"You'll think it's silly, but...th-that one came to me in a dream."
That was one of the most recent designs he'd done, and one that hit him like a thunderbolt. Sometime in the wee hours of the morning only a few short days ago, almost a week now, he had the most intense dream of that dress, and the woman wearing it. He never saw her face in this dream, but every detail of the gown-every pattern of lace, every fold of fabric, every cut and length and stitch-was seared into his memory that when he awoke, he immediately reached for the notebook, determined not to lose the design for anything.
"I don't even know where it came from," he confessed with a small shrug. "It just...came to me, and I wasn't able to forget it from then on." Such an intense dream, he really couldn't say where it came from, but it had entranced him anyhow-his only wish was that he'd gotten to see the woman's face; all he knew was that she was a blonde...
(...and somehow, in his heart, he knew she must be very beautiful...)
"H-Have you, uh...ever had a dream like that? Y'know, one that just...comes out of nowhere, you don't know where, but...it stays with you long after you wake up?"

On the topic of pet loss, I drew this comic after my sweet Goopy passed away. I have a working list of art ideas, and for 5 long years at the very top of my idea list was “Comic where I take Huey and Goop to McDonald’s that ends with no punchline.” Every time I wanted to draw something I’d see that idea first, but always kept pushing it back for another time. When Huey passed away I thought about just deleting it, cause I felt like it was too late to draw it, and reading it made my heart hurt. But I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of it, so taking them to McDonald’s remained at the top of the list. Then, about a year later, I lost Goop to cancer. It came out of nowhere, and within two weeks he was gone. Almost all of my prompts were about him, I loved drawing Gooby. I was so distraught I couldn’t even turn on my work computer and face it. And when I finally felt good enough to draw again, there was that prompt staring back and me. And I thought, you know what? Fuck it, it’s never too late to take them to McDonald’s. If I can’t see them in life, I want to see them in art. I don’t want to stop loving them the way I do now. So, I took Huey and Goop to McDonalds, with no punchline.

okay so. i challenged myself to try and draw some snakes and try to capture the features i want to stand out for them. i wanted to see if i could make them all look distinct but where its obvious they look extremely similar.
Tumblr media
heres the main lineup but i want to get into design elements for them as well as some personal headcanons.
FIRST! bibo.
Tumblr media
okay so. i'm going to toot my own horn here. i think his beard looks so fire and i did a good job. i imagine this design is around the portable ops era... not much else to say because most of the interesting stuff (at least to me) comes from the differences the others have from him.
V!!! I LOVE YOU V!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
for venom snake, i made him look like big boss but Something's Off. in the game people often (notably huey and the boss' ai) don't recognize him as big boss for a few seconds. an imperfect replica because you cannot get that close with plastic surgery. i made the fat distribution on his neck a bit different from bibo's because i imagine the way that the human body configures itself is hard to change. if you noticed the little snake-tongue-shaped-hair-doohickeys, he is the only one with a slightly different shape. it's a genetic thing, you wouldn't get it. just thought that was silly. his hair texture is different, too. can u tell i like him a lot. also, my favorite detail might be his different nose shape. they never got bibo's nose right i guess. in mgsv, he actually has a bit of a downturned nose, and i honestly don't think i captured that enough.
TIME FOR MY FAVORITE BOY. LOVE OF MY LIFE. HOLDER OF MY GENDER ENVY. solid snake :3
Tumblr media
SNAVID! the most obvious difference here is his nose. he broke it as a kid lol. i love headcanons. there's not as much to say about him as with venom, but i can say that he is incredibly handsome and i like him. i think he is cute. was he free yesterday? if so i would like to have dinner yesterday with him yesterday. well... i will say that out of this specific lineup i think he looks the most like good old dad. which is awful and i feel bad for him.
FINALLY: LIQUID!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
i gave him his canonical sharp nose and high cheekbones! i based a lot of his features off how he looked as a kid so he really has little shit vibes about him. he also has thinner eyebrows, and i headcanon that he does them himself lol. he has less sideburny sideburns than his brother. his eyelids are also smaller. he also does look kinda like kaz so its plausible that he tricked dave! yippee! i also like drawing his hair. its such a great hairstyle. it reminds me of a lion's mane.
N E WAYS... i hope you enjoyed me rambling about giving these goobers a more realistic design for future reference. i like talking about this kind of stuff. life is so much better without same face syndrome.

As someone who kinda understands Japanese, the way the characters talk really adds a lot to their personality. I'm the type of person who really pays attention to the types of pronouns they use and Kuya's speech drives me nuts every time!!!
Okay, so first of all, we all know that Kuya has high regard for himself and that's justified. He's powerful and the wise old fox of the group plus, he's been with Huey the longest. With that being said, he talks way too respectfully and that gap in character really sells it for me.In Japanese he refers to himself as "boku" which is a very respectful term for a males. It's used in more formal settings or just situations that require more tact and manners in general. That's not all though, he uses it in its kanji form "僕" which means that it's even MORE formal! Just how cute is that?
