Your F/S might wear big clothes. I'm seeing dresses, baggy clothes, or just oversized things. I'm getting somewhat emo vibes or they might just like black clothing. They are great at keeping optimism and picking themselves back up after periods of grief. hello! another little question on tarot if i may.

when i read more casually my readings were usually very relaxed and with simple meanings, accurate with by the book meanings but not super specific. as i become more ambitious i became super motivated to learn all the nuance i possibly can, its an interesting journey but.. doesnt seem to work in practice. i always knew it but everyone and their mama will always have interpretations that can seem stupid to others, even among experts in the field. question is how do you deal with that?

Im seeing that as my study deepens and Im working with Apollo to achieve that, some interpratations that are organically coming up and rooting themselves in my practice can seem just straight up weird to some people. how do i deal with that? have you experienced that? everyone seems so Agressive about their interpretations being the proper ones.

Listen to me.

You must engage in the most batshit methods of reading tarot. You must design your own systems of reading with all the glee of a young boy throwing rocks off an overpass. You must read tarot so bizarrely that it makes you feel like a mad scientist.

You must decide for yourself every rule and ritual which makes tarot "work," and you must develop methods of reading that hinge upon destroying those ideations. You must make vehicles of meaning, drive them as fast as you can down the freeway of tarot, and crash them at full speed into brick walls. You must laugh at the fiery destruction you have wrought, and you must sprint all the way back to the launch pad to begin building something else.

They will be Aggressive with you over what the cards really mean? They are fools. They do not know the depths to which you can tear apart their petty systems. They think the extent of tarot perversion is choosing the wrong meaning for the card. They think this because they have mistaken the surface of the water for the depths of the ocean.

They think the height of tarot discourse is whether or not it's okay to not memorize card meanings. They think tarot is a pretty sea turtle languidly drifting in a sunny reef.

Go down in that ocean and dredge up the most horrifying bulbous-eyed god-defying pale abomination you can find. Map out new depths of horror. Make friends with the purely absurd. Perform atrocities with tarot and hang each one around your neck like the badge of honor it is. Crack tarot's spine and drink from the fluid that drips out. Become a monster, do you hear me?

And when they smirk at you because they think they know better words to tape to the Knight of Swords, you will open your mouth and say the most dumbfounding shit that person has ever heard and blast them with a ray of psychic damage so severe it will make them question if they should keep reading tarot lest they be associated with someone like you.

"Well akshually, knight cards do the queen's bidding, so in this case-"

"Haha, yeah! Once for a couple of months I worked exclusively with a system where the four knights were the rulers of the deck. I divided up the major arcana cards between the knights as their servants, but since there's one card left over, I incorporated a system where one of the four knights was the 'ruler' of that reading. Then I laid out all four knights as signifiers and dealt the entire deck between all four knights and the reading was based on which omens were collected under the ruling knight."

"Haha, yeah! Once for like two weeks I assigned all the court cards to be my favorite anime blorbos and I read from a restricted deck that only used court cards and major arcana. I'd draw one major arcana card to be the battlefield setting and then two court cards. To resolve the reading I wrote fanfiction about the characters fighting and whichever character won would decide the outcome of the question. It's actually how I got started using creative writing as a form of exploratory divination!"

"Haha, yeah! One weekend I decided to find out what would happen if I read in such a way that sword cards could 'kill' other cards in the deck, and the Knight of Pentacles ended up getting 'killed' like three times that weekend and ever since then it's always coming up in readings about sadness and depression, isn't that weird?"

"Haha, yeah! Well today I'm reading with a system where I meditate until a recurring character from my dreams appears and asks me to possess one of my tarot cards, and today No-Eyes the Whale asked to possess that knight card, so that's why I'm not using your meanings."

Do they challenge you? They cannot challenge you. Are you not shuffling right? Are you getting scolded for not fOcUsInG enough when you shuffle? Look them in the eye and say something so deranged they will think about it for the rest of their life.

"Haha, yeah! I remember the last time I used those meanings, it was so fun. I got drunk, shuffled my tarot deck, and laid out piles of three cards around my house, sight-unseen. For the next three days I kept running into these little three-card readings hidden everywhere, but funnily enough, they all ended up being past-present-future readings of the ten second timespan when I picked up the cards. I even predicted getting the phone call about losing my health insurance!"

"Haha, yeah! I actually decided to re-assign every single card to my custom twelve element system, so I don't see the same divisions between the suits as you do. Look, this card is the element pearl! Pearls are an element, I decided a couple of months ago. It's a really long story but it helps explain what happened to No-Eyes."

"Haha, yeah! I don't use intuition to choose cards out of a lineup. I turn them all face up and select all the cards that I think are the most likely ones to show up in the reading. Then, I go through the entire deck and match every single card with it's polar opposite. Then, I put the deck face-down and flip cards over. If I flip over a sword or a wand card, I exchange my chosen card with its opposite, but if it's a major arcana card I keep both my chosen card and its opposite."

"Haha, yeah! I don't shuffle. Like, at all. Once I'm done with the reading I put cards on the bottom of the deck and then just draw new cards from the top of the deck."

"Haha, yeah! I mixed all my decks together and sorted the superdeck into piles of every elementally aligned card. In order to resolve questions I have a yu-gi-oh duel with myself."

Eat the tarot. Consume it whole and raw. Tear away at it until you fear there is nothing left, and then go back for more. Each time you eat its heart, it will become refined before your eyes. Assist the tarot in shedding its decrepit cloak of meaning. Rescue it by killing it. Rend tarot in your hands like a child ripping at crafting clay.

And if you destroy it well enough, and for long enough, it will be reborn in your hands as it was meant to be: glimmering and pure, whole and new, ineffable and eternal, your dearest friend,

and so shiny and smooth that no meanings at all can stick to it.

That is what you do with people who get Aggressive about what the cards really mean.

PAC: Surprise! Something is coming, but you don't see it! What is it?

So, I'm still out of town but I have been itching to use cards. The only thing I have are playing cards. Which means we don't have major arcana and I won't use page cards. And I'm interested to see what kind of messages we get just using those.

Pile 1

Okay, you have four of Wands, two of Wands, six of pentacles, and two of cups.

