I think Natsuhiko can’t die.

Is not a new theory by any means but I’ll talk about it anyway because at this point I’ll be genuinely surprised if it isn’t somewhat canon.

On the back of the newest cover (vol 19), he has a cut noose around his neck and a pair of scissors.

The implication he cut off his noose is interesting, because the only times I have seen a character with a noose was in chapter’s 20 cover, and the cover of volume 3.

Mitsuba Sousuke died and Yugi Amane's death is the focus of vol 3: is what stuck with Tsuchigomori enough to be his yorishiro.

on the ‘Horoscope + Special Skill’ extra, his special skill is said to be “durability” instead of “flirting” or something more expected of his character.

Considering how little manga time he has, we see him coming back from near-death experiences with no relevant injuries a lot.

(he only comes back from the Tea Party incident after Hell of Mirrors, so he spent days or even weeks running from door to door, facing who knows how many deadly places before reaching the school again)

He isn’t affected by the boundaries either, since he showed up wet after his door to door adventure (so he crossed boundaries) and poped up to ‘help’ Kou on chapter 90 in the far shore.

He does seem to feel pain but he never fears for his life.

And it’s not like he is oblivious to what is dangerous and what isn’t: He tells Nene she can die in the Tea Party but shows no care about the possibility he too, could die.

Nene says “what do we do?” “we have to do something!” but Natsuhiko is only worried about her “Are you okay with dying?”, as if the possibility he could die too never crossed his mind.

Sakura, seems to be aware of this ‘resistance’ to death too.

She is an old spirit, that saw many things, and she seems to believe Natsuhiko when he argues he may still be around to go on a date with her even when the living, the dead, and supernaturals all cease to exist.

Minutes to Midnight is seriously and envy-inducingly good! But I just want to say that, when you said "one shot of all time", my mind immediately went to you've got your demons, and darling, they all look like me. And then I got reminded of why it's my personal favorite (other than it being plain good, ofc): the summary. A well-written fic is a well-written fic, obviously, but the perfect summary really adds to the experience. Like how it catches your eye and makes your heart race because you know that an author who can write such a summary... well. They also can and probably did write a fic that blows your clothes off and turns them inside out before sending them to the hamper. It's about the anticipation.

Ahem, so anyway. I started thinking about how few words one needs to evoke an emotional response, and I wanted to share my excitement about that.

I'mma use this as a little bit more time to gush over Minutes to Midnight just because, and then gush over you've got your demons as well because oh man. thank you for sending it my way!!

Ekko is my favorite character, but I am also a big fan of making him Worse, and I love how Minutes to Midnight does it in a way that feels so authentic. like I can extrapolate him right away from what we see in the show. and this is the only fic I can think of that really takes it to such an extreme, but again it's done so compellingly that it really feels like a Jinx version of Ekko, even if Jinx remains similarly filled with rage. there are just so many lines I love and I could list them all day but when it culminates at the end, tying together the time themes and the regret and the betrayal it's just... I love it so much

one line for fun: She’s bleeding, choking, underneath him, and he hits her, and hits her, don’t you get it, I could have done this anytime I wanted but I didn’t, I didn’t, I gave you my life and you threw it back in my face, even as she claws at him alley-cat-desperate.

Dark against light - though the light has always been Ekko. i cry She chose him long before he chose her. i cry endlessly Powder never asks Vi her favorite color, because she doesn’t know what she’d do if she didn’t say the same thing Ekko did. a never-ending stream

but man it's just so stunning. like you said, I love how few words it uses to get its story across. getting to read prose that packs that sort of punch is always so special. Powder/Jinx is just so relatable and you really feel her struggles come through. her tangle of confusion and not getting things like marriage really resonated with my ace self (and I always enjoy an ace-spec Jinx). but her crush was so precious I just wanted to hug her and let her be happy with Ekko and maybe my delusional ass can imagine that they are someday in that fic universe lol

and the way the summary gets entirely recontextualized at the end????? INCREDIBLE truly a one-shot of all time. we have to make it an indefinite article now lmao

I got super lucky because the author of "you've got your demons" wrote my gift for the secret santa we just had!! that fic is called Moonlight Refuge and let me tell you if it didn't convey every emotion I wanted, which is the "I should want nothing to do with you but I can't help myself" part of timebomb, and in this one it's mutual and just fantastic. I spent like half my comment writing AHHH because the emotions were just everywhere it was a good time

In the middle of last season I started dealing intensively with the coaches. Since then I have been constantly following this subtopic of ski jumping and dealing with both the media view and that of the associations and fans. Since summer or about a week there have been discussions about two coaches I deal more or less a lot with. On the one hand, the view of Thomas’s work and on the other hand, the upcoming internal team discussion about Alex.

And I would lie if I said that it doesn’t make me a little sad.

Even if the terms of office of both coaches represent absolute opposites in their duration, there are discernable parallels at its core regarding the current problem. With Thomas and the Polish team it is the case that after a successful season the current one is extremely mixed and fans insult him in the worst way on social media that it even goes so far that some have wished him death... I wonder: Where has the understanding of some fans gone? What right do those people take to call themselves „fans“ when they kill a person like that? What right do some people take to make sympathy dependent on success? And last but not least whether these people are following the situation of the team at all. What can Thomas do for Dawid’s situation? What can Thomas do for the fact that the boys got sick at the beginning of the season? What can Thomas do for Kamil possibly putting too much pressure on himself? And just as exciting and at the same time somewhat frightening that athletes and coaches are played against each other by fans and parts of the press, although, for example, possibilities for improvement were suggested by the athletes in interviews and were directly addressed, analysed and reflected in the next interview. After all, it is not the case that even the Polish association has criticised this. This was answered directly. And it’s not like a coach can’t be a panacea that makes all problems disappear forever. No team manages to keep the shape every season. For example, if you look at Team Germany, it becomes clear. While the last season was mixed, this year’s is going much better. Without changing the coach.

The same applies to Norway. Highs and lows were overcome together. Meanwhile thirteen years with the same coach. And suddenly he is doubted, but out of the team. Here you do not know the arguments and backgrounds or even less. But why should you simply replace a coach who has accompanied the team through a wide variety of phases for so long? Apart from the fact that Alex should hardly have earned it. Why don’t you discuss objectively and constructively in the presence of all those involved and everyone speaks respectfully? In Poland it seems to work out and I want the same for Norway. No coach who has achieved so much deserves such an unpleasant departure. If he deserves a departure at all.

The same applies to Thomas by the way. As a young coach he has already had several titles and other successes in his first season, is extremely reflected and has a clear vision of how Polish ski jumping should continue in the next few years.

Instead of directly denouncing the coaches both externally and internally in one case, insulting them and, if necessary, even playing them externally against their athletes, you should simply let them do their job and, as someone who is not a sports scientist, psychologist or other, stop tearing your mouth open and judging their work.