Next, he never really refers to people with the pronouns for "you". He doesn't use terms like "omae", "anata", or "kimi" towards Eiden and the clan members but instead refers to them as titles like "wolf pup" for Garu/Karu, "old friend" for Quincy etc. This is just another show of Kuya talking very politely because using second-person pronouns can be seen as informal or rude in Japanese. As for Eiden, he refers to him as "Eito-san". Calling people by their names is just more respectful. In English, it's translated as "young master" and I think that's just a way for us to see how he still recognizes Eiden's position in some way. He also refers to Rei as such, so we can definitely see that Kuya recognizes hierarchial positions despite his personality. Even just generally, he uses "desu" and "masu" often so YES fox boy is very very respectful in his speech.
This is just word vomit so I don't know if I'm making any sense but I just cry inside everytime Kuya has new voiced lines because I also love the intonations in his voice. I don't really know Japanese fluently but I know enough to be able to play Japanese only games so if anyone wants to correct me or elaborate feel free to do so!

Also ngl I did enjoy the story yes it was fun etc but. Part of me still wish we got something else for the Kuya and Rei event.
We know they're complete opposites in the way they view Huey. Kuya saw him as a man whose intellect was indeed enough to be on pair with his own knowledge and joined the clan simply because of curiosity and amusement and this was even mirrored on the journey to a nu world event where he was the only member besides the familiars who stood by the 'demon kings' side. If not love, admiration was most certainly there.
On the other side you have Rei, who in Huey's own words didn't hate him but despised him. Rei had no choice but to join the clan as he was born with the gemstone and, even when offered, decided to stay with it for his own reasons. Huey constantly provoked Rei, saying the potential he saw on Rei was a mistake and that without Huey's lent essence he'd never be able to fulfil his lowly aspirations. Huey is the only character Rei has insulted with harmful intent in the game until now.
The fact we could have gotten an event focusing on Huey's person and the complete opposite effect he had on two similar people would be good. One who saw Huey as an equal and another who saw him as nothing other than a means to an end. And even so both of them are still quite similar in the way they behave.
I don't know. I do like the event but I feel it could have been so much more

Idk just.... something about Dewey missing Della his entire life. Not missing Della specifically, but missing whoever stood in the empty space she left behind. Something about Huey and Louie being pretty okay with not having a mom, never really needing to question it because they feel like they have enough. But then Dewey was always there in the middle just missing someone. Something about Dewey needing more love, more attention, as a little duckling. And as soon as he hears that he should have a mom, but doesn't, he's the one asking all the questions. And Donald finding it too painful to answer, the wound too open still, and Dewey feeling shut down and put out.
Something about Huey and Louie being okay, and Dewey needing to be okay just so they can all move on.
Something about Della coming back, Huey being accepting, Louie opening up, and Dewey being ECSTATIC.
Something something something but if Dewey missed someone he'd never even known or met before THAT MUCH how much do you reckon he'd miss someone who had always been there and then suddenly isn't. How much do you reckon he'd never have imagined missing someone so much until he had to. How much do you think he likened getting Della back as finally filling a whole that had always been there... before someone who he'd been attached to since birth isn't there anymore and he has to come to grips with realizing that this is what it's really like to just need someone back.

Merc aux access
(here are some of my headcanons for what the mercs music tastes could be, probably very inaccurate with the time period they live in)
Scout: has no aux access. Is very PROHIBITED TO BLASTING HIS “shitty white boy music” as others call it. It is not. It is art, TOM JONES IS ART. He has an okay music taste it’s just that it’s all about love n shit and that gets the mercs depressed. A bit of pop but surprisingly (or not) mostly hip hop.
Engie: also has no aux access despite being the one to modify and improve the music player in the base. Would play an overbearing amount of country. At first it was fun but then the country blues came and everyone got depressed again. Will still play country by himself with his guitar tho, if given the chance will do a little performance, then it kindda turns intoo it’s own orchestra since a lot of the boys know how to play instruments, it’s a great time for everyone. Johnny Cash is his god and Dolly is his queen.
Soldier: plays anything American per usual. Despite blasting the anthem one too many times is still allowed to choose music because he can pick some good songs from “Huey Lewis and the News” or “Earth, Wind & Fire”
Medic: absolute maniac, the most unpredictable out of all of em (and that says a lot in a team that has Pyro). Will sometimes go the whole evening having peacefully classical music to help everyone “focus” but then will start blasting heavy metal laughing maniacally. Is the true definition of “I like every genre”
(They are too afraid to take the aux away from him)
Demo: self explanatory, likes anything with accordions and bagpipes. But does genuinely enjoy orchestra music or any songs with strong buildups to big climaxes. Sits there on the edge of his seat waiting for the transition between Beethoven's 5th the 3rd and the to the 4th movement even tho he’s listens to it a million times. Still makes him tear up.
