#they even adopt an orphan girl together
Text
Batfam x GN!Bat!Reader.
Tumblr media
Summary: Bruce had another kid in Arkham asylum that nobody knows about.
Warnings: Murder, Suicide, Arkham asylum, Reader can see the dead, Bruce being a bad father, mentions someone who can "hear God".
Part Two
~☆~
Nineteen.
Nineteen miserable years that you have been alive. Five of which you have spent in the hell hole, that is Arkham Asylum. Thrown in here with the approval of the man known as your father. The man Gotham city praises. The man who does nothing but help those around him, even going as far as adopting a group of orphans. Bruce Wayne.
You had always had an "overreactive" imagination as the people around you called it. When you were around twelve, you started having "outbursts", claiming things that weren't there actually existed, things that happened actually were caused by another being, one that only you can see.
So when your mother was unexpectedly murdered, and Batman walked onto the scene, you told him you weren't even home. But the journals your mother kept that had scribbles all about your claims made them believe it was you who killed her, only, you were believing a delusion, so you didn't remember. Of course you remember, you were out running the streets to get yourself just a scrap of food from wherever you could get it from.
The city wanted a DNA test before they threw you in Arkham, trying their best to put a face to the empty signature on your birth certificate. You could always tell your mother knew who your father was. Her dismissive attitude that presented whenever you would ask gave it away.
When the test came back and told you that you were the Prince of the city's kid, you told yourself that he's unreliable and not to be trusted. Your mother had to have a reason not to tell the man that she was carrying his child. She wouldn't have raised you in your shitty one bedroom apartment for nothing. Maybe she did tell him, and he just told her to get lost?
You just know that as he watched you get dragged away and thrown in one of the most vile places, you had decided that he was the worst thing you would ever see.
He never one visited or called. Even when the DNA came back and he was allowed a short meeting with you, he denied wanting to see you. A far different man than his TV persona.
×
"This piece goes over there.." A female voice spoke from over your shoulder.
"Thank you, Alice."
"Mhm"
Alice was a nice girl. She had shaved off brunette hair and a pair of strikingly blue eyes. There were marks that stuck to the temples of her head from years of electro-therapy. She had been a patient at Arkham years before you were thrown in. She had even died there. She had whispered a story about her time awaiting her death through her electro-therapy...it was almost the same as the electric chair.
"And this one goes here." A young male who sat in front of you pointed at the puzzle you were putting together.
Mathew. He, too, had dark brown hair and matching blue eyes with Alice. Siblings that came from the same rotten seed. He had killed himself in Arkham after he found out about Alice's death.
Nothing was really wrong with them, they had been transmitted to Arkham at a bad time in the world. The both of them were just severely traumatized and scared.
Far different than Ruby, who claims God was talking to her, but his whispers stopped when she strangled herself.
"They have brownies in the canteen today." Mathew whispered, watching you with his usually wide eyes. The brownies happened to be the only good thing in this entire facility.
"Finally, I've been waiting all week." You mumbled, looking down at the table in front of you.
"Y/N." The familiar voice of Dr. Conley spoke. "It's time."
Wordlessly, you abandoned your puzzle and left your room, following her all the way to the bare office that they would bring the catatonic patients. Your breakdown last week had landed you to not be able to leave the main building.
"Please sit." She instructed you. You did as told and reached for the sickeningly white chair that waited for you.
You watched as she took in a sigh and looked around the room. "I thought you were getting better-"
"There is nothing to recover from." You interrupted her, growing defensive. "I'll name off a patient who died here, and you can go see if you can find their papers!"
You know you should've given up explaining by now. None of them would ever believe you. "Y/N, you know that's not possible-"
"But fucking aliens are!?" Your breathing became heavy as you looked at her.
"Look, Y/N-"
"I want to go back to my room." You mumbled, interrupting her for the third time.
You could hear her sigh yet again before she tried to speak, but you only banged on the table in front of you. "I WANT TO GO BACK TO MY ROOM!"
×
Dick had been searching through Bruce's at home office for the past few hours. Looking for his adoption papers because of some stupid shit at work. With a sigh, he closed the filing cabinet he was looking in and went to go find Alfred instead.
As he approached the dining room (where he expected the older man to be), he not only found Alfred, but a giant box filled with papers as well.
"I believe you were looking for this." Alfred stated as he turned to look at Dick. "Master Bruce keeps all of your legal documents in a safer place." Of course, he was talking about the other adoptees and blood child that lived in the Manor some point in their life.
"Yeah, thanks, Alf." Dick smiled as he started sorting through the papers. The older man only nodded his head and walked off.
Alright here we go..Jason, Tim, Damian, Jason again, More stuff for Tim, a copy of his own birth certificate, Y/N L/N, Jason- Hold on..Y/N L/N?
×
Dick had loudly entered the batcave, making a b-line straight for Bruce.
"Who is Y/N?!"
"Wha-"
"Who the fuck is Y/N, Bruce?!"
Bruce let out a sigh as he stepped away from Dick, watching as his son waved a handful of papers in his face.
"Father, what is he talking about?" Damian (who just happened to be in the cave) asked.
"He has another kid- one that he's kept secret!" Dick yelled, looking over at his younger brother. He knows it's not really any of his business, but he can't help but feel angry over how you might have not even existed in Bruce's eyes. "Another ACTUAL kid of yours!" He put emphasis on the 'actual' trying to hint to you being another blood child like Damian.
"Go get ready. I'm calling Tim and Jason." He told Damian, already grabbing his phone from his pocket. Damian hesitantly got out of his seat and did what Dick asked.
"Dick, you don't have to make this serious." Bruce slackly tried to grab for the phone.
"Don't make it serious?!" Dick yelled, shocked at Bruce's words. "They're your kid?!"
"They're a murderer!"
Dick let an ebrupt laugh fall from his lips, slowly lowering the phone from his ear. "Jason's a murderer."
"B-but-"
"Damian's a murderer, Tim's a murderer, I'm a murderer!" He yelled out the last part.
The two of them continued to stare at each other for a few seconds before Dick brought his phone back up to his ear. "Yeah, Tim, I'm here."

Hehehhe, just something I came up with. I'm going to post another ArkhamPatientBatkid!Reader later. It's gonna have a different plot and stuff, but it's just stuck in my head.

Hello, I am a first timer here. I would like to humbly request something. Can I please request for a Platonic Nanami and adopted daughter reader. The reader is not used to a normal environment and they are used to fighting and surviving
Tumblr media
Girl Dad Transformation
I’ve been stewing over this so hard bc it’s been giving me the cutest ideas!!!! And ofc Yuuji is so big brother coded here.
Notes: F!reader, brotherly!Yuuji, Nanami and his adopted daughter 🥺. That’s it.
Tumblr media
Nanami didn’t think about the long term impact of adopting the orphaned sorcerer. Surely he wouldn’t change that much…
All he knew was there was a 5 year old girl clutching her only toy- a stuffed bear, who could see ‘scary monsters’ and no longer had any family, thanks to the curse that was tormenting humans for fun; he was just a little too late.
The poor thing was terrified. In the blink of an eye his hand was seized by a freezing, much smaller one with a death grip.
Nanami got you looked at by Shoko and you refused to let go of him the entire time. By the looks of it, you were malnourished and you frequently got injured from curses. Your home life was fairly unstable too, financial issues and absent-detached parents. Shoko got a lot more information from you than he ever expected, piecing together some of your history from your seemingly unrelated answers, as children do.
“She’s going to have to stay for observation, probably several weeks until we can get her healthy enough. She’s going to need a special diet too, I haven’t seen a case this bad in a long time and she’s too young for cursed energy.”
His heart was crushed for you, when was the last time you had somewhere stable? “Why are you telling me?”
“You found her, she’s clearly attached to you and you know you can’t turn away now. You look at her like she’s Itadori. It’s just until I can find a place for her at a home or foster.” Shoko never fails with her dead pan demeanor and sass.
She was also right.
He looked back at you, you were passed out in your hospital bed covered by several blankets and hugging your bear. Finally, you were warming up. Finding you a home could take months if you went to a foster or orphanage… “Don’t bother,” he swallowed thickly, “I will adopt her.”
Shoko’s face softened further, “You can’t go back on it, you already earned her trust. If you’re really sure then I think this will be good for both of you.”
He did his best to be at your bedside when he could, and you were quiet but clearly in need of comfort. Your favorite thing to do was have him read to you with cartoons on a low volume in the background. “Nami, book?” Nanami picked up a book off the stack Shoko brought and started reading. No complaints, and after the first few days he didn’t bother hiding his smile anymore.
He spent a fortune on converting his spare bedroom into yours. He didn’t even know what 5 year olds liked, but according to the first years and Shoko, he needed to make sure you had various toys (he bought everything Yuuji pointed out to him- Yuuji definitely went overboard but Nanami didn’t stop him), clothes and of course you’d need signed up for school.
When the adoption was final and he brought you home for the first time, he was thoroughly instructed how to parent by then, he was ready.
You… weren’t. Not yet. You didn’t know that your room was yours. All the toys and clothes, everything was yours. ‘Nami’ kept the ‘scary monsters’ away too…
“Hey it’s okay honey, I know it’s a big change.” He wiped the tears from your chubby cheeks and smiled softly. “You belong here, you’re safe now.”
A grown up was taking care of you, for good this time.
It was a journey every day but worth it as you came out of your shell, and he encouraged you with a gentle hand. Of course there were setbacks too. He wasn’t perfect, he definitely wasn’t good at laundry at first.
He was new to parenting and it was exhaustingly difficult to navigate yet he was completely whipped for you, never turning down a tea party or invitation to watch cartoons together. He became a complete girl dad overnight.
All it took was, “Nami! Play!” And he’d be on the floor in the living room playing with the doll you handed him.
You started eating more, even requesting different meals when he asked what you were in the mood to eat. “Nami, can we have soba?”
Nanami couldn’t say no to you. “Soba sounds great.” He’d have the softest smile on his face too.
You played more often, and eventually made friends! Yuuji claimed the title as your first friend but you were encouraged to make more- he helped you practice asking your classmates about themselves and how to invite them to play with you.
And Nanami… he never forced you to call him dad. He loved you more than he ever thought possible. He was always proud to call you his daughter, bragging about your excellent kindergarten grades and your recent achievement of becoming the line leader at school for the week.
But the first time you did happened a month in, while doing your bedtime routine and picking out a night night story. Instead of ‘Nami’ he was gifted: “Daddy, can you read the star book?” He let out a tear and hugged you tight.
Nanami tucked you in, kissed your forehead and sat on the edge of your bed, “Yeah honey, I’ll read you the star book.”

