Matthew was one of those kids who just really wanted to be held. Or, rather he just wants to be a part of whats going on. Frankly, that worked out pretty well for him, as he could usually just sit with his father, or cling to an aunt or uncle. Spent half the time he was supposed to be in bed as a little kid trying to get into his parents room, because how is anyone supposed to sleep in a room all alone??? What if he missed something fun and important in the morning??? If hes a whole ten feet away, then who knows what adventures he might miss out on in the thirty seconds it takes him to cross the hallway? Travesty!

He's just so pleasantly cynical. He definitely feels like someone you might meet IRL. His sibling role mixing with the “stand in father figure” is very interesting, and its very apparent throughout the books how much he genuinely, dearly, loves his family. His almost deadpan demeanor is straight up hilarious, and the thinly veiled romantic interest in Thomas, that very quickly turns into “lets have sex in this carriage” is a highlight of TLH.

The poor mundane police who can't really tell what's going on, but something feels super weird? On fire. Thomas decides he will do any future cooking.

Alastair was in the wrong in Nothing But Shadows, and Matthew wasn't in the wrong for not wanting to like him. I see a lot of people on tumblr talk about how it's ridiculous that Matthew is mad at Alastair years later, because it's like “being mad at someone for a jab in highschool”. But the thing is it really isn't. This was Edwardian england. Theres few things more offensive than directly insulting your close family. On top of that, the shadhowhunter gossip chain (which, at that moment, involved Alastair.) was spitting directly on everything both Henry and Charlotte had ever done, and boy all boy did they do a lot. I genuinely have trouble thinking of anything Alastair could say that is worse than this.

 Obviously,  I love Alastair as much as everyone else. His behavior during his time at the shadowhunter academy is nothing more than a traumatized adolescent trying to make sense of the world. 

However, that doesn't mean he wasn't super out of line. Personally if I was Matthew, Alastair would have to grovel for my forgiveness, and even then I wouldn't be interested in forging a very close relationship.

chisme incoming and i know it's insane but it is so weird that the gossip page that exposed rebecca's name in monaco and was the FIRST who posted about the latest video of them together is followed by carlos' parents. and this person's caption makes it seem like they were the one that took the video, but 1) the person running the page is portuguese and i doubt they are in spain/milan wherever that video was taken 2) even if so there are zero chances they were the one who caught them 3) the angle of the video is so weird, why is it that stable and how did they know it was going to be them 4) the vid was posted in the middle of the night in europe, if you took such a video you wouldn't wait to post it - this leaves the explanation that they were sent that video from /someone/ and were told to post it. and we know how much the sainz family likes to be involved with all the paps stunts for hola, but maybe they realized people don't fall for it anymore. whatever is happening is so fucking weird.

i have lots of conflicting thoughts on this bc i do think the family thrives (incl. carlos) from their popularity so there is a degree in to which it is good for them to be talked about but id also argue that it doesnt look good on carlos at all, so idk really.

thank u my sweet leighanne, it did go well!!!! all thanks to ur good wishes :') and i will always have the chance to talk about my au, we all know this.....at first, sheila is mostly just really curious about jesse!! she knows everything about Everyone in town, so having a new person to study is super exciting. he listens when she jabbers on and seems really invested in learning carpentry and improving his skills, which endears her to him massively. sheila is friendly but she acknowledges that she's nosy and Loud and a big brash butch lesbian, so it's nice to have someone else at the store now who listens to her stories and cares about what they're doing. jesse is a little intimidated by her at first and doesn't say much around her initially because he's afraid he'll let something slip that she'll gossip about to others, but sheila never tries to be hurtful or mean in her gossip and has a wonderful, warm sense of humor that he really takes to. she's also super encouraging and helps him hone his latent woodworking skills with the kind of patience that he needs. since they spend so much time together, just the two of them in the store, they end up sharing a lot. sheila loves to get herself involved in jesse's life and is the one who pushed him to go on his first "date" with demi, who insisted that he come over to try her wife's chowder, who showed him how to de-ice a windshield and braid little girl hair and set up direct deposit. sheila isn't just jesse's first point of contact in haines, she's this older adult figure that he desperately needs who is more than happy to guide him towards a stable life. as long as he lets her buy baby christmas presents and tolerates her opinions on what kind of haircut he should get