Sniper: not much of a music enthusiast since he’s mostly alone in a very quiet place mumbling to himself all the time, but surprising enjoys jazz when given the opportunity. It’s the only time he really looks like he’s enjoying himself, tapping away, so no one dares to disturb him those moments.
Spy: 60’s French jazz, can probably name 10 artists on top of his head. Says it’s for “culture” and “mission reserch”. Is just a huge nerd for that genre but will never admit it. Yes, Sniper comes to listen and they sit there statically, but don’t let that device you on the inside they are overjoyed.
Heavy: will play classical Russian ball music or even songs from old cartoons and sing along with them not messing up a single lyric. Gets very emotional, knows how to slow dance a bit but is too insecure to try. Engie offered to guide him, tho says Spy would be better since he knows how but Heavy refuses knowing how harsh Spy can be, he can’t handle that much. He don’t wanna look like little baby. Hopes to show Medic his skills when he’s confident enough tho.
Pyro: anything that is upbeat (that can come with repercussions since they have trouble understanding speech so mostly don’t care for the lyrics and we all know that happy sounding doesn’t always have the same meaning lyrically). Also tracks that have clear instrument sounds. Likes to pretend play one of them and can match the beat very easily if they want to tap it out on the table.

D&Ducks
So, I was originally going to make this post for when I hit 300 followers, but I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon, and I’ve been thinking about this for way too long, so fuck it. I’m just gonna post this now and see what happens.
In case it wasn’t obvious from the hints I’ve scattered through Aftermath, I am a huge D&D nerd. I love playing the game, I love running the game, I love the monsters, everything. And what I particularly love doing is building characters and monsters for the game. I use a lot of custom monsters for the games that I run, even though I don’t end up using all of them, and what I’ve done in the past is that I created character sheets and stat blocks for some of our favourite anthropomorphic ducks. In fact, on my main blog, I documented a solo adventure that I ran by myself, for myself, in story format as I put these duck characters through a premade advennture! (I eventually stopped, because playing a D&D game by yourself is as dull as it sounds)
So today, I’m going to revisit those roots and lay out how I would build the Ducktales characters as tabletop RPG player characters! This is something I’ve given way too much thought to, so be warned – this is going to be quite long-winded, with little to nothing to do with Aftermath itself, and of interest to only a small subset of people.
Let’s begin!
The Basics
I want to preface this whole thing by mentioning that while I’m going to try and describe these characters in a way that can be transposed onto any RPG system, I’m going to be using the Pathfinder RPG (1st edition) as a basis for these characters, just because it’s what I’m most familiar with at the moment. The basics are the same – roll a 20-sided dice, add a number and hope to get a big enough total – but there are more nitty-gritty rules and it's way easier to kill off your characters.
Another thing to keep in mind is that I’ll be inserting these characters into a D&D setting of my own creation, rather than any pre-existing settings. I don’t have a name for it, but essentially this setting is an undisciplined mix-and-match of characters from different IPs that interest me. The McDucks, in this setting, live as a powerful noble family in a kingdom of united beast-folk families.
Final thing is that even though these guys are anthropomorphic ducks, they’re going to have the racial traits of humans to make things simpler on me. I’ll also be giving them a swim speed of 15 feet in addition to those traits.
Dewey
This spry duck stands with the cockiness of an ambitious hero, a sword in each hand. A bright blue tabard, tattered from numerous skirmishes, flows down his chest to cover steel armour of haphazard construction.
Age: 16 Alignment: Chaotic Good Class/Level: Fighter 3/Bard 1 Ability Scores: STR 16, DEX 16, CON 14, INT 10, WIS 8, CHA 14
In this world, the triplets were raised by their uncle Donald in a quiet fishing village on the outskirts of the city of Duckland, in the providence of Calisota. They never got so much as a hint of their caretaker’s history as an adventurer, not until they found their uncle’s old adventuring gear, stowed away in the attic of their house. Among this gear was two finely made swords, both of which Dewey snatched up and started swinging around – resulting in the destruction of several family items and the near decapitation of Huey. Donald was forced to tell the triplets of his past as an adventurer, and the revelation shook them to the core. To make up for it, he decided to teach them how to adventure properly, in the hopes that if they wouldn’t be persuaded out of their trouble-making instincts, he could at least teach them to be safe while doing it.
Dewey remains the chief chaos-monger of the triplets. Ambitious and eager to live up to his family name, Dewey often throws himself into danger without hesitation, giving no thought to possible traps, uneven terrain, or indeed, the strength of whoever he’s fighting against compared to his own. He makes up for his recklessness by being virtually untouchable in a fight, deflecting swords, claws and spells with his twin swords. The longer blade, named Helios, was once wielded by his Uncle Donald. The shorter blade, Asteria, was his mother’s.