The quotes on the cards for each in the order are

Whatever makes you happy you put it in your world.

Let's make some nice little clouds that just float around and have fun all day.

Just go out and talk to a tree. Make friends with it.

This is not something you should labor over or worry about. Enjoy it. If painting does nothing else it should make you happy.

So, let's just do the tarot reading without thinking about the quotes yet.

Okay what you don't see coming, I feel like somebody is going to do something good for you. Like a favor or just do something nice for you. It could be that they get you a present or they help you out with some type of chore, but I feel like you aren't going to be expecting somebody to be thinking about you. Because it's almost like a friend or a person or whomever or even family, does something small but meaningful for you. It could be that they go into a store and see something that reminds them of you and they buy it. Then they casually come up to you and are like hey I thought of you, here's this pair of earrings or I know you really like oranges, so I grabbed you a few fresh oranges from the market.

And I get the sense that they do it because maybe in the past you've done something for them, so it's like they are passing it back on to you. I especially feel like to get really specific if it's a gift, it could be something for your home. Like a knick knack or flowers. But it just feels small however the motive behind it feels meaningful and yet it doesn't feel like there are any ulterior motives. It's I like I was thinking about you and we have this kind of relationship where we do nice things for each other, so here you go.

It's also possible that a friend might ask you out on a date. I don't mean like a literal date. I don't feel a lot of romantic stuff here even though there are the four of Wands and two of cups. I'm seeing this more as a person close to you like a best friend or close relative, and they either have gotten you something as a gift or you spend quality time together. But it feels more like it would be a surprise to ask you out for a day trip or they come up to you and are like do you want to see a movie this weekend.

It could also be that they have seen you going through a bit of a rough time recently and simply want to take you out or will offer to take you for coffee so that you can vent or chat or it's just to make you feel better.

I also feel like the purpose of whatever the interaction ends up being it's to help you relax or will be in a setting where you can relax and it's just meant to be fun and simple. I'm definitely getting the sense of some type of reciprocity happening between you and another person. There's mutual respect, there's love, and I also get a sense of happiness and satisfaction within this relationship. But I definitely feel like you'll receive a gift or an invitation to go out or even a text or call from someone you care about that's like I was thinking about you how are you etc. So you can look forward to that.

It's not here, but those quotes make me think of the hanged man. It's very go with the flow, take it easy, but also in the same sense of taking a risk. Kind of like if someone were to suggest something spontaneously and usually you're quite hesitant to be impulsive, but you're like why not let's just do this. But it's not anything like hey let's go to a club and be crazy it's more like hey do you want to go for a 2-hour drive along the coastline and you're like Yeah that sounds nice why not

But on the other side let's just look at the tarot cards. It's funny we asked what you don't see coming and then you get seven of swords since notoriously this would be the card about secrets or things that are hidden, it can be betrayal and other things but it just depends however when you pair that with an ace of swords, it's like they cancel each other out because it's about something coming to light lol which is the question that I asked so they're being a bit cheeky

My personal feeling is like you don't see it coming because it's not meant to be something known to you. So it's almost like they're saying to me that you don't get to know but we're still going to try to interpret it because that's the point of the reading. It's just funny because three of Wands also makes me think that it's a surprise because that card is usually somebody waiting on a cliff and watching and waiting for something to come in so it's like okay something is coming but we don't know what it is but eventually it will come to light lol

So whoever is passing on this message I think is being kind of cheeky and humorous. You might have a sarcastic or funny type of personality or whoever will be involved in this has that sort of playful attitude

And it's good that I said you know there's something impulsive about it because after I said that and I looked at the quotes again, I got the sense of the fool card. So there may be something wanting you to take on a more child like sense of wonder. Maybe things have been a bit stressful or overwhelming lately, so it's almost like they're trying to cheer you up or you know when you're feeling down and you have a friend who cracks a really stupid joke and they just want to make you laugh or they even embarrass themselves with some little thing that they do just to get you to cheer up

As for what it is, I think I just want to shuffle out more cards unless they're like no really they don't get to know

Three of Wands is clarified by the three of pentacles; Ace of swords is clarified by the Queen of cups; seven of swords is clarified by the two of pentacles

What's weird is with that seven of swords, I get a couple of things that come to mind and one could be some type of cycle that's repeating especially a karmic cycle. I thought pile one also had something coming up where it was more like a pay it forward situation. But this is like what goes around comes around or something repeating itself but we'll come back to that

Three of Wands being clarified by another three, the three of pentacles. This feels like the start of something being built. It could be any kind of thing, but it could also be a relationship, it could be the start of a project. But there's definitely a sense of taking the first step toward building something or joining a community. Like if you just started at the gym or you just started a new job or you just started a new hobby and have taken one or two classes

Those are just examples, I'm going to build this together into a whole paragraph after we figure out the individual sentences

Ace of swords being clarified by the Queen of cups could be some type of conversation that you have that relates to feelings or being sympathetic or somebody lending an ear to another person. It could also be clarity on one's feelings about something. It could even be a creative idea being born. Which would totally fit in with this project or whatever starting to take shape but it would only be like the planning stages or a step after that

But apply as it fits because like I said it could be a first step in a relationship or whatever but the way that it's coming together seems more like a creative collaboration opportunity but still it's the idea of building something solid and whatever is being built, there is like a drive to see it come to light and real distinct clarity. Almost like there's a vision of something that you want to do in the future or something you want to take shape. But to me it feels like a very clear idea or vision

However to build it it's like you need the cooperation of other people or you need the help of other people

Then we come to the final one that I was trying to figure out which is this seven of swords which sometimes I also read as somebody who always tries to go it alone.

In that case what this feels like again is very similar to the first pile in that somebody is going to help you out. It feels more like a work setting. It feels not as close as the first pile, so this could be an acquaintance a co-worker a classmate or even somebody you barely know but it's like you're so used to doing things on your own and this has been a cycle for you. However there's some type of idea or something that you want and in this instance whatever it is that you are thinking of

You may think that you can do this by yourself or you may harbor like a secret desire for somebody to help you achieve this. But either way it feels like this is something you're not going to be able to do by yourself. You're going to need the help of other people whether you want it or not so it's like you either have to be the one to ask for help or somebody will come along and help you unexpectedly. Like a really random person or random situation happens and it's like it actually helps you out.

