Hi! I saw you wanted some barbie prompts so I had a idea.
What if Ken meets someone in the real world and he instantly found them attractive, they end up complimenting him which makes him want them even more to where he forgets the whole patriarchy ordeal and just wants them to love him because they didn’t just ignore him.
Tumblr media
💖 Meeting RG!Ken in the Real World 💖
(RG!Ken x Human!Reader)
💖 SO YOU DEFINITELY MEET THIS GUY WHILE HE’S IN DAVY CROCKETT MIDDLE SCHOOL’S LIBRARY. You’ve been working there a few months as a librarian and while it wasn’t exactly your passion it was something that filled your schedule and kept half-decent food on the kitchen table so you wouldn’t complain.
💖 “Hi! Would you point me in the direction of the Horses and Patriarchy section?” The cheerful voice made you look up from where you were hunched over at the painfully old computer- double checking that all of the due books had been checked in.
💖 “Excuse me?” You said, completely flabbergasted by both the words and looks of the man who stood opposite your desk. He was tall; with golden blonde hair and sun-kissed skin he would be strikingly handsome were it not for the ridiculous cowboy outfit he was donned in. (Who were you kidding? He was still ridiculously attractive even with the costume).
💖 “Would you point me in the direction of the Horses and Patriarchy section of this library” he repeated with another charming smile, leaning forwards to rest his chin in his hands.
💖 “That’s…” you started slowly, brows furrowed in a way that made his chest feel weird and tingly. “We don’t have a section for Horses and the Patriarchy.” You explained as gently as you could, eyeing around in hopes of finding the poor excuse for a security officer that usually took his lunch in here despite the obvious ‘no eating in the library’ signs posted around.
💖 The man’s handsome face wilted a bit and for a moment you felt a little guilty for not being able to indulge his ridiculous request. “Oh! Silly me- could you point me in the direction of the Horse Section first? I’ll go to the Patriarchy section after” He said, chipper once again.
💖 “We… don’t have a just Horses section either..” you said again, watching as the man seemed to actually wither, crumbling forwards till his head was against the cold wood of your work desk.
💖 “Do you have a Patriarchy section?” He whimpered, looking up at you from where he’d half collapsed dramatically against your desk- blue eyes glassy and filled with so so much emotion considering the circumstances.
💖 When you shook your head he nearly wailed, sinking further till he was almost entirely on the floor- fringe out of place and hat askew. You stood up to peer over your desk, looking down at the handsome man near-crying on your library floor.
💖 You glanced around, thankfully it was lunchtime for the kids so almost everyone was outside enjoying the sunny Los Angeles afternoon, leaving your room mostly empty. You gnawed on your lips nervously for a few moments before making a decision.
💖 “I can help you find some books on horses though.. and the patriarchy?” You offered, not entirely sure what you were getting yourself into as he jumped up, smiling eagerly and leaning forwards till his face was a few inches away from yours.
💖 “You’d do that for me?” He said with so much awe and amazement you’d think you offered to hang the stars for him.
💖 “…Yeah?” It was your job after all, even if this man was definitely not a student or staff member as far as you knew. Maybe he was a substitute teacher (yeah… right)
💖 But the way his whole face lit up joyfully at something as small as helping him find books made your heart give a little skip in your chest.
💖 You guide him around, pointing out a few books that were somewhat relevant (though he really only seemed interested in grabbing the ones with lots of pictures). Standing next to him you noticed he… really didn’t have a sense of personal space- the man would lean close everytime you spoke up to offer your help in locating relevant books, big baby-blue eyes staring into yours as he hung on to every word you said, nodding enthusiastically.
💖 You felt your cheeks and ears warm go warm at all the attention, occasionally stumbling on a word or two and chewing on your lip nervously between sentences- eyes darting around to anything but the absolute ray of sunshine in front of you.
💖 “Why are you doing that?” He asked innocently, leaning forwards into your space again with only the flimsy spine of Horses, by Ryan Bessin to protect you.
💖 “Doing what?” You said, trying to sound collected and professional though your gaze was still elsewhere, skimming over the names and authors. You jumped a little when you felt him reach out to gently prod at your lip, freeing it from the grasp of your teeth.
💖 “You’re chewing on your lip” he started, unconsciously mirroring the action on his own face. His blue eyes were focused so intensely on your lips and he felt that weird flutter in his chest again. What was that? A side effect of the real world?
💖 “Oh sorry I do that when I’m” you waved your hand vaguely for a moments, waiting till he finally looked away from your mouth to meet your gaze. “Nervous.”
💖 His head tilted in confusion and you were unable to look at him and not see an absolutely adorable, floppy-eared golden retriever puppy. “You’re nervous? Why?” He sounded so genuine and you swear to god he needed to stop looking at you with so much kindness and interest or you may just explode.
💖 “You’re just” you grip tight to the book, “-you’re very… handsome” (and intense) you started again, cheeks warming even more when his face seemed to light up like the Fourth of July- a huge grin splitting his face. “I think there’s another book that might interest you over here!” Frantically you change the subject, thrusting the book forwards and trying (and failing) not to notice just how solid his abs were.
💖 He followed you eagerly, still smiling at you with those weirdly perfect teeth and that shamelessly attentive expression. “Thank you so much, Barbie!”
💖 You looked over your shoulder at him, bewildered. “That’s? Not my name?” You said with a confused but genuine smile. Was it supposed to be some type of weird compliment?
💖 The man blinked, baffled for a few moments before he seemed to remember something. “Oh! Sorry! Force of habit” he laughed, looking bashful as he fingered the pages of the book he held.
💖 (And you definitely didn’t let your gaze slip to those deft, elegant looking hands. Broad and masculine but spared any callous or freckle- his tanned skin nearly perfect)
💖 “So… why exactly are you looking for books on the Patriarchy and Horses?”
💖 He blinked a few times at your question, looking down at the books in his arms as though he’d forgotten they were there for a moment. His smile brightened marginally, and he picked up one of the books at random- The Origins of Patriarchy, waving it loosely in front of your face. “Oh! So I’m learning about this super awesome thing called The Patriarchy”
💖 He almost immediately noticed the slight downward tilt of your lips- and the resulting twist in his chest was not like the fluttering sensations from earlier. No this was… icky- this feeling was unpleasant (something he didn’t actually have a lot of context for) and all he could think of was getting that look off of your face as fast as possible.
💖 “But- uh that’s beside the point!” As flippantly as possible he tosses the book over his shoulder with a bashful laugh. You winced, knowing you’d have to put that up later, but the man didn’t seem to notice; too busy looking at you with those big blue eyes and leaning against the bookshelf.
💖 “O-Okay?” You said, blinking rapidly at him as you chewed nervously on your lip again, trying not to squirm under the pure fascination in his gaze, completely unaware of the rapidly shifting priorities of the man in front of you.
💖 “Oh my name is Ken! Hey- what size rollerblades do you wear by the way?”

Revenge with a vengeance — The tragedy of Sam and Raiden’s canon relationship dynamic
Alternate title: SamuRaiden is THAT deep, actually.
Although MGR does not have as complex or well researched character lore as the main series, Samuraiden as a relationship is a lot more complex than common fandom tropes and interpretations of their relationship suggest. I don’t mind it when people make funny/meme content about these two, since MGS/R does come with its own flair of humour, it’s very exhausting for me as well as a few others I know who enjoy this ship for it to be reduced to just that — a joke. MGR being perceived as ‘goofy’ is mainly due to how poorly some of the character lines translate from Japanese to English, as well as it being more or less evident that either budget, time or both ran out over the course of development, hence the second half of the game feels rushed and underdeveloped. In fact, the great majority of MGR fans do not understand how serious, dark, hopeless and dystopian its message really is and that is saddening.
The world isn’t black and white, neither is it in MGS/R. Sam isn’t the just the villain (never has been, by the way), Raiden isn’t the just the hero (never has been either, by the way), I’d say it’s rather “depends on who you ask”. They are on opposite sides due to the circumstances of how they meet and not because they wouldn’t get along. Quite the opposite is true, in fact, if they would have met before 2016, they might have become friends based on the fact of how much they can actually relate to each other in many different aspects of their personalities, interests and experiences.
Before we get to fight Armstrong as well as during the Sam DLC (also through very subtle hints during their first fight on the train) we learn that Sam is just like Raiden and that Desperado forced him to become a shadow of who he once was, going against his own morals and values and only Raiden reminding him of who he truly was before Armstrong defeated him 2 years prior, ultimately crushing his spirit — he had no other choice, either die there as a failure or continue to live and become Desperado’s/Armstrong’s puppet [until someone would eventually defeat Armstrong and free Sam from his never ending nightmare — Did I already mention that Sam is a really fucking tragic character?]. Sam joining Armstrong’s laughter at the end of DLC is a reaction of fear, not agreement with him or enjoyment. And if there’s one thing that both MGS and MGR are really good at, it’s the accurate and very realistic portrayal of the human psyche under stressful and traumatic situations.
