I'm a mess (I know most are asleep and I should be too, but shh). Sometimes when I browse Youtube (and talking to Jace about Kafka as a whole, goodness, the walls that I type about this woman), I realize just how much I focus on the... how to classify this, the intricacies of reactions that are vehemently human, and that entire aspect of Kafka that was more so (/especially) presented since and in her SQ, though one I'll also say to have been inherently present before that. It's not that I neglect her violence, not at all, if anything I try to explain this element of her as to firmly tie them in together, though finding the words to do this is quite difficult, as this post will make clear, honestly. I'm a mess, this is a mess, it's a problem. Any way, this is probably why Mihoyo makes such intense use of music to convey so much for her. Cue me putting on her trailer music, and I'm literally making all of the little oddly precise head movements to each bow of the violin in it. Love her.
God, it's just, there are in my opinion, from a normal human's perspective, 'two sides' to the coin that is Kafka, except despite their intense contrasts, they work together to fit into a perfect mold of 'one'. And a good glance into this is their pull of your attention to the music that they composed (and perfectly edited, my god) for her trailer(s), Vivaldi's Winter in her main one but the very important part to note, is that it also includes compositions of Spring (? I now also feel like I recognize a snippet of Summer a glimpse of Autumn) alongside it, which is representative of something wildly differently; and then Lacrimosa in the Jepella Rebellion trailer. God, god. Yes, it's always inherently tied to mourning and grief, and one can argue that it's entirely because of the destruction outside that is happening in due part due to her (and the others; but it's worthy to note that the SH don't destroy for the sake of destroying; it all has purpose, always), but Lacrimosa can also be evident as a reaction from Kafka internally. And I say this, because if memory serves correctly in terms of my weak knowledge but stronger research, it's used within the Requiem Mass, in which it follows a 'divine judgment' movement, and Lacrimosa plays in emotional response to it, a composition displaying sorrow and grief as people seek redemption. So the question now comes— as much as Kafka 'plays with her food' so to say, could you also tie the 'mock trial' in with a response of 'divine judgement' of her own in reaction to, well, divine judgment that was executed prior? Am I making sense? In essence, what exactly is all of this in response to? Could she have been wronged by these judges? Or judgement by default, or does she simply not believe in such judgement? I also still firmly stand on my hill that Kafka has suffered an immense loss before, so could this play into that as well? Does she hold judgment within the palm of her hand because there is grief in her? The layers, guys, the layers. I'm losing my mind.
And then also, slightly unrelated: I see comments like this (and as someone who sadly never go to continue my piano playing), and I thrive, because it tells me that they aimed for this accuracy for her in specific. The violin, guys, one of the instruments if not the primary one that depicts human vulnerability in sound and play. The accuracy tells me even more that it's way too likely that she actively plays the violin. Which means, which means, that I get to thrive even more in terms of layers.. Oh, happy day.
Tumblr media
Point of this entire post? I don't know, consider it the ramblings of a mad woman. There's no such thing as a simple conclusion for Kafka. There is simply... Kafka. A woman who is Destiny's Slave, but also inherently holds and practices her own sense of control in some ways. A woman who knows an ease in violence that we see her partake in by choice (this is so important), and with an element of emotional disengagement (one must, no? Or?) I usher my gratitude for bringing me back here. I'm thriving and will thrive on all 3 accounts.
Post-script: Okay but also:
"The old me? I used to be a Devil Hunter. (...) When people don't feel fear they are dominated by desire and pleasure — they become "devils."
But why are you not one of them? How did you hunt them, instead? /rattles bars of cage.

hahah! i didnt expect haitham's story quest to put in plain text whats wrong with him, but i guess it did all the work for me
Tumblr media
i dont know if i would say that haitham is antisocial, but he does aggressively separate himself from society to the point of wanting to be an "outside observer" who can see things objectively
hes cold and shrewd, but not without morals. he has a good read on people's emotions, and can extrapolate enough from his own knowledge and observations to make some real 5d chess level predictions, and then follow them perfectly
one thing i noticed during the archon quest is that while there were multiple points where a certain move in his plan could be to "test the waters" where the outcome could indicate a change in plans... but none of them were ever revealed to be a test, just another piece in the complete rube goldberg machine falling into place
he also says that the opinions of others dont matter to him, but i think thats untrue! when paimon scolded him (like kaveh, if i dare say so) haitham changed his mind and went from dodging questions, to bringing the player home to explain things
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
on several occasions other characters call him arrogant and/or egotistical, but i feel like either the word choice is off or something was lost in translation
haitham is arrogant in the sense that in separating himself from others, people assume he thinks of himself as above others, but haitham has no illusions of that nature. he is a human who Lives In A Society, and while i dont think he forgets that, he just... never brings attention to that inherent contradiction
there is an impossible ideal hidden in the goal of being objective, as a human being with subjective experiences, and yet alhaitham pursues it anyways. by sticking his grubby scholarly fingers in as many problems that come across his desk as he can, he ends up learning new things, which he needs to do in order to keep up with his impossible, infinitely-unattainable goal
i think instead of control (how i initially read him) haitham instead values his own freedom and autonomy, because he needs it in order to keep pursuing an objective look at reality with the least amount of obstacles as possible
he hates obligation, but will rise to the occasion if it satisfies some amount of curiosity, and counts as knowledge-gathering. and thats all he really wants out of life
honestly, it's easy to read him as unambitious if you don't know him well...