Circus One Piece AU with sword swallower/knife thrower Zoro and tightrope walker/aerial act Sanji please and thank you
They (and the rest of the crew) grew up in the « Thousand Sunny » circus together:
Sanji’s adoptive dad, Zeff, is the circus cook who always tells a different, wild story about how he lost his leg (it often involves a lion, even though the circus doesn’t use animals in its show, despite its lion logo)
Zoro’s parents both died in an accident when he was young and his relatives (Shimotsuki) took him in. His childhood friend Kuina had an accident and is now a wheelchair user- she handles the circus social media and marketing with Nami
They both have had crushes on each other for years but don’t dare to fo anything because not only what if the other feels the same but what if it doesn’t work out and they have to leave their circus family- so instead they keep bickering and pigtail pulling
I think it’s common for circus performers to have many abilities but specializing in certain things so let’s just assume most of them are good at basic acrobatic/circus things
Sanji is an aerial artist (aerial silks, hoops etc) and tightrope walker and Zoro is good at sword swallowing, stage combat and knife throwing
A lot of the crew are orphans who were adopted into the circus family from many countries the circus has passed through, so they have little accents and have the best time celebrating everyone’s different traditions and holidays
Usopp is a magician, Vivi does diabolo, Franky a strongman, Robin does Trapeze, Luffy is known for his contortionist act but also does some clowning, Ace and Sabo do fire performances, Brook is their communal grandpa in charge of music, Jinbei is the cool dependable uncle in charge of setting everything up to regulation and navigating their caravan where Nami tells them to go
Although she does Chinese pole, Nami is growing up to be the person who’ll take over the circus management/strategy- she wants them to make bank and strategizes on what acts they do, innovative acts and staging they can do etc
Luffy’s dream is for their circus to be the best in the world - they’re already going around different countries but he wants a full international tour, eager to take over after his grandpa (ringmaster) passes it on to him
Chopper is the adoptive son of the troupe doctor (Kureha) who does some equestrian tricks (voltige) but mostly studies hard to be a doctor too. He’s still a kid but everyone is else is an adult
Sanji often gets really distracted by Zoro during practice times- their outfits are revealing and he’s so buff and like what else can he do with his mouth goddamn
He only once called Zoro a « sword swallower » when he was a (still closeted) teen to try and bully his friend/rival but Zoro just grinned at him and said « proudly » and Sanji almost died from that mental image and never used that insult again (he might have gotten a nosebleed)
Naturally Zoro is also dumbstruck by Sanji’s beauty and grace on the regular- and he often gets in trouble for watching Sanji’s act and almost missing cues
The gang always gets into so many shenanigans in every new city they travel to and they love each other so dearly
One day a video of Zoro practicing goes viral (because he’s hot and talented) and Sanji is definitely not responsible for a few dozen views on that video
Zoro always gets a little jealous and annoyed when he finds Sanji flirting with local girls
And that’s all the ideas I have for now! Please feel free to add to this!! I’d love to see what you guys would be fun to have in the circus AU

So. Some time ago I had a request about slashers. There was Chucky, whom I did not write at that time, but now I was interested in this character and, remembering that request, I decided to finish it, in a sense
🕯Chucky x fem!Reader headcanons Orphan 🔪
Chucky met you completely by accident. He was bought by your parents at a thrift store and at first he thought he was in a very ordinary family, until he heard your parents express concern that they could not find out anything about your past. This made it clear to him that you were an adopted child and pretty soon he found out something else unusual about you
The night he wanted to kill your foster parents, he saw that he was beaten to it. It was you. You killed them, and when you heard footsteps, you turned around. You were both surprised to see each other, but after a second, Chucky laughed. He understood everything now. He understood why your foster parents didn't know anything about your past and why there were scars on your neck and wrists. You weren't a child, as you soon told him yourself
You turned out to be an adult woman, about the same age as him, who, due to a rare disease, looked like a twelve-year-old girl. It wasn't your first family. You killed several families who adopted you and you didn't expect to meet a doll that had the killer's soul in it. However, you both saw a huge prospect in this
Chucky could barely contain his laughter while you, with tears in your eyes, told the police that unknown people broke into the house, killed your parents and you managed to hide, so you stayed alive. The police believed your story and soon you were being taken to the relatives of your deceased foster parents, with whom you were supposed to live while the police investigated. You arrived at your new home clutching Chucky to your chest, claiming that it was a precious gift from your late parents
You and Chucky understood that together you could achieve a lot. No one could suspect you two of the murders. You had a great future ahead of you and he was sure that when he found a human body for himself, your plans would become even bigger

Spy x family hurt/comfort ideas for destroy your soul:
-loid and yor are expecting a child, anya is jealous that they don't love her as much as their own child.
-Loid, speaking seriously with Sylvia: " fuck it, I'm going to keep them and if you want me to continue being your star spy, you're going to give me missions that don't involve falling in love with women or adopting children, one is enough for me. "
-Loid thinks about the joy his wife and daughter bring him: God, when was the last time I did something just for… fun? Why I didn't do it befo-... oh right... This is a mission
-Loid wonders how Yor had never dated anyone until she was 27, then Yor interprets something very literal and Loid thinks, oh that's why.
-Since Loid saw that Anya had too much stress after the sandbox test, he is very worried about her mental health. Anya stares into space because she's busy thinking about what he thought. But he thinks that the poor girl she is dissociating due to a trauma and he tries to repair her with kisses and hugs.
-The mission ends on the night of a full moon, so Anya has no idea if her father plans to get rid of them, or how, or when, she just stays close to her parents for as long as she can.
-Yor begins to question if she is going to be married to Loid until death do them part, since she barely knows Loid... Well, she knows him a little... For a year... But she is not sure of her feelings for him.
- -Loid finally decides to take Anya to the doctor because bleeding from the nose every time you get overwhelmed by loud noises might not be normal. Anya is just terrified that the doctors will open her brain and see that she has her powers, somehow. he also discovers that she is very low in weight and height for her age and worries even more.
-you love me? Direct question to destroy the heart of the best spy in the country, especially if it comes from a child, especially if it comes from an orphan, especially if it comes from his daughter who has never lived more than 4 months with an adoptive family because they did not get attached to her. Answer honestly, she will know if you lie.
-The Strix mission ended. Loid abandons Anya and breaks up with Yor without much explanation. only to regret it 15 minutes later and run to find them.
-Anya obtains 7 tonitrus having already 7 stellas. And she knows that expulsion is closer than the prize. So she runs away from home.
- Anya is finally ready to tell Loid a little about her birth mother and the orphanage, and it hurts.
-Anya never had a birthday party because there was no budget at the orphanage. Loid is able to hiring even the boys who cry if that makes his daughter happy
-Yor is hospitalized due to a fight and telling your husband that you have appendicitis is easier than explaining to him that some criminals shot you 3 times in the hip and who the hell you're still alive.
-Bond has to bite one Forger to save them from some imminent danger he predicted but the rest of the family panics and gets very angry with Bond.
-"If you keep getting close to dangerous guys you are going to get really hurt one day." Ergo, Anya gets hurt.
-Did you know that adoptable children in real life know that their chances of being adopted go down as they grow older because most only adopt babies? Anya knows it.
-Loid and Yor have no choice but to sleep together because their daughter is terribly ill in the hospital and her last wish is to sleep with them together. Or she actually has a common cold and they took her to the emergency room because they panicked when her fever went up 0.1 degrees.
- Damian wants to hang out with Anya but he would never let Emilie and Ewen find out.
-Loid comforting Anya during an anxiety attack because he thinks it's because of her past and only he knows.
-Instead of directly saying that he wants to keep his family or give up being a spy, he begins by extending the mission for 4 more months, and then another 4 more. And when he realizes 4 years have passed.
-Yor asks Loid about his dead ex-wife because they will never go to leave her flowers or he doesn't have old photos of her and baby Anya. Loid has many photos to fake.
T/W torture
-Anya biological father is a voluteer or one of the scientist because she was made by artificial insemination so that she was born, Anya's mother was kidnapped from a rural town where her language was almost extinct.
-The scientists remove Anya's mother's tongue so that she cannot communicate with her other than through her telepathy.
-The scientists being really mad the first time that her powers didn't work during the full moon.
-Still has nightmares about the electroshock in the laboratory every time she failed the tests. Her parents try to console her but she can't tell them anything, even if she wants. still hurts.

A FEW MONTHS LATER...
The maglev run should've been something up Kayla's alley, but alas, she wasn't ready to fly an ikran let alone run a task force. Or at least, that's what all her teachers have told her. Until she can hunt and make a clean kill, she couldn't claim a banshee. However, it was possible for her to run ground team assaults on any RDA convoy they hit astride a pa'li. Kayla wouldn't mind that since even Neytiri believes that she makes an excellent rider. At the very least, she could make herself useful instead of helping Kiri or Jocelyn tend to the wounded Na'vi and avatars whenever they come home from these tight-knit missions her brother organizes.
Instead, she's trapped at High Camp, bored, twiddling her thumbs while standing around in her avatar towering over Jocelyn while the biotech is observing a bit of plant life her two Na'vi boyfriends had brought her. Or at least, that's who Kayla assumes they are. As she noticed before, the two young Omatikaya warriors always bring something back for Jocelyn in their travels and she always tends to follow them around in return. Jocelyn had introduced the two males to Kayla as Txe'la and Meui, to which Kayla struggled but was able to realize their names were derived from 'heart' and 'honor' fittingly. They each represented their names in many ways. While Txe'la is easily more gentle and kind, Meui is respectable but stern. They aren't brothers as she had recently thought, but are childhood friends and orphans from the Last Battle. Kayla never asked, but she could safely assume they were a mated pair, and by watching how they interact with Jocelyn, the avatar wondered if all three's feelings toward each other were mutual.
Kayla knew Jocelyn a little better now and can safely say that the human female was a good mixture of both Txe'la and Meui. When all three were together, they perfectly evened each other out, but it was hard to tell if all three of them were officially 'together'. Still, despite the even number, Kayla felt like a fourth wheel when Jocelyn had politely invited her into their tight little circle for the day. It was sweet of the biotech to try and distract the avatar woman from the absence of the war party, but unnecessary. Kayla didn't need to be entertained, at least not by a biotech who is more interested in the plants held out to her in Txe'la's hands so Jocelyn could take samples.
"Attack! Attack!"
Kayla's little niece, on the other hand, is far more entertaining, holding a toy toruk in her hand and mimicking flight as she ran around. Tuk dove between Txe'la and Meui, interrupting Jocelyn's sampling when the young girl flew her toy in front of the woman's face, "Gotcha!"
Kayla and the men laugh while Jocelyn threw her arms up in offense, clearly exasperated as the little girl ran away, "Tuk! Come on!" She reprimanded.
The girl didn't react to Jocelyn, not a care in the world as she ran off to continue playing. Kayla laughed under her breath and shook her head fondly while Txe'la reels Jocelyn's attention back to the leaf, calming her bristle. The little girl had run out of sight by the time horns of war were blown, echoing off the cave system's walls, announcing the return of the war party. All heads turn in the direction of the sound, straining their necks to search for loved ones as ikran slowly glide through the cave entrances to find perches. Kayla made a step toward the landing zone, but Jocelyn whisked her in the opposite direction, asking for her help in case any avatars from the war party returned wounded. Reluctantly, Kayla agreed and followed the smaller woman back to the Longhouse and prepared their medical equipment. Before long, the avatars duck their heads into the marui to greet the others, either to announce they're okay or if they need medical attention. Jocelyn and Kayla get to work on the wounded but thankfully, they were only cuts and bruises, and even made pleasant conversation as they bandaged their patients.