On the other side we can tell from Raiden’s reaction when holding Murasama after killing Sam that he, for once in the entire damn series, questions if that was the right choice he made. We know that Raiden enjoys inflicting pain and suffering onto others, he enjoys murder — but he did not feel that way when he killed Sam. It’s quite the opposite. It’s very subtle and if you’re not very observant like me, easy to miss. But the way his voice turns a bit softer, how his eyes look listless, almost sad; he regrets it. When Blade Wolf asks Raiden if that outcome was really necessary, he does not answer him, because he knows that Wolf is right, it wasn’t. And Raiden pretty much hates himself for it. To his team he confidently says that Sam isn’t a problem anymore since he killed him, but that’s not the same Raiden that he’s that moment in the badlands (which is another implication to me that Raiden doesn’t fully trust his teammates, although they are friends; he has major trust issues and the only emotions he shares with them is either anger or amusement but nothing outside of that). The way he sheathes Murasama is a way to honour him, and as far as I remember this is a ritual to honour a samurai’s defeat or death.
I believe that there has been a silent understanding between the two swordsmen that they respect each other from the very beginning, but they do not say it out loud. This is a case of “show, don’t tell” but also something I suspect has something to do with the game being written by Japanese authors, and Japanese is a high context language, meaning, very little words are needed to get the meaning across, and I think this may also translate into the words these two exchange with each other compared to how they truly feel about the other. Besides, they probably couldn’t truly speak honestly with each other in the first place because of the unfortunate conditions of how they met and were (more or less) forced to fight each other until one of them would eventually succumb to the other’s blade. Codecs and conversations were most likely recorded by their respective employers, and I highly suspect that in Sam’s case, he was even monitored 24/7 by Desperado since he never was an official member of the Winds of Destruction in the first place, and they didn’t fully trust him either.
At the very end of the game during the fight with Armstrong, Sam’s message plays, and we can hear how Sam also speaks with a different voice to Blade Wolf compared to everyone else (and technically, indirectly to Raiden but I cannot confirm or deny that Sam was aware that Raiden would ever hear this playback), it’s a note softer; Raiden learns the truth, which confirms to him that he was right about Sam after all, that they are alike, that they respect each other, and that there was more to Sam’s story than him being a part of Desperado, he doesn’t know what exactly, but he knows now for sure that Sam was not the person he originally believed he was (and lets his team still believe he thinks that way).
Would Raiden truly say Sam’s catchphrase “Let’s dance” before fighting and ultimately killing Armstrong, if he wouldn’t have been going through a gradual process between originally hating Sam to respecting and liking him but unable to ever express that to him or anyone else?
Would he ever admit to anyone what kind of emotional impact Sam had on him, besides the anger and hatred he openly expressed towards him?
Doubt so. Highly fucking doubt so.
Because sharing his true feelings is a liability to him, and Raiden learnt as a very young child that vulnerable feelings such as sadness or guilt would be used against him, so his psyche is conditioned to discard them immediately. But Sam made him feel those things in their full extent and Raiden is fully aware of that, but he would never share with anybody that he ever felt that way about Sam.
He may or may not take those feelings to his grave.
From Sam’s side, we can only guess how he truly felt about Raiden, but we can only guess by the way he hesitated to finish him off on the train during the prologue, the way he smiled at Blade Wolf before his death (which might be likely another case of a silent understanding between Sam and Wolf that the latter would share with Raiden what he knows about Sam or the playback of their conversation itself, if not both) as well as everything he says with giving Murasama to Raiden. Of course, Sam couldn’t even say out loud to Blade Wolf or Raiden that he planned to give Raiden his sword to take down Armstrong, and he had to be as vague as possible with the information that he shared with the robot dog. Not by choice, no. Most likely because he was being watched 24/7, he knew that Desperado nor Armstrong didn’t fully trust him and if they knew about his plans, they’d make sure to finish him off before Raiden had the chance to do so. Sam knew he would die, and that it would be the only way he would ever be free from Armstrong’s grasp. So he chose suicide through Raiden’s blade, and gave him his sword to finish what he could not back then.
The game’s title is REVENGEANCE — Revenge with a vengeance.
They both translate to the same thing in my native language German, but there’s a subtle yet important difference between these two nouns.
“Revenge means when you get back at your enemy who is responsible for hurting you and vengeance is the punishment inflicted or retribution exacted for an injury or wrong.”
But it was never Armstrong who hurt or wronged Raiden in the first place, and we know he’s an essentially selfish person who does not really care all that much about politics, religion or anything like that and he only fights for himself (I wrote in my essay about Raiden’s ASPD that his motivation to save these children from becoming cyborg child soldiers is a trauma response first and his rather lose and grey morality second) and the few people he cares about, so Armstrong being the one one who ordered to get N’mani killed is not the reason Raiden went after him or was that passionate about getting revenge or retribution on him either.
It was Sam who hurt him — wounded both his body and soul during the prologue — but when Raiden got his revenge, he realised that revenge is empty, that he didn’t feel better, and that he regrets killing him, then we get to the vengeance part. From the moment Raiden held Sam’s Murasama in the badlands, he felt no more hatred towards him and the emotional impact his death had on him made Sam transition from a person he hated to one of the few people Raiden truly cares about.
Armstrong may be the villain of the story, but the person who wanted revenge on him never had been Raiden. It was Sam. Always had been Sam, because it was Sam who got hurt by Armstrong, it was Sam who wanted to get revenge on Armstrong for defeating him and crushing his spirit, it was Sam who wanted to punish Armstrong for making him into a shadow of who he once was, making Sam speak about ideals he didn’t truly believe in (like, who the FUCK even thinks that Sam truly believed a single fucking word of that, because I for sure as hell can tell he never did, he either gaslit himself into believing that for 2 years until he met Raiden or only parroted whatever the fuck Armstrong wanted him to say so he would not get killed on the spot).
Revenge and vengeance are very deep feelings and actions of hatred, feelings that are too deep and complex to be associated with morality, hence why I highly doubt that the title of the game is directed at Armstrong from Raiden’s side at all. That between Raiden and Armstrong is not nearly as personal as it has been between Sam and Armstrong. Raiden eradicating Desperado and Armstrong had been about justice [for the kids being killed and their organs sold], not revenge.
"I said my sword was a tool of justice. Not used in anger. Not used for vengeance. But now… Now I'm not so sure. And besides, this isn't my sword."
But when he says this, followed by “Let’s dance”, it became deeply personal for Raiden as well. Because he could confirm that his feelings about Sam had been right, and that Sam wanted to get revenge on Armstrong.
Raiden decides to avenge him, because Sam couldn’t get revenge himself.
Although Sam never told him directly, Raiden understood him from his actions alone, those subtle hints, reading between the lines what the other truly felt and wanted the whole time, eventually passing the “torch” — his sword — to Raiden, to finish what he could not. So while Raiden’s own reasons to finish off Armstrong were (mostly) justice for the innocent lives he destroyed and planned to continue to destroy, they also became feelings of hatred and anger — Sam’s feelings towards Armstrong.
In the end — revenge with a vengeance — is what Sam could get on Armstrong only through Raiden, after Raiden enacted his onto Sam.
Now the question is — if Raiden would’ve never killed Sam, by the chance of him recognising earlier than in canon that revenge is empty and that he won’t feel better after killing him, would Sam go by his example and abandon his revenge plans on Armstrong as well? Or would they fight Armstrong together and get justice?
We unfortunately can only speculate (or write stories about it).
What we can tell from canon though, is that Raiden’s (= Sam’s) passionate feelings of hatred towards Armstrong quickly vanish the moment he finished him off, and he looks into the camera with an empty expression, covered in blood and a crushed cybernetic heart in his hand.
And I think that is exactly what he feels — empty.
Because again, he got revenge and avenged Sam, led by what Sam felt, Sam’s feelings became Raiden’s feelings during that fight with Armstrong. But once that was gone, there’s nothing left. In the case of killing Armstrong, he doesn’t feel remorse or guilt. There’s nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Because revenge is empty.
Raiden defeated his enemies — but at what cost?
By killing Sam, he realised what he had actually lost — a potential friend (or more), someone who understood him in a way that no one else did. Perhaps he thought or felt that, if he avenges Sam, making Sam’s feelings towards Armstrong into his own, he might be able to deal with that loss better, but to no avail.
Because, and I can speak from experience as a person with the same mental health issues as Raiden, that emptiness is worse than regret.
MGR’s ending also implies that Raiden abandons his family and friends to fight his own war; essentially taking the same path that Sam once took in his past, ending up in a personal war and revenge act that knows no end, making one bad choice after the next. If Raiden hasn’t already become the villain of his own story by the end of MGR, then it’s just a matter of time until he becomes that.
And the cycle of violence continues, until the story repeats itself, over and over and over and over and over.
Did I mention already that there is a myth around Murasama being a cursed sword, that will drive its user either slowly insane or make them commit suicide if it doesn’t get a regular ‘blood sacrifice’?
“I really enjoy murder, but that one, that I will regret for the rest of my life.”

Tumblr media
The rotunda is empty as Imogen and I enter. Everyone in the dining hall eating. The feeling of being alone should unsettle me given recent circumstances, but after today I feel like that’s behind us.
