nalani im in need of some sexy cheol smut 🧎🏻‍♀️
okay so i kind of got carried away bc i started thinking about sugar daddy!cheol who’s lowkey obsessed with the cute little college intern that works at his company. lmk what you think 🤭
from the moment seungcheol saw you, he knew he had to have you.
his need for you increases a tenfold when he hears what a good job you’re doing and how diligent and punctual you are. cheol starts coming around your area more—much to his subordinates’ distress. like they’re so tense when he comes around bc sure he’s a nice guy, but he’s ridiculously rigid and strict. and you’re no exception bc you’ve heard all about his demand for perfection.
except when he comes around to your desk, pretty smile in place, you seem to forget every single warning your coworkers have said to you. seungcheol is interested in your opinions and input, telling you how nice it is to have such a fresh perspective. his attention makes you feel proud and shy all at the same time, but you’re forced to get used to it bc he starts coming around a lot more.
it’s hard for seungcheol to control his desire for you. all he wants to do is make you his and have you on his arm at all times, but he knows he has to play it cool since you’re one of his employees. still, he can’t not spoil and dote on you. it’s just not in his nature.
especially when he finds out you take the bus and sometimes uber to work. he can’t stand the thought of pretty little you riding around in public transportation with your cute skirts and blouses. so one afternoon he calls you in his office and offers you a key to a brand new car. when you laugh off his very serious words, he has to laugh it off too. clearly, he would have to take smaller steps with you.
at least you accept to have his secretary take you and from work.
it doesn’t end there, though. he always offers to buy the office lunch since he knows you’d feel some sort of way if he only bought you lunch. if cheol orders in, he makes sure to get plenty of what you like. if he decides to take everyone out to a restaurant, he makes sure to sit next to you.
admittedly, you love his attention. it’s so flattering that such a smart, handsome man has taken in interest in you no matter how small. what you don’t realize is that his interest is anything but small.
you realize this when you find out that the rest of your tuition has been paid in full.
when you confront your boss, he doesn’t deny it. seungcheol just casually raises an eyebrow, asking why it was so wrong of him to help such a deserving woman like yourself. you’re so flustered that you can’t think straight. he goes on to say that this is only the beginnings of his displays of affections.
suddenly, you start getting bouquets of flowers every week, along with expensive skin care and perfumes. then, that turns into designer clothing and shoes that somehow fit you perfectly. you’d be lying if you say you didn’t love it, but you know you have to put an end to it.
“the clothes aren’t to your taste.” seungcheol muses with a thoughtful nod after you place the bags on his desk one morning. “very well. i’ll let you pick what you want from now on.”
you almost collapse when he holds out his black card for you to take. as you start to splutter about why you can’t accept it, he cuts you off with his soft yet firm voice.
“let me take you out. three times. after that, if you want me to leave you alone, i will.”
it’s like a dream when you spend time with him. seungcheol is much more than a cold, rich man who has more power than anyone you know. he’s thoughtful, kind, and a genuine person. by the end of the first date, you know you won’t be able to stop seeing him.
so you suddenly have a new car, a new luxury apartment, and an entire new wardrobe. your nights are suddenly filled with excitement, always going to places you could’ve only dreamed of. it’s all like a fantasy to you, especially because the most seungcheol has done is kiss your cheek or the back of your hand.
until one night when he’s stressed and you insist that he lets you help him take the edge off.
“daddy!” you cry out as seungcheol pounds into your hot cunt from behind.
“fuck, princess.” cheol groans gutturally as he watches your ass recoil against his pelvis. he slaps your ass and roughly kneads it, loving how the flesh feels in his palms. “love this pretty ass and your tight little pussy.”
your eyes roll to the back of your head as he continues to ram his thick cock into your sweet spot. his heavy balls hit your clit with every thrust, and the stimulation finally pushes you over the edge. you come with a loud moan, staining his thick cock with your orgasm.
“louder, princess.” cheol grips your hips and pounds into you harder. “i want the entire building to hear you moaning for me.”
“stuff me full of your cum, daddy!” you cry out wantonly, his thrusts quickly pushing you into another orgasm. “want you to fill me up!”
you’re abruptly flipped over, legs hooked on seungcheol’s broad shoulders as he starts to drill into you harder and faster. you’re tightening around his cock so much that he can hear a wet plop sound every time he fucks his cock back into you.
“come for me again, princess. come on daddy’s cock while he fucks a baby into this sweet cunt.”
when seungcheol bites down on your neck, you both come violently. thick ropes of hot cum paint your gummy walls, coating every part of you in his essence. you’re mewling as cheol licks and bites at your sensitive flesh. his hips keep moving, fucking his cum deeper inside you.
his lips meet yours for a messy kiss, addicted to the way your cunt keeps sucking him in. he groans into your mouth. “feels like you want more cum from the way you're squeezing me.”
“please, daddy.” you beg against his lips. “keep fucking your cum into me. want to be full of you always.”
seungcheol goes feral with your pleas. he wraps your legs around his waist, drilling his still-hard cock into you again. he watches, satisfied, as your eyes roll back while your mouth drops open in pleasure. his heavy balls smack your ass loudly as he splits you open on his cock. each thrust is getting harder as he chases his second orgasm.
“gonna fuck you full of my cum all night, baby. not gonna stop until you’re pretty little pussy is full of me.”

Thoughts on Strohiem? (From Jojo)
It’s… rough. I have OPINIONS ABOUT HIM.
Tumblr media
For those unaware, or have forgotten. This particular ask is about the character of Rudol von Stroheim from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. A Nazi Major that is introduced in Part 2 of the series. I have always wanted a proper moment to spotlight how much I dislike this character. And not just how I dislike him as a character, but how I dislike his general inclusion in the story as well.
Listen, I LOVE this series. But even I have my limits. It’s because I love it so much that I critique aspects like this in the first place.
Warning, I’m about to word vomit about this because I’ve been DYING to talk about this somewhere.
BIG DISCLAIMER: These are my thoughts and mine alone. I know there’s a lot of… interesting anime fans out there that might disagree. I’m not here to debate on stuff like this, I don’t want to hear your contradictory thoughts on the subject. If I see a single person say I’m “virtue signaling” by saying I don’t like the Jojo Nazi character, I am going to mail you a pipe bomb (in the hit game Minecraft for Windows PCs)
Stroheim’s existence (or at least, how he currently exists in the story) is not handled all that well in my opinion. Like… not at all. I like to poke fun at it, but I genuinely think Araki fumbled the bag so hard with Stroheim and it's more and more unbelievable the more I think about it over time.
No matter how you shake it, Araki fully wrote a historically accurate Nazi character into Battle Tendency and proceeded to give him a redemption arc and make him a member of the supporting cast. Now of course, I know that Japan has a fascination with a lot of German stuff, so within that context I can kind of get why he exists in the way that he does, but it just feels weird and in bad taste.
Contextually, it makes sense. Do I like it? No. No I do not.
Tumblr media
To address the elephant in the room, I get it. Araki really loves to write evil villain characters, and then having them be redeemed, or switch over to the hero's side after a certain point. I actually really enjoy this trope especially in Jojo! It’s one of my favorites. Especially how it’s handled in Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable.
However, writing a redemption storyline for characters like Okuyasu and Rohan is fundamentally different from writing one for Stroheim.
First and most obviously, unlike other characters, Stroheim’s whole character is based on an actual real life totalitarian extremist hate group who committed horrible atrocities across history (and still does to this day).
As if that wasn’t enough, he quite LITERALLY commits horrible atrocities ON SCREEN. Sacrificing an entire room of innocent people to Santana (the first of the Pillar Men) so that the German’s can awaken and study him in their secret lab.
Tumblr media
Everything about Stroheim feels like it’s very intentional at the start. He is clearly set as a villain from the beginning, and it works fine. However once he self-immolates and blows himself up to destroy Santana, the story seems to continuously frame him more and more as an ally/hero from that point onward.
After he returns with his cyborg body, the fact that he’s a Nazi suddenly takes a back seat and now he’s continuously just framed as a “patriotic” soldier. Legit, the moment after he shows back up, Joseph internally comments on how he’s “not exactly a bad guy”.
Tumblr media
Some people will argue on how it’s a bit more complicated than that, since Joseph also thinks about how he dislikes that he’s a German Soldier. But directly after this, he also states how he’s still happy Stroheim isn’t dead. If anything, from this point onward Joseph acts towards Storheim in a similar way to how he acts towards Caeser. Even if they aren’t best friends, Joseph still has positive feelings towards Stroheim, and I hateeeee that.
In the anime, they even make sure to call him a “German Soldier” and not a Nazi. The avoidance of that word really struck me as them trying to avoid that subject because they knew the way the character was treated was strange.
So anyway, as I was trying to say. Redeeming villain characters is one thing, but redeeming a villain character that is straight up a literal Nazi is something else entirely. Especially when like, not to nitpick, but Stroheim never walks back the more extremist beliefs that he for sure subscribes to.
-And if you’re one of those weirdos who tries to make a point by saying “well, he never outright says what he actually believes in! Maybe he is just fighting for Germany for his own reasons.”
My dude, he’s literally described as a “Patrotic Nazi”. What the fuck do yoU THINK HE BELIEVES IN?
Also as a final addition to this rant, I also don’t quite like how weirdly normalized that Araki makes the existence of “german soldiers” in his story even outside of Stroheim. Nazi’s are weirdly commonplace throughout the plot, and while it contextually makes sense since they kicked off the main conflict, they are almost always weirdly painted as neutral or even straight up good guys (after the Santana fight). Which is just really strange to me.
Like bruh, you mean to tell me that Caeser fucking Zeppeli is casually frieNDS WITH ONE OF THEM? BE FUCKIN FR ARAKI LOL
Tumblr media
It also sucks how Stroheim is so increasingly present leading up to the final act. Like MAN, GET THIS MOTHERFUCKER OFF THE SCREEN.
The only good thing about the inclusion of Nazi’s after Stroheim’s initial sacrifice, is that we get to see the Pillar Man murk a shit ton of them on screen. Like, fuck yeah dude. A great way to power scale and show how powerful the Pillar Men are as antagonists, without me feeling bad that they killed a bunch of people to do so.
Tumblr media
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents that nobody asked for. I still LOVE Jojo, I think it’s a masterpiece of its genre, but it’s because of my intense love for it that I criticize it’s missteps so heavily. I hope that my wording on this post is done well, I had to re-draft it a second time after accidentally deleting it once, so I have a feeling it’ll come off a bit scrambled.
That being said, thanks for the Ask!