Norm Spellman, tall in his human and currently even taller in his avatar form, struts in, and Kayla immediately clocks in her friend's presence, breaking away from a dismissed patient and moving over to him, "Norm! Are--"
"All Sullys are alive and accounted for," he smirks, "But thanks for the concern, Kayla."
"Shut up, you're fine." She shoves his face away from her, internally relieved about the news of her family, "Big baby."
Norm laughs and shoves her back, which she ignores as she continued, "But be honest, they're alright?"
"Yeah, they're fine. Neteyam walked away with a few scratches, but that's the worst of it, I promise."
She sighs in relief, then for added measure, gives Norm an added shove.
After helping Lo'ak with the ikran, Spider follows the Sully boy to the tsahik tent where Tuk, Kiri, and Mo'at were already tending to Neteyam. The human boy stayed there, gently teasing Neteyam about his boo-boo, and only left once Neytiri and Jake were no longer guarding the entrance of the tent. It's not that Spider was scared of them -somewhat lie- but it appeared as though the parents were having an intense conversation that Spider did not want to interrupt, so he hung out with the Sully kids until the coast was clear and he left, heading home.
The Avatar Longhouse was on the edge of camp, and upon checking in with Max, Spider went looking for one avatar in particular since he had yet to see her since the war party returned. He found her inside the Longhouse, among the large crowds of Na'vi-like bodies towering over Spider as he weaved through them, avoiding tails and swinging arms. In turn, the avatars noticed him and did their best to stay out of his way and be careful where they stepped. Kayla was off to the side, found rummaging through a crate for bandages when Spider approached the tall avatar.
He taps her arm for attention, "Hey, heads up," Kayla looks down instead once she recognized his voice, and finds his eyes immediately, "Lo'ak got grounded."
She raised an eyebrow, suspicious, "Okay... You're telling me this why?"
"I'm letting you know that I'm bringing him around later so he can whine at you instead of me."
Her expression falls into a blank, deadpan expression, "You're very noble, kid," she stated sarcastically, to which the teenager laughs even as she thumps him with her tail. Kayla rolls her eyes and motions to the exit, "Go on, get outta here."
As he walks away, she calls after him, "And bring Kiri, too!"
"Okay, 'Mom.'" Kayla spun around at Norm's taunt, and he grins, ears perking up in delight when she flashed an irritated expression.
"Shut up, I didn't mean it like that."
"Oh, I know," he replied smugly, earning a roll of bandages to the face and getting laughed at by other humans and avatars.
The kids showed back up at the Longhouse shortly after dinner, sneaking into the avatar marui to greet them. Kayla looked up from lounging on her nivi and expectedly spotted the usual three suspects, Spider, Lo'ak, and Kiri, one usually never seen without the other two like the trio they were.
Norm spots the three teenagers as well amidst brushing his teeth and calls out, "Hey, Spider!"
Spider barely turned his head before his back is slapped by the tail-end of a wound-up towel, pointing an accusing finger up at Spellman as he passed by, "Your ass is mine."
"I'm right here!" Norm exclaimed smugly with the toothbrush in his mouth, arms open in invitation.
But Spider knows better than to go against someone twice his size and moves on, leading his friends through the chaos of avatars. Jocelyn catches sight of the three teens as she glanced away from a patient she was bandaging up and scowled.
"Avatars only," Jocelyn berated as Kiri walked past, "Go around!"
Kiri wasn't bothered and even mocks Jocelyn in a high-pitched tone with a small bit of attitude. Lo'ak, trailing behind his sister, genuinely looked guilty as he passed by Jocelyn, "Sorry."
The kids head for the biolab and that's Kayla's cue to disconnect the neuro-link, all the while waving at the human woman down the way from her hammock, "I got this, don't worry about it. Kids!" She calls out to the trio, "Come on, wait up!"
"Wait for me," Norm exclaimed while getting cozy in his own nivi.
Leaning back in her hammock, Kayla closes her eyes and expertly disconnected from her avatar, opening her eyes again to see the inside ceiling of her link bay. She waits until she hears her gurney moving back into its inactive position before manually opening the lid herself, taking a deep breath of oxygen, and flexing her human fingers. Hearing Max and Norm talking, Kayla pushes away the censor cage and sits up, groaning slightly at the rush of blood pumping to her brain, causing a headache behind her eyes from lying down for too long. She gathers herself before hopping off the gurney, finding her footing as the teens walk into the biolab, having been beaten to the lab by Norm and Kayla, now in their human forms.
While she was grabbing for an oxygen mask, Kiri felt a tug on her tail and she immediately made a grab for Spider, who in turn moved out of her reach as they playfully hiss and claw the air at each other. Kiri takes a glimpse behind Spider and politely waves, "Hey, Max."
"Hey, kids!"
"Hey, what's up, Max?" Spider briefly forgets playtime and approaches Max as the older man offers the teen a fistbump, who grins in reply.
"What up."
Lo'ak nods his head over to the scientists, "What's up, Norm?"
"Lo'ak!" Norm raised his arm in greeting, beaming over at the Sully boy until Spider swiftly goes in for his revenge, jabbing Norm in the exposed armpit with all his strength. Norm flinches away, guarding his pit as he hissed in pain while Spider wore a proud, shit-eating grin.
"Easy, kiddo," Kayla rounds the corner of Norm's link gurney, arms open wide for her niece and nephew as she flashes Spider a smirk, "Leave that poor old man alone."
"Hey, Auntie!" Kiri exclaims while leaning down to hug the woman, breaking away after Kayla gently tugs at the beads in the teen girl's short hair.
Norm groans while rubbing the now sore part of his armpit, wincing at the spot that'll no doubt bruise there. He snipes back at Kayla with playful irritants and points an accusatory finger, "And just for that, you get sanitize duty!"
She rolls her eyes in response, moving over to grab a spray bottle and a rag before tilting her head toward the link bays, "Hey, Lo'ak! Help me out here, would ya?"
Lo'ak obediently jogs over, letting the others go about their own things, "Yeah, Auntie?"
After a brief instruction, they get to work wiping down the gurneys, splitting up the task in order to get done faster. Kayla waits until they're halfway done to speak up, "So I overheard you got grounded from flying? Must've been pretty serious. What happened?"
Silence follows and this causes Kayla to look up. Immediately, she sees shame flash over her nephew's yellow eyes and concern immediately flashes over her smaller blue ones, "Lo'ak? Hey... hey," her tone drops to something soft and gentle, "What's the matter, kiddo?"
He takes a deep breath and tells her everything that happened during the mission, sometimes without taking a second between sentences to breathe. Lo'ak was clearly distressed about the whole situation and adds how he got grounded as a result. Kayla patiently stands and waits for him to finish, listening intently without ever making a sound. By the end of his rant, the teen boy finally takes a real, deep breath, shoulders slouching in defeat. He hangs his head, eyes staring down at his feet while his ears pinned back against his skull. The motion frightens Kayla, sometimes having to second-guess and make sure she was talking to Lo'ak instead of Jake, the similarities are still so uncanny to her.
"I nearly got Neteyam killed today." He muttered weakly.
Her eyes widen, lips forming a sneer of disgust, "Did your father tell you that?" When he doesn't respond, it's enough of an answer to make Kayla snarl loudly as if she still had Na'vi fangs, "That son of a-- I swear someday I'm going to rip the braid from his skull--"
"It's fine, Auntie, really," Lo'ak muttered, a little embarrassed and keeping his gaze at his feet, "It's the truth. I made Neteyam break a rule."
"You didn't make Neteyam do anything," Kayla steps forward and places her hand on her nephew's forearm, "He's a big boy and he can choose to listen to you or not. Yes, what you did was wrong, but you didn't force your brother to do the same. He made that choice all on his own."
When he doesn't respond, Kayla tugs his arm to gain his attention. Lo'ak gets the message and lets Kayla guide him to sit on the link gurney next to them. Kayla places both hands on his arms once he sits, now sunken down to her height, "My brother asks too much from you boys. I know you want to be big and strong warriors, but you are still considered boys-- children."
When he flashes a small glare, Kayla retorts back, "Don't give me that look Lo'ak te Suli Tsyeyk'itan. On Earth, you have to be eighteen years old to be considered an adult, and even then you're not considered fully grown until you're in your late twenties."
Lo'ak tries to laugh but immediately regrets it, wincing in pain and screwing his eyes shut. Kayla's lecture instantly melts into concern, "Hey... what's wrong?"
"My head hurts." He muttered.
Kayla's hands reach behind her nephew's head, gingerly poking around the back of the skull for a bump or bruise, "Did you hit your head when you got tossed in the explosion?"
"... Maybe?"
Her distaste returns, but it's not directed at Lo'ak, "That does it," once she muffles Lo'ak's big ears with her tiny hands, she shouts over her shoulder, "Norm! Max! Please check on Lo'ak and see if he's got a concussion," her eyes are suddenly shrouded with a dark expression and she pulls away from her nephew, "I'm gonna go give his father one of his own."
Norm and Max arrive with a trauma kit, the former and taller scientist sarcastically responding, "Don't be stupid, Kayla... if you're gonna do it, go get your avatar first."
Max sighed, exasperated by his fellow humans' dynamic, "Guys..."
He doesn't push the subject, however, and instead tends to Lo'ak while Kayla goes stomping off to grab a breather mask and pack then abruptly leaves the lab. She doesn't ever stop to greet or speak to anyone, her mind on a mission as she stomps in a straight line to her destination. Jake was already there, standing outside the Sully marui when she arrived, and one glance at her and he knew he was about to earn himself one big headache.
She doesn't stop until she's close enough that she has to crane her neck up at him, staring up with an incredulous expression, "So Lo'ak told me what happened."
"Kayla--"
"He also told me he hit his head during the explosion. Did he happen to mention that to you?" Immediately, Jake's eyes widen and his ears flatten, shock and fear crossing over his blue-striped features. Kayla tilts her head, sarcastically curious, "No? I mean, how could he? You were too busy lecturing him."
Guilt and fright were still evident on his face, even when Jake appeared to be fighting a battle in his mind, shuffling his feet and looking away to find whatever answer he was looking for elsewhere. When he couldn't find it, he glance back down at his sister, "Is he--"
"He's fine. Max and Norm are watching him closely. At least they are capable of keeping an eye on him."
Jake's shoulders visibly relax at the news before moving over to sit on his weapon's crate. The tired olo'eykan leaned his elbows against his knees, rubbing his aging face with one hand while trying to take deep breaths. Eventually, he gains the courage again to be defiant against his younger sibling, "I can't be Toruk Maktoand a father on the battlefield at the same time, Kayla."
She crosses her arms and pops a hip, letting the hiss of her mask fill in the silence when she breathes, "Then I suggest you choose one over the other and get your priorities straight. 'Cause at this rate, you won't be able to be a father to them until after the Sky People are sent away again, and when exactly is that happening? Three years? Ten years?" He looked away, defeated because they both knew she was right. Children of war know better than others just how long anarchy lasts. Jake glares down at the ground in front of him, not even blinking when Kayla stepped forward and placed a hand on his shoulder, "By the time you're ready to be their father again, your boys will be grown and possibly have sons of their own. Are you willing to miss all that?"