Usually I would feel her eyes on me, but as she approached me in the hall I had no idea. Though I had been a little distracted at the lack of Garrick, Xaden and Bodhi at dinner.
She leads me over to the edge of the rotunda, and sits on the ledge, leaning up against one of the pillars. I copy her on the opposite side. For a few moments we sit in silence, looking out over the trees and mountains. It’s beautiful under the moonlight. In the distance I occasionally see dragons flying around. I wonder if one of them will be mine come threshing.
“I’d say I’m sorry for how I’ve acted towards you and what I did today. But I’m won’t. It’s just my weird way of processing this I guess.” She finally says, still looking out over the trees. “But, I can’t assure you it won’t happen again.”
I slowly nod my head. “Thanks, I guess.”
She looks over at me as if confused by my response.
“Not going to lie I was expecting a different response out of you regarding this. Also kind of surprised Garrick isn’t attached to your hip after what I did.”
I can’t help the laugh that escapes my lips. “Yeah well I kinda ran off after he told me he had feelings for me and I haven’t seen him since.”
She narrows her eyes at me and the look she gives me is like she thinks I’m crazy. Which honestly, I definitely am.
“You ran off?” She emphasises each words.
“Yeah.” I lean my head back on the pillar and sigh. I was such an idiot. “I ran off. Like an idiot. And now he’s nowhere to be seen.”
She shakes her head and laughs at me. “Well if it’s any help, I don’t think you haven’t seen him because of what happened. With Bodhi and Xaden also both gone, and from what I could see their dragons to, I think something’s come up.”
I nod. She’s right. In the last few weeks it had become almost normal for the boys to disappear some nights without much warning. But it still felt like it had to do with me. Maybe they went out to help Garrick clear his head. But if that was the case I’m sure either Xaden or Bodhi would have come to see how I was.
“I’m sure Garrick has told you are history and why I’ve been the way I’ve been?” She finally says after a few minutes of me swimming in my own thoughts.
“Yeah, only took me weeks of asking and then snapping at him in the healers quadrant before.” I tell her, earning a laugh out of her.
“I knew I’d like you. Even if I hate how much you have Garrick wrapped around your finger, I can see why.” She says with probably one of the first genuine smiles I’ve seen on her since I’ve been here. “And honestly I did this to myself. He always said he couldn’t give me more than something casual. That his heart lay elsewhere. He never said who, just that they were part of the rebellion casualties. And then you showed up.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to cause any issues. Though was inevitable with everyone thinking I was dead for the last few years. Though I didn’t know Melgren’s plan till the night before conscription day.” I look away from her back out over the valley below us.
I catch the sad look that passes over her face as she studies me. “Don’t be sorry. You being back, as much as its annoyed me in one aspect, has been good the the guys. But can you promise me one thing?” She says as she stands.
I look over at her and nod.
”Don’t fuck it up. He deserves to be happy. And you definitely make him the happiest I’ve ever seen him.”
And with that, she turns and leaves me alone in the Rotunda with my thoughts.
Imogen’s words hang over my head. Don’t fuck it up. Easier said than done. Part of me is over joyed that Garrick shares the same feelings. Though looking back I’m an idiot for not seeing it sooner. I just put it down to us being best friends. Yes he wasn’t like that with Xaden, but I was a girl. Of course our friendship would naturally be a little different.
But part of me is also terrified. What if it goes badly? What if it puts a divide in the dynamic of our group. I couldn’t live with myself if I came between Xaden and Garrick. As much as Xaden is extremely loyal to Garrick, Xaden would pick me over him without a question. It would destroy him. But he would do it. And that’s not something I’d want him to do.
So I do the stupid thing and avoid them. Which sadly is quite easy with how little they are around. They’re in our daily battle brief class, wedged up in the back corner. I know cause I feel their eyes on me despite not turning around to see if they are there. But when it comes to challenges, their appearance is few and far between. And if they are there I do my best to blend into the crowd. As best as I can with my hair colour. Though I haven’t dyed it since arriving, and at nearly 2 months in my natural dark hair has started to shown through. Rhiannon and Violet keep telling me to let it grow out as it looks good with the dark red.
But outside of classes, I rarely see them. I get glimpses of them, but most nights they aren’t at dinner. Imogen makes comments about them being sent out for drills and such. Must be part of being a third year. Though I do notice they are gone more often than the other third years.
A few times Garrick tries to catch me after battle brief or find me at challenges, but somehow I manage to get away. I’m not quite ready to have the conversation he wants to have. But I can’t avoid it forever. A few times I nearly cave when I see the pained look in his hazel eyes. Pain I was causing. Pain I’d seen in Xaden and Bodhi’s eyes as well.
Soon our gym time turns into Gauntlet training with presentation day around the corner. So far our squad has done pretty well. Only one casualty so far. One I had to watch Violet almost be apart of. She hid it but I knew how much it killed her on the inside. She was yet to fully complete the gauntlet and today was our last day of training before presentation day tomorrow.
As we walk up the stairs to the gauntlet my heart drops. Not only is Xaden standing off to the side, Garrick is with him. It wasn’t uncommon for leadership to watch their squads do training on the gauntlet, so far neither had turned up for ours. Of course they show up on the last day.
Rhiannon who is next to me must notices something is off and follows my eyes to where Xaden and Garrick are.
“Why do you look so scared to see Xaden and Garrick?” She asks.
I hadn’t quite built the relationship with her that Violet had, but it was getting there. But I hadn’t told her about my interaction with Garrick after the challenge with Imogen.
“Remember how he took me to the healers after my fight with Imogen?” I whisper to her so the others around us don’t hear. The last thing I need is gossip spreading about this while I’m still figuring my own feelings out.
She nods. “Yeah I remember. Practically rushed over and scooped you up in his arms before you could get off the mat. Was quite romantic.” I roll my eyes at her.
Our group comes to a stop in front of the gauntlet, Xaden and Garrick making their way over with Emettiro. Both their eyes locked on mine.
I lean closer to her. “He might have confessed he’s essentially been in love with me for years and years despite me being dead and I kind of panicked and ran off and have been avoiding him ever since. Which also means avoiding my brother.”
She shakes her head and chuckles at me. “Girl I could have told you he was in love with you. No one looks at someone the way he does with out being in love.”
I go to reply but Emettiro calls us to start running the gauntlet. And I’m glad Rhiannon and I end up near the front, being one of the first ones to go. Though I doubt Xaden and Garrick are here to try talk to me, as much as they may want to. At the end of the day, they want the wing to do well.
I step up as Rhiannon takes off, my eyes meeting Garrick’s. His face is a mask and I can’t read it at all. I can tell he’s upset though. He’s never like that with me. I’m one of the few he never puts a mask up for. Xaden on the other hand is intently focused on Violet who is behind me. Before I take off up the gauntlet I offer Garrick a quick smile. For a brief second before I take off, his mask falters and his eyes soften as he gives me a tight lipped smile. The entire way up the I feel his eyes following me. He’s yet to see me climb it. And probably won’t tomorrow as most of the leadership wait up top for their squads and wings to pass the gauntlet.
I reach the top with ease. Yet again Melgren’s training had really prepared me for this. I’d barely had any issues getting up the gauntlet in the first day. And most times I caught up to or passed the person in front of me. As much as I didn’t want to think it. I was grateful for his training over the years. I turn around to look down the gauntlet to see both Garrick and briefly Xaden looking up at me. Both look happy with how easily I made it up. Xaden’s gaze drops to something below me. Violet is yet again stuck on the last parts of the gauntlet. And dare I say, does Xaden looks concerned? His eyes shift up to mine. We both know she needs to find an alternate way up the last part of the gauntlet.

all of @ep6bastogne's wips (yes i read all your tags about them in utter anticipation), @luckynumber4's burgie wip! anything @footprintsinthesxnd writes! same with @lewis-winters ALL of your wips sound so so sooooo up my street/my thing!! there are so many more but despite my plans to spend the day at home i actually have to leave the comfort of my bed and brave the cold outside, and i'm late already so i'm gonna have to stop listing, but it's very likely that i'm excited for almost every single wip any of you guys have!
28 - what's something that lives in your brain rent free and you want everyone to know about the show/the fandom/your works?
outside of hbowar??? oooh i have LOADS of things!! the thick of it!! it has such clever funny writing, the best dialogue and political satire ever, because it's just so true to life and accurate for uk politics. peter capaldi is fucking amazing in it! and you'll see a lot of uk actors that are famous for other things here. but yeah, it's just hilarious and witty and clever. love it. go watch it. ummm other than that, the korean band onewe!! please go listen to them, they are ridiculously talented and have the kindest most lovely and accepting fandom in the world. in fact, the hbo war fandom and onewe fandom are the only two fandoms i've ever felt happy and comfortable in. onewe write beautiful songs with the most gorgeous lyrics (they have a space series which is one of my all-time favourites). ALSO pride (2014) as a movie recommendation! this film is my comfort film but it tears me apart as well. some people watch it for the queerness and come away learning about welsh history too.. for others, it's the opposite. but as a welsh gay man for me both those elements are so important to who i am and my own identity, that this film is just feels so incredibly special to me. especially the character gethin who i really feel i can relate to a lot due to our circumstances. tim roth is someone who i always wanna shout about and who lives rent free in my head too. love that man so much. also the band the libertines!! because them and the strokes were my entire teenage years and i pretty much grew up with their music as my 'soundtrack'. ok i think that's enough, even though i definitely have way more to shout about. sorry i rambled!
for this ask game!