It’s “urks me” anon. I agree with your reply very much. I know I sent the ask but you did not have to reply as in depth as you did and it genuinely made me feel a lot more comfortable with the space you are creating. I kinda wish you had explained yourself that well in the beginning but hey I of all people know online communication is difficult and this is an evolving convo. Also I’m going to be real your followers have been being a lot more annoying than you ever could be and it was affecting my mood when talking to you. It’s less that healthy people talking about risk management inherently annoys me and more that they are constantly slipping in microaggressions and minor misinfo when they talk about it. Even if the choices they are making are (sometimes…) reasonable it is so obvious that they were not listening to the important technical details vulnerable people were speaking and only heard “blah blah blah scary stuff and restrictions blah blah blah” like…!? I think overshaming is one piece of the puzzle. But I think a lot of people, including many so called allies and covid-aware people, simply don’t listen to us very carefully regardless of how diplomatic we’re being. Maybe they think they already know the technical details even though they clearly don’t? Idk it’s very irritating.
Thanks for your message. This is another place where I get very enraged at our public institutions for failing us so catastrophically! We have all been so systematically misled about COVID, and the actual infection numbers and other ever-evolving data on how it's currently spreading is actively covered up, and not made accessible by journalistic institutions, so on that level I do not hold individiduals reponsible for not understanding things.
Chronically ill, disabled, and otherwise COVID-conscious people have been forced to become the public health information apparatus and have done incredible amounts of thankless work geneating the data, reporting on it, monitoring wastewater levels, delving deeply into the latest research, creating infographics, and trying to spread the word to the public about it, but they have no assistance in it, and no platform beyond what they can build online. and those online communities tend to become siloed because of how social media algorithms work, and so people who have been spreading the facts relentlessly every single day routinely bump up against people who do not see those same posts hardly ever because they are in different pockets of the internet. Which comes down both to their choices and priorities, and due to algortihmic echo-chambers, and economic and political incentive structures silencing the work that COVID-conscious folks do.
And yes, also, people very much do shut down and turn away when confronted with scary information... that's a very well-established fact within public health and persuasion science that has remained a real barrier to public awareness campaigns for a long time. People do not process information about death and threat well at all. So much so that many public health intitatives of the past had to limit talk of death and scary outcomes if they want people to things like get a cancer screening or contemplate quitting smoking. the cigarette companies themselves funded "anti smoking" campaigns that were awash in images of death and bodily decay because they knew those kinds of messages shut people down and actually make them less likely to quit. (i write a lot about this stuff in my new book).
This is where conversations about tactics do become relevant again -- mentioning death or the direness of long COVID isn't "shaming", it's not moral sanctimoniousness, it's not "wrong" to do, it is accurate! but it doesn't usually work persuasively. and I do think there is more we could do to frame masking and taking covid mitigation measures as a thing for a person to take pride in, feel empowered by, and feel connected to others by doing, which generally is what we find to be more effective in public health research.
to return to the cancer comparison, we tend to find that "think of how much peace of mind you'll feel after your cancer screening! take a positive step for your health!" is a more effective framing that actually inspires behavioral change than "if you don't find out that you have pancreatic cancer in time you will most likely die. here are the stats on how many people die of it." That kind of messaging tends to make people less likely to take proactive steps. even though it's all rooted in actual facts.
I have seen some propaganda (postive connotation) evoking a kind of positive, empowering idea regarding masking at protests, but I'd love to see more of it. Sounding the alarm repeatedly does not work for a variety of psychological reasons. people get both numb to it if they've heard something is a "pressing serious life and death emergency" for long enough, and paradoxically, they also overwhelmed by the bleakness. we see a similar thing happening with climate change. these situations ARE dire and people SHOULD care, but in order to make caring feel concrete and possible, behaviorally, we have to frame information in an empowering way.
of course, there are COVID conscious people who do do that and devote lots of energy to crafting such persuasive messages! and still have to cope with being silenced, downgraded by the algorithm, ignored, attacked by anti-maskers, etc. and lots of people understandably feel that they have tried everything and that people still don't care. from where they are sitting as one person that's the emotional reality and that's often the lived intepersonal experience. but that appearance of other people not caring was engineered...and lord i hope we can find a way to socially engineer a collective way out of it, because what we are doing isn't working well enough. unfortunately the thing we need the most desperately is just more people spreading the message and giving a shit.

“Azriel needs someone who can accept his darkness. He needs someone who can fight at his side. Elain won’t ever understand him. Blah blah blah”
Are you sure? How do you know what Azriel needs?
We only got his POV in a bonus chapter where he would literally beg on his knees for Elain. And it’s not just lust, because his feelings are so strong he would fight in a blood duel for her (and win). He questions his own religion for her. Not because he’s full of himself, but because he feels so strongly about her. Plus we know the male doesn’t know how to articulate his feelings at all, so why are we surprised he can’t? **Cough** Mor?? **Cough**
How can you be sure that the male who was tortured by his own family, kept in a dungeon, is the literal torturer of the NC, was kept away from his friends during the war and used by Rhys terrible father, does NOT want a women who is kind, quiet, enjoys to bake and garden? Someone who is not violent, who is soft and needs him? Wants him?
Also.. have you met a middle child? Lol. They can handle darkness 😭 Not to mention having to handle Nesta and Feyre lol.
Why don’t we just stop saying we know what Azriel or even Lucien wants and start reading what they literally show and tell us they want?
Do you think it’s a coincidence that the only internal monologue we see from Lucien is that he says Elain is nothing like jesminda? The women he was so in love with that he thought a bond would snap? That Elain was thrown at him? That he doesn’t even stay in the Night Court to be around her? That Feyre says he hasn’t put in the work to bridge the gap between them? That he blushes when talking about Vassa in front of his mate? That he stays in the human lands with Vassa and Jurian?
Do you think it’s a coincidence that basically every single scene so far related to Elain has Azriel involved in some way? That he was the one to sit in the garden with her? To figure out she’s a Seer? That he was listening to her talk about her garden plans late into the night? That he rescued her? That he took the plate of potatoes from her hands and said he’ll handle it? That he made everyone wait for her to be seated? That he looks at her gift every single night? That gets her a custom necklace as a gift? That he literally questions his religion? Does this genuinely seem like a guy, who could sleep with anyone he wants, just pining for sex?
Can we all stop doing mental gymnastics when it’s actually really fucking clear what these guys both want?
And can we finally just stop focusing only on what the MALE characters want, but take the time to think of what the female characters want?
If Elain wanted Lucien she would show it. She would literally already have him. She doesn’t. She literally takes every opportunity to not involve herself with him. She literally tells Feyre that him bringing her a gift does not entitle him to her affections. She clearly shows indifference to him. And it’s not because she’s a bitch. She is a seer, maybe she sees something we don’t. Or maybe it’s just literally the fact he is associated with her human life being stripped away from her. Whether you admit it or not, Lucien did play a role in it. Maybe not directly like Ianthe, but it all started with Tamlin and Lucien just going along with it even though he knew Feyre was suffering and literally told Lucien to his face that she wasn’t coming back. Could they rationalize that it was because Rhys is bad and manipulated her? Sure. But they still literally went to Hybern for help. Like “oh no, the bad guy did something bad.” You know what she does show? She shows she wants Azriel.
Does Gwyn show she wants Azriel? No. She only blushed at Rhys. But I don’t blame her because I’d blush at the High Lord too. There have been no interactions where she shows she even wants Azriel. Gwyn is focused on her healing and the support she feels from her friendship with Nesta and Emerie. She’s trying to prove that she is strong to not only herself, but to the person who rescued her, which is Azriel. She’s also trying to prove it to Cassian which people forget to mention. To wipe the smirks off their faces. She has not shown any interest in romance at this time. Will she and does she deserve it? Yes and yes. But in canon at this time we don’t see that being a priority for her.
I want all these characters to get the partner they want. And so does SJM. They are her characters, she knows what they want and need, and she said that is what drives her pairings. What she knows her characters need.
Does the screenshot below seem like a male who is pissed he doesn’t get to just have sex with a female he’s attracted to? Or does it seem like a male that can’t be with the female he loves and as a result completely shuts down into what we can only interpret as how he always feels… like nothing??

Tumblr media
Saturday morning, Mitsuya wakes up with a bright smile on his face, the confession from just hours before still replaying in his head like his favorite scene in a movie. He flexes his hand, fondly remembering how hers fit so seamlessly in his. They were close to a kiss; if they hadn’t been interrupted by her parents, he’s sure it would have happened. While he wants nothing more than to feel how soft her lips are, especially pressed against his, he wonders if this is all happening a little too fast. After all, they aren’t official yet. He ought to ask her to be his girlfriend first before he smooches her, right? Isn’t that what a gentleman does?
And is Takashi Mitsuya, founding member and Second Division captain of the Tokyo Manji gang even capable of being a gentleman? Of being a good boyfriend?
He gradually comes down from his dreamy state to contemplate how best to proceed with this. After breakfast, he calls both Draken and Takemitchy, the only two people he knows that are actually succeeding in the boyfriend category.
“You have a girlfriend now?!” Takemitchy exclaims loudly on the other end. Hina’s in the background, begging him to put it on speaker so she can listen in too.
“No, not yet. I confessed to her last night and she likes me back.” He smiles to himself, recalling the moment once again.
“Holy shit, you actually took my advice,” Draken chuckles. “Good shit, man. So did you two kiss yet or…?”
“Well, we almost did,” he explains. “Her parents came out right as we were about to. But it got me thinking that maybe we should make it official first before we do anything irresponsible.”
Draken barks out a laugh. “You know that you can’t get a girl pregnant just from kissing her, right?”
Before Mitsuya can cuss him out, Takemitchy comments, “No, I totally understand where you’re coming from! When Hina and I started dating, we barely held hands. It took even longer for us to kiss! Waiting for the right time just made it all the more special.”
“Hina, stop holding the gun to his head, we know you’re in the room with us,” Draken teases.
There’s shuffling on their end as she grabs hold of the phone, giggling, “I didn’t even have to tell him to say that! Anyways Mitsuya, I think taking things slow is a wonderful idea!”
“Nah, screw that. You’re a man now, Takashi. And men have needs. As long as she wants it too, I say just go for it.”
“Go for what exactly?” Mitsuya asks, genuinely curious.
“Dude, do I really have to spell it out for you?”
“Please don’t,” Takemitchy murmurs.
“Nothing gross!” Hina chimes in.
“I’m talking about fu – ”
“Ken Ryuguji!” Emma’s voice rings from the line. “Do not say what I think you’re about to say! Not in front of our child!”
