It’s that time again where I’m absolutely insane. Just bear with me.
I can’t stop thinking about how the only person Warren has canonically told “I love you” to is Hypno. He doesn’t say he loves himself, which is funny considering he’s a little self-obsessed and is seen kissing his own reflection. He only says those words to Hypno. And his eyes are sparkling when he says it, and there’s so much feeling and passion in his voice, even as he misinterprets Hypno’s warning for the situation he just crawled into. Warren looks at Hypno as if the magician hung the moon in the sky just for him, that Hypno can do no wrong. He loves him so much, and it’s touching.
Warren hates his life, hates the turtles, hates everything it seems (including his old co-workers that he was shown to have had good prior relationships with), and even disliked Hypno at one point. But nah, he managed to get over this one thing and let something good in. He fell in love with someone he likely never would’ve met had the circumstances been different, and I think that’s really fucking beautiful.

Fictional characters are more Concept than Person.
Something I came across on Twitter the other day that made me go, “yes, this is exactly what I’ve been trying to put into words for a hot min!”
I still (futilely, perhaps) hope that the antis or people who are otherwise heavy into fandom discourse internalize this. Fictional characters are nothing but a concept, so to attach morality to them in any way is very flawed.
It may be hard to hear for some of y’all, but what you engage in fictionally has no bearing on anything materially. There’s staunch lesbians who will buss it wide open for male characters. There’s people who wouldn’t harm a fly who are comfortable regularly consuming extremely dark or taboo media. There are literally no rules to this shit, no 1:1 relation of fictional preferences to real life values. To believe otherwise does not make you safer, but it does keep you dangerously naive and easily manipulated.
If you cannot maintain an appropriate psychological distance between who you are as a person and the media you create/consume, that is a problem, not a virtue. Well-adjusted individuals treat fiction as an escape and not a stand in for being a Good Person™️. If more folks settled with this, then at least 90% of the heated discourse/witch hunts in fandoms wouldn’t exist and we’d be much better off for it.

!spoilers for mha chapters 381-385!
so I’m up to date on the mha manga as of a few days ago, and-
see, I was screaming at my screen for sapphics, but THIS IS NOT WHAT I MEANT
we got homoerotic fight scenes, we got the “right person wrong time” trope, we got the “I would die for you” and WAIT THATS NOT A GOOD THING
“oh you want some sapphic rep? ok here’s toga and uraraka, because everyone is asking for it and toga canonically already likes her”
“let’s toss in a fight/confession/talking things through scene”
“and now we’re going to have toga himiko die in the saddest way possible”
“haha no more sapphic relationship for you”
welp thanks a lot for making me sob my eyes out for two days straight

I hate when a tv show glosses over a characters recovery and it happens all off screen. Let me see the hurt/comfort/angst! Don’t just do *8 months later* Just a little bit of an idea of what went on!!

How do folks prefer authors to tag a fic where ships or events might not happen in the first chapter? Do you prefer to know out the gate that the first chapter is all about this ship, but these ones will turn up later? Do you prefer to have warnings and notes about plot points out immediately, or have them added as the applicable chapters are posted? What's the vibe here, I never know.

I would like to know more about You've get Something to Lose, please and thank you?
Bobby POV where he’s gearing up to tell Sunset Curve some big news!
It started off as a one shot with no actual plot/motive/end goal. I’ve written quite a bit on it, but it’s all just one long scene that goes absolutely nowhere… so in all honesty, I’m thinking of changing the whole thing. Just don’t know how/to what yet
I know I have some good stuff in the first draft that I could split and spread across chapters, so that’s a plus! Now to come up with some sort of actual plot…
Send me a title

There is nothing worse than being into a objectively niche series but it still has one part of the franchise thats considered popular at its peak and amongst its dedicated fanbase so it’s the best iteration to probably direct people towards-
Until you remember you’ve experienced most of the franchise and there’s other parts that are objectively better not only in beginner friendliness but also writing but you can’t recommend people it so easily because it’s the part that isn’t talked about enough even if it has its fans.
And the fact this happened to me twice makes me even sadder about it 💀

I do find it odd when someone will write a very sweet fluffy story with an author note like “hey I’ve been going through a lot right now so i wrote this with my favorite character :)” and then the next post you see is someone complaining, for the same character and fandom, “why doesn’t anyone make them mean and manipulative and emotionally abusive >:(“ and it’s like idk man fun fact, if you want that, you need to write it or find someone who will. It’s not the other authors fault that they, as the author, innocently wrote what they wanted and decided to share it with everyone.

don’t wanna bring discourse just wanna rant—but i can’t believe some people actually want ao3 to have an algorithm, like, please no that would be the worst thing possible. and comparing tiktok and ao3 is just 😐 keep your grimy hands off ao3. that is a non-profit organization and u are in no place to make demands unless you actually donate to them