Tumblr media
and this is my obligatory "kaveh doesnt know dick about shit" corner
i think the inherent mirror aspect of the haitham and kaveh dynamic is that haitham has a good grasp on kaveh's damage, while kaveh has absolutely no clue, or is too arrogant to actually put things together
not that its hard! kaveh is an open gotdamn book
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
untrue fanon perception 1: haitham bullies kaveh
(obviously not from the majority of shippers)
whenever haitham has something sincerely mean to say about kaveh, its because kaveh insults haitham first. haitham rarely insults kaveh behind his back
thats not to say he never does it. but its extremely mild in comparison if he does
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if anything i think kavehs the one with the emotional damage to try and instigate an argument with haitham constantly, and try to embarrass him in front of the first guests he ever brought to the house
untrue fanon perception 2: haitham likes kaveh and just hasnt said anything in plain words. for example, this explains why someone as selfish as haitham lets kaveh live with him
heres the screencap everyone likes to grab
Tumblr media
cute right? maybe kaveh is his priority?
hell no. he is subtweeting the hell out of kaveh here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sometimes i wonder if shippers are seeing something other than huffing fumes, and in this case i think the people who ship these two, its a lot of fumes
not that i dont assign partial blame to mihoyo. they know what they did
but i think haitham is interesting, and im sad that people try to sand down his rough edges to make him like... shippable
i dont want to try an debunk the fanon that hes autistic and/or aspec because i dont really think those things can be... debunked. but i guess my 2c on both of those is that i dont personally see it
haitham doesnt avoid [socializing/romance] because its [overwhelming/boring/inscrutable], he avoids it because hes pursuing an impossible ideal and those things in the first category are a means to an end at best, and a nuisance all other times
he is a man of extreme ideals but modest goals. he wants to hold a tape measure to the world, but doesnt see himself as that measure, just that things can be measured, accounted for, and planned around
he is programming the best google maps route between his house and his desk job, and keeping an eye out to optimize other things along the way, not necessarily in the pursuit of absolute social stability, but absolute routine
[holds him up like a potato] i just think he's neat

Dear Father [Genshin Impact/Diluc x Reader]
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Wherever you are wherever you may be, even if you are beyond my reach, I only wish to see you again. -from a letter lost in the wind.
(A story where you and Diluc somehow managed to meet Crepus)
Genre: all fluff
"I know how late I am to father's day but here's my father's day take on Genshin Impact! Just let Diluc be happy for once T_T Mihoyo pls."
============================
Discovering Master Crepus' old belongings was like wandering in a domain surrounded by ancient artifacts. Each piece holding the memory of someone you've never met.
The paintings. Master Crepus loved to paint. Typically birds were the main muse of this portraits since they deeply embodied Mondstadt's values for freedom which shows you how much he cherished this city just like his son did. In almost every hallway you walked through there was a collection of his paintings, some belonged to another artist but the majority was an original work. Diluc didn't have the heart to sell them.
Elzer. He was one of the oldest workers who served under the Ragnvindr name, ever since Master Crepus had appointed him during his earlier days. You were told that he treated everyone, both staff and noble, with equal respect. Almost all the denizens of Mondstadt knew this man for he was not only noble in riches but also in the soul.
"I'm sure he would have loved to meet you in person. Now that I think about it, you and Master Crepus are quite similar. Haha, it seems that Master Diluc was selective in terms of who he wanted for his future bride."
Elzer adds with a light chuckle but the statement only made you more curious. A man who affected the lives of so many others, he must have been a wonderful person.
Diluc. The bloodline Master Crepus left behind after his death, a piece of himself and the heir to the whole wine industry, his son Diluc. Although you could see the resemblance in appearance, both of them were men of prinicples and values, putting Mondstadt first before anything else and you suddenly realized if that was the reason why Diluc was so protective of this city. As if, it were everything he had? You could tell he loved Master Crepus very much, not because he said so, rather the painful expression buried deep within his crimson glare whenever someone brought up the topic. Diluc was skilled in hiding himself, it's something he practiced over the years of working alone, though he lowered his guard as long as you were the only one present.
Even so, he had many conflicts still wringing him internally and you didn't want to push him until the day he felt ready to personally tell you himself.
But it would be nice if he opened up, just a little bit.
There were times when you would worry since Diluc had the tendency to hide his feelings for the sake of not troubling you. He wanted to keep life simple and bright, bringing the best to the table while making sure that you lived safely out of harm's way. You couldn't seem to get him to understand that as lovers, you would be happy to help him, in anything. Unconditionally. It was natural for you to feel the need to force yourself in every once in a while and there was nothing more you wanted to know than the story of the man who raised him.
