone and dialed a cab. It arrived shortly after, and she ran into it excitedly. "Where to," the cab driver asked?
"Picnic Park in the Gnome Forest," she responded.
The pig man driving the cab nodded and drove off. She watched out the window excitedly as they cruised through the tower. Her heart fluttered in anticipation. They quickly reached the park. She paid and got out. She looked around, but she didn't see Theodore. Even though she knew better, she was worried he wouldn't show. She wandered through the park hoping to find him. He arrived shortly after she did and called out to her. She came running, but she couldn't run very quick in the platforms. When she reached him, she jumped onto him in a hug, nearly knocking him down. He caught her and twirled her around. He smelled pleasantly like a gentle cologne.
"Hey, you," he greeted with a huge smile. He was wearing a white "Thrasher" t-shirt overlapped by a denim jacket with solid black jean pants and black "Vans" shoes.
"Hey," she put her fists to her chest in excitement.
"You look cute," he scanned her from head to toe.
She shrugged her shoulders. "Oh," she giggled, "thanks." She tucked her hair behind her ear. "You look cute, too."
He scratched the back of his head and blushed. "Nah, I look like a mess."
"Shush," she pushed him playfully, "take the compliment."
"Fine, fine."
"So, what were you thinking we do?"
"I don't know. I was hoping maybe to just walk around and," he shrugged, "enjoy the scenery. Talk and get to know each other better. I mean, I've been so busy with work, it'd be a nice change of pace just to talk to you."
She was still smiling. "It sounds like a good idea. I enjoy simple things. I'm not hard to please. Plus, I like the flowers in the park."
"Well, come on," he held out his hand, "let's go."
She looked at his hand with a slightly shocked expression. "Oh," she grabbed his hand, and their fingers intertwined. She smiled once again. "Right." They walked side by side down a stone path. Their arms swung back and forth as they strutted along.
"So," she spoke, "how's everything been? I haven't seen you since..." She chuckled nervously, "I think the last time I saw you was when we bumped into each other at the bar?"
"At the bar," he asked, confused.
"When you were drunk."
"Oh, my gosh." He face palmed with his free hand. "I'm still so embarrassed about all of that."
"Please, you didn't do anything to upset me."
"I acted like a total fool!"
She stopped and pushed his arm to make him face her, their hands still together. "Stop it. You didn't do anything wrong. You were funny, actually."
"Was I? I don't really remember what I said."
"You were giving your pig friend a ton of trouble."
"James? Oh yeah, I always give him shit, especially when I'm drunk."
"He kept yelling at you for hugging me a bunch."
Theo chuckled. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that, too."
"Shut up," she said teasingly. "It was silly. If I didn't like it, I would've just pushed you off. You know I don't take shit."
He laughed again. "It's funny when you're assertive."
"Well, people see my sweet demeanor and assume I'm a pushover. I don't stand for that."
"Oh, yeah, the pushover doesn't stand."
She hit his arm playfully, "Shut up!"
He cackled and nudged her shoulder. "Don't hit me!"
"What, you scared?" She puffed out her chest and taunted him.
He threw her arm over his head and hoisted her over his shoulder. She screeched in surprise and kicked out.
"Put me down," she yelled through laughter. "Put me down!"
"Don't dish it if you can't take it!"
He carried her for a few steps before he put her down gently. She charged at him, but he grabbed her arms. She swung around and kicked at him, both of them laughing hysterically.
"Okay, okay, okay," he said through chuckles, "stop, stop."
She stopped, and he let go of her wrists. "Don't dish it if you can't take it," she spoke in a mocking tone.
"Whatever," he rolled his eyes. "Come on," he grabbed her hand again. "Let's go."
She smiled as she looked at him. "Okay, I'll behave."
"Thank you."
"For now," she giggled.
As they started to walk off, it began to drizzle. The rain started off lightly, but picked up very quickly. Before they could even process it, the rain was pouring down on them. Hazel put her hand up to shield her eyes. Theodore swiftly took off his jacket and held it over her head. "Come on," he said, "let's go to that pavilion." They ran over to a small pavilion. It covered a small patch of concrete and a few picnic tables. They sat at one of the tables across from each other. Theo put his jacket beside him. The two of them looked over and watched the rain.
"Shit, that came out of nowhere," he spoke.
"Yeah, I didn't even know it was going to rain today," Hazel exclaimed.
"It wasn't supposed to! I checked like five times."
"Aw, man." She looked at him. "Theo, you're soaked!"
"Eh, I'm okay."
"You didn't have to shield me. I would've been fine."
"It was first instinct. I mean, you're wearing crop tops."
"But you must be freezing!"
"It's a little cold, yeah. I'll be fine, though."
"No, you're gonna get sick!"
"Hazel, I'll be fine."
She grunted. "Maybe we should just... Go home and change."
"What? We've barely been here for a half hour."
"No, I mean, go home, change, and maybe do something else? We could go get food or watch a movie or something."
"Oh! Yeah, I guess that could work."
"Okay," she pulled her cell phone out of her purse. "I can call a cab and-"
"No, save your money, I'll drive us."
"What? No, no, no, I don't want to be a bother."
"Hazel." He grabbed her hand. "You're not going to bother me. Let me drive you so you don't have to take three different cabs."
"Oh, okay, fine."
"We're gonna have to run through the rain again, though."
"Alright."
The two of them got up, and Theo pulled out his keys. He went to hold his jacket over her head, but she grabbed one side while he held the other. "We'll share it," she said. He chuckled and held part of the jacket over his head, too.
He grabbed her hand. "Ready?"
She nodded at him.
"Okay, go!"
The two of them took off, laughing as they held hands. Rain soaked the jacket held above them. It was a fair distance between them and the parking area. They got to his car, and he let go of the jacket. She held it over her head as she went to the other side. He quickly unlocked the car, and they got in. They caught their breath and continued to laugh. "Holy shit," Theo sighed. His hair was dripping wet and his shoulders were drenched. Hazel only had a handful of drips on her.
"Oh, my gosh," she put her hand on her chest and leaned back into her seat. "I can't believe that just happened." She let out a small chuckle.
"I know, right?" Theo had a huge smile on his face. He suddenly felt nervous as they sat side by side.
"I feel bad getting your nice car all wet."
"Oh this? Nah, it's alright. I wasn't really looking for anything fancy. I mostly bought it so the salesman would leave me the fuck alone."
"What kind of car is it?"
"Cadillac CTS."
"A cadillac?! And you're claiming it isn't nice?" She crossed her arms.
"I'm not saying it isn't. I'm just saying, a little rain water won't hurt it."
"Uh huh, okay, you're not trying to act all humble."
"No, I totally want to impress you with my expensive-ass car," he said sarcastically.
She hit his shoulder jokingly. "Shut up."
He chuckled. "Okay, okay, I'm sorry."
The two of them smiled and made eye contact for a minute. Hazel felt butterflies in her chest. He started up the car and spoke, "Alright, just give me the directions."
"For what?"
"To get to your place."
"You don't want to go to yours, first? You're soaked..."
"I'll be fine."
"Theo!"
"Right or left?"
"Theodore!"
"Right or left?!"
"Oh, my gosh, you're so stubborn!"
He got a worried look on his face. "Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean to upset you."
"What? Oh, no, no, no, no, no! I was just playing with you."
"Oh," he sighed in relief. "Sorry, I just... I actually can be really stubborn, sometimes."
"No, I didn't mean to alarm you." She rubbed his arm, and he smiled at her. "You can take a right out of here. Then at that tree, take a left."
"Okay."
-
It was only a short drive over to Hazel's house. It was a small, humble abode in a normal-looking neighborhood. They pulled up in her driveway, and Theo put the car in park. "Okay," she said as she unbuckled, "come on." Theo gave her a confused look. She nodded her head towards the door. "Let's go."
"Huh," he responded, "I thought I was waiting out here."
"No, that'd be rude. Now, come on!"
Theodore and Hazel quickly got out of the car and ran to the door. She unlocked it as fast as she could, and they went in. Her house was sweet but petite. The walls were a off-white color. She had a small brown love seat couch in front of a T.V. on a wooden stand. On the stand were small decorative dolls. There were family portraits on the walls, as well as some metallic floral decorations. Theo looked around feeling slightly nervous. "Stay here," Hazel poked his chest. "I'll grab you a towel. She turned the corner and opened up a small closet. She grabbed a towel and ran up to Theodore. "Thanks," he smiled as he took the towel and began to dry off his hair. "I'll be back," she spoke as she ran off.
Theodore stood there and waited. He was stiff as a board, he wasn't sure what to do with himself. Her house was incredibly clean. He toweled off his shoulders and tried his best to dry off his shirt. Hazel came out pretty quickly. She came out in a over-sized pastel pink cardigan buttoned up with a lacy white camisole tank top underneath. She also wore straight legged soft pants and white Converse sneakers. Her cardigan was so big that the sleeves covered her hands, but it was one of her favorite shirts. "Sorry," she said, "I figured I'd put on something more comfortable than stylish."
"What do you mean," Theo responded, "you look cute."
She slapped him jokingly with her sleeve. "You say that with anything I wear."