Do you think Harley ever tried to somewhat fit in with his peers in high school and ended up trying alcohol and other things? And would Tony ever find out about it and would he end up having a talk considering his own past?
you have unleashed a BEAST of conversation from me. you don’t even understand.
in most (but not all) of my takes of harley he absoLUTELY has ended up with such things in his possession, however, not for the sake of fitting it with his peers. in my most personal, beloved, and first ever rendition of him which i’ve held in my heart and mind for… almost 6 years now? he delves into alcohol, among many other substances, at first through peer pressure/force of cigarettes, and then through attempts to cope with alcohol and narcotics, which whirlwinds into addiction of those as well as heavier, more uncontrolled substances, all as a result of the snap/blip/whatever you wanna call it. in this rendition, tony is his primary saving grace and takes him in completely, spending several years helping him wane him out of it and become sober. in my most recent version of him that i have written, he delves into these things on a whim, more casually, less frequently, but still as a poor means of trying to cope with the bad cards he has been dealt in life and extreme circumstances he faces. in the less common cases, where i explore the opposite, he actually fears alcohol to a great extent because of his father’s—and also mother’s, influence. in these situations he is quite traumatized by it and avoids it entirely. however, he also falls short of addiction in other ways outside of substances without realizing it, and these addictions come in the form of careless physical intimacy, overworking himself, and in two particular fics: power/vengeance (because the reality of life is that anything can become an addiction). most of this stems, of course, because of his father, but also because of harley’s quote about his mother being at the “diner” which we can see in town is actually a bar. plus, because he is tony’s mirror image of sorts, and their dynamic duo and harley’s character almost in entirety was designed to reflect tony’s insecurities of himself and the child he once was that suffered due to his own father and life circumstances (shown in the lines “what’s his name?” and “dads leave(…)”). when you take in that information, we can infer that with these similarities, and with harley being left in the dirt of a drunkard, conservative, small-town, with little to do, that the path of his future lies in tony’s past (or, at least, that it could).
i have yet to finish most, and am reworking some, but my AO3 @ paisparker has several fics focusing on harley where this topic is explored in—i believe, all of them.

Chapter 3
| First | | Previous | | Next |
words: 2,010
As she sat on a cozy couch, reading an adventure novel she had never heard of before and drinking a warm cup of tea, Nathalie realized she got exactly what she had wished for the night before. She got to spend the entire day in this quiet and peaceful place, finally allowing herself to rest and forget about everything.
After passing out, which was funnily the only way she could get some sleep, Betterfly carried her to lay on the couch of the library while he went back to finish what he had been doing in Nathalie’s universe. At sunrise she woke up, not long before Gabriel returned and explained the situation to her. The existence of parallel worlds and portals between them was a lot to take in but Nathalie was now used to magic affecting her life in the most unexpected ways.
The most unnerving part was how similar yet so different her Gabriel and the one keeping her company here were. Apparently their decisions had been almost the same for most of their lives, but the Gabriel from this universe, which was oppressed by some mysterious entity he didn’t want to discuss, resolved by himself that he had to use his powers for the greater good after he lost his wife.
The fact that Emilie was gone here, as well, wasn’t easy to hear. It forced Nathalie once again to confront her own reality, to question the meaning of it all. Earlier that night, Gabriel’s behavior and his resolution that inflicting pain on others would be worth it in the name of love stopped being impressive for Nathalie and began seeming crazy. Now perhaps she had to go further and accept that the whole endeavor to rewrite destiny wasn’t a good idea from the start.
She was grateful that she was able to reflect on all this with a clear head, now that she didn’t have to worry about what Gabriel was doing. She did have to tell the Gabriel from this universe about her own, particularly the explanation for why she confused Betterfly with the other Gabriel Agreste. When told that the origin of Hawk Moth, who would later become Monarch, was the loss of Emilie to a magical illness, he bitterly understood the other man, aware that Monarch’s path could have been his own, too.
She didn’t talk about Mayura. Despite obviously being unable to walk, she chose to pretend she was just tired. Now this act of service she did for Gabriel seemed less heroic and more foolish and embarrassing.
Nathalie should go back to her own Gabriel eventually. Still, when Betterfly asked in the morning if he should take her back home, she replied that she wanted to stay just a little longer. It would be the first real vacation she’d have in so long, if it could be called that. Ironically, forgetting about the miraculous was only possible when she had another version of the miraculous that she could shift her focus to instead.
It was interesting to learn how Betterfly’s power worked. From his explanations and what she found in books within arms’ reach in his library, it seemed to Nathalie that the power was just the same as Hawk Moth’s, but due to their circumstances neither of them had tried to use the opposite type of emotion that they had become used to from the start, and the different names for the butterflies and the process was just a side effect of this. She was convinced they were just different old translations of the same original word in the code of the guardians.
Despite her curiosity, she made an effort to stop investigating and take advantage of the time she had. While Gabriel was out helping the Ladybug and Black Cat kids from this world as they settled into a new independent life as vigilantes, Nathalie stayed in to relax. She scanned the collection of fictional stories on the bottom shelf and settled for a space travel adventure. At least with that she had no experience.
Later Gabriel brought her a tea set when he arrived, before leaving the room again to greet his son returning home from school.
This place was calm like the eye of a hurricane. Betterfly’s world faced a more intimidating enemy, with more powerful control over the miraculous holders, and his work as the starter of what he hoped could become a revolution seemed more dangerous than the daily fight Ladybug and Cat Noir had against a random akumatized citizen. Nevertheless, when he was home he was smiling. peaceful and confident that he was doing what was best. Nathalie had never expected the Agreste mansion to feel so warm and comforting, but she feared what The Supreme, whoever that was, could do to her the moment she stepped outside if they knew who she was.
Gabriel came back and sat on the couch. Nathalie could tell he was exhausted, despite trying to appear as if he wasn’t. It was Gabriel after all, and he had the same tells. She finished the last sentences of the book in her hands, put it down, and shuffled slightly closer to him.
“How was your day?” she asked. She swallowed the “sir” at the end of the sentence that wanted to come out by habit.
“Certainly not as stressful as last night.” He thought for a moment. “I’m glad your Ladybug and Cat Noir helped my kids break free from their fear of The Supreme, but I’m still not sure how I could work together with them after being alone for so long.”
“It’s good to have help.” She smiled. “And now you can have information from the inside.”
“I do. I hope they agree to stay undercover, it would be very useful.”
“It would also be safer for them than a public rebellion that would make them a target. For you as well. In fact, it might be good not to let them in on all your secrets yet, if The Supreme is in control of the kwamis like you said.”
Gabriel nodded, then sighed. “You’re right. I hadn’t thought of that.”
He stayed in thoughtful silence for a moment. Nathalie got the teapot and poured a cup for him, which he accepted.
“I’m sorry,” he said as he put the cup down. “I didn’t want to worry you with more problems related to the miraculous.”
“It’s fine, really. I can’t begin to express how grateful I am that you let me stay here a while.”
“It’s nothing, I’m just as glad to have you here.” He placed a hand on top of hers.
Nathalie admired the way his platinum hair glowed under the sunset rays coming from the window. That in addition to his eyes that had known darkness yet persevered hopeful and the warm smile on his face made her feel at home.
“Are you hungry? I can arrange for dinner to be brought up here for us if you want.”
That made her pause. “You’re not eating with your son?”
Gabriel looked sheepishly to the floor. “I… Adrien… Well, he prefers being alone.”
“He does?”
“Emilie’s death was hard for both of us. I’ve tried to cheer him up but he just gets angry at me. I’ve found for now that it’s better to give him some… space.”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to intrude.”
“No, it’s fine. You’re just concerned for our wellbeing. You’re just like my own Nathalie, but back then I was angry, too, and I didn’t understand her good intentions.”
Every time he brought up his world’s version of Nathalie he talked about “back then.” Though he did use the present tense when talking about her, so she wasn’t dead. They must not have spoken in a while. Maybe years, because apparently something happened between them before he became a superhero.
She held his hand tighter.
Though Nathalie liked being here with Gabriel now and seeing that he had learned from his mistakes, she couldn’t help but understand her other self’s decision to leave, just like Nathalie should have left her own boss long ago. Nathalie was aware it wasn’t good for her and yet she stayed and made everything worse not just for her, but for the entire Agreste family. Apparently she was born in the universe where everyone was a little more stupid.
“I see things more clearly now,” Gabriel continued. “You’re— I mean—, she is the most loyal person I’ve ever met, it was only under the extreme stress I must have put her through that she was forced to go away. Before that she was always there for me. She always knew what to say to make things easier. I never appreciated her as much as she deserved. Then she left,” his voice cracked. “And now you’re here I just… I missed you.”
