Collection of Free Art Tutorials

I don't usually make text post on this blog, but a nice artist I know was asking for tutorials a while back and I forgot to send some to them while in school. So here's a post on it since it's easiest to grab and go this way. :)

This list focuses on the basics. I'm focusing on the foundations of art, so medium is generally irrelevant and you can use physical or digital with these. You'll have to google more specific tutorials on things like character design and such.

One of the biggest pieces of advice I can give to you is strangely, introduce things to yourself one at a time. In art class, we took whole topics week by week. For high school, we did a few exercises then spent a week drawing/painting and doing your piece(s). For basic art 1 & 2 in college, we did 1-2 exercises and then did 1-2 drawings, followed by HW (which we turned in next week) and sketchbook practice (which she'd check at midpoints). For basic art lessons with a tutor, we did practice then our own art. You can see the pattern here - the point is don't be distressed if you don't get everything at once, or the lesson in 2 weeks, or the lesson in 3 years - we practice and do a lot over time, and you'll pick up on things you need to improve naturally and through help with others. Take time to be proud of your art in mini steps too, even if it's not the best! You tried and attempting to climb an obstacle over and over again before finally leapfrogging it is still progress to it.

Overall tutorials:

DrawABox.com is a site that's dedicated to art exercises and practicing when you can. They talk about the basics of art as well as how practice is important. It can get tough at times and it's ok to stop and do a balance of say those practices and doodles if you choose to try and do all of it's stuff - but you don't have to either. It's just a nice basic education done by some art nerds who like going hard.

Ethering Brothers - these guys are famous for their 40billion tutorials. If you need help on a specific idea, search their gallery and you'll likely find something.

Thundercluck's Art Fundamentals - She did a good huge ass tutorials on how things work, and it's the least overwhelming of the 3 I got in this section, so I suggest it as one of the first to look at for digital stuff.

Art Instructions Blog - Another good & simpler website that goes great into fundamentals. They focus more on traditional art but if you're digital, you can replicate most of the techniques - art fundamentals and subjects cover all mediums. Very important

Drawsh - Particularly notes on Construction: construction is the basics of building an illusion of a 3D image on a page. Figuring out how to build shape gives depth to your work, and learning how to see in 3D lets you be able to draw an item then move it around in your head (sometimes, when you're good enough, don't be afraid to pull out a reference or use live subjects). Construction is how to figure out the foundation of your drawing, and good planning = better picture! This link starts at the back, hit newer post to go forward.

There's a lot on anatomy and other nitty gritty details for when you want to practice those as well.

Griz and Norm's Assorted tips - Long time artist talk about various tips and tricks they use in art and how to avoid certain pitfalls. It's eclectic but great to look through.

James Gurney's Blog - He's got a lot of thoughts, a lot of tips, and a lot of adventures he catalogues. It's the least organized out of these but fortunately he has plenty of tags and most post have something neat going on. He's fantastic!🥰

Color

A side note - color theory doesn't differ much, but color MIXING will change between mediums. If you're doing traditional colored pencil, you're overlapping 2 or more pigments on top of each other. If you're doing traditional paint, you're mixing & creating a solution/emulsion (depends on the pigment and binding) of pigments with the particles reflecting light in different ways. In digital, overlapping colors & blending colors depend on how the program you use calculates it if you're not just putting 2 color side by side. This just means you have to adjust your mixing when you switch between them. :)

Books

Good news: the internet archive has a TON of resources. Make sure to check around and toggle filters, it's a bit weird with organization. For example, a book can be under art or drawing - techniques, depending on who catalogues it.

Andrew Loomis is someone artist tend to die-hard reccomend. His work is collected here & here on the internet archive (one is Andrew Loomis, the other is Loomis, Andrew - thanks). I own Figure Drawing for All It's Worth and I recommend checking all of his stuff out, especially if you're having trouble with bodies and hands.

The Animator's Survival Guide by Richard Williams is mandatory in animation classes for good reason - it's fantastic!

Perspective for Comic Book Artist by David Chelsea is great for any type of artist. So is Extreme Perspective & Perspective in Action.

Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics, Reinventing Comics, & Making Comics. The first one is on the internet archive, the second two are likely avaliable at your library or at a bookstore as they're pretty popular.

Speaking of comics, Drawing Comics the Marvel Way has been a favorite of comic artist for years no matter what comic book companies and artist you like, it's a good introduction.

Anything by or endorsed by James Gurney, Color and Light: A Guide for the Realistic Painter is one of my favorites (this is his official page but you can get them elsewhere for cheaper too).

Art resource blogs with good tagging systems: @artist-refs , @help-me-draw , @helpfulharrie , @art-res , @drawingden , & @how-to-art

Lastly, I suggest if you find something you like online for free, SAVE IT! Whether it is through the Wayback Machine, screenshotting a whole webpage, reblogging/retweeting something, or putting it on pinterest, digital media is fickle and tends to go up in smoke when you least expect it. I have a partially organized Pinterest board that helped me find most of the stuff I wanted to keep. Figure out what works for you and save what you can.

I see you've got a lot of Cyno and Tighnari lined up already, so I sincerely apologise for adding to that, haha! If this is something you'd like to write, I'd love to see the prompt "sharing a receptacle" for Cyno and Tighnari! Maybe it starts off with one of them being sick and the other coming to care for them, only soon enough they also catch whatever has been making the other sick. (I love fics with multiple sick characters at once!)

Tighnari wakes to his stomach cramping for what feels like the hundredth time in a handful of days. He’s coughing before his eyes are even open but fortunately, he’s taken to sleeping with his arms latched onto a trashcan. He curls around it, hacking. He needs to sit. With the storm that has taken residence in his abdomen refusing to ease, it’s impossible to tell when his stomach contents will make a reappearance. Tighnari feels hands on his back guiding him upright and his body relaxes minutely. He knows who that is.

“Nari,” Cyno says simply, unnecessarily but sweetly confirming his identity. If Tighnari were any bit more aware of his surroundings, he might notice a weight to his partner’s voice that isn’t normally there, pulling it into a slow drawl. But he doesn’t, because his coughs have turned into retches. His stomach clenches and his back arches, entirely out of his control. 

He mentally chastises himself for trying to fight what’s about to happen. Tighnari has seen this process enough times to know that it’s easier to simply accept it - he’s lived through it countless times within the past week. And yet, when bile inevitably rises in his throat, his breath still stutters with a series of shallow, panicked gasps. One last instinctive act of resistance before sick spills over his lips, splattering to the bottom of the trashcan.

It used to be lined with a plastic bag, and Tighnari realizes with dismay that this is no longer true. Cyno must have forgotten to put a new one in after the previous bout of puking. Now, Tighnari stares vacantly downwards, trying not to think about how much scrubbing it will take to clean this. He feels more ill all the same, and the sight of vomit congealing against the plastic… He pitches forward again and blearily watches as the contained mess rapidly grows.

“Guh,” Tighnari shudders, his head hanging low in the trashcan. His body is wracked with queasy shivers and chills. Tears of exertion drip from his lashes. He realizes that Cyno, who is normally quiet, has gone completely silent, and wonders if he’s walked away. Tighnari is hit with a pang of hurt, and then confusion, because that doesn’t seem likely, but his foggy mind can’t seem to come up with a different explanation.

For better or worse, he can’t ponder it further. His stomach spasms and Tighnari finds himself spewing another stream of vomit into the trashcan.

Finally, the nausea alleviates moderately. Though the thought of food still makes him woozy, he believes he can move without hurling. Tighnari’s head feels heavy, but he lifts it anyway. His whole body relaxes upon finding that Cyno is still sitting on the bed beside him. Relief, for a moment, and then he freezes.

Cyno looks almost worse than Tighnari feels. He’s wearing a miserable expression, and his hands repeatedly grip his thighs - squeeze and release, squeeze and release - needing something solid to cling to. There’s no point in asking if he’s alright. 

“Oh, Cyno,” Tighnari murmurs. He’s exhausted, but attentive ears still catch a hitching breath. Several gurgling burps follow, rolling steadily out of the other man, and white hair drapes forward to curtain his face as Cyno curls in on himself. Tighnari’s hand finds the matra’s shoulder, drawing him close with a sigh. “Come here.”

Cyno settles against Tighnari’s side heavily, as if unable to hold himself up.

“I’m sorry,” he mumbles, voice slurring under the weight of nausea. His back ripples with consecutive aborted heaves and Tighnari winces and shakes his head.

“None of that. Just let it happen.”

Cyno is panting now, mouth gasping for air beneath a shaking hand. Tighnari gently pushes it out of the way. Cyno’s eyes flicker to him briefly and then squeeze shut. A pained moan escapes him. A shudder runs through the matra and it sparks something tender and protective under Tighnari's skin. He runs fingers through sweaty hair.

“Relax,” Tighnari instructs, voice firm despite his own growing queasiness. Cyno’s body immediately softens, easing towards the offered and already used trash bin. The next time his back arches, a stream of pale yellow puke spills over his lips. Tighnari catches just a glimpse, but it’s enough to bring his own nausea back in full force. He tries to ignore it. Cyno is still being ill and Tighnari wants to be there for him. While Cyno chokes on a waterfall of thick, chunky vomit, Tighnari ignores the way his skin sparks with hot and cold flashes. Shaky hands rub circles into Cyno’s heaving back and, not for the first time, Tighnari curses his sensitive ears.

They have been helpful to him in many ways throughout the years; lifesaving, even. He wouldn’t trade them, but there are moments when Tighnari wishes he could put his heightened sense of hearing on pause. He doesn’t need to hear with crystal clarity the muffled splatter of liquid against plastic. And then, louder, a wet belch and splashing noises. He tries to take a calming breath, but it only fills his nostrils with a sour, rotting scent of sickness.

“Cyno - urp - are you almost done?” Tighnari’s strength has all but left him. The only response he receives is a whimper. Then Cyno is heaving again, soupy orange stomach contents spraying from his lips.

Tighnari is not normally squeamish. Still, even he has a breaking point on a sick day.

A gut-wrenching belch rumbles through him. Tighnari tries not to jostle the man next to him, but he has little control over his body as he lurches forward to once again be violently sick. Thanks to careful positioning, most of it makes it into the bin. Having to share such a small space has taken its toll, though, because some of the sticky substance splatters onto Cyno’s hands around the trash bin. Tighnari can't even manage an apology. His head pounds and he is wracked with dry heaves, unable to contain his nausea even now that he’s empty while Cyno continues to cough up streams of bile. When at last Cyno is able to get his stomach under control, Tighnari finally pulls back, bringing his arm up to his face to cover his nose from the vile scent filling the room.

“Are you okay?” He asks, voice all but torn to shreds. Cyno looks like a wet dog, hair drenched in sweat, eyes round and watery. He nods, but speaks waveringly.

“I– I think I should move to the bathroom.” His arms are trembling around the now nearly-full and quite heavy trash bin. Tighnari eyes it with distaste and resolves to worry about it later with a firm nod. 

