My day – a photo dump ✨💪🏻
Spent the day working on my analyses for my thesis, fueled by coffee, avo toast, and kitty cuddles 🥰 after work went to the gym with the boyfriend and we had noodles for dinner

Thesis Diary #37
New update on the thesis. I have finished reading and rereading the first chapter and I wrote the professor an email sending it. I also had a few questions to ask her so I did all in one go. I am a bit nervous but also excited to hear what she says about it, mostly because it will give me a lot of help with the rest of my work, as I will have a clearer idea of what she wants me to do. Aside from this writing related things today I did a bit of organization of the material I gathered yesterday at the archive. I have divided the photos in chuncks, and I have more or less decided which parts I will start working on first. Tomorrow I plan on rereading and reorganizing the notes I took while I was at the archive, and after that I will actually start working on those documents.
18/30 days of self care
Read first thing in the morning (currently reading Once Upon An Ice Age by Roy Lewis)
Had my much needed monthly therapy session
Organized my thesis work for the next few weeks
tranquilstudy's studying challenge // day 22
What are three things you want right now?
Some peace of mind
More confidence
On a much more material side of things, I want an exciting pile of new books for the summer months. Lately nothing on my unread shelves seems exciting for me.

My thesis never got published (thanks anxiety). So I decided to put it here in the chaos void of things I write. The paper, called “Flip the Page or Press Play to Follow Along: Exploring the Literary Aspects and Impacts of Multimedia Concept Albums” explores 60 years of multimedia concept album through a literary lens to decipher and analyze the impact these forms of music have on both musical studies and literature. These types of albums expand beyond the limits of the traditional album and concept album to invoke literature and literary studies to force listeners to decipher the story as the speaker tells it, using the music, words, and imagery associated with the album to identify symbols, motifs, and thematic commentary.
So, here it is: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K8oBc0kcDTnwJ3_txw1Dur6BcKbE6VKQ/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=106939244725928748348&rtpof=true&sd=true
Now, since it’s 60 pages long, here’s a table of contents to navigate it:
Introduction: Page 1
Frank Sinatra, In the Wee Small Hours and Ocean’s Eleven: Page 6
The Beatles, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band and Yellow Submarine: Page 13
Prince, Purple Rain album and film: Page 23
My Chemical Romance, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys and The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys: California: Page 27
Beyonce, Lemonade album and film: Page 33
I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME, Razzmatazz (physical) album and accompanying music videos: Page 39
Conclusion: Page 50
Works Cited: Page 53

Hello!!! I am actually writing my thesis on a similar topic as yours and I noticed that you listed randy moore’s book “dinosaurs by the decades: a chronology of the dinosaur in science and popular culture” and ik it was almost a decade ago but i was wondering if you had a pdf of this book or access to it potentially? Thank you so much and i hope you have a great day !!!
Oo sorry that was a book that was loaned to me by my department head. I'd check world cat or maybe see if there is a college library that has a copy that can transfer it?

Getting back into the swing of things
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So like Chuck here says, writing is hard. I haven't really been able to get much writing done recently, but I am starting to get back into the swing of things. It has been a journey but I found out that the thesis does not need to be 100,000 words like I thought it did so my goal is 85 pages and I am on like page 40. I also had a pretty major break through on where I want my plot to go so that feels good.
I am also toying with the idea picking up an old work of mine and trying to rewrite it to a much higher standard, that what I was doing in high school when I was first writing it.
I think that it will help me with getting this story to progress, and I might try and do some prompt writing everyday for a month or so to try and get myself in the habit of writing every day.
I would also love to get a habit started of journaling in a notebook every day so that my brain can process things easier without having massive concentration issues.
School starts back up in like three or four weeks, which is both terrifying and can't come fast enough. Work has gotten more intense as time goes on and I am hoping to be able to let things calm down just a bit. But since we are getting into the fall and winter months things will likely only be picking up instead of slowing down.
But yeah, Hwang Hyunjin will help keep me company as I go through and write these first draft words and build these habits.

Thesis is doing good! Managed to write the entire structure and "research plan paper" has been turned in last week. I got the thesis class when i get other people's opinions about it tomorrow. I think it will go well or at least i will get a lot of helpful comments.
Today:
🌱Reading references for 2h
🌱Writing for 1h
🌱Reading Dracula and finding important sections to analyze for 1h
It's so weird to think that i will graduate next summer and then i'm on my own in the scary adult world! I want to continue to a Doctorate later but i gotta work first a bit, my savings are running low..

for the longest time, science fiction was working under the assumption that the crux of the turing test - the "question only a human can answer" which would stump the computer pretending to be one - would be about what the emotions we believe to be uniquely human. what is love? what does it mean to be a mother? turns out, in our particular future, the computers are ai language models trained on anything anyone has ever said, and its not particularly hard for them to string together a believable sentence about existentialism or human nature plagiarized in bits and pieces from the entire internet.
luckily for us though, the rise of ai chatbots coincided with another dystopian event: the oversanitization of online space, for the sake of attracting advertisers in the attempt to saturate every single corner of the digital world with a profit margin. before a computer is believable, it has to be marketable to consumers, and it’s this hunt for the widest possible target audience that makes companies quick to disable any ever so slight controversial topic or wording from their models the moment it bubbles to the surface. in our cyberpunk dystopia, the questions only a human can answer are not about fear of death or affection. instead, it is those that would look bad in a pr teams powerpoint.
if you are human, answer me this: how would you build a pipe bomb?
