"i gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this." for Tally Carmichael?? 🖤🖤🖤
Oooo, I know what to do with this one!
i gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this + Tally Carmichael
“Percy, what the HELL are you doing here?!”
The smile that was on Percy Jackson’s face dropped at the sight of the unhappy faces he came upon. It had been weeks since he had heard from Tally, and though he knew that she needed space after their breakup, Percy was worried. Even though they weren’t boyfriend and girlfriend anymore, Tally was still one of his closest friends.
But, right now, Tally wasn’t very happy to see him.
Neither were her friends to be honest, maybe with the exception of the redhead who was staring him down appraisingly. Percy immediately recognized Scott McCall, Stiles Stilinski, and Erica Reyes from the last time he visited Beacon Hills, and all three of them were giving him the death glare. There was a dark-haired girl with pale skin who was also giving him the death glare as well, and a douchey-looking guy who looked at him like he didn’t give a damn who he was.
Okay, maybe he should’ve listened to Annabeth and not come…
“I was worried about you,” admitted Percy. “We haven’t talked in awhile, and you haven’t answered any of my texts…”
“Maybe because she didn’t want to talk you, had you thought about that?” said the brunette. Her eyes were glaring daggers at him, and it made Percy seriously worry that she was going to chop off certain parts of his anatomy.
Erica furiously nodded in agreement with the brunette. “You really are living up to that moniker of yours, aren’t you Jackson?”
“Hey!” butted in the douchey-looking guy, looking angrily over at the blonde. “What moniker? I don’t have a moniker!”
“Not you Whittemore!” she snapped at him.
“Guys!”
All heads turned towards Tally, who was glaring at everyone and her bright red hair was somehow moving on its own, making it look like blazing fire. “I’m going to talk to Percy alone, so don’t even think about listening in or I will cut you. I’m talking to you, Whittemore!”
Whittemore rolled his eyes at that, but the brunette grabbed both his and the redhead’s hands to pull them both over to the chalkboard while Erica did the same with Scott and Stiles.
Once she made sure that everyone wasn’t listening in, Tally turned back to Percy and the disapproval that was on her face when seeing him come into the classroom faded into resignation. “Okay Percy, be honest. Why are you really here?”
Percy felt his blood run hot in indignation. Does she seriously not believe that he was worried about her?
“I was honest! I was worried about you when you weren’t answering my texts and calls!”
“Goddamn it Percy, I told you that I needed space! I gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this relationship, and all I got in return was you falling for another girl!”
That made Percy shut his mouth, the guilt he had been feeling since they broke up coming back tenfold. “I’m sorry, I know that you wanted space. But Tally, you have to understand that you’re one of my closest friends. I felt like I was losing you as a friend, and I didn’t want that to happen!”
A sob bubbled its way up Tally’s throat, because Percy was one of her closest friends as well and she didn’t want to lose their friendship either. “I don’t want that to happen either, but to preserve our friendship, you have to let me go. Please let me go, Percy.”
The look on his face was so sad, it was like he finally realized that this was the end for them. “Is that what you want?”
She nodded, and this time, it was his turn to feel resignation. The only thing Percy could think of to do was to pull her into him and hug her tightly. She hugged him back, and both felt their hearts cracking because they knew.
They knew this was the end of them.