However with the three of Wands, I do get the sense usually this is somebody either desiring or fantasizing or theyre aware that somebody is coming into help

So I can't tell if literally somebody will be coming in or you've been hoping for somebody to come in.

It could also be that if that's the case and you've been trying to manifest somebody, that spirit isn't ready to give you the full details on a timeline or who they are or when they're going to show up. Because I get there's a bit of silly secrecy surrounding this. It could even be that if you are looking for a romantic relationship, this person comes in as a stranger and then I mean you could know them though but they could be a stranger and they could come in and be a co-worker who helps you out with tasks and you work together and collaborate

The only reason I bring up romance is the secrecy. Like what would be the reason to be secretive about a close friend coming in or soul tribe, to me it's almost like it could definitely be some type of relationship that goes from acquaintance to something more simply because you build something together and it's like if you had somebody in mind, they won't be exactly as you think and so maybe that means they also come in in a way that is completely unexpected because I feel like spirit is trying to get one over on you. Almost as if like you're a person who always needs to know how it's going to happen or thinks they know how it's going to happen and can never be surprised but

You won't see it coming or it won't happen as you expect. I still get the sense that this person hasn't come in yet and that you aren't super close to them at least not yet

But what I really feel is just like it's meant for you not to know the details that's why it's something you don't see coming. It just happens that in this particular pile, they really want to keep it vague for whatever reason they might have. And I don't think it has anything to do with they don't know what they're doing, there's just like a teasing feeling about it. Maybe because you are the person that thinks they know everything or can ever be surprised or feels like you know oh it can't ever happen in a way that would be unexpected. And they seem to know this. So that's why I'm not going to say 100% for everybody it's a person. It could just be a surprise situation

Let's also consider the quotes. The first one about I don't understand everything in nature kind of sounds exactly like what I was just saying. And again it reminds me of the fool card. So it's like don't try to figure out everything and let it all happen and its course

Go out on a limb that's where the fruit is makes me think of taking risks and again not trying to plan everything. It also makes me think of abundance. Fruit you could read that as fertility so this could be creative ideas or like the empress, could have to do with relationships and fruitful relationships

Be so very light. Be a gentle whisper. This could mean a lot of things lol. This makes me feel more about how this comes in which is like not gradually but it's like one morning you wake up and this thing or this person will be there. Again you just don't see it coming because it's so quiet or invisible. But I also think it's a play on not being so serious

Then the clarification card say isn't that fantastic I knew you could do it. So again makes me think about success with some type of collaboration that's coming up.

There's son of a gun that's a pretty nice tree for being done that quick. Again a sense of something coming in quickly or changing quickly. Saying son of a gun kind of makes me think of the knight of swords or knight of Wands... Which again would just be about the speed at which something happens, which would seem to be very quick. Guns are obviously very fast, powerful

It also makes me feel like not everything has to be overthought to be successful. Things can be simple and still be good

And then the final quote says let's get crazy what the heck take a 2-in brush This is your bravery test. For one it's being cheeky again these are Bob Ross playing cards if you couldn't tell already. So he's being kind of sarcastic but it's still displaying that message of take a risk and things don't have to be like fancy, it's all about the moment and what you put into it and being brave

So if I had to say. If it's about a relationship or a project, it's almost like give it a chance, take your shot, don't overthink it

And I can't tell you specifically what it is because they don't want us to know. I can only guess that for some of you it feels like a person coming in unexpectedly. It could be a friend, but I lean more toward a romantic possibility that starts off as acquaintanceship and has the potential to become something else if you let go of control and give it a shot without also overanalyzing everything

It could be to that You might be a bit guarded since you're used to doing everything on your own or perhaps you've been burned before in relationships. I get the sense that when this person comes in they'll be playful and kind of not immature but silly. Or this could be the way that they try to comfort you is through jokes or being goofy. Because it has a very light energy and it's almost like it wants to rub off on you

And I really just feel like if this is a person you meet through work, they aren't there yet or you haven't connected with them or you've barely interacted with them and then they end up coming and helping you with a project or help you put a piece of equipment together and you realize you have some type of mental connection or you have kind of a nice conversation. But it doesn't occur to you in that moment that this could be more. So I'll just say that there feels like there's the potential for something special with this person or the situation so keep an open mind. And if they're like hey do you want to do something random and spontaneous, just say yes at least that one time and see where it goes

This is the only one where I wondered if the thing you don't see coming might be negative so I already clarified your top cards.

There's eight of wands which usually indicates the speed of something, as in something coming in fast or rush of something. It can also have to do with travel or things that are online. It could even be something like a rush of emotions or a feeling of being overwhelmed. It's clarified by the seven of cups, which could be a sense of or lack of clarity, it can be daydreaming, it can be having multiple choices. Two of wands, also usually is about choices and having two paths to follow, usually I feel like it's coming to a crossroads in life about a decision.

So again it could be stress. That's kind of how I'm reading it, is being overwhelmed and even pressured into making some type of choice even though you have so many options it's almost like how do I decide. That's the most negative way to read it. If I flipped it into something lighter, it could be...

Well I guess there's not that much but for specific situations it could have to do with travel and somebody's travel plans being sort of up in the air and ambiguous. So like you have to make a choice of whether or not you want to go or maybe you have multiple options that are involved in this situation. It doesn't have to be travel, it could even be well those are just silly specific situations. Right now I'm more leaning toward either a pressure that feels negative and overwhelming or it's excitement and passion about the amount of choices you have. It just depends if you're a person who thrives on having a lot of opportunities and choices to make or if that's something that stresses you out. And that's just the first sentence in this paragraph so let's keep going. Also your quotes on these cards are now then let's wash the old brush. That's the fun part of this whole technique okay. Shake off the excess and just beat the devil out of it. So oddly we have a reference to the devil and it's also giving me a bit of eight of cups or some sense of walking away from something or brushing off an obstacle

The clarifying quotes are and that may be the true joy of painting. When you share it with other people. I really believe that's the true joy. And the last one says let's make some nice little clouds that just float around and have fun all day.