This admission of Gabriel’s feelings towards her caused Nathalie’s heartbeat to cease for a moment.
“Gabriel, I…”
She wanted to reply in some way but she couldn’t find the words. He had said something she had always dreamed of hearing but never expected the man to utter.
“I don’t know what happened in this Paris but… I’ll always be there for you, because I want to. You have also given me so much. Thanks to you I have learned so much, I’ve traveled the world, and I’m— I was part of a lovely family, something I had never really had. You showed me what true love was.”
Gabriel blinked in surprise and Nathalie had to stop herself to rewind her words, as they had been pouring out of her mouth without her thinking any of them through.
“Did— Did you…?”
Nathalie finally caught up and felt a red blush spread across her face. “No! I mean— I meant you and Emilie. You both, uh, inspired me.”
“Oh.” Now he was blushing, too.
Nathalie bit her lip to force herself to stay quiet.
After an excruciating minute of avoiding eye contact and hoping the house would start crumbling again, she was forced to look up when Gabriel spoke up.
“You… look just as beautiful as I remember.”
She noticed his hand never left hers. “You look well, too. Happiness suits you.”
Gabriel lifted a hand towards his chest, touching just below where Nathalie knew the brooch was hidden. “Hey... Since we’re both here now. May I try something? I probably won’t get a chance like this ever again so, just once, to satisfy this… curiosity. I— I can tell you feel the same.”
“What do you mean?” She was beginning to get the unspoken idea before even finishing the question, when she noticed Gabriel leaning in closer.
“May I?” he asked when his face was just millimeters apart from hers.
Nathalie nodded.
He pressed his lips to hers gently, as if he was worried he would break her with even a little force. It lasted a second and then he began pulling away, but Nathalie chased after him. She wouldn’t ever get a chance like this again either, she couldn’t waste it. Luckily he reciprocated her effort.
Gabriel’s skin was as soft as she expected. She had felt his hands before for fleeting moments but it couldn’t compare to cradling his face and keeping the warmth from his mouth close to her.
She sighed, feeling a weight lift from her shoulders as she allowed herself to love him outwardly. She felt him use that short moment to smile, before pulling her back in.
Nathalie never thought she would kiss Gabriel Agreste and if she ever did she thought it would be an awkward experience, with Gabriel showing the same apprehension he did whenever they got too close, and Nathalie worrying about what the world would think.
Now, however, there was no need for reservation. No impact to worry about in either of their worlds, because no one had to know that they had met or what they were doing, and Gabriel was more than eager to focus on her and nothing else. They were free.

hello, i'd like a matchup for my oc Dory (cis fem, she/her)! she's an INFP and, sadly, while in high school, she's not having a very good time, as she's being bullied for being weird. as a result, she keeps to herself, only speaks if spoken to and doesn't really have any friends. it takes a while for her to warm up to someone, but once she does, she lets herself be weird freely (she's a lot more talkative and energetic around someone she's comfortable with)
she really likes the deep sea and its creepy critters, animals in general and as she's an aspiring animator, she vibrates with excitement whenever she sees cool animations (and will info dump/fangirl/talk someone's ear off if given permission)
she dislikes being the center of attention, people who are mean just to be mean and mint
she is an artist (digital and painting), likes to listen to really really loud music and while she's not very sporty, she does enjoy watching her school's baskeball matches (she's a Seirin second year)
as for preferences, anyone from GoM (minus Midorima) + Himuro + Kagami + Momoi + Riko
sorry for how long this got, i got over-excited
Tumblr media
Type of Romance
Admirers to Lovers
How You Two Met
As the coach of the Seirin basketball team, Riko was often very aware of who was in the gymnasium at any given time. She'd seen Dory more than a handful of times, both in the gymnasium during practices and in the classroom during school hours. Since Dory was often by herself with headphones on (where loud music could always be heard), Riko had just assumed that she preferred to be alone.
It wasn't until, one day when leaving for the gymnasium earlier than she was supposed to, Riko ran into Dory having a little trouble with some bullies that she really started to pay attention. It sort of clicked that this classmate of hers who was always alone wasn't doing it on purpose, but rather was forced to be that way due to her circumstances.
Having a strong sense of justice herself, Riko couldn't leave Dory well enough alone.
Tumblr media
The bullies screamed as mucky water was dumped onto them, running away from the scene before anything else other than their uniforms could be damaged. When Dory looked up from her position on the floor, glancing toward the opposite side of the hall, she noticed Riko standing there with an empty mop bucket in hand, her own glare fixated on the space where the bullies had once occupied.
That angered expression softened when she turned her gaze toward Dory. Setting the bucket down, she reached a hand out to help the other girl up. "Are you okay? I think they should be gone at least for a while. Did you want to get a teacher?"
After helping her up and being assured that Dory wasn't as hurt as she'd originally assumed, Riko gave a sigh of relief. Still, she didn't feel comfortable leaving the other girl alone. "You know, I see you at practice sometimes. If you want, we could walk together from now on."
How She Fell For You
From that day forward, Riko would always try to hang out with Dory whenever possible. At first it was almost like a sense of obligation, wanting to see her classmate safe, but after a while it became more to Riko. She genuinely enjoyed spending time with Dory, learning about her interests and info dumping to her about her own.
Riko was always talking about Dory to her other friends and classmates, hyping up her art projects and praising the animation work she would show her. It came to the point that a lot of the boys on the basketball team often teased that Dory was the only person Riko talked about nowadays.
In fact, you could say that the guys realized Riko's feelings for Dory faster than she did.
Tumblr media
"What? No, no, no, no! No way!" Riko tried to protest, but the way her cheeks seemed to heat up, flooding her entire face with an embarrassed red, said otherwise. "I don't have a crush! I don't get crushes!"
But the more she thought about it, the more Riko couldn't deny that she often felt so giddy at the thought of another day spent with Dory. The long hours of texting back and forth was something she looked forward to. Finding her in class and getting to see what new projects she was working on was one of the highlights of Riko's day.
It soon became undeniable fact to her: she liked Dory.
What a Relationship with Her is Like
A relationship between Riko and Dory is a little awkward at first, simply because Riko had never imagined herself falling for another girl. She may have tried overdoing things at first, being overly sweet, acting overly chivalrous, being too over the top. It takes her a while to realize that just being herself was the best thing for the relationship.
Unfortunately, Dory is subjected to a lot of Riko's cooking attempts. Riko's love language is acts of service, so she often tries to make treats and snacks for the two of them to share (to which they also often share stomach aches afterwards).
And despite their relationship starting with Riko acting as some kind of savior toward Dory, she never holds that over her girlfriend's head. Instead, she always encourages Dory to be stronger and stand up for herself, hoping one day a little bit of her own confidence would shine through.
Tumblr media
"And if they try to bother you again, you can just wham!" Riko exclaims, swinging the clipboard she was holding much like a weapon as she swung it through the air. The action had Dory laughing, watching as Riko over exaggerated her self defense lesson. "Okay, come on, it's your turn to try."
Riko watched as Dory mimicked her actions, swinging her sketchbook with a little less force than Riko had done.
"No, no, with more umph, like this." Riko walked over to Dory's side, placing her hands over her girlfriend's. She guided her in swinging the book with enough follow through to hurt a person. Then, realizing how close they were, Riko blushed red. "O-okay, now try again."

Azzy's Storyshift Concept (i go by azayzel sometimes im not asriel)
Spooky - A strangely sinister flower that acts quite hollow, and emotionless. Tells it to you straight that they're here to kill the shit out of you.
Papyrus - The guardian of the "TEMPLE OF MYSTICAL MAGIC"(dubbed by papyrus), which is open for all monsters to come and go from. He's hilariously good at his job to a point of it making little sense- But no human has died on his watch!
Alphys - A meek, cowardly dino, who's a science enthusiast. Perhaps she's running from something, but it's hard to even be in the same room as her without her bolting in the opposite direction.
Chara - A human with a low tone, a dark sense of humor, and doesn't seem to care for much outside of their brother. They have very little regard for pronouns that are used on them--(they're THAT kind of nonbinary) They dress either androgynous, masculine, or feminine on different days and circumstances, literally not giving a shit. At first, they hate Frisk, due to being human-- Despising them for association with Chara's past abuse, but slowly, they'll grow more fond of Frisk like a younger sibling, culminating at the judgement hall scene where Chara outrigtht thanks Frisk for restoring their faith in humanity.
Asriel - An insanely goofy teenage boy who is often the only reason Chara laughs earlier in the story. It's obvious Chara has little enjoyment of most things, so Asriel making sure that they're having a good day has been overall a positive thing for them. He's enthused by the various puzzles where he lives-- "SHOOTING STAR SEA" --Though he wants to solve them, rather than make them-- As he's looking for a hidden treasure.
Toriel - The reigning Queen of Monsters, as well as CARETAKER OF THE WILD CANYON, she patrols the canyon itself, looking for any human that may find themselves where they shouldn't be-- And make sure they're safe.