You would even jest on the idea of what it fel like to meet Master Crepus in person. Were you able to reach his standards by any chance? Would he have liked you just as everyone claimed? Of course, they were only silly indulgent thoughts so you quickly dismissed them in the end. Bringing back the past was impossible no matter how badly you wanted it. You closed your heart on that possibility.
On a lovely evening, while you and Diluc were taking your time off Angel's Share to make a stroll around Mondstadt's quiet streets, a strange merchant called over to you. She displayed various antiques ranging from different sizes to designs, none of them seemed to haven been carved in the same place but distinct cultures throughout Teyvat. The only thing they had in common was that they were all equally beautiful to the eye.
However a particular item of what looks like to be a heart locket snatches your attention and you instantly became mesmerized, allured by it's mysterious charm.
"Ah, the locked heart caught your fancy, my lady? It's said once you open it, you will be set free."
"It's magnificent..." you muttered, staring unabashed at the shining surface.
Diluc who was observing from behind folded his arms and tilts his head, "How much is that?"
Although you intended to simply inspect the choices, your lover immediately offers to pay. They all already gave the impression of a hefty price and you didn't want him to spend his fortune on things that deemed unecessary. Still, this wasn't the first time it happened. Diluc would always insist whenever you protested against him from buying anything, it was just a way of expressing his affections towards you. Mora was never a problem and you were priceless. That's how he sees things. You had to remind yourself to be careful when stumbling upon a bustling area full of salesmen next time.
"Five hundred thousand mora."
He purchased it without hesitation.
On your way home, Diluc noticed that something was amiss. You couldn't tear your gaze from the locket as if it had hypnotized you by the golden smooth surface. He had to ensure you didn't run into anyone by accident, tugging your arm closer so that it gave him an opportunity to lead you where you yourself could not. Surely it must have been the appearance but instead of being drawn by, you were drawn in. Completely.
I wonder...what will happen if I open it?
"(Y/n)?" Diluc narrows his eyebrows together. Did you like it that much? No, he knew you weren't the type to be so etranced by jewelry, this was certainly different. Even the merchant seemed a little suspicious when she approached you and Diluc couldn't ignore the heavy sense of aminosity that was emitted around her aura. He couldn't think within her presence but now that his mind was much clearer, he was able to use his skillful judgements.
"Wait...! Don't open it yet-"
However, he was too late.
The wind picks up at an alarming speed and you both brought up your arms to block the debris that had flown in the way. They swirled in non-stop motion until your worlds were engulfed with not even the sky in sight. Amidst the turmoil Diluc latchest onto you and holds your body close his chest as he was determined to protect against any force that dared to hurt you. Something heavy knocks his head and he winces, tighting his hold even further. Your voice could hardly be heard with all the noise that rung around and eventually you discovered the the world wasn't disappearing. You both were.
The last thought you had was the image of Master Crepus and you didn't know why.
---
"Diluc? Diluc?"
He faintly heard his name through a series of echoes. Diluc fights to regaind concousness, feeling your grip upon his shoulder while trying to urge him awake.
"Diluc are you alright?"
Your worried face was the first thing he sees other than the fog that looms above. Diluc blinks a few times in an attempt to ease his migraine, using one arm to force his body into a seating position as he allowed himself to be supported by you at the same time.
"Does your head hurt?" You ask, palming gently against his forehead to feel the heat. Even if her was usually very warm, there was no unusual rise in tempurature, something must have hit him instead, "Here, maybe this will help."
Bringing out your hand you concentrated on generating the water through your fingertips. Having a hydro vision meant you were capable of healing magic which Diluc appreciated since he often came home late at night with injuries hidden behind his sleeves. But nothing came out and he became even more suspicious of the situation.
"Eh? What's going on?" You blurted out, patting down your clothes and your pockets, "My Vision, it's gone too!"
"Mine as well," Diluc flexes his fingers to test his own element, "It seems that our powers were sealed once we entered this domain."
"A domain that prevents you from using a Vision? That doesn't sound very comforting," you scratched your head, suddenly remembering the cause of your current problem, "The locket...it's all starting to make sense now. Ugh, I should have listened to you earlier, I'm sorry Diluc."
"No (Y/n), you don't have to apologize," he interjects and you returned a curious glance, "I should have stopped you the minute I discovered there was something strange. I was too careless."
"You felt that too? I thought I was the only one," your tone and face mimics one of surprise. The fog continues to dance around, enclosing the two of you to the small area. You lifted your head and looked above in deep contemplation, "When I saw the locket I couldn't tear my eyes off of it, like something was pulling me in. Like...there was a spell casted on it."
"What do you mean?" he asked in an inquisitive manner.
You nod, "I can't put my finger on it bit Ifel that the locket wanted me to..." balling your fist upon your lap, you stared intensely at the floor as if drilling holes into them while digging into the depths of your mind for any specific clues. Initially you thought the locket was so captivating that you were simply charmed by it's craftmanship. But tere was more than that, you began deciphering, there was also a need for fulfillment. A yearning desire, "to know. The locket was calling me to know."
'Once you open it, you will be set free.'
"To know..." you trailed off. How strange. No matter how much you tried to rationalize, you were always brought back to the same square as if the locket knew exactly what you wanted. What you were lacking. Because the one thing you wanted to know most about was the person you've never met, "Someone very important to you."
