I agree!! This season has so many open ends and there’s no way they will close them all up next episode.

I saw someone say they chose plot over characterization and that seems to be true

it could very well be a strategic, long haul move to incorporate some of these characters- like renslayer or brad- into future marvel content.

the problem is i’m not really interested in future marvel content! there are a few characters i keep up with but i’m not interested in noticing every tiny detail about every film like i used to be, which i mostly chalk up to just being really really busy these days. but it is overwhelming to think, aw man do i have to have seen the 5 most recent series, 7 newest films, etc to know what’s going on in this new installment I want to watch?

and let’s be honest- some characters within the vast cinematic universe are just going to appeal to certain people more than others. having to play mental chess to figure out where each of the hundreds of characters are to figure out what the one dude you love is doing is a Lot.

i also prefer a storyline contained within one show/movie because the next person who gets to write the script could take all of your blorbo’s character development and turn it into a punchline.

but there is also the possibility that these characters won’t be built upon in future installments because every other show/movie has equally interesting side characters and developing them all would be impossible. you get a spin-off show for your specific fave? they will incorporate more side characters for you to get curious about. etc etc. u see what I’m saying? we’d need infinite time!

not really loving this season so far. i’m not as articulate as some people, and i feel like everything i say won’t come out the way i want it to, but i’m just disappointed. i’ll try my best to share my thoughts under the cut:

there are good bits here and there but overall it just doesn’t feel like the show/space western i fell in love with. it feels…sloppy. i feel like the way that everyone is so divided on every single episode is telling as well.

i’m disappointed in favreau for letting this season get botched in the name of stretching the show for as long as he can because i think it’s left a lot to be desired this season. couple that with the fact that we might have to wait another few years for another season…it sucks.

season 2’s side quests had a purpose, it had a flow, there was a goal established, and then a subsequent twist that sets up potential conflict between din and bo. the book of boba fett and trailers for s3 established din’s desire to be redeemed. i just think it’s weird how fast bo (a motivated and determined former TERRORIST that helped overthrow her own sister) switched from being upset about losing the saber to tagging along w din instead of challenging him. the brief exposition on why she was depressed (night owls leaving with the ship and abandoning her quest to retake mandalore) also left me upset. she is a complex character and deserved better than that. I'm hoping that her mentioning how the imperials are after her ties in with that dr. pershing episode and the beskar on the destroyed transport ship.

i can’t articulate exactly how i feel about this--about favreau & co. derailing din's development and sidelining him in almost every single episode in favor of a bo katan redemption arc--but i hope y’all get the idea. i just…i don’t like that they’re framing her as someone who isn’t power hungry. casual fans watching the mandalorian might not have watched the clone wars and/or rebels; there’s no backstory on bo OR any other character cameos (ahsoka too, as much as i love her!).

overall, this season just feels sloppy and lost. they all deserved better than this mess. maybe the last two episodes will be incredible—i’d love for my opinion to be changed. let me know what y’all think—i’m honestly so torn on this season but the disappointment i feel has just been festering since episode 3.

I mentioned this before but I do not like how people tend to reduce Darius to Hunter’s potential father-figure and it also really doesn’t sit right w me.

#like okay yeah Hunter is a cool character and their interactions in ASiaS are the first time we see another side of Darius or whatever #but he has so many other interesting things going on too! #what happened between him and Alador n Odalia. what was his dynamic with the prev GG like. when and how did he meet Eberwolf. #he was friends with Raine in Hexside?? and probably knew Eda??? #I would sell my blood to get a whole episode about his past. Them's the Breaks Kid Darius version. #Unfortunately we live in the timeline where s3 was cut #also like even if you want angst he has that too #once I finish this gd lyric comic it's over because a simple character analysis doesn't cut it #I need to be as mentally ill about my faves as possible #I kinda derailed in the tags but the point stands. #Please more Darius appreciation and content outside of his dynamic with the fandom favourite white boy. #owl house