He is painfully aware that he’s been sick for three days now with no real sign of improvement. If, as the case seems to be, Cyno has caught his illness, they should indeed go ahead and make themselves as comfortable as possible on the cold stone floors of the cramped hotel bathroom (regardless of how absolutely repulsive the thought of moving is at the moment).

so with the show gone, what's your headcanon on the ventures's future? have the creators mentioned anything about it?

A few things in passing but not too much. Namely just that Dean is gonna lose his hair and that Hank will eventually step foot in Mars as an adventurer. I think Doc and Jackson said as much that they want to keep the door open for future stories in case they do get to come back, and that they'll always have new things they'll want to do, but anyway yes okay, post-show headcanons:

Doc burns through Jonas Jr's fortune and for the most part remains the same, but he eventually achieves a true breakthrough of his own: a permanent solution to hair loss. It comes with a few little side effect mutations but for the most part it does work and Doc is, reasonably pretty happy that for once he gets something to his name that he actually made and isn't something horrible done to him. "Reasonably happy" is as happy as Rusty is ever allowed to get, and he dies a few weeks later by something predictably stupid, like auto-erotic asphyxiation.

It's shitty, Dr Orpheus cries over it, but everyone kinda saw it coming.

Most of Doc's assets get seized and the boys actually don't get much, he forgot to put them in the will because he made it back when he still had the clone farm. Rusty's last wish is to be cremated so nobody gets to clone him, and for his ashes to be scattered at Spanakopita, which has become a big White Lotus-esque resort island since Doc's last visit, built by Giorgo almost entirely off the Venture fortune. On the boat ride to Spanakopita, (WHITE LOTUS SEASON 2 SPOILERS) Sgt Hatred dies exactly like Tanya did and nobody bothers to fish his body back up.

Eventually some Rusty clones will pop up over the years, one of which is gonna be on that offscreen Rusty that went on the Cleveland Time Machine adventure with Billy. Once they leave Rusty's science basement, Billy and Pete White will never make it to the big leagues, but they'll pretty much be together until the end, and they are gonna go on some real weird adventures, like freaky Doom Patrol stuff, St.Cloud is gonna get up to some shit in the future once he bumbles into becoming rich enough to warp space-time around him just by existing and turn into the world's first Level 100 antagonist by the least amount of effort humanly possible. Actually the whole world is gonna get a lot weirder in the future, when stuff like the cloning tech and anti-gravity music boxes bleed over into general public use.

At some point the Earth will be menaced by the return of General Treister, who has absorbed enough cosmic radiation to become Galactus (this one was mentioned in the artbook as something they'd play around with, if they ever brought Treister back). He will be stopped from devouring the planet by a joint effort between Hank Venture, the Guild and the OSI, and Hunter Gathers will sacrifice herself in the process, passing the OSI's leadership to Shore Leave, who will bring SPHINX back every few months just so he has an excuse to interject SPHINX! into sentences again for funsies. Brock essentially becomes the OSI's equivalent to Red Death: basically retired, but he goes on assignments a couple times per year or gets brought onboard for decision-making, some part of him actually does kinda like this life and he stands by the friends he's made in it. He keeps touch with the Ventures but for the most part he flies solo. At some point he will have enough illegitimate children across the world for them to start their own super spy group.

Hank becomes an adventurer, and for the most part he just remains Hank as always. He makes a lot of strange alliances all over the place, he doesn't resort as much to his entourage of personas but some still come up on occasion (the double life of Enrico Matassa is one for the history books), he reforms Shallow Gravy with Dermott (who is totally 100% getting kicked out of the OSI) and Gary and HELPeR and Scare Bear playing the triangle, for the most part he lives up to the idea of being more "Rusty Venture" than Rusty himself ever was and he becomes like the first major Venture adventurer who's not some kind of monster. He completely and totally blows out any chance at settling down into normalcy, but he lives an exciting life. 50/50 on him either dying young doing something incredibly stupid and careless, or somehow stumbling his way into full-blown Highlander immortality just as 21 foresaw.

Dean I think stays in New York full time and is another 50/50 on him: he's either gonna succeed in having a normal life, or he's becoming a villain, I'm taking the fandom side on this one, villain Dean is not the most exciting idea in the world but it has some legs to it and I can't see him being anything else if he's gotta be a part of that binary whether he likes it or not. In the former, I imagine he finishes college, maybe gets a degree in something lowkey, probably changes his name and settles down with somebody and stops answering most calls, basically makes it like Professor Van Helping in that his life is okay and that's just how he wants it. Villain Dean I think happens in largely a similar way to how it happened to Dr Girlfriend taking over the Guild: not something they wanted or planned to, but it's the best way to keep things stable and keep themselves afloat amidst the chaos that surrounds them whether they want it or not. Maybe he finally listens to King Crimson and it breaks his brain into mad science a bit, as it tends to do, or maybe he invokes his blood right to appoint himself Sovereign but otherwise keeps hands-free of the Guild, and only does it so the Guild leaves him alone and he can boss other villains into standing down. He's gonna have freaks in costume trying to get him for the rest of his life so, fuck it, when in Rome or something.

At some point in the very near future Mantilla takes over the Peril Partnership and guts it to make ARCH a real thing, and maybe in the future ARCH kinda replaces the Guild at the forefront of supervillain institutions, with the Guild having the final word in matters of diplomacy and the old guard and ARCH as the new high-tech face of things. She never succeeds in getting to be besties with Dr Girlfriend, but she does hit it off nicely with Sirena, who takes over after Wide Wale and fires basically everyone that was still around after the Morpho saga. The Order of the Triad actually does succeed in making it pretty big, with comparatively few players but some very powerful additions like Lila, Red Death's daughter, and some of Jefferson's old buddies. Definitely not Triana though, she's got better to do than run with her dad's crew. Somehow HELPeR winds up joining and gets married to the Pants Golem.

Gary is gonna keep on being Henchman 21 up until the moment The Monarch dies, at which point he might actually undergo another big transformation of the self and will probably just outright become a sidekick to the heroes. He's never going to truly be a hero or a villain himself, he gave those a try and he's pretty firmly the kind of guy that only comes to life when someone else tells him what to do, so I imagine he's gonna bounce around until he finds something he finds fulfilling, will probably go on plenty of adventures with Hank. Really by this point he's already an honorary Venture, with The Monarch out of the picture so goes the pretense. Sheila, I think she just runs the Guild for as long as she can, probably reformulates it into something more sustainable by the end of her run. Sheila's arc in the show is about her climbing the ranks and moving away from her role as a number two, and distancing herself more from The Monarch because of it, and she's not going back to her old life so I think she's just fully going to remain The Sovereign up until she gets too sick of it, possibly moves into politics at Radical Left's suggestion and hands the Guild off to Phantom Limb. Maybe even becomes President of the United States for a bit, if anyone in the cast is becoming president it's really gotta be her. Or maybe not since she's overqualified, but still, if she does, in the process she hands the Guild to Phantom Limb, who basically makes it a drinking buddies gentleman's club and is too retired and rich and old to care much about anything anymore.

The movie ends with a pretty firm statement that The Monarch is just going to keep on being The Monarch no matter what and that he will in fact never stop trying to arch Rusty, and he's had like a million chances to kill Doc by now and didn't seize any of them so really yes he will just keep doing this until one or both pass. And I'm definitely thinking Doc goes first, Malcolm is torn between celebrating and flipping the fuck out that Doc DARED to not let The Mighty Monarch kill him, and for a brief moment he's completely and totally unsure as to what the fuck is he going to do with his life. He's like this close to genuinely trying to turn his life around and try to be a Blue Morpho-esque hero again if only because he and Gary had some good times and, y'know by this point he hates the Guild more so than the OSI, but then the Rusty clones show up and, you know what, fine, I can work with this, THE SWEET RELEASE OF DEATH IS NO MATCH FOR THE ACID CUMSHOT OF VENGEANCE, DOCTOR VENTURE, MUUUHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! and then he crashes his new butterglider into a cliffside Wile E.Coyote style and he dies like two weeks into a new plan.

Gary cries, Sheila's heartbroken, but again, they and everyone totally saw this coming.

Dr. Otis Octavius, "Doctor Octopus"

He's fun to draw..

(Hella lore under the cut.. be warned, I type a LOT)

In the AU, he's one of the more "drawn out" villains, like Dr. Ohnn. His arc develops mostly in the background. If I were to turn the AU into a fan-comic, I'd have moments where it'd cut to him. 👀

Anyhow, the lore is that he started off as one of the many people chosen by a foe named Black Velvet (Dr. Archer Blakeley) to catch the Pseudo-Spider, so he could rid any sort of "traces" of the whole "radioactive spider" incident. Otis goes against it at first, but he eventually gets the idea of studying the Spider himself instead. After weeks of being vigilant, he's saved by Percy Parker from a car accident. Out of gratitude, the scientist takes Parker out for dessert the same afternoon.

After a somewhat sour conversation over sweet delicacies, he manages to find out that Percy was, indeed, bit by one of the two radioactive spiders that escaped Blakeley's grasp. However, he doesn't know he's the Pseudo-Spider.

This doesn't stop him from chasing him around the city the next day with his few months old mechanical arms. Since they're still in the process of being touched-up, the chase doesn't last so long. That and because the Pseudo-Spider deals with him before any sort of damage is done.*

(*Note, this is when Percy comes up with the name 'Doc Octopus' for him,,)

A month passes, and it seems like Otis has finally gotten along with Percy after clearing his own name, telling the youth that his actions were (mostly) from his own motivation, and that he should've just cut off Dr. Blakeley.

Then, one night, while Otis is dabbling in his little job with reactors, the Pseudo-Spider disrupts him while taking on an unknown villain.

To shorten things, the fight causes PS to bump into something and mess up the entire experiment. After the chaos that is Otis trying to get everyone out of the building and him staying behind in attempt to fix the situation, it all ends in a bright and seemingly powerful explosion.

Fortunately, all of Octavius' labmates escaped unscathed, but the head scientist himself vanished without a trace. This is enough info to convince Percy that he, the Pseudo-Spider, just killed a man. And that info haunts him for a good while.

It's been less-than-a-few months since the explosion now, and Percy has somewhat managed to get over Otis' death, and tried to resume his two lives. The thought still gives him shivers time-to-time.

That is, one night, the Spider finally confronts five of his greatest foes one more time, back to back. After a while, he meets their leader. The thought-to-be deceased Otis Octavius, in the flesh, standing before him like a ghost caught in the exact moment of their death.

The now not-so-good doctor reveals that he's been actively conjuring a (master) plan to get revenge on PS, thinking that he was, indeed, his murderer. Ock also reveals that he was saved from the blast by his own robo-arms, and they took him to a safe place while he was out cold. His influence for getting rid of PS mostly comes from them.

