the headcanon that avian hybrids give away feathers as a courtship ritual seems to be fairly popular in the fandom, so I am thinking about Grian giving some to his boyfriends.

Mumbo has a particularly beautiful one he keeps pinned to the lapel of his suit. He has a subconscious habit of preening it to keep his hands busy, keeping it pristine even when the rest of him is covered in engine grease and redstone dust. Grian laughs and says he can just have more, but Mumbo insists this one is special, it is the first one Grian ever gave him and he intends to take good care of it.

Scar has a necklace he can slot two or three feathers into. He was never good at keeping track of things and these are important enough that he does not want to risk losing them. Even so the feathers are easily exchanged for new ones, as they sometimes get destroyed when he suffers a particularly nasty death to kinetic energy. If the necklace gives him an excuse to walk around shirtless, well, who is he to complain? ("But Grian, how could I not show off these beautiful feathers of yours?" "Have you considered that you could simply wear them over your shirt?" "That just wouldn't be the same")

Big B's is also in a necklace, this one far simpler. Where Scar's was made on hermitcraft with all the time and resources in the world, this one was made with leather that Grian really could not spare, time he should have spent more wisely, a testament to his devotion. The single feather is perhaps even more beautiful than the one Mumbo owns, a beauty that is reserved for Big B's eyes only, as he wears it concealed under his many layers at all times. It is rare for items to stick with a player through respawn, rarer still through world-jumps. Only items of great sentimental value tend to get carried over. So it is only natural that after Big B wakes up back on his own world, he feels the feather hanging over his heart, a memento of his secret soulmate.

mumbo’s one feather that he keeps very safe vs scar and his new feather every other week FBDHRGFF god I love them

and !!!! OUGHHH BIGB’S…… I think he keeps it on him at all times, but maybe he moves to keeping it in his pocket when he lands back in his own world. he keeps it close and very protected, taking good care of it. he makes a newer necklace with better materials and gentle hands that no longer need to carry weapons.