Against intelligent foes, Dewey never fights to kill – a trait unique to the McDuck adventurers – but rather, he tries to disarm and trip his foes, intimidating them into surrender. He’s remarkably acrobatic, and his fights are often performative in nature – hence his level in Bard. The sheer bravado he displays in combat inspires his family to fight even more fiercely and distracts his foes long enough for him to knock the wind out of them.
Huey
This anxious duck wears a heavy breastplate and a red cap, a collapsible spear slung around his back. He holds a large, heavy book bound in red leather with the letters ‘WJW’ imprinted upon it.
Age: 16 Alignment: Neutral Good Class/Level: Cleric 2/Wizard 2 Ability Scores: STR 14, DEX 10, CON 12, INT 16, WIS 15, CHA 13
Though regarded as a do-gooder by his brothers, Huey Duck is just as brave, ambitious and adventurous as the other McDucks. He took the role of the older brother quickly, seeing himself as a caretaker of his brothers and, prior to moving into Manor McDuck, the fixer-upper of torn clothes, broken furniture, and the like. With a resourcefulness and intellect beyond his years, Huey takes the role as both the primary healer of the party and – when the occasion calls for it – the firepower.
Huey originally had his heart set on joining the Woodchuck rangers, a group of survivalists and wilderness protectors on the outskirts of the world. While there, he met clerics and priests of Artemis, goddess of the hunt, with whom he made a rapport with. He even began to learn the ways of these wilder clerics, learning magic that could heal, magic that could wound, and magic that let him shape the natural world around him. In the end, however, he was rejected by the rangers, for while his survival skills were impeccable, his fighting prowess left much to be desired. Disheartened, but determined to make use of what he’d learned, he continued his studies of the ways of Artemis, delving deeply into his survival skills and the art of restorative magic.
At some point during his escapades with his uncle, Lord Scrooge McDuck, Huey became enamoured with the other side of magic – that of the arcane. He poured over arcane tomes, taking on wizardly studies in addition to his clerical practices. He has recently begun leaning more heavily towards wizardry, for while he’s grateful to Artemis for his abilities, he considers the goddess to be more of a tutor than an idol to be worshipped. He’ll never be the strongest of Artemis’s faithful, and he’s made peace with that – wizards get more exciting spells, anyway.
Louie
This youthful duck leans against the alley wall, his head concealed by a dark green hood. He smirks at you, absent-mindedly flipping a coin up and down in the air.
Age: 16 Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Class/Level: Rogue 3/Sorcerer 1 Ability Scores: STR 9, DEX 15, CON 12, INT 12, WIS 13, CHA 18
Thief. Charlatan. Snake. Louie Duck has been called many things, and he’s never let any of it stick. He’s out for himself and his family first, and what he’s out for is treasure. Coins, gems, jewellery – he doesn’t care. He loves it all. He’ll do the right thing for his family (though not without a fair share of grumbling), but he always makes sure he gets something out of it, and he isn’t above guilting or threatening the other party into upping his eventual reward.
Louie is a rogue. Obviously. He specializes in deceit, coercion, lock- and trap-picking, and even forging documents, if the opportunity is ripe. He tries to avoid combat if he can help it, but when he’s eventually forced into it, he relies on being able to feint against his opponents to catch them off-guard. When this doesn’t work, his alternative strategy is to bamboozle his foe, trying to convince them that he’s on their side, or that there’s a bugbear behind him, or that they don’t really want to hurt him. And when that fails, he panics, runs away, and then takes potshots from afar with his crossbow.
During one of the family’s adventures, Louie came really close to death. A screeching owlbear had ambushed the party and cornered Louie alone. Disarmed, wounded, and terrified, Louie tapped into something dormant deep inside him and – with a pop – vanished. He re-appeared a mere five seconds later, but that five seconds was all his family needed to redirect the beast’s attention and save his life. Since then, Louie has continued to delve into his hereto unknown sorcerous powers, learning more and more about them each time he calls upon them.
Webby
This wild-looking duck girl wears a loose-fitting pink blouse and a purple skirt, with a matching pink tie in her headfeathers. She gets into a battle stance, grinning eagerly.
Age: 15 Alignment: Chaotic Good Class/Level: Ninja 4 Ability Scores: STR 14, DEX 17, CON 14, INT 13, WIS 12, CHA 12
Webby is as wild, excitable and knowledgeable as she is in canon, raised in the manor of Lord McDuck and trained by her grandmother to be a silent and deadly assassin of House McDuck. To Lady Beakley’s disappointment, while Webby has proven to have mastered the arts of stealth and disguise, she's really squeamish about killing people for some reason.
Webby takes after her granny as a highly skilled ninja – a class somewhere between the monk and the rogue. A master of stealth, disguise, martial arts and more, Webby may not seem like it, but she’s one of the most accomplished spies Lady Beakley has ever had the privilege of training. Moreover, her training allows her to access a limited well of mystical energy that allows her to perform impossible acts. Her preferred method of attack is to overwhelm her foes with quick, rapid strikes before retreating into the shadows and hiding before they realise what happened.