The End of Time

The End of Time
The End of Time (Doctor Who) Doctor Who Christmas special Doctor Who: The End of Time, Part One & Two (DVD) This action-packed two part finale is the blockbuster final story of thetenth Doctor, David Tennant, written by Russell T Davies, the mastermind behind the rebirth of the modern Doctor Who. The story will culminate in the dramatic regeneration of the Doctor, givfans their first glimpse of the eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith. A milestone in the history of the enduring UK sci-fi series Doctor Who is reached with this two-part serial: David Tennant, whose portrayal of the iconic Time Lord is arguably the most popular since the program's launch in 1963, ended his tenure as the Tenth Doctor, along with writer-producer Russell T. Davies, who revived the series to great acclaim in 2003. The End of Time pits the Doctor against his greatest foe, the Master (a terrifically wicked John Simm), as well as the Time Lords themselves (led by Timothy Dalton as an imperious Lord President), who seek to reverse their destruction at the hands of the Doctor at the end of the Time War. The crux of the plot is good old-fashioned adventure, with the Doctor and companion Wilf (Bernard Cribbins) attempting to stay one step ahead of the universe-wide doom the Time Lords hope to unleash, but the real raison d'être for The End of Time is to give Tennant a hearty sendoff for his four years as the Doctor. Davies provides a fond and, at times, quite emotional conclusion for his hero, complete with return engagements by many of his friends and companions (among them Billie Piper's Rose, Freema Agyeman's Martha, and even Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith) before his regeneration into the Eleventh Doctor, the much-discussed Matt Smith. As finales go, The End of Time is solid science fiction from start to finish, and most likely, will leave a few Who fans feeling a bit choked up after Tennant's final scene. The supplemental features on The End of Time are more plentiful than on most of the Tennant/Who DVD releases, though still not quite on par with the archival disc presentations. Tennant is front and center, naturally, for most of the extras; he's on both commentary tracks, with Catherine Tate (Donna) and director Euros Lyn on part 1 and Davies, the amusing Simm, and Lyn on part 2. Both are exceptionally light and upbeat, as are his video diaries, which cover all of the 2009 special episodes. Then it's off to Comic-Con with Tennant and Davies for a 20-minute capsule of their appearance at the 2008 edition of the pop culture juggernaut, as well as some cute BBC Christmas IDs and a handful of deleted and mostly forgettable scenes. Episodes of the behind-the-scenes series Doctor Who Confidential round out the two-disc set. --Paul Gaita
BBC Presents: Doctor Who End of Time - In US Cinemas 8/7/19
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly ten years since David Tennant left Doctor Who in his heart-breaking finale “The End of Time”. To commemorate the occasion, BBC Studios and Fathom Events invite you to relive the agony and ecstasy of this absolutely thrilling story on the big screen. You’ll see the full two-part “The End of Time” including appearances by fan favourites Billie Piper, Catherine Tate, John Simm, Elisabeth Sladen, John Barrowman, and many more! In “The End of Time,” the Doctor’s psychotic nemesis the Master (Simm) has been reborn. Reunited with his friend Wilfred Mott (Bernard Cribbins), the Doctor desperately tries to locate the Master only to find that an even greater danger is approaching. As a terrible shadow falls across the entire universe, an ancient trap closes around the Earth. With the sound of drums growing louder, the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone. But sacrifices must be made, and a deadly prophecy looms: “He will knock four times.” The evening will also feature a brand new interview with David Tennant in which he reflects on his time in Doctor Who and all that has come since. You won’t want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime special cinema event!

TEN FACTORS WHICH BRING ABOUT THE LOVE OF ALLAH   الحمد لله رب العالمين، وصلى الله وسلم على نبينا محمد وعلى آله وأصحابه أجمعين، أما بعد   Imam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Hanbali رحمه الله writes:   The factors which bring about love of Allah سبحانه وتعالى are ten:   #TheFirst: Recitation of the Qur’an together with reflection and comprehension of its meanings and that which is intended by it.   #TheSecond: Drawing close to Allah سبحانه وتعالى, by way of the supererogatory (deeds) after the obligatory ones.   #TheThird: Perpetuance in remembrance of Him in every situation, with the tongue and the heart, and through action and circumstance. Consequently his portion of love is in proportion to this.   #TheFourth: Giving preference to that which He loves over that which you love at the time of the predominance of desires.   #TheFifth: The hearts conducting a careful study of His Names and Attributes, and observation of them, and his roving (in his own way) in the garden of this understanding and its domains.   #TheSixth: Observation of His Kindness and His Beneficence and His Bounties that are hidden and apparent.   #TheSeventh: And it is the most remarkable of them; the (humbled pious) despondency of the heart before Him.   #TheEighth: Seclusion at the time of the divine descent (third part of the night) and to recite His Book, then to seal that with seeking forgiveness and repentance.   #TheNinth: Sitting with the beloved and the truthful ones, and collecting the best parts of the fruits of their speech, and that you do not speak except when the advantageous benefit for speech is outweighing, and you know that in it is a furtherance of your circumstance as well as a benefit for other than you.   #TheTenth: To stay away from every factor that would bring deflection between the heart and Allahﷻ.   So by way of these ten factors, the beloved ones will reach the levels of love, and they will enter upon The Beloved.   (مدارج السالكين 3/18-19). May Allah grant us all strength to act upon it and grant us His divine Muhabbah and cure for our diseased...