“It can’t even hear yet!”
Clearly now, Emma insists, “Mitsuya, whatever you do, do not listen to Draken. Go with your heart instead of your…well, you know.”
“Says the woman who is currently pregnant because of you-know-what,” Draken mutters.
“This is totally different. We’ve been together for years. Mitsuya’s only known this girl for a month. And unlike you, Ken Ryuguji, Takashi is actually a sweet guy.”
“Hey!”
She ignores him, adding, “You’ve got all the time in the world. Do what you think is right. Everything will work out in the end.”
He thanks all four of them for their input before ending the call, heeding their advice carefully the remainder of the day as he babysits his sisters at home. It’s probably best for him and Hana to discuss what their expectations are going forward. He has no experience in relationships whatsoever, so naturally, he’s apprehensive. He wouldn’t be able to forgive himself if he somehow becomes a rotten boyfriend.
Around dinnertime, he decides to text her, asking if she is free to talk on the phone later tonight, to which she confirms that she is. He takes the next few hours to prepare himself, rehearsing what he’d like to say over and over in his head until he tucks his sisters into bed, retreating into his own bedroom to dial Shimizu’s number.
After two rings, she picks up. “Hello?”
He smiles, happy to hear her voice. “Hi. How are you?”
“Good. And you?”
“Good. Great, actually. I hope I’m not bothering you.”
“You’re not. I’m happy you called.”
They exchange pleasantries, recounting each other’s nights before getting to the main matter. His heart skips a beat, getting increasingly nervous, despite how comforting it is to hear her speak so casually with him. When the right opportunity arrives, he clears his throat, remembering what he practiced from earlier. “I just want to make sure that we do this right, you know? I’ve never had a girlfriend, so I really don’t know what to do when it comes to things like this. But I want to do my best to be a good boyfriend to you.”
Her voice is gentle and sweet as she replies, “I feel the same way. I’ve never had a boyfriend either. I don’t know how good of a girlfriend I can be. But I’ll do my best too to be good to you. We’ll learn together. ”
He grins, touched by her words. “Together. I like that.” He swallows his emotions to continue. “I’m sure your parents won’t approve of you dating a gang member. But you’ll always be safe with me. You have nothing to worry about when it comes to Toman. I can promise you that.”
“It doesn’t matter to me that you’re in Toman. I already feel safe with you, so I’m not concerned about that at all.”
Surprised, he says, “Really?”
“Really,” she confirms with confidence. “I want you to feel safe with me too. I’ll do everything I can to protect you. I mean, I can’t fight. But I promise that I’ll be there for you whenever you need someone to lean on, someone to support you. I want to help you however I can.”
Tears begin to well in his eyes, his heart on the verge of bursting from his chest. He’s never felt anything like this before. He’s always taken pride in protecting the people dearest to him, whether it be his family or his fellow brothers in the gang. And while he knows that his friends will always have his back, knowing that someone outside of Toman is looking out for him, determined to protect him, feels different. Is it okay for Mitsuya to rely on her like this? To be vulnerable and depend on her throughout all the obstacles that come his way? Draken’s words from last night replay in his head. You deserve to be happy. You’re always the one taking care of others, it’s about time someone takes care of you. The more he thinks about it, he realizes that yes, maybe he does deserve this.
He grabs a tissue from his nightstand, wiping away his sniffles. “You’ve already helped me so much. I don’t know if this makes sense, but when I’m with you, I feel normal. I feel like myself, you know? Like I’m more than just this Toman jacket. I’m just me. A lot of our classmates are too scared to talk to me, and when they do, it’s usually for a favor because of my reputation. But you approached me, wanting sewing lessons. I feel like you see the real me more than anyone else does.”
It takes a several seconds for her to respond, seemingly holding back tears. Eventually, she says, “I’m really glad I came to you for lessons then.”
“Me too.”
There’s a comfortable silence between them as they cherish each other’s heartfelt sentiments, Mitsuya stares at his bedroom ceiling with the phone pressed to his hear, wishing he could see her right now. “So, Hana Shimizu.”
She giggles. “Yes, Takashi Mitsuya?”
“Would you please do me the honor and be my girlfriend?”
There’s more of her precious laughter as she answers, “Yes. And will you do me the honor and be my boyfriend?”
“Absolutely yes,” he replies, smiling even wider. He’s tempted to get out of bed and drive to her house to commemorate this special occasion, but he resists. Instead, he blurts out, “Do you want to come over for breakfast tomorrow? I really want to see you before school on Monday. I can make pancakes. Plus, my mom has a late shift and she’ll be home, so you can meet her.”
“Isn’t this too soon to be meeting your mother?”
“Is it? Are there rules against it or something?”
She laughs. “I guess not. We can make up our own rules. As long as we’re learning together, right?”
“You know I like the sound of that. I’ll see you tomorrow, then?”
“Yes, tomorrow. Goodnight, Takashi.”
His breath hitches, enjoying the sound of his name from her mouth a little too much. Chest fluttering with affection, he says quietly, “Goodnight, Hana.”
~~~
Within twenty-four hours of his confession, you are officially Takashi Mitsuya’s girlfriend.
You stare wide-eyed at the ceiling of your bedroom in disbelief, the phone still warm in your grasp having just finished your conversation with your now boyfriend. You’re tingling all over, utterly amazed and completely ecstatic at this recent turn of events. Who would have thought you, plain and ordinary Hana Shimizu, would be anyone’s girlfriend, let alone Takashi Mitsuya’s girlfriend?
It takes you a while to fall asleep, mind racing with thoughts and fantasies of your new relationship. You wake up the next morning, both nervous and excited to see him. Knowing that you’ll be meeting his mom today, you put on your best dress, hoping to make a good impression. You quietly step down the stairs, barely sticking your head into the kitchen to greet your parents. “Morning! I’m going out for breakfast!”
Before you can sneak away, your mother calls out to you. “With who? Mei and Keiko?”
You contemplate lying, but you know that never pans out well. So, praying they don’t question it, you answer, “I’m going to the Mitsuyas.” You listen for any reaction, and when you only hear hushed whispers between your parents, you slip into your shoes, heading out the door.
It’s a short trip to his house, less than ten minutes. You knock on the front door, taking a deep breath. He answers quickly, a smile already on his face, eyes full of kindness as he greets you. “Hana, good morning.” Your name sounds so soothing from his mouth; you never thought your name was special but hearing it from him makes it feel that way. “Hi, Takashi.”
He rubs the nape of his neck, a slight blush on his cheeks. “I’m not used to hearing you say my first name yet.”
“Do you want me to stop?”
“No, not at all. I just…I think I like it a little too much,” he admits.
You reach for his hand, brushing your fingers gently along his knuckles. When Luna and Mana come running towards the entrance, you immediately retract from him, embarrassed. “Ms. Hana!” they cheer, hugging you tightly around the waist.
You pat their heads. “Hi! I missed you two!”
They peer up at you, beaming. “We missed you so much!”
“What did Taka do to you, huh? Should we beat him up?” Luna offers, shooting a glare at her brother.
“No, no, no! He didn’t do anything wrong, I promise,” you assure them.
Takashi snorts, playfully rolling his eyes. “Like you even stand a chance.”
“We know exactly where to hit you, Taka!” Luna threatens.
Mana chimes in. “Yeah, you taught us, remember?!”
You grin at him, brow raised. “What are you teaching them?”
“Self-defense, of course,” he replies, smirking. “In case some idiots try to mess with them.”
A woman with the same downturned lavender eyes appears from the kitchen, a warm smile on her face. The resemblance is uncanny; this is definitely Takashi’s mother. She’s as beautiful as you imagined her to be and you’re immediately flustered under her gaze. You bow to her, the kiddos still latched to your legs. “Good morning, Ms. Mitsuya. Thank you for having me.”
“Of course. You’re welcome anytime. I’ve heard so much about your from my children, so I’m so happy I finally get to meet you. The food is ready, so if you’d like, we can start eating.”
The five of you gather around the table, Takashi taking the seat beside you, his knee touching yours as you sit cross-legged on the cushion. The spread is fantastic: fluffy pancakes stacked neatly one-by-one, pillowy golden tamago topped with strips of seaweed, bowls of strawberries and other fruit to top it all off. Luna and Mana help themselves to a pile of pancakes, drizzling a generous amount of syrup before they take a big bite. Takashi serves you, giving you a little bit of everything to try. His mother watches the two of you, a small grin on her face.
You chat casually, Ms. Mitsuya asking the typically questions: how’s school, what your family does for work, what you plan to study in university. “I’m going to major in education. I want to become a teacher,” you inform her.
“So you will follow in your father’s footsteps. How wonderful,” she comments. “Mitsuya, maybe you should consider doing that, too.”
You face him, nodding. “You’d be a great teacher!”
He shrugs, stuffing a forkful of eggs into his mouth. “I think I’d rather keep my major to business. If I ever become a designer, I might want to open my own shop, you know?”
His mom leans forward, a serious expression on her face now. “Do you think you’ll really follow through with it, Takashi? I know how committed you are to Toman, but maybe it’s time to move on from it. I don’t want you to put your dreams on the backburner for this little gang of yours.”
“Why can’t I do both? I’m not just going to abandon my friends, Mom. And I’m not going to abandon my dreams, either. I can do them both,” He avoids her gaze, staring down at his almost empty plate of food. You rest your hand on his knee, squeezing it, wanting to show your support for him. If he’s confident that he can balance both obligations at the same time, then you believe in him too.
He smiles at you, entwining his fingers with yours. “I have another announcement to make. Hana and I are dating.” Much to your shock, he holds your hands up, showcasing this display of affection.
Luna and Mana squeal, applauding enthusiastically. “Yay!”
You anticipate his mother’s reaction and breathe a sigh of relief when you notice her serious demeanor relax, a grin spreading across her face at the news. “Congratulations. I’m very happy to hear that.”
He grips you tighter, looking at her. “Mom, I know you think I have a lot to deal with, but I can do this. When have I ever let you down?”
She shakes her head. “You never have.”
“So, do I have your support? Do we have your support?”
She smiles. “Of course. You always have, and you always will.”
While the abrupt announcement has you shaken at first, you can’t help being elated at how well this is already going. With his mother’s approval, this only leaves your parents to consult with next, which might prove a bit more difficult than this. However, with Takashi by your side, you’re confident you can convince them to trust in this new relationship of yours. Especially with all the wonderful merits your boyfriend brings to the table.
