*laughs nervously* Izzy? Dead and gone for good? Naaaah, of course not, he’s just in the gravy basket…or on his way to get sea witch necromancied back by seagull Buttons. He’s ok, he’ll be back…he’ll totally be back 🥲.

Proud to say I’m at a place where I’m very ambitious w my goals, but still very content w where I currently am. No matter my financial or academic or just any personal aspirations at all, I’m so in love w my life as it is and realize that it will be no objectively better when I do attain all the tangible things I want to attain. Legitimately so happy to just be here, surrounded by love and books and privileged to be studying and gaining knowledge. At the end of the day this really is all that matters to me. And this is a feeling no amount of money can buy

Angsty superbat where some alien or whatever possesses Superman in order to destroy the justice league from the inside and has been watching superman for a while to mimic him better so when it takes control nobody notices at first. It's in this for the long game so it doesn't take any big actions immediately, just subtle stuff. It's plan for taking out Batman? Human emotion. It's been watching long enough to notice Batman's feelings, so it plans to woo him and then break his heart.
It takes a few months but it's not really that hard to shift their relationship to something more overtly romantic and Superman confesses and Bruce admits his own feelings. Bruce noticed a few things off with Clark, just minor things here and there, hardly anything and he's sure no one but him would have noticed. So Bruce rationalizes it away as he is creating a problem where there isn't one as a form of self-sabotage because he thinks he doesn't deserve good things, he's subconsciously trying to ruin this (like he ruins everything) because he was convinced Clark could never return his feelings. But he decides he wants this, and even though he feels like he doesn't deserve it, he will trust Clark and try to let himself have this.
The plot is found out before the alien has a chance to break Bruce's heart and they defeat it, but it has already broken Bruce bc all his worst fears and insecurities are confirmed--Clark doesn't love him and will never love him and he was stupid enough to think it was possible. He wanted to be loved so desperately that he let his feelings cloud his judgement and put everyone and the world at risk. He was right that doesn't deserve or get nice things and anything nice should be met with suspicion. Basically it really fucks him up and just feeds into his deepest insecurities.
The Superman angst side of this is that Clark remembers everything, but only vague and dream-like memories so he doesn't remember all the details. So he thinks that Bruce only started to love him once the alien started possessing him and doesn't actually love Clark, and now Bruce can barely even look at him bc obviously he would be upset to realize the person he fell in love with was all a lie in order to defeat him and now Bruce must be mourning a person and a relationship that never really existed (bruce is mourning a relationship that never existed, but not the way clark thinks) and now Clark knows for sure that a relationship between them is impossible.
So they're both avoiding each other, wallowing in the fact that the person they're in love with will never love them back and they just never acknowledge it to each other bc neither wants to hear a rejection directly.

Yknow I was also thinking... if Neuvi were to ask Furina to become immortal again for his sake, she might actually say yes. Which is exactly WHY he'd never ask her to do so, because as much as he dreads her inevitable absence, he won't condemn her to that fate again
You got it. Because when she took on that curse half a millennium ago, it was also a request she agreed to. For the sake of all of Fontaine and not just the sake of Focalors, but it's still all too similar. Even if she said yes to him because she actually wants it then, who's to say she'll always want it? Who's to say the decades, the centuries won't weigh heavier and heavier as they pass, just like before? Who's to say she won't have to ask him to make her mortal again? And that would be even more painful than simply letting her go when she's meant to. So instead he'll treasure the time she has, that she's more than earned, and he'll do everything he can for her to treasure it too.

The long awaited Part 4 ;)
Here’s Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 (you don’t need to read them, but they provide some angsty context)
There you go! I fixed the hurt, and gave you all the fluffiest of comfort.
Sorry it took a while, I was trying to figure out kissing.