And that's all I have for his main arc. Told you it was a mouthful

Edit: I lied. I forgot to talk about his personality shift during his arc. Basically he starts off as this grumpy, strange, almost-old man who has a soft spot for a select few people he cares about (biggest example being this universe's Harry Osborn, who's constantly under stress as the heir of Oscorp. Not to mention his long dead father. Otis kinda acts as a dad or cool uncle to Harr, constantly checking to see if he's alright and even taking on some of his work for him sometimes.) After the incident, the drive of getting revenge on the Pseudo-Spider REALLY starts to show. Especially on his face. Sometimes he subconciously breaks out these sinister-ass grins when he thinks about his plan (THE PIPELINE,,)

Hello there! I hope you are doing well (as well as someone who has completed watching season 2) First of all congrats on moving into a new house! I'm still having lots of Feelings™ to process after finishing the second season.. oh god the acting, the genuine emotions on the faces of both Michael and David this time around... I'm simultaneously radiating happiness and being utterly destroyed. And the increasing intimacy between them in the interviews is not helping matters either... I think (this has been marinating in my head for a while) one of the reasons they are doing this is to physically reassure each other that they are not apart, they are still a team and still on their side, because after the heart wrenching ending of the season, it would have been very hard for them to come to terms with it, as they had put their whole beings, their whole souls into playing Azi and Crowley, which might have made it difficult to draw a line where the characters ended and they begin... So the touches, their body language became a sort of coping mechanism, something which said 'hey, don't worry, I'm still here.. I have not gone away, we're still together' and this makes me wanna cry again 😭

I hope my word vomit makes an iota of sense (English is not my first language by a long shot, so) and I hope you do find some time to rest and have a warm beverage of your choice while unwinding. Stay safe and blessed!!

Hi there! Thank you so much for the congrats on my move, I truly appreciate it. I've actually had a very rough couple of days, as on top of the move, my Facebook account was hacked earlier this week, and it essentially pushed me over the edge and I was crying for much of Monday and felt like I had a crying "hangover" all day Tuesday.

You do not at all have to apologize for your Ask--your English is very good!--and I'm glad to read your thoughts as I make my way through all the Anons still residing in my inbox. Truly, we are fortunate to have GO 2 and Michael and David to focus on, as well as the abundance of interviews we've gotten after months and months of little to no content.

To start: I absolutely agree with you, re: the intimacy between Michael and David in these interviews. It's been so fascinating to see them get more flirty and touchy-feely with each progressive interview (I know we don't know the order in which they were done, but I imagine the flirting/touching increased as the day went on). And while I can definitely see them doing what you described--reassuring each other, touching and being close as a coping mechanism--my feeling is they already did all that last year, probably right after filming That Scene. (There is actually a gorgeous MS/DT fic on AO3 right now that depicts exactly that, and it's definitely worth reading.)

But in terms of all the intimacy and touching in the more recent interviews (from last month), I think what we're seeing is something else. I think Michael and David are beyond the need for reassurance because they are so comfortable with each other and know they're still together, permanently. There's no more of the uncertainty of parting ways after the promo interviews end--only the promise of seeing each other again as soon as both their lives and schedules allow it.

There have been so many moments of telling body language and touches and expressions, but if I had to pick a favorite (well, a few), one would be them walking arm-in-arm onto The One Show:

And the other would be David leaning so far over and draping his arm around Michael in the Amazon Q&A video:

...And of course (and possibly most notable), Michael and David seemingly unconsciously moving closer to each other in the TV Insider interview:

It's so telling that there is no urgency or desperateness to any of this--only comfort and very much that sense of "on our side" that you mentioned. Walking out arm-in-arm as they did in particular adds to that "us against the world" feeling and the not-so-subtle implication that while they were Michael Sheen and David Tennant on the season one press tour, here, now, they are Michael and David. Inseparable, always intertwined, and having so much more of themselves in the characters of Aziraphale and Crowley than in the first season.

So yes, everything you wrote absolutely did make sense, and I appreciate you writing in to share your thoughts with me. I have a lot more thoughts/analysis about GO season 2 still to share, which I hope to do in response to the numerous Anons still waiting in my inbox. Thanks for writing in! x

JM Welive & JK Welive #3-4

Jimin’s Welive:

My god, he looks SOOOO good. All these years, when Jimin makes comments about how he looks, I always think, “omg, Jimin, you always look great!” He looked especially fantastic during this live though he admitted he’d had a sore throat and his voice was a little rough. He reassured us he took some meds and he’s fine.

Within the first 22 seconds, someone texts him because his phone vibrates once... he looks down... who is it? Is it his manager saying we leave in 20 minutes? Or someone else who wants to order chicken and look for something to watch on Netflix? ... ... ... he wanted to say something... but he didn’t... 

Anyway, Jimin continues and says “here I am alive and well!” and came to tell us. He’s seen our comments. His album is coming soon, it’s almost ready and he’s got lots of stuff in store for us. [squeeeeeeeeeee!!!!1!!] He even filmed something earlier in the day but he couldn’t talk about it. 

When he was talking about working with Taeyang, and specifically the MV, he said something to the effect that he realized he has been living comfortably like a child in a warm home... did he mean he realized how pampered he’s been as a member of BTS? I wrote about my impressions of the Vibe MV and I was not very complimentary of the production... is Jimin confirming that the conditions were not up to what he’s been used to? 

He was choosing his words carefully and I’m sure the reason he said it was to self-reflect on how fortunate he is. Perhaps he realizes his solo work process so far has also been very easy compared to other artists trying to make music and be successful. Jimin has a whole company behind him that can cater to every whim and he’s able to work with almost any producer he chooses and he’s able to have a lot of guidance in things he’s less experienced in.

He says he’s happy, doing the things he wants to be doing. He’s experiencing new things including being a fashion ambassador. He says happy things are happening one right after the other and I’m thrilled for him. It’s so good to see him in such a positive headspace because 2020 through 2021 were suckass.

He says he’s living the busy life and then (randomly?) mentions he has been watching Suchwita... 

After someone asked him if he saw Taeyang watching that old video of young Jimin singing/dancing to a Taeyang song, Jimin says he was so embarrassed and wonders how did he ever become Bangtan... hahahahahahahaaa... 

He talked more about Paris Fashion week and wanting to talk more about his work but he can’t say anything right now. Jimin is excited, y’all. I’m excited for him, it’s going to be so fun when his album is released!

JK Welive #3: Jungkookie has reached a certain status where he doesn’t answer to anyone. Though the members told him not to drink while live broadcasting... Jungkook is a man on a mission.

Just another one of those things that’s between the two of them. I can hear it now... at some point in the past, someone could have, maybe, who knows... said to them... “hey guys, chill a little, y’all being really loud, as in totally obvious with the hickey/touchy-feely/bedroom eyes”... and one of them said “what are we supposed to do? act like we just met?” And they ran with it (laughing all the way.)

Anyway. Nothing has changed. They are fine.

PAC: August 2022 predictions (or next 3 months from when you read this)

Pile 1

My intention was to keep the format short but with any readings, if you want to read superficially you could. I don't really like to do that because I feel like there's always more to a situation than the first few cards you pull. Like when he clarify, it's like adding a whole other detail of importance to a sentence. Like I could be so I saw this dog. Okay well you get the idea but what if I said so I saw this dog today it was a young Labrador puppy with golden fur and it belonged to my neighbor but it escaped out the backyard because one of the kids left the door open.

So I mean you get the story that I saw a dog but if I told you all of the rest of the information you would have more of a story about context and the background. I saw a dog but it was a lost dog. You get the idea so I feel like tarot can be like that. I could be like hey eventually you're going to meet the love of your life. But what if I left out that before then you're going to have to date two other jerks that you should look out for and you're also going to lose your job and take a long vacation before you find this person and by the way you're going to find this person while on your vacation.

I guess it depends on what you want to know and how much you want to know. So I'll try to do a superficial take. I started this pile last night and then I was tired and then I kept feeling like it wasn't talking about the pile but was talking about a specific event that's coming up but I don't really want to go into that so I'm going to keep it as a general blog reading.

That's the other weird thing about Tarot is like you can ask a question and the cards won't listen and they will tell you something that is more important but you don't know that because it happens in the future so you have no way of knowing other than a feeling.

So what I will say in a superficial and general sense is that in August or the coming months from when you read this to keep it timeless, I see a lot of change. After a really tough time. It's a long time as in could be years of struggling about something and carrying a lot of weight and responsibility but being determined to get to where you need to go or to finish the task.

Because to clarify some really strong cards like the chariot which represents cancer energy and the wheel of Fortune which is Sagittarius or fixed sign energy and then the six of Wands, we have some difficult cards like nine of Wands, 10 of Wands, 10 of swords.

The other interesting thing is how many tens you received in the only six cards. 10 is cycle completion. So it is to me the end of a very long and tough cycle that could have been going on for years or even up to a decade or more. But you got through it and I was going to keep this the superficial portion lol. So I'll just say an end to a tough and stressful cycle and now you're feeling very determined, there is change on the horizon like not even far away. Sometimes you get these in your life okay change is coming but it'll be like another couple of years. This feels like literally it's already starting to happen and should process within the next few weeks or months.

There is strong indication of travel. Especially for long-term trips or long distance trips. Particularly if you are traveling to somewhere like Egypt or somewhere it kind of exotic for you or traveling across a continent. Because there's a lot of indication of a long period of time elapsing. I think that's not just the struggle of your path for the last several years but that now you're moving into a cycle that will be long lasting but full of blessings.

I just see really really significant change for you. The six of Wands is the card that kind of made me feel funny because to clarify I got a ten of swords. But that can just mean again that a tough cycle is ending and you're approaching a time of success. Sure, it could be literal success and public recognition of some kind for whatever you're going into, which could be career or schooling of some kind. But, I see this more as like an emotional or spiritual triumph that you pushed through something and then you were able to come out of the other end despite all of the difficulties.

I should also mention with the clarification at least that I did today and last night, the planetary influences could be anything in cancer, anything Venus is up to, especially in relation to Taurus. Leo energy came up and the new moon and Leo is about to happen and we just entered Leo season.

Yeah, I don't know what kind but whatever you pushed through to open up this change for you, there will be a lot more focus and clarity and abundance. I feel like there will be more new adventures, there is happiness, potentially love. It just feels like somebody who goes through something and what you get on the other side is a lot of wisdom and maturity.

I feel like you know where you are headed now. Because if you look at the chariot which is all about having things under control and determination and moving forward, it's almost like Jupiter or just this wheel of Fortune card is coming through and pointing with its compass to where you need to go, and then since the 6 of Wands follows it's clear it indicates that you are being propelled very quickly toward a path of success but it wasn't an easy path at all. It looks very tiring. If you're going from the nine of Wands to the 10 of Wands, it's kind of like okay there's s*** ahead but we push through it and then on the other side there's 10 of cups.

