I saw that your post about how it looks like ABC just confirmed the cruise ship disaster. How do you think this will play into your theory of Buck drowning and having his breakdown that way???

First of all, I'm just slightly coherent, so bear with me lol. Just for context, I have a whole tag for the possibility of Buck drowning, all thoughts can be found here. Also, everything about this is gonna be based on the vision I wrote here, so if anyone is just stumbling into this and wants to know why I'm so sure they'll drown Buck go read that.

Up until the props department posted that picture of the life vests, I was thinking about Buck drowning in buddie terms, something that would be a climax for Buck, that could be used for Eddie in the same way the shooting can be used for Buck. But, with the life vests and the now confirmed cruise disaster, I started to think about what that could mean as a trigger. You don't need a lot to trigger Buck and you put something like this in the ocean????? With everything that went wrong for Buck around water?? It's so easy to start the timer in the timebomb we know Buck is and deal with everything surrounding the lightning strike and his death.

So, my most recent vision of it involved Buck saving a random person, (I did discuss the possibility of it being Bobby but didn't elaborate) I have been saying that they will use Bobby or Maddie to trigger Buck since I first posted about my theory about drowning Buck, mostly because his own death was not enough to trigger him but Maddie or Bobby being in serious danger would, but at first I wasn't convinced they wouldn't just use a surrogate for one of them and then have Buck find out Bobby was in danger too after. BUT I was talking to @bucksbackwardcap the other day and she brought up the possible parallels with worst day ever, with the plane crash and Bobby asking for help, and my brain has been in overdrive since.

Because let's say my general vision is correct and Buck will do something that will get him trapped to save someone and that will lead to him drowning, he would not handle almost dying again well. And taking my vision of Buck and Eddie are paired doing water rescues, they spot someone, they get them out, Buck doesn't resurface, Eddie needs to dive back in to get him, and the fun implication of Eddie having to save Buck again, and making the person that Buck went in to save Bobby, you can have so many fun developments from there. My main thing is Buck having a moment where he gives up, not in a he let himself sink type situation, but a bit more of a not trying as hard as he could to swin (we know Buck can swin and I've talked about the possible parallels with greys anatomy and teh ferry boat crash and Meredith drowning in season 3, with @slowlyfoggydestiny inputs), and considering who Buck is, dying in the place of someone he loves is the way to go. So we would have Buck doing something stupid to save Bobby, ending up getting trapped himself, Eddie distracted treating Bobby and not noticing Buck is not there immediately (that would play out nicely with the way Eddie is always last to know, like he's the last to see Shannon in the car crash, he only finds out Buck and Chris were in the tsunami after they are safe, he's the last to look up after the lightning), we have Buck not being able to swim back to surface, then obviously I don't want to kill Buck permanently, so Eddie would dive for him and we could have something nice on the buddie front (dear God please give me "You're not doing this to me again").

So that way we can have parallels to the worst day ever and sink or swim/the searchers, with all the water elements, and searching for someone, and the way the team doesn't know someone they love is there. And that could be interesting because we would have to deal with the way Buck gave up, we would have to deal with Bobby feeling guilt for the way Buck nearly killed himself to save him, and since Eddie like to insert himself in the father/son conflicts (rec the lawsuit) we could have Eddie struggling with having to save Buck again, and misplacing his feelings. You can create a really nice tension between the 3 of them. You can have Eddie pissed that Buck stopped swimming but at the same time conflicted over the fact that he can't really be mad at Buck for dying, so redirecting that feeling into other things while the tension between them gets more present in the space that's already growing since the cemetery. You can have Bobby not dealing well with the fact that Buck almost died because of him again, and he could go overbearing or detached like the lawsuit, I think he would go overbearing this time. And most of all you can have Buck losing his shit because for a second he thought he was gonna die and was okay with it.

So far Buck has been completely ignoring the lightning and everything about it, right? Just move past it. But there's a limit to how much you can just shove past before you just can't anymore and Buck is past that threshold. So you can have Buck steadly spiraling out of control in the background up until a moment where he just snaps. I've been conflicted about how Buck snapping could happen in a way where he would get help as quickly as possible because he lives alone, so it's not like it happened with Eddie, that you can just have Chris make a call, but let's say we're reaching the climax of the situation and Buck does something stupid, going up that crane type stupid, the type of stupid that could get him killed, and everyone snapping at him, and Buck snapping himself. And you can have the overbearing we didn't see from Bobby and Eddie after the lightning happening now. You have Bobby show up, we get a little nice father/son moment, and we have the parallels to worst day ever when Bobby asks for help.

