Thorn sits in Fox's office, waiting for the commander to arrive and discuss the last mission with him.

In his boredom and tiredness, Thorn’s eyes gaze around the office only to halt at a potted plant.

A Ficus, Fox had once told him. A gift for a leader, symbolizing unity and success.

The ficus was a gift from Fox's batch. A gift that Fox still clings on to, although the plant is long dead. His commander refuses to let go, refuses to throw it away.

This little plant means everything to him.

Fox had always taken good care of it. Whenever he had a few minutes for himself, he would water it, he would check the soil and add nutrients to ensure a long life.

Yet it died anyways. All the care and effort was for nothing. And nothing he does will bring the plant back to life. No matter how many times he waters it, no matter how often he changes the soil, the ficus will stay dead. The roots already too rotten.

Still, Fox clings to it. With hopeless faith, with sadness and fondness in his eyes. To one day be united with his batch again.

<You are already here.>

Thorn looks up at his best friend. At his brother, his Ori'vod. For him Fox will always be a man to look up to.

<And you are late.>

They both quietly stare at each other until the older commander breaks the eye contact with a snort. He doesn’t say anything. Only shakes his head and walks to the ficus to water it.

Thorn watches him. Patiently, softly. Quietly promising to be always by his brother’s side.

A promise that he will not keep.

One day Fox will enter his office, broken, full of grief, and find another plant.

A red crown of thorns, representing a painful burden, suffering, guilt and anxiety. But also good luck.

Another plant Fox will lovingly, yet with bleeding heart, take care of, daily remembering his vod'ika.

I feel like this isn't discussed enough but the four of the five people who died in Romeo and Juliet were teens and victims of the Capulet and Montague feud. Shakespeare basically almost killed off an entire Verona generation.

Mercutio: He's the first to die and he's not even from either house, he's actually related to the prince. Mercutio's death is where comedy turns to tragedy, and he dies cursing the two houses who let their feud not only destroy each other but Verona too.

Tybalt: He's the example of letting the feud consume you and letting it dictate your every action. He was so consumed by the curse of the feud that he hunted down Romeo for just showing up to a Capulet party. Rember, he had no idea that Romeo secretly married Juliet, and per Lord Capulet Romeo actually had a good reputation around town. That's how lost Tybalt was.

Romeo and Juliet: Our lead couple who tried to bridge their houses through love after several generations of hatred. They didn't want anything to do with the feud, they were just sadly born into it. Which is demonstrated by Romeo's and Tybalt's fight, Romeo never wanted to fight but that didn't mean he couldn't. In the end the couple succeeded stopping the feud but at the cost of their own lives.

It's sad that all of these authority figures, the Capulets, the Montegues, and the Prince (yes, he's included), failed so badly they lost a generation. By the end of the play the only two left of their generation that we know of is Rosaline Capulet, and Benvolio Montague.

Maybe they were left to cross the bridge their cousins built.

Imagine Barty standing at Regulus grave, alone, no one there to mourn him other than Barty, Evan nowhere to be found,Dorcas gone to the other side of war.

Him slowly going into madness, not knowing what to do next, what comes next in life. Following Voldemort just as something to keep him sane, to keep him from falling into madness completely. Not being able to escape. And then finding out that Voldemort killed Dorcas. Mad because he was following the man that made him suffer.

Not being able to meet Luna because it was to late. He had already gone way to far into the dark side and blaming everything on himself.

Him having to stay with his father again, the one who made him suffer in the first place. Having to escape again.

Finding out it was Alastor Moody who killed Evan, seeking for revange.

Watching Luna already grown up, remembering when he still had his friends. Barty one day asking her about her mother only to find out that she too is dead. That he is the only one left.

Him being mad at himself from following the path he choose. Mad because he couldn’t save anyone.

Because this was not supposed to happen. They were not supposed to end this way, they were supposed to stay alive, to end this war themselves, to work together as they’ve done for all those years.

But one got down and the others followed "how evergreen our group of friends. Don’t think we’ll say that word again"

In the end it wasn’t all worth it.

I feel like Tui loves to just give all the WOF characters copious amounts of issues in short spans of time..Especially the Arc 2 Dragonets IMO.

Moon: Isolated because of something she couldn't control and now has so.many.fucking.issues. and she can hear everyone all of the time, CONSTANT MIGRANES. She was emotionally manipulated by the only other mind-reader she ever/may ever meet and then took part in killing(?) the only dragon that could have ever understood her to her full extent. She felt as if she was constantly invading everyone's privacy because of something she couldn't control (Moon is my favorite other than sunny or winter)

Winter: Bro got the shittiest WOF parental figure other than the ARC 1 Dragonets he constantly had to succeed at virtually impossible tasks in order to survive. He has been practically brainwashed by living in a society with centuries of fear of Darkstalker, then got brainwashed by him. The society He was raised in pushed unrealistic expectations for survival, the gifts from the Animus dragons were even strictly controlled. He lived in a controlling and environment that valued status more than someone's actual worth and acted out against his peers because of that

Kinkajou: D: she was kidnapped and experimented on by her best friends tribe but still has the kindness and grace to "get over it" and then proceeding to find out that that bestie has been hearing her every thought (JARRING) she still had the strength to forgive(?) Moon and move past it because she understood. She almost died because she wanted to help Winter find his brother and Scarlet and save Jade mountain. Everything she goes through is because she's too kind for her own good, even the venom incident with Glory's queen trials. And then she was enchanted VIA Anemones version of kindness to be in love with Turtle.

Quibli: he grew up in an abusive and dangerous environment where he had to steal and fight for basic resources to survive. His kindness was met with hardness and violence. His siblings were vindictive and just jerks and his mother was even worse, she gave him a scar because he tried giving her a coconut. Thorn was a savior to him and I'm like 50% sure that Quibli saw her as a god? He's so loyal because he's scared she's going to abandon and have no use for him :(

Turtle: Queen coral really had so many sons she didn't notice he was magic. He grew up worrying about his soul going bad. Food scarcity was mentioned once or twice in his book. I think Coral does care about her sons, she's just really worried about her daughter's safety, losing her husband and daughter in a very short amount of time had to have a lasting effect on her. He enchanted his little sister because he was scared of being strapped in a harness like his sister or even ending up like Albatross.

Peril: mind washed murder weapon who is slightly codependent...

I just watched an ATLA edit and oh my god. It’s the marauders. You cannot tell me it’s not the fucking marauders. Specifically, Zuko and Azula are Sirius and Regulus. Just think about it. Aang is definitely James (just not bald😭), Katara and Sokka are Peter and Marlene (idk why they just are😭) and then Toph is Remus! Idk why but it all fits in my head nicely, but just imagine James finally manages to win the black brothers over after being hunted by them both so that they can make their father proud of them and shit only for their Uncle Alphard (Iroh) to show them love.