as for clover!! she is a big mutt from the kennel (demi starts to shyly tell the stranger adopting her that she was a puppy mill rescue but when she sees his scarred face, she holds back on details and just says that clover had a tough start) who is very clumsy and not particularly brave (one clap of thunder and she's basically climbing up into jesse's arms), but she's super loyal and sweet and happy to never leave jesse's side. having her to play with and walk really helps him get out of the house during his early time in alaska, and its much easier to smile and feel human when theres a big dog tromping towards u with a stick in their mouth. he hasn't had a dog since he was a young kid and forgot how wonderful it is to just. have another living creature around. for a lot of his early time, he's not quite ready to talk to other people or be around them for extended periods of time even though he feels really lonely, so clover is the perfect companion. he doesn't have to lie to her or pretend or hide or fit into a new identity that still itches: he can just enjoy being not alone. and it really helps having her sleep in bed with him. nothing brings u back to the present after an especially vicious nightmare faster than a loving, slobbery dog kiss

I honestly think Cruise will be the next celeb we lose to cancel culture, because of all the unproven random ass gossip that goes around him. As well as his link to Scientology. It will be sad as his friends and colleagues describe him as a sweet and generous person. He has done a lot of good things in his life for charity, saving people's lives etc.. as well.

Most of these rumours are just way out of context or have been shown not to be true, but this would be boring for the media to comment on. Unfortunately this is the world we live in.

I don’t think tom can be cancelled. Theres been too many opportunities and too many things to actually cancel him for and it just hasn’t worked or hasn’t stuck. Obviously a lot of it happened before cancel culture was a thing but cancel culture is all about digging up dirt on people and bringing it up again.

I think if he was gonna be cancelled it would’ve happened already, probably when tgm came out since everyone was praising him and people did try (i think?) but it just wasn’t enough. He doesn’t have a lot in common with most other people who have been cancelled. Usually people don’t have a lot of nice things to say even if its something that happened a long time ago, most of those people don’t change, yes they may change for the public eye but personally not really. Tom on the other hand did change and people who’ve met him can’t stop saying nice things about him. I think the internets learned that headlines aren’t usually true and they go off of what people who know them say (or thats what id like to believe anyway 😐). Usually when someone has something bad to say about tom its just about scientology, thats all we’ve got on him and i don’t even think thats a good argument anymore since he’s not really involved or doesn’t seem to be involved with the church at all anymore. I don’t think he’ll ever be able to leave if he hasn’t already, i don’t think someone like tom can just leave the church without a lot of shit going down but hes definitely distanced himself as much as he can, at least from the publics point of view but he’s also always on a movie set so i don’t think he even has time, not to say he isn’t still giving them money he probably is but he also probably has to if he’s a part of the church still so??

hmmmm. while michael and christine are solid contenders because theyre like my faves after jeremy. i have to say jenna. this is a little bit because i love tiffany mann but its also a lot bit because i love jenna and i think we need more of her always.

i really value your tags here! i think they highlight that ultimately sexuality is a very personal, nuanced thing, and having a bunch of people openly speculating and projecting what they think versus how the individual feels can be very problematic. people are going to gossip and speculate, that’s just human nature, but some do take it too far and speak with certainty when they can’t possibly know.

i’ve seen an increase regarding that with jensen, for example, when you’d think the fandom would know better.

it’s especially frustrating when they feel the need to cling to certain narratives to the point where they paint a picture of poor queer jensen that homophobic misha makes fun of. instead of accepting that the people involved in the situation are the actual ones allowed to make as many jokes or innuendos as they wish, regardless of the perception of others.

we’ve no actual idea what their private lives are like. but jensen hasn’t said anything publicly that indicates he’s labeled himself as queer. if anything he has publicly othered himself from the community (literally said “that community”) and been described as het by his close friends.