"Cause you look good in everything."
She slapped him repeatedly with her long sleeves. He chuckled and put his arm up as defense. "Okay, come on," she grabbed his hand and headed for the door, "let's go to your place so you can get changed."
"Oh, uh-"
"What? You gonna change in the sewer?"
"Well, my house is sort of... shitty."
She tilted her head and crossed her arms. "Theodore. You said the same thing about your expensive car." She grabbed an umbrella with one hand and his hand with her other. "Now, come on, let's go." She opened up the umbrella as they stepped out, and they ran under the umbrella together until they got to his car.
-
They came into an average neighborhood to a medium-sized house. Hazel was a little surprised. She was expecting something big and fancy like his car was. As they pulled into the driveway, Theo sighed, "Alright, so, I'm gonna warn you now. My house is... old. I've only been in it for a few years, but I'm not necessarily the best at keeping up with cleaning or maintenance. So... It's a little messy."
Hazel shrugged. "What, are you a hoarder or something?"
"No, no. I just... hate cleaning."
"Who doesn't? I doubt your house is as bad as you think it is. You think I'm gonna care if you didn't clean the whole thing before I came here?"
"Um..."
"No! You've barely had time to sleep the last few weeks. I understand if your house is a little messy."
He took a deep breath. "Okay, let's go."
Hazel opened her umbrella and laughed as they ran to the door. Theodore was incredibly nervous. He felt a little insecure of his house at times, and now was especially one of them. He held the door for her. She closed her umbrella and shook off the excess water as she walked in. She turned around and observed her surroundings. There was a leather couch and a glass coffee table over a pale tan rug across from a T.V. on a glass mount. There were family portraits and small pieces of artwork scattered around the walls. Hazel walked in further. "This is what you were worried about?!"
"I know, it's-"
"It's fine, Theodore! It's not messy! Oh, so what? Your glass table has some smudges on it here and there. Oh no!"
"Hazel, please..."
"Theo," she walked up to him and held his upper arms. "You don't have to be insecure. I don't care. You're not a hoarder, you don't have rotting food everywhere, you don't have roaches; your house is fine!"
He sighed. "Okay, I'm sorry. I just... I don't know what came over me."
"Now go get changed before you get a head cold." She patted him on the arm as he walked off. She sat on the couch as she waited. She looked around and saw a photo of a young, tiny Theodore with his mother. She smiled. It was a cute picture.
In his room, Theodore was doing his best not to freak out. Despite his opinion, his house was quite nice and humble. It wasn't super fancy like his car was, but he still couldn't seem to shake the feeling of insecurity. He got changed into a yellow hoodie with an orange hood and strings. He put on some casual black pants and slipped on some checkered slide on canvas shoes. He took a deep breath before he headed back into the living room. Hazel was no longer on the couch...
"Hazel," he called out.
"I'm in here!"
He walked into his kitchen, Hazel was just walking out of it. "Sorry," she said, "I got nosy."
"It's fine..."
"Your house is nice, Theo. It's not a mansion, but it's not a straw hut, either. I'm not going to judge you for having a few dishes in your sink."
"Oh, my gosh," he laughed it off. "You're ridiculous. So, where do you want to go?"
"Huh?"
"Well, we could go grab some food or go watch a movie."
"How about we just stay here?"
"What?"
"We can watch a movie here, right?"
"Oh, uh, I guess. I have a few movies I've been meaning to watch, I just haven't had time."
"Great! We can watch them together."
"Okay..."
Hazel dragged Theodore over into the living room. He had a couple movies on one of the shelves of the T.V. mount.
"You want to choose one," he asked her.
"Yeah, sure." She went over to the mount. She looked through three different DVDs. She hummed as she thought. "This one!" She held it up with excitement.
"Okay, cool." Theo came over and knelt down. He powered on the DVD player and put in the movie. Hazel went over to the couch and waited. As everything was set up, Theo came and sat next to her. She scooted over until they were hip to hip. She leaned her head on his shoulder and wrapped both of her arms around his one. Theo's heart was racing, and his body went stiff. She could feel how tense he was.
"Relax," she said. "I'm not going to hurt you."
"I know," he sighed. "I don't know why I'm so anxious."
"I know why... but I won't say it."
"What?"
"Figure it out." She smiled, remembering what he had said to her when he was drunk.
-
After a few hours, the movie finally came to an end. Hazel and Theodore both had disgruntled looks on their faces. They faced each other.
"So..." Theodore started. "What did you think?"
"It sucked," Hazel exclaimed.
Theo burst into laughter. "Oh, thank fuck, I'm not the only one. I didn't want to seem like I was being cocky since I make movies."
"No, no, that was awful! I mean, the plot made absolutely no sense! It was so rushed. Another hour would've done the movie good."
"And maybe different writers."
"Yes! It was terrible!"
The two laughed together for a moment. "Want to watch another one," Theo asked.
"Maybe. What time is it?"
Theo looked over his shoulder. "It's 6:30."
"No, I should probably be heading home by now."
"Okay."
"I'll call a cab."
"I can drive you."
"I will call a cab. I appreciate you being so nice to me, but I'd really hate to be a bother. Truthfully, I need a little time to decompress."
"Oh, okay. I understand."
Hazel called up a cab, and it wasn't too far away. Theo walked her over to the door, and they hugged their goodbyes. As they pulled away, Theo ran his hand down her arm and grabbed her hand. He looked from her eyes to her lips then back to her eyes with a smile on his face.
"This might seem out of line," he says. "You know what? Nevermind."
Hazel tilted her head. "What?"
"Nothing, nothing."
"Come on." She stood on her toes for a second then back down. "You can tell me."
"I don't want to scare you."
"Whaaat?"
"Um..." He cleared his throat. "Can I kiss you?"
Hazel gasped. "What?!"
"Sorry, sorry, I know that was weird." Theo got incredibly nervous.
"Yes!"
"Sorry-"
"No, I mean, yes, you can kiss me!" She giggled and bounced excitedly.
"Wait, really?" He smiled, a little shocked.
"Yes! Please!"
He chuckled nervously. "Okay, um..." He held the side of her face and closed his eyes as he slowly leaned in. Hazel closed her eyes, but she started squealing and giggling in excitement. Theo pulled back and laughed.
"Sorry, sorry," she giggled, "I just... Hehehehe!"
"Just tell me when you're ready."
She took a few deep breaths. "Okay, I'm ready."
He gently grabbed the side of her neck with his other hand on her hip and leaned in, but she started to smile and squeak again.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" She giggled. She took another deep breath. "I'm ready, I'm ready."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, I promise this time."
"One more time, okay? If you're too nervous, I won't do it."
"No, I'm not nervous. I mean, I am, but I'm also just excited!" She chuckled again.
He grabbed her chin and slowly leaned in. She closed her eyes once he got close. He closed his eyes, leaned his head to the right, and kissed her softly. She put her hands on his jaw as she kissed him back. It wasn't just a small peck. It was a genuine, romantic kiss. He drew back slowly and laughed nervously. "Sorry," he apologized.
"Why are you apologizing? You're soft."
He blushed heavily. "Oh, um-"
"Can we kiss again?"
"What?"
"Can we kiss again?"
"Oh, yeah, um-"
She grabbed him behind the head and pulled him in for a deep kiss. They got lost as they kissed passionately for a few minutes. Theo pulled back and gulped. She laughed at the bashful look on his face.
"Sorry, sorry, sorry," he said.
"For what?"
"I... I don't know."
She smiled at him and shrugged. "Stop worrying about it and come here." She hugged him, and she could feel his body relax in her arms. They swayed slowly side to side. Theo felt his heart rate slow. He felt like he could fall asleep in her arms. He quickly went from awkwardly tense to securely relaxed. The moment was ruined as her cab pulled up and honked. "I gotta go," she spoke with a huge smile. "I'll call you tomorrow, okay?"
Theo smiled. "Okay."
She kissed him on the cheek as a goodbye before she walked out of the door and opened her umbrella. He closed the door and put his back to it. He slid down to the ground and put his hands on his face. He was completely flustered again. He couldn't believe that just happened, he couldn't believe he just did that! He took a few sharp breaths. He went to the bathroom and splashed his face with cold water. He was freaking out a little bit. He kissed her, and she kissed him back. The moment seemed so small but felt so big to him. She made him so nervous but in a good way. When she came around, he was mostly calm, but when she was gone, he couldn't stop overthinking and worrying about ruining it or scaring her away.
But as her cab pulled off, she couldn't stop smiling as she watched out the window. She was so happy that he finally kissed her. It ensured her that he really did like her. He like liked her. Her heart was fluttering, and her legs felt weak. At this point, she felt that she was head over heels for him, and she was almost sure he felt the same way. She kicked her legs as she kept thinking about the kiss; how soft he was, how gentle he was... It kept playing over and over in her head. Then she remembered something. She pulled out her cell phone and sent a text to her friend Lia:
It happened. We kissed.