The Oracle cards indicate that there will be some things in your life that fall away. It could be by choice or maybe not choice or maybe you still have to let go of a couple of things but it appears that whatever those old things are are crumbling. I don't take this as seriously as a tower situation but towers create change. And certainly if you went through some type of tower whether it's recently or over the years, you got through it because nine and 10 of Wands and 10 of swords indicate tough but guess what it's over because it's a 10. It's a 10 but it sucks lol

But this doesn't take that you have ancestors who are watching over you and trying to help guide you. I think that if you want to believe this, you could that they are probably the ones who have helped open these doors for you and supported you along the way. I don't know if that helps to hear it but that seems to be a message.

So, besides having the wheel here it does give a sense of destiny that the difficult times that you went through served some type of purpose to either line you up with your path or to provide you some kind of spiritual wisdom or maturity that would help you be able to handle this level of change to your life when it does come. Like maybe 10 years ago if you hadn't been through some difficult stuff you wouldn't know how to manage stress or work through conflict, but now that you've experienced that, you would be able to handle a higher level of change to your life instead of it breaking you down with anxiety.

So, that's the general sense but like I said specifically this could be related to a long distance relocation or long distance trip or I guess it's general again but a very long path that you've been going through that's finally seeing the clearing. Like if you or just going through a forest and it felt like forever any thought you would never get to the other end and see light again, you would probably be like half a mile away maybe less than that.

It's also possible that if love is on the horizon, you could meet this person online or they or you have some type of following. I don't know if that really matters but I'll throw it out there since I see it. As a person, what I'm seeing and it doesn't have to be a love interest, this could just be you or the only part where I feel like maybe there could be another person or the cards around the six of wants.

Because the empress came out for clarification when I wanted to understand the ten of swords and king of swords that popped out but anyway. Somebody very intelligent, somebody very attractive, somebody very successful either at work or like I said they might have some type of online following. Or this might be who you become if you're working toward those kinds of things. And maybe it felt like you failed a few times in doing this, but I think things might change shortly. But also this could generally be the influence of Venus. I feel like Mercury Venus Mars are the energies coming up for this pile so those current planetary transits might be influencing you a lot right now or influencing everybody I should say. Since Taurus came up I think it's Uranus is in Taurus as well so that one's just hanging out there always influencing things.

Yeah, there's some type of new adventure on the way and it could lead to love or just greater emotional maturity and the 10 of cups definitely indicates a lot more moments of joy. I would just say to sum up for this pile it's like hard work pays off is the motto happening here.

So if you put in the work and do you struggle through the long haul, I would expect it to show some results very quickly here. Like really big results. Maybe even some type of fame.

Can I read anything any other way to help with specific instances? Well determination is the first part. Again, determination and carrying on a lot of responsibility by yourself which seems to be related to a destiny thing as well as pushing towards some type of change. I would even expect sometimes for this person that changes quite difficult or it feels like you always have to be the one to do everything to create opportunities in your life. Because I feel like this ten of Wands person is struggling by themselves to create change or make change but it could also represent somebody who is determined to fight against change at times.

Like it works both ways that there was probably a time where you struggled with change but I feel like that phase is over which is why the crumbling is here. You're about to get rid of that responsibility or that weight that makes you anxious. Because now it's like that anxiety has turned into determination instead of fear. Or you could just be at the end of that type of phase and working through that. It's okay to still have fear and anxiety about anything but it doesn't look like it's as crushing or crippling as before.

I think the crumbling card is interesting when I talked about the opening in the forest because you see the door is slightly opening and it's like get ready to start your horses. So there's the opening, beyond as this beautiful field, if you go through the gate, I think there's something really great there. It feels like the message is also when you are determined and you are strong, the universe will end up seeing your efforts eventually and will reward you. Also technically in theory abundances always there for you but maybe you have to access it by changing the frequency of your brain to something higher before it comes to you.

I suppose since numbers seem significant here we should talk about those real quick and then end it. So like I said there are three tens. Tens indicate a cycle ending or cycles in general. You also have a nine a three a seven and six. I think back of the deck was a six.

So, I would read this as some cycles that involve finding and creating harmony in several aspects of life, there were also lessons involved for you that were probably karmic and that there seems to be abundant says the reward since a three showed up.

To me, it feels like a path about a lot of inner work and working through conflicts and challenges to determine I guess how strong you are or to make you strong and this feels a strong part of your destiny and path. I don't know what it means when people have different paths but sometimes it's very clear that there are different paths people might be assigned to before their incarnation. Some of those paths might be external as in a person could be born to create some kind of mass change for the collective.

Although I think you can do both you can have a collective responsibility and then you have your soul work I guess. In this instance, it could be something like you could become somebody famous and influence others but the more important level seems to be the interchange that's created by going through struggles and how and going through that, you do get to a place where you will probably get everything that you wanted because you deserve it.

But why souls have those constant phases where it's like building up your strengths and integrity. Like what does that actually do for a soul end game. If we all started with one source as one source and then split off to have these human or being experiences, like what does that do in the end? Like what is the point? But certainly it does read like souls go around collecting traits from experiences just like in video games lol.

Like you level up as you struggle and then as you persevere through that struggle. It seems kind of monotonous to me lol but I didn't start it or technically I guess I did if I'm part of it but I think it's fascinating to think about one source and then that one source splitting off into kajillions of little bits of energy that can absorb experiences and eventually bring it back to source but then each of those beings could have completely different opinions or experiences or observations. But it's like I am you you are me lol. Isn't that what they say in Alice in wonderland? I am you and you were me and we are all together. It's also a serendipity thing lol

Anyway, I know it's not simple but this isn't really a simple read other than to say that it feels like August or the next few months of when you read this you'll see drastic changes in what comes next. But I also feel like you're aware of these changes at the point of reading this that they've already kind of started but it would be like right before it takes into effect. Like if you just found out you got a job and then you haven't quite started it but you are about to or you just started it a week ago.

Just because I have to read everything, there is something a little bit worrying about the six of Wands but I feel like this would be more of a world event. It just bothers me because I could also read it as something potentially happening to a celebrity but that's because when I see six of Wands and a ten of swords clarifying it you would be like okay well this could be somebody famous and then guess what they get stabbed in the back about 10 times. Like hey Julius Caesar moment.

But not really related to your reading It's just something that keeps bothering me. But then when I further clarified, I got empress and the back of the deck head good cards so I think it's more like a repeat of 10 of Wands and wheel of Fortune as in difficult times but guess what success and good fortune is next. Even 9 of Wands clarifying a chariot is like that. You go from being on the defense and determination to rolling right through to success.

I would also note that even though eventually good things will come about from these changes, the initial start of it could be a bit bumpy. But that tends to happen as we transition to new cycles.

10 could be significant in terms of dates as in October or the 10th of August or some month. Especially since I'm getting 10:10 a lot and I saw 1010 as an expiration date on my Jungkook vanilla latte bottle today and I remember thinking oh that would have been funny if it was 10:13 since I tend to see that number a lot. And then I was like oh 1010 that's Naruto's birthday lol. My point being that it's interesting I saw all that before I sat down to analyze the cards so 1010 could be significant for you.

Or 10-6 or August 10th or 6th etc. Or if you aren't reading this around August then the 10th of a month in the next few months. 10 just seem so strong here doesn't it so let's watch out for August 10th and October 10th in the collective. Because besides this rating, there could be something significant that happens on those dates that comes as a bit of a shock to people.

It's funny how pile one so clearly got the tens and this pile clearly got the fours.

August 4th or the 4th of the month could be significant for you. Or fourth house. 4th month. Whatever depending on when you're reading this.

So, I hate to say it because nobody likes that okay I'm stuck and I need to not be stuck and go with the flow lol but you have a reverse hanged man and a four of pentacles. This could be a stuck in the comfort zone thing because four is generally could be about stability or something that would represent the fourth house which is cancer, so having to do with the home and you know where we feel comfortable or family etc

There does seem to be a reluctance to take risks and start something new because what's clarifying this for of pentacles is the fool and the magician, both obviously mean a new start, manifesting new opportunities, taking risks and doing so. But there seems to be something that you're holding on to. It could be that this new venture might take money for you to do and that's an issue and you don't want to spend, it could be other things that you're holding on to that aren't material, but you know on the other side what it could indicate is if you were to take some risk and try to manifest this thing, you could make money from it. Or save up I guess I could say. But that's only if you open up to the opportunity first.

And speaking of I have a couple of cards that indicate that. The four of Wands is clarified by a page of cups, so there is an opportunity or invitation for something that would bring you joy, which could be romance or it could be other things that just bring you emotional fulfillment. If that's some type of social situation, it could definitely be an invitation to a wedding or other celebration that's coming up for you.

It could be that you are somebody who is saving up for a wedding soon or in the present. Or party.

But another opportunity that's coming out with this page of pentacles is clarified by a three of pentacles, so this could be an opportunity to work together with other people. It could be a job or a project, but you're definitely being offered something that would allow you to create and build with another person. This could be a relationship again like a romantic one or even a friendship or it could be a new job opportunity that's about to come in.

However, the hangman reversed is clarified by a knight of swords reversed. This could indicate two things, it could be a stuck momentum from an external situation that has you stuck or it could be a sense of thinking or perspective that's keeping you from going forward. It could also be a reluctance to make some type of decision. But to me, it's looking more like a devil situation where there's something spiritually or intellectually going on where you are holding yourself back from new things. It could be the usual fear of change, could be being lazy, it could be not wanting to leave your comfort zone.

It almost feels like maybe somebody invites you to something or offers you something where you would definitely be working along or interacting with other people to do something, but it's like you have doubts maybe. There's some reluctance. Maybe because it's new. Maybe you need more information. Maybe you need to process what's being offered. But, it seems like you brought it to yourself. It looks like you manifested this thing but now that you have it or have the opportunity it's like okay well it's here now but do I really want it lol

So, I would say the cards say process the information think about it because that's what the hanged man is doing but the hangman if he was upright would be going with the flow and not overanalyzing so much but in this pile, there's overanalyzing being done. That's fair. If it's a new situation, you're going to be relying on other people, it's pretty human to think about it a little bit.

But the invitation seems to be nice. It's from the four of Wands, so it feels like a party or a social invitation or an opportunity to be happy so I don't really know what the reluctance is besides what the four of pentacles might say for you which could be a money issue or holding on to something else that's not material.

It could be holding on to a certain outcome or like waiting for a better offer. But, I mean it doesn't really say yes or no if this would bring you happiness. I mean for wands you could look at and be like well yeah.

But every opportunity is simply what you make of it. The universe gives them out, if you take them cool if you don't well you don't and you'll never know.

But I don't see any red flags here for it. The only red flag here is about the way you're thinking about it or talking to yourself or crippled by some type of decision that you would need to make to accept the offer.

Sometimes when I see a knight of swords reversed besides it being about a stall of some kind, it can be a negative way of thinking or talking. Almost being kind of bitter or hard on yourself and since it's around a reversed hanged man it also gives up feeling of being anti-spiritual I guess. Like getting away from that path and going into a place that's not really beneficial for you.