So this does seem to indicate a bit of an obstacle. And then there's the sense of perseverance. Like it's just a speed bump and you'll get over it. That seems to be the first part

Then we get to the five of pentacles which is clarified by a five of swords. Both of those cards are somewhat negative in that five of pentacles typically is about a lack of something. It could be a lack of money, it could be a lack of confidence, could be a lack of spiritual insight or guidance or feeling lonely or being in need of help or assistance and not knowing where to go

Five of swords being the clarifier although I left it reversed. Typically five of swords could be you know like a an argument with people or kind of a cutthroat environment or no win situation. So if that were upright, I might think that a serious situation is coming or there's conflict and even some toxicity and somebody is lashing out of another person because they feel empty. But since it's flipping, usually reverse can mean an extreme version of what the meaning is or you're coming out of that moment. In that case if something is being reversed and for the better, it would be like resolving some type of conflict but you know what I don't know if I actually feel optimistic lol

I mean that could be but I still feel like this is describing a situation that is dire like depression or a pretty heavy conflict with a person. Extreme loneliness. And it could either be that this is going on now or will come up shortly or it's that this situation is about to resolve if you've already gone through it. But let's keep going and see how it all fits

You have nine of swords, which is that anxiety or restlessness or inability to sleep and it's clarified by a seven of wands, which is about defensiveness. So it definitely feels like somebody has to protect themselves or needs to be on guard or feels like they have to be that way and certainly if you'd had a conflict or people are coming after you or you feel like something's missing or wrong or like you don't have love or something just feels very negative with these cards. And because you feel anxious about the situation, you're also feeling like you need to protect yourself or you need to defend yourself from something

And then we have the king of swords clarified by I'm going to call this a knight of Wands since it's a jack.

So it reads definitely like a person. It could be you or could be somebody else but it's a person who could be quite logical or cold or aloof or just somebody who's quite decisive or logical intelligent and a clear communicator as well as honest. And then the knight of Wands would indicate somebody who is creative or passionate or impulsive

I also just realized that the jack is reversed so this could be a person and this person could be somebody you are going to have a conflict with or have had a conflict with

I mean granted these things could be describing the person but in theory it would be like this is how you feel or this is somebody else and you've had a conflict with them and you feel like you have to defend yourself against them

So if this represents you as opposed to a person. The reversed jack or knight of Wands could be indicating somebody who is a bit irritable, a bit irrational, somebody who is being kind of cold or detached but also would have a bad temper or is overly impulsive. We did get that devil card so there really could be something going on here that's either bad habits of yours or a warning of somebody currently in your energy space and if this is somebody coming to mind for you that you're having to deal with I could totally understand why this person isn't so great. Now if it's you, it could be something you're going through and whatever the conflict is, it's causing you to project some anger and some defensiveness and maybe even causing conflict in relationships for you right now

And however that works out for you if this is a person or if this is you and your feelings are being projected here, it's almost like there's a real sense of insecurity. And if it's the other person that's insecure or if something happens to make you feel this way, it's like it comes from something somebody says or something you see online or read about and it's like it obscures your perspective or you feel like it's blocking a path for you. Or almost like unexpected bad news

And it's like you had these plans to do something and then unexpectedly your flight gets canceled and it's like okay and then now you're arguing with a customer service representative and it's making you feel horrible that you have to go through some type of stressful situation

So yeah you know if you have travel plans make sure you check out all the details because you could have an unexpected delay or cancellation. A lot of that is going on in the US right now especially if you have a Southwest flight lol which I have one on Tuesday

I just feel like this seven of cups is representing a lack of clarity about a choice that you need to make but it's like this 8 of Wands is saying that either literally it has to do with travel or it's like it comes in quickly or it's coming in soon and it obscures something. It could obscure your confidence or your vision of the future but essentially that part is really just talking about choices about the future and either having a vision for it that you feel passionate about or something happens unexpectedly to throw some lack of clarity around the situation because like I said in the middle here there's a lot of conflict

to me it keeps coming up as a feeling of insecurity and people lashing out and projecting but it's really heavy. These are really heavy and pretty negative cards. I mean like we all go through dark times and stuff but it's like specifically about being anxious, being defensive and feeling backed into a corner, conflict with others, and potentially either like extreme conflict with another person almost like bullying or potentially I guess I just don't see this five of swords being reversed as a good thing when it's clarifying five of pentacles. It could be that a situation will get resolved with someone and right now this conflict with this person or situation is causing you to feel helpless

And I guess if it's reversing it's possible that that conflict could end as a result of somebody going away. I don't see it as like a person apologizing it would just have to be removing the person from the situation or removing yourself from the situation so you don't have to deal with that person anymore

And like I said this person could be the type of person who is cold and verbally abusive and quick to temper. I mean that's not for everybody but if there is a person and that sounds about right. Maybe even somebody who's jealous of you or something...

Or the situation is making you somewhat detached and emotional and stable or impulsive. I'm really drawn to the word devil so usually the devil card could indicate a toxic relationship or some type of toxic coping mechanism or negative patterns of behavior that tend to happen frequently. Even though it's a two of Wands for me because it's clubs, I keep wanting to say two of pentacles which is a cycle or balancing something.