The Donovan Litter — p. blinders
Tumblr media Tumblr media
previous — masterlist — next
You lacked memories of your mother. Out of her six children, you could recall the very least of her. William, your oldest brother loved to talk about the way she sung as she would make breakfast. Louis could recall how she would sit at each of their bedsides and tell stories before bed. Samuel connected to her through their love for music while Francis missed how she could make any situation positive. Last of your brothers being Theodore. He rarely ever spoke and when he did it was with William in confidence.
The entirety of your life existed in your four bedroom home with in Small Heath. Your brothers shared rooms while you had an entire room to yourself. William, Louis, and Samuel shared the big room leaving Francis and Theodore to the other medium sized room. The fourth room, your mothers room remained untouched. You had never seen the inside of it as the room door was locked at all times. Only once had you almost seen inside of it. You had been home alone on one of the rare occasions that your father decided to make an appearance.
When you opened the door he staggered through, the stench of cheap whiskey and stale cigarettes followed him. He took what he wanted from his family and gave nothing in return. This is all you knew of him your entire life but ironically there was a time when he was a good father. In that time you did not exist, your birthday marking the date of when he became a deadbeat. William telling you how your father spent hours in failed attempts to put your crib together meant nothing. Not just William, Francis could vividly remember the walks to the canal with their father. While Samuel remembered the entire families excitement for your arrival. You shrugged all of this information off as those realities were not your own. Your reality would always have you exist as a poor orphan in Small Heath.
Even now in adulthood your entire family still operated like poor orphans working together to scrape by. When the war rolled around William was the only one drafted, Theodore enlisted leaving Samuel, Francis, and Louis to look after you. By the end of the war William and Theodore returned. Beyond some nightmares William kept his struggles to himself. Theodore on the other hand somehow grew colder than before. You would be lying if you said you knew anything about Theodore or what he did daily. By the end of the month he always brought in his share of the money for the family expenses.
Rain fell hard outside forcing people into the shelter of their homes. You sat at the dinner table with the fund book in hand. Your contribution to the family being the only person in the house good with numbers. Any and all expenses went through you, even the vague ones that Theodore would explain little to nothing on. For a rainy day your household was busier than most. Sometimes you could hear the whispers of others, those damn Donovan kids.
Broken from your thoughts Samuel rushes into the house, his clothes barely on him as water soaks through. He quick locks the door, ignoring your complaints of him soaking the floor.
“Will!” He yells as he runs up the stairs, slamming his bedroom door behind him. After a few seconds he comes down in dry clothes, now damp from his skin. In his hand the key to the gun closet. “What’d you do?”
“Remember Mrs. Baker? Lives by the Shelby’s. Would give us treats when we would lingered near her garden,” Samuel rambles quickly as he unlocks the closest and removes a pistol. He checks the amount of bullets before shoving it into the waistline of his pants.
“Not again. Sam we talked about this,” You whine, Mrs. Baker’s husband was not only a cop but white. Known for his tirades about about the Jews, Gypsies, and Blacks.
“I know, I know, bad idea, eh?” Samuel questions as William walks down the stairs groaning about the noise. At first glance his shoulders fall as he sighs and breaths out Mrs. Baker’s name.
“You are trying to get yourself killed aren’t you? Stop sleeping with that mans wife!” William pinches the bridge of his nose as you cross your arms and the room fills with the rain thundering against the roof. “Did he catch you?”
“Yeah,” Your brother nervously bounces on the balls of his feet under your own and William’s gaze. William calls him an idiot as you point out that poor weather will not stop Pete Baker from reigning hell upon them. Almost as if on cue banging onto the door reach their ears.
“Come on in case he comes through. I’m going to hide him (Y/n) you know the drill. Count to thirty then answer the door,” William and Samuel walk to the cellular doors, you lock it behind them before starting your count. Pete’s banging does not desist as he spews out all kinds of vile names. At the count of thirty you open the door to be met with the tall burly man. His face redder than you have ever seen anyone’s face and you note the gun on his hip.
“Hello Officer Baker. Is there something I can help you with?” You smile, feigning cluelessness as he stands in the open showers. His glare does not falter as he looks past you, his eyes scan your living room.
“Where is he?” His orotund voice pairs well with the ominous glow of the nights rain. You tilt your head still smiling as your eyebrows pull together. A door upstairs opens but no footsteps follow. You pay little attention to this.
“I’m sorry?” Despite the welcoming tone and at ease expression your hearts racing. You take deep breaths to keep your hands from shaking as you clasp them in front of you.
“I have no care for these silly games. Listen here bitch, fetch me Samuel fucking Donovan!” He speaks with a raspy low tone, his voice level as it slowly climbs to a raucous growl while his hand bangs against the side of the door frame. You stand without a single idea of what to say. A frown on your features as you eye his pistol.
“Pete Baker,” Both your own and Pete’s heads whip toward the stairs. Theodore’s modulated tone seemingly silences you both as he sits on the steps with a cigarette. He narrows his eyes at nothing in particular and you find it rather strange to see him without his cap. “Officer Baker. First and foremost get your house in order. Me brother only sleeps with willing woman. Second apologize to my sister, she is a woman treat her with some respect. Lastly threaten my home again and there will be an issue. Do we have an understanding? I don’t take well to threats.”
Pete’s jaw clenches but you watch as his rage does not dissipate but redirect. His apology hollow as he glares at you, but even then you accept it. Theodore tells you to go to your room and you do so without protest. Before your bedroom door closes you hear Baker’s wobbly voice.
“—Shelby know of this?” You wonder what the Shelby’s have to do with anything. Another family of orphans nearby, one would have thought your family and theirs would be friends. Somehow the only interaction you ever truly had was between you, Ada Shelby, and Freddie Thorne. You caught them by the bridge but assured them you would not tell a soul. Besides that Theodore was good friends with John Shelby.
“Francis what the hell?” You whine as your brother cuddles your pillow and blanket. He whines your beds softer as you yell at him for not bathing before he climbed into your bed. Black soot litters small patches of his skin. You grab your extra blanket and pillow from your closet before you exit your room. Theodore unlocks the cellular door as you set up back on the couch. Louis walks down the stairs yawning as he managed to sleep through the entire ordeal. Samuel and William walk back up from the cellar.
“Mrs. Baker again?” Louis laughs as Theodore murmurs it’s not funny and that it needs to stop. Samuel keeps his head hung low while you observe your brothers. Louis and Francis find Samuel’s impulsiveness amusing while Theodore detests it and William grows more frustrated. They all lack was your worry of it, you are certain Samuel meant no harm.
“I don’t go looking for this trouble. She found me,” Samuel said. It’s not long before the tension eases. William, Samuel, and Louis share a smoke. As you voice disgust against it they chat about Mrs. Baker’s sex life. Theodore stands with his own smoke listening closely.
“What are we eating for dinner?” Louis’s question brings a silence over the room as the attention shifts onto you. You frown as Louis was already looking at you and the others slowly join him.
“Aren’t you all just the progressive lot! At one point today did any of you consider what your family may eat for dinner?” The sound of Francis’s slow movements down the stairs fills the silence. He rubs at his eyes as a yawn escapes him, “(Y/n) what’d you make for dinner?”
“Pasta and garlic bread,” You whine sulking into the kitchen as your brothers happily follow you. Dinner carries on like most dinners; everyone talking at once without one discernible conversation.
The next day you stroll around the market with your head in the clouds. For the past ten minutes you stare between two mushrooms, the vendor provides little assistance beyond gushing about their product. Your knowledge on cooking focally being from trial and error, most of your meals were experimental and still your brother were eager for them.
“Let me see that,” You flinch from your thoughts as Polly Gray pulls the mushroom from your right hand and brings it to her nose. Her eyes narrow before doing the same with the mushroom in your left hand. “Get the left one it’s fresh. You can spot a foul mushroom because it’ll have a fish smell to it.”
“Thank you Ms. Gray. I am (Y—“ You stumble over your words as her dark eyes bore into your own. The mushrooms provide you an opportunity to avoid her gaze but as you finish she has already said your full name.
“How can anyone not know of the only girl in the Donovan litter,” Her smile brings you ease as you fiddle with your fingers.
“Be careful legend has it we’re an invasive species,” You say earning a laugh from Polly, the two of you stroll around the market. She speaks to you about her family as if you are Shelby yourself. She rambles about her impulsive nephews and wild card Ada.
“Don’t even get me started with that brother of yours Theo. Some days I forget he is a Donovan and not a Shelby!” She laughs happily as you purchase the final item on your list.
“Theodore is so secretive so he probably is a Shelby,” You smile as she shrugs telling you Shelby’s and Donovan’s are cut from the same cloth.
“Be a dear and help me with these groceries. It’s on your way home is it not?” Polly asks wearing a warm smile to which you return the sentiment. While she does not say a word her eyes glimmer with joy. Polly’s certain you are the perfect girl for her darling Michael.
“Of course Ms. Gray,” You say joining her down the dirt road.
“Just Polly dear,” She says and the two of you fall into comfortable conversation. You listen closely as she speaks of your casually. Much like your brothers do, Polly paints the picture of a cheerful woman. One more than happy to be a mother.
Inside the Shelby residence you get two steps in before a Finn and Arthur Shelby race by.
