The relationship Stanley and the narrator have with one another is so god damn toxic but at the same time all they have is each other so they’re essentially forced to make it work for as long as possible. Which is why the skip ending hurts so much because the narrator loses the only meaningful relationship he had that kept him from going completely off the deep end because it was something to hold on to, Stanley grounded him and convinced him he wasn’t alone and someone needed him.
Codependency is one hell of a drug

Something something Doll and Uzi parallels…something something both losing parental figures because of them, both pulling the lone wolf trope but Uzi understands she can’t do this on her own and wants to move forward together while Doll is stuck in the past and can’t move on from what happened to her, Uzi understanding that the killer drones are just a pawn in all that but Doll is too much struck with grief and hatred for them because of what they did, something about Uzi coping with the virus on her own had N never found out about it because she was trying to hide it like Doll at first before she did the massacre at the prom while only Lizzy knew about the powers, both wanting revenge and Uzi wanting to murder all humans because of what they did to the drones and her mom, something something Doll wanting revenge on the vampires, something about Uzi not wanting the virus and being horrified by it, something about Doll also being horrified by the virus but weaponized it for her goal because she is just so angry and it consumes her something about "THIS IS THE ONLY CLUE TO WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME“ and that brief consideration from Doll because she understands, something about Uzi accepting help and Doll accepting help which results in her getting shot at because of just checking for the virus, only resulting that Doll pushes everyone away further.

What Talay said: If you're my portkey, why are we not back yet?
What Puen's insecure ass heard: Even if you're my soulmate, apparently it's not enough.

the funniest part of any Robin meeting the JL is that every Robin is so distinctly different from the previous one in terms of personality and vibes that the league literally gets backlash. and like, I don't blame them. not to mention that they are non-meta children that dress as a traffic light and fight crime alongside batman in gotham on a nightly basis. i'd also be a bit concerned. Batman, literally The Night of Gotham personified in the League's eyes, coming into a JL meeting: This is Robin, my crime-fighting partner. 11-year-old Dick Grayson, dressed in the brightest primary colours possible, vaguely hidden murder behind those eyes, never stops moving even for a moment: Hi! Superman: That's a child. That's-- Bats that is a child. You let a child--? Batman, deadpan: You try to stop him. Would you rather he try and murder a grown man with a wire?
Batman: This is Robin. 12-year-old Jason Todd, with the biggest grin on his face, about 3 books in his hand, stars in his eyes and a distinct street-kid drawl: Hey!!! Green Lantern: That's ... that's a different child. What?? Jason: I stole his tires :) Batman: Tried to. Jason, stage whispering to the League: basically did. Green Lantern: that is a different kid, right?? I'm not seeing shit??
Batman: This is Robin. 14-year-old Tim Drake, bo staff clutched in his hand, a wary and tired expression on his face, more on the quiet side, the literal walking definition of don't judge a book by it's cover: hello Flash: Where do you even find these-- Tim: I found myself.
Batman: This is Robin. 17-year-old Stephanie Brown, literally blonde, with a shit-eating grin, eyes full of nothing but mischief and the most explosive personality you've ever seen: hiya!! Superman: I give up. Stephanie: I know, I have that amazing effect on people.
Batman: This is Robin. 13-year-old Damian Wayne, a literal wet cat that will hiss at you, has a sword, the most judgemental stare you'll get from a teenager, ready to jump anyone there: Green Lantern: WHY DOES HE HAVE A SWORD?! Batman: ... he came with the sword.

man I wish people understood how much it sucks ass to be neurodivergent and trying to find the middle ground where people like/tolerate you. like, I'm either "boring" (trying to wait my turn in conversations, holding space for other people, taking a back seat to let others get some spotlight) or "too much" (too loud/talking too much, getting excited to share, trying to participate in group conversations/activities). No one really talks about how much of being neurodivergent is just sort of trying to make yourself palatable.
I feel like so much of my life has been spent trying to find this effortless sort of middle ground everyone else seems to automatically already know, and I'm always swinging too far one way or the other. I'm lucky to have neurodivergent friends who grok me, but goddamn I wish that I could just like, exist without the constant background script in my brain that's like "you're being too loud. You're not talking enough. you're being self-centered. you're being boring. you're wrong, you're wrong, you're wrong." I feel like I'm back in high school trying to make friends but stuck as the eternal "weird kid"
it's just... lonely and sucks bad.