After breakfast, you play with this sisters in the living room while mother and son wash the dishes in the kitchen. When Takashi excuses himself to use the bathroom, you take this chance to speak to her in private, if only for a brief moment. Standing next to her at the sink, a clean dish towel in hand, you offer to dry the dishes, which she gladly accepts. “Ms. Mitsuya. I just want to thank you for welcoming me into your home.”
“Like I said, you’re always welcome here.” She glances at the hallway, checking on Takashi, who remains in the bathroom. In a lower, hushed tone, she adds, “I just hope that you can push Takashi in the right direction.”
Confused, you ask, “What do you mean?”
She sighs, scrubbing the last bowl with the sponge. “I don’t want him to be in Toman for the rest of his life. I’m not sure if you know this, but back in middle school, he got into this really big fight. He was beaten to nearly an inch of his life, all for the sake of his friend, Hakkai. I’m scared that if this continues any further, there will be a time he’ll put his life on the line and won’t be able to get back on his feet. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders, so maybe you can steer him to where he needs to go.”
It’s never crossed your mind what hardships Takashi has had to overcome in his past. Sure, there are rumors and idle gossip about him floating amongst your classmates, but you never paid it any mind, wanting to get to know him for yourself. Hearing this from his own mother is concerning, and with her subtle plea for you to guide him away from Toman, you’re not sure if you’re qualified to do that. It doesn’t seem like your place to interfere with his life. All you can do is support in whatever decisions he makes, right?
Your boyfriend returns before you can respond to her, standing beside you to help dry the remaining dishes. Ms. Mitsuya slides her gloves off, wiping her hands on a paper towel. “I need to run to the store to get a few groceries. I’ll take the girls with me so they can pick out some snacks. Will you be okay here, Taka?”
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.”
“Hana, it was so nice to finally meet you. I’ll see you again soon, okay?” She wraps her arms around you in a snug embrace.
“Yes, thank you for breakfast, Ms. Mitsuya,” you say, squeezing her back. You hug Luna and Mana goodbye before they leave hand-and-hand with their mother, leaving you and Takashi alone.
You turn to face him, stepping closer. “I guess I should head home soon.”
He closes the distance even further, leaning towards you, his hands in his pockets, a smirk on his face. “Yeah, maybe that’s for the best.”
You grin at him, wrapping your arms around his neck. “Thank you for inviting me. This was really fun.”
He slides his hands around your waist, pulling you closer, nuzzling his nose to yours. “It was. Thank you for coming.”
Your lips meet in a delicate kiss, sweet and soft just as you imagined it’d be. Warmth fills your chest and you’re almost breathless when you part, his forehead pressed to yours, smiling. “Do you really have to go?”
You giggle, giving him a peck on the cheek before you pull away. “I think I should.”
He watches you from the doorway as you make your way outside, twirling in your dress once more to wave goodbye. You stroll through the neighborhood in a daze, lips tingling, body buzzing with excitement, taking your time to get home.
Ms. Mitsuya’s request still lingers in your mind as you enter your house, humming a happy tune with your mom and dad eyeing you suspiciously. Then, there’s your parents, of course, who you’ll need to talk to soon. There may be obstacles to face, but you’re confident that you and Takashi can persevere, together. All that matters in this moment is that the two of you are happy. And there is nothing standing in your way to stop that.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about the argument between Wilhelm and Simon in the music room in episode 5. Wondering why Wilhelm reacted the way he did when he learned that Simon supplied the drugs. He’s not just disappointed or concerned here, but also straight-up angry.
Granted, he doesn’t know the context of the situation, and he doesn’t know about August’s money issues until Simon tells him, but does that justify him immediately resorting to anger?
This is the first time Simon does something Wilhelm didn’t expect from him. Before this, he definitely had Simon on a pedestal. Thinking of him as this perfect, beautiful being who can do nothing wrong. This moment breaks that illusion and he’s presented with a different reality, one which he struggles to understand.
I don’t want to make this a discussion about morality, but rather reflect on Wilhelm’s worldview. When they bring out the drugs at the society party he’s cheering along enthusiastically with the others. Sure, he’s drunk at this point, but I sincerely doubt that’s the first time he’s taken drugs at a party. I’d say it’s very likely this stuff happens quite frequently. So that’s just what drugs are to him, something fun you do at parties. I’m even gonna assume there’s always someone else who brings them. So he’s never been confronted by the truth of where they come from.
Tumblr media
Judging by his reaction, at this point he might think that selling drugs is something that ‘bad’ people do. But Simon isn’t a bad person, so why would he do it? I find it interesting how his first question is if Simon is trying to “suck up to August”. That’s where his mind goes, because that’s what he’s used to people doing around him. Is he worried Simon isn’t as genuine as he thought? Has Simon lied to him? Then when the money issues are brought up he’s unsure what to say.
I don’t think Wilhelm understands Simon’s socioeconomic status. He knows Simon’s family is poor. He’s seen how Simon lives, with his single mother and sister in a house that’s clearly too small for them, since Simon’s room really just is a small space behind the laundry. But I don’t think he understands what it actually means to be poor or what poverty can do to people. Since Wilhelm has been living such a privileged and sheltered life, money doesn’t mean anything to him because he’s never had to worry about it being a scarcity.
Simon on the other hand does care about money because he doesn’t have any other choice. He can’t get good grades because he can’t pay for extra tutoring. He doesn’t wanna ask his mother for financial help because she’s already working hard enough to support them. And August screwed him over so he got stuck in this debt he can’t afford. That’s how he ended up in this messed-up situation.
Again, I’m not making a jab at Wilhelm’s morals here, quite the contrary. I don’t think he would have reacted like that if he’d known the full story. I suspect Wilhelm had a moment of doubt if Simon really was the person he thought he was and, as usual, expressed himself with anger.
let's talk about the way we talk about sigma
and i’m not just saying this because i’m a hater or because i find the woobification of characters annoying (although i am, and i do, but that’s neither here nor there) but i AM saying it cuz it’s no longer mildly annoying so much as it is just hurtful and exhausting due to the casual ableism it perpetuates. whether it’s consciously or not, it’s there and i’m pointing it out cuz a lot of people probably don’t even realize what they’re saying (i hope) so i wanna spell it out crystal clear.
*granted, these are sentiments i’ve seen far more often on twitter or tiktok than on here (and i know complaining about stupid takes on either site is like going to the beach and getting mad about all the sand, but bear with me) but it’s ABSOLUTELY something that i see a lot on here too and i'm starting to get incredibly fed up with it all. someone's gotta fuckin say it.
im going to put the majority of this under a readmore because i've got a lot to say on the topic but here's the long and short of it:
you guys have GOT to stop acting like sigma is a poor little helpless confused manipulated innocent little uwu baby. like, for real. stop saying that shit. stop lamenting about “waahhh poor science granpa doesn’t know where he is or what’s happening around himmm 🥺🥺🥺”. stop acting like he’s being held captive or abused by talon despite evidence to the contrary so you can make your little “uwu i can’t wait for overwatch to save him and Fix Him uwuwuw” posts. and for the love of all that’s holy, if i see one more person say or imply that he was better off when he was being forcibly institutionalized than he is now working for talon, i’m going to start fucking attacking people with my teeth like a chimpanzee.
it's incredibly fucking weird and alienating for literally anyone who experiences even a fraction of the things yall are pointing out as proof of his incompetence. and before any of you hit me with the "oh it's not that deep 🙄" im gonna tell you right now that i dont care and im going to be mad about it anyway cuz its my party and i can post whatever i want.
ANYWAY!!
to continue my point, not only is it weird and infantilizing and demeaning and belittling to those of us who deal with literally any of the myriad of things going on with him that i’ve seen people point to as proof that he ‘needs to be fixed’ — memory lapses, time loss, dissociation, auditory hallucinations, disordered thought, just straight up being autistic, hyperfocus and/or complete lack of focus, panic attacks or meltdowns, i cannot overstate how many of the ‘weird’ things he does are just autistic traits so i’m gonna say it a second time for good measure — and those are all just things that i personally have in common with him (which is part of the reason i’m as mad about this as i am to make this post, but i digress).
to single out these things, all of which are completely reasonable for someone who is autistic, who is traumatized, who suffered through a prolonged period of forced confinement, and/or who has literal brain damage, and NONE of which are nearly as tragic and doomed as people are making them out to be, that’s all bad enough on its own!
but to point out these traits and then turn around and use them to color every single interaction he has with another character, every single thing he says, and tie it back to his traaaagic broken mind and how he’s clearly losing his grip on reality just feels… insanely othering in a way that’s really exhausting.
like, for fucks sake, a solid 80% of his character interactions could be lifted near verbatim from conversations i’ve had in real life with my friends, family, coworkers, you name it, all of which were friendly and usually in jest — hell, 9/10 times when i let out a random non sequitur or lose my train of thought or forget what i’m doing, nobody even bats a fucking eye! they sure as hell don't accuse whoever i’m talking to of abusing me because they expressed mild annoyance at my bad joke.
i’ve genuinely seen someone get all worked up and construe his one interaction with sombra where he comments on her tendency to disappear and reappear in odd places as evidence that he’s got dementia and is slipping away from reality altogether… and not, yknow, a nod to her fucking cloaking ability and translocator and the fact that she uses both very frequently just for the hell of it. that one still fucking baffles me i'm sorry. if i hadn't seen it with my own eyes i'd honestly think it was a joke. like. cmon now
another thing that makes it even worse is that most of this is also just…. not even grounded in canon. if this was the way blizz was writing him, it’d be one thing. it would still be shitty and ableist, but blizzard handling their oooh spooky scary mentally ill character badly is about as surprising as the sun rising every morning. i can't say i wouldn't still be upset to see people continuing to perpetuate it, but i wouldn't be AS mad, i guess.
but SO. MANY. of the popular takes on his character are either never concretely stated or outright contradicted by his ingame dialogue and interactions and it drives me insane!!! idk WHERE y’all are getting this shit but so many people are reaching so hard to make him a tragic sad uwuwuw glass bones and paper skin pathetic little meow meow that they’re going out of their way to misinterpret source material so they can shout from the rooftops about how sad and pathetic and unaware they think people like me must be.
i keep seeing people talk about how he probably has no idea that talon is a terrorist group, that he doesn’t know what talon IS, or that he doesn’t even know that he WORKS for talon, and it’s starting to go from mildly annoying to infuriating. this shit has literally no basis in canon aside from conjecture based on the fact that he’s Known to be mentally ill!! i don't see even half as many people getting this all up in arms about widow, who we KNOW FOR A FACT was literally kidnapped and experimented on and brainwashed by talon. like. that's her WHOLE THING. meanwhile sig literally just works there and people are clamoring for ovw to come """""rescue"""""" him as if hes like, a lab animal or something instead of a grown man who happens to not be particularly bothered by the fact that he works for talon.