“Sorry!” The boy yells before disappearing into the next room. Polly yells for Finn to stop running.
“Sorry Aunt Pol,” Arthur grumbles as he enters the room. He looks at you with narrowed eyes before they soon soften with familiarity.
“Theo’s little sister right?” He says, nodding your head you offer your name to which he smiles large. “Arthur Shelby. Hate to break it to you sweet heart. You share a face with a fucking wanker.”
“Many say we look like our Mum,” You chuckle at Arthur and he offers a kind smile to you before excusing himself. Ada comes into the kitchen for a few seconds. Her eyes watch you cautiously before easing as Polly praises your help with the groceries. You shrug it off as nothing before the front door opens.
“Polly I need to speak—we have a guest?” Thomas enters with an urgency that fades at the sight of you. It’s obvious he tries to place a name to your face but before he can John and Theodore enter behind him. Theodore’s laughing—an rarity you cannot say you are accustomed to witnessing. Almost as if you look at a completely different person. In seconds it flushes away at the sight of you.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Theodore questions and you lift up your own groceries explaining your journey from the market. He excuses you both before ushering you out of the front door, taking your groceries from your hand.
“What’s got you in such a foul mood?” You question, groaning as you tread through the muddy ground from the nights heavy rain. Theodore ignores you, the same dejected stare he seemingly only ever offers you. Rolling your eyes continuing to trudge through the mud. “The Shelby’s seem very kind.”
“Under no circumstances do I want you hanging around any of the Shelby’s. Do you hear me?” You flinch back as he stop abruptly swinging his right foot over to turn and stop you in your tracks. He holds his finger out toward you with a sharp look in his eyes. You want to tell him to piss off, call him an ass and continue home. Instead you nod your head knowing the illusion of control brings more answers than active resistance.
Information does not come early. You have no run ins with a single Shelby for weeks. Life goes on as usual, Samuel starting fires and the rest of you putting them out. Theodore being detached as always but unsuspecting. You note how often he leaves at odd hours and returns home quietly, too quiet.
Francis joins you on your walk down to the market. The sun shines unusually bright and Francis complains of Theodore waking him up early.
“Really? I thought I heard something this morning. Where does he even go?” You shrug your shoulders feigning disinterest as Francis rolls his eyes.
“Don’t make the mistake of asking. I did once and he threatened to break my arm. Cocky little shit. My little brother thinks he’s snapping my arm,” Francis scoffs as you nod your head absentmindedly. Theodore can without a doubt snap Francis’s arm, as he feigns disbelief you say nothing. The conversation telling you nothing about Theodores secret life he rather aggressively hides from you all. In the market Francis touches things as you swat your hand back toward him and focus on your list. “I’ll be two seconds. Yell for me if you need me.”
“Yeah sure,” You mutter not looking back as your eyes scan the vendor stands. Stopping by the horses you smile at Mr. Strong who brushes the fur of a beautiful black horse. “Hello, Mr. Strong!”
“You never quit with the formalities do you (Y/n)?” Mr. Strong asks as you join him next to the horse. You shake your head while gently rubbing at the back of the horses neck. “In the market for a horse?”
“I wish. What’s his name?” You ask, smiling as he nudges you with his nose, giggling you keep your eyes on him as Mr. Strong reveals his name to be Midnight.
“I think Midnight likes you. He doesn’t like anyone,” Mr. Strong explains, he watches how Midnight eases into your touch. You almost forget you stand in the middle of a fairly busy market.
“Wasn’t aware you got a new stable hand Charlie,” Your head whips to find Thomas’s eyes boring into your own.
“Oh no I’m not just saying hi is all,” You manage out turning back to Midnight as you clear your throat hoping one of them will steer the attention away from you.
“That’s a shame. You’re good with him,” He says, lighting a smoke before turning away. Mr. Strong raises an eyebrow as he watches Thomas walk away before turning his attention back to you.
“How come midnight has no owner?” You ask, readjusting your bag on your shoulder and Mr. Strong chuckles.
“Make no mistake he has an owner,” He says and you frown but his amusement soon makes sense as the name leaves his lips, Thomas Shelby.

🌱leaves rustling with Theodore Nott (Theo taking you on a surprise picnic date)

That’s alright, darling ♡. This is also a cute request. Again, I don’t know how this turned out to be but do tell me how this was! The setting is of muggle au. Also, there is a tiny surprise too! I hope you like it!
You awoke to the sound of birds chirping and the sunbeams descending on your soft skin. You turn around to hear the alarm clock. It was quite irritating. You took it in your hands and turned it off. A piece of paper fell during the procedure, and your attention was drawn to it. You stopped the clock and went to pick up the paper that had fallen. It read-
Meet me at 3 p.m.
By the lake. I have something for you.
T.N
The message made you smile. You expected today to be a typical, monotonous, and ordinary day. This, on the other hand, made you smile. You sighed, and the paper remained on the table. You eagerly anticipated your wonderful boyfriend's plans.
The clock struck three when you looked at it. You were dressed comfortably but elegantly. You took one final glance in the mirror before heading to where Theo indicated you needed to be.
As you approached the lake, you noticed a figure standing there. It was Theo, and as soon as he noticed you arriving, his gaze was drawn to you. He couldn't take his gaze away from you because of your beauty.
You got close to him and pecked his lips, but he kept looking into your eyes. His thoughts had taken over.
"What exactly are you staring at?" You inhaled deeply because you were so close to him. He kissed you again and said, "I don’t know, something enchanting."
He took your hand in his and led you to a little tent that had been set up after your short and sweet kiss. You couldn't tell what it was from afar, but as you got closer, you noticed that your lover had planned a picnic for you.
You hugged him closely and noticed a bouquet, a cake, some food items, a bottle of champagne, and some of the books you enjoy reading.
"This is adorable, Theo. This is beautiful. I love it." You glanced at him and said, "Thank you so much." As he kissed the side of your temple, he whispered, "I know you needed a break from everything, so I decided to do this much for you, sweetie."
The day was spent reading your favourite novels, eating the food Theo had prepared just for you, making jokes, talking about things you both find fascinating, and being grateful for having such a loving boyfriend.
The sky was orange, indicating that sunset was approaching, and the two of you got up and proceeded to your home.
"It was a lot of fun tonight," you said. "I think we should do it more often." Theo nodded and came to a complete halt. You turned around to discover he'd come to a complete halt, and you asked, slightly puzzled, "What happened?"
Looking at you, Theo stated, "I can't do this anymore." Your smile faded, and your heart began to race, prompting you to question, "Wha-what do you mean?"
"I've wanted to do this for a long time." As he got closer to you, you became more puzzled and concerned. "Y/n, I want to spend the rest of my life with you," he said, holding your hands. "You make me complete. I don't believe there is such a thing as life without you. Would you y/n y/l/n marry this jerk who is madly in love with you?" He knelt and held a ring box in his hands, which contained a beautiful ring filled with diamonds.
This feeling caught you off guard and overwhelmed you. You smiled and nodded, tears running down your cheeks. "I was terrified to death when you said that I couldn't do this anymore," you remarked as he slipped a ring on your finger and returned to hug you. Never do something like that again! "
With the sun setting in the background, the two of you shared a long, passionate kiss. It was quite a sight.
And this was all for you.

Kira always prided herself as the model eldest daughter in her family. She was beloved by her teachers, envied by some of her classmates even though she shared kindness towards everyone she came into contact with, and still managed to tolerate the excruciating strict household her parents shrouded above the entire family. An attempt at a rivalry between sisters as if they were pawns for entertainment was unsuccessful which allowed her relationship with Kaia to thrive the most. The close bond spanned through their adulthood when Kira married and gave birth to her daughter Cora. All was still well for the woman from those few years moving forward until tragedy struck the family she was building. While her and Cora spent the entire day shopping for the upcoming holidays, someone broke into the house and murdered her husband in cold blood. She didn't know it at the time, but an assassin had targeted the man and kickstarted a saga that involved her sister in ways she couldn't fathom.
To say the fates of the Devereaux siblings and that of the Morris sisters were seemingly written into the fabric of reality was a vast understatement. Kira loved her sister more than anything, more than life itself, so much so that any man she brought home was never enough. Those boyfriends weren't the cleanest in terms of reputation, earning their parents' disapproval at every turn, and she knew Kaia accomplished this dramatic feat on purpose. The rebellious side never ceased after the teenager years and nothing proved the case better than when her younger sister began dating Archie Devereaux. He was polite, certainly a true gentleman, but his arrogance left a rotten taste in her mouth she couldn't move past. Despite this, that didn't prevent Kaia from marrying and having a son with him.
Then there was the subject of Grayson. Just as arrogant as his brother, handsome, and a man Kira desperately denied falling for. It began innocently enough, showing manners and a flirtatious back-and-forth she thought she was too stubborn to be seduced by over the long years. Tumultuous, thrilling, but one single problem it hosted? An admittance of defeat on Kira's end, something she would rather take to her grave than confess her feelings for a Devereaux. She finally relented one day, though their relationship remained a secret even from Kaia who knew every part of her sister like her own hand. Kira wasn't ashamed necessarily, but the pride all Morris women possessed was the source of blame. So, it had been decided that she and Grayson needed to pretend as if they hated the other to make what the oldest siblings from two respective families were doing behind closed doors easier. The solution? Fool the world.