The fog dispersed.
Diluc instinctively puts an arm in front of you defensively as he scanned his quick and thorough eyes around the area. It didn't take long for him to know exactly where everything was. In fact, the abrupt change isn't what puts him on high alert, but it was how familiar everything looked to the point he evaluates if there was any reason to be skeptical or if he should be breathtaken.
"What a beautiful house," However you didn't recognize it. Diluc knew because he had yet to meet you during the time he lived in this estate, "I wonder who does it belong to?"
"Father's old mansion...how?" Diluc breatlessly mutters, as if seeing the supremecy of Celestia for the first time. When years passed after his father died, he chose to sell off the majority of his belongings, the mansion being on for example. Currently it was in the possession of a well-known business associate that used to be a friend of Crepus. The mansion would likely have looked much different due to the renovations it gone through but Diluc remembers the picture as if this were yesterday. Everything was in tact. The vine yard, the gazebo where they drank tea, the hill that he and Kaeya used to race on when they were kids-
Revelation burns in his pupils as his eyes expanded.
"Welcome home, my son."
Both you and Diluc fall wordless at the sight that appeared like a miracle's blessing. Crepus stands at a distance, the graceful smile complimenting his warm features. He looked exactly how the court artists portrayed him in the Ragnvindr's family picture. Sharp face with gentle eyes and an aura that was as pleasant as what Elzer described.
"So this is why the locket was calling to us," you whispered, "I guess the mora really was worth it after all."
"...Fa...ther...."
You snuck a glance at Diluc. From behind the resemblance was as clear as dawn, like you were staring at a carbon copy of Master Crepus himself. Almost. He was a less hardened version of Diluc during uncommon situations. It made you think just how much you didn't know before his father passed away. What kind of person was this man during his days as a knight? You never had the chance to know.
"Father is that really you?" Diluc couldn't help his voice from trembling, paralyzed in place when he could hardly make sense of what stands in front of him. The person he longed to hear from, the person who left the world too quick, Diluc was afraid to get his hopes up in case his father suddenly disappeared and everything was just an illusion conjured by his mind. He was already used to being betrayed and dealt with disappointment too often. Which is why he learned to trust only himself. But, right now, can he really trust himself?
Feeling your hand gently on his shoulders, Diluc was brought back to reality. You smiled with warm reassurance that bled into your voice, "It's okay Diluc. Go, I'm here for you."
There was the faintest light shining in his eyes as emotions swell in his chest. Ever since you came Diluc never had to feel alone anymore, truly, you were the light that was brought back into his eyes, to his life when he gave up the thought of seeing it again. If he couldn't trust himself then at the very least, he could trust you.
"Thank you," he embraces you wholly like you were everything, and you were, before letting go and taking off to the otherside.
The air hits him in a rush and knocks the ones out of his lungs, "Father!" Diluc yells with tearful eyes. For the first time in a long while he was finally letting his feelings run free, "Father!" A name that felt foreign upon words that is pushes him forward, wanting to claim the truth that was smiling from afar.
"Father!"
Crepus lifted his arms and openly catches Diluc when he crashed into him. Here. He was here. He certainly was.
"Haha its been a while hasn't it my son?" He begins, encasing Diluc in a hug like he did the day he turned eighteen. Crepus was a tall man and his genes seemed to have went through. Back when they were younger, Diluc managed to only reach the blade of his shoulders, just barely. Now they were practically the same height, "Look how much you've grown over the years. There were so many things I planned to say but I don't know where to start."
Seven years. That was how long Crepus spent alone with his thoughts. He saw what happened through that time span, the truth about the Knights and Kaeya's origins. To say that none of that bothered him would be a lie. Especially when his son was the most impacted throughout all the events.
"Father I...I-" Diluc tries to speak but the words dissolved the moment it reached his tongue. He wasn't the type to be very good at expressing emotions. None of it could simply be communicated by sentences. For him, actions spoke louder yet somehow, they still wouldn't be enough. Nothing can comprehend the weight of seven years.
Crepus seemed to have understood and fills in the gap instead, "I have also missed you and Kaeya. More than I can even say. It must have been so hard for you both to endure it all by yourselves. Life hits us when we least expect it but despite that, you still chose to persevere."
Diluc clenches his hold, face buried in his shoulders and mouth quivering as he barely answers, "Yeah."
"You're both my pride and joy no matter what happens, as a father I cannot be more proud," before knowing, everything that was said came out naturally from his spirit. Crepus may have his own set of things to share but he knew what Diluc needed the most, "So please don't stop relying on one another, don't always think that you have to do everything alone. Stength is a virtue. However, its okay to let go and allow new people to come into your life. I don't need to be avenged, as long as you and Kaeya are happy, its all I ask for."
As if the world had been lifted from his shoulders, Diluc allows himself to break just this once. On the outside, he was known to be an unstoppable force, the Mondstadt tycoon, the uncrowned king and a hero who serves at night. But here you saw only a boy who dearly missed his father as he hugs him tightly. Although you couldn't hear their conversation clearly, just watching them from where you stood was enough to make your eyes glisten from pure happiness.