But once you clear that out, I don't foresee anything negative here besides any minor whatever that might come from anything new that you start. But I will say the other advice could be in this star mother card that says how can you mother yourself. And my guess is maybe you're being hard on yourself or negative in some way in the way you're thinking. Maybe you think you aren't good enough for this opportunity or you can't do it or whatever doubts you may have, this could be a sign to go easier on yourself.

Or it could be advice to be more social or accept more offers as they come when people want to hang out with you instead of questioning why they want to hang out with you, go ahead and do it. Or do whatever you need to do right now to take care of yourself if you need permission for that to focus on you and work out what's going on inside your mind right now. Because you seem maybe a bit confused and there's not as much clarity so maybe focusing on you will help work through that.

And not to say that relationships couldn't be involved at some point here or in addition to work, but it does look like it could be career-oriented since I do think the new opportunity will present something financial so that you can start saving. As if you're going to manifest money. It could even be done in a strange way or new way. It could be through stocks or some type of more risky ventures even. But at the same time, it looks like somebody could be blocking that. Like they are afraid to bring this new thing in and take a risk and try it out but like I said that seems to be the result of the reversed cards.

So, I see opportunities and invitations but I don't know if you'll immediately take them or there's a possibility that you are expecting them and they might be delayed. But they will be situations like social invitations and opportunities to collaborate or work with others. You might have to save up for these things or you might have to let go of something in order to make something happen, you might also have to take risks in order to do that as well.

And pay attention to what you're thinking and what you're projecting with your energy because it's bordering a bit on going negative. And the solution there must be the star mother card which is saying to nurture and take care of yourself.

And in terms of energy, I would say Pisces is here but it's kind of blocked and then Uranus and mercury or Gemini and Virgo.

Numbers or dates that could be significant could be April or the 4th of some month. Especially April 4th if that's a birthday or anniversary. I would also pay attention to Gemini and Virgo seasons depending on when you read this or those transits. Plus like I said Pisces.

I wouldn't be surprised if somebody reads this more toward winter because I feel like there's a lot of energy around early part of next year especially around Pisces to Taurus season. So if you read it around then, definitely pay attention. But there is still that Virgo energy hanging about here so timing wise for people who read this now, I would expect these offers an opportunities to come around then or maybe even I don't know when or ever that Uranus might go into Virgo or Gemini but that could be a prediction for much later into the future since I think that's far off.

Or I guess if you happen to have Uranus in those in your chart. I don't know the timing for those so sorry.

But I could just say maybe Mercury and Uranus are going to have a bit of influence on you at this time or Neptune as well since I think Neptune has been in Pisces for a while although it goes retrograde so oh I guess I should say that since it goes retrograde soon or already did, when a card comes out reversed and it's obviously related to a planet. And everybody knows hanged man is Neptune right. It's upside down so I would also pay attention to what a Neptune in retrograde might mean for your chart or energy.

Maybe this retrograde will delay some type of information or is a signed to stall on some type of decisions until the retrograde is over. I don't really put much stock into that but if you do, it's there. It could also just be a way for the cards to indicate timing saying that these opportunities and whatever are going to happen during the timing of this transit. Which is going on now, I don't know when the Neptune retrograde switches again so you can look that up for timing.

And one last look, it is interesting how the pentacle the four of pentacles is holding and then the light around the head and the hanged man and then the pentacle that the page is holding feel connected. From that perspective, it's like the four of pentacles is holding on to something in terms of a dream or goal. Like clinging to it and not wanting to let go and this could be related to a certain outcome expectation.

But it would make sense because when you have the magician and the full hanging about it's like manifesting a new adventure and holding on to this or whatever and trying to create something new. And it even looks like let's say this person is working the pentacle and creating it with their mind and spirituality or energy since the hangman now has that energy around there head. And then from that, it's like the magician is working to bring it into the material because now the page of pentacles has this thing that you held on to and wanted to form and bring into existence.

But it seems like it's related to something you want to bring into existence that would require other people to help you. Maybe that's what is stalling the manifestation. You have to wait until the right people come in to help you. Whoever these people are in three of pentacles. It could also be that you have a bigger project so you might need money to do it and then when you have the money you can hire these other people to build it if it's like a really big dream.

Like if you want to build a house or become somebody famous or write a book. You would still need money for some of that and then you could hire or invite the right people. That's just an example, it could also be in a spiritual way as in you want to build something and have this certain lifestyle but your soul tribe hasn't come in yet. Well I would say it looks like they're delayed in coming. But there's a reason for it because this hanged man situation shows that some type of perspective needs to change before the opportunity can come in to have these people involved. It could also just be a universal delay due to divine timing.

Because something spiritually and mentally has to be aligned and worked out. I mean beyond this just being about a Neptune retrograde energy whatever, it should still also be about something needing to line up spiritually and mentally. As if like someone's trying to figure out or analyze if this thing is in alignment or meant to be. That's what's interesting about getting a spiritual and a sword card because it's like the human side and the spirit side are both either colliding or like working together in a process that has to happen before this page of pentacles can come in.

And I also think the page can be about learning something new as well so it's like something has to align for the collaboration to happen but also to be able to learn some type of lesson. It could be a lesson about working together or being more open to being with other people as well. Maybe you usually like to work alone or something or can be quite stubborn and you need to figure out that it's not a good thing for you. Like maybe ask other people for help or go ahead and work with other people. So those are all the potential things I see for this pile.

Pile 3

Interesting. I saw several of these cards as I was shuffling and then I came out. And also the way they came out with strange and kind of confused so I'm not surprised to see reversed things indicating a lack of clarity or what to do about something.

I would also not be surprised if you were drawn a bit to pile 2.

So, like I said with pile two, there could be upcoming retrogrades that might cause a situation to stall or this is in general about something being delayed.

Before clarifications, the cards definitely indicate maybe some confidence about a love relationship being an issue or even heartbreak that leads you to feeling insecure about a relationship with somebody. They can also be, not feeling confident in who you are in general. It could be the result of other people. Because this five of Wands could be other people that are negative in your sphere, bringing down how you feel about yourself. It could also be that it's an internal conflict but I can't imagine a random internal conflict making somebody feel insecure, it would probably be brought about by some type of conflict.

I can definitely be a situation where you were disappointed. But it could also be lacking the confidence to move forward or make a decision about something that is true to who you are or would have to do with relationships since the lovers is hanging out here.

What's sitting on your three of swords is a seven of pentacles which is all about waiting in patients and then the queen of swords reversed, which can indicate a lack of clarity or harsh words or thoughts or a lack of decision over a long period of time and then constantly being disappointed or being heartbroken about it.

Specifically for some if this is a relationship whether it's romantic or friendship or whatever it is, you are this person could be a fire sign and maybe it's like your butting heads over something. Or it could be that there's a lot of emotion involved and not a lot of rationale. Because I see a lot of strong energy with the queen of Wands and then we know that there's some type of conflict or competition going on and then we have like impatience.

So either something has taken too long and it's weighing on your confidence or you're getting impatient and picking fights or someone is picking fights with you.

To me it reads a lot like impatience is the issue here. Somebody not willing to wait the time to create this garden or whatever. But if it were a relationship I would say that it could also be something where not thinking clearly and letting emotions take over but the answer seems to be patients.

Three of swords can also indicate a time of not speaking with somebody. It could be not communicating with someone for a long time over a conflict. A situation where things got pretty heated. Especially if one particular person was very bossy.

Because it's almost like maybe the queen of swords and the queen of Wands went head-to-head and maybe things were said that shouldn't have been said. But that's a specific situation.

On the other side for the lovers a lot of cards came out. Lovers is Gemini energy by the way and then we also have fire energy coming out. So maybe a Gemini is involved and that's who the queen of swords is. Or a Gemini with fireplacements or fire person with Gemini placements.

With the lovers, we have Ace of cups and then Ace of Wands reversed, a seven of cups and eight of pentacles. Again it's giving off the vibes from the previous pile but there is an offer right. It could be an offer from this person to reconcile. It could be a new offer that has to do with anything. It does seem to be indicating relationships because of the lovers and cups but it could also be some type of offer that could provide emotional harmony and different aspects of your life. There is an indication also of work here with the eight of cups.

The last pile had something similar because it had three of pentacles. So again it's like there's doubt or an unwillingness to move forward around an opportunity that would involve building something with another person or persons. But it's like you don't know what to do, or you don't feel inspired or there's still this lack of communication I guess or harmony between the other person. I think it could also be a situation where somebody is trying to put out this offer of help or affection or whatever but maybe you are too busy or you would prefer to do it alone.

Or there's just too much going on because the seven of cups can be wow I just have a lot of things on my plate and 8 of pentacles there could be like I'm just too busy with work right now for a relationship or it could be a four of cups situation where you're so busy and you have this opportunity in the cup is right here but you just don't see it.

I would guess like the previous pilot has to do with a mindset that's happening here. There's something else you are focused on mentally that's preventing you from opening up to certain opportunities with people. Now if it's a reconciliation that's up to you especially if you had a previous conflict but that could be something that comes through. During retrogrades especially mercury they say that people come back around this time. I've had a couple of people who I haven't spoken to in years or a long time suddenly come back lately and apologize or suddenly sent me money on Kofi after years of not talking.

So I think sometimes the energy aligns for certain things and people start reflecting and they want to contact you again. So it's up to you whether you want to reply or not. I mean you never have to do anything you don't want to do.

But like I said there seem to be things on your mind and they don't feel very positive. It's kind of like things are happening but I don't know what's holding you back. It will be different for every person. Another way of looking at it like I said with the previous pile is that there is something that you are destined for and it doesn't have to be meeting this person. It's just that the lover sometimes can be about bringing two people together especially soulmates, but it's also more a card about intellectual or spiritual harmony within oneself. And if those things aren't aligned obviously all these other things will be thrown off in reversed in these cards.

Because there is a lot of conflict and doubt and uncertainty here. Even like a lack of inspiration or spark to get something going I guess. And so that can apply to a relationship or any situation like a job or school. But there is some delay here. And it could be that there is waiting on some type of communication.

Maybe there's a universal glitch right now where there are plans that were being worked out for a lot of people in the collective and maybe something big happened that wasn't really expected in the plan even though everything in the plan is always expected but some things for some people might be pushed back for a reason. So if something doesn't happen when you want it as you want it, don't feel like it's not coming. Because the last two piles have shown that there might be a delay here. Or you might have to wait a bit longer. Pile one wasn't like that at all but the second pile was.

It could also be trying to divine the plot of save the last dance though too lol

It wouldn't surprise me given that you got the dance with life Oracle lol. I will tell you with Tarot sometimes it's so literal that you want to do a reading about something and you use these placeholders as inspiration for people to pick the card file but then what happens is the cards will also read the plot or the emotions behind the thing that you're looking at. Because I look at the posters to make sure that I'm connecting the right energy.