this is something that's addressed in game MULTIPLE TIMES - he’d far prefer to watch an ant crawl on the ceiling than listen to s76 trying to ‘talk sense into him’, not because he can’t hear him or anything either, it’s pretty clear from his tone and cadence that he’s actively choosing to ignore him. when baptiste points out the fact that he’s fully capable of leaving talon if he wanted to, he doesn’t deny it or act confused or like that’s a strange thing to say, he just seems a little bemused that someone would think he WANTS to leave. yeah, he sure could— but why would he bother?
he's not "totally unaware of what he's doing" in the fucking slightest - hell, i'd argue that his new map-exclusive lines and interactions prove that he's MORE grounded now than he was in ovw1. yes, he gets a little confused on occasion when he can't quite remember the last time he's been somewhere. (memory lapses are just kind of like that. i had several while writing this post, in fact! it just fucking happens sometimes. it's really not the end of the world. frustrating, yeah, but i promise you we can manage just fine).
i guess the question i'm asking is: is it really all that difficult for to fathom that he might just... WANT to be there? that he might just straight up not care what talon is up to, so long as he's able to keep doing his research as he sees fit??
and for the record, before anyone takes this and runs with it and we lose the plot of this post, i am NOT SAYING that the very idea of wanting him to leave talon is #problematic or anything. i dont care, really. do whatever you want. what i do care about is just like.... being mindful about what we're saying and WHY we're saying it. it's reaching a point where people are somehow managing to look at the ass backwards already ableist as hell decisions blizz has already made with him and decided "hey, i bet i can find a way to make that even worse!"
I’ve seen a lot of people on radblr say they think asexuality is incredibly rare if at all extant, and I’m a bit confused by it? I experience sexual attraction very rarely, and experience it as more than a fleeting urge/interest almost never, so while I don’t identify as such, I don’t really get why there’s such skepticism around it? I’ve been celibate 98% of my adult life, and I know a lot of people in their twenties who haven’t had sex. It’s not something they advertise or discuss typically unless with someone else who’s also “perpetually single” but I don’t think it’s as rare or unlikely as it’s sometimes made out to be? I do think the “ace” community on here is nothing of the sort and is genuinely abominable - LGB had a robust enough class consciousness that even as the TQ has fought to erode their existence there’s at least a strong pushback. Meanwhile it was so early on that people who enjoy sex started saying they were ace, that actual asexual community building was annihilated before it could go anywhere or mean anything. There’s also the fact that asexuals really do not need political organizing - no desire to hold hands in public or engage in relationships means no marginalization to fight against. The worst things you can experience are pressure from family/friends/work, but that’s literally nothing, and pressure from men if you’re a woman, but that’s misogyny. If it hadn’t been destroyed by people who wanted to feel special in the stupidest possible way it could have had some value in normalizing people not needing to be in relationships, not just as something temporary but as a lifestyle, and as a way of in general fighting a culture that pressures women to say yes and fear saying no. …this got a bit tangential. Anyway while it is certainly a minority occurrence - is there a reason for the skepticism toward asexuality beyond the same issue that’s affecting everything, people who clearly aren’t ace destroying the meaning of the word?
I can't speak for everyone, but when I say it's rare, I mean that it's rare as a naturally innate orientation. asexuality would be no attraction ever, and can't be learned or gained and would never be possible for that person. I only think it's important to be pedantic about this when discussing orientation, so that the word orientation is understood in any context.
When it comes to any of the multiple reasons why people might see themselves as asexual because of external factors, I'm not interested in correcting them, not least of which not having sex is fine and even great! I'm not even interested in asking them to explore that and try to determine why they might be asexual, because it's their business and they don't owe me or anyone else anything, and I don't feel entitled to that. However, the line will stop if they choose to be openly homophobic or misogynistic, which I've seen. I think we're allowed to say "why do you think you can think like that? say that to me?" pretty much any time someone is being openly offensive.
I hope I'm being understood here. I hope people understand why it's important to say if you almost never feel sexual attraction except actually once in a blue moon you do and that attraction is always heterosexual, it's important to define that as heterosexuality as an orientation. Orientation is not a measure of how often you desire sex, but who you're attracted to, and in a homophobic society this matters a great deal.
Under no circumstance for any reason do I think anyone should be pressured to have sex, nor does sex need to happen to prove an identity to another person. Sex should only be had willingly and enthusiastically. And never having sex your entire life is more than okay, and I hope lots of women consider if that's actually something they want!
Thanks for the q
As someone who doesn't like vice versa I dare you to try make me like jimmysea
SKFGDSKFGSKDGFSKDGF I—i mean if they're not really your thing i doubt anything i could say is gonna make you like them but YEAH OKAY SURE WHY NOT I CAN TRY
let's meet our boys separately first!!!!
jimmy. actor, doctor, babygirl. frankly has my undying admiration even just for being able to juggle his acting job while also studying to become a dermatologist and somehow succeeding at both literally could never be me. people tend to dislike him for his role as wai in bad buddy, but you only need to watch any bts video from the show to see how much he is adored by everyone and if anything that should be proof of the absolute range he has as an actor. avocado enthusiast and self proclaimed extrovert (is he tho. is he really), don’t get fooled by his quiet and responsible appearance, he’s actually the most deranged man in the industry. i still remember the day an anon told me he improvised nomming on his co-star's face and using a pillow to suggest stripping said co-star down and eating him out all in the name of Acting™ because i've never been the same ever since. the me before and after i was given this information are completely different people
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sea. actor, athlete, dog dad. you won't get a single objective thought out of me because i am: Disgustingly Fond. debuted with a killer performance in the show 55:15 never too late as a supporting character, the fact that he's somehow still so underrated when he's one of the best actor in GMMTV makes me want to bark bite maim kill. he is an actual ray of sunshine with a smile that could light up the entire world and also the perfect example of an introvert: he has the innate ability to somehow disappear from any social gathering, but if he wakes up in a silly goose mood you will find him shamelessly twerking in front of everyone and being an absolute goofball. he's also a great singer and goes along with everything jimmy does because he is a big Simp™ (who's more deranged, the one who noms first, or the one who noms back, this is the question)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and now onto them as a pairing!!!!!
jimmysea. with a 5 years difference between them, they are actually the pair with the biggest age gap in GMMTV, which could have come in the way of their on- and off-screen relationship, but from what we are privy of i think you can see in every interaction they have that they clearly adore and are incredibly fond of each other. maybe it's because they share the same kind of derangement, or maybe it's because they both are very hardworking and humble boys who always try to give their best, but somehow they work. as the older one jimmy is always there to help and guide sea however he can, but when he needs it sea is ready to step up and carry the weight for him. they may not possess the kind of chemistry that's all sparks and fireworks, but they have a quiet gentle intimate one that makes them look like they've been married for years, which is also helped by their insane ability of looking at each other with so much love and adoration in their eyes it feels like your heart is getting curb stomped against the sidewalk. they don't really know what fan service is and they can go weeks without seeing each other (the drought eras), but when they do hang out they usually go out to eat and swim together (preferably at the pool in sea's condo after jimmy drives him back)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
..not sure why this came out as a sales pitch tbh ;;;;;; honestly there are a lot of things i could add and if i were to convince you to like them i should probably send you links to videos and stuff like that but. im not really good with this sort of things ;;;;;; (i guess i could still suggest you to watch their praew interview to have an idea of their dynamic)
in the end all i can tell you is why i personally like them, which is mainly because what transpires of their relationship feels very genuine to me and they seem to be really sweet boys who just stand in their introverted corner minding their business doing their own thing portraying high romance and giving incomprehensible levels of adoration derangement goofiness talent ability skills. THEY ARE JUST SO COMFORT SHAPED TO ME IDK WHAT ELSE TO SAY
Can't help but wonder why you decide to add a poly route? I'm genuinely interested, because Ash is clearly in love with the MC for a long time and he seems very protective, possessive even. He's more like a man who's rather sacrifice his own personal happiness for MC's good. Like if they are happy, even if not with him, that's OK. But share them with someone else? Hm. I really want to know why you decided to add poly option and not make a love triangle instead? It would fit right in story.
In my opinion, love triangle needs more time and space to build up properly for it to work nicely and add to the angst factor. It might work well for book series like Wayhaven, for example, especially since Wayhaven is a romance book first and foremost.
Meanwhile, Vendetta has always been a story/book that is focused on the action first instead of the romance, so there’ll be not much room in the packed upcoming chapters to really do a love triangle justice and this is a single book story.
In short, love triangle needs the slow burn for it to be effective, and my story doesn’t have the space for that.
And Ash is only willing to share MC with Rin and no one else, hence there are no poly routes with Ash/Santana or Ash/Skylar. The reason why is because Ash knows that logically, Rin is a better match for MC than them and they feel guilty for feeling jealous of Rin and prioritizing their own feelings over what’s best for MC and the family. So, if there’s a way where Ash can still be with MC but also MC and their family still get the benefits from marrying Rin, then they would take it.
Also, Ash actually respects Rin deep down inside ever since they and MC were all kids, they just don’t want to admit it out loud (Little Rin wouldn’t let them live it down 😂) The same cannot be said with Santana and Skylar now in the story, who are complete strangers to Ash.
I explain the way Ash thinks about it in more detail here.
[[Oh yeah watch out cause these takes are HAWT
1:
Wyll isn’t boring, he’s just black.
But not in the way you’re thinking. I’ve had this opinion for a few years now but each time I say it, it never fully comes out in the way that I mean so just bare with me.
I haven’t played all of Wyll’s storyline, hell, I ain’t even finished the game yet but I think the “Wyll is boring” debate is apart of a larger problem. From the perspective of a black woman…Wyll is a token. Not in the typical way. He has personality, story and whatnot but like…It’s very obvious to me that he is the “single black man that only exists to hit the diversity quota so no one mentions the all white cast” which is what he is to me. It’s obvious in so many other games. Fallout 4’s Preston Garvey, is just off the top of my head. Wyll is the diversity pick but they still need to write him a story and whatnot, so fine, but no no no he can’t be anything bad because it’s a bad look to have the ONLY black companionship be a rogue or urchin AND ESPECIALLY NOT A BARBARIAN. So lets make him a warlock that fights for justice and good, fine! And he’s kind hearted and sweet and sort of cookie cutter so they cover alllll their bases. Which again, is what they did with Preston Garvey. Leader of the Minute Men that fight for good, justice, sugar spice n everything nice.