The only other person besides Kaia it hurt Kira more keeping the secret hidden from was Theodore. Her and Teddy always carried this level of understanding, particularly when the conversation matter concerned their shared frustrations with Archie's career choices. She knew about where his fortune came from, she knew Kaia loved him regardless, and she certainly knew the truth about the blood on his hands that brought Archie and her sister together. Yet, she was sworn to secrecy, just as her nephew had been. A family affair, one massive secret, at least it brought a little satisfaction for Kira that Theodore did not idolize the man the way her daughter had.
Teddy's birthday dinner brought her and Grayson to the Devereaux family's doorstep that evening. It might have been a mistake arriving together as every occasion previous saw the couple agree on showing up to parties at different times to prevent suspicion from arising, but Kira had grown so comfortable with obtaining the ruse, that her inhibitions slipped. It usually took a longer moment after ringing the doorbell before someone answered, so she couldn't resist leaning forward and pressing a kiss to Grayson's lips. What Kira hadn't counted on, however, was the quicker response from an occupant than usual. As she was breaking apart from the kiss, the door slowly opened, granting the person a perfect view of what just transpired. A sight one shouldn't witness from two people who supposedly despised each other. "Teddy!" Kira exclaimed, creating space between her and Grayson the minute her gaze landed on her nephew. The action almost caused the woman to drop his present. "I swear, it's not what it looks like."

Read this please
hey, hello. I have a idea I wanna submit to Netflix, but before I do,
I want your guys opinion.
'Alan Decker, is a scientist who works on creating unique and enhanced flavors. He has already worked a miracle on a small cafe right down his street, by giving them one of his recipe's. Only because it was the only cafe near him and the only one that had good potential. But one day, as he was going to get his regular coffee, he saw an eviction note. he asks why they were getting evicted, and Turns out, they were drug dealers who haven't been paying their rent for months now. Irritated, He decides to help out the new cafe just beside his house(lab??). He goes back home and get some stuff before entering the cafe, where he was greeted by -probably- the only employee there. He sat down, and to the surprise of the waiter, He ordered every pastry and beverage in the menu. Surprisingly, the waiter took only a few minutes to ready 20 Drinks and 35 Pastries. He ate every single one and to no one's surprise, it all taste like shit, he wants to help the poor cafe to get it up and running, so, he asks to speak to the manager. the waiter looked down and asked 'is it that bad?' this was probably the first time Alan felt bad for an employee, but he decided to be straight forward with him, 'yes.' He walks to where the waiter was pointing, and saw a man sitting holding his head, the manager and the landlord, he grabs the attention of the man and asks him he could buy the land off him, the man looked bewildered and came to his knees' 'please! I'm sorry for what I've done this time! I have a husband and child to take care of' he rolled his eyes and told him to stand up, 'no, that's not the reason why I wanna buy the land,' he went on explaining to him that he wanted to help out in ways. The man agreed, seeing that this could help him and the person working there. The waiter introduced himself as Theodore, and the manager as Javier. and so, Alan , Theo, And Javier, work together to make the best cafe. after a few weeks', the cafe finally got some attention, and in some months', the cafe was filled to the brim every day. one night, Theodore, offered to pull an all nighter to clean and watch Javier's, child(a cat) and both agreed, as Javier, had a date to go to, and Alan, wanted to sleep. Alan's phone is connected to the security system of the cafe, and so if any alarms get triggered, his phone will blare in a unusual way. he woke up to the blaring and checked the camera's first, and to his surprise, he saw a bunch of people making molotov cocktails'. He grabbed his coat and ran to the cafe,(I know his house is right beside the cafe, but he sleeps underground,) once he arrived, he saw the place in flames, he then saw Javier, and told him to call 911 and the fire department, he took of his coat and slippers then went it. he ran down the stairs to get to the underground floor, and when he got down, the first thing he saw was Theo on the ground hugging the cat to his chest, he saw Javier, beside him, so he told him to grab the important papers', and with that done, they ran back up stairs. when they arrived back up to the surface, the doctors took Theo, and the firemen took out the fire, Alan, told the police who did it and showed them the proof. now that the people who did this are in jail, and Chris is recovering, Alan, felt relief. He was worried about Theo, a bit to much honestly, a few days later, Theo, was discharged from the hospital, all well and fully recovered. and when everything was getting better, the people who had caused the fire escaped from jail, they decide to hide out in Alan's mother's attic for a while(a week) during the days staying there, some kind of tension was building around Theo, and Alan, soft brushing of hands and learning new things about each other, turns out, Theo, is really good at drawing and he has a sketch book filled with doodles,(I think you know who). a week passed by really fast, and now there back standing in front of the burnt cafe. They decided to rebuild the cafe together, better and bigger than before.
During the attic stay and the rebuilding, Javier, noticed the change of relationship between the two boys, and thought that either they were dating, or they both have an oblivious crush on each other. I think its obvious which choice it is. He decides to pull Alan to the side and ask him how he feels about Theo, which to his surprise, Alan was all open to how he feels and told him everything, and now, He has a famous scientist who has a HUGE crush on the person he has always thought of as a son, and all of the sudden he made it his life priority to make his son happy.
eventually, the cafe was finished and as they said, it was bigger and better than before, and the tension between Alan and Theo? it hasn't lessened that much actually, it more likely gained, The tension gained attention from a bunch of high school girls, who kept on recording the two. With all the mindless flirting and the unresolved sexual tension between the two, he decided enough is enough, (its Javier btw) after six months, he finally decides to make Alan do the first move, Alan was scared, but he agreed knowing, even if he was rejected, he would be able to finally get rid of the heavy lump on his chest. and on a winter night, he asks Theodore out, and to his surprise, he agrees, he set up the time and place and is filled with relief that he agreed.
They meet in front of the café and its snowing around them, Alan hid the Bouquet behind his back and looked at Theo, He opens his mouth to speak, but when nothing came out he closed it. he cleared his throat and revealed the Bouquet, Theodore looked bewildered and asked 'for me?' he just nods as Theo took the flowers, he finally confessed 'Theo, I like you a lot, like, a lot, a lot. I like you for your determination and your... face?, I uhm.. Like you for taking care of me even though you were the one who needed taking care of, thank you for your never ending patience and kindness, and thank you for putting up with my attitude, but all I really want to say is, that... I love you' He closed his eyes and was ready to get yelled at, but when he felt a warm tingle against his lips, he re-opened his eyes to see Theodore leaning on him, He leaned in too and finally felt something worth living for.
THIS TOOK ME WAY TO LONG TO WRITE, anyways, I hope you guys like it, and for visual think of Theo as Jamie campbell bower, Alan as Joseph Quinn, And Javier as Oscar isaac, But thats only my visual so get wild with your visual on them;)
If this gets enough likes (atleast 1k or above) im gonna send this idea to netflix.( as a joke, but please like this)

We have a new citizen in Mount Phoenix:
Theodore Bang, who is also known as Theo,                                      a 24 year old son of Hathor.                               He is a paramedic with the MPFD.
FC NAME/GROUP: Christopher Bang / Bang Chan, Stray Kids CHARACTER NAME: Theodore “Theo” Bang AGE/DATE OF BIRTH: 24; April 3, 1998 PLACE OF BIRTH: Melbourne, Australia OCCUPATION: Paramedic with the MPFD HEIGHT: 171 cm WEIGHT: 65 kg DEFINING FEATURES: Dimples, naturally wavy/curly hair. "MMVII" tattooed on the inside of his right wrist, "MMXXI" tattooed on the inside of his left wrist; honouring the death years of his family and grandmother respectively.
PERSONALITY: Theo is optimistic and cheerful, always eager to brighten the day of those around him. He is constantly striving to improve himself and do the very best he can to help people through his work. Definitely the self-sacrificing type, he will power through exhaustion, hunger and pain (if necessary) to make sure that people in bad situations get the help that they need.
He cherishes his friends and loved ones, keeping them close for fear that they may be ripped away from him like his family was. He is not naive or dumb, but he can be rather oblivious and distracted, often having a lot of things on his mind - making him easily fit into the himbo stereotype.
HISTORY: [TW: family death]
Theo was born in Melbourne, after his father had an affair with a woman who disappeared into thin air, leaving the baby behind. A couple of years later, his father married an Australian woman who already had two daughters. Theo grew up adoring his older sisters, vaguely aware that they were not actually related, but loving them all the same. He was just a loving kid, and he always had been. Everyone who met him said that he was a ray of sunshine personified, and they affectionately called him “Teddy”.
Tragedy struck when he was nine years old. On the way home from a family trip, a drunk driver swerved into their lane and hit their car head-on. Disoriented and nursing a broken leg, Theo dragged himself out of the car and watched his family members die while they waited for help to arrive. When the EMTs finally rushed over to the car, he was the only one left.