And again this feels very specific. I feel more like it's a conflict with a singular person. It isn't have to be somebody you're in a relationship with, it doesn't even have to be somebody you're close to but they feel very gross in energy. And my personal feeling would be to get very far away from whoever this might be

So I guess what you don't see coming could be this person. I mean it could be a stranger that appears and does something s***** to you; it could be someone you know and they do something unexpectedly awful like say something that you don't like or say something really mean. It wouldn't be just like a small thing, this would be like pretty vindictive. It goes beyond petty and is somebody who purposely is wanting to hurt you or start a conflict with you. Whether they know you or it's like just a stranger who's a psycho path

At the very least though, it's some kind of negative obstacle that comes in your way and you have to persevere through it. I can't tell if it's super extreme like you know a toxic or abusive person or if it's an inconvenience like travel plans being canceled and ruining your mood and making you feel really miserable in that moment

So I would just say be on the lookout for somebody who's negative. I mean you could always change it and completely avoid the person. I mean avoidance could be part of the issue as well because if you have this five of pentacles and then the five of swords could mean somebody who's trying to avoid having to deal with it or avoiding some type of conflict around it. It could be somebody that's trying to ignore a negative situation as if they think it's going to go away but it's not

I mean I'm sure they're very light ways of reading this but I mean even you can see that in the middle those cards are fairly negative. On the outside I wouldn't say they're one way or the other except you have a reversed knight card which usually would indicate the negative traits associated with that court card. And like I said that's usually somebody who's quick to temper or flaky or reckless. It would make me think of somebody who would engage in self-sabotaging behavior like partying too much or drug use or being promiscuous

The other outside card is just that eight of Wands which is kind of vague other than it's always about something to do with being fast, fast communication, travel like a sudden rush or a sense of being overwhelmed. Because all of that means something happening quickly and because it's fire it can be kind of heavy and hot

And that card is surrounded by cards that reference having choices especially multiple choices and those being heavy choices as well because two of Wands can feel like you know you can only go this way or you can only go that way and not just that it's like you're being rushed to make an important decision

So it could be like very specifically somebody who's a bit of a bully and it's like they are trying to pressure you to make some type of choice so whatever that means

So yeah don't let anybody pressure you into doing something that makes you feel uncomfortable or makes you feel like you need to make a rushed decision or is exhibiting these type of behaviors or traits. My instincts is to tell you to get far away from them or the situation. I wouldn't engage with them because I feel like the situation could escalate

...

And I could be over exaggerating the situation but I'd rather be safe and tell you the worst of the worst and then your blindsided by somebody. Now you could be like well that's weird that sounds like this situation maybe I should exit instead of trying to have a calm conversation with them because I don't think they would hear you. And I think it would escalate no matter what you said or did so it would be better to remove yourself from the situation. Or I can at least say that it's not going to get better and you might have to endure some obstacles or inconveniences.

Or like you know how when you have a job and you have a really nasty customer and it's like it shouldn't happen but it happens to all of us. Every once in a while we have to deal with something nasty and it makes us feel awful but it happens so keep your eyes out for all of those types of situations

Summary: While looking for the perfect Christmas gift for his niece, Dieter Bravo finds himself in a small mystic shop, owned by the sweet and eccentric Amina. After an impromptu tarot reading with unexpected and surprising results, the two quickly find themselves entranced by each other.

Dieter POV

I was a complete mess the whole day leading up to my date with Amina. This was new for me, and I was so afraid of blowing it. Something just felt different about her. I wasn’t trying to put too much thought into the card reading, but I would be lying if I said it didn’t make me wonder about things.

When I first got to her apartment, there was some initial awkwardness, but oddly enough, I think the cat helped ease some of the tension. It made me feel warm and fuzzy inside to know that Miss Pickles didn’t typically react that way to strangers. I hoped that would earn me a few brownie points with Amina.

The conversation flowed easily once we were in the car, allowing her personality to shine through. I quickly discovered she was indeed a little quirky as far as her interests were concerned, but I loved that about her. I was into some weird shit too, so I wasn’t one to judge. She was very witty and sarcastic, which was a surprising turn on. I had never met a woman that could throw my sarcastic comments back at me like she could.

Everything with her was so simple. She wasn’t the uppity high class type that I was used to. The casual dinner allowed us to have fun and joke around while we took in the sights. I think things would have gone a little differently if we had gone to a stuffy restaurant and sat on opposite sides of the table.

Seeing how eager she was to learn about astronomy was exhilarating for me. None of my past partners had ever taken an interest in it. In fact, most of them thought it was fucking weird. I was excited to finally have someone to share that hobby with. The fact that it tied in with her knowledge of astrology made it all the more fascinating and allowed us to share knowledge on the two topics.

I was surprised at how at ease she seemed with me almost immediately, not hesitating in the slightest to hook her arm with mine or to reach over and squeeze my hand as she laughed about something I had said. As the hour grew later, the touching increased to the point that we really couldn’t keep our hands off each other. The cold temperatures only encouraged our behavior, causing a new kind of tension to build. I really wanted to take her home with me and worship every inch of her body, but I knew that wasn’t how things typically went outside of Hollywood. Especially in situations where it wasn’t meant to be a random hookup. She meant more to me than that, so I was planning to follow her lead on things.

To say I was shocked when she insinuated that she wanted to spend the night with me was an understatement. Then again, I understood it. When we kissed, I felt something unlock inside of me. It was primal, a hunger that I had never felt. A craving for something that was stronger than any drug. It was like my stars had finally aligned, like I had made a connection with her on a spiritual level and found the missing piece that would make me whole again.

As we drove to my place, I never let go of her hand, occasionally bringing it to my lips to kiss her fingertips or to rub it against the scruff of my face. We rode in silence but exchanged several heated glances as the tension and anticipation between us continued to build. I couldn’t keep my mind from wandering back to what she had said about the cards, about hers being the same. How was that even possible? Was it a fluke thing? Based on the intense reaction I was having to her, I didn’t think so. There had to be something to it. I also thought back to what she had said about the Lovers card during my reading…there would be an intense emotional and sexual connection. I wasn’t sure what that meant, but the prospect of it was exciting and taking my thoughts to some seriously dirty places.

After maneuvering the car into the garage, Mina followed me through the door into the kitchen. I noticed she was looking around, taking everything in as she sat her purse on the counter.

She gave me a sneaky smile, “Hmm, it’s tidier than I expected.”

I laughed, “I can’t take the credit. I have a house cleaner.”

She chuckled, “Of course you do.”

I sat my keys and phone down, turning to face her as she leaned against the counter beside me, “Can I get you anything, you thirsty?”

She slowly shook her head, smiling as she reached over to grab hold of my shirt and pulled me to stand in front of her, “Just you.”

She leaned in to kiss me, but paused, tilting her head to the side with a confused look on her face. I pinched my brows together at her sudden change.

“It looks like you have visitors.”

I chuckled, I knew exactly what she was seeing. When I turned around, two raccoons were standing upright at the glass doors that led to the back yard, staring expectantly.