"For the sake of their safety and their future?" His expression hardened, cold and authoritative once more when he flicks his eyes back to her, "What kind of father would I be if I didn't sacrifice that? If I can't watch them grow up, fine. But I'll fight this war until I've secured their chances of having a better life, even if it means sacrificing whatever time I have left with them."
Kayla's face falls behind the glass of her mask, her expression shattered and pitiful to the point Jake forced himself to look away. He didn't need his sister's pity. After a few long moments of silence, Kayla squeezes his shoulder, "You know... maybe if you let me fight, you wouldn't have to carry that burden alone. If the two of us led the war, maybe it could get done faster and you can worry more about your sons and daughters instead of gunships and bullets."
Jake shook his head even before Kayla could finish her sentence, "No, Kay. You're not ready."
She frowns, "Norm said you became one of the People in just a few months. Guess what? It's been a few months for me."
"Within those few months, I managed to gain an ikran," he snipes back, shaking his head when she rolled her eyes, "I'm not trying to compare, but that's the law of the Omatikaya. I need you in the sky instead of on the ground, therefore, I need you to get a banshee. And to get a banshee--"
"I know, I know," Kayla sighed, exhausted from hearing the same excuse over and over again, "I need to make a clean kill when I hunt."
"It's not just that. The Forest hasn't given you permission to kill. You need to wait to hunt until that exact time."
She flashes a doubtful, incredulous look. Even Jake could admit he sounded crazy for a former human. He understood where his sister was coming from. He didn't believe this tree-hugging crap either when he first started out. Crazy or not, Kayla wasn't backing down from his reasoning, "But how can I take the time to hunt when I'm too busy healing all the wounded you send my way after all your missions? Perhaps you should slow down so I can catch up?"
"I thought you wanted me to hurry up and finish this war so I can be with my family sooner than later?"
Silence follows the glare set between the Sully siblings, Na'vi against human, before Kayla is the first to look away and snarl a few choice words under her breath, "Touché, Sully. Just..." She sighs, calming down until she's back to being a concerned aunt again, "Just go and check on Lo'ak, alright? It'll mean something to him if you do."
~~~~~~~~~
They should've known better. Nothing, not even being grounded from flying, would stop Lo'ak from having fun. Had he remembered this, maybe Jake would have asked Kayla to watch the kids while he, Neytiri, and Neteyam went out on patrol. But at the moment, Jake was pointedly avoiding his sister and she was avoiding him. Instead, Jake took off with his wife and firstborn and Kayla kept busy by assisting Norm with taking some samples while both of them were driving their avatars. It had been getting late in the afternoon and eclipse was supposed to happen soon. Kayla broke her focus and looked around for the first time in hours, realizing that she hadn't seen the rest of her family all day, "Hey. Have you seen the kids at all?"
Norm looked up at her question then proceeded to look around, "I don't think so."
He moved to the front of the biolab building and peered in through the window, "Huh."
"What?"
"Spider's spare is still in there," Norm turned back to Kayla and shrugged, "They probably didn't go far."
"Probably? Do you actually believe that?" She flashed a pointed look.
Doubt began to crawl into Norm's mind until he couldn't deny it, wincing at how dumb he looked, "... Shit."
Before Kayla could even call it in, she heard Lo'ak's voice in her earpiece as he called through a public channel meant for the Sullys, "Devil Dog, Devil Dog, this is Eagle Eye, over."
"Wait," Kayla orders Norm, one hand out while the other one presses into her earpiece, listening closely.
"Eagle Eye, send your traffic." Jake's voice responds.
"What's going on?" Norm whispered, unable to hear the conversation.
Kayla flaps her hand sporadically at him and hissed, "Shh!"
"I got eyes on some guys," Lo'ak continued, "They look like avatars... but they're in full camo and carrying ARs. There's six of them. Over."
"What's your POS? Over."
"Um... we're at the old shack."
"Who's 'we'?"
"Me, Spider, Kiri... and Tuk."
Silence rings over the radio call and Kayla winced, picturing the rage likely dawning on her brother's face as he sternly spoke, "Son, you listen to me very carefully. You pull back right now. Do not make a sound. You get the hell out of there. Move! You copy?"
"Yes, sir. Moving out."
"Desert Fox, did you read that?"
Kayla straightens her posture at the sound of Jake addressing her, pressing her fingers into the buttons of her throat mic, "Copy that, Devil Dog."
"I got Pathfinder and Clever Arrow with me," Kayla recounts Neteyam and Neytiri's call signs in her head and nods despite Jake not being able to see her as he continued, "We're Oscar Mike. If you don't hear back from us in three hundred mikes, send backup. Over."
"Lima Charlie. Over and out."
The radio signal cuts out and Kayla ditches her samples, jogging away while Norm follows close behind her, stumbling, "Hey, wait! Kayla, what is going on?!"
Together, Kayla and Norm informed entrusted Na'vi and avatar warriors about the situation should the worst happen. Kayla tells Mo'at in order for the tsahik to shepherd others around her and start a prayer for her family's return, but Kayla herself doesn't join the gathering. Instead, she finds herself pacing for the most part as the sky grows dark and it starts to rain, only worrying the ex-marine further. She was growing antsy as the hours drag on, wishing to send a war party after her family but dutifully waited until the three-hundred-minute mark. To keep her hands occupied, Mo'at had her get started on making her very own songcord, even though Kayla's heart wasn't all into it at the time. She weaved threads and beads almost unconsciously without giving it much thought to the point where Mo'at clicked at her in disapproval.
"It is supposed to be personal," the tsahik lectured, "It is a song for only you to know and others to learn when you sing. To create it, you must put your whole heart and soul into your waytelem. You cannot mindlessly thread impersonal items into the cord as nì'eveng would with their bracelets."
Kayla's flat nose scrunched up when her brain managed to decipher Mo'at's insult in Na'vi but otherwise said nothing against her, instead taking the whole songcord apart and promising the tsahik that she will start on a proper one when she is not as anxious. When Mo'at opens her mouth to scold Kayla, a voice abruptly startles the female avatar when it comes out like static through her earpiece.
"Desert Fox, do you copy? This is Devil Dog, over."
Kayla's tail and ears stuck straight up as she quickly bids Mo'at a quick apology before pressing her throat mic, "I read you, Devil Dog. What's your status? Over. "
"Coming in hot, T-minus ten minutes. We also got Pathfinder and Clever Arrow flying in with passengers. Clear the landing zone, over."
"Lima Charlie," Kayla walks with determination in the direction of the said landing zone, "Shall I prep med bay? Over."
Mo'at gets the message and retreats to her healing pod as Jake's voice patches back through, "Negative. Negative on med bay, over."
Kayla sighs in relief, waiting for her heart to slow down before pressing the mic again, "Copy that. Over and out."
She yells in the direction of the Longhouse, screaming Norm and Max's names before running in the direction of High Camp's main cave entrance. Kayla noticed how a small population of the clan was swarming the area meant for ikran to land their riders and spoke in her best but broken Na'vi to ask everyone to clear the way as their clan leader would be returning soon.
Strange stares were sent her way but the Na'vi all appeared to have understood as they all begin to scatter and make way. Kayla's breath catches in her throat when she heard a group of ikran flying in from below. In a fell swoop of fast, hard-beaten wings, three banshees emerge, momentarily hovering over the landing zone before touching down. The ikran exhaled heavily through their many breath holes, exhausted from all the weight they carried. Kayla lets out a sigh of relief when she easily recognized her nieces and nephews, all safe and jumping down from Jake, Neytiri, and Neteyam's ikran. Both parents and eldest child also appeared unharmed, though they looked a little worse for wear. Kayla is the only one in the gathering crowd of Na'vi to approach the family, and once Tuk caught sight of her, the little girl burst into tears and ran right up to her, arms spread wide. Kayla automatically fell to her knees and took the brunt of Tuk's embrace with little trouble, enveloping her arms around the child and gently rocking her.
"Oh, Tuk. Sweet girl, shh. It's alright," she whispered into her ear, reaching her hand up to protect the back of Tuk's neck. Looking up, Kayla immediately found Kiri and Lo'ak's faces as they walked up to stand over their aunt, and she immediately clocked their expressions, "What's wrong? What happened?"
As she looked around, silently observing her family, she took a headcount and realized there was one missing from the pack. Eyes slowly widening, she had somehow missed that there was no sign of a human boy in blue stripes, "... Where's Spider?"
No one responded. Kiri was obviously crying behind her hands and Lo'ak couldn't even look anyone in the eyes, let alone his aunt's. A chill ran down Kayla's spine when her eyes finally land on Jake and Neytiri, and one look at their faces had Kayla stand up with her hands still holding Tuk's shoulders so she could meet her brother's eye level as she glowered, "Where. Is. Spider."
"Kayla?" Norm had finally arrived and jogged up to the family, catching his breath while looking around, confused by the stand-off, "Jake, what's going on?"
"We got a problem," Jake informs Norm before turning to Kayla, his eyes equally as cold as hers. He points an accusatory finger near her face, "I want you to tell me the truth and nothing but the truth, you understand?"
Briefly, her eyes flick between confusion and defense, "What--"
"--Do you understand?" He growls.
Kayla paused, slowly letting go of Tuk and letting Neytiri grab the child before she firmly answered, "Yes."
"Did you know there were more avatars?"
Confusion flashes in her eyes again, brows furrowed, "I told you already. They planned on making more."
"But did you know they already made more?"
Shock stills her expression as she opened and closed her mouth while trying to find something to say. Jake suddenly grabs his sister by the shoulders, eyes wild with fear and anger and his tail curled straight up behind him to resemble said emotions, "Kayla! Did you know?!"
"No! I didn't!" She finally forces out, the words able to calm Jake enough to stop shaking her, "I thought I was the only one!"
"'You swear?"
"I swear."
He scoffed, "That doesn't mean shit to me, Kayla. I for one know what it's like to betray the Omatikaya and I'll be damned if I let it happen again!"
"Ma Jake, enough," Neytiri keeps Tuk behind her as she gently shoves her husband's shoulder to put some distance between him and Kayla, "She does not know and you are scaring the children."
The children were not the only ones who were scared. Kayla looks completely shattered, staring wide-eyed at her brother in disbelief. Even as he stepped back, Jake continued to glare at her with distrust and betrayal, emotions she herself felt at that moment, "... I thought you trusted me? Wouldn't that make you the liar?
Jake's face briefly froze and his tail slowly lowered. The adult Sully siblings continued their stare-off until Norm took a look around and repeated Kayla's former concern, "Where's Spider?"
Kiri regained her voice between sobs for just enough time to shout out, "They took him! Those avatars took him away!"