After that, he was sent to live with his paternal grandmother in Korea - the only living relative the authorities could locate. Theo tried not to dwell on the horrible accident, although he was not nearly as happy as the child his grandmother remembered visiting only a few months previously. It took the better part of a year for him to start acting like himself again. When the first anniversary of the accident rolled around, he told his grandmother that he wanted to become a paramedic.
“I never want anyone to die because there’s no one there to help them. I’m gonna help them.”
After that, he opened up again - he started making friends at his new school and getting better grades. His teen years were fairly happy ones. He kept himself busy; studying hard, joining his high school swim team, and taking a part-time job at a convenience store to help out his grandmother. They did not have a lot of money, but he never felt like he wanted more. He was just thankful that he had his grandmother to support him.
Once he had graduated high school, he went to university for a BS in Emergency Medical Services. He began hitting the campus gym before classes, knowing that being physically fit would only help with his career goals.
His grandmother died three months before he was set to graduate. Theo was devastated. He felt like the floor had fallen out from under him. Nothing mattered anymore. How could it, when the one person who had always been there for him was gone?
He withdrew from his classes and took a six month break from university, trying to work through his grief and find direction again. He hit the gym even harder, working out until he nearly passed out. When that didn’t work, he went back to swimming and took up pottery, just trying to find some peace.
Eventually, he just felt sick of feeling sorry for himself. Or maybe he had given himself the time he needed to heal and he was ready to get his life back on track. Regardless, he finished off his last semester of school and graduated. Only a few weeks later, he started working at the Asan Medical Center in Seoul.
The work was tiring and draining most days, but he liked that it kept him busy. He liked that he could help people who were scared and hurt, whether it was by saving them or by making them comfortable in their final moments. It was always horrible when a patient died, but he knew that he always did his best to save them - and he had to be okay with the fact that some people were just too hurt or sick for anyone to help them, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to handle the job.
He was six months into the job when he finally decided that he needed to clean out his grandmother’s apartment. Up until that point, he had left all of her things untouched, but the building was old and there were a lot of issues. Since he had a dependable salary now, he was starting to think about moving to a nicer place. Which meant going through, and getting rid of, his grandmother’s things.
It was hard. He felt like he was doing something disrespectful; putting her clothes and books in bags to take to a thrift store, taking her jewelry to be appraised at a pawn shop. He kept a few small things, but he knew that it was best to let most of it go.
He was nearly done cleaning out her room when he stumbled upon a book that his grandmother used to read to him when he was young. He hadn’t realized she still had it, but the fact that she had filled him with warmth. To his surprise, though, an envelope fell out of the book when he opened the yellowed pages. It had his name on it.
The note inside spoke of a woman names Hathor -his birth mother, apparently- and an island called Mount Phoenix. “When I am no longer here, this is a place where you will be safe,” it read. Theo was not sure if he believed any of it, but since he had already been planning on moving… Well, why not, right?
PANTHEON: Egyptian CHILD OF: Hathor POWERS: Theo feels a natural protective instinct towards women, to the point that he will happily put himself in harm’s way to protect them, even if they are a stranger. He is also very charming, able to put a smile on someone’s face and erase their worries just by being around them - an effect that can last even a few hours after they have left his presence. STRENGTHS: Very physically fit, charming, has an optimistic and flexible go-with-the-flow attitude. WEAKNESSES: Overworks himself, always puts the needs of others over his own, has a hard time processing negative emotions.

First Declaration of War
Here I learned that the hundred years' war on Palestine dated so far back to late 1870s-1890s, the time of the arrival of the first European Jewish Settlers. The mayor of Jerusalem at that time was welcoming. He said Zionism in principle is a pure, natural idea: to have a place for your own people. But he stated that Palestine already had its own indigenous people, we wouldn't want to be superseded. The mayor pleaded that Palestine be left alone. The leader of the early Zionism movement, Theodore Herzl, ignored the plea, he said, they would come to Palestinian land bringing their wealth and intelligence and so it will benefit the Palestinians. Contrary, in his diary, he wrote about how important it is to have land for his own people and get rid of Palestinian's poor society.
In around 1917, British took over Palestine from Ottoman Empire, then came out the Balfour Declaration which in summary stated that UK was all in for the creation of a Jewish State in the land of Palestine, not regarding the fact that there were already people living there. Also in irony, that same UK Govt was the one who made 1905 Aliens Act to "control" the immigration of Jews from Russia who needed help, to the Britain.
In the 1920s, it became clear how unfair the world leaders were acting. The British government especially was very keen on supporting Zionism. They allowed unlimited immigration of Jewish people to Palestine, and yet their own country did not accept immigration. The author made notes of the hypocrisy, and so did notable Palestinian journalist at that time, Isa Al Isa.
Additionally, in the 1920s, the League of Nations issued on Mandate which was so clearly not in Palestine's favour. The mandate helped the Zionism agenda to grow, while depriving Palestinian of its own freedom. For example, the mandate allowed Jewish immigrants to get Palestinian nationality but did not allow Palestinian who emigrated to other country the same nationality when they came back.
The elite politicians of Palestine tried to negotiate or such with British government but they were ignored. All their demands were not listened. Things got worse for the Palestinian. In the countryside, Jewish could buy land which was already inhabited by native Palestinian, taking over the land, leaving the Palestinian homeless.
At some point, rebels and revolts were born, which of course led to violence being thrown back at them again by the British government who was in charge.
Palestine at that time was triple-binded, by the Zionism movement, by the British government who fully supported the Zionsim (making rules, providing armies and such), and even by League of Nations via its mandate.
Second declaration of War
It talked mostly about events leading to the Nakba and what happened after it.  Israel was heavily backed by UK and then the US. At first, international intervention offered a partition resolution, separating Palestine into a Jewish state and Arab state, obviously unfairly, they wanted to turn a mostly Arab parts of Palestine into a Jewish state. The resolution did not take place. Then Israel did raids and stuff, forcing a lot of Palestinians to flee their homes, becoming refuges and being scattered all over the world. The lands owned by the Israelis were unfairly brought or even stolen. The author drew a clear contrast between Palestine and Israel: Palestine severely lacked resources, no unity, no strong institution, no strong understanding of global politics and such (and I think it's because the Palestine was not even given the chance to self-govern). While Israel do, and thus they managed to get attention from the western world.
Other Arab countries were not supportive of the Palestine cause either, some even blatantly side with Israel because of their own agenda.
There were resistance from the Palestinian (most notably the founding of Fatah, a Palestinian National Liberation Movement). There were discreet attacks by Palestinian activist, but of course Israel always retaliated and at the end Palestine remained the losing side.
Third declaration of War
Here the author explained the machinations behind 6-Day War. A war in which "Israel defeated three Arab armies, gained territory four times its original size, and became the preeminent military power in the region.
During that time, Israel was so good at playing victim. " "Yet the myth prevails: in 1967, a tiny, vulnerable country faced constant, existential peril, and it continues to do so. This fiction has served to justify blanket support of Israeli policies, no matter how extreme, and despite its repeated rebuttal even by authoritative Israeli voices."
This chapter also talked about the establishment of Palestine Liberation Organization, an organisation founded by the Arab League to control Palestinian activism. It initially wanted to create an Arab state in all of Palestine including the ones that were taken by Israel, but then it's open to the creation of Arab statehood in the Palestinian territories (the West Bank and the Gaza Strip) that have been militarily occupied by Israel since the 1967 Arab-Israeli War.
Fourth Declaration of War
This chapter broke me so profoundly. It talked about the events prior to Sabra and Shatila Massacre. In 1982, PLO occupied Beirut, Lebanon, home to Palestinians refugee and Lebanese. Around that time, Lebanon civil war was also raging on. Israel wanted to abolish PLO once and for all. At the end, PLO surrendered but they asked for reassurance of protection for the inhabitants there. PLO then moved away, leaving the habitants there defenseless. But then, Israel, via Lebanese Force still slaughtered innocent civilians in the area because they thought PLO was still there, which was not the truth. This action was approved by the US. Lebanese Forces carried out the massacre while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had the Palestinian camp surrounded, leading to the death of hundreds to thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese civilians.
Fifth declaration of war
1987, the rising of the first intifada, which is a Palestinian resistance against Israeli Occupation. The youth of Palestines threw protests and the uprising was mostly nonviolent. "From the beginning of the First Intifada to the end of 1996—nine years, including six when the intifada was ongoing—Israeli troops and armed settlers killed 1,422 Palestinians, almost one every other day. Of them, over 20 percent, were minors sixteen and under. One hundred and seventy-five Israelis, 86 of them security personnel, were killed by Palestinians during the same period. That eight-to-one casualty ratio was typical, something one would not have known from much of the American media coverage."
The rising of the intifada shifted public opinion on Palestine, because finally the world was seeing Israel's true color. Palestinian leaders at that time, the PLO, took this chance. They sought to be given a chance for their voices to be heard. They were invited to Madrid Conference that resulted in the Oslo Accord. The first agreement between Palestine and Israel. Sadly, the agreement was more like a trap, because it was mostly designed by Israel itself.
Sixth declaration of War
Here the author explained further about the situation in Palestine after the Oslo Accord.