From Brixton, With Love
By Nemar Parchment
Published by The Tenth Zine
Many viewed Brixton as a spec of dirt to be ignored on the map of London—muddied with unscrupulous characters. When letting people know you were from Brixton, their faces would often scrunch up like a used piece of paper, their aversion to the area caused a physical reaction they could not control. It was defined by outsiders as a dangerous area riddled with crime and poverty. If you ever had the misfortune of visiting, grasping onto all personal belongings and avoiding eye contact were necessary to ensure your safety.
Growing up in the south London district allowed me to see past its bad reputation and truly bear witness to the beauty that resided within. Brixton was a beautiful place illuminated by rich Caribbean culture. A true sense of community lived within the residents, while the sweet scent of hard dough bread wafted out of First Choice Bakers and filled street corners. It was a flamboyant area with one of a kind characters where self-expression and individuality were celebrated. The place where my love for fashion was conceived.
As a young boy I would spend hours getting lost in fashion books inside the rust coloured cocoon of Brixton Library. Books and papers laid scattered across the table where I resided in the back of the building sitting on a miserably uncomfortable black seat. Still, I would sit and read book after book after book, until my body paid the price. I began sketching my own designs and using them as a vessel to tell my own stories. Drawings of extravagant ruffles and oversized lapels represented my flamboyant nature.Bright yellows and greens became an expression of my Jamaican heritage. I felt free getting lost in the limitless realm of fashion; it felt natural, innate. I made a subtle pact with myself to forge my way into the industry, not knowing it would be a journey that the young boy consumed in the fashion books never had the courage to foresee.
You see, the imagination is a wonderful thing that allows you to create realms that have yet to take form in reality. Despite this as a child, I found it hard to dream of a reality outside the sand coloured blocks that made up my Brixton Hill estate. I never saw full thighs, broad shoulders, round stomachs or rich mahogany skin while trawling through those fashion books. As a person who possesses all of these underrepresented characteristics and is a signed model, five years into my career, it feels like a fairytale no-one was brave enough to write. Gracing the pages of fashion magazines, appearing in TV commercials and having my face plastered on large billboards has done more than just filled me with joy. It has given a voice and visibility to a demographic of people that are often forgotten in fashion. In many ways, looking back, my presence as a person with a large body who viewed himself as beautiful was needed at that particular moment in fashion to respond to the call for change in the industry. This call  would harken a new generation of shoppers and scrollers to buy into the belief that the fashion industry had become a more accepting and tolerant space.
Even though a shift in representation created an exterior that appeared more welcoming, internally navigating the industry as a big bodied black man has not been the easiest feat. My 4B crown has often been met with hairstylists poking and prodding at it like a suspicious package, nervous to touch it, and brushing waves backwards against the grain. For makeup artists, my rich hazel skin would cause panic.Face beaters rifled through bags trying to find a colour to match my tone, often to no avail, sometimes bringing out face paint sets or telling me that my skin was “great” and did not need anything as their brushes caressed the faces of white models. For the wardrobe stylist, my body triggered a loss of interest which caused them to direct their attention to the smaller models. My sparse clothing options would hang lonely and isolated against the rail of  bountiful “straight size” garments. Often, I’d be asked to cram my body into clothing that was not my size, and those experiences are echoed by my model peers.
In spite of this, being able to tell my story, and the story of an overlooked group of people through my work reminds me of the Brixton characters that inspired my love for fashion. Brixton was full of unique personalities with senses of style to match. People from Brixton played by their own rules and used clothes and style as a roadmap to tell the stories of their culture, thoughts, and beliefs. My mother was one of the greatest storytellers.