@freebill​ doesn’t want it to be public knowledge that @skrsgardspam​ is her blog, mostly because she must know that her behavior is representative of someone who is mentally unwell! but if she’s so confident in her beliefs, why don’t we all come together to shed some light on them?

scrolling through her blogs were a lot of fun. lets dive into the skrsgardspam side of her persona first! 

looking through her blog guidelines, i thought it was funny that she refuses to write rpf (real person fiction). there are many writers who refuse to partake in rpf, so this isn’t strange. but why is rpf so heavily disliked by certain tumblr writers?

for starters, rpf is written about real people, except it treats them like they are not. it treats them like fake characters and objects. it allows obsessive fans to maintain a strange form of ownership over the celebrity and their identity. this can create a myriad of problems for the celebrity involved. for this reason, it’s fairly controversial. 

we can assume freebill / skrsgardspam had similar reasons when deciding not to engage in rpf... which brings us to hyprocrisy #1! 

freebill / skrsgardspam actually has no problem engaging in harmful speculations on real people, as long as they’re done by her alter ego! just one scroll through her blog shows evidence of not only misogyny, the negative impacts of a parasocial relationship, deep and violent obsessions, but also, many of her posts (which are written about real people) are so far fetched that they can be seen as their own forms of real person fiction! lets dive further. 

here freebill / skrsgardspam writes a short story about the power of heart eye emojis, and what they could possibly mean. now, as a sane person, you may assume theres nothing really to analyze here.. i mean, its just three heart eye emojis! but freebill / skrsgardspam, the talented novelist that she is, takes us on a ride with endless twists and turns. because the world revolves around freebill / skrsgardspam, shes unfortunately convinced that bill, apparently backed with a powerful army of PR agents, has commented three heart eye emojis as an act of manipulation! bill can’t sleep at night unless freebill / skrsgardspam believes in the authenticity of his personal relationship. but wait.. what if it’s not bill at all???? what if.. WHAT IF SOMEONE ELSE HAS ACCESS TO HIS ACCOUNT AND HAS USED IT TO... *sweats* C-COMMENT THREE HEART EYE EMOJIS.... THE HORROR!!!!

innocent bill fans, don’t be fooled into reading fanfics and other content written by a person who is clearly on a downward spiral. don’t be fooled into thinking you’re engaging with an innocent fan when really, freebill / skrsgardspam is a misogynist, a teller of tall tales, and more than anything, not a real fan of bill. kirishima: forever and always a supportive bestie and thus leader of the todobaku fanclub. i mean just read my fic yknow. 1000% called it on bakugous side first (and/or bakugou told him) and has been enthusiastically supportive ever since. hes a big ol romantic really and also unironically thinks todobaku is the manliest of pairings (and totally made for each other, bro!!) so hes beyond stoked when they do get together. hes one of their most comfy third wheels bc he and bakugou r very close and he and todoroki r also good friends so no one is like on uncomfortable/uneven footing and hes unfazed by the ups and downs of their relationship bc hes used to both of their antics. the secret-keeper.

i don’t have enough separate intel on the rest of the bakusquad but they’re 1) completely thrown by the revelation that after years of wheedling and trying to set bakugou up into surprise dates he is not in fact ‘work-sexual’, and to top this off is actually into todoroki of all people 2) obnoxiously supportive, as you would expect. secretly they’re all kind of defensive of bakugou’s fragile heart (citation needed) and so nervous about how the whole thing is gonna work out but when it becomes apparent todoroki does not have better sense they relax and just become excessively nosy. like to complain that bakugou and todoroki weren’t content dominating their year academically and professionally they also had to steal out 2 of the country’s most eligible bachelors, the selfish bastards.

