So whats it like having illustration for a job? Or was it graohic design? It was something along those lines right?
i do both actually! to be honest i just call myself a freelancer, since i do whatever people will hire me for. most of my gigs are theatre related, usually stage design + costuming, and then also stage photography/documentation. a lot of my graphic design and illustration work is also usually theatre related as well; i do logo designs for small theatre companies and a lot of posters/graphics + tour marketing campaigns. this book contract i just finished is the biggest illustration job i've done just solely by itself (cover + 13 full page interiors), whereas normally the illustration/drawing work i do is a part of another job; like hand-drawing a logo or doing big scenic painting. the biggest physical 'illustration job' i did was for the set of my thesis show in undergrad, where i painted custom portraits of queen victoria that got blown up to 20ft tall (don't ask), a ted harrison style 30ft mountain range backdrop, and a custom hand drawn+painted 30ft floral mandala for the turntable in the stage. yes that was all for the same show and yes it took me almost a year to design everything.
to get back to your question though, it's like being any other kind of freelance worker, i suppose. i had a lot of fun with this book contract and i'd love to do more, but it just depends on what gigs find me first.

Kermit! Reminiscing... this song was memorable. youtu(.)be/JOMsz-ru2g8 "“The Rainbow Connection” is, in the words of its co-writer Paul Williams, Kermit the Frog's “I Am” song, meaning that it sets him up as a character and provides the motivation that sends him out on those highways and byways. In other words, it lends depth and humanity to a character who is mostly fabric and foam." -The Bluegrass Situation (PW also co-wrote Evergreen with Barbra Streisand featured in A Star is Born).
paul williams is in this two-part episode of the nancy drew/hardy boys mysteries from 1977 called "nancy drew and the hardy boys meet dracula" and i was obsessed with this as a child (amongst a few other episodes, though i enjoyed the whole show) after seeing it in syndication, and watched it every halloween...maybe i STILL watch it at halloween lmaaao 👀🦇
my mom raised me on the carpenters along with everything else i've mentioned, so karen's beautiful voice singing rainbow connection/we've only just begun/rainy days and mondays is indelible in my mind right alongside barbra with songs like evergreen.
i love that about kermit, they really do feel like flesh and blood characters at times, don't they? and so much of that is in the emotional context that could be given to them through emotional context like rainbow connection.

Getting to know your BL mutuals
Okay dudes I was tagged by @littleragondin (hi love thank you for the tag) now let’s see if I’m capable of making decisions 😂
Rules: answer the questions and @ some people. Include the tag ‘g2ky BL mutuals 2022’ on your post so we can find everyone’s answers
What have been the BLs that took you by surprise this year?
Kinnporsche. Look I was sooo scared that I wouldn’t like it alright I had VERY high expectations and I wasn’t expecting it to meet ALL OF THEM
Also secret crush on you. I love that show with my entire heart and soul. It’s just so lovely and sweet and I’m so happy I watched it
And lowkey love in the air that show has no right being that good
What have been the BLs that you felt a bit/a lot disappointed with this year?
Not that many because I usually wait and see how a show plays out before I watch it in its entirety but one I did not finish and probably never will finish is Cutie Pie. It got annoying idk
What has been your favorite BL this year?
I refuse to pick just one SO-
Kinnporsche (is anyone surprised?? I sincerely hope not)
Semantic Error (tol and smol my beloved)
The Eclipse (again. Are we surprised? The answer is no)
Old Fashion Cupcake (soft men being soft)
Between Us (IT COUNTS EVEN THOUGH IT’S ONLY LIKE HALF OUT OKAY)
Narrowed it down to five that’s pretty impressive
Favorite BL couples (not just of 2022)?
Deanpharm (as always), patpran (no I will never move on), akkayan (they are my children and I love them), vegaspete (everyone needs their toxic faves and these are mine), yohan and yeonwoo (I have not seen season 2 lol), Shu yi and Shi de (akshdkdhdkf oh I love them so much), shinwoo and taekyung (they were too precious for this world)
I have more but I’ll spare y’all lol
What’s your non-BL favorite this year?
I’m watching Wednesday and I absolutely love it. Do revenge is an AMAZING movie. So is Wendell & Wild. And the Adam Project. Stranger things season 4 wasn’t my favorite of the show as a whole but I loved it regardless. And a special mention to Taylor Tomlinson’s comedy special “Look at You.” It’s a gem
There we go! As always I’ll tag whoever wants to this! Have fun dudes