Aside from being an incredible warrioress, Webby also fancies herself as an amateur historian and lorekeeper – particularly when it comes to the McDuck family history. The arcane and the occult may be guesswork to her, but ask her to name an ancestor of Clan McDuck, and she’ll give you the entire genealogical tree. She knows about every single historical event that happened in Duckland, and she can name all the native monsters in the area, right down to their weaknesses, habitats, diets, and the best method to befriend them (just in case).
Scrooge McDuck
This elderly duck stands with the pride and confidence of an experienced adventurer. His cane, cloak, top hat and bright red plate armour all combine to make an imposing figure out of this old duck.
Age: ??? Alignment: Neutral Good Class/Level: Fighter 6/Rogue 4/Duellist 10 Ability Scores: STR 11, DEX 10, CON 8, INT 15, WIS 15, CHA 16
Ruling from McDuck Manor, Scrooge is the Lord of Duckland, and one of the most powerful and influential figures in Calisota. With a manor full of artifacts, treasures and magical items, he is known throughout the land as the Richest Duck in the World, and you’d be hard-pressed to deny it. This Scrooge is mostly unchanged from the one we all know and love from canon, except this Scrooge has an army of trained soldiers, a cabal of ingenious wizards, and a small cabinet of assassins who have one loyalty and one alone – House McDuck.
You may not have heard of the Duellist class if you’ve only come in from D&D 5th edition. Honestly, you might not have heard of it even if you haven’t. The Duellist is a prestige class, one you can only take levels in if you meet the specific prerequisites, whose abilities allow Scrooge to fight with a flourish. He fights like the heroic swordsmen of old, parrying aside the blades of his foes and deftly moving around them before they can even pinpoint where he is. He fights not with a traditional blade, but with a sword concealed within his cane – a gift, from the late Ludwig Von Drake.
Other D&D aficionados may also notice that Scrooge’s physical abilities are a bit low – that, unfortunately, is due to his venerable age. In Pathfinder, your physical abilities reduce with age, while your mental abilities improve. In his prime, Scrooge’s ability scores were STR 17, DEX 16, CON 14, INT 12, WIS 12 and CHA 13, but the days of his prime are long behind him. For this reason, before going into battle, he typically equips himself with a Belt of Physical Perfection, restoring his physical prowess to what it was as a young lad. I know canon Scrooge doesn’t like to use magic (and he still doesn’t here), but that’s… really not an option in a fantasy RPG like this.
Donald Duck
With an incoherent squawking sound, this sailor rushes into the fray, swinging his fists wildly and leaping onto his foes.
Age: 42 Alignment: Neutral Good Class/Level: Barbarian 12 Ability Scores: STR 15, DEX 11, CON 13, INT 10, WIS 15, CHA 13
This good-natured, short-tempered, and risk-averse fisherman may not seem like much at first glance, but he was, in fact, once an adventurer. And as far as the rest of his family are concerned, he still is. Once a sailor for the House McDuck navy, Donald retired from his adventuring life after his twin sister, Della, was lost to the Astral Plane in an impromptu expedition gone wrong. Though he was pulled back into the adventuring life by his triplet nephews, he has never lost his cautious edge, and he remains as the most responsible member of the McDuck family.
Donald fights as he does in canon – by flying into a rage and launching himself at his opponent. He punches, kicks, bites, trips, and attacks every part he can get a hold of. In the old days, he used to use an enchanted sword, though it has been so long since he picked up the blade that much of its magic has disappeared. Nowadays, he relies on a pair of enchanted cestuses, which are essentially medieval boxing gloves with metal plates and rivets.
Mrs. Beakley
This enormous, bulky woman looms over you, her cold gaze peering into your soul. Despite her housekeeper attire, she stands tall and rigid like a soldier, and the sheathed sword on her belt does not escape your attention.
Age: Late 70s/early 80s Alignment: Lawful Neutral Class/Level: Ninja 16 Ability Scores: STR 14, DEX 8, CON 8, INT 15, WIS 17, CHA 11
Mrs. Bentina Beakley, unmarried, is the silent right hand of Lord McDuck. On the surface, she is merely the housekeeper of the manor. Beneath that, however, Beakley becomes a terrifyingly effective spymaster who has her eyes everywhere throughout the realm. Though her days as an assassin are over, she remains a cold, clever, yet surprisingly empathetic figure – so much so that she was willing to give up her career to raise a young Webby Vanderquack.
Like Scrooge, Bentina has suffered from reductions to her physical abilities from her old age, in exchange for bonuses to her mental ability scores. Her abilities in her prime were STR 20, DEX 14, CON 14, INT 12, WIS 14, CHA 8. Unlike Scrooge, she does not have any magic that can improve her abilities, but she also doesn’t see the need to. She fancies herself more of a ‘behind-the-scenes’ person these days, managing an intricate network of spies and blades for hire, gathering blackmail and intelligence for use against the enemies of House McDuck.
Launchpad
The friendly airship pilot waves at you from the cockpit, oblivious to the fact that he’s flying you directly into a mountain.
