You don't remember falling to your knees, all you know is now that's how you sit now, bundled up with your head in your hands and sobbing, throat raw from the animalistic scream you'd let out just moments prior.

When you'd asked Eddie to tell you the truth, be honest and tell you what he'd done, you really did half expect him to engulf you in his arms and tell you nothing had happened, that what you'd heard was wrong and everyone in Hawkins was just out to get him and tear away the one good thing in his life.

You never thought he'd openly and willingly admit to the fact that he'd cheated on you. Taken some girl into the back of his van after a night at the bar, her perfume so intoxicating and her fawning over the band was enough for him. That was all it took and it made you sick to your stomach.

Eddie drops down beside you on the floor, his hand touching your back and you swat him away quickly, like you'd been burned by a cigarette end. You didn't want him near you - you didn't want him to look at you, talk to you, touch you. You wanted him to leave and never come back.

"I promise, baby, please," Eddie begs, shuffling so he can grab at your wrists and get you to look at him. In turn you rip your hands away, balling them into fists to stop yourself from shoving him away, "I promise you, she meant nothing. I just - I just -"

"You just what, Eddie?" Your voice his harsh as you finally lift your head to look him in the eyes, noticing his were red rimmed from crying as well, "You just tripped and fell into her pussy is that it? It 'just happened'?"

You air quote at him, before you push at his chest, knocking him onto his ass. He looks at you like a wounded puppy, his big doe eyes filling with fresh tears, "Oh, you're crying? You think you have the right to cry over this?" You scoff, getting up off your knees and shrugging your cardigan back up your shoulders.

"I never, ever thought you'd hurt me like this, Eddie." You sob, a new batch of tears escaping your raw eyes, forcing you to look up at the ceiling to fan them away, "Everybody told me I was wrong to get involved with you, that you were no good and you would end up just like your father. And I didn't listen, I gave you a chance and I fell in love with you. This is what you do to me, and you think it's fair that you cry too? Fuck you."

You don't miss the way Eddie winces when you bring up his dad, a low blow even after what he'd done. You almost feel guilty, in any other circumstances you'd be apologising, but he didn't deserve it. Not after what he'd put you through, he deserved every harsh slip of your tongue.

"I swear to you, baby," Eddie's voice is hoarse and wet as he struggles to get his words out, his heart breaking at hearing your own sobs and knowing that your harsh words were your way of shutting down and giving up on him, "I'll try and change my ways. I'll be better."

"It's too fucking late for that." You snap, looking back at him where he sat on the floor, "Get up and get out of my house. I don't ever want to see you again."

You're not sure what you're saying is true, if you really could cope with Eddie vanishing out of your life. But for now, it hurt less than allowing him to stay and letting him touch you, knowing what he'd done without a second thought.