camie: second leader of the todobaku fanclub, idc. clocks it ahead of literally anyone else in their friend group bc she just, like, got that vibe, you know? theres a multitude of equally blunt and inappropriate ways in which she addresses this vibe (calling them out in person when theyre years away from it, trying to not especially artfully orchestrate a get-together, etc) and they are all very unsuccessful. shes ‘lowkey mad bakugou stole her potential man’ but ‘finders keepers’ so once they’re past that she’s all for it since she correctly thinks they r freaks best suited to e/o and also honestly probably thinks bl is cute or something. todoroki and bakugou both endure her encouragement very long-sufferingly. big double dater energy.

yaoyorozu: not at all in the first to clock gang, bc honestly the idea she has of todoroki is still a lil idealized/inaccurate and certainly does not involve dating bakugou; the initial reveal is inevitably delivered very casually to her as she scrambles for a polite reaction. she’s kind of wary of the whole thing at face value but close scrutiny leads her to conclude they’re actually not-terrible together. upon reaching this conclusion she begins making earnest overtures towards a very confused bakugou bc she figures she may as well make the effort to get to know him better. i always hc her as having had a crush of some variety on todoroki at some point so theres probs a bit of wistfulness involved and also a far larger ‘nvm dodged that bullet’ energy bc todobaku r romantically a mess and a half. to her despair she is extremely weak to camie’s todobaku gossip.

uraraka: to everyone’s vague bewilderment, a secret todobaku stan from the get-go. you could say this is bc it leaves deku solidly open but honestly she just has similarly odd friendships with todoroki and bakugou and it’s like a persistent guilty thought of hers that they’re kind of well-suited somehow. she often tells todoroki he can do better just to wind bakugou up but would be the first to take bakugou’s side if he actually did. she really enjoys them together bc she finds somehow they’re easier to tease- it humanizes them both further to be weak to dumb emotions. she plays counsellor sometimes but like subtly bc she knows better than to give outright advice.

iida: completely blindsided by the information, also spends several months in the grips of insomnia convinced that both their friend group and japan are doomed given the inevitable dramatic breakup. then he spends a singular day hanging around them at work or something and realises that his imagined version of them as a couple was in fact completely off-base bc they’re just overly intense workaholics who are too single-focused to ever bother splitting up. also top 1 most likely friend to launch into a completely sincere defense of them and their relationship in response to like the laziest off-color paparazzi bait comment.

midoriya: where to begin honestly. he def gets weird vibes from them throughout the whole usual melodrama but 200% does not come to the right conclusions. when he finally gets the news broken to him (never gently) his brain breaks a little. it’s mainly the bakugou element bc kacchan is.. kacchan and like.. not necessarily fundamentally someone midoriya has ever imagined harboring human interest in another living person. also todoroki in a parallel way has always struck him as resoundingly disinterested in relationships mainly bc hes kind of above them. of course once he sets to theorising he can connect some dots to bakugous various jealousies over the years and also todorokis pretty open staring and wow he is not very good at connecting dots actually. anyways once he recovers from the shock i think theres a variety of ways in which he takes it bc honestly it is very weird that his best friend and his .. closest friend (?) who have always primarily interacted through or due to him now have this competing private relationship. regardless obv he is intensely supportive in like, the typical kind of overbearing midoriya way. i sometimes make it so its just one of those things that everyones cool with but also the details will always be something midoriya and bakugou do not want midoriya to know bc Awkward, vs other times i make him super cool w it to the extent that hes just overenthusiastic and todorokis all oh. sure. thanks :) while bakugou loses his shit. he does genuinely think they’re a really good fit upon reflexion, and since he’s best suited to knowing why he’s p much always correct in his assessments. its one of those things where each duo in the trio has the capacity of playing up the subject matter to the third party’s detriment, tho when todoroki is the third party he’s less embarrassed by bakudeku’s todobaku discourse and more enduring their various bizarre friendship rituals + the serious physical damage they usually precede.

also aizawa clocks them first and is like oh god please no this is going to take at least 5 years to implode and will age me 10 years in the process