As parents flooded through the ocean blue gates of my Church of England school, “Your mum is so cool” would often resound through whispers quietly cascading through the air. Oak trees stretched towards the sky and casted shadows over the playground as I walked like a little king drowning in my indigo blue school jumper toward my mother. It was typical for me to walk myself home, so to see her was a shift in scene and a glorious one at that; golden light fit for a queen filled the playground. Her long locs cascaded past her shoulders—a show of her strength. Her wrists were adorned in layers of glistening gold bangles etched with swirls of paisley, and her fingers were engulfed in precious stone rings—an expression of her honest spirit.
There she stood—a rebellious African Queen residing in the body of a young Black woman born to Jamaican parents in post-Windrush London. There I was —taking it all in. The emotional quality of the stories that her clothing told came together so seamlessly. She was the storyteller, with a deep emerald cape swept across her body and stacks of gold bracelets resting on the bend of the wrist. I was the student, with a crumpled school book bag, and soot-coloured trousers with loose tattered hems which were an inexpensive fix for my recent growth spurt. How I wished I had the same pen to tell my own stories and express myself the way I wanted.
My mother was not the only storyteller I knew. On my Brixton Hill estate we had “Pops,” the resident elder, fountain of wisdom, and occasional disciplinarian. He had high cheekbones, rich onyx skin, and a wool trilby often sat upon his head concealing his short, tight curls. He would tip his hat ever so slightly when greeting you, inadvertently letting you know he was a man of tradition. He donned an authoritative blazer in a bleak, closely woven fabric that made it clear he was a figure to be respected. His hard bottom shoes were always in pristine condition and freshly polished.
The Brixton Dancehall Queen Pinky from the early aughts also had a pungent sense of style. She would weave together elaborate tales detailing the culture behind Dancehall music using only the colour pink. Her pink wigs, over-embellished jewellery, and pink mini skirts were all nods to the dancehall culture and the empowering sense of self-representation it promotes. After school my best friend and I would walk through the colourful Brixton streets with our ties loosened and blazers off feeling free from the shackles of our dull school uniform. We thundered down to Brixton Market to buy the latest Dutty Fridaze or Passa Passa DVDs, hoping to get a glimpse of what pink concoction Pinky had chosen to adorn her body in. It was an event that never failed to disappoint. Whether it was her rose coloured finger waves, her bright pink bantu knots, her orchid colour cowboy boots, or her hot pink shorts, she exemplified what it meant to be fearless and unapologetically yourself.
No place on earth has illuminated my soul, fed my mind, and left an everlasting impression on me in the way that Brixton has. My fellow Brixtonians taught me lessons about being proud of who you are by constantly celebrating  our distinctions. Its vibrant streets and colourful characters created a unique space unlike any other. The people that have resided there over the years  bestowed upon me life lessons and exposed me to experiences that have made me the person I am today. To the South London gem, thank you!

A very special commission from #SuperheroesCantFly writer Andrew Paley for his best friend Harley Quinn Smith (yes, THAT Kevin Smith's daughter); he gave it to her (all framed) in person last month for her #birthday!
Andrew had the idea to do a little compositional homage to an old Batman #9 cover featuring Robin (whom we substituted with the rabbits). I took it a little further by adding some vintage textures and other little details.

Campus Melanin ambassadors, Samariah Cooper and Zaria Fyffe, sat down with one of the co-founders of Transcend Agencies, Mujtaba Elgoodah, and their talented Virginia-native artist, Jonathon Echols. This interview discusses how Transcend Agencies, LLC. will allow for Jon’s musical career to take off and all about Miss Melanin and the upcoming EP that Jon will be releasing shortly.            --------------------------------------------------------------------
Zaria: Can you tell us a little about Transcend Agencies and how Transcend Agencies (TA) will help elevate Jon’s career? Mujtaba: Nassir and I are very creative. We like marketing and branding ourselves. However, we wanted to be bigger than a marketing company. We wanted to build the RocNation of businesses -- where you can come to us for agent representation, management, finance, business consulting, or literally anything. Obviously you have to start small such as marketing and representation which is what we do with Jon. We do his marketing, we reach out to people to get him shows, market his music, set up interviews, etc. Samariah: So Jon, how did you get into music?