"You finally chose to open your heart, right Diluc?" You quietly note to yourself, "You don't have to carry everything by yourself anymore, you're free."
'Once you open it, you will be set free.'
He was able to dwell in this one in a lifetime experience, all because you unlocked the heart and dispersed the fog inside.
They spent a good amount of minutes bringing the distance back together after being seperated for so many years. You made sure to make minimal movements in the consideration of their time. It was only temporary until Crepus noticed you standing in the distance and he gave you a quick glance. Your whole body tenses in response, suddenly feeling guilty as if you were a third wheel who didn't belong in the moment between two family members.
He's staring at me. Diluc's father is staring at me! Your thoughts panicked along with your thrumming heart. What should I do?!!
"I see you've brought someone along with you," He comments, the playfulness rising in his tone, "She seems to have been waiting for quite a while already. If you don't mind, may you do the honours of introducing her to me?"
Diluc turns to see you stiffened in place with your hands tightly clasped below your stomach and heat pooling from your ear to your cheeks as you dipped your head down. His father was a kind man and he couldn't understand there the discomfort came from, yet found it endearing nonetheless. Diluc walks over to you and extends his hand, silently urging you to come with him. You complied, albeit hesitantly at first.
"It'll be okay my love," he whispered softly, causing you to be taken aback by the nickname he called you by. Diluc often reserves them for special instances and this was one of them, "Whatever the staff told you about my father, they're the truth. Trust in their judgement. Trust in me."
"Diluc..." you say, voice fading. You knew him to be someone who always kept his word and someone who would never lie to you. Taking in a short breath, you nodded, "Alright, I will," and followed his lead.
There was once a time where you indulged in the idea of facing Master Crepus in person. But never did you prepare yourself for the amount of pressure it came with. Now that you were together with his son, there was a high chance that he would also become part of his family too, sooner or later. You weren't just meeting Master Crepus. You were also meeting your future father-in-law.
"Father, this is (Y/n)," Diluc starts the welcoming exchanges. You felt his hand squeeze yours gently. He turns to you so that you caught glimpse of his face, seeing the reverance in his gaze that was hinted among his handsome features, "She's the woman I fell in love with and I would do anything to make her happy. I cherish her more than anything else."
"D-Diluc!" you flushed, your embarassment as red as his own hair. But he wasn't bothered by it in the slightest.
"I only speak the truth."
Master Crepus lets out a content chuckle, drawing both of your attentions back to him, "He can be surprising poetic sometimes but I'm sure that he got it from me. Even my wife reacted the same way," he reminisced shortly before sighing, "In truth I already knew that you were together. Staying in the after life gave me the chances to watch things from an omniscient standpoint, I was sincerely worried how Diluc would handle things when I suddenly left, I hope you don't mind. If you do, I apologize for making you uncomfortable."
"N-Not at all!"
"Haha, you're very kind. Thank you. I'm glad that my son was able to find a woman like you to be his fated partner. As a parent, it brings me great reassurance," Crepus remarked, "I know he can be stubborn and a little too headstrong when it comes to making decisions. It really must be a handful for you to deal with at times but I promise you that he means well. So please continue to watch over him in my stead, take care of my son while I'm gone."
"You can count on me," you beamed, "I'll give it my all."
"You have my gratitude (Y/n)," Crepus replies and turned to Diluc, "And listen to her every once in a while. I may have been the previous owner of our wine industry but even I always make sure to get me sufficient amount of rest. Son you know its bad to get two to three hours of sleep every day."
You blinked, "Two to three hours?"
Diluc clears his throat, "I understand Father. You don't have to say it."
Oh I think he does.
With a satisfied grin, Crepus took both of your hands together in his and gave you his blessings. The man once considered to be an artifact through the vast mansion was going to be part of the memories in your life. All of your expressions held as much happiness as the future can become now that he gave you the closure you both needed.

Moonchase, Day 1
Since Paimon has started interrupting my dailies every 5 minutes to demand stew, I guess that means the anniversary is here and I'd better go do it. It is imperative that I acquire this stew.
Disclaimer: I do not care for stew. I am caving to her whims because I fear that if I do not do so willingly, she will escalate to violence. Please, help me.
The panning shot of Xiangling describing the festival (good food! spending time with family!) is really funny because it actually pans over the tourists from Mond that hate Liyue food. And Liyue.
"Ningguang picked the theme for the festival! She's so amazing and mysterious!!" Xiangling, how does any of that correlate. I pick themes for events. Am I amazing and mysterious? I have to assume so. Genshin really is great at making you feel special <3
Haha, okay. We're going to go talk to our friends in Liyue, huh. The friends that we may not have actually met at this point because the requirements are AR28 and Xiangling's quest, right? Some of whom have never appeared? Okay. Let's go meet our bestie, Xinyan <3
Ah, I see. When we left Liyue, Zhongli must have died, and transmigrated into Hu Tao's body. That's the only way to explain her lecture about the perfect balance of flavours, and also her telling Xiangling not to do anything outlandish. I refuse to believe she's a good influence.
is asking a zombie about her food preferences insensitive
Ah yes! Baizhu! Our good friend.... Baizhu, who... filled a prescription for us that one time, our BFFsie Baizhu. Also, we're really gonna skip the obvious joke of horrifying the pharmacist with Xiangling's ingredient choices. We're really not gonna go there.