Age: 31 Alignment: Lawful Good Class/Level: Commoner 5 Ability Scores: STR 12, DEX 11, CON 17, INT 8, WIS 11, CHA 13
Launchpad remains the happy-go-lucky guy he is in canon, save that he now pilots an airship instead of an airplane. And rest assured, he is just as unqualified to fly it as ever.

Running through the GZ tapes and man, it’s very…abundantly clear to me now that Huey’s decision, while seemingly arrogant, was the only reasonable thought for someone with as much information as he had.
Miller and Big Boss absolutely did not make him aware of the fact the the inspection even could be a fluke despite giving him enough authority both to command people on the base and send out official business decisions like that.
Huey’s decision came from a place of wanting to show beyond a reasonable doubt to the world that they did not in fact have a nuke. Deny the inspection full stop is just going to cause the entire world/UN to unite against MSF because coming out of the COLD WAR or all things and just having had the Peacewalker incident happen, they would not see a PMC refusing a nuke inspection fondly and it would not go unnoticed.
The only difference is that Big Boss would most likely have been put on trial and the base would have been inspected regardless.
The flaw in Huey choosing to allow the inspection comes from a lack of communication between him Kaz, and Snake.
By the time they bring up the relevant suspicions, such as them not even being registered officially with the board therefore not even falling under jurisdiction to be investigated, it’s already too fucking late.
Combine this lack of communication with the fact that Paz and Chico get captured and you end up in a situation where regardless of the decision that Huey or MSF in general made, they were going to be targeted and in the case that the UN gets involved, you could say goodbye to DD and the wandering MSF soldiers because they’d all be hunted down and treated like international terrorists.
It’s just all so unfortunate, the last few days of MSF were just a mess of hastily made decisions. As well as the fact that Zeke was never even meant to have a warhead to begin with. Huey is correct in that keeping the nuke is ultimately what fucked MSF over the most but hearing that from the guy you suspect isn’t the best even if it is ultimately a just assessment. That doesn’t absolve Huey of his ignorance and his haste to make a decision without talking to at least Snake.
But genuinely, if you think Huey, who is somehow the 3rd in command at MSF despite being a civilian, who can apparently give orders to soldiers and actually have them be followed as well as just…in general the fact that he would not have the means possible to sabotage the struts of the base (assuming the platforms were constructed in a similar way to how they are in PP) without arousing a ton of suspicion would just up and betray MSF I don’t know what to say.
There was literally nothing Cipher even could offer him that he didnt already have in spades at MSF. Most of all being the respect he managed to command even if it was just through being another beacon of the boss’s word at times. It’s honestly absurd to look at the circumstances the attack happened under and blame everything on just him.
I feel like too many people take Kaz at his word when he himself is not squeaky clean and the way he acts in PP in general is just generally rancid and not at all evocative of what Big Boss would have wanted. PP Kaz as a whole leans far more into his idea of DD as a business rather than Big Boss’ ideas of MSF as a sort of heaven for soldiers. Partly because Venom literally cannot keep him in line and it is only by a spider’s thread that Ocelot can override Kaz’s irrational decisions most the time.
I love PP Kaz but bro is absolutely out of his mind half the time. Coming into this and seeing him act like that after PW, it doesnt feel like he’s trying to rebuild home at all.

Ya'll time for more rejuvenation headcannons
Melia loves grilled cheese. Like, really, really likes it
Saki likes really really crunchy breadsticks to the point they could be classified as bricks
On the contrary, Adam hates loud crunching noises
Erin likes reading with Kanon about fantasy stories and biographies
The interceptor talks about their many harrowing tales very unenthusiastically ("So guys did you know I fell into a volcano." "You fell into a WHAT.")
On Terajuma, Valarie taught Adam how to swim when they got to Teila Resort
Amber loves teasing the interceptor about everything because she wanted to see what it feels like to have a sibling (she loves it)
Reina likes trash tv and sometimes watches it with Huey and Lavender (who don't love it as much)
Ren was banned from playing instruments due to a very bad experience with a saxophone with Melia and Venam
Everyone in the gang can sing except Reina and Huey (according to Ren and Erin, they sound like "Dying Loudreds with a throat problem")
Aelita likes humming to her Pokemon and the interceptor describes her singing like "a warm blanket" (if it wasn't obvious enough, Aelita x Interceptor to me is top tier)
Everyone in the gang likes to ask Kanon what his hobbies are (they like seeing him develop into his own person) and he usually says "Reading with Erin and talking to Erin!" So everyone likes teasing her as well (I know Erin was confirmed to be Asexual, but never Aroace, so Erin x Kanon for me hehehe)
End of headcannons for now, I hope you enjoy my dumb brainworms

Not enough people discuss the cast of DuckTales 2017, and so I think I should. Almost every single casting choice is perfect, and I am going to gush about them a little bit.