BECAUSE if they wrote then any other way there would be backlash BECAUSE none of these white writers actually know how to write a black person that is remotely evil or bad or complicated without turning them into a stereotype or being afraid that they’ll do that. BUT THATS JUST HOW I FEEL ABOUT HIS PERSONALITY.
ONTO THE STORY.
He’s the token so they intentionally put less effort into it.
Well, not INTENTIONALLY. I don’t genuinely believe Larian is just a studio full of old timey racists that put micro aggressions in their game to spite us black ppl but like, even if subconsciously, I feel like they definitely did not look at Wyll’s story the same way they looked at Karlach’s or Shadowheart’s AND DEFINITELY NOT ASTARION’S.
BUT AGAIN I DID NOT FINISH IT SO I COULD COMPLETELY BE TALKING OUT OF MY ASS WHICH I WILL ACCEPT but from the perspective of someone who’s watching all the drama of this unfold like…y’know, SOMETHING is wrong if this many people claim he’s “boring”. BUT ALSO, a percentage of those people ARE actually racist and just didn’t play his story at all so🤷🏾‍♀️
2:
Astarion as a whole and his storyline are so beloved because he is a man. I will not elaborate at this time.
3:
The customization in this game is actually atrocious. I mean I know WHY they did it the way that they did but preset faces instead of slider options and it works well! But like…yeah not satisfying at all. It feels more like I have to settle for a character that looks “good enough” rather than a character that actually looks good. God forbid I want them to actually look like me if I’m picking one of the human/elf races. Do not get me started on hair options.
Fun fact, I actually dislike Aljari hairstyle. Those braids are just one of the 5 black hairstyles we’ve been provided and the only hairstyle that was actually a good design and texture for him.
4:
Baldur’s Gate 3 and many games like it have bias toward white people because when people think D&D and fantasy they think white people and we should really and truly undo this thinking. White people are not the “default”. Everyone should play these games without realizing their identity is clearly an afterthought.
I’m so soft how wukong, bajie, and wujin really feel like brothers. Sanzang is like the dad friend but sometimes I feel like wukong sees them as equals too. Their dynamic is hard to pin down.
Tumblr media
THEY CARE ABOUT EACH OTHER A LOT OKAY! I know people always judge them at first glance BUT THEY HAVE EACH OTHER BACKS!
I know it’s hard to pin down how they feel about each other because they have gone through a lot and have been shits to one another on more than one occasion at the same point it’s kind of that “everyone pointing fingers at everyone” until they realize that all in the same boat.
Like sure none of them find the journey a walk in the park let alone a vacation. It’s hard work.. and it’s EIGHTY-ONE trials!! They are here because it starts off as coworkers to get back to their previous positions. Bajie and Wujing and BaiLong want to get back to their high positions, Wukong wants to get out of the mountain, and Sanzang is wanting to focus only on the mission. It a mutual cooperation where they just have to be civil to one another at LEAST and bear with each at MOST.
But that isn’t the case. They bicker, the complain, they fuck with one another almost daily cause they are either bored and looking for a good laugh. And they could have kept that up if they didn’t start relying on one another. How with each fight and each demon they couldn’t just keep each other at arms length is they want to survive. They have to start working together. It’s always fighting for their lives and always having to be suspicious and be on edge with not knowing who can be a friend or foe. And I think it really creates a kind of, “normally I would never speak to these kinds of people, but due to circumstances I have grown to know them and care for them as I would my own limbs.” Like they have a dynamic to rely on one another and shoulder the other because while they know they can’t do this without any one of them missing they also grew to feel they don’t WANT to.
They go from strangers to coworkers to brothers in arms…
I think this is why the Three Daoist arc is one of my favorites because it has this one single moment that always sticks with me and it’s a detail I don’t get to see often and I’m just glad that it is still there after all this time.
Tumblr media
They just genuinely enjoying each others company… they cause trouble sure eating offerings but they are doing it together.
And honestly, Sanzang is the dad friend. Another detail I always feel like people overlook is that he is actually a very cautious person and always worries if Wukong, Bajie, or Wujing have to go fight. If they enter a valley that is clearly demon-infested he’s usually the one to say it first “maybe we should go around to avoid trouble” but Wukong or Bajie would always assume they can handle it or that going around is even LONGER. Like they are gods and yes they do get caught up in mischief but in the end there is no length they would go whether it bothering heaven or breaking down hell's gates to get the assistance they need to save each other asses.
It actually reminds me of the idea of soldiers, and how that kind of comradeship is built not only through hardship, but knowing that there was something at the end of that hardship that they are fighting for. Like Wujing and Bajie experienced soldiers and Wukong a warlord they have all seen the fair show fighting but it’s in a United front that they game through each battle and overuse of constant protecting and defending and even in the quiet moments of living and enjoying each other company do they start to see each other as a family.
And Wukong and Sanzang I feel start off with really not trusting one another to even being scared or hating one another. Wukong just saw Sanzang as an obstacle in his path and tried to kill him and Sanzang didn’t trust Wukong AT ALL after seeing how he treats both humans and demons. But it’s only slowly through time that Sanzang has to realize that he was wrong all along. That people can change and Wukong is one of them, and that it isn’t fair to judge him as irredeemable just cause his first instinct is to attack first and ask questions later. And Wukong was wrong about Sanzang as well. He grew to not care about anybody weaker than him that wasn't his monkeys to care about Sanzang so much. He goes from telling Sanzang to shut up and stop crying to being the one to cry when he gets kidnapped. He throws himself in his studies so much to learn about Buddism, rivaling Sanzang himself that they talk to each other equally when it comes to the scriptures. Wukongs goals slowly change from trying to repay Sanzang to wanting to get the scriptures himself, to get the ripe fruit he wants as well. And they end up both as Buddhas in the end, another highlight of how they both came to a common conclusion, how they started at each other throats but ended in the same place with the same goal and on the same level at the end.
They really start to see each other as their family, not just cause of being disciples but cause they have those dynamics. Sanzang always worries and tries to offer advice and listen even though he doesn’t know how to help beyond that, Wukong pranks them all while still being the first to defend cause ONLY HE gets to fuck with these guys, Bajie just gives off such middle-child energy honestly always wants attention and special privileges, Wujing being the favorite but also underestimate every single time despite giving words of wisdom and encouragement, and BaiLong always there but never offers any input kind of friend. Quiet but he is appreciated.
I feel like they didn’t get along for the longest time, even years, but that they still stuck with one another through each trial made a kind of bond that can’t be just “friend” or even “comrade”.
At least that’s how I like to see it…
… fuck this is such a good story.
For the prompt thingy you reblogged—BTS for chapter 8 of Crocodile and Parakeet, “Foils” :)
(I should note that I’ve never really watched a DVD commentary before but here’s what I was thinking when I wrote this :))
Overview:
When writing Trust Issues I was already exploring how Ava and Gregory were foils naturally. Then I saw people discussing the possibility of an Ava/Gregory/Janine throuple and while I respect people who believe in it, I genuinely don’t think it could ever work because Ava and Gregory would piss each other off so much. (And in my head they would tug of war over Janine.) Then I thought “what if they were married and fighting over the same girl?” Obviously that didn’t end up being how this fic played out but that was ultimately how this fic was born. They both, to me, just would take such different approaches to wooing Janine and I thought it would be an interesting way to explore how Ava and Gregory are foils. (I also think this helps Janine explore her sexuality a bit, something she didn’t really get to do with Tariq).
Passages:
Like many public school teachers, Janine was forced to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. She’d gotten the evening shift at one of the local Starbucks, and there was one woman who showed up every time she was on shift.
I follow a bunch of teachers on Instagram and Iove that they share their stories of being on the job and how their lives were/are affected by teaching. A lot of them talked about how, especially with a single income, that a lot of times they had to work a second or third job to make ends meet so I was like “well Janine has a nice ass apartment close ish to a city and a single income so it’d be more realistic if she worked a second job”. I also love the idea of a coffee shop au so I decided to make it a barista job. (I also figured that the shifts she could take on would align more relationally with her schedule, but I could be wrong on this because I’ve never worked at Starbucks.)
From taking her order, Janine learned that her name was Ava. She was tall and curvy, with long, dark hair and a signature smirk that caused Janine to flush every time it was directed at her. Ava always wore subtle gold jewelry and came in with new acrylics every week, so Janine assumed that the woman had money.
I wanted to incorporate subtle indicators of wealth because I feel like they’re not super emphasized on the show. (I feel like Ava is wealthier than she lets on, with her influencer incomes and her boyfriend being a famous basketball player, though that second factor isn’t applicable to this fic.) It also helps isolate her presence in the fic to Janine so that Janine senses that Ava has some other intentions other than buying a drink.
It always begged the question as to why Ava would come to Starbucks when she could clearly afford better coffee.
I included this line in particular because I know people who don’t love Starbucks coffee and I thought it be a funny line to include. Also Ava to me comes off as the kind of person who’d have the potential to be picky and randomly pretentious about coffee.
[…]
“I’m sorry,” Janine said as she pulled away, and Gregory’s face was back to its stoic blankness. “I like you, like a lot, just… not like that.” She looked down at her lap and fiddled with her fingers, worried that Gregory would insult her or feel as if he was led on. She wasn’t trying to lead him on, she honestly wasn’t, she just didn’t realize that she was only attracted to him platonically, not romantically.
“I didn’t try to lead you on,” Janine said, her voice growing softer with every word. She was also trying to hide her panic, which was growing with every second that Gregory remained silent. If there was anything Janine hated more than conflict, it was silence. She talked more when she anticipated an awkward silence, though it often served to just make things feel more awkward.
Gregory merely sighed, seeming to sense that Janine would say that.
“It’s okay.” He actually looked a little relieved. “I’m just glad you told me now.” Gregory still looked a bit defeated, which made Janine look down guiltily, but then Gregory was wrapping his arm around her again.
“Hey, Janine. It’s fine.”
Janine wanted to cry. He was so attentive, even when he knew he was being rejected, and Janine wished that she felt more attracted to him for his sake rather than feeling obligated to be attracted to him because he was attracted to her.