On the other hand though what happens is more than likely somebody intuitively connects with a poster because of the feelings that movie gives them so it would make sense that a person connects with the movie for those reasons if they know that movie and then within that reading, those same feelings from the movie and then the person end up being in the reading lol. Because in that movie you know there's this very confident creative ballerina girl who has conflict with her father and then conflict with other people as she moves into the new school and her mother passed away a long time ago so there's this long-standing heartbreak and she's kind of very emotional rather than logical in a lot of her interactions. And then she meets this guy but there's some conflict there blah blah blah. I know this movie is cliche now but it was pretty cool when it came out.

Anyway point being that probably a similar situation as being played out where there's some external conflict happening that's also affecting some in our stuff for you in terms of confidence and patience. There may be a stall to your plans or there may just be an offer of any kind in which you are kind of conflicted on what to do. Or how much you want to invest long-term. It could be like an offer but you're just not that excited about it or you need more information or clarity. Or you might not even see it because you're busy with other things.

I think it's a mixture of job and relationships but it will depend on the person. Anyway so the oracles dance with life says do something to change your energy so again we know that there's something a bit off about your energy and how you're processing a situation or your perspective right now spiritually.

The other Oracle says your guidance is divinely guided. Well that certainly fits the image on the lovers card so there is something coming your way that seems to be divinely planned out for you. But I would guess that there's a bit of a delay or stall or even issues if you want it or are excited about it or maybe it's just doubts.

I would also suggest maybe doing something active to take your mind off of it. Like go outside and have a walk or go do things with friends that gets you active. Because it's like you're so focused on this one thing that maybe if you go do something to take your mind off of it that would help provide clarity or just give you some relief.

So I don't see a specific situation here except as I said it could be relationship but it could be a general offer that has to do with anything like a job or it doesn't matter but there seems to be a lot of confusion and delays and maybe some miscommunications involved here. But the oracles make me think that you need to do something different here to change the way you go about it or the way your perceiving it or also maybe spending too much time dwelling on it has led you into a bit of a spiritual sinkhole.

As a prediction, if you are starting a new job soon or at a job in general, there is the potential that you will meet this person through work or school. I'm leaning more toward work but it's just this last part with this random eight of pentacles, it makes me feel like it hasn't happened yet but you could meet somebody because it's divinely guided. There will be some type of offer but I think it wouldn't happen immediately. Like it's there maybe it will start as friendship. But it doesn't look like there's a spark at first. But the fact that the wand is reversed here could just mean that in terms of timing, you haven't met this person yet. Because when you do meet them, the wand might flip.

And the seven of cups can just indicate there's elements of the unknown. Like the plan is still sort of being worked out. And then the aid of pentacles could indicate it happens at work or when you're studying so at a school. But it's like it just hasn't lined up yet lol. They haven't worked it out quite right on the other side and there have been some delays for a long time.

But part of it I think had to do with you. Not to say you're being punished but as in there were delays on your part where you had to work through some conflict whether internal or external before you could get to this point. But you're still not even there. This would definitely not be a person you've met. So maybe scrap the reconciliation thing although that's something I'll just say to bring up because it does give rebuilding vibes. Like I don't know if I want to rebuild with this person who contacted me but yeah.

However for others I would say the Ace of Wands being flipped indicates you haven't met the person yet. And then seven of cups is almost like there's a fog around it which I read as timing hasn't been figured out but the lovers shows that it will happen lol like there's an angel above bringing these two people together. On a spiritual level it looks like it's like sorry about this but we had some delays so yeah. Kind of like when a pilot comes on and it's like yeah we can't take off for another hour because whatever. That's kind of like what it's saying like lol sorry about that bro

And then the dance with life is kind of like hey how about you just distract yourself with the movie or something until we get this plane off the ground. Like it's basically saying chill out we're working on it technical difficulties.

Meanwhile put your energy into things that are productive. But it will come eventually.

Gates-wise what can I say with the numbers we have a couple of ones, 2 7s, and eight, six a five, a 9 at the back. Yeah so there's like you're somewhere in the middle and then there's an end point and it's like there are gaps between. Although I mean you do have a five six seven eight nine

So it feels more like in the middle to end which is not very helpful and then there are ones here. But like I said it feels like the ones are far away. You know when you get a 10 and a one so you know a cycle has ended This feels more like there's a way to go until the cycle ends for this pile but way ahead there are new things but like I said this feels like a relationship of some type in the further future after some delays

But there is an eight so in terms of dates August 5th through the 9th could be significant or those dates depending on whatever month you read it. Or Gemini season or a Gemini Transit.

I don't know why but I get the feeling that current retrograde transits which at least are Neptune and I don't know what else is in retrograde are creating some type of electromagnetic fog of some sort. I don't know what that means astrologically speaking that's just the sense I get from the last two piles. And it does give retrograde vibes of things being sort of cloudy and needing to reflect on things. And delays.

And I think I said this for the previous pile as well that this could be a serious fallout or verbal conflict with a friend or someone else as well. Like if you are in a relationship you might have an argument with your partner and then there is some offer to reconcile or the potential to but you don't really know how you feel about it or if you want to work on this or if you want to let it go I guess especially if you've already invested a lot of time into it. And I can go for a non-relationship situation. If it's a job and there's a lot of conflict and then maybe they offer you a measly raise to get you to stay but you're like I don't know.

But something has to change because your energy seems a bit low vibrational during this time and I would suggest going with your intuition if something doesn't feel right. Like things that fall away are going to fall away for reasons so you don't need to chase them if the universe is trying to get you out of them. That will be my final advice for you.

Pile 4

Interesting. I was just thinking okay well pile 3 and pile two were similar and I made sense both of those movies had Julia stiles some maybe somebody would be drawn to both of those based on that or those movies being somewhat similar. This movie is different than that. Although I guess I chose movies that were romantic drama comedies kind of that have the same type of plot so maybe the cards pulled from that energy.

Because those movies are all about love and will they or won't they get together and some heartbreaks along the way before they do get together. And the cards keep kind of portraying that energy lol but maybe there's a reason I picked those as my theme. I just watched drive me crazy because I was feeling nostalgic and it was one of my favorite movies back in the day because it's the same plot as a lot of movies but I felt like the characters were a bit more realistic because Melissa Joan Hart isn't like you know a model but she was pretty don't get me wrong I'm just saying that I thought the characters weren't so awful. Kind of like in she's all that. I don't really like that movie.

Anyway, I say that because everybody's getting three of swords lol but keep in mind that I also read three of swords as retrograde or miscommunications or going out of contact with somebody. It doesn't necessarily have to mean a specific heartbreak or disappointment but certainly it can.

Especially because we have the empress here and she represents Venus, the hermit well that certainly could read us having to go into isolation or potentially a difficult thing that happens with a friend or partner and so you have to do some deep thinking about something. But that's kind of what we do during retrograde so that three of swords could indicate okay this is retrograde and this is a time where we're going to think about things related to Venus, which could be self-love or romantic love or abundance or even our physique. Like our physical aesthetic. Which could be related to self-love as well.

So there can be all kinds of things where it's not a specific event but the energy of the universe and the transits and everything is affecting all of a similarly right now. So I would look at things that are in Virgo or what Venus is up to. What retrogrades are happening. When I see the three of swords I think of Mercury as well. And Mercury retrograde but it any retrograde

There does seem to be a pause where a decision needs to be made or some type of crossroad. I was picking up this theme for the last three piles. I thought pile one was a bit more advanced beyond that. But there was the tiniest hint of things falling away.

Like I also said with the other piles there could be a delay of some sorts with that retrograde energy especially when it comes to travel because I see the page of Wands.

And on top of that there's a good sense of timing here for this being Virgo to Libra season. There seems to be maybe travel or the start of something new during this time but you may experience some type of delay or a tough decision that you have to make about something. It could just be that you have to make a tough decision to do something new. Like if you're going to switch jobs or if you're going to move somewhere, it could be a tough decision where you have to give up something in order to gain something. And it looks like you'll have to do a bit of thinking about that.

So with that two of swords and hermit here it's like okay I have to sit and I need to think about what I want to do and then I need to make a decision where maybe both decisions or opportunities are a bit difficult to choose or no matter what you kind of lose something here or you'll be sad about something. Or it could even be that you require a bit more information from somewhere before you can make the decision to do something.

But it does seem too involve a new opportunity with this Ace of pentacles. Every single pile had this show of new opportunities coming through but then they're being a stall or doubts

You have these leap card which reminds me of the fool and then I think it pairs well with the page of Wands because this is somebody who takes risks and just goes with it. But I think you're not probably going with it. There was another pile that had the hanged man in reverse and this is that similar energy in that and maybe something mentally or just externally has caused a delay here for taking this new thing. It could be a fear but I also would totally believe that something gets in the way. You know if you have travel plans and then the plane gets delayed or the flight gets canceled.

But I want you to know that I feel like with every pile that this has come up, that there is a reason that this delay happens. So even if something doesn't go as planned, it's going to happen for a reason. For example, my mom has been trying to get this surgery scheduled for the last 6 months. She had to go to a second doctor because the first one randomly canceled and they started to set up the surgery but then yesterday she got a call from the insurance that this doctor is no longer in the network even though he was when she started the search and they made the plans for this. Which made me really pissed off I'll tell you. Because otherwise she would have to pay $8,000 out of pocket for the surgery lol Even though when she started talking to these doctors in this hospital, it was in network

But that's the American health system for you It's a piece of s*** just like our government. That aside, my point is that can be the kind of delay. And she said last night when I was getting frustrated with the system and I was like who do you need me to call and yell at because I can't believe that you went through all of this for that time and this person was in the system and then randomly they're not in your network and you have to suffer a penalty for it and do this all over again.

But she was like well maybe it happened for a reason and I should go to this doctor. But then she said she really liked the doctor that she was supposed to do the surgery with lol. So on the one hand maybe that would have gone wrong and this one will go better but then what about the other side of it where because of this insurance company the surgery goes funky and something happens to my mom because of this change then essentially this insurance company is responsible for whatever happens there but yes there are things we don't know.

Anything could have gone wrong if she would have stayed on that path and now maybe going to this one will be something different. Or that's what we want to think it's also possible that the world is just s***** and likes to inconvenience everybody and nobody actually cares about anybody.

But that way of thinking would certainly be a hanged man reversed situation if you kept that perspective. If you keep my mom's perspective, you would probably be an upright hanged man

Anyway so all these cards fell out at the same time which is a bit strange. The other piles didn't do that. I guess that could indicate that something might come as a shock or come out of nowhere or happen all at once. And this could be that three of swords two of sword situation where something get started but yeah there's a delay or hiccup

Like me moving out to Nevada and then at the last minute my Airbnb person will call and be like Yeah I'm going to have to cancel lol which happened the last time I used Airbnb

But so let's talk about how we start with hermit which could be Virgo right so in Virgo season you could travel, you could start off some type of journey or adventure something new is happening here.

But potentially by the time Libra rolls around, there could be some type of crossroads here or some decision you have to make and It feels like a hard or heartbreaking decision. But since the ace of pentacles follows, I can't tell if the tough decision will lead to an opportunity or what is offered is the thing that causes some disappointment or heartbreak here. It could also be like I suggested for the others that if you go radio silent with somebody after a conflict that there might be a period of time where you lose contact and aren't communicating but then later on there is an offer of some kind.