The Oslo Accord actually allowed Israel to broaden their occupied territories and "strengthen" security against Palestinian who lived in Israel area, Gaza and the West Bank. It gave more chance for Israel government to treat Palestinians as if they're second-class citizen. This left Palestinian to be disappointed in their own leaders (who agreed to Osco Accords) and that left room for Hamas to gain Palestinians support.
Hamas mindset was different than other Palestinians organisations. It resorted to violence more. They did suicide bombings in Israel area, which was an act of revenge, but in the opinion of the author, did nothing to help the Palestinian cause. Obviously Israel always retaliated in a much worse way, resulted in hundreds or thousands of innocent Palestinians death. And obviously, it is still only Hamas that's labeled as terrorist.
This chapter explained the situation in Palestine in 2000-2014 which was still similar to today's situation. Palestinians living in their own land not having a decent life, treated as if they're beneath Israelis, depriving them of the life they deserve, beating them, putting them in jail and such. Hamas resisting through violence. Israel retaliation which was and is always a genocide. A totally disproportionate "war."
With public opinion slowly shifting towards Palestinian side, yet the world leaders and those who can intervene...still choose not to do anything.

Etymology
South Dakota was admitted to the Union on November 2, 1889, as the 40th state of the United States. Its name comes from the Lakota and Dakota Sioux Native American tribes, which means "friend" or "ally." The state is also known as the "Mount Rushmore State" due to its famous Mount Rushmore National Memorial, a sculpture carved in granite that features the faces of four US presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. But the name "Dakota" has a much deeper meaning. It originates from the Sioux word "Dakota," which translates as "friend" or "ally." The state motto, "Under God, the People Rule," reflects the democratic principles upon which the United States was founded. Before becoming a state, South Dakota was part of the Dakota Territory, established in 1861. The territory was split in two in 1889, with North Dakota and South Dakota becoming separate states. Despite being equal in population, North Dakota was admitted to the Union first, earning the title of the 39th state, while South Dakota became the 40th. South Dakota's history is deeply intertwined with the Native American tribes that have lived there for thousands of years. The Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota tribes were the first inhabitants of the area, with their presence dating back to the paleo-Indian period. French and Spanish explorers arrived in the area in the 17th century, followed by American fur traders and adventurers. In the late 19th century, the discovery of gold in the Black Hills, located in western South Dakota, sparked the famous gold rush that brought thousands of people to the area. Later, the Homestead Act of 1862 encouraged pioneers to settle in South Dakota, leading to the establishment of many towns and farms. Today, South Dakota is a diverse and vibrant state with a rich cultural heritage. It is a popular destination for tourists, offering a range of activities such as hiking, camping, skiing, and wildlife viewing. The state is also home to many famous figures, including presidents, actors, musicians, and authors. South Dakota's unique combination of history, culture, and stunning scenery makes it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the rich diversity of America.
History
South Dakota is a state rich in history, dating back to prehistoric times. The first inhabitants of the area were the Native Americans, who inhabited the region for thousands of years before the arrival of European explorers. French and Spanish traders and explorers made their way through South Dakota in the late 17th century. However, the most significant events in South Dakota's history occurred during the 19th century. In 1803, the United States government purchased the Louisiana Territory from France, including the land that would later become South Dakota. Lewis and Clark traveled through the area in 1804 and 1806, mapping the region and making friendly contact with local tribes. The Homestead Act of 1862, which encouraged westward migration by granting land to settlers who would develop it, spurred the growth of white settlements in South Dakota. The area became part of the Dakota Territory in 1861, and in 1889, it was split into North and South Dakota. The discovery of gold in the Black Hills in 1874 attracted a rush of prospectors and settlers to the area, leading to tensions between the Native Americans and the newcomers. This culminated in the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876, where General George Custer and his troops were defeated by a coalition of Native American tribes. The late 19th century and early 20th century were marked by conflict, including the Wounded Knee Massacre in 1890, where over 150 Native Americans were killed by U.S. soldiers, and the forced removal of the Dakota people to reservations. South Dakota became a state on November 2, 1889, with Pierre as its capital. Today, the state's rich history is celebrated in museums and historic sites throughout the region. - Notable events in South Dakota's history include: - The 1804-1806 expedition of Lewis and Clark through the area - The signing of the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868, which established peace between the United States and the Sioux tribes - The discovery of gold in the Black Hills in 1874 and subsequent gold rush - The Wounded Knee Massacre of 1890 - The establishment of Mount Rushmore National Memorial in 1927 South Dakota's history is a rich tapestry of Native American culture, European exploration, westward expansion, and conflict.

Below is a chart showing the average temperature and precipitation levels in South Dakota by month: Month Average Temperature (°F) Average Precipitation (in) January 14.3 0.44 February 20.7 0.54 March 30.1 1.18 April 42.4 2.07 May 53.1 2.95 June 62.0 3.34 July 66.4 2.89 August 64.4 2.61 September 54.7 1.76 October 43.2 1.52 November 27.5 0.63 December 18.2 0.43 the climate in South Dakota may be unpredictable, but the state's unique weather patterns and seasonal variations make it a fascinating destination to visit.
Environmental Issues
South Dakota is known for its natural beauty and unique ecology, but it is not without its share of environmental issues. One of the most pressing issues facing the state is wildfires, which can devastate vast areas of forests and grasslands. In recent years, South Dakota has experienced some of its largest wildfires on record, which have caused widespread damage to wildlife habitats and threatened homes and communities. Another major issue is water pollution, which can come from various sources, including agricultural runoff, wastewater discharges, and mining operations. This can be particularly harmful to aquatic ecosystems and can also pose serious risks to human health. South Dakota has implemented several measures to reduce water pollution, including stricter regulations on industrial discharges and conservation efforts to preserve wetlands and other sensitive habitats. Endangered species are also a concern in South Dakota, where several species are at risk of extinction due to habitat loss, climate change, and other factors. Some of the endangered species in the state include the black-footed ferret, the swift fox, the pallid sturgeon, and the whooping crane. Conservation efforts are underway to protect these and other endangered species and to restore their habitats in the state. South Dakota also faces other environmental issues, such as air pollution, soil erosion, and the spread of invasive species. Read the full article

NAME: Barrett Valentina FACE CLAIM: Melissa Barrera AGE & DATE OF BIRTH: 31 & October 31st, 1991 HOMETOWN: Brooklyn, New York City, New York TIME IN LOS ANGELES: Raised in LA, returned in October 2022 NEIGHBORHOOD: Downtown Los Angeles OCCUPATION: Firefighter
biography.
trigger warning: abandonment, teen pregnancy, death.
Halloween 1991, Brooklyn, New York was it's usual bustling self with it's streets filled with party goers dressed up to the nine in their best costumes ready for a day full of tricks and treats. Yet, for young Rosa who had only recently turned 16, it was far from your typical Halloween. Heavily pregnant by a man she had only met once and he wanted nothing to do with the teen, Rosa knew she wasn't prepared to care for herself, let alone a baby. Inexperienced and overwhelmed led the girl to do what she needed to survive, if not there would never have been a chance of a future for anyone. Amongst the crowds fled Rosa, heading for somewhere she'd be undetected as the pains grew stronger. Late into the evening came, Rosa found herself on the block of the fire station when she knew what had to be done. That night, an underweight but otherwise healthy, baby girl was left on the doorstep, blanket sodden from the pouring rain and tempered cries in between the sound of roaring crowds from afar.
Barely two weeks had passed before baby girl found herself in the arms of Theodore and Grace Valentina, a doting couple from Los Angeles who heard about the baby abandoned at the fire house through close friends they had been staying with. After years of yearning for a child with no hope, it seemed this tiny bundle of joy had arrived with perfect timing. Once everything had been processed correctly, the Valentina's returned home to LA with their new daughter, Barrett Isabella. Growing up, Barrett was your picture perfect child, she was happy, healthy and loved, what more could you ask for? Barrett thrived off being the best she could be, her parents taught her you had to work hard for whatever you wanted and life wasn't always handed to you on a silver platter. It wasn't a struggle for the family to make it through life, there was always a roof over her head and each birthday and Christmas that went by Barrett was spoilt to the best of her parents ability, but there was always that doubt there for them that they were not giving her the life she deserved.
Flying through school with above average grades, Barrett was destined to do well, it just seemed she couldn't figure out what that destiny was. Moving on to once she had graduated college, Barrett bounced around a few different jobs before realising she felt a strong pull to the fire service, something she always felt connected to but could never understand why. The Valentina's had been reluctant to explain her entry into the world, they were unsure of how Barrett would take the news and of course their main purpose in life was to protect their daughter. A short while later, Barrett revealed to her parents she was going to apply to be a firefighter, the girl had always been pretty fearless and had very much so always pursued adventure in her daily life and now it seemed there was no stopping her. Whilst going through the process of applying, searching for her birth certificate Barrett came across an adoption paper, clearly stating Theodore and Grace Valentina had adopted the baby girl in 1991. Needless to say, Barrett couldn't comprehend the news she had just found out. It rippled through the girl way more than she had ever expected and it suddenly felt as though her whole life had been a lie, this world she was living in wasn't meant to be hers.
