Yes there is. Everyone living in the town have to register themselves and they are categorized into the different groups living in the town.

Are there schools teaching magic with teachers, who actually are capable in their profession? And if so, do they battle malicious forces? Or is that all up to Cort? :o

There are two schools and  a kindergartens for magically inclined and otherworldly beings in general. Most creatures have their offspring homeschooled but not everyone can afford this. The staff does not battle malicious forces, because situations of apocalyptic dimensions rarely take place. They are trained to protect their students though and some of them are even very powerful beings.

Is there a village of pixies in HotV ? And if so, will it be "accidently" engulfed in flames by our heroes?

Pixies exist in the universe of HotV. They are a smaller form of fairies. They tend to live within clusters of certain plants or human gardens so no villages to burn down. It would probably be considered a highly criminal offense to burn them down.

How exactly does the connection to the "other world" work? Do "normal" people stumble into it by accident? D:

The other world and the world people know are co-existing. However, in Port Arbores in particular, the other side is veiled, so regular humans can’t enter it or even see it. Incidents of someone just entering by accidents are very rare.