Lowkey,,, I want to finish the redesigns for the Admin Members of Team Flare that I posted here on my pokemon blog,,,
Seeing it again just made me think, "I also want to tackle the Sinnoh (for BDSP) and Unova (minus Elesa) gym leader designs" mostly because if ORAS and FRLG/Let's Go gave the Hoenn (I loved them immensely) and Kanto gym leaders redesigns/new outfits, then Sinnoh and Unova deserve them too. Also, it'll be like an exercise to me in terms of design.

I love the idea of the Wayne kids dropping extremely vague and disturbing comments during galas. Especially when in uncomfortable situations or if they're just bored. They pull out things from their nightlife too. Other times they just make shit up.
Socialite: Oh, dear, your cheeks look so sullen! Who sucked the life out of you?
Tim, dead serious: An old man with a goatee.
Socialite: Uh... what?
Dick: Once I broke my knee so badly that I swear I could see part of the bone sticking out.
Socialite: Good lord. How on earth did that happen?
Dick: Just clumsy gymnast things ^^
Socialite: The white streak is certainly a bold fashion choice.
Jason: I saw someone get decapitated once, so I could be doing worse in terms of what's on my head, yknow? At least I have one.
Socialite: What's your favourite colour, sweetie?
Damian: Red.
Socialite: Oh that's lovely!
Damian: Like the blood of my enemies.
Socialite: Oh.
Socialite: You must be new to these kind of events.
Duke: Uh, yeah, they're kind of scary. But I've had worse.
Socialite: Worse.
Duke: Well I've been left on top of a skyscraper before with no way down just to 'get over my fear of heights' so, yes.
Socialite: You don't talk very loud, do you? I can barely hear you.
Cass, with a straight face: If I spoke any louder every glass in the room would shatter.
Tim, behind her: I can vouch.

one of my "special interests" in the past couple of years has been exploring fast fashion vs. slow fashion. it has been a long journey trying to find clothes that actually 1) fit me 2) look good 3) are made from material that is not actively shoving plastic in the ecosystem 4) involve ethical labor, fair trade, fairly compensated, etc
before i did this research, i really had no clue about fabrics or fashion brands. i used to think i had zero interest in fashion, in fact.
i grew up wearing walmart and thrift store clothes, and when i went to college i bought clothes from target and asos. something started to shift a little bit when i found vintage resellers on etsy and ebay... those clothes were so unique. but a lot of the vintage clothes were polyester blends, stiff, and would fall apart as easily as my asos clothes. i would leave them hanging in my closet and never wear them. i would wear the same old t shirts and jeggings every day. i felt like it was impossible to ever wear comfortable clothes, or ever feel good in clothes, so why bother?
it started with linen. linen is very comfortable and pretty sustainable. i was amazed that i didn't feel the urge to rip my clothes off when i wore linen. lightbulb number one.
a friend let me borrow a nooworks dress, and i went to the store and got some overalls. wow. overalls. lightbulb number two. holy shit, you can wear overalls. you know how people say "not binary or non-binary but a secret third thing." that's overalls.
i realized i loved the bonkers prints that nooworks had, and all of it was soft, and made ethically. it was a higher price point than i was used to, which gave me pause. but then you realize: we're not supposed to be buying dumb clothes every other weekend. and isn't a slightly higher price point for soft clothes that you won't want to tear off your body worth it?
so i started my research. i made a spreadsheet. the prices can be all over the place across brands, so i made a column for prices. sizes can be all over the place too -- people always ask me "where is the plus size slow fashion?" it's there. just look at the size column. people say "isn't it better to buy secondhand?" yeah, it is. i have many links to secondhand sources.
if you have any suggestions or additions please let me know, it is a living document.