I bit my bottom lip, holding back the laugh that was trying to escape, “Excuse me, they’ll be wanting their dinner now.”

I walked over to the refrigerator and pulled out a large mixing bowl full of scraps, fruits, and vegetables. I opened the back door and set the bowl down as they scurried over to claim their prizes.

I stood watching them for a moment, “Sorry, they’ve become my permanent guests in an effort to keep them out of the neighbors trash cans. They were threatening to poison them if they kept at it.”

When I turned around to face Mina, she had her hand over her mouth and looked a little glassy eyed. I knitted my brows together, confused by her expression, “Does it bother you that I feed them?”

She dropped her hand, shaking her head, “No…but I think I just fell in love with you.”

She rolled her eyes at me before smacking my chest playfully, “Have you named them?”

I bit the inside of my cheek, staring at her intently before I answered, “I have. Bonnie and Clyde, the trashcan bandits.”

She broke into a fit of giggles as she buried her head into my chest.

“Do I need to remind you that you have a cat named Miss Pickles?”

She leaned back to look at me, still chuckling, “No, you don’t. I know it's absurd.”

“It’s not absurd, I think it’s fucking perfect.”

I moved to push her hair back from her face, the humor dissolving to something else as we took each other in. I leaned down, kissing her gently as she wrapped her arms around me, pulling me in tightly so that our bodies were flush. She groaned into my mouth, the sound traveling directly to my dick as it hardened and twitched between us. I broke away, trying to catch my breath as I leaned my forehead against hers. I didn’t want to make any assumptions about how far she wanted to take things and I didn’t want to get carried away.

I giggled, “You drive a hard bargain, sir. I’m sure Miss Pickles would accept that offer forthwith.”

“And need I remind you that Miss Pickles was reluctant to leave my lap yesterday? She loves me already and wants me in her life.”

He continued kissing me, “Are you being serious about this?”

He leaned back, looking at me intently, “Fuck yes. I don’t joke about these things. I feel like I finally found my missing piece.”

I cupped his cheek, my eyes stinging slightly as I took in his expression. He was serious. In the back of my head, the Fool was whispering to jump at new opportunities. A wide smile spread across my face as I pulled him back into a kiss.

When he pulled away, he sat up, stretching.

“I’m thirsty, you want me to get you anything?” He stood from the bed, his body on full display. His broad shoulders flexed as he moved. He turned to face me as he pulled his boxer briefs up, adjusting his generous size into a comfortable position. He wasn’t bothered by the fact that I watched him, if anything he liked the attention.

He cleared his throat and raised his brows, he was still waiting for an answer.

I chuckled, “I’m sorry, I got distracted.”

He gave me a smug grin, “That’s understandable.”

I rolled my eyes and threw a pillow at him, “Water please…and bring my purse too.”

He nodded before disappearing downstairs. As I sat waiting, a painting in the corner caught my attention. There was something oddly familiar about it, but I couldn’t quite figure out what it was.

Dieter returned a few minutes later with two bottles of water and my purse. I scooted to the edge of the bed, and he quickly settled in behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and setting his chin on my shoulder. He watched me fish my card deck out of my bag.

“What are you doing?” He whispered it into the crook of my neck as he placed a gentle kiss there.

“My daily card draw. I had a sudden urge to do it.”

He continued rubbing his nose against my neck as I reset the deck. I took a deep breath and chose my card. The World…representing fulfillment and being whole. I sighed in contentment.

“What’s that card mean?”

“It means that I’m finally where I’m supposed to be. I’m home.”

Milgram 4th Anniversary Art Analysis Part 1/3: Mikoto, Kazui, Shidou and Fuuta

I'm going to post these in a few parts since my analyses ended up getting so long...oops. Here's the first! Please let me know if I've slipped up at all or if you have anything to add.

Mikoto

Mikoto is standing very straight and to attention with his feet together, in the same way that he carefully curates his public persona and tries his best not to stand out. His suit jacket seems to be fully done up, all neatly and presentably, and he's similarly removed his stud earrings. Trying his best to come across as unproblematic, respectful and polite. But he's also standing a bit like a corpse in a coffin, holding his flowers like a dead man in his grave. This is probably related to Mikoto's associations with the Death tarot card (which does not in fact signify death but a new beginning — rebirth in a way) and his VD being titled 'John Doe' (that is, the placeholder name for an unidentified dead body) — perhaps a part of him died when his alter John was born? But that part of him was also reborn as someone bolder and stronger...Mikoto could also be considered a dead man walking, perhaps, working himself to death...he holds his bouquet in front of him in full view, just as he presents himself and his supposed crime since he has no memory of it — believing he has nothing to hide, trying to come across as trustworthy.

Kazui

Kazui is standing in contrapposto as he often does, only leaning his weight on half of his body — refusing to lean into both sides of himself. He also has his jacket half buttoned up, affording it a slightly more casual visual effect, and I think his tie is slightly loosened (half loosened?) in keeping with his half/half theme and general deliberately casual approach to most things. As seen in Cat and in other artwork of him, he is wearing a waistcoat underneath his suit jacket. I find it interesting that Kazui is consistently depicted with that extra layer in formalwear. Maybe I'm reading into things too much, but I wonder if it's to do with his devotion to trying to fulfil a masculine ideal — the three piece suit is often considered one of the most masculine forms of attire. It's also often associated with performance imagery, like the magic tricks we saw him doing in Cat. Unlike the others, he insists on that extra layer beneath his jacket — almost as if just to make sure he's really playing his role to the best of his ability. An extra layer of constriction, even beneath his jacket...anyways, he holds his bouquet with one hand — with only half of himself — sort of nonchalantly. His pose sort of reminds me of the way an actor might hold a prop he is planning to gesture with, which brings to mind Kazui's performative nature. Kazui holds his bouquet in front of himself, but his holding it with one hand makes it sort of feel like he's holding back a little. He isn't exactly outright presenting it to the viewer like some of the characters do, but he's also not actively trying to hide it (anymore?), which seems to be his attitude to the circumstances of his supposed crime as well — just as he implored us to find out and uncover the truth about him in his second voice drama.

