(described by theon, who had psychological reasons not to think of any hair-resemblance to robb and co.)

tl;dr i suppose my point here is that auburn hair in the real world may be a term thrown around wildly as a fancier way of saying red hair, but grrm and his westerosi creations seem to keep to a much more specific (true) definition. not just specific, almost entirely unique to a certain family, a weird mutation passing down their line somewhat inexplicably, like the magic platinum hair of the targaryens. (ned stark's 4 tully-haired kids being sorta like alicent hightower's 4 targ-haired kids where nobody can really explain why it was so dominant.) except it's actually more unique to the tullys than either black hair to the baratheons or silver hair to the targaryens, with the velaryons also having valyrian hair as well as some people in the essosi free cities too. which i guess makes rowan the wildling the equalivent of an unknown dragonseed or a lysene woman who could pass as a targ, and regular brown-haired hoster and sweetrobin the equivalent of regular blonde-haired alysanne and alyssa targaryen. so the next time someone calls the tullys lame or whatever, just remember that in-universe they're actually more special than the dragonriders, at least hairwise.

"Sansa = Ned 2.0 and Arya = Catelyn 2.0" is one of those takes where you can just tell people are more attached to the aesthetic than anything. "The Stark girls are most like the parent they look least like" sounds good on paper and people run with the idea, regardless of how it actually fits into the story. A majority of the justification relies on misinterpreting all of their characters + a healthy dose of fanon. What gets me is that this is the same fandom that insists that Lyanna, only compared to Arya in the text, is equal parts Arya and Sansa but Ned and Catelyn, two fully fleshed-out and complex characters, have to be more like one girl or the other? There's just nothing in the story to justify being so adamant about these comparisons. Arya and Sansa have parallels with both of their parents but at the end of the day, they are unique characters with their own stories. I'll never understand why people want to flatten these complex characters down to their most basic tropes and fit them into restrictive boxes just for a "poetical~" comparison.

It's Queen Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm. Queen of Meeren, Breaker of Shackles, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea and Mother of Dragons for you not Dany.

Same thing for Rhaenyra, it's not Rhae or Nyra is: Queen Rhaenyra of House Targaryen first of her name. Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm.

If you are feeling lazy just called them Queen Rhaenyra or Queen Daenerys, but you lost the right to nicknames when you misunderstood the books so badly. Argue with the wall.

anti targs love acting like Targaryen women, specially Rhaenyra and Daenerys, haven’t experienced trauma. the “alicent’s big doe eyes” thing and dany antis who pit Sansa against her (but like Cersei ironically) and treat her pain like it is non-existent. I get that show!Alicent is (sadly) different than book!Alicent, but show!Alicent would not get nearly as much sympathy if she were like her book counterpart.

LOOK AT THIS GIRL. Does she look like she’s been having a great time?

Targaryens, especially Targaryen women don’t need to be “villains” and non-targ women don’t need to be the epitome of innocence and above criticism like how the show runners and TG treat Alicent or an “enemy” of the Targaryens like some people want Sansa (as well as Arya) to be.

Rhaenyra was a child too. She was the same age as Alicent at the start of the show and in the book I think she was around 7 while Alicent was either an older teen or an adult at the beginning. Dany was 13 at the beginning of AGOT and in the show I believe 16. They started as scared young girls going through trauma too, just because members of their family, mostly men, were shitty DOESN’T make them evil or unsympathetic. Dany’s story is literally about her MAKING CHANGE and being different from her ancestors.

Sansa hate not welcome just to be safe.

I don't really want to start anything right now but I do have a problem with people telling us that we are doing the suffering Olympics when we point out that Sansa is privileged compared to everyone else throughout the story.

Because here is the thing, nobody is trying to diminish what she went through, it's horrible and no 12 to 14 year old should go through this. Sansa being forced to marry Tyrion is in my top 10 of most harrowing chapters of the books. It's awful and bad and fucking terrible and the reason I want Littlefinger dead the most is his creepiness towards her.

That said, she is a fictional character. If you want to analyze, parallel and contrast her character to the others which is what you should do if they have foils/parallels in the story, you should take into account the fact that her name and later on her status as a lord's bastard give her a certain privilege. It does. She never has to worry about what food she'll eat like Arya, Bran, Dany or Tyrion in dance,she doesn't have to be forced to work like Arya again and Tyrion, she is very much not exposed to the horror of war the same way because she is first a high born lady with a name that protects her and then she is pretending to be the recognized daughter of someone who is also a noble. This is part of her story in contrast to the others. That's another perspective of the war/conflict and should be acknowledged when we analyze her.

Reading agot chapters of the stark sisters and coming to the conclusion that they hate each other in isolation from their parents’ understanding of them and society’s rigid expectations on them is idiotic as fuck. They are both classic products of their environments, both familial and social, and their feelings of each are heavily informed by these two things. Please take your Sansa and Arya hate each other because they’re antagonists, and are going to come head to head thematically in the later books, and dump it in the trash where it belongs.