Kayla blinked and quickly looked away from Jake, too ashamed and embarrassed to look at him any further. Silently, she moved over to her other niece, reaching out and allowing Kiri to fall into her arms and cry into her shoulder, the teenager clearly still disturbed and heartbroken. Kayla didn't breathe a word and instead held the girl close to her body as her thoughts plagued her mind from thinking about anything rationally at the moment, too caught up in her emotions. She felt betrayed and angry at Jake for believing she lied to him, she felt anger and bloodlust for whoever took Spider, but mostly she felt shattered and scared for the boy and for Kiri who was so distraught without her best friend. Kayla reached up to pet Kiri's hair as she finally whispered, "We'll get him back. I promise."
~~~~~~~~~
Jake knew he messed up by accusing his sister of lying to him. All those months, all that progress of trying to get Kayla to trust him again and feel like a part of the family-- gone. For easily the hundredth time, he let his baby sister down and even though he wanted to mend things, he knew it would be nearly impossible, especially after today.
He went looking for her after speaking to Neytiri, finally getting his wife to see his side of things and agreeing to leave. Since yesterday, when Spider was taken, Jake had hardly seen Kayla, only catching glimpses of her during mealtimes and then disappearing again. Norm didn't say where she was, but with one look, Jake could figure it out and made the journey through the camp to find her.
As expected, he found his sister in the war tent, going over the maps scattered across the floor mats and electrical monitors along the edges of the pod, the tech so out of place in the wide-open marui. Kayla hadn't heard Jake come in, her beaded braids swishing past her big ears as she quickly moved from one map to the other, barely pausing and staying on the move at all times. Her eyes flick wildly from one screen to the other, speeding through schematics as Jake finally made his presence known.
"Kayla."
She only briefly looked up at him before her determined eyes flick back down to the datapad she held in hand, her face impassive and strict and she spoke flatly, "There you are. I need your help with mapping out potential locations where we could launch an attack on Bridgehead. I know a few blind spots, but they might've upped the security since I left."
Had she looked up, even for a moment, she would've seen the guilt-ridden emotion comfortably etched on Jake's face, an expression his aging features were used to at this point. His ears lowered the further she rants on, "We won't need many people. Just enough to get in, grab Spider, and get out. If you and I take point, we can take the heat and fire back with guns, then Neytiri and a few others could come in and use their bows if needed--"
"Kayla, slow down."
Her eyes meet up with his again, eyebrows furrowed when she finally caught his expression, "What?"
Jake sighs through his nostrils, regrettably shaking his head, "We can't launch a rescue. We're not ready."
She scoffs in disbelief, slightly amused at his stupidity, "Then what are we supposed to do? Wait it out?" Her joke fell flat when he didn't make a rebuttal, her suspicions now heightening as she narrowed her eyes at her brother, "What's on your mind?"
"I'm leaving."
For a moment, he was under the impression that time had frozen if not for the rise and falls of her shoulders indicating Kayla was breathing. She stared blankly at him, features never moving, making Jake feel unease for many reasons until she bluntly repeated the word, "Leaving."
He nods, eyes falling to the wall of the tent behind her instead as he explained, "And I'm taking my family with me. Quaritch isn't after Spider, he's after me and my kids."
"That doesn't change the fact that we need to rescue him."
"Quaritch isn't gonna hurt him--"
"You don't know that, Jake!" She snapped, ears and tail stiffening in defense, snarling between her teeth, "You have no idea what he could do to Spider! Blood or not, I wouldn't be surprised if he used Spider to get to you."
"Hence why it might be safer if I went away. Far away," Jake tried to reason with her, hands out in surrender to try not to appear threatening. His eyes practically pleaded with his younger sibling, "They can't use Spider for bait if we're gone, then they won't have a need for him."
"So they're just gonna, what? Let him go?" She scoffed at her own ridiculous rhetorical question, "They're not gonna do that."
"You don't know that." He tried reiterating the use of her own words.
Kayla tilts her head and glares at him, unconvinced, "You've spent how many years on this moon? How do you know how the Sky People act nowadays? The answer is you don't. I know Ardmore. I know her enough to know that she'll squeeze every ounce of information from Spider until he's skinnier than a rind. They'll torture him until he forgets his name. I've seen their instruments. I know what they'll do to him."
Toruk Makto winced, his eyes briefly flashing down to the scars on the crook of both her arms then looked back at her, voice heavy as he stared Kayla down, "And for Kiri's sake, you're not going to tell her that, right? For her peace of mind?"
"Jake--"
"If you believe they're capable of getting the information they want outta Spider, then that's all the more reason for me and my family to go."
Silence fills the marui, suffocating the siblings. Jake didn't dare to look away this time, expressing how serious he was being before Kayla finally gives in, scoffing in distaste as her eyes break away from his. Looking off to the side of the room, she sighed, tired and defeated but unwilling to show her brother that. Her posture relaxes and the anger bleeds out of her. Beside herself, Kayla's voice barely goes above a whisper, "Where are you going?"
He winced again, knowing she would ask but wishing she hadn't, "It's... it's best if I don't tell you for now, in case they come after you for information."
She nods knowingly, "'You mean because you don't trust me."
He winced again before shaking his head, "I do trust you."
"Recent events suggest otherwise," she snarled.
Jake was beside himself, unable to come up with any excuses, "I..."
He closed his mouth, defeated, unable to say anything right for this moment. Kayla decides to take the initiative, closing up her feelings and going around the room to clean up her maps. Her voice is low and she refused to look at him as she spoke, "Go ahead."
She sees his hand move to her in the periphery of her vision and she immediately shrinks away to continue cleaning, further building her walls up, "No, it's fine, go. Leave. I'm not mad. Why should I be? I expect this sort of behavior from you. After all, it's not the first time you left me behind. It certainly won't be the last."
The guilt was evident in his voice, even if she couldn't see his face, "Kayla... it wouldn't be safe for you to come with. To have your human body here while your avatar is thousands of miles away, it's not safe."
"The whole point of me having an avatar is to test that boundary."
"And where we're going... I'm not even sure if we'll be accepted, let alone you. You're not Na'vi. At least... not fully. Until you fully learn our ways--"
"Our ways?" She echoes, flashing a scrutinous expression as she finally looks him in the eyes in disbelief, scowling, "Our ways? Look at you. It's like you forced yourself to forget who you were and where you came from."
"I'm not human anymore."
"You were born one!" She finally screams, beginning to pace while Jake silently takes the heat, carefully watching her as she grabbed the back of her head in distress, "Jesus, how bad is it to have the best of both worlds? Why did you have to choose?"
Her voice nearly cracked under the weight of the last question, a hidden meaning that Jake understood right away and hated himself all the more for it. The marui is silent again as if she was waiting for him to answer. But when she looked up and noticed how he kept his jaw firmly shut, she realized the silence was louder than any answer he could give her. Kayla closes in on herself again, going back to cleaning up her things, "Forget it-- Forget it!" She repeats, clearing her throat to rid the heartbreak behind it, "Just go. I'll see you when I see you. And if I have to, I'll find Spider myself. That kid doesn't deserve to suffer for your sins."
"Kayla--"
"Get lost, Corporal," she muttered, voice back to a cold, robotic monotone, "Say goodbye to someone who cares."
~~~~~~~~~
The Sullys planned on going with the clan to promote Tarsem to olo'eyktan at the Tree of Souls and then leaving from there by ikran. Everything was packed and they were ready to leave High Camp. Kayla, Norm, and the other humans loyal to the Omatikaya will not be joining the Omatikaya at the Tree of Souls and therefore had to say goodbye to Jake and his family early on.
Not that Kayla wanted to say goodbye, least of all to her brother, but she made time to hold her nieces and nephews for as long as she could. Jake had to look away as she did so, ashamed of himself for bringing his sister into his children's lives and then taking them from her in such a short time.
Neytiri had to be the one to step forward to announce their departure, "Come. Or we will be left behind."
"I don't wanna go..." Tuk whimpered against Kayla's neck, breaking both her mother's and aunt's hearts.
Kayla kissed the girl's temple and put on a brave face, "Be good for your mama on your flight. I'll see you soon, okay?"
She handed Tuk off to Neytiri and was unable to avoid an embrace from the Na'vi woman herself. With Tuk on one hip, Neytiri used her free hand to pull Kayla in, pressing their foreheads together while her bottom lip quivered, "Eywa Ngahu."
Kayla placed a gentle hand on her sister-in-law's shoulder, "I'll do my best to protect your clan. I swear it."
"The last of them are leaving, folks," Norm regrettably pitches in while shaking Jake's hand and slapping his shoulder steadily with the other, "You're gonna have to catch up."
"Thank you," Jake muttered to Norm, keeping his gaze firmly on his old friend to show his gratitude, "Keep an eye on things for me. Do whatever Tarsem says. Respect his leadership, no matter what."
"You got it, boss," Norm flashes a small grin, but it wasn't as bright or as charismatic as it usually is.
Jake nods and finally pulls away, turning to his family, "It's time."
Feeling rushed, Kayla quickly gathers the older niece and nephews around her, trying her best to get her arms around all of them, and proceeds to kiss all three of their foreheads while they in turn try to keep holding on tight, "Behave yourselves. Do everything you can to help out your parents. Stay safe and keep an eye on your sister."
Kayla then leans her head against Kiri's, kissing the top of her hair while whispering soft enough for only the teens to hear, "I'll find him, okay? I'll find him and bring him back to you."
All three pull away from her and flash their gratitude through their eyes. Neteyam dutifully nods and leads his younger siblings away while all three continued to periodically look back at their aunt even as they mount their respective ikran. Neytiri, Tuk, and Jake follow suit, the child riding with her mother. Jake makes tsaheylu with Bob and leans back for a moment, taking in the sights of High Camp before his eyes flick down to Kayla's.
She meets his gaze with a stern one of her own and she simply nods. Jake tightens his jaw and grits his teeth behind his lips, unable to let the words out no matter how hard he tried. Eventually, he just nods back and looks away, internally commanding Bob to take flight. They lift off and Neytiri vocally caws to get her own banshee flying up, holding on tight to Tuk while she turns back, ululating to summon the rest of her children to follow. Neteyam dutifully follows without a second thought, but Lo'ak and Kiri hesitate before they, too, took off into the air.
Kayla watches them go until they've completely vanished from sight... and even then she watches some more.
A/N: Sorry if it's rushed again. Next chapter is a filler before we return to the film's events.
Txe'la and Meui are OCs and are not from the original franchise, same goes for Jocelyn. I just decided that these background Na'vi and humans need names and entire backstories and yes they're totally fucking, too.
childhood friends to lovers with victoria neuman. but it’s the boys, so it’s not perfect at all. fluff and angst and slight nsfw.