Shidou

Shidou's body language is more open and relaxed than Mikoto and Kazui's, sort of reminiscent of the way his sprite's body language opened up in Trial 2 when he settled into his saviour/healer role in the second season. I also get the impression that his tie is the least loose of the five male characters, though I'm not exactly a tie expert — very intentional and meticulous, just like Shidou and his actions. Like Mikoto and Haruka, his buttons are all done up as far as I can tell (it's sort of difficult to see behind his bouquet to be fair, but that seems in character). I think this reflects how the three of them have a more decisive and resolute attitude to their crimes: while Mikoto insists he didn't do anything, both Haruka and Shidou admitted to killing from the very beginning, and all three of them were initially very accepting of their circumstances (albeit because Mikoto was in denial). Haruka and Shidou already committed to dressing up for the funeral from the very start— they both accepted their circumstances wholeheartedly, at least to begin with. Interestingly, he's the only one whose jacket is double breasted. I looked into this to see if there might be any particular significance to this choice, but I don't think I found anything of particular note except that it makes him stand out a bit, kind of like his straitjacket design's turtleneck style collar and long coat do. Double breasted jackets are associated with the navy, but I don't think that has much relevance to him as a character. As for Shidou's bouquet, he holds it just like a baby, cradling it close to himself with a sort of parental tenderness. It's in full view of the spectator and he makes no pretence about it. I think this reflects his attitude to his victims and to his crime — perhaps it implies that he considers his own children his victims, too? But I could also see this just reflecting his general attitude to lives — at least those of other people anyhow.

Fuuta

Fuuta's pose sort of reminds me of how a petulant teenager might stand at the funeral of a distant relative, irritated by the proceedings. It's quite open, like Shidou's, but much more defiantly so, leaning back slightly on one leg as if to challenge the viewer — sort of like a 'so what?' — much like he acted in Trial 1. He's not making much of an attempt to present himself formally or respectfully — his jacket is only half done up and his tie is the loosest of all the five male characters, one hand stuffed into his trouser pocket. I think this reflects Fuuta's general tendency to chafe against convention and expectations, but also his initial refusal to accept his circumstances and responsibility. He holds his bouquet behind himself but largely visible — refusing to accept responsibility or be open with the viewer, but still self-aware enough that it's not exactly hidden — I think this reflects how he acts standoffish but ultimately is only really superficially in denial. He does hold his bouquet a little like a weapon, but he doesn't seem fully committed — he's not really holding it like he's seriously trying to threaten anyone. He's the only one who isn't smiling at all, which is just like him.

• She was invested in your past, she always had some sort of interest in the unknown. She wanted to know you on a deep, conscious and subconscious level. Knowing this part of you only brought you two closer, and she loved it. She could feel your energies alligning.

• Emily was indifferent when it came to your past, she would've loved you regardless. She supported you in every way possible, she even dabbled in your music! She wasn't usually a big fan of this sort of stuff, but it was ... nice. It was like hearing your thoughts vocalized, it helped her understand your energy easier.

I bet that plus all the struggles of being famous didn't help,” she said, focusing every bit of her attention on you.

• “Your work must've been incredibly, gaining that much popularity. Would you like to share some of it with me? I want to see what you wrote about, and your past passion. Even if you don't want to be famous anymore, if you'd like to write, I would love to listen. You can bounce ideas off of me, anything you'd like. And if you'd rather not talk about it, I understand.”

• Leah was more than intrigued by your work, and how you did it. Music was such an interesting craft in her eyes, and she loved it. She was so interested in your stories and your history. She didn't overstep your boundaries though, making sure she didn't ask too many questions. She just listened to you talk, and she enjoyed every second of it. It's her favorite hobby.

• She found her inspiration soon after, eventually ending up sculpting a peace based on your music. You were always her greatest source of inspiration, she mentioned it often. She was so in love with you, every aspect of you is so beautiful and art worthy. Even aspects of your life that you've left behind were gorgeous in her eyes, and she can't wait to see your future by your side.

• Maru was sitting in the floor, working on her newest robotic creation, when you walked in. She was humming a familiar tune, but then it hit you. It was familiar because you wrote it. You let out a gentle laugh, to which she looked a bit confused. She asked you what was funny, and you thought for a moment. Well, she's gonna find out eventually. Might as well tell her.

• You sat down next to her on the floor, casually mentioning that you wrote it. She laughed, smiling over at you. “Ha ha, very funny. That song is just something I heard on the radio, I highly doubt that you wrote it, unless you're some popstar in disguise or something ... wait what?”

• As you told her about your past career, she looked on with a smile. “Wow hon, I never knew you had this side of you. Your career sounds so stressful, no wonder you wanted to come out here. Do you need to vent about anything? You know that I'm here for you, right?”

• She didn't really listen to the music you put out, it wasn't exactly her style, but she would listen to it if you asked. She enjoys listening to you talk about your past career, and likes hearing things that you've learned from the experience. She's especially interested in the technical aspect, what goes on behind the scenes of tours. Lights, sound, mics, all of the backstage stuff.

• However, she wanted to make you feel comfortable and normal, not like some celebrity. She tried her best to treat it as something normal, just another everyday career. Maru cared about you above anything, and was entirely focused on keeping you physically and mentally healthy. She would listen to you vent any day.

• You and Penny were sitting in the forest, watching Vincent and Jas play, having soft conversation. You had asked Penny what her taste in music was, when she started talking about her favorite artists. Most of them were on the less popular, indie music side. However, she bashfully mentioned that she did have one relatively popular artist she listened to. You were not expecting her to mention your name.

• You weren't exactly sure how to bring this to her attention, so with a nervous laugh, you said that it was you. She tilted her head to the side, a little confused. “... Hold on, could you elaborate on that, please? I'm a little confused ...” As you told her your story, how you wanted to get away from the limelight for a little while.

• “Your music has always interested me, I've honestly been following you since the beginning of your career. I know that you probably don't want to talk about that part of your life, since you moved out here to escape it, but I'd love to talk about some of your songs with you. Your lyrics really speak to me,” she would say with a soft smile, warm and welcoming.