Hi Beidou! So this is where you ended up after abandoning us to fight the Shogun in Inazuma! I see where your priorities lie!
Keqing, you don't actually have to ask Beidou permission to do things. Fucking the boss doesn't mean she has actual authority over you.
The girlbosses are fightingggggg
This giant rock business has them so distressed. Don't they know Zhongli is the best at rocks? He can solve their rock problem, because he's THE rock expert. We have to let them know so they don't need to suffer anymor- Paimon. Paimon, why aren't you telling them how good Zhongli is at rocks!!!
"Keqing has taken an unusually keen interest in this-" so even Mihoyo doesn't know why Keqing cares about this rock, cool
Ningguang: I like flowers. Beidou: OH? YOU "LIKE" FLOWERS? Have you ever been out to sea. Do you know how long I go without seeing a flower. Do you know how FUCKING good you have it??? I haven't seen a flower in 6 months, but you "like" flowers. Fuck you.”
We get a unique insight into Keqing's razor-sharp mind: "holy shit shrimp balls"
I like how Liyue's age of humanity only matters with regards to the divine when the problem is Rock Mysteries and, say... any other godly issue that's plagued Liyue this year. Also, we visited two whole people for their food opinions.
Also, this "uncovering the lore!" quest is especially dumb when Keqing knows at least one person that probably lived through that time period and we, the Traveller... know a lot more than that.
1) shoutout to Xingqiu for not saving his employee from being attacked and 2) shoutout to Genshin Impact for both assuming we already know who Chongyun is AND providing an introductory panel just in case we don't know who he is. Can you like. Pick one.
Chongyun: Maybe I can help if we go to my place? Xingqiu: Haha, no you can't. None of your family's residences have been added to the game yet, don't be stupid.
Wangshu Inn continues to be one of my favourite locations. It's just 2 frustrated parents and 1 exhausted uncle trying to make sure Xiao lives a remotely healthy lifestyle. Smiley Yanxiao is conspiring to make him eat vegetables.
It.... it's fine. I didn't want to talk to Xiao anyway. It also made far too much sense to go ask him about this God that may or may not have been the guy he spent 2000 years serving. That'd be far too logical. I don't even care. Why even get my hopes up
It's currently storming in my game, but everyone agrees to go sit in the outdoor dining area at Wangshuu anyway.
Prediction; The emotional hook of this arc will be Keqing finally getting to eat shrimp balls.
Xiangling: "Keqing so socially awkward and doesnt know how to act around people, but really shes so sweet and kind and generous underneath it all <3" where.... have i heard this.... before...
Cloud Retainer landing on the roof and talking shit to the competition is theoretically funny, but why does she care about human cooking competitions. Is she competing??? what
We interrupt this event to include a scene where Keqing proves how amazingly kind she is for not prying into Ganyu's personal affairs, but not a scene where we ask Ganyu about the stove god that may or may not have been the guy she spent millenia serving
Xiangling, two minutes after Ganyu leaves: "Hey maybe we should ask the adeptus about the stove god" WOW AMAZING IDEA XIANGLING, I NEVER WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT
It's great to see Madame Ping and all, but given the current mystery is trying to work out whether or not the Stove God was Rex Lapis I feel we should kind of just cut out the numerous middle men here. Or have we already filled our funeral parlour visitation quota for the day?
Oh cool, another one of Zhongli's dead god friends.
this event is really long and the concept is fine, but i’m not too impressed with the characterisation so far. chongyun and xingqiu didnt really interact, beidou and ningguang’s dynamic confuses me, and no-one’s really talking in an interesting way that characterises their relationships for me... besides keqing and xiangling, a pair i wasn’t interested in.
but the sidequests this time seem to involve characters we actually know, which is a real step up, so i’m hoping those questlines will be good - especially after the general improvements we saw in inazuma.
also this game really got my hopes up that i’d get to see xiao today and then mercilessly snatched them away, so like. 0/10

RE: that last ask about Baal and Childe, I sort of agree - at least with Childe (only because I haven't finished Inazuma yet or even gotten far in). I find Childe so pathetic that it's mildly endearing. It's like that one meme where it's a few people watching some guy in the distance try to tie his shoes but he starts crying because he can't but they don't move to help him or anything. Childe is just so pathetic it's embarrassing and I can't help but want to see him suffer LOL. I do like him though (I hated him at first, then I fought his battle for the first time, and now I just have these feelings I just stated about him). I don't, however, think he was sympathetic, even after his story quest. For me it was less about sympathizing with him and more to see how stubborn/reckless he is, and how he'll do anything for his own set of (skewed) morals. I guess he's kind of like an anti-hero in a way. Moe through helplessness.
and that's what makes childe such an interesting character! (imo ofc lol in karfield's opinion, he's a lil bitch)
but i think everyone forgets that childe is still very young. if i had to guess, i'd say that he's no older than 21, and everyone knows how teenaged boys act LOL.
anyway, it's considerably impressive that he's a fatui harbinger at this age (yes the abyss might have had smth to do with it but it's still very impressive). i think a lot of my sympathy comes from the fact that he's so young, and having been in touch with the abyss at an even younger age, he never really got a choice to become who he could have become. from the moment he touched the abyss, it was like his path of blood became laid out before him.
the last thing i have to say is that, until mihoyo releases more info on celestia/snezhnaya/tsaritsa, childe does not count as an anti-hero. he literally tried to drown liyue harbor and though he expressed his regret about it, he still tried to do it lol. without further information, he's just an attractive and well rounded-out villain.
i'm like really tired so i can't think rn but i am in fact a childe main, yes.