Tumblr media
it wasn't your fault that your teleportation led to some...unsavory situations. but you never took it too far. the most drastic thing you had done was looking at a picture and taking yourself to a theme park when you were supposed to be taking your mid-year final, and even when you got back home with a hastily hidden stuffed puppy in your backpack your mother forced you to go back to school to retake it at seven at night.
you knew your parents pushed you to be perfect, you just didn't think they'd grow so sick of your 'disobedience' that they'd drop you off on the steps of red river with a suitcase and that same puppy in your hands. you waited for days in your bunk bed staring out the window for them to come back, that it was some sick form of punishment they'd decided to inflict on you.
they never did.
after a year of lashing out at the staff workers and sticking to yourself unless totally necessary, you started to try assimilating to your new environment. you finally started to talk to the girl that slept above you, rebecca, until one day she bounded into the room while you were writing in your diary with a bright smile and news that she was being adopted. you couldn't pretend to be happy for her, and didn't talk to her for the rest of her time there despite her efforts, something you would go on to regret.
but you thanked whatever god was in the sky for those people adopting her, because only two weeks later your group caretaker came in and told you all that a new orphan would be taking rebeccas place. beckoning a girl into the room from the hall. when she entered you noticed she was around the same age as you, with eyes more haunted than any person you'd ever seen.
later that day you were sitting by yourself while eating the not so bland but not-so-great lunch when you looked up and made eye contact with your new roommate from across the room, both of you looking away atthe same time.
when you looked back a while later she had her chin in the palm of her hand while the other mushed around the mashed potatoes on her plate. maybe it was pity, maybe it was interest, or maybe it was because you were a not-yet-realized gay preteen, but in five seconds you were standing up and popping up in front of her. she jerked to attention so suddenly that you were scared you'd give her a heart attack. and maybe yourself as your head started to pound, likely from using your powers without focusing.
neither one of you said anything until you slowly sat in the seat across from her, looking her over to make sure she was okay with your presence and wouldnt cry or flinch again.
you told her your name and apologized for startling her, that you hadn't used your power in a while because you hated it. she told you she was nadia and that she hated hers, too.
after that the two of you became friends. it wasn't quick and it wasn't easy, given the two of you still had immense trauma and issues with trusting others. but there was something that connected you to her and vice versa, and when you both realized that you had someone who understood what the other had gone through, your friendship started to blossom.
only a year and a half later the two of you were as close as you could be. you spent nearly every moment together, from the time you woke up in your shared bunk bed, sitting together during teaching time, gagging at the gross-looking fruit at lunch, reading books together during free time, before trying to whisper to each other before your caretaker would come in and reprimand you for being up past midnight.
but sometimes you would find yourself back in that dark place. wondering how your parents could live with abandoning you, why they never considered that if they just asked you would never use your powers again, why you were even born like this. one time you ignored nadia for a few days because of your feelings, and once you had explained everything she told you that she had understood. you weren't expecting her to confide in you that she was in some way responsible for the death of her parents. before you could think you were asking her if she could do the same for you, and you were so scared she was going to be offended before she was laughing.
every day you found yourself grateful for nadia. she was funny and understanding and would help you kick some kid's ass because he was picking on one of the little ones. the two of you might have had a bit of a codependency problem, but anyone in your situation would.
and then the people in suits came, said they thought nadia was 'special' and in only a day she was gone. you tried hard not to cry, but you couldn't help it when you were giving her your last goodbye, making her promise on her life that she'd keep in contact with you, telling her you'd teleport to wherever she was going and kick her ass if she even tried to forget about you. and she promised she wouldn't.
she lied.
years later you turn eighteen and are kicked out of red river with nothing but the small amount of things you'd acquired over the years. you had a ged thanks to the school teachings at the home, but you're near dirt poor with not much going for you. but you refuse to let yourself dwell in your emotions any longer, and decide to finally use the gifts you've been given for your benefit. at that point you hadn't jumped since she left, so your first few trials were a little rocky. though after a few determined tries you had started to get a new handle on your power.
eventually, life starts to become enjoyable again. you started out by just looking up pictures of airbnb's, rentals, and hotel rooms before jumping and staying in them until you had to move. while working odd jobs was more noble, you started to use your powers for more...profitable means. you didn't think the greatest accomplishment you'd make in your twenties would be robbing five banks, but you didn't mind it much when you got to live in the quiet luxury you did.
all of that would have been impossible without a team, though. for a large portion of your criminal career you had a somewhat trusted group of people who could help you get things done. jumping into places was useful, but you couldn't handle it all by yourself. they were the closest things you had to friends, to family. even though one of the guys you used for extra protection tried to choke you once over a smart comment. but yeah. family.
but you were smart, and you knew you could never put your full trust into anyone like you did when you were young. so you weren't really surprised when you popped back inside the base after a run with multiple assault rifles pointed at your head, your teammates far gone. once whoever this force was took you into custody one of their attorneys told you the crew sold you out for three million and you scoffed, disappointed that they didn't go for more.
when the agent hears something in his earpiece and leaves the room you start to get ready for them to come back and let you know they’re going to send you to that supermax prison for supes youd been hearing about on the streets, preparing yourself and redoing over the protocol you did every time you nearly or did get caught. maybe you could find someone in there with similar interests to yours and just manage to slip out-
a man comes into the room. slightly tall, in a tailored suit with brown skin and small glasses. but you remember him like it’s yesterday. the one who took your best friend away all those years ago like a ghost in the night.
he tells you his name, that he works for the stupid superhero company and he has an offer for you. the last thing you wanted was to be a fed, but when he told you some of the things they did to unruly supes like you, you realized his offer was your only best option.
as much as you hated it, he told you there was a list of requirements he needed from you in exchange for your freedom and a total wipe of your criminal record. the first was moving over back to new york which nearly made you throw up; youd only been to the city once since you left for a meetup with a contact who had information about one of your hits.
he told you the rest would be revealed once you settled into the city, a plane ticket and a cushy hotel already provided for you. when you werw getting onto the plane, escorted by two agents for the rest of your trip which you were told was not an option unless you wanted a tracker, the only thought running through your head was that this was weird. vought specialized in superheroes, although by what youve been hearing these last few years the heroic part was a stretch. them sending someone as professional and shady as mr.edgar was rubbing you in all the wrong ways.
once you landed in the big apple and finally settled into your hotel...nothing happened. at least for a week it didnt. being on edge for a week wasnt new to you, lord knows how many times youve had to spend weeks in safehouses after nearly getting burnt. but you had a feeling in your chestthat at the end of your waiting something would happen. you couldnt tell if it would be good or bad.
a week later you hear a rough knock on the door and hesitantly move to open it. all you had for protection were the shitty knives in the kitchenette, the agents refusing to give you any other form of protection. you open the door and try to get into a protective stance before your knife flops to the floor. its been so many years but you can still tell its her staring at you from the other side of the doorway.
nadia.
for a second you think the toxic fumes of the city have already caused you to become delusional before you feep the force of her running her body into yours, wrapping your arms around her waist and holding a grip so tight you're scared it will hurt her.
before you know it you're both crying, her blubbering about how shes so sorry she never kept in contact with you, that edgar didnt want her to have any ties to her own life holding her back for the 'important things' he needed her to do. but you couldnt care. all you could focus on was that you had you nadi back. and she had grown up so much since you'd last seen her, so different but so the same. when she pulled back and looked you over you could tell she was thinking the same.
she sat you down on one of the comfy hotel couches and started to explain everything she could. that she was working with edgar, saw him as a father figure even, that as soon as he heard that a supe with your description was caught after a failed heist he alerted her, asked her what she wanted to do with you.
you asked her what exactly she did want to do with you, and her shoulders tightened and her lips pursed. everything had a catch. this was you were going to help her with her...work. she gave you some of the gory details, and while you werent a saint without blood on your hands you were surprised by the amount she had on her. from the shy girl who sat at that little lunch table to a cold and calculated murderer. you were kind of proud of her.
but the pride was mixed with jealousy. she gave you a private tour of her office where she worked, showed you her campaigns, her brownstone in the heart of the city along with a private driver discretely paid for by vought. it's not like you'd been on the shoet end of the money stick since you started stealing but she had all of this just...handed to her. picked amongst everyone in that orphanage, instead of you.
you tried not to let your jealousy rise too much. nadia - victoria, now - made sure to include you in nearly everything she did, wanting to make up for all the time she lost with you. after spending so much time together you could tell she didnt have many close attachments because of trauma and work, really only caring about zoe and her very confusing relationship with her adoptive father. it felt nice that she was trying to rebuild that bond again with you.
one night she invites you over to her house for wine, drinking, and telling each other stories about your younger years. but eventually, the alcohol starts to get to both of you just when you're telling stories about old loves and relationships. you tell her about a wild night you had with three strangers in rome and she drones about her ex-husband, a guy she met in college who seemed nice and polite enough to help her get the life she wanted, although she never felt satisfied with him, always looking for something more. you ask her what she's been looking for and she goes quiet before looking at you. she moves a faint hair from in front of your face, like shes pushing herself to do it in her head before she pussies out, grips your cheek to bring you in for a kiss.
and it really feels like you've come back to a home you nearly forgot. you can hear the sound of your wine glasses shattering as they drop to the floor, pulling her body into yours like you wanted to consume her and everything she was. it lasts for hours, just another part of trying to make up all those years apart.
when you wake up in the morning you're still in each other's arms, and before you open your eyes you can feel her hand trailing over your face, nearly identical to the way she did it when you were kids to wake you up. she's whispering under her breath and you can faintly pick up the things she's saying. how she's so thankful she found you again, how she doesn't plan on losing you by her side again, that she can't wait to tell you about all the wonderous and bloody things you're going to do together. you press a kiss on her hand.
Marisa backstory right this instant 🔫
People want to know about my original character? The giant scarred lesbian? She’s so scary 😭
I can’t reveal too much until the next part of Pinky Promises is finally complete (I’m juggling 8 fics right now). But she’s a protective and possessive yandere who takes awhile to realize she’s very, very gay.
It also depends on which AU I have her in. But she’s almost always a very protective and quite aggressive woman with ugly facial scars on the left side of her face. She only has a soft spot for her beloved childhood friend and she’s not shy about showing off her feelings at all. She’d lay her life down for her love if she had to. You’ll never find a lover more devoted than her.
She’s not conventionally attractive at all with a prominent dorsal humo on her large nose, cinnamon eyes, and short, crimson hair. She’s more masculine looking than most men.
Tumblr media
But Marisa was once an orphan who was abandoned by her parents because of her blood red hair. People with red hair are believed to have monster blood in them due to their enhanced physical strength. And her parents were scared she’d grow up violent due to her temper she had as a child (she just wanted attention from them). So they left her on the street where she learned how to survive for a few years before the orphanage picked her up.
But she was not a child anyone wanted. She had a horrible temper and was very hostile due to her trust issues. No one wants a broken child… at least until she met (your name).
Marisa was weary at first and constantly tried to shove the other girl away from her but failed. It takes awhile for them to get close but Marisa latches on once she realizes she’s (your name)’s protector. Something about protecting gets her going.
She ruins potential new friends ships and even adoption processes to keep (your name) by her side. She doesn’t give a shit if no one likes her, she just needs her best friend. They’re a package deal.
So when they’re adopted together, she’s so happy. She doesn’t ever want to leave their side. Marisa doesn’t realize it’s love she feels but she constantly crawls in their bed with them to sleep.