Asgore - The illustrious KING of monsters resides, in the center of the Underground, here to guide his people. Both him, and Toriel guide you through the Crystal Valley, it's very clear Asgore is a fatherly individual, making sure Frisk is safe at every turn. He even makes the suggestion that Frisk can stay with him and Toriel, get along with their Son and Indiscernible Gendered Child. He also is into FLOWER SCIENCE for FUNZIES. Undyne - Guarding the LIGHT CITY, the final area of the UNDERGROUND, is the famous, beloved SUPERHERO, UNDYNE THE UNDYING. A woman who can never be beaten, a woman stronger than all of the underground. The greatest challenge Frisk will face on their journey, provided they don't kill anyone. She can be easily spared if you show that you have a strong sense of justice, as well as kindness, however.
Sans - The boss of the LIGHT CITY SUMMIT CASINO, the final area of the story. He's a very lazy boss, always on break, and his design isn't very different-- He just has a bowtie. While in a no mercy route, he'll be true hell for anyone facing him, in pacifist, he'll pretty much be your best friend throughout the entire game-- He even shows up in the TEMPLE OF MYSTICAL MAGIC. Chara is actually somewhat fond of him, like a strange uncle. His effortless presence in the underground might as well make HIM the leader, rather than the science king.
Napstablook - A forsaken human that became "Spooky" due to Alphys's experiments long ago. This is why she hides in shame. Turns out, when a ghost, or soul possesses a biosynthetic body they go completely insane--- The story has you free them from the synthetic prison, where eventually they apologize for their behavior and Alphys apologizes to them.
this is very early and copy pasted from discord messages i just wanted to share (almost everything subject to change)

could i please get an analysis for a prince of doom?? i love your analyses so much!! i hope you have a nice day/night.
Prince of Doom, huh? You got it!
Note, as I recently analyzed a Prince of Life and want to address this: Classpect Assignments will have "summary" versions of the full analysis of a class or aspect, while requests to analyze a Classpect without assignment will have the "full" analysis.
Analysis below the cut.
A Prince of Doom is an interesting Classpect. They're almost like a Life player, in ways. We'll get to that, but...let's start with Prince.
Prince
Princes are an active destroyer class. They destroy their aspect, or destroy by using their aspect. They are often plagued by their aspect in some way, and struggle with it immensely. This is shown with Eridan, who was obsessed with science and, despite his immense hope that there might be more to the world, couldn't let go of his obsession well enough to fully utilize his powers, as well as being shown with Dirk who had such a struggle with his self, his identity, that he splintered himself several times over and invented individuals to treat as family just so he wouldn't have to be with himself so much.
Princes also often put in a mask, they pretend to be something they aren't, often the opposite of their true self. Eridan, as hopeful and as gullible as he was, put on an air of science and fact and cold logic, pretending to be far smarter, far more mechanical in mind than he was. Dirk pretended to be aloof and uncaring, feeling it better to put on a mask of "whatever" rather than reveal how deeply he cared about those around him.
And lastly, Princes seem to have a critical misunderstanding of their Aspect's importance to themselves. Eridan completely disregarded Hope and it's concepts as important, and even outright destroyed the (at the time) one chance his species had to thrive, showing a complete misunderstanding of the importance of hope, both to others and to himself. Dirk was more than willing to die as many times as needed for his loved ones, even if that death was pointless, as he couldn't care less about himself, his soul, his Heart.
Altogether, this makes Princes inherently self-sacrificial, though what they sacrifice is dependent entirely on Aspect: Eridan was very selfish and focused solely on his survival and empowerment, thereby sacrificing his own chance at redemption and sacrificing his own hopes of ever having what he dreamed of, while Dirk was ready and, almost, eager to die for those around him, sacrificing himself and his own identity multiple times for others.
It also makes them very powerful, as they fully recognize the potential they bear, they simply see more of it in others, and feel it's wasted on them in some way or another.
Doom
Doom is the aspect of rules, fate, suffering, and death. Doom individuals are often plagued by some amount of pain or misery in their lives. They are sympathetic to suffering of all kinds, though whether this presents as a gentle and patient understanding or a rough and cold "yeah, and? Get over it" attitude is dependent on the individual's reaction to their own circumstances. They have a natural aptitude for "the rules" of a given situation, making them skilled with the laws of the world and the universe, though more to a metaphorical sense than a literal sense.
Doom players, due to their sympathetic nature, are often "bleeding hearts" in some way or another, either bleeding their own woes and frustrations with the way things are, or bleeding on behalf of those around them. This can make them either very difficult to deal with, as they spend more time complaining than much else, or overly sensitive, as they feel the woes of others much more powerfully than most.
This doesn't mean it's all there is to them, however. Their innate sense of rules and the like also mean they are likely to enjoy things like games or work, things that have set guides or methods. Anything with set boundaries, limits, and systems will be their source of comfort.
This makes Doom players more effective strategists, be it in the moment or with time to plan, because they're able to see the world as a system, as rules and limitations, and are able to "play" by those rules quite effectively.
Prince of Doom
A Prince of Doom is one who destroys Doom, or destroys by using Doom. This means they destroy rules, fate, suffering, and death, or destroy by using rules, fate, suffering, and death.
They would have an innate sense of how things should work, and a VERY strong belief in order and rules, though whether that belief is in favor of them or against them would be case-by-case, as they would have a strong personal sense of what is good or bad, right or wrong, and when the objective did not align with the subjective, they would likely default to the subjective they believe in.
The interesting thing about a Prince of Doom is that their abilities align quite well with both the positive aspects of Life and the negative aspects of Doom, and as a Prince they are able to reap the benefits of both.
A Prince of Doom may "destroy" rules, or the system of limitations by which something abides, by finding ways around that system that allow them to freely do things otherwise intended to be impossible, or at least impossible without heavy consequence.
They may also "destroy" fate by changing the circumstances that would have led to that outcome, thereby CHANGING that outcome, changing fate, making them ALSO dip their toes into the same water as Time players.
They may "destroy" suffering through their empathy and compassion, showing support and companionship to those in need and helping them feel better long-term.
And they may "destroy" death by saving lives, either through healing or removing/alleviating the circumstances that would cause death in the first place.
On the other side of things, destroying by using those concepts...
A Prince of Doom may destroy using rules by enforcing them, by pushing them on those susceptible, or by making others susceptible to those rules, causing the efforts or attempts by those individuals to fail or, in some cases, never happen to begin with.
They may "destroy" with fate by ensuring that circumstances come into play just right so that the order of events has only one single possible outcome, destroying any chance of something beyond that outcome.
They may "destroy" with suffering by causing such a great amount of it that it becomes all that is left, their target(s) devoid of Hope, Life, Light, or any other aspect or concept besides Doom and suffering.
And they may "destroy" with death by outright killing their target(s).
A Prince of Doom is...quite interesting. They would likely come off as aloof or cold, or perhaps overly caring or exceedingly attentive. Whatever their outward personality, you can bet they're thinking the opposite, or at least something opposing to their act.
This doesn't mean they aren't genuine in their actions, however. While you'd be hard-pressed to take a Prince of Doom's words at face value, you could without worry trust their actions fully.
If a Prince of Doom is supportive and attentive in word, you can surely bet they don't actually care about the details, but their actions will undoubtedly wind up helping you find your footing nonetheless. They are also likely to be stagehand-type individuals, working outside of the limelight to achieve their goals, and actively presenting a persona that seems ill-equipped to do that to avoid suspicion over their efforts.
Overall, a Prince of Doom is a caring, considerate, and deeply emotional individual...And you will NEVER know it by their words. They may seem highly attentive when in truth they couldn't care less about the details and only want the gist of it, or they may seem aloof and cold when in reality they're hanging off your every word.
But you can trust their actions to be for the better. They will always use their skills and abilities to better the lives of those they feel deserve it, whether that is their friends, family, or simply unfortunate strangers they meet on the way.
Good examples of Princes of Doom are: Charles Lee Ray (Childs Play series) and Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z)

Ik it's been a bit, but I swear on the Bachelor Man Bible, I have good reason. I am sick.
Anyways Uranium Suite/Tragic Fact choreo analysis! (Ps, I am slightly biased, I used this choreo for a movement project in my Advanced Actor's Studio class.)
First of all, Constance with that speed talking off a note card? Literally amazing and hilarious, and very realistic. I love it!
The choir snapping! Very funny, very cool. Especially bc people don't start at the same time, so it's even more realistic! Also, the realistic choir movements! Just the snapping and more rhythmic movements in the 2013 production is (imo) even more realistic than the more show choir movement of Fall Fair Suite.
Mischa sounds literally so uninterested, and I love him for that. Also A MARCHING BAND? I'm in marching band, and oh Jesus Christ on a bike, what are they doing with their hands? /lh
It's not actually a big deal, I'm just a huge marching band nerd, only a little less than I am a theater nerd, so I'm very picky. But also, there's no way that marching band sounds good. Uranium City is literally tiny, literally nothing, and they go on to complain about it! Like NO! That marching band would be microscopic. Nothing, nada. They could possibly sound good, but they'd be running on the bare minimum there.