• She loves to analyze the lyrics of songs she enjoys, she's certainly a more lyric oriented person. So, when you agreed to sit down with her and explain the stories behind some of her favorite songs, she was enamored. She listened to every word, paying close attention and loving every second of it. She reciprocated with some stories as well, you two had a deep bonding experience through your music.

• You didn't know how much of a fan Penny was, but it was so sweet watching her learn more about you. Seeing how much she cared about your life, every part of it, made you smile. She's the sweetest, and you can't wait to learn just as much about her.

little fantasy-ish royal au drabble yayy

prince steve’s parents are detached yet controlling of him, so every so often he rebels and sneaks out of the castle to go visit events and areas in the kingdom he knows will be densely populated. he wears plainer (but still obviously expensive) clothes as well as a thin but long scarf he bunches up around his neck to hide as much of his face as he can, and lets his hair fall naturally rather than his signature styled look. the disguise is barely there, but as long as the attention stays off him and no one gets too close, he never gets caught.

until this time. he’s at some type of crowded market, with everything from herbs to crystals to food being sold there, watching distantly and leaning against a wall. he likes to listen to the people speak so casually and carefree while he’s out, and yearn for the easy companionship people seem to have. but as he’s watching a couple lean against each other as they argue fondly about which baked goods to buy, someone leans on the wall next to him. he glances to them, and finds it’s a man in plain clothes with long dark curls, studying him.

“i was intending to ask for one’s name, but i suspect i already know it.” the mystery man says with a quirked brow, and prince steve adjusts his scarf to cover more of his lower face.

“i know not what you mean.” he tries to play off the observation, but in response he gets a smirk from the man.

“his royal highness is not interested in one peasant’s name? one should not have expected more, i suppose.” the man sighs and drops his head forward slightly. his dramatics cause some curls to fall in his face, and prince steve feels his cheeks redden slightly for a reason unbeknownst to him.

“you may speak plainly, sir.” prince steve suggests to fill the silence.

“only if you speak plainly, your highness.”

“hm.”

“and my name is eddie, though i like ‘sir’ in certain situations as well.” and with that, the man winks and pushes off the wall. he saunters toward a stall held by a small group with what looks to be tarot cards, dramatically flicking his hair back as he goes.

prince steve sighs, and continues to yearn for a life he cannot have, but this time with a slight blush on his cheeks.

Misericorde and Fiore

Disclaimer: I have a few years of German longsword training but I'm pretty rusty and I'm not that familiar with Fiore. Images and text from fightlikefiore on wordpress and Wikitenauer. I don't think “the nuns use swords” is a spoiler when there's a nun and a sword on the title screen but getting into the characters might be a bit spoilery.

There's a scene in Misericorde at Catherine's wake where the nuns break open sherry barrels with a sword in her honour.

When I saw Adela I thought her stance looked very familiar.

This is from Fior di Battaglia by Fiore dei Liberi, written circa 1404. I'm pretty sure Xeecee used fencing manuals as references for their drawings.

Lets see what each nun's stance might tell us!

Adela: Posta Longa

This is Posta Longa (Long Guard), full of deception. She is feeling the guards of the opponents to decieve them. If she can wound with a thrust, she will do it well. She dodges the blows and can strike back. She can do it more than the other guards who cannot use such deception.

Adela is clearly a skilled swordwoman: she breaks the barrel in one strike. Also, she likes being clever. Look at how she plays chess. She gets mad when Moira beats her just by gaining a material advantage, instead of coming up with a clever strategy. This is very romantic (even if “romantic chess” like tarot readings is a bit anachronistic). Forcing your enemy to break your guard and countering it with a clever, deceptive move is very fitting for her

Katherine: Posta de Donna la Sinistra

This is the Posta di Donna la Sinestra (Lady’s Guard on the Left) and she is always ready to cover and wound. She makes great blows and breaks the thrusts and beats them to the ground. And enters the narrow play due to her skill in traversing. These plays such a guard knows how to do well.

Of course Katherine uses the Lady's Guard. Xeecee draws it very casually, like she's just posing with a sword looking hot, but if you underestimate Katherine you're making a big mistake.

You could make a pretty powerful strike to the neck from this guard.

Moira: Alber

Oh no, Moira doesn't know how to hold a sword, it's too heavy for her, right? Wrong. This is Alber, “The Fool”, which to the untrained looks weak and invites attacks but can easily parry them and strike back.

The equivalent in the Fiore tradition is Posta Tutti Porta di Ferro, the Full Iron Gate Guard. Other German swordmasters call it Eisen Pforte, Iron Gate. That's a much better description of its strength.

If you are beset with four or six impertinent peasants Place in front whichever foot you want and with the gate make a barrier And put the point on the ground / now hear what you should do See to it that they stay all in front of your face And no one comes behind you Now hear what you should do Whatever they strike or thrust against you, weak them with absetzten Strongly upwards from the ground / so you will put them to shame

This is really interesting! Moira isn't as soft as she looks. She's got hidden depths to her, and real iron inside. It's even possible she's putting up a front, and is just luring you in so she can put you to shame.

Eustace: Posta Coda Longa

‘You are cowardly wretches and of this art you know little. Do the deeds that you can only talk of. Come one by one, if you dare, and if you were a hundred I would ruin you all, this guard is so good and strong.’

Eustace would fucking say this.

Also, the description of her seven strikes, left right left right top top thrust, reminds me of sword training. Like the Meyer Squares and that. Eustace is getting in some good practice!

Darcy: Mordhau / Posta de Donna la Soprano

Here he leads with the murder strike

This sword is used as a sword and an axe. And its great force can stop any attack from a lighter weapon. This guard is also called the Posta di Donna la Soprano (High Lady's Guard) who with her skill can fool the other guards, because you think she will attack you with a strike, but instead she will attack with a thrust. All I have to do is raise my arms above my head and I can then quickly launch a thrust at you.

This looks silly, but Darcy's found the right technique for breaking open wine barrels with a sword. Aside from Adela she's the only one to do it in one strike. It's a lot safer if you have proper gloves or gauntlets though. Darcy can seem goofy but she knows what she's doing.

I'll have to see where the story goes, especially with the possible implication that Moira's hiding something, but it's interesting to think about!