hi katie! for the ~jenshin asks: eternity, elemental burst, nd dainslef
Hi Mila!🥰
eternity: which element do you tend to main/use the most?
Tbh, I don't think there is an element which I use significantly more than another. Maybe Pyro units since Mihoyo literally shoves them down our throats ASDFGHJK but otherwise I am kinda balanced in terms of raising characters🤔 I would love to have more hydro units though!
elemental burst: which character has your favorite vision achievement story?
Given the fact that I sadly don't know every single vision achievement story since I only read them for the characters I reached the friendship level, this answer will probably change as I get to know more of these stories. But from the ones I know it's probably Kaeya's even though it's really sad under which circumstances he got it. But it makes me also wonder with which criteria the Tsaritsa is giving out visions... I also like Thoma's because it shows what a loyal and good boy he is but I may be biased here haha AND I want to know Childe's vision story since we never got it (only the delusion story).
dainslef: what theory do you have about the lore and the archon’s involvement with the destruction of khaenri'ah
My take on this is probably what most people think asdfgh but here we go. I think celestia wants to have control over the whole world of Teyvat by having each region ruled by an Achron, who ultimately is also only a puppet of celestia. Khaenri'ah being a nation without a god and a very advanced one technologically imposed a threat to celestia by showing that human society can also thrive without being ruled and overseen by an Archon. Of fear that other nations might follow the example of Khaenri'ah and start abandoning their gods, celestia attacked the nation to demonstrate the power of the gods and show the nation of Teyvat that a nation without a god is not able to defend itself, scaring all other nations in the process as well. The archons, having no other choice but to follow the orders of celestia, thus had to destory Khaenri'ah even if they did not want to. Zhongli's response when we asked him what happened was pretty vague which leads to believe that the Archons were not allowed to talk about it again. It was celestia's way to keep the ultimate rulership over all of Teyvat. From what we heard/seen and from what is mentioned/hinted Venti does not seem to like celestia so I think he gave up his Gnosis voluntarily since he did not even try to fight Signora, Zhongli did it voluntarily (well it was part of a contract lol but he had no problem giving it away) as well since he was worn out of being an Archon and wanted the people of Liyue to stand on their own feet without depending on a god and Ei did not care about her Gnosis all that much ever since the cataclysm so all of them ultimately wanted to sever their ties with celestia. And I think that may also be the Tsaritsa's ultimate plan. I went a little off topic there in the end but asdfgh yeah that's my theory :D
Thank you so much for asking <3

The Lost Child at Stellis - Starting Point
// A/N: It took me the whole day to write the beginning partly because Artem and Vyn are characters that are complex in dialogue. Also, this is spoiler-free because it doesn’t connect to the game, just a wholesome story. //
It felt like a surprise when one day, Marius had the greatest idea he ever thought. Even Luke had to sit down to process this correctly.
"So you're saying that we should take a day off by going to...the amusement park?" Luke asked.
Marius laughed softly and said, "Exactly! Seeing as we all serious men had probably little to no experience of fun, I'd thought it'd be an opportunity to spend that time on Saturday, at 10 a.m."
"Excuse you! I'm Clairemont's childhood friend, and we had tons of fun that I can remember!" Luke rebutted.
"We know, Luke. But, can you remember one memory that you enjoyed the most?" Marius stared intently.
Luke was about to add more, but he went silent. Marius smirked again and faced the other two.
"Well, I don't mind taking a break. It seems that I have a free weekend," Vyn smiled.
"I guess it wouldn't hurt to visit one ourselves. My last memories of the amusement park were my elementary days." Artem held the papers firmly.
“Seriously? You guys are boring. Except for you, Teach, you’re more interesting,” Marius said, leaning on the couch. As Vyn returns the compliment with a small smile, Luke feels defeated.
“Why does Marius feel the need to call me boring?” he mumbled.
“So, Luke, what’s your answer?” Marius looked to the brunet, who sighed and agreed with no choice.
“Excellent! I’m texting Clairemont to see if she's going with us. It's not perfect without her," Marius winked.
"I'm sure she would say that she has work. It's rare that she gets a break and hangs out with her office friends," Artem recalled.
"How about you? She told me a week ago that all you can talk about is work and nothing about your life. Isn't that crazy?" Luke laughed.
Artem sighed, "I guess that applies to me too. Celestine tried to invite me with some officemates for dinner yet I still said no because of work. Such a shame."
