#daily cow #breed: zebu #continuing the theme of old cow breeds ! #zebus are even older than chianinas #as well as being pretty they are also super interesting cows #they're the oldest domesticated breed of cow #actually being sometimes considered a subspecies of aurochs ! #they appear in various paintings+scultpures from <20 bc #zebus originated from india (though they can also be called an african breed) #i believe the bull capital of Ashoka (sorry if i'm messing that up since i don't know much abt Buddhism) is a carving of a zebu cow #they were also engraved into coins used in india during 20-21 bc #they also seem to appear in some egyptian wall paintings circa 1350 bc #so safe to say they're an extremely old breed !!!