DANNY PUDI!!!- I freaking love him. I started watching this show because Danny Pudi was in it. Him as Huey is so perfect because Pudi does decent in to madness so well. Also Autism. My Community era bled perfectly in to this.
Ben Schwartz and Bobby Moynihan- Less to say about these too, but they absolutely slay as well. They were also perfect casting choices, because Schwartz does Dewey’s hyper-chaos so well, and Moynihan can do Louie’s smugness perfectly.
Kate Micucci- Absolutely. That is exactly how Webby is meant to sound. High pitched and over excited. Webby isn’t my favorite character but she may be the voice that I could never see replaced.
David Tennant- I was literally shocked to find out that he was Scrooge. He does the accent so well, for a very overdone Scottish accent. This was such a funny role for him to take, because it’s not at all like what he usually does (serious live action stuff) but he still put his whole Tennussy in to it.
Jim Rash- He has a very distinct voice, so even though I didn’t know he was in the show I immediately knew who he was. Usually this would take me out of it a little, but Rash was a really good choice for this character so I didn’t even mind. He does “mildly insane guy” very well, and that’s exactly what Gearloose is.
John Gemberling- A weird one that you may not recognize, but he plays Doofus Drake. And he is really good at being Doofus Drake. Another one that I probably couldn’t imagine with a different voice.
Beck Bennet- He always sounds like an idiot, and usually plays one in SNL. So he was a good choice for playing an idiot. Perfect for Launchpad.
Lin-Manuel Miranda- Similar to Bennet, his voice just sounds like he’s meant to play that character. I don’t know, and maybe it’s from Hamilton, but Miranda’s voice just sounds really pathetic. Pathetic in a wet cat sort of way. He’s perfect to play a guy who has really know idea what he’s doing being a superhero, and also just a nerd ass science guy.
Finally: Tony Anselmo- He is Donald Duck in literally everything, so this is less about good casting and more about appreciation. Anselmo nails it. Absolutely perfect. I don’t know what he sounds like when he’s not doing the Donald Duck voice, but I have to assume he really works hard on voice acting. He slays, and I only wish that they hadn’t covered up his voice in certain episodes, because I genuinely enjoy listening to it for some reason. It grew on me. He can also do different emotions very well, from fury to love and appreciation. Which is most impressive because he sounds like he’s speaking through a kazoo. 10/10 would Tony Anselmo again.

Not my usual stuff buuuut
Mid terms are melting my brain. Therefore I crave random shows. To be particular, Ducktales. (The reboot anyways). And so I have a few headcanons that are exploding my cookie brain that I need to scream out:
Donald used to be looked after by Scrooge frequently when he was small. As a result he learnt to speak in a thick scottish accent. He sounded as scottish as Scrooge himself, and the reason he doesn't have it anymore is because he used to get bullied at school over it, like a LOT, so he taught himself to use an American one. HOWEVER Donald sometimes takes on a Scottish lilt when speaking to Scrooge and Scrooge loves hearing it.
Scrooge is the only person who can fully understand Donald's speech, even when Della can't. (Because Donald is his favourite)
Scrooge was actually the one who mostly raised Donald. This is because Donald was deemed 'difficult' by his parents due to his temper tantrums (that were due to no one understanding what he wanted) and so was frequently sent to Scrooge's when small, while Della stayed at home.
This is why the younger Donald was always to rude to Scrooge- he was used to him and Scrooge was used to Donald. It was their thing.
Also Scrooge has Gaelic nicknames for the twins. He calls them those nicknames instead of outright saying 'I love you'. Donald's way of subtlety telling Scrooge he loves him is to use 'Unkie' instead of 'Unca'. No one but Scrooge can hear the difference. Della just says it to Scrooge. She and Donald express love by calling each other 'Mudface' and 'Jellybuttcheeks' (not even Scrooge knows where this last one came from).
When growing up, Huey had a lot more sympathy for Donald than his brothers, and was capable of almost understanding how much Donald struggled, and always tried to help wherever he could. Donald would sometimes come home from a long day to find the houseboat clean, the dishes done, and even a very very very basic sandwich waiting for him, while the three ducklings were asleep. Huey never told him that it was him, but Donald always knew and thanked him for it.
Dewey had the least, simply because he just wanted to explore and he didn't want to be cooped up inside doing homework. He didn't really understand why Donald was the way he was, or why Huey would get all 'goody goody' and 'moody'.
Donald always always always tried to ensure the boys got a good education, because he couldn't bear the thought of them being broke and in his position. When they moved to the mansion, Scrooge enforced this too, and had the boys studying when not adventuring.
Donald also went back to school, taking a degree online.
Scrooge will physically tackle Donald if he dares to degrade himself. Della will also give him a slap and remind him he's talking about her brother.
Sometimes the triplets remind Scrooge of younger Donald, and that breaks his heart as he thinks about what that young Donald had to go through, and he misses the young Donald who did love him unconditionally. The thought of the triplets and Donald having a broken relationship genuinely worries Scrooge.