"I recommend joining a few hangouts with friends if you want to liven up your life. As one proverb says, ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.’ I am not going to imagine an Artem Wing who is boring," Vyn plainly said.
As his name was mentioned, Artem arched his brow in disapproval. “Such a bold statement, Vyn. As if I’m the boring one, you look and act like the most complex person I can’t translate in simple terms,” he scoffed.
“Okay, can we just stop arguing and go back to the main topic? Clairemont just texted that she would try to join alongside us if work doesn’t overtake her,” Marius called out.
Artem and Vyn went silent as they kept glaring through their tables. Luke and Marius looked at each other, shaking their heads in disappointment.
A regular day at the NXX Headquarters. Clairemont left earlier to focus on another important task, which settled the boys for a trip to the amusement park.
By the end of the day, it looks like there is going to be a challenge awaiting ahead.

Saturday. Families usually spend their days Saturday. Families usually spend their days outside of their homes, enjoying the activities with their children.
One of the most famous amusement parks is Stellis Wonderland Park, where it owns the legendary Fantasy House. Inside the house contains a treasure that only the lucky people can find.
Of course, the park has the usual stuff like roller coasters or the Ferris Wheel and the food. Luke can't wait to eat cotton candy or kettle corn.
Marius was the first guy to arrive there, wearing a black polo shirt and matching jeans with sneakers. Although his life screams rich, he prefers not to flaunt his rich status.
"Where are those guys? It's almost 10 a.m.!" he thought.
Then, Artem and Vyn entered the scene. Marius almost burst into laughter as they were not wearing formal clothes for once. He could give them brownie points for coming on time, and not standing out from the crowd.
“Finally! It’s great that you’re wearing sweaters and coats and not ties or suits. Looking at you, Artem,” Marius complimented, then gave a stare to the latter.

When I started spending my gems on the gacha, I feel like I'm luckier on Cookie Run: Kingdom than Tears of Themis or Obey Me.
Keep note, this is my first experience to RPG games as a whole, so I'm rather new. But, it's about to be one week playing so here's me flexing my luck LOL
This is from my first day:

Please. Watch. Trese.
My sister and I watched the whole anime in one day. Been waiting since the trailer dropped and it's very good.
I beg you to watch this on Netflix (it has English, Filipino, Japanese and Spanish dub so far) because it's the BEST representation of Filipinos. Also, like, the characters (ESPECIALLY THE KAMBAL HAYY) are so worthy of simping like it's trending on Twitter. I guess my favorite mythology character is Maliksi because, duh!
So, yeahh, watch Trese if you want Season 2 because it's bitin. I need more content, so I wanna see more fanart and fanfics explode :D

The funny thing abt baizhu is he's a greedy hack, so if Mhy bothered to remember that, he should have tricked Xiangling into poisoning her food for more custom /j. Also I was quite shocked by Hu Tao, since although I don't have her, I was under the impression she was less a philosopher and more a "the best ingredient in food is a whoopee cushion" kind of person. The Beiguang scenes were funny though. All in all, it feels like MHY flattened what little characterization they actually had written.
Tbh, it's been so long since we last saw Baizhu that I've forgotten almost everything about him. I played Liyue in uh... November last year and he was a bit character. But yeah, god forbid we add any real comedy here...? I thought for sure Hu Tao would drive Xiangling to something even crazier, I was not expecting her to be the voice of reason.
Beidou and Ningguang's little back and forth was weird, too. I didn't expect Beidou to be so needlessly aggressive, it didn't come across as them having any kind of mutual respect at all; more like Beidou feeling inferior and picking a fight about it while Ningguang is just tired of her. Chongyun and Xingqiu barely interacted with each other at all in the scene they shared, and Ganyu literally just showed up to praise Keqing for being such an amazing super nice person that respects her friend's boundaries, and that's it.
Even Keqing's friendship with Xiangling was less about Keqing and Xiangling, and more "Keqing is just shy!" + "look Keqing is so nice actually, let me explain it to you!" So it was super worthwhile waiting for all these characters to finally meet, totes worth it
If this is what the writing quality’s like, I’m not sure I want to finally see Zhongli and Xiao meet. I mean, I’d really like to know their dynamic, but...
Windblume was a bit better at this, so this is disappointing. But then, Windblume wasn't distracting the characters from interacting with each other with "best food to eat!" or "solve this mystery we could just ask Zhongli about!"
But I don't expect good writing, so that's standard. What surprised me was the vague discomfort about how Zhongli apparently felt the best way of preserving his friends memory was by melting down a diverse set of community festivals into one. Like the concept that unification involves homogenisation. I'm sure this in no way reflects the feelings of a certain country Mihoyo is based in. Also Zhongli, you could have just called it the stove god festival. Cut out the middleman a thousand years ago.
Zhongli thought the best way to deal with the Azhdaha situation was putting him in the punishment cave for 1000 years, so. You know. Not the bestest friend ever.
Also as someone that doesn't know much about China, I'm not going to comment, but Mihoyo does just make weird decisions regarding the Archons' dubious choices. I mean, just look at Inazuma.