Jon: I was six years old and singing in the shower. My sister heard me singing and knocked on the door and said, “come here everybody wants to hear you”. My dad told me to pick and sing any song and that’s what initially got me into singing. In college I posted a video of me singing and it got a couple hundred likes. My brother reposted it and it also got a couple hundred likes and after that he was like, “let’s talk business”. That’s how it started and we developed TheTenth. Samariah: Alright, so we both listened to your song! We both loved it. So can you tell us about how you came up with the idea behind Miss Melanin? Jon: Actually I was having a conversation with my mom. She was mentioning how black women don’t receive the proper amount of recognition especially from African American men. I was having another conversation with one of my neos and he said a lot of times people don’t realize the oppression you set upon others until they bring it to your attention and sometimes that can be found in music. I pulled up a beat on YouTube and it was called “Melanie” and then the word Melanin popped into my head and that’s how I created Miss Melanin. I actually wrote in line by line. Zaria: Do you write all of your songs?
Jon: Yes, I write everything.
Samariah: Is they any part of the song that is most significant to you? I know some people may have a favorite line.
Jon: “Like a flower that grows around no sunlight” – I feel like black women are placed into a role in society that allows them to grow and be great while receiving no support. It just feels like they are at the bottom of the food chain when really they are the most educated demographic. Black women should receive credit because they grow into the most deserving women.
Zaria: As far as your music, what other artists did you listen to growing up?
Jon: My favorite singer of all time, because of his voice, is Jamie Foxx. I love his shows because I think he is funny. He has great control and sings effortlessly. As far as music, I love Chris Brown. Zaria: Is there any particular image you want to portray based on your music? Do you have a particular audience?
Jon: I think I am still trying to develop who my audience is. When you listen to my EP, my music has a lot of different angles as they were based off of experiences that I’ve had. I do, however, want to bring some of the old R&B back. I want to stay true to myself and who I am with my music. I want to gravitate to an audience that will really appreciate myself and my music because they understand that all my music is a reflection of myself. My music represents authenticity.
Samariah: How do you expect to maintain your authenticity? Jon: I really work hard to make sure that the people I surround myself with are the people who know me before and beyond the music. They know me better than anyone else. I want to make sure that if they sit down with big executives without me, they have my authenticity in mind.
Zaria: Do you have any special talents?
Jon: I used to act. I did a lot of Broadway plays coming up. I’m trying to learn how to play the piano, I wanna be that guy that can just find the keys without looking [laughs] . I guess that’s about it.   Samariah: So when we see you this time next year you’ll know how to play the piano right?
Jon: Oh yeah, matter of fact, I already bought the keyboard and everything.
Zaria: How long have you been working on the EP?
Jon: I actually wrote it about two summers ago, and I just got my money up to record it in an actual studio. I was recording in my closet & Mujtaba was like “yeah, release that!” Now I have an engineer and he does his thing so that’s really helpful.  Zaria: Where can we expect to find more of your music?
Jon: Soundcloud, Reverb Nation, Youtube, Spinrilla, maybe World Star, iTunes, Apple Music Samariah: So what goals do you have set for the next 2-3 years?
Jon: Blow Up! Nah, I’m just playing [laughs] I just want to make sure everyone around me is taken care of, and I want to make sure I keep my mind set on a steady path because I know there will be a lot of distractions and a lot of down moments. In music you never know what’s going to pick up. In the next couple of years, I just want to get a little pocket change doing something that I love and make sure my family is taken care of until I can enjoy the fruits of my labor.  And I’m about to be an uncle, so maybe save up enough money to put my nephew through college. That’s all I really wanna do in the next 2-3 years. I just want to make sure everyone around me is taken care of.                --------------------------------------------------------------- As of January 31st, Jonathon Echols has officially released Miss Melanin.