One of my trope pet peeves is when fic authors make possible love interests assholes for no reason. Like obviously sometimes it’s warranted (especially if they’re an asshole in canon) but otherwise to me it feels like a cop out. At the time I wrote this (and I still stand by this), I felt like Gregory would be disappointed that Janine didn’t like him back, but he would understand that she’s still trying to figure things out. She’d been with one man for 12 years, mainly her formative years where she would’ve otherwise explored aspects of herself like sexuality and crushes and dating and how to be single. And I felt like Janine would feel guilty because the whole thing, on the surface, appears like a set up. She asks him herself on a date, already a massive achievement for her, and then they make strides throughout the date just for Janine to realize in the moment that she doesn’t want him. Ultimately it was easier for me to write a Gregory rejection than an Ava one. I wanted to showcase that Gregory was mature and capable of growth, that he could be the best friend Janine needed without taking the rejection too personally (or, at least, not actively blame Janine for it).
“So what makes you think you stand out from the rest of the applicants I have on my desk?”
I stared at the tiny woman sitting across from me. Even though she looked incredibly fragile, she was one of the most intimidating people I had ever met. I had gone through plenty of interviews before and not once has someone left me this nervous.
I quietly cleared my throat and refocused my attention directly on her. “Miss Park, I know you more than likely have plenty of other people you can choose from. And where some of them might have a working history geared more towards your liking, I feel like someone who hasn’t been tainted by any sort of industry will be a better outlook when it comes to working for a company like yours. They have no biases or previous judgements to go off of and are the equivalent of a blank slate.”
She raised an eyebrow and quickly jotted down some notes on her notebook. After every single answer she would repeat this same exact process. I couldn’t tell if she was writing down what I had said or just her thoughts on it. Regardless it didn’t help calm my nerves any less.
She clicked her pen and laid it flat on the table before pulling her elbows up to the table. “Let me be up front with you Miss Y/N, I like you.”
I felt the air catch in my throat as I tried to not let my emotions show on my face. Thankfully the black mask I was wearing hid most of it but my eyes have always been what give me away. “You like me?” I asked, my voice cracking instantly.
“I do. I like your honesty. You know, every other person I have asked that same question to has told me just about the same thing, and it’s always about how they themselves are a great person because of x amount of reasons. I’m looking at it from a company aspect and that’s not the answer I want. I want to know how they’ll better my company. Now, your answer was different. It was genuine, and I like that.” She leaned back in her chair and opened the top drawer of her desk. She pulled a small packet out and slid it across the table at me. “You do realize everything you do for and at this company is strictly confidential. Regardless of your status here, you share nothing with anyone outside of me and those higher up than me. Do I make myself clear?”
I looked down at the packet she had slid in front of me and felt my heart flip when I saw it was a consent form of employment. I glanced back up at her and noticed her expression had softened ever so slightly. “I’m sorry I’m just slightly confused. Do I have the job?”
She nodded and clicked her pen once more, sliding it on top of the packet of paperwork. “If you want it,” she said matter of factly.
“Of course I want it! I accept! But, I guess I’m just confused as to why?”
She crossed her slender arms in front of her chest and leaned back in her chair. “There’s something about you that I trust already. I don’t feel like you’re here to get close to my many idols. I feel like you’re legitimately here to work, to better yourself, and do that for a company you already have a lot of pride in.”
I grabbed the pen and moved the paperwork closer to me. “All of that is true…I just—“
“Do you want the damn job or not?” The slight hostility behind her voice made me jump ever so slightly in my seat as I quickly started signing my name by the many highlighted areas. “Good choice,” she said proudly as she made sure I signed and initialed everywhere I needed to. I slid it back across the desk to her as she got up and walked around towards me. “Now let me make one thing clear. You’re an intern here. However, you can easily move up if you show enough potential. We pay our interns here but it’s the minimum wage our company offers. You want a higher salary? Prove your worth to me. As an intern, you will do anything and everything anyone asks if you. Given if it’s beyond a reasonable doubt, illegal, or violates any and all of our procedures, then you will clearly deny those requests. Requests can come from management such as myself, your fellow employees, and even the idols themselves.”
“The idols?”
She smiled as she stuck her hand out towards me. “Yes, even the idols. To be blunt with you once more, you might wind up working close to some of them. They’ve been known to pick an intern and use them as their personal assistants before in the past. That would be a considerable promotion that does happen regularly here.” I grabbed her hand as she firmly shook mine, her grip rivaling that of an average woman of her size. “Y/N, welcome to JYP Entertainment.”
————————————————————
I had worked at JYP for at least two weeks before I had my first encounter with an idol, and that idol was none other than Christopher Bang that night in the practice room. Since then I couldn’t help but be even more nervous every time I came into work. So far I love the job but the only issue is the hours are all over the place. Today I was told to come in around 4:00 PM as I’m supposed to help with a shopping order.
Being an intern has definitely proved what being someone’s errand girl is. I’ve gotten so many coffee and dry cleaning orders since my first day working that the people working at those places know me by name. I didn’t mind it though. Having to run errands like this gave me a chance to see just a little bit more of Seoul. I’ve only lived here a couple months and I have been too nervous to venture too far away from my small apartment.
I scanned my badge at the front desk as I waved at the security guard. I don’t know much about him other than his name is Jin and he’s one of the nicest employees here.
“Late night again Y/N?” He asked cheerfully as I stopped by his desk.
I nodded and adjusted my lanyard back around my neck. “It sure is. But today is kind of different. I’m apparently going shopping?”
He looked at his watch and smiled. “Ah it is Friday. He usually always makes a market run on Friday nights.”
“Who does?” I asked even more curious to know who I might be with tonight.
His smile widened as he waved his hand at me. “I don’t want to say in case I’m wrong. I’ve been wrong several times in my life before. Hence why I’ve divorced three women.”
We laughed quietly at his little joke together as I looked down the hall. “Now don’t be saying that Jin. You just haven’t found the right one yet!”
He looked down and shook his head. “Yeah maybe. You better get going. Don’t want my friend to get in trouble with the boss lady.”
We both waved as I quickly ran down towards the elevator. I couldn’t help but let my mind race as I tried to imagine who I was going to be helping tonight. I watched as the number slowly ticked down on the elevator screen. “It’s just shopping. You’ll probably be with another intern.”
The door dinged as I walked into the elevator. My head still down I didn’t notice anyone inside until I felt my body collide with another person. “I’m so sorry!” I said loudly as I looked up. My entire train of thought was frozen as I saw not only my boss but—
“Felix?!” I half yelled before quieting myself down.
The blonde headed man brushed his shirt off but immediately drew his attention to me. “Are you okay? I’m so sorry I shouldn’t have been right in front of the door.”
“Don’t mind her Felix. I’m sure she’s fine. It’s perfect timing though that we run into you here Y/N.” Miss Park hit the button to keep the elevator door open as she motioned for me to step back out into the hallway. “You’re helping Felix shop.”
“M-me?!” I said, the shock still evident in my voice. As she stepped out of the elevator she motioned for us to follow her down the hallway. “I don’t believe I stuttered,” she said matter of factly. She led us to a small room and shut the door once Felix and I were both inside. “Y/N, this is a big step for you and I trust you will do it well.”
Felix motioned for me to sit down as he took the seat next to me. “What is this big step ma’am,” I asked, my voice mellowing out even though inside I was still shaking.
She walked around and grabbed a bottle of water out of the small fridge, handing one to Felix and myself which was unusual for her to offer me anything. “We’ll wait just a couple more minutes. He should be here shortly.”
I tried to look at Felix without making it obvious but he quickly broke that barrier between us. “So you’re Y/N that I’ve heard so much about, huh?”
I looked over at him and felt my whole heart stop at his smile. I’ve seen it millions of times in videos and pictures but seeing it in person was a whole different feeling. “Y-yes…I mean…I think so? Wait, you’ve heard of me?” There’s the crack in my voice again.
Felix chuckled, his deep voice reverberating in his chest even as he laughed. “If you’re the one from the practice room then yeah, it’s you.”
“Practice room?” I asked looking between him and Miss Park. “What do you mean by that?”
There was a slight knock on the door before I heard it open. “Sorry I’m late, we got held up in a little bit of traffic.”
No way…there’s no way!
“That’s typical for a Friday evening. Don’t worry, we just got here moments ago,” Miss Park said, her entire demeanor happy now. I couldn’t blame her though not when she’s talking to him.
I heard the shuffling of a bag being dropped to the floor and the sound of footsteps coming towards me. I kept my head slightly down, I didn’t want to ruin anything by looking up too quickly. I saw a hand pull out the chair on the opposite side of me, the all too familiar silver chained bracelet hanging loosely around the wrist. I watched as the rest of him came into view behind my bangs. He moved closer towards me and gently tapped on the table in front of me. “Hey you,” he said in the sweetest of tones.
I glanced up and sure enough, there he was once again, Christopher Bang.
I felt my heart beat faster than it ever had before. He had smiled at me the other night in the practice room but this smile was something different. There was something much more familiar feeling to it. Almost as if we both knew each other and had for years and years.
“Let me cut to the chase now that he’s here. Y/N, Christopher, would like you to work with them. As per any idols request if they want someone specific to work with them, we grant them that wish.”
I looked at her in the same way I did weeks ago when she first offered me the job. “Miss Park, I’m…I'm honored but might I ask why? I’ve only been here a couple weeks?”
She glanced towards Chris who quickly turned back towards me in his seat. “I have heard about you from some of the other people here. You yourself just said you have only been here for a short while but you’ve made enough of an impact that we, Stray Kids, have heard about you. That is something we haven’t seen this early on.”
I felt like my ears were hearing one thing and my brain comprehending another. I looked back over towards Felix who you could tell was agreeing with Chris. I was too nervous to look at Chris for too long and looked back at my boss. “But surely there’s already someone that helps you guys, right?”
She shook her head and leaned up against the table. “There was, but unfortunately they had to be let go. That was almost two months ago and Stray Kids have been doing all the extra things by themselves. Things like shopping.” She looked at the three of us and then focused back on me. “Chris has never personally requested someone before. I wouldn’t be offering this to you this early on had he not said anything. Now, don’t take that as I would never promote you. It’s just never happened this quickly before.” She smiled and her whole demeanor softened in front of me for the first time ever. “If I had any doubt in my mind about your ability to pull this off, I wouldn’t proceed with it.”
I felt a knot grow in my stomach. They, Stray Kids, were the reason I came here. Not to be in their business or bother them, but to just work with them. Even if it meant delivering them coffee and doing their chores, I wanted the opportunity to meet the people who truly changed my life for the better.
“Do you accept the job?” Felix asked as he leaned up on the table by his elbows.
I quickly nodded as my voice raised higher than it should have in front of all of them. “Of course I do!”