I love the reaching out towards the side of the choir! Probably implying that Jane has a solo, and is performing with them, despite not being on stage atm. Which makes you question even more, how was she not identified? But yk, theory for another day.
I love the choir snapping out of their reach-out, bc it looks like this intense moment of realization. Like, they look so confused! It's really cool, how much emotion every single member is expressing. Also it should be noted, I love Karnak in this show, he's a funky little man with a long ass beard, and I adore him.
I love them looking at each other at the synchronized beat! Even if Noel is being left out :(
Then, every member of the choir (even if you can only see Ocean clearly) just staring out into the audience as they sing about their town going down the drain, essentially. The stillness of the actors works so well for this. You feel like it's a single moment in time that you're observing in slow motion! (Ps, this is basically where I started my movement piece, and my class literally rambled to me afterwards about how amazing the stillness hit at the beginning)
"We will never leave this town at ALL" and then the group head turn to the slow, intercrossing walk, and the hit of suddenly being stuck in that position! Literally amazing, and I love it. Mischa fr just be standing there like "yep, am stronk"
"Our folks, it seems, were too entwined, stubborn, wouldn't change their mind. Hoping bust might turn right back to boom" I love how Ocean, Mischa, and Ricky, the three people possibly most isolated from the town, due to extremely different circumstances, are the three facing the audience. Noel and Constance are staring directly at Ocean, and that's just so cool, bc they're the two who are on opposite sides of each other. Constance, Ocean's bff, and Noel, Ocean's enemy, are the two looking at her, in at least some display of concern. I think it's neat, lol.
"Crossed their fingers, prayed for luck, bowed down to this mighty buck, waiting in this godforsaken tomb" just the pure anxiety on every single members face! Really shows how they must've felt in their final moments. Constance shows the least amount of worry, but that makes a lot of sense, because of Sugar Cloud. I also love how the entire choir stops their movement at tomb. You can also hear a slight clicking in the background, which almost sounds like the track of a rollercoaster, bringing the train up to the top of a drop! I think that's also very neat.
LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE MEMBER'S MOVEMENT DURING "empty people, empty mind. Living like they're killing time, a dead-end town against a dead-end wall" IT'S SO AWESOME!!! I LOVE ALL OF THEIR MOVEMENTS, AND HOW IT REPRESENTS THEIR CHARACTERS.
Also, combining that with the very mechanical movement of "There's nothing cute and nothing sweet, this town has only one main street, let me face my boredom at the mall" which, unlike a lot of things in this musical, where I compare their mechanic movements to the rollercoaster, this is one where I don't. The choir walking here, imo, shows how repetitive life was in Uranium City. How everything felt meshed together, and that you were living the same day over and over and over again. Their next move of reaching out, and then going around in a circle continues to represent that! As well as the loop in the coaster, but that's just a constant theme in this show, lol.
Also, then Ocean leading the choir for "so what do we do to fill our day" "make plans for the getaway!" Is so important. Because literally at least 2 other people (Noel and Mischa, unless their characters changed very very drastically, since I haven't been able to find a full show of this production yet) are longing to get out of Uranium! Also Ricky, reaching for the stars as a getaway? I love that character bit.
Then the choir just complaining and lamenting about how boring, and repeating Uranium City is! How the most fun thing is the choir, and then dying (represented by "build yourself a funeral pyre, so many stimulating things to do") LIKE THAT'S IT and the movement represents that with the precision, and the quickness between movements. That's it. You're born, you sing (and maybe play bingo), you work, and then you die. That's life in Uranium City Saskatchewan Canada, so everyone wants to get out. They don't want that, even if that's exactly what they got in the end.
EVERYONE WORKS AT THE MALL! Literally everyone moves back to the coaster position using a movement that represents a job at the mall. Like, omfg. THAT'S IT. There's nothing else to do. And they continue to represent that unpassing of time with the movement. I adore it. (Off topic, I'm so tempted to make my senior quote "How can I describe my hate? It's one year till I graduate" but I probably won't)
THEM GETTING FLUNG OFF THE ROLLERCOASTER AS IT CRASHES? OMG I LOVE IT SO SO SO MUCH, YOU HAVE NO IDEA
Anyways, that's all! Hope you enjoyed :)

I've been sitting on this for a few days, I don't know if it's gonna be touched on in Recollections at all (and if it's not an aspect you care to examine that's totally cool) but I've been wondering, how long do you think it actually took Jasper and Alice to become physically/romantically intimate? I wonder this about all the Cullen couples, but Alice and Jasper especially.
Thanks for the question! You're right, it is a very interesting subject, especially when you take the individual characters' histories and past traumas into account.
The subject is definitely going to be adressed in Recollections (actually, it has already been adressed on FF.net and AO3. There are 3 more chapters out that I haven't posted to tumblr yet, because I created my account after I released them and didn't want to spam on here. But they'll be up here in a few days). So be warned, this is going to contain minor spoilers for chapter 9 - May 04, 1949 - Lake Minchumina, AK of Recollections. Edit: Chapter 9 is out now, you can read it here .
In my headcanon, there are approximately six months (179 days) between Alice and Jasper's meeting and their first kiss, and 8 more days between the kiss and their first time. I think that due to the circumstances at the time, it makes sense for there to be a longer period between "diner day" and the first kiss. Jasper was mentally in no state to consider something more than just a comfortable companionship for at least a few months. And Alice, seeing the future, was aware that pushing him would not help things along. Plus, she was too scared to make the first move since she was entirely unexperienced while Jasper had experiences in the past. However, I do think that after that initial hurdle was conquered, things went rather quickly for the two. Jasper struggled with the remainders of his human morality for a few days, before overcoming them and embracing his relationship with Alice fully (for the exact circumstances, I refer you to chapter 9 which I will post later tonight).
As for the other Cullens: We all know the timeline for Edward and Bella. She arrived in Forks in January of 2005, they were subsequently married and went on their honey moon in August of 2006. So it was a bit more than 1.5 years for them.
Emmett and Rosalie are the exact opposite of Alice and Jasper in my head. I think their first kiss happened pretty quickly after Emmett's transformation, because Rosalie was already enamoured with him and it's canon that Emmett fell for her almost instantly as well. However, due to Rosalie's past trauma, I think it took a good while for them to build trust before they were physically intimate. Trust, and a a lot of patience from Emmett's side. I also hedcanon that, because what happened to her was done by her fiance before her wedding, it was well after their wedding that Rosalie and Emmett were fully intimate for the first time. This also lines up with my second headcanon that has them waiting for Emmett's newborn strength to fade, since he was scared to accidentally hurt her. The Illustrated Guide states that Emmett was turned in 1935 and they were married in '35 as well. Therefore, I would headcanon that their first time occured somewhen in early '36, approximately one year after Emmetts transformation.
Esme and Carlisle were all traditional about it; their first time occured on their wedding night (which according to the guide was "soon after Esme's transformation" and still in 1921). However, since Esme also had her share of baggage to work through from her previous abusive marriage, and Carlisle had to warm up to the idea of being a husband after over 150 years of this not being a possibility, I headcanon that it was about 3-4 months between Esme's transformation and their wedding. Not longer, because Carlisle's oldfashioned values were cringing at the fact that they lived together under one roof without being married every time he thought about her.

Tell me about your everybody loves hobbit au please!
OKAY HERE I GO this got long so I put it under a cut lol
So in this AU, everyone survives due to either a slightly better circumstance or luck… Fíli receives a broken leg and some trauma, Kíli gets a cool scar and almost choked to death (but lives!), and Thorin gets some broken ribs and lots of wounds but makes it. I don’t really go into huge detail, what’s important is they’re ALIVE and they get to be happy.
18 years after Erebor is reclaimed, a childhood friend of Fíli’s and Kíli’s, Nála, finally comes to live there with them—about 17 years after her brother Flán makes the same trip (he was in the first group to arrive, he and Gimli escorting Dís). When she arrives, Fíli has a sudden realization that she’s not just his friend—he’s in love with her.
Unsure what to do about this because he can’t ruin this friendship, he suffers in silence for YEARS until finally learning that Nála has been pining after HIM basically her entire life. In fact, that’s the reason she took so long to come to Erebor; as Tolkien says in the Appendices, "...not all the women take husbands; some desire none; some desire one they cannot get, and so will have no other." And Nála falls into that last category. Only by the begging of her brother Flán for many years was she convinced to live somewhere she would always see one she could not get. But they finally figure it out and then they can't keep their hands off each other for the rest of forever lmao.
Kíli, on the other hand, meets his bride, Elís, through the unfortunate circumstance (that I've written about in The Shadow of Suspicion!) of a suspected attempt on Fíli's life. She is a very skilled nurse and medic from the Iron Hills, but gets off on the wrong foot with Kíli trying to help, and that starts a bit of bad blood between them. Elís decides to move to Erebor anyway, and apprentices with Óin. The two of them are constantly annoying each other because they are both headstrong and stubborn, which prevents them from seeing the fact that very often they actually agree. (They secretly respect each other immensely, but since they're both so STUBBORN, they can't admit it...)