In a strange turn of events, Barrett decided she needed out of the life she was currently living and headed for Seattle, Washington where she completed her fire training and begun a new life for herself. It was odd, the resentment she abruptly felt towards Theodore and Grace, some would even say she was an awful person for feeling this way towards the people that essentially rescued her from a life of unknown. Of course she felt grateful for the upbringing she had so far and there were definitely people who were far worse off than herself, however the girl found it far too difficult to wrap her head around everything. She knew she needed to find herself again and it seemed cutting all those around her off, however harsh and wrong it felt, was what Barrett needed deep down.
Life moved fast whilst in Seattle, Barrett climbed the ranks at work and found herself in the race for Captaincy whilst also pursuing her love life behind the scenes. She dated around, nothing ever too serious until she found what seemed like the classic 'the one'. Barrett hated to admit it, as she had always found commitment difficult, but this time felt different. The relationship moved swiftly and suddenly, Barrett falling head over heels and genuinely feeling the happiest she had in a while. Engagement was on the cards, she'd seen the ring in his jacket pocket, which in fact scared Barrett far more than anything, but maybe this was her calling - she was beginning to find her meaning in life. However, shortly after the proposal, Barrett found his lifeless body in their bed, a tragic and sudden death that had no explanation. She blamed herself for leaving him that day and not being there, something that burns in the back of her mind each day as she tried to move forward.
At this point in her life, Barrett felt her roots in Seattle were starting to fade, she became a shell of who she had previously been and the front she had began to put up only grew higher and higher. LA had been pulling her home for a while now, yet it was this tragic event that gave her that last push to leave Seattle. So she left, packing a bag one day and once again cutting off everyone close in her life. It was clear Barrett had a reputation for upping and leaving, she received countless calls from her fire house, confused at where she had gone and throwing her career into the fire. Fighting the dark grief that often brushes over her in giant crashing waves, as well as attempting to piece back together relationships she had so easily burned many years ago, essentially returning home would most likely be the biggest battle Barrett would have to face so far. By good fortune the fire house located in Downtown LA had recently had a spot open up and despite her hatred in doing so, Barrett begged for them to give her this second chance she so very much needed. Settling into Downtown LA, with hope of regaining some control back in her life, Barrett believes the happy go lucky girl she once was will bloom soon enough.

The story of Cyrus and Clementina
Tumblr media
Marriage cert of Cyrus Packard and Clementina Cheney, as noted in my article about family history I wrote about the Packard family.
As we recounted in the last article on this blog, Cyrus's last wife was Clementina Cheney, whom he married months after Dora Mills died in February 1895. He married her at a Chesterfield Congregational Church by a pastor named H.E. Lygesson (spelling?):
Tumblr media
Note: This was originally posted on Nov. 17, 2017 on the main Packed with Packards WordPress blog (it can also be found on the Wayback Machine here). My research is still ongoing, so some conclusions in this piece may change in the future.
I wrote about Clementina and Cyrus in my family history, noting that:
About 6 months after Dora died, he married again to Clementina Cheney. Coming from a well-established New England family [the Cheney family], she stayed at home, while Cyrus was a carpenter. He wasn’t done having children. With Clementina he had 5 more children with the last name of Packard, putting his number of offspring at 12. These children would be Olive Martha (October 23, 1896-January 20, 1969), Herbert Miles (October 1898 - August 30, 1966), Rachel May (April 13, 1900 - September 22, 1933), Thomas “Tom” Theodore Packard (May 2, 1902 - 1975), and Harold “Harry” Cyrus Packard (Apr. 24, 1907 – 1975). None ever married. By 1900, only one of Cyrus’s children from his marriage with Dora would be living with him: John H. Packard who was working as a farm hand. As the head of the household, Cyrus lived on a mortgaged farm and was a carpenter. Later censuses show that none of the children he had with Dora  would be living with him. By 1910, he would be mortgaging the farm, but would be a general farmer, living in the same neighborhood as Henry C. Packard’s family. 10 years later, he would own the farm which he had mortgaged for so many years, and be classified as a farmer, just like his sons Herbert & Thomas...In 1924, Cyrus would die, reportedly on April 2, after suffering from a brain tumor, and his wife one year earlier, 1923. Cyrus, and many of his children, and wives were buried in West Hill cemetery in Plainfield.
The actual censuses themselves also tell a story. The 1900 census shows Cyrus, Clementina and their family living on High Street in Plainfield:
Tumblr media
By 1910, Cyrus is sill living in Plainfield but is living near another Packard family profiled in my family history, that of Henry Clark Packard (one of Cyrus's brothers), who had married a woman of class named Bertha Bell Gurney, having four children of their own:
Tumblr media
Two Packard families right near each other!
This reality should not surprise anyone. I again quote from my family history, this time on Henry Clark Packard:
...Henry Clark Packard...was born on April 28, 1866, and would die in 1924. He would become a deacon and manager of a West Cummington church, be a member of Plainfield Grange (an organization that assisted farmers), and serve as a selectman. He married Bertha Bell Gurney on December 14, 1890, who would die on August 1, 1960, having four children with her: William Albert (1894-1983), Muriel (1900-1960), Margery, and William Henry, birth dates unknown for the last two.
The 1920 census, in Plainfield, was the last for Cyrus and Clementina, since they died within a year of each other as noted earlier:
Tumblr media
I plan to request a certified death certificate for Clementina Cheney and when it arrives, I'll write about that and the one for Cyrus as well which I received earlier this year. I look forward to your comments as always.

Déjatch Alámayou, King Theodore's Son
July 1868
Julia Margaret Cameron British, born India
Déjatch Alámayou was taken to England after the British defeat of the Ethiopians at the battle of Magdala and the suicide of his father, Tewodros (Theodore) II, emperor of Ethiopia, in April 1868. Queen Victoria took an interest in Alámayou and saw to his education and protection, placing him in the care of Captain Tristram Speedy, who, like Cameron, had a home on the Isle of Wight. Speedy brought the child to Cameron’s house shortly after his arrival in England, and Cameron made ten photographs of the captain and his charge posed among Ethiopian exotica. In this image, the young orphaned prince cradles a little white doll and stares sadly into space, seemingly lost in thought. His name, Alámayou, means “I have seen the world.”

THE CINDERELLA MAN
1916
Tumblr media
The Cinderella Man is a play by Edward Childs Carpenter. It was originally produced and directed by Oliver Morosco. The play included a song by Carpenter and Victor Herbert.
Tumblr media
Phoebe Foster (above) was featured in costume on the cover of  the August 1916 issue of The Theatre magazine.
In addition to Foster, the original cast included: Theodore Babcock, Frank Bacon, Burton Churchill, Shelly Hull, Lucille La Verne, Charles Lane, Reginald Mason, Percival T. Moore, Hazel Turney, and Hubert Wilke.
Tumblr media
“The Cinderella Man” is the story of a lonely young girl, the motherless daughter of a wealthy father. She learns of a lonely impoverished young poet who lives in a lodging house adjoining her mansion. She enters his window on Christmas Eve and prepares a holiday surprise for him. The youth returns suddenly, and there develops a charming romance which batters down the dividing wall between wealth and genius. Through the aid of the girl his libretto wins a $10,000 prize.
First mention of the play dates back to August 1915, when it was announced as a vehicle for Peggy O’Neill, who had also starred in Morosco’s hit Peg O’ My Heart. The Cinderella Man was often billed as a follow up to Peg, sometimes inaccurately calling it a sequel. By the time the play went into rehearsal in December, the role had gone to Phoebe Foster.
Tumblr media
The play had its world premiere in Washington DC, then went to Baltimore and Scranton before the New Year.
Tumblr media
The play was seen at the Apollo Theatre in Atlantic City NJ on January 3, 1916. Instead of the usual week engagement, it played only three performances (a split week) before heading toward Broadway. After two more tryout stops (Allentown and Hartford), the play was ready for the Main Stem. If only they could decide where!
Tumblr media
Very early reports said that the play would occupy the Astor Theatre (1537 Broadway at 45th Street), but on January 13th newspapers reported that Morosco had a signed contract for the Fulton Theatre ( 210 West 46th Street), where the musical Ruggles of Red Gap was finishing up its run. It had opened on Christmas Day 1915, and was supposed to have closed by the time Cinderella Man arrived, but tickets were sold for an additional week.
Tumblr media
Instead, the play opened on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre (141 West 44th Street). where the play Bunny had suddenly shuttered after just two weeks. The Cinderella Man started performances at the Hudson on January 17, 1916. It played 192 performances, a long run at the time.
Tumblr media
Although not a musical, the play included a song titled “Out of His Heart, He Builds a Home” by Victor Herbert with lyrics by the playwright.
Tumblr media
The same year the play premiered, the playwright’s wife, Helen (nee Knipe) Carpenter, wrote a novelization of the play, which was published by H.K. Fly Company. It included the song lyrics and photos from the play.
Tumblr media
In December 1917, a year after the stage production played Atlantic City, the film adaptation starring Mae Marsh opened on the Boardwalk at the Virginia Theatre.