The older they get, the more Marisa wants to impress her sweet (your name). She starts to steal again. She’ll steal nice desserts, meals, and once she decides to steal jewelry which makes her run into a particularly nasty guard. The guard shows no mercy as he takes it upon himself to ‘punish’ her.
The left side of her face is permanently disfigured in ugly scars. It’s hard to look at her face for most people now but not her best friend. Marisa adores the affection her friend shows her. It’s when she begins to realize she’s in love with her, that it all makes sense to Marisa.
(Your name) is never getting rid of her. Marisa’s touches become more bold and she’ll start to press kisses all over her shoulders and neck. It becomes an all consuming hunger and she has every intention to satiate it.
She starts to become the ferocious monster everyone believed her to be to everyone else but to her lover. She’d do anything to protect her princess after all.
The other Roscente girl
Tumblr media
you're my best friend, I’ll love you forever.
For sake of inclusivity and proper self insertion, you’re an adopted sister. cw: Aria is a bit possessive.
Tumblr media
You were brought into the home after your mother died, she was a common prostitute and an old friend of Aria's mother. Your father was a married nobleman so when she died, naturally, he didn't wish to risk the ire of his wife by bringing an illegitimate child into their home so he did not claim you. Although Carin had married into wealth and privilege, your mother had continued having to live the life she escaped. When she met you, you were on the streets wearing rags while she had been out shopping. Carin felt a little guilty over that and decided to ask permission to take you in as her ward.
Aria never knew her mother to be a philanthropist so she was surprised when her mother brought home a random orphan. She did enjoy how much your presence pissed Mielle off, though. Since one of the young ladies of the house shunned you, you turned to the other. She was wary at first and a little bit threatened (though she'd never admit it), but a certain solidarity was reached between you two when she found out unflattering rumors were being spread about you. That you faced the same prejudice for your status that she did. You were Aria’s only friend in the house, the only one who simply liked her without wanting something from her.
The two of you together are a problem, coming up with all sorts of ways to mess with the people who look down on you two. You’re Aria’s greatest partner in crime because you’ve always been seen as meek and well mannered and you can get away with things she can’t. You’re the first person she ever told about her power and her intentions for Count Roscente and his children. You like her even when she's behaving like a brat and although people consider you the milder daughter, you can be as deviously crafty or maybe even more so.
Aria can get jealous of your friends and likes to remind them in that passive aggressive noble way that they’ll never be as close to you as she is. She might even use the hourglass to pull on their hair and step on their dresses if they piss her off enough. Although the two of you are distinct in style, sometimes the two of you will dress in the same colors, wear matching jewelry or do similar hairstyles. Carin will basically act like that scene in Victorious where Jade goes “They’re identical, look at them” then the camera pans to Andre and Beck. Sometimes she’ll be impressed by you doing something crafty or smart then she’ll go, “well, you are my daughter so it’s only natural you’d be talented.”
Count Roscente might consider you a pet/hobby for his ornamental second wife to amuse herself with but she sees you as her daughter as much as Aria sees you as her genuine sister.
Carin is an admittedly permissive parent but just the same as her biological daughter, you’re still her primary concern. Fuck everyone else, it’s you and Aria she’s looking out for. She wants you to avoid struggling like she and your mother had so despite her carefree nature, she does all she can to set you up for an easy future. Luckily for her, Aria had the same sentiments. When she's crown princess, she intended to make sure you lived in the lap of luxury. But not before she destroyed the house of your father who left you to starve on the streets, right along with the Roscente county.
I'd love to see a one piece fic where we just see exagerated versions of their dynamic in a modern way, and let me explain this with Zoro.
First we'd see how he was left by his parents at the dojo, orphan Zoro getting foster care by Kuina's father, but i don't see him actually seeing that man as a father figure.
Now lets also say Kuina didn't die at a young age and rather stayed with him until she had just started middle school. At this point, if Zoro now, can call her a best friend, if they spent this long together, I think he would see her as a sibling and they would call each other sis and baby bro (to annoy him).
Again, Kuina doesn't die, but lets say she moves out of the country to other relatives, leaving Zoro alone when he was about to start middle school. So he one day has the 'got lost and never came back' incident during his first year. But everyone at the dojo thought he ran away bc Kuina left. So they didn't bother to look for him.
Lost and alone he manages to run into Mihawk, in this world, world champion. He knows Mihawk so he, even if he was ashamed, decided to ask him for directions to the nearest dojo.
Mihawk, upon seeing wet cat Zoro, decides to take care of him, as he asked where his parents were and Zoro told him he was an orphan.
Mihawk takes him under his wing and goes trough with the adoption process. At first Zoro doesn't really care as long as he has a place to train and stay but soon starts to see them as his actual family. By this time Perona was already adopted by Mihawk and is also and older sister for him.
Drac enrolls Zoro in school and gives him the training. They make him go to all the fancy schools Perona also goes/went to, cuz they don't trust Zoro's judgment to choose one.
And this also includes his university.
He decides to follow the same as Mihawk and in this uni he meets all his friends from different majors and also gets into the masculine judo club.
He doesn't know, but it's the fanciest uni in the country and Kuina is also there.
She didn't know about him, until she say him when he went to look for Perona (which she shares a few classes with) and instantly recognised his green hair.
She couldn't lie about being kindda hurt when she heard him call Perona older sis, but went on with life without saying anything.
Zoro took way longer to notice, bc it was Tashigi who pointed her out to him, when she was talking about this really tall girl she admires named Kuina and he was flabergasted.
Their encounter was emotional and awkward, but they decided to have a sparing session to test each other.
They used the unis campus for this, at night, and Kuina told him that she thought she was ready to challenge Mihawk and Zoro told her she still was no match for his old man, and Kuina went YOUR???
Soooo I’m guessing the mermaids and humans can’t have “fry” together the usual way, but how would the mermaids react to a darling who wants to start a family or pod with them? 🥹
P.S. hope you’re doing alright! Pls don’t overwork yourself <3
if you express a desire to have children with them, the girls would discuss it amongst themselves first. trying to pin down the logistics, if it'd even be possible for them to have kids with you, whether or not they'd be hybridized if you can, etc etc. but they all come to the same opinion; they're ABSOLUTELY starting a family with you, no questions asked.
orphan baby merfolk aren't uncommon pod members, so adoption is always a possibility. buuuut 👀 you don't know if you can't have kids with them if you don't try 👀 especially if it's the height of mating season 👀 soooo.... you'll definitely be dragged off to an underwater cave to try and make it happen
Terraformer AU: Basic 2
Masterlist
Let's get this going before I forget, maybe I'll edit it later:
Primal is very curious in the fact that humans look and act a lot like eukarians, humans eat other things to live and so they do! (Cybertronians look at them like animals for this) so he is very pleased to greet the first humans to the colony, he meets his conjunx as one of the ones that come from Earth as refugees after another war, (Primal tries to be partial but the bots from Cybertron seems to have a natural talent for war), he notices that many human have younger versions around, even you, but that doesn't stop him from pursuing this human that he feels attached to, chaos unsues, of course, he is the first member of the tribe leaders to choose a human conjux endura, what's worse (in his people's optics) is that you two also adopt a human kid, one orphan of the war, is difficult but he comes to terms with the fact that his little family will perish before him, Primal doesn't care, he will cherish every moment together as a loving conjunx and a doting mentor, but he doesn't have the chance to do it, when Unicron arrives Primal is just a puppet of his will and destruction, he even almost gets killed in a war that he didn't want to be part of and the moment that he is finally free he can only find his son that looks at him as a monster, Primal almost lost it before the kid is returned to him by a human protection department, he doesn't know what happened to his conjunx, he only believed, and wants to keep believing, that you are still out there, he wants to believe that the pain in his spark is a wound from the battle, it has to be, it must be, Toshio just looks at his father, that keeps searching for you.
Bumblebee has always been close with the humans, to the point that he finally tries to settle down with his human conjux, he really isn't ready to be a mentor, or a father like humans call it, but war has left many kids behind and Bee is the most (adorable) easy bot to approach for many kids, he just ends up with one by his own and his conjunx goes along with him, once again he thinks that he isn't ready to be a mentor, but after all the whole fiasco of his death and return he almost lost his whole family (Bee's conjunx is this 🤏 close to filling for a divorce and taking Rosalinde) because he keeps on getting his life in danger, then dies, and not even a day in the world of the living and he is going to risk it again, when the war is gone he swears to never leaving them behind again, and both humans start to cry because they are so angry at him but also so relieved to have him back, it took years raising her to have Bee finally see that he can be a good father, Bee wanted his sparkling to have a very badass and cool name and the little sparkling that comes gets named Blood Horn even when all she has of blood it's her pink like energon color and what she has of horn are the little things poking from her helm, the worst is that she likes her name and keeps it even when she is even smaller and cuter than her sire (BH even puts this act of though girl boss but no one can take her seriously with that little ribbon in one of her horns and her big and round optics) and he finally has a taste of his own medicine when BH joined the elite guard (he's so proud but oh so terrified for her well being), you don't take a break before because of Bee's risky behavior and now BH is the same, or even worse, constant heart attack.
Cheetor is in love with his soon to be conjunx the moment that the little human showed a little bit of understanding, truly do it, not looking at him like a child (it was natural since he was, well, billions of years older) it was silly and funny, that's how many maximals saw it, the kid was happy and no one really thought that he would do something about it in reality, but then Primal goes and marries a human and adopted another, no one in his tribe can stop Cheetor from starting a relationship with his human friend by hunting the biggest thing he can find and then dropping it at the human's feet, while this eukarian friend of yours looks expectant, that title changes quite soon to boyfriend, a good and cute name that humans use, just like the other eukarians he is used by Unicron, by the time he gets himself together the fear of blood on his claws almost ended him, but his human finds him, he can only cry in relief, he ends up taking care of some human kids that he feels as his, when they are ready they finally complete the ritual and have a sparkling, it gets difficult to find a name because he doesn't have idea of what is coming from the hot spot (like beast wars protoforms choose their alt mode and it can be different from whoever got to them first), Viperus ends up being some kind of chimera and his alt-mode shows that but Cheetor loves him any way even when his sparkling tries to poison him every chance he has, his tribe has already accepted this kid, and the kid's kid is strong as hell.
Soundwave just likes how regular his conjunx is, it gives him a sense of security, that things will stay the same and he will not lose his conjunx since they are far from the lines of war, the cassettes he has left try to understand his decision and in reality kind of expected it (they're happy for him) but they didn't thought it would be with a human, because under all that metal, Soundwave is way too emotional and sensible, more than he really let's others see, they all know that he is going to suffer when time takes away his conjunx, Soundwave himself knows, his conjunx knows, so the latter is the one that brings the idea of a techno-organic child up, Soundwave is opposed to the mere assumption of one, to bring one of those a human must experience pain by being burned from the sentio metallico, he doesn't want any pain to come to his conjunx, so the idea just stayed there before he was ready, Mayhem is a perfect copy of Soundwave when he finally ends his growing period and looked like a casette while being a protoform, almost every detail is way too similar and when Mayhem uses his voice box for the first time some cassettes lost their credits by some foolish bet because he talks... well, normally. Soundwave is way too protective of his whole family, as his human conjunx call it (his cassettes, his conjunx and his sparkling) and whoever at least looks bad in their direction, well, Mayhem knows about cybertronian and organic biology in detail for a reason, wants to be a medic too, (every bot member of the family gasped with indignation at this, what a waste of natural talent! Have you seen those big blasting speakers you were born with?!)