So it's very strange because the last three piles are definitely very similar in that there is something new starting, there are opportunities and chances for abundance but then it's like you have to make a tough decision to get there or it's like you do get something but at a cost.

And it's like there's risk involved so you really have to do some deep thinking about what to do or if it's right. And what it looks like all together really is a tough decision. But it can be anything like you get a job opportunity but you have to move away or you lose a friend but then you end up making another. Things like that.

And at the very least, I just see a delay in something maybe because you have to think about it. That seems to be the very least bit of drama I can think of.

It could be that you experienced some type of conflict with someone and are disappointed in them because Libra is also the house of relationships right. So a disappointment with a new relationship or something and you really have to reflect about what you want to do here or what you want to say or a decision you have to make.

That's kind of strange to think about if the thing is new because why would there be so much investment and disappointment with something that is new. So it's more like probably before the opportunity even comes there are a lot of things you have to think about. Including how this decision will affect relationships in your life. It could be a situation where you want to be fair to everybody but I don't think you can. I think it's going to be a situation where somebody's going to be unhappy

But that aside you know if you're looking for advice this is where I picked Oracle cards here and it does say you go first the universe will catch you. So I would guess that a lot of people's doubts seem to be about decisions that would require some risk on your part like the fear of the unknown but the advice is to go for it. If you leap the universe will catch you no matter what you do even if there's some fear here.

I see you reflecting on it and trying to figure out which way is right and they're being some type of emotional thing that's holding you back or causing you pain but the page of Wands is here this leap card is here, I would say do whatever is best for you Don't worry about hurting other people's feelings.

The empress would do her own thing, she does what's right for her. You know all about self-love and taking care of yourself so I would put yourself first in whatever situation that may come up where you have to do a bit of thinking and tough decision making. Because like I said if you lose something, that's the universe's way of cleaning out your social closet or whatever. And when you do let go of somethings, other things will come in because you made room for them. And that could be what that Ace of pentacles is at the end after some decisions and heartbreaks but after you're done thinking about it I would say at the end the universe says go for it. It's scary to take a leap but it seems like the payoff will be worth it in the end.

Also for validation, you might have Venus in Virgo or Virgo or Venus sitting in your 7th house. Or if it's a relationship situation, one of you could be Libra or Taurus and the other Virgo. But I think it will come down to the planetary transits more than anything but those are there. But for me overall there's a lot of Virgo and Libra or Taurus energy here with a hint of retrograde.

Blue Lock hurt me- they know what they did :;) KJKJERkjaerkjekjkjarkjar It was a thing building up, I swear! That last episode...

Speaking of- I DO have a cute Kunigiri headcanon I've shared with a friend before that I'm gonna share with y'all now :D Under the cut for length!

-Okay so: Birthdays. I know in the most realistic canon situation Blue Lock is most likely taking the course of a school semester at best given how quick the matches are with only like- a few days between. (Exception being conditioning periods where they train between selections I believe those take around 6-8 weeks or whatever) but like- here me out.

-Birthdays honestly freaking suck in Blue Lock. It's not so much they're forgotten but rather unless it falls around or on a major holiday, you're stuck there for it. Yes, if you have the points built up you could leave for the day, but it also heavily factors in where you live in comparison to where Blue Lock that makes you wonder if taking the day is even worth it.

-That's kinda Kunigami's problem; his birthday doesn't fall around any vacation time, and he town he lives a good half-day out from the Blue Lock facility so even if he were to use his points to go home, there wouldn't be much of a celebration let alone reunion. He decides to help spare him the heartache to just pretend it doesn't exist.

-And for the most part- it works. No one knows his birthday's coming up and that's how he wants it to be. No one but a certain redhead that is. The thing is- Kunigami made the mistake of mentioning it what feels like a lifetime ago when they all first met. It was part of the whole "Introduce yourself" game they did and that was one of the prompts. Chigiri committed it to memory just because (not because he had a major crush on the ginger before he even knew his name- nope not at all what are you talking about?)

-So the day is here and Chigiri's just: "It's Kunigami's birthday holy-" Of course he doesn't say it outloud yet; it'd ruin the surprise if Kunigami knew he knew. He waits until the Hero's out of the room and in the process of showering before calling a small meeting among Team Z about the day. It's a collective gasp of "His birthday's TODAY?" followed by "Shhhh, not so loud!"s and "What do we do?"s. Thankfully, Chigiri's already got an idea.

-Two groups are made: Team keep the hero distracted and team set up the surprise. The first half is fairly easy; Raichi when desired is rather good at keeping Kunigami busy; lots of "Bet I could beat you in his" and "Is that all your made of?"s. If he can't keep him at bay, the others will. Meanwhile, Chigiri and Isagi cash in points to go out the morning. Naturally they have to tell either Anki or Ego where they're going, but that's also part of the plan cause they need them.

-To their good fortune, Anki absolutely loves the idea Chigiri had in mind and helps them out both financially and with the super important part of their plan. She's getting it all going while Chigiri and Isagi head to the nearest convenient store, getting the last of what's needed ready.

-By the time everything is set up, Kunigami's in the shower exhausted. He worked extra hard today due to the strange competitiveness of his teammates- maybe they realized he was down and tried distracting him? He kinda shrugs it off and heads out fully dressed-

-SURPRISE! He almost has a heart attack when the team screams at him. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" The room was decorated with little party things they could find, their makeshift table a combination of convenient store goodies and hearty meals from the cafeteria. Among it all's a humble little cake with "Happy Birthday, Hero" sprawled across it (clearly in Iemon's handwriting- he's got the best in the room). A phone's playing music in the corner and everyone's got party hats because why not? He's so touched by the gesture he almost cries.

-And the party is going really well! They're all snacking and laughing, ribbing Kunigami some for not telling them, just having a great vibe all around. No one will say who's idea it was- though our Hero's got a guess.

-Then the real kicker happens. Ego's face comes up on the screen and everyone's just: "???" Until he's all: "Kunigami Rensuke, a message came for you." Before he fades out and the screen is replaced by-

-"Happy birthday Rensuke!" It's a video message from his parents! Instant tears, Kunigami's got his sweatshirt sleeve pressed against his mouth as his parents wish him a good day and remind him that they love him and miss him. They tell him how proud they are of him and what he's doing, and it's just sappy and sweet. His sisters come on next and it's even more teary when his oldest goes "Take home the gold, striker hero." And his baby sister with her little tooth gap and massive grin is waving at him with both hands going "We love you, Ren!"

-By the time the video is over the room's a mess- some more weepy than other's especially at how touched Kunigami is by it all. Isagi's joking about "It's his party, he'll cry if he wants to!" while barely fighting his own tears back and Raichi's mumbling something about onions and the room's laughing once more cause they're all just so happy for the ginger.

-It's much later in the night when Kunigami puts two and two together. He goes out to the cafeteria cause that's where he saw him go, finding the team princess filling his water bottle up and yawning sleepily after a day full of adventure. He doesn't get a chance to even greet him before Kunigami envelops him in a hug, all but lifting him off the ground. "You did all that for me."

-"It was a group effort." Chigiri says automatically, voice muffled against the warm fabric of Kunigami's sweatshirt. It's nice though, and he's suddenly hyper aware of the fact the hero smells nice and has equal parts muscle and squish along his body that feel really good to lay against and could easily pick him up and- oops he's crushing bad again.

-"I was just gonna pretend it didn't exist, my birthday." Kunigami lets him go some, eyes misty and smile so warm and kind it melt Chigiri almost immediately. "How'd you know?"

-"I guess a princess remembers his hero's special day." Chigiri just kinda shrugs but feels so stupid and cheesy with that line that he gets all embarrassed but Kunigami's living for it and hugs him again. "I know I've said this already but...happy birthday, hero."

-And Kunigami reaches out and brushes Chigiri's hair out of his face with such gentle fingers before he asks: "Thanks...hey, could I be selfish and ask for one more gift on my birthday?"

-"Sure, go for it." Chigiri doesn't know if it's midnight or not- he doesn't really care at this point.

-"Could I....could I kiss you?" He's so shy asking and Chigiri's over the moon with how bad he just wants to grab his collar and smash their faces together right now but he's gonna play it cool and make it special- fuck it.

-Some self restraint is used- Chigiri doesn't smash their faces together but he's not wasting time with slow beats either. It's like receiving a tall cold glass of water after a long hot summer day how amazing it felt to finally FINALLY kiss him. And Kunigami clearly feels the same when he's grabbing him by the waist and pulling him against him like he's the only thing keeping him leveled in a world without gravity. When they pull away, Chigiri's flushed and grinning and says against his lips "Nice enough of a gift, hero?"

-"Oh yes- can we do it again, princess?" And that's how their night goes, just two boys falling in love with each other under the cool lights of the cafeteria, water bottle forgotten and not a care in the world who walks in or is watching them in that moment.

Going Forward

Obviously, a few things to be said here.

As one might expect given that I'm a trans woman, I am against transphobia. I'm also, broadly, against generative AI (while acknowledging that it can have non-art-theft uses in specific circumstances please don't @ me AI people). So you can guess that the last couple of weeks here on Tumblr haven't been great!

I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do, moving forward from here. I've been fortunate to build a following here, and it's helped me with not only my writing, but our band's music as well. This whole situation with Tumblr really taking a nosedive has had me pretty crushed today, to be honest. I don't want to lose all you nice folks, and I do rather like when the things I create actually get seen.

It's clear that I can't be comfy just hanging out on Tumblr, though, so I've made a few decisions about how I'm going to do things.

I'm still going to be active here, but I am going to be significantly more careful about what original work I share here. I have, of course, slammed every single do-not-scrape preference I can find, but Tumblr no longer has any benefit of the doubt. I will keep sharing writing, but it will take the form of links to AO3 or my own site. I will no longer be sharing any work-in-progress text or prose here. And I am going to be very careful when sharing works by other artists that I know and care about.

New Melody Project will continue to be hosted primarily on AO3, with eventual mirrors on my own site as well. As for Magica Riot, I'm not sure how that'll be published. That's a question for the future, once it's actually done. It's definitely not going to be posted here, though.

In a general sense, I will be linking to things on more creator-friendly platforms when possible. I'm going to start making much greater use of my own self-hosted personal site, niconicorose.com, for that purpose. It's abundantly clear that if you want to do it right, you have to do it yourself. I'll be using that for a lot more posts and articles and writing, and I've also begun the (very lengthy) process of mirroring all of New Melody Project there, but that'll take a while.

I'm starting up a self-hosted blog on my site, too, for other updates.

I will be making more use of other platforms. Currently, that is Bluesky, Mastodon, and Cohost. I'm also taking a look at Pillowfort and Dreamwidth, but have nothing to report there yet.

I consider this to be essentially a reboot of my presence here, and so I'll be making new intro/link posts and a new master post for New Melody Project as well.