And then (this part is not peer-reviewed) Kíli has a serious accident and Elís is there to keep him alive. She takes care of him VERY ANGRILY because she refuses to admit to herself that she loves him but oh she does. And Kíli, being a bit out of it, doesn't admit anything, but he's certainly more flirty than usual... and so eventually they get in an argument and it all comes out between them, and then it takes them a while after that to get over being stubborn about that, and then they become a couple and Kíli worships the ground she walks on.
NOW THE KIDS. There are five total.
Fíli and Nála have:
Firin. The eldest, responsible, studious, and bit of a stick in the mud, if you ask his sister and his cousins. Bright red hair like his mother and blue eyes like his da. Precious and sensitive. He's prone to being anxious and self-doubting, as he had a lot of infections as a child that left him mostly deaf. As all Dwarves know sign language, it doesn't really cause many problems in daily life, but he worries that he will never be a mighty warrior like the people he idolizes as he cannot hear.
Ríal. Strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. Personality-wise, probably the exact opposite of her brother. Bold, brash, and definitely spoiled rotten... a quintessential daddy's girl. But she's also extremely smart and can run circles around almost anyone else when it comes to wits. Firin is EXTREMELY protective of her, which she pretends is annoying, but she feels safe when he's around - which usually manifests in her being even more brash :)
Kíli and Elís have:
Nali and Lani - the twins! Dark brown hair and eyes. No one is more shocked than Kíli when he finds out he's got not just one son, but TWO. They are carbon copies of their father in so many ways and OH does that bring Dís some delightful schadenfreude. Pranksters who are always getting in trouble. Lani is the "starter" and Nali is the "finisher" - or the ideas guy and the plans guy. The two are inseparable and, for most people, indistinguishable. They're very "only we're allowed to make fun of our cousin" about Firin, though... they'll poke at him all day long, but if anyone else does it, WATCH OUT. Firin often tries to stand on his own two feet, and these two can't comprehend why, because they will ALWAYS have his back.
Filís is the baby of the entire family. Named after Fíli (which makes Fíli cry), she's a quiet little doe-eyed thing (also brown hair and brown eyes) that would rather sit and watch than talk. She always seems perfectly content and never gets into trouble - a welcome respite to her weary parents. She is often overlooked, but she doesn't mind at all, because secretly, she is pretty devious; if one of her brothers or cousins does something she disapproves of, she has so much dirt on them that they'll do anything she says, and they'll never cross her. Hilariously, Bilbo never can believe what other people say about her, because when she's with him, they can talk ALL DAY.
There's sooo much more but that's the ... basics??? This is pretty long to be the basics but THANK YOU for the ask I had a lot of fun typing this up!!!

This is so random but omg there's just. Something about when Issac came out to Hetty and feeling like he's been lying and deceiving her and Hetty having been lying and deceiving Alberta about her murder. The parallels.
Full thoughts under the cut (mainly due to major spoilers for your convenience and it looks better)
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
There's a LOT to unpack here. Keep in mind, I'm also talking about my thoughts on this, so take this with a grain of salt.
I think that, while both scenarios are very similar, they're completely opposites in their own way.
Isaac's coming out scene was entirely on his own grounds and to someone he's been friends with for almost 2 whole centuries.
Hetty telling Alberta about her true killer, although genuine, felt like it was forced. Keep in mind, these two have only been friends for not quite a century.
To me (and an irl friend I talked to about their thoughts on this-), Hetty wants to keep some form of peace between the other ghosts. Isaac didn't want to be seen as a different person and wanted to share his genuine feelings with someone.
If Hetty had told Alberta earlier in the show (hypothetically, in season 1 before Isaac came out-), then Isaac might have felt more inclined to actually come out under different circumstances than what happened in S1E15.
Anyways, while I can see the parallels for those scenarios, there are a lot of different circumstances that led up to them. Take my thoughts how you wish, but that's what I think about this.
tldr; While the two scenes seem to be parallels, they're majorly different. Hetty and Isaac have different motives for their respective scenario (ie, coming out and sharing the truth behind Alberta's killer).
(I don't have any intention to degrade this btw, this is just my thoughts on this perspective- /gen)

"A Girl Called Samson" by Amy Harmon
"A Girl Called Samson" is about a girl... named Deborah Samson who wants more out of life than what has been set before her.
Deborah has lived basically all of her life as an indentured servant due to her mother's inability to take care of her and her siblings after their father walked out on them. Deborah's indentured service to her latest family led her to resent womanhood and the limitations it rendered in 18th century America.
These limitations led Deborah to test the chains that held her back from fulfilling her self-proclaimed life's purpose of serving in the Revolutionary Army. And we know, from deductive reasoning and the book's description, that she successfully broke those chains, defied her womanhood, and fought for her young country's independence. Along the way, Deborah experienced extreme loss, love, and acceptance.
"A Girl Called Samson" ultimately disappointed me. I love Amy Harmon and her stories. I love the way she writes about love and hope and courage. This book fell short of my expectations, which were admittedly pretty high. Deborah Samson rejected her womanhood. She was naïve and immature. She was almost totally without feeling, which is the exact opposite of the type of characters Harmon traditionally writes. She fell in love, but even that seemed more like a business transaction than it did a heartfelt desire.
Overall, I would summarize this book as bland. There were some exciting and devastating moments as I read through it, but it wasn't enough to make me love Deborah or her story. In fact, I really didn't like Deborah. She was entirely too dispassionate for someone who had the courage to defy herself and her life's circumstances, dress up like a boy, and fight for a country she claimed to love. I was severely unimpressed with her, and I was fully expecting to fall in love with her. And maybe that made it worse - that my expectations were so high. But Amy Harmon has effectively set such a high standard that I just knew this book was going to be stellar. When it wasn't, it made the sting of disappointment that much worse, I guess.
I still love Amy Harmon. I am still going to be excited for her future works. I still treasure her stories, just not this one so much.
If you're venturing to read this book, I'd say go for it, if you want. If you do end up disappointed however, don't swear off Amy Harmon's books for good. She has a massive arsenal of works that will make your head spin and heart stop.

I like hearing u guys'thoughts so
Havoc, whats the reasoning behind the firebrand songs u just handed us?
EEEEE IM SO EXCITED YOU ASKED ANON!! This is gonna be a bit long. I can do this with legit almost any Slenderverse protag. -Mod Havoc
1. Hell's Comin' With Me by Poor Man's Poison just reads to me like a Firebrand song. The song starts with a man who was kicked from a village due to their leader, (with this song likely a rich corp) he's been beaten and bloody and he swears that he's going to come back and burn down the village.
It's not a threat it's a fucking promise that they won't get away with what their doing. The drifter does in fact come back and he burns down the village for their mistreatment of him and others. Like how Firebrand talks about defeating slenderman for everyone and himself.
Theres a line specifically that goes, I am the righteous hand of God. And I'm the devil that your forgot. It just sounds like something he'd say when he finally get that upper hand he needs.
2. & by Tally Hall. This song is in its purest form about opposites. It lists opposites through the entire song, and I think it's a Firebrand song because I think he would like the song in general. There's also this underlying plot of the song about taking the black and white and resting in the middle of it and I think that just fits him.
The line in this song that goes, Came back again to make it clear that he never said it would meet demand. Shame on a martyr claiming friends from either perspective of & This just fits him to me.
The way the song talks about opposites is very much the way he would talk to Noah about things. Confusing and cryptic.
3. Laplace's Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!) by Will Wood is another song about black and white and good and evil. Its about how Will Woods made bad choices, but the bad things he did were due to the circumstances he was put into. He made those choices because he felt there was no other choice to make. So could he be considered evil for the bad choices he made if he made them out of circumstance.
The line, Could you take a look at me? Am I bad, am I bad, am I bad, am I really that bad? Now we're singin' ooooh Whatever you think of me If you were in my shoes You'd walk the same damn mile I do (Oh, oh right) is part of the reason I see this as a Firebrand song. Its sort of like he's explaining to someone what he's done and why. Like he would ask the person if you were put in this problem you wouldn't you do the same thing I did?
Is there good and evil when you're put in a bad situation to begin with really in general fits tribetwelve as a whole for me as well.
4. Boss by The Correspondents is about someone whos sick of a powerful person controlling him and the people around him. Its a conversation held between the man and the powerful person in which the man insults him and tells him that the tides will be changing because him and others are planning an uprising.
The line, I can feel the tide and it's turning (Keep it turning, keep it turning) You're already wading waist deep And while you think you're still leading, we're winning Steal the tide that you're so desperate to keep its something that would be said to someone like The Observer or Slenderman himself. Because hes messing with the timeline so much and changing things to make them win.
5. Bottom of the River by Delta Rae is about breaking away from either a powerful god or being. (This is one of the many meanings of the song.) It details ways in which this powerful gods rituals are dangerous, like letting someone drown.
The line, Hold my hand Ooh, baby, it's a long way down to the bottom of the river Hold my hand Ooh, baby, it's a long way down, a long way down shows hardships still to come. Like the singer is talking to the listener about breaking away and the damages being done. It reminds me of how Firebrand is with Noah.