Grimlock ends up raising the strange project that is a baby with a spark, it's not even a joke when Connie was little and out of the incubation chamber he could feel the humming of her spark on her little chest, at first Nickel tried to get him away from the baby, since he still had this panic attacks that ended with sheer violence, Connie was a baby, an organic one, and no one had the most remote idea of what she could eat or, worse, what she could excrete, so they got to Earth where he encounters his future conjunx, could it be that hormones did his magic in him? The necessity? He doesn't know and he doesn't care, he ends up with a organic conjunx and a kid, it's a little tricky at first, the others don't even understand why he did what he did (how did he do it so fast? How do you even spark bond with an organic?!), The whole group pre given wariness around the organic gets washed away when they see the cute pair of organics around, Grimlock's conjunx even played with them from time to time, of course, years go on and Connie is now a little lady, a pretty much crazy and fucked up little lady with the family that she got, but she is everything that he could've ever asked (and all he will ever want, Primus, it was difficult to keep her alive till now) maybe in the future he would want another, for now, he likes to just stay with his new family and have you near to recharge together.
Thundercracker gets his human baby girl in the very same way he finds Buster, in an alley, and he just decided there and then that she is now his, and yours by sub product since you two were already married by human tradition in his head, it was an internal joke (it happened in one of those state kermes while you were too drunk and he believed that the whole deal was real), when he gets the baby to you it's quite the surprise, at first you and Marissa fear that he may have done something illegal (like kidnapping a baby by accident) but no, no one comes to reclaim the child and you two really are provisional parents when TC refuses the mere idea of letting go of the baby, going as far as pointing his arm gun to the police officers that tried to take the baby to an orphanage while Buster was also barking, keeping the baby safely tucked in his cockpit shouting "You will take her away from me over my cold.dead.servos!" So yeah, you have a daughter now. It comes natural that when TC asked you how could you let those cops almost take the child that miraculously found her way to your happy marriage, you tell him the truth and he goes full on crying ("what do you mean we aren't married?! Are you leaving me with our child? Are you going to buy cigarettes now?!") Yeah, it got out of proportion rather quickly (what kind of content was he even seen now?) He is a little resentful after that, trying to hide the baby from you, but finally giving into it when movies and series can't help him with raising a real child alone, so he goes to Marissa, she doesn't have any idea of what to do apart from the basics, and he finally goes to you, being quite dramatic in how you broke his spark by leaving the house (house as in his place in the base) but he let's you be near with time and ends up telling you to come back home (again, his little corner) and maybe is the tenderness of the whole deal, how he is just so delicate and caring that makes that drunk kermes wedding a reality, making Thundercracker the first ever cybertronian to realize conjunx ritual with a human and Max the first ever child to be raised in a mixed species household, (oh yeah, it also makes Skywarp and Starscream the first uncles of an organic child)
- A very bitter memory for young Miko that caused him to quit art for good
- Met his biological parents years after he moved out, the reunion was quite touching
- Due to financial issues at the time, they had to leave Miko in the orphanage, hoping he'd grow up having a better life
- Miko immediately helped them settle down in a place they can call home
- His adopted family was hesitant on Miko's decision, but after meeting his parents in person all of them immediately got along
- Doesn't engage but knows every celebrity drama with details
- Whenever any major social event happens and the rivalry shit goes down he'll be sitting in the distance, sipping tea and rolling his eyes
If you saw my last post - then you'll understand why I'm making this one!! Plus I'm showing off the amazing art by my friend Nere - I'm here to explain all my Next Gen's partners!! (Pearl and Kid's partners will just have to be explained later though.... sorry Kin and Otto.) I've added the chart again so you know the names of everyone in case for some reason it got confusing.. anyway!! ~ "Glitch, what did you mean in that last post that you couldn't have Guy and Darwin together?" ... welp I guess now's a good time to introduce the Next Gen's partners!! Starting with Pig. (Pig in a blanket Dog). If you remember in the show Guy said he was "born attached to his two brothers" - yeah. Echo and I have named them "Hot Dog Dude" and "Hot Dog Man". Dude ended up with a teen pregnancy (17, same age as Gum) which resulted in Pig being born. But Dude wasn't the best parent and didn't really want the responsibility.. so Guy stepped up. Ends becoming more of a father to his nephew than Dude ever was. Guy even legally adopts Pig at some point, and Pig sees Dude as more of an 'uncle' instead. (I'm sure that's confusing but idk man, it is what it is.) Anywaysss - Pig ends up with Zipper!! ("Childhood friends to Lovers” trope). Very sappy and in love!! The reason I didn't wanna put Guy with Darwin is because well.. Zip is Darwin's nephew. Wouldn't it be odd if your uncle is dating your boyfriend's dad...? ("Glitch, Guy isn't biologically Pig's dad though?" - I know, but it's.. the principal.. okay???) So I figured it's just easier to keep Guy and Dar as good friends. (I say all this as if there isn't confusing stuff later.. I'LL GET TO IT.) - Moving on; Leonard (Lenny) is obviously; Larry and Karen's son! (I did make a post recently saying that Larry is also married to Small, yep that's still true. Go read that post if you're confused though. Lenny ends up with Cas!! ("Friends to Lovers" trope. Yes all the GR kids have a 'romance trope' with their relationships cause I think it's fun!) -
Continuing down the line - Cosette ends up with Wessley. He is just an Oc with OC parents. Isn't a next gen of anyone in canon so there's not much to explain there. (their 'trope' is the "Coffee Shop Romance" btw!) I don't have much to say about them other than I love them!! (I love all my next gen ships.)
- Nezt up is Elliot who ends up with a boy named Rodney (Rod)! He is the son of "Shooting Star" (which I just say at this point is his name. Another Hot Dog Guy situation lol) As for Rodney's mom? She was an anonymous surrogate. I know who she is (yes it's another bg character, I'm sure you could figure out which one.) Rod plays a pivotal role in Eli's life, and ironically their 'trope' is "Second Chances''. They go through trials and errors but work though it <33 - Aaaaand finally for the twins; Roe ends up with Nimble and Rem ends up with a girl named Lei! Nimble is a fictional lizard/gator thing, a species I made up and still don't have a name for :') Nim was an orphan but eventually adopted by some of Cas' classmates (who, are adults at this point and are Oc's so no canon characters again.) Roe and Nim are the classic "Enimies to Lover's" trope - just like GumRob! Nim was Roe's 'nemesis' (it was more of a one sided thing. Roe hated Nim way more than Nim could ever hate Roe LMAO). Took Roe a while to even ADMIT he had any feelings for Nim. (Of course the whole fam teased him about it.) -
Rem ends up with Lei - the daughter of Chi Chi and LeXing. ("Who's LeXing?" - does Miracle Star sound familiar? If not, Miracle Star was the carbon copy of TAWoG which then inspired the "Copycats" episode that Chi Chi starred in.) Yeah, Chi Chi wasn't happy to hear his daughter was with a Watterson so their 'trope' is "Forbidden Lovers" but that's a much more dramatic title. Chi Chi was not happy in the slightest.. but it wasn't like he didn't allow them to date, ya know? - I hope this gives some insight on these guys ;v; and PLEASE go check out my friend Nere, the one who drew the 6 images of all the GR kids and their partners <33
(I might add more later)
Round 2, Match 29: Artemy Burakh vs. Barry and Iris West-Allen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Submitted kids:
Artemy Burakh: Murky and Sticky
Barry and Iris West-Allen: Wally West, Wallace 'Ace' West, Avery Ho, Jesse Chambers
Propaganda under the cut!
Artemy Burakh:
1. “Might not be as many kids as other submissions, but it literally only takes a few days between this man rolling into town and him getting adopted by those 2 kids (and kinda by other kids in town, but the others don't outright come live with him so i only counted them)”
2. “Will see the muddiest little orphan child you've ever seen, ask "is anyone gonna adopt that" and then not wait for an answer. Also looks after five OTHER children who he needs to keep alive in order to ensure a future for his hometown. He loves them all very much even if he's grumpy about it (he has so many reasons to be grumpy).”
3. “Sticky and Murky are two orphans that can be found on the list Artemy's father, Isidor Burakh, left for him before he died. Pathologic is set during a massive plague where there are many dangers occurring at the same time in the town. Artemy adopts Sticky and Murky in order to look after them and keep them safe. Sticky is a 12 year old boy who used to be Isidor's student, so he views Isidor as a good person. Murky is an 8 year old girl who's parents died because of Isidor's actions pre-game, so she views him negatively. This originally makes them argue but they grow to see eachother as siblings and in the Diurnal Ending of Pathologic 2, Artemy, Sticky and Murky will live together in Isidor's old house like a family. In short: Artemy came back to his childhood home to follow up on a letter his dad sent him and ended up becoming a father in the span of like 12 days.”
Barry and Iris West-Allen:
"Barry Allen marries a woman whose siblings are horrible parents and so he was like okay these are our kids now. Wally has said multiple times that he considers Barry and Iris to be more his parents than his biological ones. Ace's told him he was his uncle and that his uncle (Wally's dad) was his dad except Rudy also sucked so he was practically raised by Iris. Avery's a weird one, because she was a random teen who got speed powers and Barry's like okay you're part of the family now.
Literally if you are a kid and can run fast you are part of the family now."
We Stan supportive Dad Clones ✊
I love all your Dad!Clones drabbles have i told you that enough?? 😚
The whole premise behind these drabbles is "No clone baby will be anxious around their dad."
Cause, like, legit. My most vivid memory of my dad is him getting mad at me when I was ten for my room not being clean enough for him, and trashing my room and putting all of my stuff on the floor in the middle of the room.
Dad!Clones would never.
Anyway! Talking about my dad makes me sad, so let's have some Dad!Cody~
Cody is a single dad who adopts 3 siblings, who are war orphans. They are 6 years old, 3 years old, and 2 years old respectively.
The two older children are boys, and the youngest is a little girl.
All three of them end up with orange shirts that have the words "If lost, return to the 212" printed on them.
Cody's a busy man, but he always has time for his kids. Even if it means that the kids are in a debriefing with him, or if he's doing paperwork while spending time with them.
"These are MY kids-" Cody says. "You mean OUR kids, right Commander?" Waxer replies.
Unending line of enthusiastic babysitters in the form of the 212.
Cody makes sure that he gets one on one time with each of the kids. For the oldest one, that means going to the gym with him and teaching him how to throw a punch. For the middle one, it's sitting together and listening to him create stories from nothing. And for the baby it's as simple as cuddling her and reading a story to her.
Cody's the one who creates the Creche Babysitting Service. Which is a fancy way for saying that he drops his three kids off at the Jedi Creche, with them wearing ID bracelets identifying their names, ages, and his name, as well as what Battalion he belongs to.