But I also like the idea of Eddie showing up in the middle of it all, not only just for the parallel with fear-o-phobia, but also because I think it would be good for all the growth we've witnessed from Eddie, to have him really mad, ready to confront Buck because he's being an idiot, and just switching the flip back to protector once he realizes how bad it actually is. Obviously, this all ends with Buck back in therapy.

And I feel like that could work if Buck is saving a random person, if he's saving Bobby, or even if he's saving Athena.

And with everything that happened to Buck and people Buck loves around water, or just the situations where he can't breathe, having him drown is THE perfect trigger. And to have him in the ocean trying to save someone he loves again, to have him completely ignore his own safety, could be so so so so so good.

I've been listening to the same 'quiet night on a pirate ship ambience' for the past 9 hours because this is how I do what I do

   Another quiet night for a small Inn established in a little clearing on the outskirts of any kingdoms, just within the border of Dahlia's neighboring country, Ferris. Although most townsfolk or adventurers who would stumble upon it during travel always asked them if they'd considered moving business, or if they ever regretted settling down out in the middle of nowhere.  To a vast majority, living in such an isolated plot of land would make them antsy or a little anxious, especially in the dark of midnight with no streetlamps to let you see the surroundings outside. However, to the Inkeeper, the thicket around their home was actually quite a comfort. Even if they did occasionally feel the tendrils of loneliness creeping up their spine.

   Lost in their thoughts, they hadn't heard the heavy, uneven footfall or the clambering of metal and wood make its way down the steps beside the small bar counter.

   "Still up," a gruff voice stated simply. "Should turn in for the night." The Inkeeper's attention was snatched by their only customer, one who's been—begrudgingly—staying here for a few days now. They had tried to leave more times than the day has hours, but gave up with a string of complaints and curses grumbled under their breath. Couldn't exactly blame the persistent Inkeeper, not when their guest had stumbled unceremoniously on to their doorstep decorated in blood and bruises, topping off the look with not one, but two crossbow bolts pierced through their left thigh.

   "Yer one teh talk," the Inkeeper replied with a soft snark to their tone, drawing their short glass of water to their lips and taking another sip. "Reckon I'ven't haird ye rest since ye got'ere, lost one." They'd nearly surprised themself with that sudden nickname. Lost one...

   A nickname they hadn't heard in a long time. Not since he was whisked away by the royal guard of what used to be one of two most favorable factions of Dahlia, Canis. They weren't sure what they had started calling it once the territory had turned itself on its head, but whoever was ruling the faction now was a monster who got off on the torment of others. A bloodthirsty beast.

I play genshin, right? So, lately, it's story and writing has been getting so much better! The writers can write now!

And now ppl are acting like it's the Most Serious Dark Horror game ever like.

Bro! It's fucking genshin impact! Pull yourself together! It's an anime game that's awful sometimes bur its okay to like it! Jesus...

Exactly. At the end of the day, I don't want to take away people's deeper level enjoyment when looking into a game's story and such. But we gotta live in reality, y'know? Games are made to entertain, to appeal, and to sell. Finding a niche and going all in on that niche is what video game devs strive to do. No matter how serious or dark and gritty FE can get for example, it's not gonna compromise itself by potentially alienating the crowd it's made for, which is the crowd that loves neat anime-esque characters in fantasy scenarios developing camaraderie during wartime. Which is why deeper discussions of things like "Teh Systum, man" and such often result in stories being too big for their britches and ending up saying nothing despite everything.

Genshin I haven't touched, but due to its global phenomenon appeal, I've been adjacent/witness to discourse, and it doesn't surprise me that similar criticisms apply. At the end of the day, it's a fun gacha-roleplaying game fusion that wants to sell appealing characters to its playerbase, and keeps creating more content for the fans to use new toys in. Even when the writers get serious, there should be a level of objectivity that things aren't gonna like, utterly and dramatically shift gears to the point where it gets a bit unrecognizeable from a casual fan's perspective. It's definitely a strange feeling to see the fandom talk about a game you like and have no idea what the fuck they're talking about due to them putting a lot more thought into things than the product requires lol.

The Quarry of he Frost, probably. I’m still shocked that fic got as popular as it did and it STILL has more subscriptions than any other fic I’ve ever written and I abandoned it halfway through and the storyline was basically a ripoff of a few other fics I’d read smashed together.