Webby being Scrooge's daughter technically makes her Donald and Della's cousin. And kind of the boys' aunt. She worked it out and loved to tease them like this. Scrooge just finds it funny, and even spoils her.
She and Donald genuinely had a quarrel over who was Scrooge's favourite.
Ok that's enough i need to stop

A Random Skeleton Rates the Paper Mario Games
Paper Mario: 7/10
Paper Mario is charming and cute, but decidely primitive and unrefined compared to its immediate successor. I find the controls to be finicky and unreliable, but I admit my experience is only with rereleases and emulators, so perhaps on the original N64 it worked better.
Story-wise, it's the standard Mario story where Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach. It's not special but this particular execution is bolstered by the world it's set in. All the characters we meet are entertaining, the places we go start out simple but steadily get more interesting as we go, and Princess Peach: Super Spy is a delight.
It's a good game, but it's held back by ancient graphics and, in my experience, strange controls. If and when we get a remake that upgrades it to the same level of quality as TTYD, it might move up to a great game.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door: 10/10
Yes yes, it's obvious and my bias is showing. I grew up with this one, it was a Christmas present, and it's nostalgic.
But in this case the popular opinion is just true. The game plays like a dream, the partners are amazing characters, and the story is a step or three above Mario's usual fare.
Admiral Bobbery's story is simple enough for a child to understand but sincere enough for even adults to tear up, and I wish Goombella was my best friend in real life. I use to name the Yoshi Kid Gonzap because I was also playing Pokémon Colisseum at the time and I thought it matched Mario's stage name of Gonzales.
Princess Peach: Super Spy makes a return and her story with a lonely supercomputer is fascinating, and all the more so for how little we see of it. My only complaint is it needed more Bowser.
TTYD is a truly great game, and the fact it's getting a remake makes me excited to play it all over again.
Super Paper Mario: 9/10
SPM is without a doubt the greatest story in the entire Mario franchise. The only thing holding it back is the complete and total alteration to gameplay. The only real thing relating it to the previous two games is the artstyle.
But man. It's just such a good story guys. Luigi gets brainwashed, an entire world gets turned into an empty white void, Mario suffocates in space, an incomprehensible Scotsman is best friends with a little girl who turns into a spider and a clown comes within a hair's breadth of destroying all of reality on a lark.
There are no partners, no badges, no real RPG elements left... it could have easily been the most polarizing game in the series, and for a time it was. But its failings are all made up for and then some by the greatest love story in Nintendo history.
Paper Mario Sticker Star: 5/10
Some of you will think I'm being too kind (he said, knowing less than ten people will ever read this). But Sticker Star is a perfectly fine game.
I was never bothered by the backtracking. I was annoyed by the battle system but never to the point of frustration. Some of the puzzles were obtuse but I freely admit that I'm not afraid of looking up a guide when I can't solve something myself. It's fine.
But it's only fine. It's not great, and I hesitate to call it good. It can drag on and on. But I had fun with it, after I got over the fact that it wasn't TTYD2.
Because that's the real problem here. In a vacuum, it's a perfectly fine game. But compared to the other games in the series, it's just... not Paper Mario. There's Mario, and he's made of paper, but there's more to it than that that the game doesn't seem to grasp. It's sad really.
It's fine. It's okay. But it'll never be more than that.
Paper Mario Color Splash: 6/10
It's pretty good. It has a lot of the same problems as Sticker Star, but... less so. Huey is more tolerable than Kersti, the paint mechanic is more interesting than just laying stickers everywhere, the levels are all more well-developed than any of the previous game's, and it's actually very funny.
It is once again Bowser kidnapping Peach, but at least this time it's because he was possessed by evil paint. Luigi saves the day in this game, so that earns it a whole extra point right there.
And the music is phenomenal. It always is, even Sticker Star has A+ music, but Color Splash is especially good. This game has good vibes.
In the end though, while I can call it good, it's still bogged down by the battle system and the lackluster story. The characters are okay, such as they are.
Paper Mario: The Origami King: 8/10
Yeah I put it higher than the first game, what of it?
Origami King gets it. It wants to be a good Paper Mario game so badly, and it very nearly accomplishes it. Olivia is a delight, Bobby is a startlingly effective character, and the villain isn't even Bowser.
It's back to being a connected world instead of being level-based. It has an extremely simplified badge system. The story, while not on the level of TTYD or SPM, is still fairly gripping (though it takes about two-thirds of the way through before you get the big twist of what Olly's deal is), and I would actually argue that Mario the character is more expressive here than the entire rest of the series. He emotes! He feels sad! He tries to stop his friend from committing suicide and FAILS! I swear to God that's a thing that actually happens in this game.
Origami King has issues. All of the bosses are oversized office equipment, and there's just no coming back from that, but even still, it's a fun ride.
This concludes this essay. I hope the five people who will ever read this enjoyed, and please feel free to give your own thoughts in the comments.