2024 Goals

So, I know, I'm a little late for this given it's a solid week (or so) into the new year, but hey, better late than never, right?

My Real Life this year will primarily involve working to pass my course in order to become fully qualified in my new job. Fortunately, from about June onwards, that's going to give me a fair bit of time to work on writing, so I figured I'd try and put down some relatively specific goals regarding the WIPs I have.

My biggest issue with writing is finishing things. Since I joined writeblr, I've gone from having no WIPs in anything approaching a complete state, to three completed first drafts (Absent That Night, The Monstrosity, and Miles To Go) and one completed zero draft (Psyche Shards). That in itself in astonishing for me, but I'd also like to continue to work towards having 'publishable' (read: clean, cohesive, comprehensible) drafts. With that in mind, this year I am going to work on four projects.

Project One is going to be the Vibes WIP. This is my 'first draft' project, ie something I'm starting without a whole lot of words down. I'm also approaching it in a novel way for me (working from vibes), so it's somewhat of an experiment in that sense as well. This is the project aiming to feed my need for discovery and chucking in cool shit that occurs to me over the course of my life.

(It's also pretty heavily linked to my new job, which is part of the reason I've decided to make it a key project this year. Any luck I'll be able to twist most new ideas/inspiration to fit within the scope of what I'm writing. Plus the actual form of the WIP is experimental enough that I can probably chuck in other random inspirations as well and deal with it later.)

Project Two is Psyche Shards. I have a (pretty much) complete zero draft for this, so I'll say the aim is to finish draft 1.5. This will be another new experience, in that I'll be writing from what amounts to a detailed outline; something I've never done before. I hope it will help me to pin down a process that allows me to finish more WIPs -- if writing from the zero draft works to keep the wordcount down to something reasonable, and is faster than my normal sort of draft one, then it will help to inform how I approach WIPs from here on out.

(I should mention, regarding wordcount, that the zero draft is 27k words. Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I am a chronic fucking overwriter. So I'm hoping that having what I need to put down in front of me will help quell that issue. There's also issues with the climax of this WIP I still need to work out, but I think beginning to draft it in earnest will be the only thing that will fully help with that.)

Project Three is Absent That Night. 🥳 I've been saying for, like, over two years now that I'm going to write a second draft of this beast, and it's becoming my white whale, so it's about time I knuckle down and give it a go. It's intimidating as fuck because of how much I need to change, but I owe it to Latrell to sort my shit out, because it's a story I would really like to tell, and I cannot write either of the two sequels I have planned if I haven't wrangled the first installment into something coherent.

Project Four is theoretical, and a project-of-grace I'm giving myself in case I'm smacked with inspiration that just won't go away. I am going to try and make this a relatively high bar, however. I have an 'inspo' document where I can jot down notes and vague ideas, and I'm going to primarily use that for new ideas. If something does persist and develops on its own without my having to take time to sit down and think about it, then I will allow my muse to take me where it will and consider it project four.

(Ideally, I'd like to close out this year without touching a Project Four. Because, as I said, my main problem is starting things and then not finishing them, and this sort of random inspiration is a key reason why that happens.)

So there it is! Three/four key projects that I would like to work on for this year. I don't yet have any dates or deadlines regarding them, because up until March work is going to take priority and I don't want to stress myself out too much with anything else going on. However, I'm hoping to do a monthly update for the start of the year letting people know where I'm at, and if/when I get properly into working on any of these projects I'll increase the frequency of updates and sharing.

Another goal I have is perpetual, which is to be more active on here. I'm working on actionable steps to make this a reality, however, and I hope that that will bear fruit. There are far too many amazing, talented people on my dash to not spend at least some time on here every week. So I apologise to people who like numbers and deadlines (I'm one of them!), but these more ambiguous goals are the way I need to be at this point, and I'm enjoying the way they're inspiring me regardless. ^_^

Jockbull Summer Week 2 (19/11/23-25/11/23)

Went hard with the push ups this week. It gives me such a euphoric rush. I’ve built my chest in the gym normally so by the time I've got a pump from doing a single set of push ups I've got my own set of stress toys to flex and play with. The highest score for this week was 36 with no backtracking. One notable Session involved Scandinavian_King(of Set C fame) pushing me harder and harder to keep doing sets past my first one. Each time to failure. I get so easily riled up with shit like that. Guys taking advantage of the muscle lust to push me harder. I think that night I got a total of 90 in a 5 min span.

Muscle related competition was a bit sparse this week. K was out sick so no push up rival. I did end up trying to beat my great friend Teal’s record of 50. That did not work. But I'll get there. Need to get there. Need to fucking win.

This is a fortnightly task but I have noticed an issue. It is related to the problem of me defaulting to these shitty pieces of clothing just cause they are there. I wear them, they make me feel like a dysmorphic trash bag and then because I wear them they are dirty and get put in the wash basket. Which interrupts me being able to instantly put them in the Task box. Luckily I've got some Rawgear stuff coming to pad out the wardrobe before I get to those pieces.

This was the first time I actually got to practice the accent with Jockrs. Truth be told, I'm fucking great at that kinda stuff. I’ve always had a natural ability for voice modification and accent work. So i put it at like a 5/10 on the intensity scale for the whole time we were on the call. Jockrs didn’t fare as well. Obviously it’s a little harder to go from Aussie to Cali than my more neutral “trans-atlantic” mess. One thing i'd like to overcome in this whole process is the Irony poisoning. I spent so much of my life as a Snarky sarcastic dweeb. So much of my life being “Ironic” and joking about without taking things to the genuine core of me. So even this task it’s difficult to get started because in the first couple minutes you’ve got that awkward Irony block for doing something that feels affected. It was such a fun experience tho. After a while the voice just flows through you and it is such a flowey, breathy voice. So fluid and easy.

Rather than describe every BtG episode I'm going to focus on different things that I love and how this show absolutely scratches some old fantasies from my days as a dumb teenager in the musclegrowth kink community. Episode 3 where Baki is placed in a normal high school athletics test, and because of his sheer strength and inhuman physique is completely out of bounds and therefore almost flunks. Absolute Muscle RP fuel. Add to that all the gore and viscera in the other scenes. It’s very itch scratchy and possibly kink forming if you’ve got the abyss already bubbling away.

I am a glutton for punishment and I made an extra task for myself in each of the sets. I did this by drawing tarot cards. Letting the universe speak to me to guide my journey. For this set I drew a Wheel of fortune which talks about fortunate initiative, spontaneity, random success, equality of souls.

And i translated that to "Take more chances with guys in the gym" I hopped on this one quick too. 

I had to kinda work myself up for it but this really chill seeming asian dude with nice curly hair who has legit been at the gym the same time as me for i'd wager 80% of my workouts.

He was just resting and I asked his name and stuff complimented him and asked his goals.

His name is Adrian, he used to do a lot of sport and was focused on strength gains back in high school, but now he's in uni and is more focused on just looking good.

He goes to my school but does law and commerce so unlikely we'll ever share a class or even be there at the same time.

He asked some of my stuff yada yada.

And he kept saying super low under his voice like "you're so huge dude. So huge"

And then when he was leaving he came and said goodbye. It seems small, I know but it’s a big achievement for me every time I make a gymbro. It’s hard making friends in this country.

10 years ago today.

Despite playing the beta and loving it, I actually didn't buy A Realm Reborn on release for a few reasons - I was just about to start my third and final year at art school, didn't have much money and my laptop at the time struggled with the game, plus I knew about the server issues going on at launch so I didn't feel too bad for missing it. I owned a PS3, but I'd heard what everyone said about it being inferior to playing on PC, so I was hesitant, but a couple of weeks later I bought it for PS3 anyway because I really wanted it. I feel like that was perhaps the first time that FFXIV helped me to cast off the influences of others and make my own decisions.

The first character I made in the game proper was a Duskwight arcanist. He doesn't exist any more, but I found screenshots of him the other week when I dug out my PS3. Back then, I was excited by the amount of options in character customisation because I hadn't played an MMO before with the level of variety that XIV had. I played around with a whole lot of different characters, most of them being on the extreme ends of things - unnatural blue and green skintones, tiny Lalafells, huge Roegadyn women who towered over everyone else. I really liked that those were options for the protagonist of a game because I hadn't played many other games where they could take a leading role. The first character I took to level 50 and spent the most time on, to start with, was one of those, but it took me much longer to realise that I was playing a character who I wanted to exist in the world, but not one that I actually connected with on a personal level.

Early on I also messed around with male Miqo'te and Midlanders, and I made a couple I really liked, but I was reluctant to actually commit to them and I think it was because I felt like I "shouldn't" - because it was predictable to be an anime catboy or a plain old human man, it was boring, those things had been done before. In a game that allowed you to be some combination of traits that was hardly ever seen in a protagonist role, why would you pick something that was basically... a trope? That's kind of how I felt, or rather, had been made to feel. I was mildly embarrassed that I wanted to be a catboy, so I resisted it for a while.

Eventually, though, I did take the plunge to make one and level him alongside a friend who had picked up the game a few months later.

That was Ayin'a. That was really where things began to change for me. I was finally playing a character who I really felt a connection with, who I felt actually represented some part of me rather than ones who I absolutely loved being part of the world, but just weren't really "me". I started to write, to roleplay, to create, to form connections with people with him as my avatar. I was enjoying myself and I was inspired in a way I hadn't really felt... probably since I was a child, because I was doing things from the heart, rather than trying to follow an idea of what I thought I should be doing.

A lot has happened since then and it's way too much to go into here, but this for me was a huge turning point that provided me with inspiration and passion to hold on to in some very, very bleak times in my life. And from there, more came - with a better understanding of what I found interesting, what I liked in a character, what I was interested in exploring and writing... My identity began to solidify thanks to this process. After a long, long long and dreadful slump I started to make art again because of FFXIV. And now, I'm fortunate enough to be in a position where I can call making art my career, where I can look forward to what the future may hold for me as an artist, because of the experiences I've had with this game.

Incidentally, Ayin'a himself is now retired as of Endwalker, both in and out of character. For as much as he means to me, he was never intended to be "the" Warrior of Light, and as soon as I was able to make a character who suited that role (it only took 6+ years...), I started winding down his role as my "main" in a gameplay sense, because at last I had character who belonged in those MSQ cutscenes rather than having to feel mild uncomfortable as I watched them feature a character who would absolutely not be in that role.

Plus, when it comes to his own story, he's had enough too - he made a bunch of money, got married, settled down in his beachside house with a bunch of odd pets and his husband to be a reclusive and grumpy yet altruistic neighbour. He's still around, and always will be, both in FFXIV and in other worlds I choose to transport him too, but for now that chapter is over. I'll always have a soft spot for him and how he was the start of my journey to understand myself and find my place in the world, just as I'll always be grateful for all the many, many ways in which FFXIV changed the course of my life.

I'm looking forward to the next ten years, and there were times in the not so distant past when I had no hope that I'd ever say such a thing truthfully.