What is the fic that took you the most time to write ?

Hm. Fool’s Gold feels like the most involved fic I’ve ever had, but I also remember a lot of hours on Concatenation and my first major fic, Horsepower.

What do you think is the best fic you ever wrote (until today) ?

Concatenation (the whole series) or Divinity. I always call Concatenation my masterpiece—I don’t think I’ll ever write a fic that well again.

What do you think is the worst fic you ever wrote (until today) ?

Oh god. I don’t really have a worst. I think that each one was important to my growth as a writer and I never publish anything that doesn’t have a purpose or that I didn’t care about. But I guess my unfinished fics are my worst because I failed my readers in that respect.

What is the saddest thing that happened to you related to a fic (may it be success, a draft that erased itself and so on…) ?

I can’t really think of anything. I guess there is one scene in Concatenation where several readers kind of insulted me for putting ”too much” angst and steve whump and I’ve always kind of been embarrassed about it, especially since the part in question actually happened to me and everyone said it was unrealistic. ‘^^

What is/are the comment(s) you received that you can never forget even now (negative and positive) ?

Negative? Someone once said I should get some help because my fics are “clearly just a vehicle fo severe depression” lol. And then people on ao3 get mad at me sometimes becaus ethey either 1) didn’t read the tags 2) didn’t read teh archive warnings (there is a reason ao3 has an “author chose not to use warnings” selection) or 3) just didn’ tlike the ending nad got up set about it. No sympathy, honestly.

Positive? I LOVE all of my comments and I hoard each one like a treasure even though I don’t respond to many. I have to say @krusca’s comments (particularly "this fic goes beyond fanfiction”) have stuck with me over the years but I think my all time comment was by an ao3 anon who went by “Stellie" (i was just telling @tarmaclicious about this lol)

A snippet of what Stellie said: “There is an expression in my first language and I'm sure I've seen/heard it in English too but I can't remember the exact words so I will improvise and try to translate it. "You were pulling out my soul with a cotton bud" - this is exactly how I felt the whole time during reading this last part of the story. You were really killing me slowly. A fic you’d dream to write even if you know it wouldn’t get much readers/feedback ?

I pretty much write whatever I want without thinking about the feedback etc. Most people don’t like sad endings so I already have a smaller audience than the mainstream lol.

Coming back to the last question, did the fact that a fic wouldn’t get many readers (rare ship/different dynamic and so on) already stopped you from writing it ?

Eh, I think Rovinsky is probably the only ship I’ve loved that I haven’t written about. It’s all kinds of toxic and a lot of people hate it which doesn’t bother me but I haven’t come up with an interesting enough plotline to actually write something. Not to mention it’s a rare pair.

Which of your fics represent you the best ?

Oh god. Each one is kind of a life snapshot in some sense. I think the one that best represents my “brand” is either Divinity or the Concatenation series. Or A Tonic For What Ails you. I dunno, actually all of my fics are pretty on brand lol.

What is your main source of ideas ?

A lot of times it’s been failed Omegle RP interactions where I get frustrated when someone doesn’t play a character “right” enough times that I decide to write it myself LOL. But for Fool’s Gold I just saw an awkward pic of Charles and Carlos and I was like “haha what if they’re forced to like each other,” messaged my friend, and the rest is history. The F1 2021 season gives me the inspo for that one obviously, even though my endgame plot has been pretty much the same since I started it.

Is there an author that inspired you ?

Maggie Stiefvater, Cormac McCarthy, Gordon Korman have all influenced me.

Is there a fic you wish people to read, because it left a big impression on you ?

I recently read Subjunctive History by sirius and kill monsters in the rain by blackwayfarers and WOAH. I don’t really ship either of the ships but oh man, they stick with me. Those are the two recent ones I can think of, because I don’t actually read fic all that much. 😅 I’m really picky about writing.

What is your favorite topic to read ? And to write ?

I like reading nonfiction military history, general nonfiction, and books where the plot is most important but romance is a big undertone (The Song of Achilles, the Crazy Rich Asian series).

For writing I like a sad ending that you don’t see coming but when you read it again you realize you were just blind to all the signs (like real life).

What motivated you to make your works public ?

lmao. narcissism i guess? every time i post a chapter/work i get attention so keep doing it, it’s liek an endorphin trip LOL. half the fun for me is seeing the audience reaction!

A word you’d like to say to people who pass by / who follow you / who read your fics ?

don’t expect a happy ending. :)