Felix smiled brightly and Chris bounced happily in his chair. They both seemed delighted with this decision and that made me feel even more nervous.
“Excellent, now I hate to run out so quickly but I have a dinner to get to. Y/N meet me in my office Monday at 10 and we’ll update your agreement. From now on I’m still one of your bosses but I’m no longer your direct boss.”
“Oh?” I asked and cocked my head to the side. “Who is then?”
I felt a sudden warm presence next to me as I looked over and Chris had moved his chair closer to me. “I am.” The smile on his face could bring me back to life at that moment in time. “And don’t worry, I’d like to think I’m nicer than Miss Park.” He looked over her way and winked, they clearly had a strong working relationship and that meant they had a lot of trust in one another. I knew she meant it when she said she was going off of his judgment when it came to this decision.
She smiled once more, said her goodbyes, and walked out the door. Felix stood up and extended his hand out to me. “Ready to go?” He asked, that smile still not leaving his face.
“Wait, where are you going?” Chris asked as he looked at the two of us. It seemed like his eyes locked on to the fact that for a brief moment, Felix and I held hands. Surely that was just my imagination though.
“Shopping. We are completely out of food at our dorm.”
Chris picked his bag up and slung it around his shoulders. “Well let me come too. We’re out of a bunch of things and the three of us will knock this trip out in no time.” He looked directly at me and cocked his head slightly to the side. “That is if you’re fine with me crashing your little adventure.”
That knot in my stomach became more evident as I stood there just basking in the fact that once again I was talking to him. “I…uh…” I shook my head and heard the both of them laugh softly. “I don’t mind! The more the merrier!” I quickly turned around and headed towards the door. “Shall we go?” I needed out of this room immediately before I collapse on the floor.
Chris nodded as he and Felix proceeded to follow me. “Ren is out front still. I told him not to leave unless I texted him otherwise.”
Felix clicked his tongue and slid his phone back down in his pocket as we all three headed out into the hallway. “Ah so we have the suburban. Wonderful! That means we’ll have plenty of space for all the snacks!”
“I take it Ren is a driver?” I asked, still trying not to focus too much on Chris and more so on the path that led outside.
He nodded and continued to look straight ahead. “Indeed. He’s the one that mainly drives just us places. He’s very nice, I’m sure you’ll enjoy his company.”
I slowed my pace ever so slightly as I felt like I was walking in front of them. He led us outside to an all blacked out vehicle as he waved at the driver. You couldn’t tell anyone was even in the car with how dark the windows were.
I headed towards the front door and felt a hand grab my arm. I looked down and could already tell it was his hand. “Where are you going? You’re sitting in the back with me.”
“What!?” I half screamed and instantly slapped my hand against my mouth. He chuckled and flashed that cute little dimple of his as he smiled wider. “Felix prefers to sit in the front. Unless you would feel more comfortable up front I can have you guys switch.”
Felix stopped and waited for my answer. “No I’m…fine! Perfectly okay with that!” I could only imagine how crazy I sounded out loud because in my head I was cringing at my actions.
“Sweet!” Felix proceeded to open the door and slide in the passenger seat. Before I had the chance to open the back door, Chris quickly opened it for me. I looked back at him and felt my whole body fill with butterflies. “After you,” he said politely.
I slowly got in as he waited to shut the door until I was entirely seated in my chair. He quickly ran around and got in on the other side next to me. After looking down to make sure I had fastened my seatbelt he nodded to the man in the driver's seat. “Alright Ren, we’re ready.” The man nodded and gently put the car in drive.
I could still feel my heartbeat racing behind my chest and prayed it wasn’t as loud to everyone else as it was in my own ears. I kept my eyes focused out the window and tried to distract myself. I have a bad tendency of making no verbal sense whenever I’m nervous and to say I’m nervous right now would be the biggest understatement of the century.
Felix turned around in his seat and glanced back at us. “You okay?” He asked, looking at me as best as he could. I nodded and tried to keep as straight of a face as I could as I smiled at him. He clearly saw through it though and shook his head. “That look tells me otherwise. You know,” he nodded his head over at Chris and raised his eyebrow. “He talked very highly of you.”
I felt the burning feeling of red creep back up into my cheeks as I felt them both looking at me now. I moved around slightly in my seat, adjusting the seat belt to create any sort of distraction for myself. “I don’t really understand why though,” I said quietly, semi hoping neither of them would hear me.
I glanced over and noticed Chris lean back farther in his seat as he placed both hands behind his head, a very relaxed look set on his face. “You have every right to question that. I only talked with you once and it was for a very brief time.” He looked over at me and set my whole heart ablaze as that small dimple peeked out once more at me. “We’ve been looking for someone to help us out since our last guy left, and the idea of having a woman’s touch around the place is nice. Plus you’re very well organized and I appreciate that.”
“Organized?”
He nodded and slid his hands out from behind his head as he settled them in his lap. “Yeah, organized. That night after I walked out to answer the phone I noticed all your things sitting right outside the door. You had them lined up by size and even color. I’m sure you’re well aware but organization is a big thing for me.”
“Are you talking about my cleaning supplies?”
Both the boys chuckled as my voice cracked when I asked the question. I felt like I was making a complete fool of myself but yet they both seemed completely fine with everything happening. “That was cute!” Felix said through his happy smile once he stopped giggling.
Chris pulled his hat off and slid his hand back through his hair. I slightly pouted my cheeks out and felt myself start to finally relax. “I’m glad you find me cute,” I said, joining in on their little spurts of giggling.
“I definitely made the right decision,” Chris said as he locked eyes with me and nodded his head.
We felt the car come to a gentle stop as we had made it to the market Felix wanted to go to. “I’ll stay out here but you three take your time,” Ren said as he looked back at Chris and I from the rear view mirror.
We all three unbuckled our seatbelts and got out of the car. Chris had slid his hat and mask back on as Felix lifted his hood up over his head and secured his own face mask as well. I always knew they had to slightly hide themselves but seeing them like this made my heart twinge in a sharp pain.
I followed suit and put my mask on as well as we headed towards the entrance. Ren had pulled away once we started heading inside and I noticed he went and parked under a shade tree. I looked over at Chris and raised my voice so he’d be able to hear me. “He’s very nice.”
He looked over past my head and glanced in Ren’s direction. “Yeah he’s a good guy. He’s been with us for a long time. You’ll see him quite regularly I’m sure.”
We walked inside and my eyes couldn’t choose what to focus on. I had passed this market several times but never actually came inside as I had always heard it was more expensive on a lot of the items. Felix grabbed a small cart and headed back towards Chris and I. “Will your stuff fit in here too or do you need your own cart?” He asked, looking over at Chris.
He pulled his phone out and looked at the list of things he needed. “Nah, I think we should be good. I need quite a bit but nothing too bulky or anything like that.”
With a nod of his head we ventured farther into the store. The three of us talked and joked as we got the things we needed on both of their lists. Seeing them interact with one another was something I had always enjoyed, but seeing them without cameras on them was a new experience for me. They were so much more laid back and could easily be themselves. It made me happy knowing that I would get to experience this from here on out.
“Oh awesome they finally got it back in!” Chris ran down the aisle and stopped when he made it to the middle section. He grabbed two small cases of soda and happily ran back to us. “The ginger ale I love! They finally have it back!”
Felix squealed and hopped up and down. “I love to cook with that! Grab another case for me if you don’t mind. I don’t want to take yours if I’m using them for cooking.”
Chris slid his hand down on his hip and cocked his head to the side. “Well I wasn’t planning on sharing anyways!” He pulled his mask down and stuck his tongue out before smiling and running back down to grab another case.
“You just have to ignore him sometimes. He truly is five when he wants to be.”
I laughed at the mention of the running joke and watched as he once again carried the case of ginger ale back to us. Even with his mask up I could tell he was grinning from ear to ear underneath it. He set the case in the top part of the cart and looked at his phone once more. “Alright I’m all set. What about you?”
“I was done four aisles ago,” Felix said and started pushing the cart. “Let’s check out.”
We made it up to the checkout lines and I couldn’t help but look around us. Surprisingly no one had said anything or stopped them while we shopped and I was honestly waiting for it to happen. “Are you curious about it?” I felt him brush up against me as we waited for our turn. I nodded, already knowing what he was referring to. “For the most part if we don’t draw attention to ourselves, we’re fine. But this market is really good even if we are recognized, the people are all very respectful.”
“Does it happen often? You guys being recognized, I mean?” I asked my mind racing with the worst case scenarios.
Felix turned and leaned back against the cart as we still were too far away from the belt to start loading our items. “Every day it happens, but like Chris said, there are places where it’s better and some where it’s worse. Seoul has so many idols around it though that a lot of the locals are used to it. They treat us just like any other person.”
“Mhmm, it’s worse when we’re not in Seoul. That’s when we try to be extra cautious.” Chris nodded his head to let Felix know it was our turn and we all three started putting the items up on the belt.
He walked up to the cashier and greeted her happily. “How are you doing today Felix? I was waiting for you to stop in.”
The two started talking and I wiggled my finger for Chris to drop down so I could whisper to him. “She just called him Felix…does she know him?”
I could tell he was smiling once again as he shook his head. “Of course she does. This market knows all of us and are always incredibly kind. Felix and Lee Know do a lot of the shopping so they’re the two everyone knows. But we’re all kind of a packaged deal, so if you know one, you know us all.”
After a couple minutes they finished paying and we started to bag everything up. “Thanks for bringing me. I know it was just a market trip but I actually had fun.” I said and heard them both chuckle happily. They seemed to have a surprisingly fun time as well.
We walked outside and I noticed the sun was starting to set, the sky painted a cotton candy pink. “Of course you’re welcome to come with us. You’ll be joining us for practically everything!” Felix said as he hopped along behind the cart.
“No more caffeine tonight Felix. You’re too hyper as it is.” The tone in Chris’s voice reminded me just why he’s so great at being a leader. It wasn’t a mean tone by any means, but one a father would definitely use on his child.
Felix looked back over his shoulder and pulled his mask down. “Yes daddy.”
He immediately started running with the cart and Chris took off after him. “I told you to stop calling me that!”
I couldn’t help but laugh once again at them. It still feels like I was having an incredibly vivid dream. Regardless if it was some sort of dream, I hadn’t felt this happy in a very long time.
“Hey, you coming?!” Felix yelled back at me and waved his hands. I didn’t even realize just how far ahead they had made it. “Coming!” I yelled and ran towards them, both their faces lit up with the happiest of smiles.
If those smiles was a sight I was going to be seeing every single day, I never, ever want to be woken up from this dream.
